Speaker 1 (00:00):
We head out to the Ka Commas Spirit Health. I'll
line to bring on Jake, Snake Plumber joining us now
Dave Logan, Ryan Edwards, Rick Lewis, Jake always great, my friend.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
How are you?

Speaker 3 (00:09):
I'm good? How you guys doing good?

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Good? Good?

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Jake. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
I've got to think you had a run of longer
than forty yards in your career. I would like to
think that I described the longest run of your career,
But my guess is in your career you most definitely
had a run longer than forty.

Speaker 4 (00:26):
Yards, right a man?

Speaker 3 (00:29):
You know, I don't think so. I think that was it.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
You know, I never had one of those breakaway chances
because no one really knows really how much speed I
actually do have.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
I used to laugh because I'm talking with Labar Arrington
sometimes and he ran.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
A much faster forty than me at the combine, but
on the field he couldn't catch me, so at least.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Once or twice I got away from him. But yeah,
great call. I'm in the room with legends, you know, I'm.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Talking to Radio Royalty and Bronco Royalty.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
You got it's nice to join you today, Hey.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Jake, Rick Lewis here man, looking forward to hanging out
with you tomorrow. Down in the Springs. We're doing an
event the YMCA down there. One hundred and fifty kids
are going to be there. Jake, I just found out,
and it's a pick a ball thing. Jake is a
big pickleball dude. Jake was a big handball dude, and
now it seems like there's been a transition into pickleball.

(01:25):
I've never played. I may take a lesson from Jake tomorrow.
What kind of shoes do I have to get? And
shorts and all that I'm gonna get on Amazon tonight.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
I mean, you can wear whatever you want and pick
a ball. That's the thing.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
You got, freedom for expression.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
And there's no dress code.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
No environment.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
Athletics shoes are the best, so you can move around
a little bit and still discover that you do have
some athleticism left in those bones.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
And yeah, man, well Seekey, come down.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
The lot paddles and everything. It'd be fun to show
you out you what to play.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
I don't think I have too much lateral movement left
in these hips, but I'm pretty sure my hot an
hike or hot eye and coordination, uh still works. Yeah,
I'm not. I'm not quite so sure for you. Yeah right,
If not not quite so sure, that's one about the
lateral thing, or well, I'm sure about the lad because
you've had a hip replacement, but like when I toss

(02:18):
you a water bottle, I don't feel confident it's going
to stay off the ground. We'll see you tomorrow, Jake.
I'm looking forward to it.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Nice, awesome, Yeah, I look forward to it.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Very cool.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Jake Plummer joining us here. We have to we were
talking about a moment ago that the training camps coming
up in about two weeks. I don't know if you
remember when you were about two weeks out from training
camp maybe a little bit of a different. Were you
at a point where you're like, hey, I'm in shape,
I'm ready to go, or are you trying to like
cram for the final exam and get ready for training camp.
What was it like for you in those final two
weeks before camp.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
You know that was the time to really connect with
family and friends and uh, you know a lot of
times just relax, get the work out in that.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
You needed to stay in shape.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
But you know you did all the hard work to
actually early on you know the March April May you
were you're killing it, you're hitting it hard, and then
that way before the season, I don't think.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
The best idea. You know, we used to have two
A days which were real deal to A days, and
you know, you get all of shape to get feeling
really good, the best.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
You'll ever feel, and then you come to camp and
they break your ass down and beat you up and
make you feel horrible and leading into a.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Sixteen week season. So you know, I think they've changed
their ways.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Some now and these guys are really into the physical
and I used to do remember taking it really easy.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
I'd go to corn Lane Lake towards the tail end.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
Of my career and just hang out on the lake
and swim and boat and have fun with my family
and relax knowing that I was about to shut down,
you know, everything, and get focused.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
So let me ask you, and we've talked you know
a lot, talks a lot when when you were a
player and have stayed sort of in touch after you're retired,
how is how is the humbo mushroom business going? I
know the last time we talked, things were really kind
of taking off for you. Where are you with that.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Yeah, I mean this thing business that uh, you know,
I never really studied or planned to be involved in,
like I am, it's ever changing, you know, and it's
it's following trends.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
It's a lot to do with marketing and.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
How well you can convince somebody that they should try
your product. And I don't really dig a lot of
that other than I.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Know that what we have is really good.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
It helps that many many people that have benefited from
just feeling better, a little bit better, sleeping better, doing whatever.
And that's really what can keeps me going and keeps
driving me to you know, spread the word and get
it out there. And so, as a company and an
individual myself ever evolving, we're working on figuring out what's

(04:59):
next to keep this thing going because we feel it's
important that people know that, you know, there's a lot
that mother nature provides that that's really good for you.
That you're not going to hear from a doctor necessarily,
And you may hear about it and be confused thinking
it's a different form of.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Mushroom that takes you on a psychedelic trip.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
Well, no, there's an entire queendom. I call it a queendom,
not a Kingdom of functional mushrooms.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
And so we're just trying to alert people and get.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
Them to check it out and try new things, especially
something that's been inherent in our genealogy and we've been using.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
It and eating them all along through our evolution.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
To get back to it and just reap the benefits yourself.
Never I don't know, and I can't tell you what
it'll do, but they're good for you, and so we're
learning as we go.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
It's fun and you know, we're enjoying, like I said,
helping people feel better.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Your partner Dell sent me a package a couple of
weeks ago. So I'm taking the sleep stuff at nights
and then the the was it lions in the morning.
I don't know what I'm taking, but whatever you recommend it,
that's what I'm taking.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Good deal, that's my that's my partner in it.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
Yes, Yeah, we're always trying to find what's next, you know,
and Rashaan Evans our other partner. You know, a lot
of UFC MMA fans will know who I'm talking about there.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
And you know, we believe in it because it's helped
us and you know.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
Like you like you are now a believer it's an unbeliever,
you know, being able to nice add something to your
weaponfoy that helps you just have.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Better focused maybe less the t sleep, better, function a
little better.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Hey, Jake, as you know I was. I've been a
fan of yours going back to the Sun Devil days
and been about thirty years. Hard to believe since you
came out of ASU, and you know what, I'm thinking
you were probably ahead of your time because the running
quarterback is the thing right now in the National Football League.

(06:54):
What if you would have been coming out of college
this year, do you think your career would have been
any better than it than it already was?

Speaker 3 (07:03):
You know, it's hard to say, you know, I mean,
I think.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
I was utilized and given a lot of opportunity at
ASU by a great coach, Bruce Snyder. We went through
four different quarterback coaches, some really really amazing coaches. I
Hugh Jackson, Bobby Petrino, John Pettis.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
You know, these guys knew what they were doing and
they gave me the ability to be who I was,
And I think that was more important than any necessary
like style of play.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
If they would have had me just straight and got back,
dropping back and going through whatever.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
I would have worked my ass off to do that.
I had a talent in scrambling and extending plays, and.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
So there were a lot of guys that come along
that were good at that also during those.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Times, but they it wasn't what people were necessarily.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Searching for, you know, because there's a there was something
of there's a method to the to the way a
quarterback in the pocket can can function.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
And never really you know, hurt you too.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Bad with a with a a very well intentioned just
trying to make a play coach moment like I always
had where you know, hey, if I got out of
that pocket, now this is my this is my playbook.
I'm writing this, not you, coach. You wrote that other one.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Didn't work out. I turned to go out.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
And sling it down the field, and you know what,
maybe I throw an interception, but I bet you you know,
seven out of ten times, I'm going to get that.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Ball in there and.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
If anything, make those guys go, well, man, we better
play the whole.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Till the final final whistle. You know.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
So I think that style has become fun to watch again,
and I think.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
That as time goes, you know, that big quarterback that
we've seen.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
Will come around when they're when they have that processing
bit in their brain, like a Peyton Manning, you know,
the guy that can go through it all and.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
It's just he can make it happen like that.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
But now you were seeing much more success from these
guys that get out and run around. And you know
the guy who won the Super Bowl this.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Year, Jalen Hurts. I mean, what an awesome.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Story that is.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
He's finally done it and he's really morphed into a
well rounded, beautiful quarterback that can do everything. And that's
really I think the future of that position because it's
it was used well for a while and now you know,
you get someone that can throw it and they can run.
Now you've got another running back out there that can
also drop dimes. I mean, it's it's evolving the game

(09:25):
for sure, making.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
It hard on defenses.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Really appreciate the time as always, my friend, and good
look at the event tomorrow. We'll hope you dominate out
there and pickle ball and yeah, maybe teach Rick Lewis
and his hips a few tricks out there.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
It'll be great.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Get me stretched out before we do it. I don't
want to pomp an Achilles or anything.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
That's the key man.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
We'll do a little stretch in, a little do a
little something to get ready and yeah, big thanks to
the USA Pickle Ball for setting all this up and
right now tonight, got some guys coming down.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Former players playing down here at PEAT Pickleball in Colorado Spring.
So grateful to be all to show with you guys
and looking forward to this season with the Broncos.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Appreciated Jake.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
Thanks, Hey, thanks Jake, you got well peace.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Yeah, I appreciate it, the great Jake Plumber.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
I'll think maybe you take some more of that lion's
maine right before you go down there for the pick
a ball. Although I think I think that might be
the nighttime one lion's made. It could be. I'm not sure.
How about uh umbo mushrooms, that's what it is, lions
made as a mushroom. Oh, what's the thing? What's the
thing that? What's the other thing?

Speaker 3 (10:29):
You said?

Speaker 1 (10:31):
There's one you're doing for sleep in the one in
the morning.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
For me like a lion in a zoo cage. Yeah,
and then you're going to sleep great after that. Yeah,
that's what We're not going to get up in the
middle of the night. What is that one is there?
What's the name of that mushroom? I don't know you
you're taking stuff the name of you know what. I
just I'm doing what they told me to do. These
guys are the experts. That's what.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
You know.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
Don't even answer that that's good stuff.
