Speaker 1 (00:00):
No Ryan Edwards today, he's you know, I guess uh,
when you get to that level of fame and you
just get to take time off whenever you want.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
He gets to he gets to do stuff like that.
Is that what it is? What it is? He's so
famous and he's just bigger.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
You know, he's asking for above the title billing and
all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
That's certainly that's how I view it, No, no question
about that.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Oh I had a chance to uh to hell you
ride yesterday with that. I don't know which one of
us is the Jinks. Because the Rockies get their their
first home game home series win, excuse me of the season,
Twins get two out of three.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Hey, he and I were front.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Row to watch them lose seven to one on Sunday,
So we might be the Jinks.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Hey, but look at it.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
And again, my voice is a little funky today, so
you might hear less of me, which you know could
be a good thing.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Nobody's clamoring for more of me. Look at it, look
at it.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
This way and and this This is what the Rockies
are counting on, even though they lost. Great day at
the park, he had great seats, the weather was good.
I mean that'd be. The beer was tasty. You do again,
the bear was tasty, you know what I mean? So, yeah,
I was. I was happy to see the Rockies get
their their first series victory of the year. Took the
first two or three from Minnesota. And what the Twins pitcher,
(01:13):
I'm gagging for his name.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Ryan Joe Ryan. Yeah, yeah, that dude. Yeah, oh he was,
he was. He was having nasty stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
He still is hit mid nineties into the seventh inning
and probably should have gone back out for the eighth,
but they went in and yeah, you know, they started
pulling in there for both the Yeah, let the other.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Guys come in because I thought I thought he was
pitching very, very well.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
I was thinking a homer homer off of that. But
it wasn't moniac. Yeah, it wasn't nearly enough. As Marquez
didn't look shaky early, and the guys who came in
we were giving up some one of the guys they
brought in, I'm struggling to remember his name now, but
he came in.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
I swear he.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Might have thrown one pitch that clipped eighty and the
rest of them we're in the seventies.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Was like, wow, maybe there.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Is a market for my fifty mile an hour fastball
at this in this major league baseball.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Yeah, I didn't see him, but oh yeah, I get
his name. Hang on, it was it was it was
just funny to watch. I kept well.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
He kept throwing these you know, seventy mile an hour
curveballs and sliders and sinkers, and I was.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Like, Okay, this is the this is the finesque guy
they brought in.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Hey listen, you know, and we've talked about this too,
and winning two out of three first series victor, as
you said, of the season, but you got them two
games closer to eclipsing the mark. You don't want to
be under forty forty one or forty.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Two, forty what is it forty forty two that the
White Sox last year. Yeah, but it definitely don't want
to Well, we definitely want to get over that hurdle.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
And two out of three, you know, meloaf good done
two had a three a bad according to.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
UH forty one when forty so forty two is where
they need to get into forty two. Yeahs, I'm looking
up and trying to figure out which picture this was
in that seven one loss off the top of my head.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
It was.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
It was just it was hilarious to watch. I think
it was hrget. Jimmy Hurgott was on just just throwing
the I was like, it was funny watching the one
guy come in. You know they're throwing, they're all throwing
mid nineties and then this guy comes in and guys
were so far out in front of the pitch.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Oh yeah, yeah. They used to use me in high school.
Yeah right.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
That brought grad Smith on when they you know, when
when the high heat was done, it's time to bring
on breads seventies, like high sixties, maybe five.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Six sixty zeros in tech signe. You guys want to
get involved in the conversation.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
One of the guys didn't. I think it was Griffin
Jacks who came on for Joe Ryan. What didn't he
go to Cherry Creek?
Speaker 2 (03:29):
He did.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
One of the guys behind me at the you know
behind me there was was telling me he was a
Cherry Creek kid.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
That was that was out there. So it was yeah,
I was like, okay, well that's got to be fun.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
You get to come back and throw, uh, you know
in a stadium you probably were attended as a kid.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yeah, I'm sure. I'm sure it was, and there were
there were.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Man, I bet there there's a handful plus of guys
in the majors right now that played their high school
baseball in Colorado. Yeah, yep, I was.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
It was just to me, I'm thinking about that while
I was sitting there. There's got to be I mean,
did you come you came back and played here when
you were with the Browns?
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Right?
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Did you come back and play in Denver when you
were with the Browns baseball?
Speaker 2 (04:07):
No, I'm in football. I mean coming back and playing
in a stadium.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Yeah yeah, yeah, rookie year, we came back here. Uh
that like special for you though, calling back here?
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Yeah? No, it was.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
I was on every every special team's unit. I told
the story. I was the gunner on the punt team.
I'm quite certain that it's purely coincidental that in that game,
Rick up Church set a record returning not one, but
two punts for touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
He had two. I don't think. I don't think anybody's
ever had three.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
I'll put it to you that I don't remember that
very few have had two when he did that, And
then I about killed myself on I was I think
I was R two on the kickoff coverage team, which
meant you just have to keep everything inside and let
the big boys kind of go to work. So I'm
sprinting down and back. Then the wedge the thing was
(04:59):
the thing, and the kick was to the It was
into the north towards the north end zone east side
wedge slides over and so as I'm coming down, I'm like,
the wedge is coming. So you got to make a
split second decision. So it was so stupid to me.
I literally ran as hard as I could, partially because
(05:22):
I was in Denver, but I ran as hard as
I could, and at the last minute, I shut my
eyes and did exactly what they never want you to do,
which is drop your head and just ran and well
obliterated myself and them in the wedge.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
At least you got them.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
The only positive thing out of that was the head
coach Forrest greg when we all watch film, made such
a huge deal about that. I mean, I've got some
I've got this guy. This is a wide receiver doing that.
I can't get you guys to do this. This guy,
I'm thinking, yeah, well, you ain't never going to get
me to go either.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
I got the film early.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
So that's it. That's it on that one. Oh, I
love it.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
I love it. That's always That's always been a thing though.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
I always always wondered, you know, going back to going
back and getting played in front of not just family,
but you know, friends, and in a way, uh.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
I talked to somebody about this the other day.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
In a way, getting to play against your detractor, the
people who you grew up not getting along with, was
almost a big, bigger deal for that player.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
You know, look what I'm doing, you know kind of thing.
It was kind of a flex I guess. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
So I don't know, but I always thought that would
be cool, you know, getting to go back and do
that kind of stuff. So knowing that kid got to
come back and pitching a stadium grew up there, that's
probably great.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
I'm sure. It's a big, big, big things.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
And the Rockies, I mean, for not having a great
on field products, they continue to deliver for the fans.
There were plenty of fan interactions, giveaways, all that kind
of stuff.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
It was a lot of fun down there at the ballpark.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
They whatever complaints we have about, uh, the Monferences, owners
of the Rockies, and I have some for really on
field products. I gotta say in terms of being of ownership,
they the stadium is fun, the atmosphere is fun, the
surrounding era it's fun.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
They really well.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
It's beautiful, and I think it's I mean it's honestly,
what's what's kept them alive. Yeah, you know, when you
when you think about it, I mean, this will be
the third, third consecutive year they're going to have over
one hundred losses. So it's not necessarily baseball excellence that
is that is drawing people down to twentieth and Blake,
but it is. It's a really cool experience. It's a
(07:25):
beautiful stadium. The Rockies do a great, great job. It's
i mean, the weather is awesome, and so it's a
it's a great experience. You can take your family down
there and experience major League Baseball. And now all we
can do is, as we've been talking about, sit and
hope that that they're going to be able to find
a way to get this thing turned around.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Yeah, and that's hopefully they can outpace I'm hoping they
can eclipse fifty something wins, but that might be asking
a little a little too much.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Just my my pocketbook, maybe asking how many they got
now twenty four, twenty four. Yeah, and while they are last.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
And wins, they are fourteenth in the league and attend
to and so as we were talking about averaging over
thirty thousand fans per.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Game, yeah, there's about thirty thousand.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
That's the top half, right, Yeah, top half of the
league in attendance at absolute worst. And you know, so
that that says something about the periphery, the product that
the ownership is responsible at four outside of the on
field and hopefully they get that, uh that cleaned. Broncky's
taken on the Saint Louis Cardinals first game of that series.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Tonight.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Coverage starts here on Kaway at six, first pitch at
six forty.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
You guys want to stick around for that.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
A former Denver athlete now available Seahawks surprise to some
cut of tight end. Noah Fant involved in the Russell
Wilson trade.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
There.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
I think the trade everybody lost now that you look
at it. No a fan available on the free agent market.
I don't think he's in the plans for the Broncos
based on some conversations I had. In fact, i'd be
very surprised if he didn't sign with either Miami or
San Francisco. But is no offense somebody we would want
back here? Is there a role with Evan Ingram signing
this offseason?
Speaker 3 (09:00):
I mean, you've actually talked to people with the Broncos.
I've talked to nobody, But I would agree with you.
I think that would be I think that would be
far fetched. I think the Broncos would take a flyer.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Now. I understand that.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
You know, he was here, and he was the first
round pick, and he wasn't Sean's pick, and so maybe
there's maybe there's some merit to thinking, hey, you know,
he's still a guy that can run. He's a big
athletic guy. I just think, I mean, Ingram's going to
be the guy. And I mean I think they have
not soured at all on Troutman as kind of the
(09:42):
second tied end. He's a willing and I think he's
an above average blocker. His thing is just being available
and when you are and the ball comes to you
catch the ball and do something with it.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
But so long winded answer.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
I would be more than just mildly surprised if no
offense winds up here in Denver.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
No, of course wasn't even a pick of George Payton's.
He was a pick of John Elways back in the
back in the day. It was involved in that trade
with Pittsburgh. Uh, in the same class as Drew Lock.
So there's nobody that's here that's tied to to Noah
Fan from that, you know, from that pick or any
of that kind of stuff. I would be surprised if
he did not wind up in a Shanahan system offense.
Specifically with like I said, even though he's not the
(10:25):
world's greatest blocker, you can use him as uh. And
there's a team that's short on tight ends right now,
and that's Miami Dolphins. Uh, you can use him in
that role, and that that that could be a possibility.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
You know.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
With that, it's funny because, Yeah, the conversation that I had,
I'm glad you mentioned Adam Trouton the conversation that I had.
They brought up three names in that conversation that well,
evid Ingram takes a lot of the role away that
Noah Fan would have. Adam Troutman's our guy who get
his nose dirty, you know. And then they brought up
Nate Atkins and talked about what a low red zone
threat that he is. And you go back and look
(10:57):
last year, Yeah, they tried to they tried to feature
you got Inside the Tan and featuring Nate Atkins in
an h back, you know kind of role. And I'm wondering,
in addition to maybe not bringing in a NOA fan,
which again I don't expect, if that means that maybe
a Lucas Kroll, maybe Mike Burton, maybe there's some flexibility
with moving them off the roster if Nate Atkins can
(11:18):
handle those roles.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
Yeah, I think and they like I mean, Atkins is
a guy that can play fullback too. I think Sean
Payton has been a guy I think we all would
agree with this that like smart players, he likes no
drama players.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
He likes players that accept.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
Their role willingly and then go out and when called upon,
perform their role, whether it's seven snaps or whether it's
forty seven snaps. Atkins is is kind of an underrated guy.
So and I think with fan again, when you look
at him, I remember when the Broncos first drafted him.
I think everybody was excited and I was too, based
(12:02):
on his physical attribute. So here's a guy's two hundred
and close to fifty pounds and could really really run.
But I will say this about Noah, and no disrespect
at all intended. He was never really a natural route runner, right,
I mean he wasn't a guy like like I watch
(12:23):
Evan Ingram in some of the OTA work and then
go back and look at some of his work in Jacksonville.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
I mean he's a natural athlete.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
He's into and out of breaks, as you said, been
like a receiver. That's not Noah Fen There's more sort
of rote regimented movements. Now he can run. He's got
really good speed for a big man. But I know
I do not see him coming back to the Broncos.
(12:53):
I'll go further with the Fan. Thing that was interesting
to me is that you go back and you look,
and he was not knocks that I have on Kyle
Pitts at this point of the same knocks I had on Fan.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
The numbers had to be back to the quarterback. You
had to bring him across in order to you when
you were going vertically. He couldn't track the ball. You
had to get to go back across in order to
get him the ball and his biggest play came off that.
You look at the UH the play against the Browns
when he was here was right, and what did you
do going across the field flashing the numbers back to
the quarterback, put the ball in his hands and then
let him, you know, use that that long stride UH
(13:24):
to get out there and outrun guys at his size
and you know, and score.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
And that's that's what he did. And that's kind of
what he was in Seattle too.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
They featured him a little bit more, but you know
that that's kind of what he was, and I think
they wanted to do something a little bit different there,
and I think there's a specific niche that he fills.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
It's sort of the same thing with Kyle Pitts.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Is you you were hoping you got at Evan Ingram
type in terms of natural athlete, guy who's fluid in all.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Those breaks, but really you didn't.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
He doesn't catch over the shoulder that well, and he's
he does have more athleticism than I'll ever dream of.
But at the same time, you know, this is a
guy who is sort of he has this one role
and that's what he is.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
Yeah, I think with Pits, I think just his overall
athletic ability so impressed NFL people. I mean, you're talking
about the Titans. Coach at Florida was a good friend
of mine, or is a good friend of mine. The
(14:19):
coach pits and before the draft he said, Dave, this guy,
this guy could be a top five pick in the draft.
And I mean I said, within the first five rounds
he goes, no top top five pick, he goes he's
a freakish athlete. So all the NFL guys saw that. Right,
(14:41):
He's not great at the point, but you can live
with guys that had that kind of athletic ability that
aren't necessarily great.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Great when they're attached. But he did not to your point.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
And I didn't watch him enough to say, well he
didn't track it, well whatever. I just know that he
didn't catch the ball as consistently as you have to
catch the ball.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
If you're going to be that dude in the NFL, yeah,
you're going to be that guy.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
And they usually go vertical at the seam and you
can you got to be coming across the field to
make catches and flashing the numbers back. It's that's going
to limit what you know, what you can do. And
that's sort of with him, you know what it seems
to be, at least to me when when watching him. Maybe,
but there's there's something wrong with Atlanta. Yeah, he's on
the last year of his now he won't be there
after this year and he may not make it the
whole year there this year. But yeah, he's on the
(15:29):
last year of the deal there and they've tried to
move him. But the problem is that the offers they
get back or ham Sandwich type offers, And at that point,
why not well, yeah, or ride it out and get
a compensatory pick on the back end if somebody takes
that that shot at him, which you know they could.
I think in the NFL, a lot of guys, a
lot of coaches and scouts. You see a guy, you
(15:50):
see the athleticism, and you say, he's got all the
things I can't coach from the one who can turn
this into something. I mean, there's there's an inherent arrogance
that you have to have that to be Yeah, you.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Have to have that.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Yeah, you and I both know the league is full
of coaches, right and it currently is full of coaches
and in the past has been full of coaches and
when we're all gone, the league will be full of coaches.
They're looking guys that didn't work out for whatever the
reason in a particular situation playing for a particular team.
They watch him on film and they're like, I can
(16:21):
get something out of that guy. And then you have
the position coaches to go try to sell the coordinator,
and then they go try to sell the head coach.
We you know, with what we do here in the
system we run, this guy's skill set is perfect for
what we do. And you're right, I mean you got
to have you got to have the ability that you
know you can coach and get the best out of players.
And they look at some guys and say that guy's
(16:43):
too good to be as inconsistent as he is.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Yeah, and that is the case.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
We had a couple of questions coming in here about
some of the other tight ends that the the Broncos have.
Caden priest Korn, who, of course they added the Lions
brought him in undrafted to let him go.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Rouncles brought him in.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
Uh, he's a big guy, you know, like sixty five
whatever's forty to forty. Guy camp Lohaner of course, who
has seventy two total snaps suits the seventh grade, right,
but we got to see him make sure, you know,
ball out against Colorado last year. Of course, Lucas Kroll,
I think those three guys are competing for a spot.
To be honest with you, I think Kroll, Priest Corn,
and Loaner are looking for you know, they're looking for
either that last spot or that practice squad spot because
(17:22):
they're all sort of fit the same dynamic of the size,
you know, athleticism, mold.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
Yeah, I would say that.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
When you think of Lucas Kroll when when he fame,
obviously when he first got here, yeah, yeah, but he
flashed so quickly, and I was under the depression, like, okay,
you know, the Broncos and the offensive staff really think
this guy, this guy can eventually.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Be a guy, right, and I don't. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
If they didn't see enough in practice in terms of
how he caught the ball, if they didn't like his
demeanor in the running game. Maybe there were a couple
of times where certain formations, emotions, you weren't real sure
what you're doing. There are so many ways at this
level in the NFL for a guy that is not
a high draft choice, but the majority guys in this league.
(18:21):
There's so many ways for them to sort of get
into the doghouse, so to speak. Now, coaches will forever say,
you know, no, no players in the doghouse, or I
don't have a doghouse or whatever. But what they do
is they lose confidence in players for a variety of reasons.
They're less likely to lose confidence if that player is
a first, second, or third round pick. They are a
(18:44):
little more lenient. But I don't know what happened to
Lucas Curl. I don't know, because that star kind of
fell from the sky like rapidly.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
All the talent in the world, but it looks like
too many mentalists to me. Without Yeah, yeah, I'm with
you on that. Guys were off and rolling five six,
six nine zeros and text line, you want to get
involved in conversation. Your rapidport's going to join us in
the next hour. Get a chance to get to some
stuff with him. Plus Jerry Jonons is shooting himself in
the foot again. We'll get to that. We come back.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
Can't wait Sports.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Five six six nine zero is the text on you
guys want to get involved in the conversation. Chris Paul
back with the Clippers. They certainly had themselves an offseason.
I've been kind of watching these teams because I thought
the Nuggets had a really good offensive season. Now they
got Jonas, but the Clippers are having kind of a
nice offseason so far as well.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Clippers deal is going to be, can they stay healthy?
They got they got a bunch of dudes that have
battled through injuries. If they stay healthy, and they were
healthy when they played the Nuggets, right, so you know
they were able to Mean, that was the hell of
a series. But you know, if I'm Steve Balmer, I
(20:00):
guess you have enough money you really don't care. But
I mean, am I going to bank on those guys
on KWHI and hardened to a certain extent?
Speaker 2 (20:08):
And Meal?
Speaker 3 (20:08):
Yeah, beal, you're gonna be healthy for seventy you know,
seventy two to five games of the eighty two game schedule.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
Yeah, no, true, they have talked about a rebranding, but
no truth to the rumor that they were changing to
the the LA Retirement Home, you know, based on some
Brook Lopez too, right, Yes, Yeah, here's the full roster.
James Harden Kawhi Leonard Bradley, Beal, John Collins, Vika Zubac,
Chris Paul, Chris Dunn, bog Don Bogdanovich, Derek Jones, Junior,
(20:42):
Nicholas Battoom, Brook Lopez, Kobe Brown, and Cam Christy.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
Really is a.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
Pretty pretty damn good roster if they're healthy on paper,
if you're you're healthy and able.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
To make derricks all the time.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Derrick Jones is a two way guy, good defensive player.
Uh yeah, I mean it's just a matter, I mean,
how how much honestly, how much can you how much
can you count on?
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Uh kawhi? Yeah, and that that is the big question.
I mean, Jones would be the I guess the backup
there that you know, as far as that goes at
front court with Collins, Zubac, and and Lopez is is interesting.
Although I think the again, I think the Nuggets carry
the the matchup there in terms of who they've got
with the front court that they stay l the Uh
the mystery has sort of been, I think the the
(21:26):
team the other team in l A is the the
l A Lakers.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
What is the what is the plan here?
Speaker 1 (21:31):
Apparently they tried to trade for both the Dante DiVincenzo
and KCP over the course of this, uh this past year.
They don't necessarily have Lebron fully in the fold here
because he's opted out and doing whatever he's doing. You
made the huge trade for look at Doncic, and you
signed DeAndre Ayd into that that sweetheart deal that you had.
But I mean, right now you're looking at a team
(21:53):
that's that's Doncic, Reeves, Hachimura, Ayton and question mark at
the at the four, you know, is that it team
that's even they have aspirations and I'm not even sure
that this is a top five team in the West.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Yeah, it'll be.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
I mean two or three really interesting questions from my
standpoint for the Lakers. You know, in October, what kind
of shape does Danchiz come to camp? And is he
going to be able to play and give at least
a little bit of effort on defense.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
He's a world class offensive player, but.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
He was heavy and out of shape, and you know,
I thought, I thought it showed in the playoffs. Reeves
is a guy that they offered a four year deal
to for like over one hundred million dollars and he declined.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
And I'm thinking, well, I mean it's one thing you know, to.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Bet on yourself, I guess, but he's he's banking on
him having the kind of year that forces the Lakers
into a much more creative deal after this year. And
I like Reeve's game. I think he's an all around
good player. I don't think he's necessarily a great player.
But you know, you got uh, you got basketball's the
(23:12):
size of an elephant. If you can walk away from
a guaranteed, four year, one hundred and whatever it was,
six or seven million dollar deal.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Anything more than one hundred million, I mean, what do
you bet on at that point? Because I mean, like,
you know your your market to Austin. Reeves, to me,
is an excellent third option. That to me, that's what
he is. But I think if you get if he's
your second option, your primary option, I think you're I
think you're in trouble.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
I mean he could carry that on some nights, yeah,
but I don't think he's If you're looking at if
you're going into a season and he's your primary or
secondary option, he's your Nicola or he's your Jamal Murray,
I think you're I think you're overestimating what he brings.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
The table for a whole season.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
Yeah, and if you're if you're a third option walking
away from a four year, one hundred million plus dollar deal,
I mean again, I mean more power to him again.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
I like him.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
I think he's a he's a really good player. But
it struck me as like, wow, Hashimuro is a guy
that is you know, some games, you think, okay, he's
really starting to kind of, you know, establish himself from
the league. Decent perimeter shooter, decent rebounder. He's got an
above average game in most of the categories you're looking for,
(24:21):
and then there'll be some games that he kind of disappears.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
So I'm not sure what the Lakers are doing.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
Yeah, some of the other ads are kind of head
scratching a Marcus smart thing.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
You know. We'll see how that shakes out.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
I don't know, five six, six, nine zeros in text
line three zero, three, two or three. Interesting questions is
why do we give a rip about the Lakers? Do
we care about boarding NBA basketball?
Speaker 2 (24:40):
That is a good question. It is because they're Nuggets opponents.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Really, for me, it's surveying the landscape, and we're going
to do a little bit of that with football here.
In the next segment is the Chargers had an interesting
retirement happened that may or may not take them a
step back in terms of what people expect out of
them this year. Somebody said congrats to the Clippers for
winning the twenty seventeen NBA champion retroactively. Yeah, several people
(25:04):
chiming in on Meet Loaf apparently, and I did not
know this.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
Meet Loaf was a big time fantasy.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
Baseball player, like it was like a passion of his Wow,
fantasy baseball three.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Or three says I remember best from the Rocky Horror
picture show. I forgot I forgot he did that? Ye too,
I forgot he did that. That was a good good get.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
There several people spotting that he was he died due
to COVID, So grant you should a book order The
text line you should feel horrible, feel so.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
Bad until it's gonna keep me up at night. Probably
you had some.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Good decision those two out of three and bad. So
you guys have any questions. Love to get into all
that stuff. We're on the cost of the eve of
training camp as that were, there won't be a practice tomorrow,
but they do have the media barbecue. Some player availability,
so it'll be like getting back into the swing of
things starting tomorrow and then first practice back on Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
I believe I'm not one hundred percent on this.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
I have to check with our boss, Dave Tepper, but
I believe Ryan Edwards and I will be doing a
camp special show Saturday, nine am to noon right here
on KOA.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
I believe that's happening. We'll figure that out. I'll do
some crack research. I'll have to tune in. Yeah, you
big time listening to Dave.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
You know this is I mean, this is really the
great time of the year because things are just about
to get into full swing, right, so you get a
little bit of excitement, and I think people, you know,
you think about this. I mean the Broncos first preseason
game is August ninth, I mean that's today, is what
the twenty first of July?
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Yeah, we got a we had a game coming up,
like what in a week a Thursday night in the
Hall of Fame game coming up and like a week
from Thursday. You think, yeah, July thirty first, Yeah, yeah,
so football is right around the corner.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
It goes crazy.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
It's funny how it does. Maybe it's just you know
me being middle Asia or whatever at this point, but
the years you are getting older, Yeah, I mean the
days are long, but the years ago there's blow by
at this point. It feels like to me so as
I as I am getting only as there's more than
more gray hairs in there that I I like to
count on. While I'm chuckling about that, let's go check
it with traffic with Davie Bryant, our guy Jared Joels
(26:59):
back at it again and shooting himself in the foot
with regards to.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
Uh does this surprise you? Oh? No, not at all,
do you?
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (27:05):
You got that up there back there, grunt? Let's let's
listen to the audio here at all. Jerry Jones.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Yeah, this is in reference to the Micah Parsons contract situation.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
Just because we signed him doesn't mean we're going to
have him's hurt six games last year. Seriously, we've signed
I remember signing a player for the highest paid its
position in the league and he got knocked out two
thirds of the year Dok Prescott. So there's a lot
of things you can think about when you, just as
the player does, when you're thinking about committing and guaranteeing
(27:36):
money I'm the tango part of it. Mike goes in
the podcast, and ownership has.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
Over complicated this thing. In near mind, you guys think
this has been overcomplicated.
Speaker 4 (27:45):
Of all of the people that I've set down with
as a player, of all the players that I've ever
negotiated with, Michael Parson is as savvy and knowledgeable and
understanding of his financial business relative to football as any
player I've ever been around.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
Now, he's smart. I'm shore with that.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
But Jerry, if you had a chance to actually talk
to his agent.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Yet I've talked with.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
People that have talked to him, let's put it like that.
You know, I don't necessarily talk to these agents, So
I don't necessarily talk to attorneys, and I do stuff everywhere,
and I don't necessarily talk to the people that are
hired to do certain things. I talked to the principals
ninety percent of the time.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Any chance you have to throw your star edge rusher
you're trying to negotiate with and your quarterback under the
bus right before the start of the season, I.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
Mean, you gotta take it, don't you.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
Dave, Yeah, I I was sitting there listening.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
I mean, I'm I'm trying to.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
Think, what was he saying, Who's Michael Parsons?
Speaker 2 (28:52):
Michael number one?
Speaker 1 (28:53):
Also, Parsons was injured for four games last year, not six.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
If I'm Michael Parsons, I come back to the next
next press conference and I refer to the owner of
the Dallas Cowboys as Gerald Jones.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
I really do No, I don't know. I think I
think he just sort of got stuck on a thought.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
And I mean, I'm sure it's true that, you know,
I mean, when he when he paid Dak Dak Prescott,
Dak did miss uh the majority of the year.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
That one year.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
And but that happens, and that's how that or the
fact that he could pay Micah and Micah could get
hurt and missed some time. That's that's not relevant to
the to the situation.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Isn't happened with anybody.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
I mean, that's you know, that's one of those things
that's absolutely ridiculous to me. Michael Parsons is fairly savvy
when it comes to that. But Jerry Jones admitting he
doesn't talk to you know, the agents, and I like.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Don't don't do that, Like you just what are you doing? Man? Well?
Speaker 3 (29:54):
He what what I think. What his point now was, Hey,
I don't really you know, I don't. I don't mess
with agents. I talked to the principles ninety percent of
the time. So if I want to know what's going on,
I go right to the horse. But I mean more
times than not, you've got a GM in this case,
(30:15):
I guess that's him that deals with agents, right. I
think it's in other words, when when the Broncos negotiate
a contract with whomever, George Payton is the guy that
is negotiating.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
With his team, Richard and George Payton right with.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
With I mean Richard Toddo actually negotiates the terms, but
I mean George Payton's guy's negotiating, not Greg Penner. I
guess Greg probably if they needed him, would step in.
But see, Jerry is the owner and the GM and
a lot of other things.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
Too, right, And that that changes I think the lens
at which I guess I look through these things because
of who he is and what he does for Nick Cowas.
But yeah, I mean, like George, George will go to
Greg Peter be like, hey, you know we got Nick
Beddy his contract coming up. You got eighty million, you know,
we're gonna have to put eighty million escrow in two weeks.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
You're good? You good on that, you know, And the
answer that would be, yeah, I got that. The cushions
of my couch wal more money, okay, but uh yeah,
I know.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
I just I thought it was funny that here he
is throwing Dak Prescott for no reason under the bus.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
Yeah, why is why is Dak being mentioned in Micah
Parsons situation?
Speaker 1 (31:20):
And Dak's done nothing but been great this offseason where
he's he's lost weight.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Uh, he's he's.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Going out of his way to get with the new
offensive coordinator and get with Brian Schottenheimer and be on
the same page with stuff.
Speaker 2 (31:31):
For me, I expect big things out of the Cowboys
offense this year.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
How about maybe we can talk to uh our NFL
insider coming up here shortly, But how about the rumors
about Nick Saban coming back?
Speaker 1 (31:42):
That is fascinating to me. I could not picture him
coming back to the pro game, but maybe, you know,
and then the college game with the NIL, I mean,
you know, but they just you know, they're they're starting
to try to put the cap on the NIL earnings
and maybe and Saban's pushed for that.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
He's he's he's got people that he's I think reasonably
close to professionally saying he's thinking very seriously about coming back.
He's got family members saying there's no way he's coming back.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
So I don't know which one to believe. And that's well,
where's he coming back? Because these guys are the professionals
that are talking about. I mean, you're coming back to
the Pro game as a head coach? Really, I mean
you're gonna go join Belichick is DC at North Carolina. No,
I don't offered him a job. I don't think he'll
do that. I'm just saying, I gotta tell you.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
I think he's I think he's young for his age,
and I mean it wouldn't it wouldn't shock me if
Nick Saban decided to come back one last time.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
I think it would shock me.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
I mean, let me ask you this, what if USC
falls short of their expectations this year and they want
to buy out Lincoln Riley and for some and they
want to hire Nick Saban.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
I just thought, first of all, I don't think it
fits culturally USC, of all places.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
But I guess you're exist seeing him on a surfboard. Well,
I was.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
At the STA Bowl a couple of years ago. A
play came over to our side on the sideline knocked
me to the ground. Nick Sabe was the one who
picked me up. And I think I committed an unborn
first son to play at Alabama. But it just by
gripping his hand. But no, I just I don't know,
it's it's that's something fast. We can ask you in
rapport about that. We got him coming up next. Plus
we want to get to these T shirts the WABA
players where we'll get to that in a little while
as well. Five six six nine zeros a text sign
(33:31):
you guys want to get involved in the conversation.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
Koai Sports back after this
