Speaker 1 (00:00):
Happy Thursday. As you heard whole Cogan. That was that
Dad was a little bit of surprise. Earlier today he
passed away at the age of seventy one. Dave Logan,
Ryan Edwards, Orlando Franklin in studio with us. What's a
big o?

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Just hanging out fellas, trying to trying to, you know,
solve all the world's problems.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Right, yeah, so what we do?

Speaker 3 (00:18):
So we do?

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Dave, good to see you.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Good to see you guys.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
It's a few days.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
I'm just gonna pick and choose.

Speaker 4 (00:24):
My spots had little vocal cord irritations, so uh, I'm
a little raspy, but I am.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
I am here, sound good? I do?

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Yes, really, thank you?

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Ran Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Yeah, I mean, you know, I'll let you know if
you get into that Bob Dylan territory, and then we'll talk.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
I mean I talked to tep, our boss, and he said,
listen to if you're good enough to come back and.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Just pick and choose.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
I mean, if Ryan says something that doesn't make any sense,
I want you to jump in. I said, in that case,
I probably got to take off till Monday because that'll
be way too much talking for me.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
It's a lot, a lot.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
It's like a lot to do.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Yeah, I mean, the goal would be to go five
minutes or something, yeah, any given show. But I can't
promise you that.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
No, no, no, And that's you know, that's on that
we're on the same page. And honestly, you tell me
you take a day pretty much.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
That's what I'm hearing.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
I think you want me to go five minutes. I
think it would be pretty boring for you.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Listen, you know, I think the more you do something,
the more experience you get and the more used to
certain things going on. And so how long have you
and I have been together?

Speaker 1 (01:33):
But going on three years?

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Three years, so I'm in that mode.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
All right, Well, I'm excited to see you here. I
missed you earlier in the week when I was off,
and then of course yesterday for the show. We got
all sorts of fun stuff to get to. Over the
course of the show, we're going to talk about. Today's
practice is the second day of the acclamation period of
the Broncos ramp up for full training camp starting tomorrow.
We'll get to some news from around the league, including
what's going on with Justin Fields and the Jets. Nathaniel

(02:00):
back in the league, but not in the role you
think he would be. And of course we'll talk a
little bit about the Rockies who or a resurgent. But yeah,
just for a moment on Hulk Hogan. Boy, what a
week you talk about Ozzy Osbourne and talk about Hulk Hogan.
We're talking about I mean, whatever you think about Hulk
and some of the later years and certainly what his

(02:22):
legacy will be from that perspective, there's no denying what
his impact was on WWE and the wrestling community.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Yeah, did an unbelievable job of marketing and branding himself.
You know, That's what I will forever remember as I
got older, you know, I kind of fizzled out of
like in wrestling very quickly, kind of around when I
got to my teenage years. But when I was younger
and just can as opportunities to stay up late and
watch it. I remember Hollywood Hok Hogan and just how

(02:53):
he branded itself. So sensational job by him, and he'll
be forever remembered by.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
A lot of people, right and again, And that's what
I was saying, Like some of the recent memories of him,
you know, being at the Republican National Convention, tearing off
the shirt and being ultrabaga and all that. Yeah, some
people ill.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
Is he had a little bit of a double clutch
on the terror. You know, He's like, oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
That's right. And so, you know, seen on social media today,
it was it was a very mixed reaction, you know,
Versus like Ozzie. It was like universally like, oh my gosh,
what you know, rock Icon and people just you know beloved,
whether you knew him mostly from his TV show, you
actually were alive long enough to see him and his
band and they just performed. Because we have any intension
to talk about this, but they just performed like two

(03:35):
weeks ago, I know, his final concert, and I was watching,
you know, some of the crowd reaction to him singing Mama,
I'm coming home. And I watched again earlier this week
when he passed, and it just oh man, it just
hits you right in your chest.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
So what what did the reaction that you saw that
was anti Hulk?

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Was that about? Is his political views?

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Some of his political views he's been There's been reports
and stuff about I don't know some of his views
on race and stuff. I mean, I don't really want
to get into too much of the weeds of that,
but I'm just saying, like, that's that's what you want
to spell it out for.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Myself too with the listeners.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Yeah, listen, Google is going to help you if you
want to Google, oh cogad, I'm sure you'll get both
sides of that. But like I said, I do think
it's appropriate to to talk about specifically is impact on
wrestling and his impact on growing that.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
Yeah, I think it's appropriate to say that if anybody,
no matter which side of the political aisle they come
down on, would and I haven't seen any of the
any of the comments, but if you would, if you
would celebrate somebody else's passing, then you got to go
check yourself. Go check the guy looks back at you

(04:52):
in the mirror when you brush both your teeth. It's
just like shallow. It's like I can't stand that sort
of mindset. And so if I'm talking to you, I
really don't care. I'm absolutely talking to you. I mean,
we can all disagree with things people say.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
I know I do.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
We can disagree with people's political stances I do, or
they're uh, you know, I hadn't seen because I really
hadn't followed back to your original point. I hadn't followed,
oh Cogan. I mean I knew, I knew of the
wrestling thing and his stick, and when one of my
college teammates was in pro wrestling, I followed him a

(05:34):
little bit more because Vader at times would be a
rival for Hulk, Right, So I'm like, well, I better
I better check check this out to see how how
this is going to go. But man, we've got to
be able to move past, you know, all this disagreement.
I mean, it's it's okay to disagree, but with somebody passes.

(05:55):
Can't we all just be respectful and say or say nothing?

Speaker 3 (05:58):
How about that?

Speaker 4 (05:59):
If you can find a respectful comment, I get it,
then don't say anything.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
That's all. That's my solbox. And now I'm jumping.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Off fair points. Honestly.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
You know, playing the game of football and just being
like an offensive lineman, you learn very quickly that you're
not going to have the same opinion of the same
view as others. So you know, I lived my whole
entire life the way of what Dave just said. Up,
I don't have something respectful to say. I'm just not
going to say it at all, Right, me too. You know,
a lot of times I don't agree with a lot

(06:30):
of things that happen. And now I am raising two
children in this world, and I constantly still see the
problems that we have in society and a lot of things,
you know, whether I agree with somebody's political opinion or not,
or their view or not.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
You know, I think a lot of people get caught up.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
In the whole aspect of how do I stay relevant
or how do I say something to go viral, or
how do I say something to get the most amount
of clicks, And a lot of times I find myself
just saying, hey, I got to take this thing with
the grain of salt.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
And just kind of move on with my life. Right.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
And so, you know, a person died that at one
point I watched wrestling, and one point it was big
I don't know his his political opinions, I don't know
what he's saying race wise, but I know that that
man had a huge impact on that sport, right, And
that's all I could say at this point. Now I'm
very intrigued with the other things, and I'm going to
use the good old Google machine later on the night

(07:22):
to figure out everything else, and I'll have opinion on that,
but if it's a negative opinion, you'll never hear it
from me.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
I promise you that. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Well, and me again, I think both things can be
true to Dave's point, to your point about understanding he's
a family man, understanding what his impact was.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Was he still was he I'm at Was he still married?

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Oh that's a good question.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
I'm not.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
I don't even know, but I know he had the
show with his daughter that was like a thing back
in the day. I remember that the reality show.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
I did not see like one episode.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
One or something like that. I watched a couple of
times it. Yeah, okay, come on, Dave, like you haven't
watched the Kardashians on that accidental.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
Moment never well maybe maybe flipping through. But I can
tell you this, I have never watched more than I'm
flipping through?

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Is that Kim? Which one? Is that one?

Speaker 4 (08:16):
Okay, flip I've never watched the Kardashian episode longer than
like that six second interval.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
I tease Steve Atwater all the time because one of
his favorite shows is Real Housewives of Atlanta. That's one
of his favorite shows.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
So I've watched the one Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,
same thing.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
It's just, you know, it's kind of car wreck TV
where you just can't look away.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
A bunch of women screeching at each other. I mean,
the housewives. Are they ever going to have like house
husbands or are we going to have that sort of thing?
I know who I would I know who I would
want to have on the series.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Travis Kelsey. No, oh, okay, travasd man.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Former musician. I know. I think it would be great
at it. Do you think that would be great? Yeah?
As a kept man, absolutely?

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (09:06):
Are you? Are you kept?

Speaker 1 (09:08):
I'd be fine if if I was cats, But I
certainly appreciate that I get to come in here and
do this because if I was a kept man, then
I would really just hang out on the couch all day.
Well no, sounds so well okay, yeah, okay, I get
you or wherever she says you need to go, I
get you. So she's like, hey, I need you to
go to the grocery store and get happy to do it? Honey,
absolutely do Anyways, but now was going to say, how,

(09:29):
I mean, okay, how is that as the difference is
is I wouldn't work if I'm a man. Well, Travis
Kelsey decides to be a kept man because Taylor Swift
earns more money than he does.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
By the way, is there a yes, I was wrong,
Dave coming before now in the start of Chiefs training
camp or maybe that am I?

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Do you do get a victory lap on Travis Kelsey
not retiring?

Speaker 4 (09:50):
I think so based on your conversation in my conversation
we had together.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Well, my recommendation was that he retired, but you were right,
but he did not.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
That's all I need. That's all I need.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
We made it like seven minutes into the show knowledge.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
I'm thinking, all.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Right, so all sorts of fun stuff to get to.
Congratulations to bo Knicks, who made it in the top
one hundred the NFL's top one hundred at number sixty four.
Also somehow a very controversial thing that happened on social
media today. Of course, Broncos fans pretty thrilled with that.
And on the other side of that are national pundits,

(10:32):
if you will, who don't understand why bon Nicks and
by the way, he and Jade Daniels were the only
two quarterbacks from last year's class, reportedly because Jayden hasn't
been named yet to make it into the NFL's Top
one herd, which is as voted on by the players.
This isn't like media people out there voting. This is

(10:53):
as voted on by the players, Nick or bon Nicks.
And they had PS two, they had Nick Ponito, that
Christian Minzalez. The had all people sort of chiming in
at some highlights from Dave Logan talking about the you know,
playing call play calls. It was very cool. They put
out of a whole video on it, so you can
go check that out. But what do you think about that, Dave?
I mean, we'll start with you here. Bonick's number sixty four,
debuting after his rookie season, listen man, one of two

(11:16):
quarterbacks from that class. I think if you'd have told
me a year ago we'd be sitting here talking about that,
I'd be pretty thrilled.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
Yeah, I think we all would have taken that. I
think you can make a case. I mean, I think
it's a valid case. I think it's a strong case
that he'd be in the top one hundred. You know, again,
we've talked about this.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
There are.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
You're going to have the detractors no matter what, no
matter how you play. I mean, for years and years
and years and years and years, how much did we
hear about John Elway and his inability to win the
big Game because he had played in three Super Bowls
prior I think was it three. I believe it was three,

(12:01):
and they had you know, they had been they'd lost
all three games. But you know that really when you
when you look at those teams and how those teams
were put together, had they not had Lway playing quarterback,
they wouldn't they wouldn't have even reached the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
But the narrative for some out there was that, oh, yeah,
this guy, big arm, good athlete, but he can't win
the big Game. It's it's just so silly. And I
think it's silly.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
That there are still some people out there, although there
are I guess different levels of silliness, But to me,
people that you know, want to come up with this
sort of narrative as to why even now bow knicks,
they're not sold on bow knicks. I think it was
probably a fairy valuation that there would be some questions

(12:51):
after he came out of Oregon in terms of how
is he going to be in a pro style offense
because of what Oregon ran. Sean Payton quickly dispelled those
as soon as the draft had concluded and he charted
his throws downfield. He obviously was very comfortable with him.
Then go look at the stats. But you still have
people that say, yeah, but yeah, but when it comes

(13:12):
to bon Nix and I don't really understand it. You
could find stats on any quarterback and if you manipulated
the stats enough, you could come up with one or
two or three that you could deem to be negative
based on how many throws were between five and nine yards,

(13:32):
or how many throws were completed behind the line of scrimmage,
or how many throws were you know, you can make
analytics say a lot of different things. So yeah, I
think I think heving bone the top one hundred is
absolutely appropriate based on how he played last year.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
One percent agree. For me, it was just where was he.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
Going to fall?

Speaker 2 (13:53):
You know, I think that sixty where was he sixty
fourty four? I think that that is great on Bow's
behalf because he's the one who's earned this thing. This
thing is voted by the players, and this is what
the rest of the league thinks about bo Nicks. So
for him to start off the year last year staring
down Courtland, throwing the interceptions that get throwing that Seattle

(14:14):
following week opening up against a tough Steelers defense, still
you know, staring down guys, and then you finish off
the season with only twelve interceptions thrown the whole entire year,
taking twenty four sacks all year. Like he just got
better and better and you could tell that the Broncos
had finally found their guy. There's thirty two teams in

(14:35):
the National Football League, and I think that when you
really look at the quarterback position, what would you say, maybe,
you know, sixteen to nineteen, maybe feel comfortable and confident
about their guy. But as far as like long term
decade and a half, there's still a third of this
league that's still trying to find the answer. Broncas have
figured it out. And when you have a quarterback that

(14:57):
goes out there and is able to develop right before
you in the course of a season, man, he's going
in the right direction. And I'll tell you the last thing,
the argument that he had with Sean Payton, I forgot
exactly what game that was, The Raiders game on the
sidelines where there was probably a lot of fans, and
I know I was one of those go Bo go

(15:18):
go Bo, go just get you know, because I like
to see the little back and forth with the quarterback
and the head coach. But I think that that also
shows you kind of who bo Nicks is, where you're
not just going to roll over him, you're not just
going to push him around. And he's got a little
bit of fire in him and he went out He
went out there last year and did what he was

(15:38):
supposed to do, and he's every bit of deservant to
be on this list.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
You're so funny about him bringing that up. I've had
more current players and former players talk about that moment
than almost anything else that bo Nicks did last year.
You talk about the touchdown throws, impressive performances in games,
certainly clutch performances and games, but what you brought up there,
the team's scared of him. I have heard from four players,
four players, everybody, even when we were at the combine,

(16:04):
that was something that was talked about when we talked
about what next. Oh Man, you remember remember on the
sideline with Sean that was something that was something Why
why does that resonate Dave. Why does that resonate so
much with players?

Speaker 4 (16:16):
Because I I would say for a couple of reasons. One,
Sean Payton has a reputation even amongst ex players, guys
that he didn't coach, He's got a reputation as as
does every other coach in the NFL based on what
we see of him on TV, what we read about him.

(16:40):
We draw conclusions based on those things, even if we
don't have firsthand knowledge about how a coach interacts. I
think from players standpoints, when they looked at the interaction
of the year before with Sean and Russell, you know
that was completely different the Detroit game where Sean went

(17:01):
in on Russ. I think there's an obligation for a
player when a coach has gone all in. I think,
I mean, the way I was raised, you stand there
and you take it. You let that coach speak his mind.
Now there comes a you know, there comes a point
of no return if you're if you're going in and

(17:24):
then you're going to go in again. No, I'm not
good with that, but most players have to stand there
and take it when the head coach is lighting them up.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
And I think the fact that a rookie at least had.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
The moxie maybe would be the word in an animated
way fire back. We don't know exactly what was said,
but he but he fired back with the facial disposition
of like, you know, no, I thank you, I'm disagreeing

(17:58):
with your point. So yeah, man, I mean that's you know,
if there's so many cameras nowadays on NFL coaches and
sidelines that.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
You really can't get away.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
That's why all the guys are covering their mouth, are
covering their mouth, are growing and talking. And now you've
got you know, baseball managers when they go out, they
cover their mouth so nobody could read their lips and
they did.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
But that I thought that was a moment that people said, Okay,
this kid, this kid's gonna be just fine because he's
got the confidence in his rookie season to stand there,
take it and throw.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
A high, hard one back at him.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
Well, for me, it was also that it looked respect like.
It looked respectful, like it didn't look like like Sean
was trying to dog bow, or Bo was trying to
like literally fire back, or he was being sensitive.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
About the situation. It looked like two people.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Arguing their point and being very passionate and very kind
of like animated with how they're moving their bodies and stuff.
So I think that's great because they're two days point.
There's a lot of players that you can't even say anything,
or you would be terrified to say something in that setting,
thinking about like, hey, am I going to still have
a job tomorrow? For Bo to go out there and

(19:08):
there's some ups and downs all year, and there's ups
and downs in the course of a game, but for
him to be able to not hesitate and fight for
what he believes in while also being very respectful in
the way that he's doing it, I think that's an
art for him. And you know, anytime a player could
get after a coach, I mean a former players, but.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
It's usually a quarterback. It ain't going to be and
it ain't going to be a wide receiver more times
than not.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
But even a rookie at that so it's a quarter
he's the quarterback, but he's a quarterback.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
Yeah, I mean, I guarante, I can't guarantee, but I
would bet a lot of money that you're never going
to see in exchange like that with Sean Payton in
a rookie even a rookie star like RJ.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Let's say r J. Harvey just takes off and is
having that kind of year.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
I bet we don't see an exchange like that. It
has to be a quarterback honestly, or like an OBJ
one of the one of the personality guys that is
so sort.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Of lots of defensive player that's getting fired the next day. Yeah,
you know the wild yeah, right, one of those guys.
One of those guys.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
All right, Robin Roly here on a Thursday, five six
six nings is o kaa con spirit health text line.
If you want to interact with us, we'll get into
some thoughts from today's practice, all sorts of stuff from
around the NFL. You listen to Kaway, I think I
retweeted it a couple of days ago.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
One of his best, it absolutely is.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Right, yeah, and that performance.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
So it's it's so much one of his best to
me than when I first heard it. I was surprised
with him. It's so good, I said, this is Osborn.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Yeah, because you think of black Sabbaths, yeah, and you
think of the much heavier stuff, right, And like I said,
that performance from like a month ago wherever where he's
sitting in the chair up there and the crowd is crazy.
He's crying.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Yeah, yeah, man.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
It's incredible. So highly recommend you go see that if
you get a chance to check that out on social media.
Five six six nights zeros or kwe Common Spirit Health
text line. Let's let's hear a little bit from the
players on the top one hundred. We told you guys
Bonnicks came to number sixty four. Here was Nick Benito
talking about Bonnicks.

Speaker 5 (21:26):
See, you know when we drafted them, I kind of
knew he was going to be the guy.

Speaker 4 (21:30):
Sean Paton now as a quarterback that can do some
of the things that they.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Like to do in New Orleans.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
He can really do it all man, Kim finding ways
and when he brought the pocket and his beat is
really underrated. Every time you know, we see both build
the ball in there and we know he's going to court,
you might as well just count it for a TD.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
I like that in the sense that the confidence that
the defense is getting off the quarterback. And it's one thing,
you know, when we had von Miller here, he loved
every quarterback that.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
Game through here.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
It doesn't matter who it was. You've ever even talk
up Trevor Sivid like I was a future Hall of
favor Same thing with case Ketom, like, oh man, we're
so lucky to have case Ketum here, and we're like, oh,
I really are, all right, man, that sounds good, that's good.
But there's a sense and you hear that even from
telling O Hufonga today talking about Boonix. They just get
a lot of confidence watching him play and watching him

(22:20):
out there at practice. It's pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
Yeah, defensive you.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
Guys, you know, you want a guy like that that
you don't have.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
To worry about.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
They're gonna go three and out like for the first
five possessions, so they're gonna wind up averaging like seventeen
points a game. We've seen that at times, and every
franchise gets to see that movie, you know, from time
to time at their local movie theater. And I think
the exciting thing about Bo's year last year, aside from

(22:54):
the fact that they you know, they got to the playoffs,
they won double digit games, first time in the playoffs
since two thousand and fifth.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Team was it.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
It creates an optimism, It creates a hope, not only
with the fans most obviously, but with the teammates, and
that's where that infusion of confidence, even at the elite
level in the NFL. Man, you know, it's it's not
that hard for teams to lose their their confidence in

(23:23):
either the scheme or a certain teammate or whatever. But
if you got that guy at quarterback, I mean it,
I mean it's it's such a huge deal for a team.
And I think the Broncos feel like and I do too,
that they've got that guy at quarterback.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
Here's Pattertan on that top one Hunters shoot boom.

Speaker 6 (23:41):
I just think he's so calm and collected. He rarely
see that from a rookie. You could tell he looked
like a bet out there.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
Oh there's a lot of boys, and that's like way or.

Speaker 6 (23:52):
His unique ability to be poised in the pocket, make
plays out the field, they go home.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Whenever we needed him to make a play, he came through.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
That was kind of cool, the micd up moments from
the players. So Patser Tan's there like there you go,
bo Like he's watching, he's dialed in on defense, watching
what the offense is doing and knowing, Hey, I mean
you got to pay attention because you got to know
what situation, you're going to be walking into a passer
tan and I will being the defensive player of the
year but also a captain on this team dialed in
that way. I just you know, again, as a football

(24:22):
fan is pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
Now.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Nobody knows you better as an offense than the defense
that you're going against every single day. And in the
game of football. When you show up in July and
your body feels the best that it's going to feel
until April the next year, you know there are some
dog days in there where the defense might be chirping
you or you know, your teammate right next do you say,
come on, let's go, let's pick it up, and you

(24:44):
don't feel like being there at all.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
You don't want to.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Your body just absolutely hurts, and you still have to
find a way to compete. So you know, you look
at bow Knicks coming in last year. These defensive guys
got to see it every single day, whether it was
an OTAs or training camp or even throughout the season.
You still go good on good, and that's when it's
supposed to be. The iron sharpens iron, you know, and
let's go, let's get up for this period kind of slow.

(25:08):
Everything else down, But for that period that's gonna you
got to get that competitive, the juices going and be
ready to go. So to hear these guys talk about
bo Nicks and to you know, see that like what
they think of them, it doesn't surprise me at all
because they see it firsthand every single day. And trust me,
those guys are trying to go out there and let
them know like, hey, you haven't arrived, right, You're just

(25:30):
a rookie, right, and those So though you're having those
back and forth moments every single day, but if you
find a nice way to do it and where you
could feed off of each other, that's when the team
really gets finds ways to kind of layer it, break
by brick and build a great foundation like we saw
the Broncos do last year.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
They put up this stat NFL Network did right after
and we've talked about this before day, but Bonix threw
for a league high nine hundred and four yards and
eight touchdowns on passes on the run this season, So
he was the number one one we talked about on
the move. He was the number one quarterback in the league.
Nine under four passes nine or four yards eight passing

(26:06):
touchdowns is the fourth most by any quarterback in a
season since twenty sixteen.

Speaker 4 (26:11):
Yeah, I think, and the numbers would indicate this, but
it's one of his best attributes his ability to throw
while on the move and not I mean there have
been some great, great quarterbacks that that was that was
maybe the key to finding ways to beat that quarterback
was to make him move great pocket passer, great sense

(26:36):
in the pocket, but if you made him move side
to side and throw on the run, not not nearly
as efficient. This kid, you know, he just watching me.
He looks like he's played a ton of baseball to
me in his life, and some of the moves he makes,
he's just he's what I would call him natural athlete, right,

(26:58):
I mean, he's he's the guy that that feels pressure
as I think it was I think it was Pat
Sartan that said his speed is surprising. I think that's
one thing that I had no idea. I mean, I
seen him on tape in Oregon, watched watch games. But
there were some moves last year in the regular season
where it's like, man, I mean he was bottled up

(27:20):
and just outran And it's one thing to outrun the
big people inside, it's another thing to out run the
edge guys and maybe some linebackers. Those guys can run.
So I think that's, you know, you want to build
on that. It'll be interesting to see kind of how
Sean and the offensive coaches build on that this year
where we see more design pocket rolls. We saw a

(27:41):
pretty good amount of those last year.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
Yeah, I think you have to, right, I mean, it
really puts a defense in the buying when you force
some of these outside linebackers to, hey, you got to
set the edge, but oh, now they're trying to create.
They're trying to, you know, run you five yards outside
at the hash point. How do you set the edge
in a situation like that? So, you know, that's just
one of those other things when you look at bow Nicks,

(28:03):
you say, how can we get more of this in
this offense?

Speaker 3 (28:06):
And sure Sean Payton has had some late.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
Nights this offseason waking up in the middle of night
writing some things down to try to get creative and
have more.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
Of that in the system.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
Yeah, and that that's something that is going to be
fascinating to watch. It was interesting today listening to Quinn
Miners talking about they're changing a philosophical view of the
offensive line and how it works in the run game.
And I'm glad we have you in studio today because
I want to ask you what that actually could mean.
When he says we have a philosophical shift in the
way that we're viewing what we're doing on offensive line

(28:37):
to better fit with our running backs. I thought that
was really cool. So we are a little bit of
Quinn Miners coming up here in a second. Also on
the other side, I do want to throw a bit
of a controversial take the opinion that I've had after
watching a couple of practices. So we'll get to that
as well. Dave, I'm sure, I'm sure you'll be very quiet,
And just.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
Bar Scott would say, okay, if we.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
Ours has what a thousand dollars coming over the next
five minute, five six ex nights you are with Comma Spiry,
He'll text lin'mill here from Quinn Miners coming up here
in just a little bit, all right. So watching the
first couple of days of practice, and boy, this is
this opinion could change just as soon as next week.

(29:19):
I'm starting to think that Evan Ingram might be one
of the most critical players of this team's success this year.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
Why is that your controversial point?

Speaker 1 (29:27):
Yeah, I think it because how in the world? Well,
because is that?

Speaker 3 (29:31):
Here goes my voice. How is that controversial?

Speaker 1 (29:35):
Or not including the quarterback and not including PS two?
You know, I'm talking about really offensive specific people would say, well,
Cortland Sudden, maybe one of the top running backs, maybe
your top left tackle, you know, I mean, there's other
Quinn Miners. Who's it all pro? You could go down
the list of other offensive players before. I think most
people would get to Evan Ingram, and I think I

(29:56):
might vault Evan Ingram closer to the top of that
list after watching cold practices.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Here.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
Here's why I feigned righteous indignation because you and I
have talked about that, and if you're absolutely right, he
would be at at or near the top of my
list of important players on offense, not not players that
play quarterback, but skill position players. He is going to

(30:24):
if he can stay healthy, I think he would be
very productive.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
He's going to open up the middle of the field.

Speaker 4 (30:29):
I mean, that's that's as big in an addition to
bo Nicks in this Broncos offense as any other including JK.
Dobbins and including R. J. Harvey. So I'm right there with.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
You, Okay.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
I didn't know if you would be like, you've got
to be kidding me.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
Courtland and I've talked about it, you know. I mean
you and I have talked about No. I mean, all
due respect to Courtland, I mean Evan, I think just
with his presence and his athletic ability will make guys
in the outside and Courtland's one of them, I think
their jobs that much easier.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Okay, well, good, Yes, I love us agree on things.
That's awesome to Orlando.

Speaker 3 (31:07):
We're there with you, guys.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Nice Rah three for three. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
So much of the tight end position is all about
can you block? Can you you know, can you put
be detached to the offensive tackle? You know, what do
you do now when you're a couple of yards out
there and you got to come on the backside? Can
you get that defensive end or outside linebacker? But if
you could find a way to be you know, I
would say even like sixty percent as good as you are,

(31:35):
or even as enthusiastic as when you know it's a
passing situation and you know you're one, two or three
in that pass and read and now you could find
success in a running game.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
You just make your whole entire football team better. And
that goes for your.

Speaker 2 (31:49):
Defense as well, because you got practicing against them every
single day last year, the last couple of years for
the Broncos and even going back to i'd even say
before for twenty eleven, when I and JT and Virgil
Green and all of us got here. You know, you
would look at these tight ends and say, Okay, this

(32:09):
tight end does this well, but he does this, and
like they might do one or two things well, but
then there's like five things that kind of really handcuffed him.
And as far as their limitations go, Evan Ingram now
comes in and yeah, there's so much positive stuff. Now
it's all about, hey, can he stay healthy for the
whole entire season, you know, and if we could do that,

(32:31):
he could be a thousand yard guy.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
He's and you know, I don't think that's too ridiculous
to say. I absolutely think he could be a thousand
yard guy. And there's something about his short area of quickness,
like if you can't if you let him free release
off the line. For a big guy, he has a
way and he has a knack of just finding a space.
And there was a moment today in a past I

(32:54):
mean it was as a slant whatever. But the point
of it is is is not only did he catch it, inscribe,
but he he is so good. Yeah, he's so good
after the catch, and he uses that big frame to
sort of like like propel himself in part of it.
But he does all of it in this really like
short intermediate space. You know. Yeah, you can probably push
him down field a little bit, which we did a

(33:14):
lot with Noah fans, you remember, but honestly, he does
so much of his work in that in between the markers.
It was really cool over the last couple of days
just to see how smooth he is in and out
of his breaks.

Speaker 4 (33:28):
I think, I think, I think Noah fan is is.
I mean, Evan Ingram is a much smoother athlete than Noah.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
Noah is athletic.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
He's big, and he's fast and can run, but in
terms of you know, you, when you see guys running
and moving, it's pretty easy to say, okay, that's that's
an uncommon athlete right there. And Evan Ingram, you know,
he is closer to that category, much closer than I

(33:59):
think any time in that the Broncos have had since
Julius Thomas.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
So yeah, I'm excited.

Speaker 4 (34:05):
I'm really excited to see how he's going to be
incorporated into this offense and what that thing looks like.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
Look forward to it. All right, we'll come back. We'll here
for Quentinn Miners on the revamped offensive line, focus on
the running game. Pretty cool Stuff'll get to next
