Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, man, another training camp.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
How are you feeling feeling good just being out here
to the first couple of days getting back out. Everybody's
been good, so I can't complain too much.
Speaker 1 (00:08):
Well, you gotta have a lot of really good at
rushers this year. Man. You brought in Q. He's looked
really good out there. Dondra seems like he's taking a
sort of step forward. Tell me a little bit about
that room and how close you guys are.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Yeah, Man, I feel like we all just kind of
like are real close. It's probably one of the tightest
groups I've been in.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
You know.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Everybody's just always rooting for each other, always trying to
get each other better. We're always trying to just give
each other little things to just get better at. Off
the field, we're always hanging out. So it's been really
good between all of us.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
What were some things for you coming into this year
that you were hoping as far as technique or maybe
even stats, whatever it is, But what are some things
that you had some goals for yourself?
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Yeah, I'm kind of just doing the good things that
I did good good at last year even better, and
then just doing working on things that I wasn't really
good at whether it's my hands, whether it's different things
in the past, russ game, run game, stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
When it came to last year, which was a breakout
season for you, I mean certainly you built to that.
I mean you had a I think eight sacks the
year before than thirteen and a half and the touchdowns
and all that. What do you think you did in
the off season to put yourself in position to have
that kind of season you did?
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Yeah, I man, it was kind of tough. I mean,
obviously this time last year, I wasn't really practicing, So
just watching the guys in front of me, seeing what
they're doing, and also watching other guys around the league
from their tape and seeing where I can get implement
their game in the mind, and just being better that way,
and just getting those mental reps and that way. When
I was ready to come back on the field, I
was ready.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
You seem like you're seeing the field faster. Is that
because you guys have had some continuity with the coaching
staff or is that just a lot of Hey, you've
been in the league now, this is your fourth year.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Yeah, that's a part of it. I mean, when you
can retain the same coaches for spending on a year
three now, I believe that's always a plus. And then
on top of that, just with the snaps that you know,
not just me, but everybody in the room is getting,
it's just going to keep getting them more comfortable in games,
and it's going to be even faster and faster for everybody.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
There's been a lot of discussion and debate. I don't
know if you've beten plugged into it. You seem like
you're on Twitter quite a so about the contract possibility
stuff with you, and I mean, again, you're focused on
the season. I understand that, but there's a little bit
I'm sure of, like, Hey, I want I want to
prove the people you were a second round pick, You've
obviously elevated into that echelon of edge rushers. Imagine there's
something to proved there for you. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
I mean, it's just at the end of the day,
I just want to keep getting better every year. Obviously
last year I had a great year, but I'm trying
to build upon that. I know I could have even
been even better last year. So no one just that
and it's taking it into the offseason, continuing to get
better at everything is kind of, you know, my motivation
to be even better this year.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
So you're a pretty humble guy, But do you see
yourself in that echelon of edge rushers out there?
Speaker 2 (02:37):
But I feel like I'm one of the top ones
up there for sure, not just in pass rest, but
you know, every part of the game, whether it's being
disruptive in the run game, dropping back in coverage, and
I feel like, you know, that's kind of where I
make my money is just being a versatile.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Guy your front seven for just a moment, man, I mean,
you got you You brought back a lot of the
D line. How much does that really help you? Guys,
you and Coop out there on the edge, having the
D line con continuity that you have.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
I mean, it just makes our job easier knowing that
we can have guys that are selfless rushers and you know,
just being comfortable rushing with them day in and day
out here and just continuing to build that continuity more rushing,
It's only gonna make everybody better.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Listening to a Coop yesterday, he was asked like, what's
the next level for this defense? And he says, just
to be more dominant.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
What does that mean to you, Yeah, I mean more dominant.
And I think that just starts with the little things.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Man.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
I think when we take a look back at a
lot of the games, it wasn't really nothing a lot
of the teams were doing against us. I feel like
it was more on us, whether it's we're busting calls,
not being in the right gaps, letting guys go up
and down the field, and stuff like that. So, I mean,
you can see the difference not in day. You know,
when we're on our stuff, we're running to the ball. Man,
There's there's not many guys that can, you know, mess
with us when it comes to playing defense.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Do you guys think at all about that Buffalo Bills game?
How much does that motivate you, especially on the defensive
side of the ball.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
It motivates me a lot, man, just I'm pretty sure
everybody too. I Mean, we know we're going into that
game that was a very winnable game for us, and
we're just gonna try to build upon that. I know
a lot of guys have been having that game in
their mind the whole offseason because we know where we
want to be at the end of the day.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
So
