Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, man, we're what of a day five training camp?

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Hows it goes so far? It's going good. Man. It's
always good to get back here and get to work
with the guys. You know, it's a new season.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
We got new challenges and a new team, so looking
forward to getting better each and every day.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
You chose to come back here once again as a
free agent. What is it about the Broncos that keeps
bringing you back here?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Yeah? I mean, I just like what we're building here.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Coach Payton's done a great job since he came in,
and I love the guys and the season we had
last year. You know, I think we could build off that,
and obviously we're trying to win a Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
You you've got a chance now to work with Vance
Joseph system. What is it about that for say, inside
the linebackers specifically that that makes it so fun to
work with?

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Yeah, I mean Vance's defense is it's there's a lot
I talked to some of my friends who play on
other teams, and it's crazy. They'll tell me we play,
you know, between a couple of calls and I'm like, oh,
Advance has every call in the book and a lot
of different blitzes. But you know, it was fun playing
in this defense last year and he does a great
job of putting us in good position.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Yeah, and you got thrust into a much bigger role
last year, certainly with the end to Alex. So tell
me a little bit about last year and sort of like, Hey,
you came back. You knew you're gonna play some special teams.
You knew her to be a guy that's gonna be
kind of maybe worked into the defense, but then all
of a sudden, you're playing some starter snaps.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
What was that season like for you?

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Yeah, it was a great opportunity and I just had
to make the most of it.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
It's funny. I was telling my dad this offseason that
it took.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Me back to my first year, my first year playing
Josie Jewel went down, and it was funny. I remember
the night before that game my first year of being
like do I really need to look at the playbook
like Joe, like these guys aren't This is the honest
truth of my first year. I'm like, oh, these guys
probably aren't going down, and boom, I get thrust it
into that game, and I just didn't feel like I
was as prepared as I should have been at that

(01:39):
point in my career. But last year it felt ready
to go and just made the most of the opportunity.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
It feels like a good lesson maybe that you, as
a now season vet can pass on to some of
the younger players about always being ready.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Right. Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Yeah, I think with some of the guys coming in
now that are a little older from that extra year
at college and stuff, I feel like some of these
guys are more have more under their belt and a
little more.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Experience than some of us.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
And then, you know, I came in during the COVID year,
so it wasn't really mydeal. But yeah, some of these
guys are doing a great job, and yeah, we're just
gonna continue to get better.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
You're obviously gonna continue to have a role on special
teams as well. What's it like working with Darren Rizzy?

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yeah, it's been good so far. Coach Rizzy.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
He puts us to work, for sure, but I just
see everybody getting better under him. He's a he's a
blue collar worker. It looks like we're gonna work our
tailoff all canvas if you saw today. But yeah, really
look forward to working with Coach Rizzy and being the
best special teams unit in the league.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
It seems like a theme with coach Peyton's staffs. I
don't know, now you've been around him for a couple
of years. There's they really work you guys. But the
good news on the other side, it feels like you
guys are ready to go for the season when it happens.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Absolutely. Coach Payton does a great job of getting us.
He calls a callus for the season, and it might
be the hardest camp there is, but uh, you know,
with that comes reward and just you take it one
day at a time and grind and grind and grind,
and before you know it will be a week one.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
All right, last couple of year four, you so tough
news on Drew yesterday are found on Saturday. He's gonna
be out for a little while. What did you notice
about him is sort of his development. I mean, you
were working right next to him out there at inside linebacker.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
How is he doing out there? Yeah, Drew's been doing great.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
You know, he's he's switched back and forth from outside
and inside linebacker, but you know, this year he's been
at inside and he's doing a great job. Like, like
you said, taking that coaching and getting better every day
and hopefully he gets healthy as soon as possible and
we get him back out here.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
There's been a lot said, especially by Alex for saying
that you guys could push to be one of the
better defenses in Bronco's history. Of course, have been a
lot of good history with this defense. Is that optimism
built off of last year? Is that optimism is built
on what you guys have here and what you brought
in in the offseason. What do you feel that that
optimism is surrounded.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
From Yeah, coaches to talk about it. You know, last
year is last year. That's done. You know we were
one of the best defenses in the league, but that
is done with. We have a new team, new players,
new coaches, and I just think that comes from the
roster we have and the work that we're putting in.
We realize that we have a little bit more depth
at every spot than last year, and we're just if
we gel together and put in the work, we think

(03:59):
we can be one of the best teams in the league.
