here in about an hour. Yourchance to win Food Fighters tickets coming up
in just a little bit. Wedid have some bad news today out here
(00:43):
at Broncos campus. Quinn Bailey gotcarted off. Yeah, that's that's a
bad injury too. Yes, fracturedankle is what Sean Payton said. Had
no timeline for it either, Yeah, it was. You know, I
was explaining to my uh. Ihad my granddaughter and grandson, two of
(01:04):
them here, and I was explainingto them what training camp is, and
I was explaining the different periods, the location of the coaching's office, the
ownership's office, looking around at wherethe weight room was, the cafeteria,
(01:26):
told him that this was an indoorpractice facility that we're currently sitting in over
here. And I see, andI said, the one thing that you
always see at an NFL training camppractice is an ambulance. And sure enough,
ten minutes later, Quinn Bailey wason the ground and everybody was on
(01:46):
a knee. Yep, because itwas it was an just to be so
so, I'm not gruesome, itwas an ugly injury. Yeah, it
without hearing right away, yeah,I mean without having to go to deep
into what we saw. Me itwas a gruesome injury. And he was
in certainly and and and a lotof pain and in tears. And you
(02:09):
saw it on the faces of theplayers, Like you said, immediately to
a knee, like you know whenwhen when when NFL players take a knee,
it's uh, it's it's different becauseit means that something really bad happened.
Right, It's almost like like abeginning of a prayer. Yeah,
it's it's to me, it's ait's a sign of respect, and it's
(02:31):
a sign that they're they're worried,right, I mean the players players know.
The guy that got hurt knows, but the players around him, you
know instantly like oh no, thisis I mean, it just it just
sort of it just sucks the lifeout of you. And and the the
hard thing about it is you takea knee and your guy gets carted off
(02:53):
and then you got to get rightback to work, yes, and and
upstairs they're phoning around to see whatother roster look like, you know,
like the Wills the most. ButWills went back in motion immediately when he
went down. And it was asimilar type of injury for Tim Patrick last
(03:13):
year. I mean it was lasttwo seasons, I know, And it
was about the same time, right, I mean, like the first week
of camp and you're trying to figureout what's going to happen here. But
it just goes to show you howfragile the human body really is. Like
that. That's the one thing thatI struggled with in my last four or
(03:38):
five years in the NFL, becausewhen you're in college, hopefully you know
you had no injuries you ran around. You know, I played basketball during
the football season, Like we playa football game on Saturday while I was
in college, and then we goover to and played three or four hours
of basketball on Sunday, you know, just just for a little extra run,
(03:59):
just and you know, go gohang out and you can run all
day. And then in the NFL, injuries happen because people are are more
intense, more intentional, and it'sit's faster, and people are bigger and
stronger, and you don't think aboutit that much. But then here I
(04:21):
am in my rookie year. Youknow, I have never had an injury.
Man, never, I mean Ididn't have like I had. The
biggest injury I had in college wasa turf toe and then my first year
in the NFL, boom torn shoulder. I'm like, man, you know,
like and and so you know,I had a coach who told me
(04:42):
when I was older, he toldme, you get hurt in the NFL
because you don't know what the hellyou're doing, like something, you know,
like when you are young. Youngguys get hurt in the NFL because
they don't know what they're doing, and therefore they're not ready for the contact
and they're not ready necessarily to atthe ground, like if you not paying
attention, and I wasn't. Igot hit on a trap against the Cleveland
(05:05):
Browns and I just tore my shoulderup and I was basically I was the
first injury, and I was Iwas feeling it. I was like,
oh man, you know, liketrying to get it halfway up. And
then at the end of the year, boom, man, you gotta have
surgery and you go, you know, I just went through four years of
football and then like eleven games Itail up a shoulder. How does that
(05:29):
happen? I mean, how doespecially when you're talking about offensive linemen and
defensive lineman. So guys who makeit through three years or four years playing
O line D line with Hardley's hardlyany injuries, go ahead and sign that
guy up. He may be aniron man. Yeah, it's it's I
mean, there may be there therein some cases. What that coach told
El is true. But also whathe said is true in terms of the
(05:54):
guys. They're just bigger, faster, and stronger, and you can get
put in a position no no faulteryour own where you you basically you just
get broken, something gets broken, right, ankle, hand, finger,
something, So it's a you know, it's it's a game that we all
love and and still love, butreally it's not. I don't I don't
(06:16):
know necessarily think the human body wasdesigned to go play that game right,
the way the game's played, that'sjust the reality of it. And you
understand that even when you're playing. You understand that, right, and and
you know, and I had anothercoach, you told me that the ground
is undefeated. The ground is undefeated. Right. Every time you go to
(06:36):
the ground, you increase increase yourchance for a injury. And that's why
you always hear the coaches when youcome out here. And Dave, I
know you do it as well atpractice. Stay up, Stay up,
Stay up, because you don't wantto go to the ground, because awkward
things happen when you go to theground, like it's been rolling. If
(07:00):
you're not ready to go to theground and you go to the ground,
you know, like people are outthere, probably driving in the car thinking
like when was the last time Ihit the ground when I wasn't ready,
Probably when it was snowing or something, when you slipped or when you fell
out of bed, that night youhad a few too many and fell out
of bed. The next year,at least you may be following no carpet
then, right, I'm talking about. I'm like when you fall, when
(07:24):
you fall and you're not ready tofall, like in uh you know,
like uh in winter. You know, you see all these people who get
injured or you know, you knowicy driveway right right right, and you
go, okay, all right, you know you just fail, right,
I mean, and then you know, I went to the doctor and I
was getting my back check and heasked me, uh, you know,
(07:46):
because I'm getting a little older,he said, have you failed recently?
I said no. I said whyWhy why you ask me that? He
said, because if you fall, then that's that there are different problems that
could be going on. But youknow, when you fall out here,
when you fall out here, therecould be something that happens and you may
not even feel it until tomorrow.I mean normally, though, when you
(08:07):
fall out here, somebody has helpedyou fall right right. You don't see
a lot of guys falling like whenhe a little bit older fall out of
bed or fall in the driveway orwhatever. Out here, somebody has helped
you tell me what happened with MikePritchard, my great teammate. I mean,
he loved the guy, but hewas in what was it training camp,
(08:28):
diving for pass and toys, spleenup or something. I'm trying to
remember. I know, I knowit was an injury that he had when
he was here. Just I'm like, man or something about that. But
I don't know what he I don'tknow what he did. Yes, he
dole for the ball and it hithim. You tell and I know we
got to go to break one thing, at least at the high school level.
(08:48):
I don't know if they stay herein practice, you absolutely never die
for a ball, tear your shoulderup, no, dare I do not
die for a ball. Now.I don't think anybody ever told me that
in practice in the NFL, butI tell players all the time, listen,
man not here defensive back diving,do not die for a ball in
(09:09):
practice. Wow. I know thatthat's great coaching advice. That is good.
He's a tremendous teammate and a guythat all he does is work his
tail off and the progress he madea year ago, and then all of
a sudden we were just discussing theroster the other day, and you know
he was easily for us. Youknow, lineman six is someone that was
(09:31):
going to be involved, you know, in the game plan in Jumbo and
so it's you know, it's toughto see that from from one of their
peers. That was Sean Payton talkingabout Quinn Bailey and the injury that happened
today. As he said, easilylineman number six. It's a guy that
comes in and I think Sean saidit perfectly. There doesn't every year.
He's kind of a fighting for aspot every year. But but he could
(09:52):
play multiple positions. That's that's thekey. When you find guys that in
a pinch and they can give youabove average, more than satisfactory play at
a snap of a finger and hecan go play guard and if you need
to, you can go play tackle. Those guys are it's it's it's hard
(10:13):
to find those guys. It's atough loss, for sure, it is.
It is not a good loss forthe Broncos. I want to ask
you, guys, because you weretalking a little bit about the mechanics of
what happens during practice from a player'sstandpoint, when you see one of your
teammates go down like we saw todaywith Quinn Bailey, saw the guys get
on a knee. The offensive line, well, first of all, they
(10:33):
were running a team drill. Theystopped the team drill, they went to
punt drill. The offensive line wentoff on their own and they they kind
of went on, yeah, no, well it's right, not team sorry,
nine on seven. Then the offensiveline went over and they just kind
of were on their own. Theytook a knee for a bit, they
prayed. What's it like as aplayer when you see a guy like that,
knowing you still got to go throughpractice. I mean you said of
(10:56):
yourself down. Yeah, it's it'sone of the things that I think you
have to have to play in theNFL. But it's not a it's not
a quality that necessarily serves you wellafter you play in the NFL. And
I think almost every single NFL playerhas to learn the ability and has learned
(11:18):
how to compartmentalize. And so youcan have, you know, so many
things going wrong in your personal lifeor whatever, but you come to work.
Your sanctuary is the locker room andall of those things that should affect
people and normally do you got toput all that stuff away and you got
(11:43):
to focus on whether it's the gameor practice or whatever. And then when
you leave, you can go backand pick up all that stuff that bothers
you. So I think, youknow, we had a teammate in Cleveland
was seriously injured in one practice andit looked like it was Fortunately for him,
it turns out to be he couldn'tplay football anymore, but he's fully
functional. But it was a neckinjury. Yeah, he went down.
(12:07):
And when I say it just sucksthe life out of you, it just
because you spend so many hours withthese dudes. You spend more time with
your teammates than during the season thanyou might with your family members and so,
and you know they're out there, whether they're competing for your job,
whatever, they're out there, youknow, doing what they can to make
(12:28):
the team and all. And thenyou see something like that happen and there's
nothing, you know, no movementwhatsoever, and then it's like it it
scares you, and it just itjust as I said, the best way
I can describe it, it justsucks the life right out of you.
And you've got you know, youpray for your teammate. And but as
you said, right then, youknow they get them up and into an
(12:50):
ambulance in that case, and yougot to go back and compartmentalize what you
just witnessed and figure out a wayto either finish practice or get ready for
practice tomorrow. Yeah. Know thatmaybe the scariest moment for me as a
player happened in Greeley. Orlandis Garywas playing running back and him and Tony
(13:13):
Velan met in the hole. Andit was still to this day the most
violent, vicious, one of thosemoments where you say, okay, this
is why the NFL is outlawing runningbacks dropping their heads and Orlandis Gary.
(13:35):
I don't know how many people remember, oh, but I'm telling you he
well, he had tremendous balance.I mean, the guy didn't have great
speed. Of the thing that youhave to love about Orlandis Gary is that
he had great balance and he hadhe was a striker with his helmet,
and he hit Tony Veland and Tonywent down, and that was basically his
(14:00):
career for the Denver Broncos. TheyI mean, we we were down.
I mean they brought out the stretcher, they strapped him in and it was
it was not it was maybe theand and by the way, Orlando's Gary
stayed on his feet and it wasby far the most devastating hit I have
(14:22):
ever seen the offensive player deliver toa defensive player. And he laid there
and they brought that ambulance right inthe middle of the field. We you
know what, I know, wegot to go to break It jogged my
memory at the University of Colorado,we were running sprints after a practice and
had a teammate go down and hepassed. Whoa I mean practice yep,
(14:50):
whoa you talk about He had howcompartmentalize that he had the sickle cell.
Uh, you know, nobody, nobody knew. Nobody knew. Oh man,
so oh yeah, you remember thoseyou remember those. I mean,
it's just you know, it's it'sand now that's a different thing than than
today, but that kind of devastatedan injury for for Quentin Bailey. That
(15:13):
is man, that is that's toughto see. That is tough to see.
All right. We are live fromBroncos Park, powered by Common Spirit.
When we come back, we havenews traffic here at the bottom of
the hour. Kathy Walker our newsapartment with the updates on the fires around
states. We'll get you all thatinformation plus your chances when food fighters tickets
coming up in a matter of moments. Right here on KOA eight fifty ninety
(15:33):
four one FM, we are livefrom Broncos Park powered by Common Spirit.
More updates throughout the afternoon, includingat the top of the hour, but
if something comes down much earlier thanthat, Kathy Walker will have us covered.
The news team has been doing aterrific job all afternoon, and again
we are extremely sensitive to what's goingon around our states. We'll bring you
(15:54):
those updates as soon as we havethem. Five six six nine zeros are
KWA Commons Health text line. SoI found out today that one of the
defensive linemen is a big listener ofthe show, which one DJ Jones.
Oh there you go. He showedup to the podium with a Caprice Son
(16:15):
clearly indicating a big time listener show. There you go man, Caprice Sons
for all the winners. Caprice Sonsfor winners. This was the best and
again and got a big media laugh. For what it's worth, we all
laughed, Uh, this is DJ. When he was asked about what he
has to do different with his bodygoing into his eighth year in the league.
(16:38):
Oh yeah, if anybody tells youknow they're lying or a kicker of
no, yeah, you gotta. You gotta hone in on the details as
far as your body goes. Ifyou have any surgeries or anything, you
gotta take care of things before youcome out here. DJ was in a
good mood today. Yeah, he'susually in a good mood. I mean,
(17:00):
he's such a refreshing guy. I'mso, I'm you know, that
just tells you that guy was allowedto go on free agency from the San
Francisco forty nine ers. So wasour starting right tackle. How much talent
on the forty nine is throwing awayor turning away right, no doubt.
(17:21):
I'm like, just think about that, I'm starting nose tackle and starting right
tackle or guys they just let walkin free agency. It just boils down
to you can't you know, youjust can't keep them all right. So,
I mean San Francisco is in thewindow like this year to win a
Super Bowl. Whether they do,I don't know. But when brock perdies
(17:44):
deal hits, which will be nextyear, there are gonna be a lot
of guys leaving San Francisco because they'renot gonna be able to I mean this,
they better win this year because thingsare going to change dramatically next year,
I think, just from a salarycap standpoint. And DJ by the
way, he was asked about hiscontract because he was the final year of
his deal and we talked about himon his offseason, saying, oh boy,
(18:06):
you know Towry Kapts, so wethought maybe there would be a chance
that they might make a move onhim. I'm glad they didn't, so
am I. And he's been he'sbeen good. Yeah, he's I mean
every single day he does something. They are a better They are a better
unit up front, and it's notto say that they didn't make some key
additions. Malcolm Roach as well asj FM have been really good. Yeah,
they've been really Malcolm Roach, Ihear from so many players on the
(18:29):
defensive line his personality and I wegot to get him on at some point.
He kind of sounds like a bitof a wild card, like his
personality. I mean, I don'twant to completely describe it because I don't
want to miss the mark, butpeople say he's he's a bit of a
loose cannon. You know what I'veheard. He's the kind of guy Al
Al would know exactly what I'm talkingabout. That offensive lineman in training camp
(18:53):
now in the season, ones don'treally go hard on ones, right camp
ones have to go hard on ones, But offensive lineman, there's always like
one guy that's a defensive lineman thatjust is just one of those country strong
(19:14):
dudes that you know you block himin invariably you wind up hurting something,
jams your thumb or you know, hurt your foot. He's just a country
strong, solidly built dude. Ithink Malcolm Roach, I think Bronco fans
are going to hear a lot aboutthis guy. Agreed, and that personality.
I mean, you could talk aboutit as far as defensive line and
(19:37):
red for rush as well, butthat personality on the defensive line, it's
a big deal. And I'm notsaying we've had only choir boys out there
for years, but I kind oflike that we're injecting that this year into
the d line. You know,I think that when you have a good
football team, and this will beat least one hundred times I've said that
on this show, it's because youroffensive line and defensive line are good,
(19:59):
right. Sean Payne agrees the youknow when a team could be good when
your defensive line is loose, right, you know, like if they're loose,
that means that they're confident, theyknow what they're doing, and this
does not phase them. Offensive linemenare a little different because, first of
(20:25):
all, they just started talking aboutten years ago. Before that, you
know, offensive lineman never said aword, right, and so I'm still
trying to get used to offensive linespeak. But well, for the longest
time, you they didn't weren't evenallowed to talk here, right, I
mean, that's not a big thingwith Tommy and the guys. Yeaheah,
(20:45):
that's yeah. Alex Gibbs. Yeah, So our offensive line when I was
here doing thirty two to thirty threethe Super Bowl years, they moved together
in a pack all the time.I mean, it was it was crazy
because you can never just see oneof them, Like it was always all
(21:07):
five of the starters together. AndTommy Tommy Nalan was the youngest one,
and you know, he'd always andthen Dan Neil came and he became the
youngest, and then you know, they just always seemed to just be together
and they talked like if they're onthe side. They wasn't like the the
tackles were over on the left side. And uh, you know, they
(21:32):
were always together and they were alwaystalking like you know, what's that?
You know, hey, we gotto call that trip. You know,
they were always communicating and the defensiveline were always on the sideline, cracking
jokes, having fun. And it'shaving the time of our life, right,
literally, having the time of ourlives. Reporter, reporter season.
(22:00):
Yeah, I guess that was Vday. Yes, yeah, I mean
that's gonna Sergio Dip what ever happenedto mister Dip of his life? But
that was moments and here he ishaving the time of his life. Oh
(22:23):
certainty. Now he's still, yeah, having one more time. Let's say
that one more time. And herehe is having the time of his life.
That is so good for him,That is so good. And they
(22:47):
said that he bombed on Monday night. I just thought it was funny.
I didn't. I didn't think hebombed. He just gave you all the
game. I didn't. I neverheard him do it except the next morning.
I'm like, what is this?Hey, how much it grant do
we have? Do we have? The whole the whole thing where he starts
talking about like and I just havethat, Uh that's all he has?
Yeah, all right, I wonderseriously he's is he calling soccer game?
(23:11):
What does he do for ESPN Deportes? Is he like a studio host?
It says he's an anchor. Okay, yeah, yea, so maybe he's
not doing something as much side ofman. But yeah, that was That
was such a memorable moment. Butit way back back to this why why
(23:32):
why was he on that broadcast? Is it because they were doing something with
Dportes? I think so, yeah, thats what it was a dual broadcast.
So I honestly I don't remember.Yeah, it's been a long time
ago. That was It was seventeen, Is that what it was? Yeah,
coll Lee. But but to yourpoint, you have you have,
you have higher expectations this year becausebecause the trenches at that oh yeah,
(23:56):
I mean they get They clearly getalong. They clearly the offensive line clearly
gets along. They work as aunit. There's no there's no no jealousy.
I don't believe about pay and allof those things that usually go into
it, because everybody's been paid onthe offensive line except the rookie or the
(24:19):
second or third year guy that's gonnaplay center. And they saw Sam Musterfer
out there. Yep, yep.So it's not all the things that could
rip a group apart is not there. With our offensive line and our defensive
line. Just straight, I meanjust straight, go get us, man,
I mean straight, go get us. And I just I just love
(24:41):
the group. Man. I loveour front seven. I love our front
seven. I'm not sure about ourcornerbacks. I'm not sure, you know,
but we'll see, man. Becauseyou know, like everybody talks about
that Super Bowl fifty team and theno flys on and I'm here to tell
you, Okay, I'm here totell you there is no no fly zone
without that crazy, intense, talentedfront seven spoken like a true defensive lineman.
(25:07):
Listen, dude, just go back, go back and look at the
guys. Go back and look atthe guys that were on that front seven,
and you tell me, uh,well, we've we certainly got two
Hall of famers in the front seven. Now, I don't know if any
of the guys in the secondary isgonna make a Hall of Fame, but
we know von Miller is a Hallof Famer the markers were is already in
(25:27):
the Hall of Fame. Uh Andyou know you had Malik Jackson, you
had Big Derek Wolf who was justoff the chain with I mean just strong
at everyone. Jack Barrett was areserve outside linebacker. Shane Ray was our
first round draft pick. I meanthat that that defensive line dog they did.
(25:48):
They couldn't talk, they couldn't stop. It was. It was one
of the It was one of mybest years covering the team because the defensive
line and Wade what he did asa defensive coordinator. He made everybody who
was on the offensive side honor theirone on one blocks. Because what happens
in most pass us situations. You'llsend four, right, You'll send four
(26:11):
defensive linemen to go get the quarterback. They'll usually have six guys to block
four, so two guys actually getone on one with wait wait would send
If your strategy was to send tokeep in six, he would send six.
If your strategy was to keep infive, he would send five.
(26:32):
And so what we found out afterthe Super Bowl, I was talking to
one of the guys on the team, one of the linebackers, uh and,
and I asked, what was thewhat was the plan. Was the
plan always blitz camp? He said, we didn't even it wasn't even called
the blitz. So if they blocked, we went. I was like,
(26:56):
that's a hell of that's a hellof a story. Like and I'm everybody
on that was watching it on deepwatching it on at home. It looked
like Wade was blitzing the handout ofthe Carolina Panthers, but he was not.
If that guy engaged in a blitz, then you go. And that's
why we got so many hits onCam Newton and ruin his career. I
(27:18):
had a really fun conversation, bythe way, with Jonah Ellis today.
He's very impressive again, I mean, he's got an impressive motor. But
he had this moment during the interviewwhere I kind of asked him how practice
was going, and he like voluntarysaid today I had a rough day.
It's like I had a misassignment today. He's like, I'm still kicking myself
about it. I was like,oh, it's pretty insightful. Yeah,
(27:41):
you want that. I mean youwant that from all your players, but
it's especially impressive with the younger guysright that they're that they're introspective, enough
that they can step back and say, damn, I blew that. And
because every one of those little thingsat this level really really writ in college
sometimes high school for sure, it'skind of like, well, you know,
(28:03):
get to get the next one uphere at this level that that's not
how they teach it. I don'twant to hear my bad and I want
to hear I'll get it next time. Right, that's so good on him.
I think Jonah Ellis is and I'vesaid it before, I think he's
taken I think he's taken tick fromsomebody. I just don't I don't know
(28:25):
who. I just don't know howthat happens. I just don't know how
that happens. You know. Soif you say he's not taking tick,
well, I don't know how thathappens. I'm trying to help you.
You played the position I know isgoing to be taking tick somebody. I
don't know who. But I'm just, hey, that's a that's a good
problem to have. I mean,we got three guys right now that are
(28:47):
you know, solid, like likefor us to take uh what was he
third round? Third round? Forus to take a third round? Uh?
Pass Rusher was the third round orsecond round, third round a seconde.
So so for us to take thatguy in the third round signals one
thing. He's taking tick from somebody. They're worried about one of these guys
(29:08):
leaving next year. I think, and we'll we'll talk about this off the
ear. But I think maybe youhave a higher opinion of one guy than
they do. Maybe maybe maybe becausebecause my guy that I have the highest
opinion of is Nick Benito, andthat guy is a guy that shows up
(29:36):
like he's he he's he's the guy. He's the one guy that I could
never do the things that he coulddo. But like what, oh his
oh his speed off the ball isjust I just well, he's he's a
hell of a lot smaller than youare too, I understand. But I'm
just saying, like his bend, his turn, his speed off the ball,
man, it's elite, It's vonMiller elite. His com for this,
(30:00):
I don't know if any right,if anything you say about him is
true, is does he start absolutelyWell, That's what I'm saying. If
if what he shows like, Iunderstand not starting him in year one,
I can even understand, you know, working him in in year two,
year three, he should be thestarter. Okay, so something may be
(30:21):
wrong there. Okay, so somethingmay be wrong there. But I'm telling
you as a just if just asa past rushing outside linebacker, that dude
is absolutely special. I mean absolutelyspecial. But if you're asking me to
put it all together in a totalpackage, there may be something missing and
I don't know what that is.Well, Nick Benito's gonna be here beyond
(30:45):
this year either way, is moreabout Baron Brown Jonathan Cooper. That's right.
So he's he's gonna be here.He should be the starter. Oh,
he's gonna be the starter. NickBenito's gonna be the starter, is
hew? I expect him to bea starter. I think I think you're
gonna rotate in No wait wait waitwait wait wait wait wait wait saying two
different things, do you think thathe's gonna play in front of Jonathan Cooper?
Yeah, okay, No, I'mwrong, I'm wrong. I think
(31:10):
that is good. I mean,I think I think they're all going to
play. I think a lot ofit comes down to your ability to fit
the run stop the run? Right? You know, I haven't talked to
I mean, I haven't talked toVJ about that. At all. But
(31:30):
you want a guy that is notjust a pass rush specialist. If that's
the case, well he's gonna playhimthird down. But who's your best guy
in first and second down? BaronBrowning and Jonathan Cooper? You know,
so, I mean, we'll see. But it's a good problem that it's
(31:51):
a great problem to happen. Sowhat coach, you know, you know,
like I mean, this is,this is I'm a high school coach.
But but you will take three playersdominate a game. I'll turn one
of them inside, you know, exactly be saying to my level. But
the point of it is if ifBenito is a third down guy. I
think the interesting thing between Cooper andBrowning is I mean, they're both up.
(32:15):
They're both up. Yep. Iwas told today that maybe they're already
talking to Cooper Cooper's people about anextension. I don't know that for sure,
but I was told that. Butcan you envision, I mean,
Baron brown is the third round pick. Cooper because of his heart thing,
fell to the seventh round. Butthey're both really good play. Can you
(32:36):
envision? Do they keep one?Do they keep them both? You've got
Benito, you just spend a thirdround pick on jon El's I would submit
if they were happy, like reallyhappy with that room. I don't think
you spent a third round pick ona guy who is a one hundred percent
motor guy brings elite. I mean, he he l his ass off every
(33:00):
play. Well, they also knewgoing into the drafts about Drew Sanders injury,
so that was gonna Drew was nevergonna be an edge player, but
that's what they said. He's good. He is. They think he's an
edge player. They keep saying thatpublicly. I don't know if they do
feel different. He was kind ofa wild card to me. I you'd
watch him and I think he's maybetoo tall to play inside, but I
(33:23):
don't know if he plays out.I'm not sure what he was. I
didn't I didn't understand where they weregonna play him either, because in college
he was a pass rusher for ateam that didn't have a lot of pass
rushers, right, and he playedinside linebacker, kind of like a big
Brian Urlaca, right, a bigguy. But I'm like, man,
(33:47):
I don't know, man, I'mjust I just love the room. I
love it even more with Elis inthere. But I'm like, hey,
look, if it was me,if it was me and I was trying
to get the most out of theroom, then those guys would be rotating
every four or five place. Now, that could happen. That could happen.
That could happen. And if thatis the case, you know,
(34:07):
then Jonah Ellis cannot have a mentalera, right because that's probably I think
where Nick Bonito was, you know, that's you know, but I'm talking
about as a rookie. He wasn't. He wasn't all the way caught up
on the NFL as a rookie,and that's where I think that it's it's
it's probably where he probably needs totake his next step. But of all
(34:30):
the guys, he is by farthe most talented. I just don't know
if he is the guy that understandswhat's going on the most. We're a
