Speaker 1 (00:00):
Nick Ferguson in studio with us here on a Friday.
It kind of bloom me Friday here in the Tech Center.
We got all sorts of fun things to get to
over the next couple of hours, a lot of sketchy weather.
We'll continue to have updates at the top and bottom
of every hour, so keep a lot right here on
KOA for all of that.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Nick, Good to see you, my friend. How are you.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
I'm doing spectacular, man, I didn't sweat today.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Yeah, yes, you look you look so fresh and so clean.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Clean clean, yes, yes, yes I am. How are you doing.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
I'm doing great. I did a lot of sweating. Yes,
I'm sure you did a lot of sweating.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
You can.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
You can probably see that day you. Good to see you,
my friend, you seeing both of you. Also, you did
some sweating with me.

Speaker 5 (00:40):
It was actually warm today, that I mean, I mean,
whatn't I don't think it was hot though, right, No,
it was, it was. I would say the last couple
of days from a like a players standpoint, have been
a little bit of a break weatherwise.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
It's just not fair, you know.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
You guys had two a day's in pads uphill both way,
all that stuff and these these guys, they're so pampered.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
The weather's even nicer.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Yeah I didn't say that.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yeah, that the weather's even nicer for them. Yeah, what
the heck? Ryan?

Speaker 5 (01:10):
I think uh, I think Temper would like to see
you now, Nick, and he would just carry on. Okay, No,
the weather.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
The weather was nice today, warm but nice. It was.
It was nice. Not so nice for the offense. We
obviously got to get to that.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Some news on Michael Parsons, who says he no longer
wants to play for the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Uh, Terry McLaury, we alredy about him.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Yesterday We're checking with Ben all Bright at four thirty
get his thoughts on all of it. But yeah, today today,
I don't know if Dave will start with you, man.
I mean a lot of penalties pre snap penalties, Bonix
technically only through one interception, though I'd say the one
to PS two that they threw a flag on it
was a path throw.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
It was it was just a bath throw. So that
was good.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Almost through an under interception during the two minutes. I mean,
it was just one of those days for the offense.

Speaker 5 (01:55):
It felt like, Yeah, I mean I thought Hufuna made
a hell to play on the on the one pick.
I mean, I listen, if I need to say this,
I don't. I don't feel like I should need to.
But bo Nix is going to have some bad throws
this year. Bo Nicks had some bad throws last year,
and so did Josh Allen, and so did every quarterback.

(02:22):
So did you know, Mahomes. I mean, guys are going
to have some throws where when you let it go,
you're like, uh, oh, you know what. I didn't see
that or that, Oh he was there. I mean, you're
just going to have that. That said, I do believe
what you indicated was correct. I didn't think it was
a good day for the offense.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
There were.

Speaker 5 (02:43):
Five straight snaps that got blown dead as soon as
either before the ball was snapped or as soon as
the ball was snapped. Five straight snaps right the ball
Jared Didham fumbled or or did not get the center
quarter back exchange balls on the ground, and then they
had a wide receiver that lined up covered up the

(03:05):
tight end. And then they had three straight maybe four
straight false start penalties. And so those are things that
you know, those are things that should not happen. I mean,
you you know, I really thought Sean had had I
won't say had gone off.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
But he had.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
He had let his frustration show a little bit earlier
in the practice when he got guys together and I thought,
we get five straight of these. I said, oh boy,
there's going to be an explosion here. But whether to
his credit or detriment, he didn't. And they went on.
But no, I didn't think it was I thought it

(03:46):
was a good day for the defense. I think the
defense has really has really been excited to practice, which
in training camp that doesn't always happen. But I've seen
every single practice the last whatever, and there's an energy
about that defense that I really like. And Jonathan Cooper's

(04:08):
one of the leaders. DJ's one of the leaders, Malcolm
Roach is one of the leaders, John Franklin Myers. There's
a lot of really good energy that you can feel
from that group.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
No doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Here was Shan talking about those pre snap penalties. I
love this point that he made as an opportunity sort
of for learning for the team.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
You're right, he.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Did definitely looked animated about it, but I liked his
view on it, especially at this point in camp.

Speaker 6 (04:34):
A lot of pre snap and I liked that the
officials are here right and they're going to try to
call it, and there's some points of emphasis this year,
and so, man, I'd rather be diving into it right
now than sit here and and so, and I told
the players, I said, I don't want to turn and

(04:56):
argue with the official.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
You know, I've yet to see one of those win.

Speaker 6 (05:00):
I just want to make sure we understand what they
saw and why they.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Called it period, and that's it.

Speaker 6 (05:06):
And so, you know, there were two or three times
we were too deep at tackle. You know, in a game,
you get one warning, but you know, we got to
get that cleaned up. And then we had one period
where you know, it appeared that we had at least
three false starts and so it's easy to point to one.
And then I grabbed the cues and I said, hey,

(05:26):
let's let's make sure we're taking ownership in this. And
you know some of them were check with me plays,
but we got to get that cleaned up.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Dave, how many times before I asked Nick about this? How
many times as a coach have you had, Hey, I'm
arguing with the ref and they've overturned it because they
thought it made such a good argument.

Speaker 5 (05:43):
Yeah, that never happens, you know that. I mean coaches,
I think, and I'm speaking of NFL coaches. Coaches will.
Coaches will stress a point with an official or argue
a call they know damn goodwell that the call is
going to stand. What they're trying to do is to
work that official for a call down down the road, right.

(06:07):
I mean, that's that's pretty obvious. You don't have to
be the smartest guy in the room to figure that out.
But no, I thought that it was interesting to hear
what Sean said, And I do think I think head
coaches at times will be selective in terms of when
they when they want to allow their righteous indignation to show.
And Sean chose today not to have one of those days.

(06:30):
I've seen him bark and bark loudly for less.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
So I think it was intentional that.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
He chose to say, Hey, this is the first day
with the officials, and the officials had our tackles sometimes
in the backfield, and so me griping to the official, Okay,
I mean that's fine. I think that deflects maybe some
of the attention of folks like us in terms of
watching five straight snaps that are unproductive and posts, I

(07:02):
mean pre snap penalties.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
So but again, he's done this a long time.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
I'm sure he sort of has a temperature, sort of
a feel for his team, and.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
This is the route he chose today to go.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
So I'm gonna look at this in a form of wings. Right,
you got your regular, you got mild ic, you got spicy,
and you got hey man, someone called the emergency room
because my tongue is about to fall out. So today
at practice, with the Fishers being out there for the
first time, see, we got the regular. Now we've seen

(07:38):
the extra spicy, you know with the ghost peppers. We've
seen that before. We had right, right, So this is
kind of like the Fishers have to work their way
up to the regular season. This is coach Peyton working
himself up. But Ryan, I'm glad the Fishers out there
because I remember doing OTA's a mini camp. We recall

(07:58):
the balls and strikes as far as whether it's a
catch or not a catch.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
So now.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
So now you had the professionals out there making the calls,
and it changes things because before the fishers get there,
you get away with so many different things on the
office side and the deepest side of the ball, but
it is a point of emphasis to you know, Dave's
point is that they want to make sure that that
helmet of that tackle is breaking the waistline of the

(08:30):
guard and if you're too deep, they're gonna throw that flag.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
And to know that he was like fining him like
in a row is like are you paying attention?

Speaker 4 (08:40):
How many times do you have to stick the fork
in a light socket for you to realize that you
shouldn't do that? And I'm glad there was a milder version,
very mild version, because I know internally, I know he
was spontaneously ready to combust.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Have you ever known anybody to stick a fork in
a light socket more than once?

Speaker 3 (08:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (09:01):
Yeah, coaches in NFL coaches yes, because because.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Metaphorically speaking, yeah, like they say, coaches do it all
the time. Coaches yelled and scream at officials known as
though you want that guy to give you a call?

Speaker 1 (09:17):
And later on, you know what Dart would say about
somebody that sticks the fourk in a light socket and
then keeps doing it, the idiot, Well, that's that's one thing.
Natural selection would say that first probably doesn't really.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Look at you with the Darwinian theory.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
You have all the people that I know, all my friends,
I would not go from you. I didn't think you
were like a Darwinian theory guy. Really, I'm proud of that.
Look like the strong survive in your world. Yeah, I know,
looks like less. We can sit out and talk about things.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
And I don't know how to do math. But when
I went to college four years you did give me something. Yes,
it did.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Something did stick.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
Yeah, that's all you need, right, something has to stick
and whole. You don't have to be an individual to
stick or fork into a socket to learn things. But
as a learning lesson for the guys, they're going to
get better. Every team in the NFL they're going through
the same thing. And when you throw two minute offense
into it, it only makes it worse. Because when God
gets hired, which they will do, that pity and processor

(10:20):
chip shuts down.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
And we had a texture from the eight two, eight,
four or five eight. It was Pat Bryant lining up incorrectly,
wasn't it?

Speaker 2 (10:30):
It was? It was? It was Pat Bryant. Yeah, it was.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
But the one thing that I'll say, and I think
Sean kind of alluded to it. First of all, this
is the time to learn these things, first of all,
and the second of all, there's an intention behind it,
as in the rest are probably calling this thing razor thin,
and I imagine Sean.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Wants that, Hey, I want to I want to get
it done now. Like Nick said the first day, that's right.
I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if Sean said, hey, listen,
if it's.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
Close, call it please because you I mean, it's a
way to get the attention of your players like fellas
you're gonna have. I mean because he Shaan in practice
walked up to Pat Bryant with the official and said, hey, listen,
when you're up there, you got to look over the
official and with the hand signal, you've got to ask him,
am I up or back?

Speaker 2 (11:17):
They will tell you.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
They'll give you hey, screwed up a little bit, or
they'll give you a thumbs up, but they'll tell you
if you're lined up right.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
So that's just a teaching opportunity for a young guys.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
You remember last year the Thursday Night Football, the opener,
the Ravens and the Chiefs. I remember the Ravens kept
calling over and over and over again for a legal
formation right there in the presnap. But we're going, like, man,
this is stuff that you have to have. You can't
be in the first game of the season having this
called against you this many times.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
I'm not sure the Chiefs had that call against them
one time this year, says the hometown Broncos play by
play voice.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
But carry on, was a Jwan Taylor. Yes, I don't
get it.

Speaker 5 (11:51):
He wasn't even the same area code a couple of games.
But anyway, go ahead, Well sorry, they are.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
The Chiefs and you know, you know it's typical.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
But anyways, I think, to Shawn's point, to both of
your points, this is the moment to get that out
of the way. Hey, I want to know. I don't
know if these guys they need to know it. Also,
I think if.

Speaker 5 (12:12):
That's the case, our supposition is true with respect to
Sean talking to the officials and saying, hey, you know,
let's let's make sure we get their attention early. It
would also make sense in terms of his response to that,
because we were waiting for you know, we've seen them.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
You played for Mike. I know Mike really well.

Speaker 5 (12:35):
I've seen and Nick has probably experienced Mike say, you
know what we're starting this whole practice.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
And he didn't say it like this, but it is
radio for me.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
Yeah, I'd like to start this practice over. Yeah, yeah,
I've seen that before.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
And quick story, I was telling my wife this the.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
Other day that usually there are entanglements in practice, especially
when the pads come on and there's a scrimmage, offensive defenses,
high as heated guys is talking trash. And I remember
one year playing for the Jets and par Sales is there.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
And the fight breaks out.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Right.

Speaker 4 (13:15):
I'm not gonna tell you who was in the middle
of the fight. I'm just gonna tell you what. The
fight broke out, right, But he didn't stop the fight.
So my wife said, well, he allowed the fight to
take place. Well, why would he do that, I said,
because he had a reason. Because once the fight was over,
he said, oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize you guys
had that much energy to even engage in fights. Let's

(13:37):
start the drill over, right, So I do I understand
the whole concept of starting things over. And last week
it might have been Trent Sherfield lined up improperly inside
the red zone and Coach Payton told him, give me
another receiver.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Give me another receiver. So pet Brian, if you're listening, make.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
Sure you check with the f I know you coming
from the collegiate game, but if you continue to make
these types of mistakes, is going to hurt your reps
in practice.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
And for a rookie or a young receiver.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
I mean again, Transtorer fields a vet, but you're talking
about guys that are young in their career.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
These are the moments that are.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
Learning and they'll get that also in the joint practice
next week. They'll get that in the preseason game. But
you want to get this stuff ironed out before you
get to the regular season because as we've seen, hey,
a five yard penalty, you're behind the sticks almost immediately.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
It could cost you.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
You could cost you a drive, cost you points, cost
you in wins, and you obviously can't really do that.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
So good stuff there for the offense.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
And I do want to get to the interceptions in
just second, because I think that there's some some interesting
nuance with that. By the way, you don't want to
miss with Sean Payton said about Talana Hufanga in his interception,
it was awesome.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
But it was it was a hell of a play.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
It was great, But I'd say just bigger picture for
a second, because we were talking right before we came
on the air. The offense having a bad day or
a mixed bag day is training camp in some ways.
We talked about this Yesterdaymer. I asked you, I said, hey,
do you need Bonix or the offense to have bad days?
And You're like, I don't need to have that. But

(15:07):
if you do have them, it's more about how you respond,
isn't it.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Yeah, I mean obviously, I think.

Speaker 5 (15:16):
I think from from Sean's standpoint, if if if he
is comfortable with what he's seeing on offense, I mean
when when when you go eleven on eleven, there are
we talked about this yesterday. There there are some there

(15:36):
are some periods that are they're just built.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
And it's going to be harder in this particular period.
It's gonna be harder for the offense.

Speaker 5 (15:47):
Right when you're on the minus ten coming out and
you're in eleven on eleven run Okay, I mean that's
I mean, you find but you find out about the
toughness of your offensive front. Your receivers. Are they willing
to go dig out safeties that look like the guys
sitting across from us. Do they really do they really

(16:08):
want that. You find out just about the overall competitiveness
of your team, but that drill, you know, what you
don't want to see as a head coach is your
offense just gashing your defense. Then it's like, okay, we
got some real problems. That drill set up for the defense.

(16:29):
They know you're not throwing it. Everything is downhill run
fits your quicker. There's not much there. So I think
today you know they didn't They didn't run eleven to
eleven run.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
They had team.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
Part of the beauty of being an offensive minded head
coach is, I mean, if you if you line up
and just say we're lining up in this and we're
running here, stop us if you can. There's a whole
bunch of defensive teams in the NFL that would win
that about eighty percent of the time. So part of
the beauty of the NFL and other levels too, is

(17:04):
if you have a head coach play call or play
designer that's an offensive guy. I mean, part of it is,
you know, make something look like something and then it's not.
You have to give the defense something that will create
a little indecision and a little pause, right, because they're
up on their toes. They want to identify personnel, what's
the set, and then go. And so Sean Payne's been

(17:28):
able to over the years make a defense, you know,
change either the run fit or the personnel now is different,
or now the motion or the cut split or there's
a lot you want to make that defense communicate a lot,
and in practice sometimes that's not happening.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
Well, when it comes to nine oh seven, I'll just
go back to my time with the Denver Broncos and
the one thing that we had to do, even though
you know that it is a run drill because there
are no wide receivers, even though you have tight ends,
is that if you are playing sight and you're sitting
at twelve to fourteen, you have to take your read steps.
You could not come downhill because if you did, David

(18:08):
Gibbs was gonna rip you, and if you did, Alex
Gibbs was gonna rip you too as well. So you
get it from from from from both ends. But also
what Mike would do if he knew that certain guys
were cheating. Safeties are linebackers.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
Pass in nine on seven?

Speaker 3 (18:24):
And because it's nine on seven, it's a run period.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
Who's throwing passes the same thing on seven on seven.

Speaker 5 (18:30):
You know, if you see those linebackers flying out of there,
it's like you're gonna run draw, You're gonna run something
even on seven on seven, Like, hey, every for a linebacker,
every single snap is run first, then adjust to pass,
not not snap the ball. I'm turning and getting getting
my fanny out of there.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
But the great thing about some of those moments is
even though they know what's coming, and you know what's coming,
you still want to see the compete and see how
they respond.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
I think they've seen that. Yes, I mean was it yesterday, Yes, yes, yesterday,
the day before this day with the pats.

Speaker 5 (19:07):
Man listen, Yeah, that was some getting after it. I mean,
I you know, I haven't played forty years. That was
like some getting after Like okay, it's fixing to be
like this, all right, let's see let's see what we got.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
You remember Adam said it was the best man never had. Yeah,
I mean it's that's what we call. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
Get him lathered, Yes, get him lathered. We got to
do that in radio, right every every day you come
in here. Hey, listen, bro, you got to be lathered.
Yes see, is that why.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
You showed me when I walk in the door? You know,
fired up?

Speaker 5 (19:38):
One of the reasons. The other one is I've got
to get to the bathroom and get the hell out
of my way.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
I'm always trying to talk to you, like, hey.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
Dave, gett to go?

Speaker 2 (19:49):
You got to go? Yes, all right, we're off roll
here on Friday.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
A weak back. The Micah Parsons story. Holy cow, he put.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Up one thousand words on social media telling everybody what
he doesn't want to play for the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 5 (20:02):
And remember when I said yesterday, who did I say?

Speaker 2 (20:07):
Well, we talked about Terry McLaurin, and you said there.

Speaker 5 (20:09):
Was another linebacker that I was shocked was traded like
early September, I remember exactly from the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
So well, I want to follow up with that because
there's a lot of speculation, all right, we get that.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
I wanted to remind people if they missed any of
yesterday's show was a really fun show. We had a
chance to chat with a lot of people throughout the
history of Kawa one hundred years of this fine station,
some people, some really special guests, and you go check
it out on demand to ka Colorado dot Com are
on our podcast, but that was for a moment. I
was texting with Rick Lewis earlier. It's just a lot

(20:53):
of fun, Dave. Those lost some really cool guests. You know,
it was good to see. Uh.

Speaker 5 (20:57):
There there were a lot of people that came back
that have played vital roles here that she hadn't seen
for a few years. Right, And and it doesn't have
to be people to sit behind a mic and make
their living talking. There's a lot of people that are
behind the scenes that have had great careers and have

(21:20):
either retired or moved on to something else, but spent
you know, significant amount of time here at KAA.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
So, I mean it was it was good. It was
I think it was good as the.

Speaker 5 (21:31):
Company recognized that, and you know, Scotty came back. We
we just had a great, great time talking on the
air and off about the old days with the Sports
Zoo and a lot of other people that it was
great to see.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
It was really great to see. And we had the
governor on as well.

Speaker 5 (21:50):
Yes, a Polis stopped by pretty cool baseball fan for sure.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Yeah, yeah, said he would.

Speaker 5 (21:57):
He's actually stopped in with Jack and Jerry before four
and called an inning or two. We offered to all
him to stop in and sit in do some color
commentating with with the Broncos out.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
Yeah he's not, he's not. He's not really a football guy.
Do you think he's not a football guy.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
Maybe he seems like it's easier because baseball is a
little spread out, that the pacing is obviously significantly different.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Maybe these is intimidated.

Speaker 5 (22:23):
I know, I don't think. I don't think he would
be intimidated to do it. I just think he I
think he is. He even said it. I'm a baseball guy,
grew up with baseball, have followed baseball. He thought it
was easier to do, you know baseball, I mean the
the I mean it's a slower pace.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
So but he's got to stand in invitation. He does.

Speaker 5 (22:45):
Yeah, Rick didn't like him very much. But we just
get another headset and have three in the booth and
off we.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
Go, and off we go, no doubt about it. All Right,
Well that was really cool.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
Again, you can check it out on demand on the
iHeart Radio app wherever you get your podcast. It was
a fun special show. Back into Today's story. Michah Parsons
twelve sixteen. This afternoon, posted on Twitter over a thousand
words in a screenshot of the notes app. And I'm
going to sum up this thing quickly, but a lot

(23:17):
of past tens started out, Yes.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
I wanted to be here.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
I did everything I could just show that I wanted
to be a cowboy and wear the star on my helmets.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
I wanted to play.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
Notice in past tense, I wanted to play in front
of the best fans in sports and make this America's
team once again.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
He wanted to play with the Broncos. Then obviously I didn't.
I didn't catch that part of the couch. Sure.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
Well, there aren't a lot of Broncos fans out there
saying they'd like the Broncos.

Speaker 5 (23:40):
To trade for Oh okay, yeah, I'm sorry to interrupt you,
but what do they think the Broncos would have to
give up to get Micah Parsons.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
I mean, I think you'd have to look at that
Khalil mac trag, which was a couple firsts and the
third and players.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
It was lots. It was a lots. I don't think
that's going to happen.

Speaker 4 (23:56):
No, I understand the idea that you need pass rushers
in this league, and you need a lot of them,
but known as though the team has already paid Jonathan Cooper,
Nick Benito is waiting in the wings to see what
happens with Micah and Trey Hendrickson.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
Why would you trade an ant to the mix known.

Speaker 4 (24:16):
As though you already have Chie Robinson, who I think
coach said he'll be back on Monday, you have Jonah Ellis.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
I mean, why put.

Speaker 4 (24:25):
Yourself in a situation where you financially shrapp and you're
giving up draft picks. Because when Khalil Mack was traded
from the Raiders to the Cowboys, I think they traded
Mack and a second round pick and in return, I
think Chicago gave up like two first round picks. And

(24:46):
it's like, do you really want to do that? I
know pass rushers had a premium, but do you really.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
Want to do that?

Speaker 4 (24:52):
So I think it's great when guys get released or
if you have a situation like this where you had
that conversation. But the Denver is not a great landing
place for Michael Parsons.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
It was mac a second and a seventh for a
first in twenty nineteen, a first in twenty twenty, a
sixth and twenty twenty and a third and twenty twenty.
So it was two firsts, a sixth and the third
for Mac, A second and seventh.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
That's a hall. That's a hall. Well that's not that's
not as much as I as I thought.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Yeah, I mean at the time it felt like a
massive trade, but we've had so many big trades since then,
it feels Yeah.

Speaker 5 (25:29):
So Mac and a second and a sixth, Yes, a
second and a seventh?

Speaker 2 (25:36):
Correct?

Speaker 5 (25:37):
For two number ones, a third back to back year
years and a third and sixth When were the third
and the sixth immediately the next year? So a one
in the first year, a one to three to six
in the second correct?

Speaker 1 (25:52):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (25:52):
Okay, Well, I mean, if you may, I'm not saying
the Broncos should. I don't think they will. I think
they're they're trying to stockpiled draft choices because they view
that as a premium and they do have bone Nix's
contract at some point coming up, so you want to
have draft choices.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
They keep the salary cap in check. But that said, if.

Speaker 5 (26:13):
You make whomever makes a deal for him, he has
got to be a team that they think is like
right on the verge and both of those, let's say
both of those first round draft choices could be twenty
five or lower in the in the first round. Now,
he is a hell of a player, there's there. It

(26:35):
is undeniable in terms of his ability. So I think
it will be interesting. I've gone from saying the Cowboys
there's no way they will trade him to now saying
I don't think they would trade him, but I'm not
sure they won't.

Speaker 4 (26:55):
If I'm advising Micaeh Parson, I'm going to say, well,
to push things to a certain women and force Jerry
Jones's hand, sit out because you're in a division in
the conference with some very talented teams, and just think
about what what's happening in the division alone. I mean,
you got the Eagles, you got the Cowboys, right, and

(27:17):
you got the Commanders as well, So let them lose
a couple of games.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
You may sit in, go in to camp and now practice.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
Yes, I mean that seemed to be the trend now
instead of holding out because teams can't find you, they can't.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Find you and say, well, you know you're not sure.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
Up, you can come up with the miscellaneous reason why
you can't practice.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
But I think holding in is better than holding out.

Speaker 4 (27:40):
And when you look at what Michael Parson has done
since he's been there, I think he's been there four years,
He's had double digit sacks every year he's been there.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Oh, he's the truth.

Speaker 5 (27:50):
I mean, it's clear that you would want to if
you're going to do that, what Nick said would be true.
He would go into camp and be there and just
and not work because they're really is no benefit. In fact,
there's a detriment if you say, you know what, I'll
sit out this whole year, right because the contract, like
rekicks to next year. So if you if you say

(28:14):
I'm not coming and I'm not playing and I'm gonna
I'm gonna drive Uber in around the Frisco area, then
that the Cowboys say, okay, well listen, we'll try to
funnel you some some Uber customers. But next so your
contract this year, it just kicks to next year. You
don't you don't lose that that year a contract and

(28:35):
become a free agent. I'm not sure who the hell
agreed to that clause in the NFL, but it had
to be agreed by the NFL PA. Uh, not a
very smart agreement.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Yeah, come on, Nick, I'm a bad decision. You're a PAP.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Yes, I'm a PA rep.

Speaker 4 (28:53):
But I'm not a part of the executive committee who
made that dumb ass decisions.

Speaker 5 (28:58):
Who's my man that that's spent about seven hundred dollars
on a strip club.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
Oh that's Lord Howe. I met him earlier this year today.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Where did you meet him?

Speaker 1 (29:07):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (29:07):
I met him at the hotel. Okay, Ryan, that's that's
where I met him.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
No judgments, right, listen, no judgment. So I'm just asking
where if he wanted to meet you. Hey, listen.

Speaker 5 (29:17):
He didn't say. The reality of it is. The hotel
is a nightclub in Atlanta.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
They connected these days. It's called Hotel. It's called Hotel Desiree.
Let's give a big hand.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
Well, I'm into the stage right now. College to listen.

Speaker 7 (29:34):
And he's like, hey, Nick, don't even bring money. Yeah,
working to the stage. Hey, Nick, your money's no good here.
We got this, listen, I got the car, I got
the company card.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
Real.

Speaker 4 (29:45):
So there is an establishment well known in Atlanta called
Magic City, right, So, so so you don't have to
leave the premise.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
They have two at ms.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
Two. How do you know that. I was gonna say,
that's sentimate knowledge.

Speaker 3 (29:59):
I've been there.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
Yeah, yeah, mom man, anyway to go? I like how
you didn't go like my friends.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
I heard no, no, no, no, no, no, I've been there.
That's a bitch.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
Mark.

Speaker 4 (30:11):
It's like when you go to a place around the country,
there are certain you know, places you say, I have
to go there.

Speaker 5 (30:18):
Yeah, and it's right by the bus for Ryan who
was basking Robbins for you.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
It's magic City, Magic City, I get it.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
Flavors specifically, what Sean Payton had to say about the
Talanoa Hufanga interception and the PS two interception that wasn't
but it still was a mistake, and I think that's
something we still can learn from, and I think bo Nix.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Will learn from that. We'll get to that coming up
here at the top of there.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
I wanted to follow up really quickly about the Micah
Parson stuff because we were talking earlier about how some
Broncos fans would like to see the Broncos enter the
chat when it comes to a Micah Parsons trade.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
Now that Michaeh.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
Parsons has officially told everybody, and this is the final
port point of what he tweeted out earlier, he said,
I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys.
My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones Personally.
Broncos fans want to trade Nick Bonito. It wouldn't be
straight up, obviously, but they want to trade Nick Bonito
for Michael Parsons.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
That that's been the discussion today on Twitter.

Speaker 5 (31:19):
Well, I mean, listen, they they're not going to make
that deal. So if the Broncos, the Broncos would not
be able to trade Nick Benito straight up for Michael.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
Parsons, I mean, and some picks. I mean, I think
most most people will leave.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
Michael Parsons is further along as an edge rusher than
Nick Benito. Nic Nickindo's emerging emerging star. Sure, but Michael
Parsons is already.

Speaker 5 (31:44):
Right, I don't think I don't think you'd get many
people arguing against that point that maybe didn't have the
last name of Bonito. Nick Benito I think has a
chance to be a great, great player, and I'm not
I'm not trying to move him, but but he's also.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
Do a contract. See that's the part that for me
why I keep seeing this on Twitter. I'm like, you
realize the Cowboys would be trading for one guy that
wants a contract for another guy that wants a contract.

Speaker 5 (32:12):
Right, well, they would probably before that trade would be consummated,
which is not going to happen. Both players would have
to agree in principle to the contract. True, so, but
there'd be draft choices involved. I mean, I just think
it's it is interesting to Now, if you told me
that the Broncos, which I don't think they're going to do,

(32:34):
as matter of fact, I would, I would seriously doubt
it could could pull that off. I mean, Micah Parsons,
to me, is different than just about every other pass rusher.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
In the game today.

Speaker 5 (32:49):
He's got he's got ability to play the edge, but
he also he's slippery enough that there are times they
line him up, they line him up in the A gap.
Now they've got a Nick would know more about this
than I would, but they've created a package for him
to where he can. I mean at times he's gonna

(33:10):
be everywhere, gonna be everywhere. I mean, they don't give
that kind of flexibility to Nick Benito. But I mean
I love Michael Parsons, no question. This was interesting As
I was looking this up. Benito's twenty five Parsons in
twenty six. They were both born in nineteen ninety nine,

(33:30):
and they were both born on the twenty sixth, well
twenty sixth day of a particular month.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
But one was born and May one was born in September.
So there's a lot of things to like about each
one of these guys. But the biggest thing is to
take away from me. And I don't think Nick Benita
would look at it this way, but this tells you
how fickle fans are.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
So you love me right now.

Speaker 4 (33:51):
In the moment some other hot person comes up, you're
ready to kick me to the curve and marry that
particular person. So for Nick Benito, he has several reasons
to go out there and play well. He wants a
new deal. He should be pissed that he hasn't received
a new deal. But he also should be pissed that
the same fans who rooted for him last year are

(34:14):
the same fans who want another player to come in
here and replace them.

Speaker 5 (34:17):
Yeah, but to me, we're not talking about I get
your point, but we're not really just talking about another player.
If Josh Allen was holding out of camp, wanted a
new deal and now has said, you know what, and
of course he's got a big contract. But let's say
he didn't. I don't want to be in Buffalo. Do

(34:38):
you think, and maybe the rumors started flying that the
Broncos might have an interest? What do you think the
reaction of Broncos fans who right now love Vo Nicks,
appreciate what he did last year, I mean and genuinely
genuinely are excited about what can happen this year. What
do you think the Broncos fans reaction would be.

Speaker 4 (34:59):
Of course would happy because they say, okay, well, the
wrong that took place when Josh Allen wasn't taken and
Bradley Tubb would selected.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
Now the right has now been corrected.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
Well, but to a Dave's point, it's it's any quarterback,
Lamar Jackson or Joe Burrow.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
If it's any quarterback, that's already.

Speaker 5 (35:18):
That guy just a different level player Michah Parsons And
this is no shade at all and Nick Benito. Micah
Parsons is on a different level than I think personal
opinion about any other pass rusher in the league.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Save who TJ. What I'm Miles Garrett, I love TJ.

Speaker 5 (35:43):
Watt see to me again, Miles Garrett is a defensive
end that is a freakish athlete.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
TJ.

Speaker 5 (35:50):
Watt is more, he's kind of a hybrid, some defensive end,
but still some linebacker. Michah Parsons is any line backer
that can you can?

Speaker 2 (36:01):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (36:02):
Okay, So here's a question there for you guys.

Speaker 4 (36:05):
Can Nick Munito get to that point where you can
line him up anywhere on the field?

Speaker 2 (36:09):
That's interesting.

Speaker 5 (36:10):
I think that's an interesting question, and it would have
to be something that Vance would be completely comfortable with, right,
because that's what.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
Mike Zimmer was. Mike Timmer the decordinator last year. Quinn Well, I.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
Mean when dan Quinn's there, dan Quinn moved him around.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
Was Zimmer last year? Yeah? And so did Zimmer? So yeah,
dan Quinn Mike Zimmer.

Speaker 5 (36:34):
I mean when you have the reality is both those
guys moved Micah Parsons everywhere, which tells me that when
you have a talent like that, you sort of take
all of your you know, plays and sheets, say listen,
we're going to do this over. I got I'm going
to figure out how to add of make eleven as

(36:54):
good as I think he can be. So it would
it would be interesting. Now bita Benito has I think
Benito is crazy athletic about Bill.

Speaker 4 (37:03):
Had an interception I'm just saying, but not too Yeah,
and a fumble.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
That's right, that's it. Got an interception in a fumble.
