Speaker 1 (00:00):
Saturday nights, the first preseason game, we head out to
the Kaoe Commas Bear Hell Hotline and bring on your
starting right tackle for the Denver Broncos. Mike mcglinch. You, Mike,
you're on with Benjamin Albright, Ryan Everts.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
How are you, sir? I'm doing well, guys. How are
you doing?

Speaker 1 (00:12):
We're doing fantastic, Very excited for the start of the season.
How is training camp in Fort you so far?

Speaker 2 (00:17):
It's been great? You know, it's been a great battle
between us and the defense. I think we're talented on
both sides, and it's been a lot of great work
getting ready to go and get our first test of
playing against a new team this week and joint practice
and then the preseason game. It's going to be a
lot of fun.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Obviously.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
There's something to shake it off the doldrums of camp with,
you know, get getting some preseason action and the joint
practice stuff. Is there anything extra with you know, so
many of you guys having been former forty nine ers,
any extra juice to any of that?

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Yeah, no, I've been going for three years now. I
mean maybe Huff and Drake and say something different, but no,
I have nothing but love for those guys back there
that you know, I was where I was able to
chance you start my dream of playing my career in
the NFL, and a lot of people still in that
building that I care for deeply. But it's, uh, you know,
it's gonna be awesome. There's a lot of good players

(01:07):
over there, and it's gonna be a good test for
us and to see where our game's at and how
we need to get better.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Where you feel like the offense is at right now
in this point in training camp and as far as
you guys get getting ready for the season, I think.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
We're in a great spot. You know, obviously we're training camps,
training camp, and you're going to make the stakes. Things
are going to be different to you the first time
you put things in the offense, they're going to be
rusty or not quite where we need them to be.
But that's why we practiced. Right It's we got three
or four weeks to go before you know, we start
doing real game prep, and right now it's about sharpening
the skills that we need and owning the concepts of

(01:42):
the play calls. And I think we've done a great
job at that so far. So you just got to
keep going one foot in front of the other and
one day at a time, and we'll be uh right
where we want to be in a couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
You know, the national narrative has changed on the Denver
Broncos from where it was last year. You had a
lot of people talking about five and a half win
seasons at the with the books. You know that the
coverage wasn't the same as it is this year. It
seems everybody expects this team to uh to take that
next step. I mean, you've got you know, the great line,
You've added players in the running back room, you re
signed Courtland in the receiving room, and bow get the

(02:13):
second year. What are the personal expectations for this offense
this season?

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Well, I personally, I think we can be as good
as we allow ourselves to be. I think we're in
control of what we wanted to do things and I
think we're you know, the good thing is is we're
so we're in a great spot. We're talented, and I
think as long as we are on our stuff, we
believe we can be at the top of the NFL.
And that's what we're working for. And you know, I

(02:40):
think we've seen a lot of progress going towards that goal.
But yeah, you know, it's not about being great the
best in week one. It's about growing each game, growing
each week, and being as good as we can be
when Week eighteen and in the playoffs start.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Rum's right tackle Mike McGlinchey joining us here on k Sports.
You guys made the playoffs last year, unfortunately didn't end
probably the way almost anybody wanted to, because you'd like
to win a Super Bowl every year ostensibly, So how
does that game specifically fuel this team in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
I think it was, you know, a little bit of
a wake up call in the way that, yeah, we
had a great run. It was great to get to
the playoffs, but it was a wake up call in
the fact that we have a lot of work to
do to be able to be at the top of
the AFC and at the top of the NFL. We
don't want to just get in the door at the
playoffs anymore. We want to be the ones breaking it
down and making a run. And so, like I said,

(03:32):
the only way you can do that is like handling
your business each and every day and each and every game.
And that's the mindset. The coach preaches every day and
we're doing a great job with that.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
I don't know if you saw the quote. We were
just talking to Charles Robinson with Yahoo. Your coach Sean
Payton said that you're one of seven teams that he
believes they could win a Super Bowl. When your coach
goes out there and puts something like that in print,
what does that mean to you?

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Well, I think it's just something that we all believe.
I don't think that there's any doubt in our building
that we the ability to compete at the highest level
with this league. And you know, we've been building something
slowly for the last couple of years, and I think
we're ready to go. And you know, I think if
you're not trying to obtain goals like that, if you
don't believe that you're in that conversation, then I don't
know why you. You know, you strap up and play,

(04:18):
and that's that's what we're going to try and do,
is to throw and attack it and make sure that
we're one of the last.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
One stand in last one I have for you, Mike,
really appreciate the time so you you chose to come
to the Broncos and free agency. When Sean got here
a few years ago, you were, of course coming to
a team that had just won five games and reset
the coaching staff and we're resetting the culture. I mean
thinking back to that moment when Sean sold you on
the dream the vision of this team.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
How closely in line is it now, I'd.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Say it's right on, you know. I it was an
interesting process going through all that with free agency, and
it's not something that I really love doing. But when
you have the opportunity to have a lot of conversations
with a coach like Sean Payton and and and the
ownership group that we have here, you kind of could
see what was going to be, what what what would

(05:07):
happen eventually? And I chose to put my career in
a guy that you know, has proven that he can
do it and he and he's don't done well over
sustained periods of time. And I knew there was I
knew that this was going to happen. I wasn't sure when,
But I'm happy that it's happened in a little bit
sooner than we thought.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
And you know, I'm I'm very, very fortunate to be
a Bronco Mike, we really appreciate the time, man. Best
of luck, not only this weekend whatever playing time you
guys ultimately have, but also this season.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
Thank you guys, appreciate it all right, Mike McGlinchey, that's stuff.
