Speaker 1 (00:00):
On his way to San Francisco. Gonna be calling the
game as he always does and he's been doing for
the last thirty five years, and be calling the game
tomorrow night. Our cover starts at three o'clock here on
KOWA and to help us preview that game, we're gonna
head out to the Kai Commas Spirit Health high Line
and bring on. Matt Barrows does a fantastic job covering
the forty nine ers for the Athletic at Matt Barrows
on Twitter, Matt, thank you so much for the time.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Man.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
How are you.

Speaker 4 (00:23):
I'm doing well. How are you guys?

Speaker 3 (00:25):
We're doing great.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
We're looking forward to some football light football lights. I
guess he's the best wee you get diet football. That's
a good way because it's it's preseason. We get empt
up for it, and then you get into it and
by the third quarter you're like, okay, yeah, yeah, I
remember what preseason football is.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
But specifically, let's let's start with the forty nine ers.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Boy, a lot of departures this offseason for that team,
and certainly a down year for them.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
What's where's the fan base at? Where's the expectation at
for this upcoming year?

Speaker 4 (00:55):
I say it's measured, and a lot of the departers
were to Denver, so the Broncos gain was the forty
nine Ers loss. And we saw that a little bit
yesterday in the joint practice. No Drake green law, but
Tellanoa Hufanga looked good wearing a new number number nine.
It was in the twenties when he was here. But yeah,

(01:17):
I mean it was suchually you know, the X win
season last year, so that's that's automatically gonna reset expectations.
And as you guys know, the off season is all
about pumping up the expectations. It's just you know, six
months of hype really for a lot of teams, and
the forty nine Ers have had that, you know they

(01:38):
I think the top thing is that some of their
stars that were hurt last year, namely Christian McCaffrey, looked
like they're back. And you know, when you've got McCaffery,
when you've got George Kittle on offense, that's a pretty
good combination right there. And then on defense you've got
Nick Bosa and you've got Fred Warner. So it's still

(01:59):
a team that's got a lot of high end talent.
I think the question with the forty nine ers is
whether they're able to build that second tier, that second
class of players. And I think last year's draft helped.
This year's draft is bill wait and see. But they
need they need the rank and file of this team

(02:20):
to rise up and you know, not get to the
level of a Christian Dicafprio or George Kittle, but be
a good supporting cast for them. And that's really the
unknown right now.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
What is the temperature like with a return of Robert
Sala and what is a de facto trade I guess
of defensive coordinator Sala for Steve Wilks who heads to
New York as their defensive coordinator.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Yeah, I mean it's all been good. You know, Salah's
got his work cut out for him. He's not inheriting
a ready made defense. I mentioned Boson Warner. That's really
it as far as a you know what the nation
at large would recognize from from the forty nine ers.
The rest of the defensive line is then rebuilt with

(03:08):
Greenlaw and Denver that Warner is going to have a
new sort of Robin to his batman this year. And
then the secondary is either young or it's relatively unknown.
So a lot of the pieces of that defense are new.
I think one of the reasons why the forty nine

(03:28):
ers were so intent on Sala was not only the
familiarity factor, but the fact that he's been in this
situation before. He came in in twenty seventeen with Kyle
Shanahan and it was a bad defense at that point.
So he's done the rebuild, the revamp and did that here.
He did that with the Jets. This one isn't going

(03:49):
to be quite the project those other ones were, but
that part of it and Shawa knew that coming in,
and you know, this is part of the forty nine
ers were so eager to get him because he has
rebuilt defenses in the past.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Check with Matt Barrels from the athletic From the fans perspective,
the departures of Drake green Law and Teleno Hufonga, how
were they received.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Well. I think the green Law one was the bigger
disappointment because the people thought, well, first of all, everyone
saw what this defense is like without Drake Lee Law.
Last year, as you know, he only played in one
half of football. It was a sensational half of football,
but that was it, and they really struggled at that

(04:37):
position in the other games, so you know, taking him
away was just such a dark signal about how important
he was, and the forty nine ers tried to resign him,
and he decided that he wanted to go to Denver
money with a factor. But I also think that being

(04:57):
you know, the guy in charge, if he had stayed here,
he always would have been playing second fiddle to Fred Warner.
In Vendver, he gets to be the guy, and I
think that was important to him. So that was probably
the bigger of the two losses. You know, whether that
remains the case in the regular season remains to be seen.

(05:19):
Like I said, I thought the Hufanga stood out at
the practice yesterday. And the forty hundreds don't really have
a lot of ready replacements at safety, certainly not right now.
That they've got a rookie that they drafted last year,
Malac Mustafa, who's who fung alike, but he's coming off
an ACL so he's not gonna be ready to begin

(05:41):
the season. They're going to have two probably two little
known starters, Jason Tinnock and Richie Grant perhaps, so we
don't really know how those guys are going to function.
But it could be that that that whufun the loss
is more sorely missed this year.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Are we going to get back to seeing a Kyle
Shanahan level offense? It felt like last year, you know
it was because of injury and a lot of things.
It felt like it didn't feel like a normal Kyle
Shanahan offense. Here you look at the roster this year
and three of the top five guys for receptions last
year either hurt and contract disputes are gone. I know,
you guys are expecting a big step up from from

(06:21):
Micky Pearsall and he's got all the talent in the world,
but and getting McCaffrey back. But where what is the
optimism surrounding the productivity of the offense.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
Yeah, I think it's gonna be something where the offense
gets better as the year goes on. You know, Brandon,
I you because a big piece of this offense, he's
not going to be available. He's offered an ACL an
ACL plus. Really it was ACL and other damage in
the NY on October twenty, So he's probably not going
to be back for the month of September. I would

(06:51):
say that that's my guess. So he comes back into
practice and then you know we're going to go through
the whole storyline. Well, he's back, but he's not really
fully back. So I'm predicting that you know, by the
end of the season he's going to be back in
full Ricky Pearsall presumably would have a lot more starts

(07:12):
under his belt, and I think at that point you
would see the real Kyle Shanahan offense. Until that point,
I think that you know, the team that's going to
rely on the run, perhaps more than it has in
the past, maybe more twelve personnel, two tight end personnel.
That was sort of their big and I put that

(07:33):
in quotations big free agent signing Luke Ferrell. He's a
blocking tight end. So I think that you're going to
see a lot of Ferrell and George Kittle out there,
and that should make Christian McCaffery happy. I mean, being
able to handle those edges, to do that that zone
running that they do that Broncos fans are so familiar

(07:54):
with from the late nineties. You know that that could
be what kind of gets the forty nine ers going
the season and going well into mid season and late
season when they get some boddies back the last one I.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Have for you, Matt and really appreciates time as always.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Can you maybe clear up or explain what you saw
at practiced yesterday for everybody, because it's been fascinating out
here of course Broncos fans following along on Twitter and
the different perceptions and that's what it is, right, I mean,
different beat people have different views on what it is.
But you tend to be pretty level headed in your analysis.

(08:32):
I'd just love to know what you saw really from
the Broncos side of things, their defense, their offense, that.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Type of thing.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Yeah, I was able to follow both fairly closely. And
we're talking about team situations. Yes, So once they went
into the eleven on eleven stuff, I thought that the
Broncos defense just really throddled the forty nine ers first
team offense, and it was like that for most of
the practice. You know, Christan mccaffery's first run was stuffed,

(09:04):
the second run was stuff. I think the first four
or five we were stopped at the line, and then
then the forty nine ers broke a fairly decent size game,
but they did a good job with him. Ricky Pearsall
was shut down early in the practice when they went
to the move the ball period, this is late practice.

(09:24):
I thought that's when the forty nine ers started to
show up a little bit better. And you know, Party
was able to score a touchdown. U was a it
was a throw to Piers All. The second team offense
also scored. So I think that the forty nine ers
offense started to win the practice quote unquote you know

(09:44):
towards the end. So I'd say Denver won two thirds
of it and maybe the forty nine ers who want
or third. And then on the other side of things,
and I think that Nick Bosha and that defensive line,
Nick Bosa and Bryce rice Huff, the two defensive ends
really reatavoc on the Broncos offensive line. I thought that

(10:06):
the left side of the Broncos offensive line kept letting
them down. And so there were a lot of you know,
sacks in either training camp. Sacks of course, where Bosha
will run by blow Knicks and sort of tap him
on the shoulder or the shoulder pad or something like
that to indicate that he had gotten there. On a

(10:27):
lot of plays though, and this is what sort of
impressed me, and I was behind bow Knicks this whole practice.
He would escape and he would either pick up a
big game with his legs or I was impressed by
what a good thrower he was on the run. He
was really good at improvising, and that seemed to be where,

(10:49):
at least when we're talking about the Broncos first team offense,
that seemed to be where their big plays were on
broken plays where Nis was able to ad lib and
then put together a nice, nice, nice pass down the field.
So I mean, it's something to take away for both
of those teams. But I don't think when it came

(11:12):
to two minutes drill, I don't think that the Broncos
offense did quite as well against the forty nine ers
defense as vice versa.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
Yep, that's that sounds pretty consistent with the people I
was checking in with today. Was just fascinating, And I'm
sure it's the same with you guys out there. When
you know there's certain reports and people will slant it
a certain way, and then all of a sudden, people
out here are like, oh, maybe the Broncos defense isn't
very good because all I'm hearing is the forty nine
ers or score all these touchdowns, and it's like people
need to sort of slow down a little bit, and

(11:42):
I appreciate your level headed approach as always.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Matt, thank you so much for the time that I'm in.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
All right, anytime, guys, talk to you soon.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
All right.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Sounds good, Matt Burrows from the athletic Well, that's pretty
consistent there with what you were saying too, Ben.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Yeah, And I think that again, you don't want to
take you don't want to craft narratives off of practice.
You're just trying to look at this within the scope
of what it is that we've done over the whole thing,
you know, And so that that's the thing, like again,
you don't want to take any at bo being elusive
and being able to throw on the run. Those are

(12:14):
reinforcements of things he was good at last year that,
you know.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
So it's good to see that.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
I don't know about the offensive line again, that's going
to be a thing like we have a very highly
paid offensive line, and certainly every grating service or whatever
out there is counting them. But when it comes time
to practice, all of a sudden, it's a little bit
different story. Is that because we have a great defensive line,
because the Niners have a great defensive line, don't know
the answer to that yet, need to figure that out.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Well, and he said specifically to the left side, which.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Is Powers, and you know it's it's Wattenberg through bowls
and Wattberg Powers bowls.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
So that's just something to sort of monitor.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
But it also does kind of line up with Hey,
if you have one weak link, they're on the offensive line,
specifically the center or if that's kind of what.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
I'm hearing, then it can impact everybody.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Well, and you call it a chain, I mean the
chain's only as strong as the weakest link.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Right, Yep, that's exactly right.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Well, and there is the other guy, right, Ben Powers
is the other one that we have questions about it.
You talked about it quite a bit on BCT, specifically
how they're going to a little bit more wide.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Zone which doesn't actually fit and in Powers all that.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Well, no, it really does. That's not his hallmarker, his
calling card. He's not something he's been accustomed to doing.
A lot of miners has done it before. McGlinchey came
up and it Bowles came up in it. So those
you know, those guys figure to be okay. But yeah,
that's going to be the center and left guard positions
are going.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
To be things we need to keep an eye on.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
So Shorg Sanders's first drive is one of two for
four yards and he just hit a screen pass that ended.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
Up gaining fifteen.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
By the way, his first pass went to Cayden Davis
for former Denver Bronco Just like if you were watching
the Falcons Lions game, the.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
First pass went to David Sills, former Broncos players.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Go. Shorg Sanders just took a shot to Deontay Johnson
that was in. He was kind of good coverage for
what it's worth, and it wasn't much there. Now they're
facing a third and nine.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
Johnson played for basically everything but the Broncos.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
So deanthy Johnson, it's like he's got a punch card
or something like that. He's got the Josh Johnson punch
card where he's just trying to see how many he
can fill up before the end of his career.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
This feels to me.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
For Deontay Johnson kind of one of the last spots
that's gonna give him a chance. If you can't make
it over in Cleveland, I don't know what his future
looks like in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Not like David Sills. Actually, I liked him. I liked
him coming to college. I liked that we had him
here for a minute. That was some nice scrambling by
the way, shoreg Sanders. Maybe work around the right side
and get a first down. So there you go using
the wheels striving. Yeah, well they are in plus territory now,
so good. There you see him there with the shotguns,
nap and wasn't there? Rush came and he alluded it.

(14:54):
That's good, That's what I'm saying, like showing some creativity,
whether they're playing starters, backups. That's the kind of play
that can work for him in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
That was a free rushing proper right there. I just
cashed on six and a half yards for the game.
So how come you make everything about you degenerously in action?
Quite literally? Everything me me. We're celebrating shador Oh game,
so it has to be about you.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
Usually you don't know anything about Flowers.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
Anyways, thanks to Matt Barrows for joining us. We'll get
the interview up at Kaway Colorado dot com.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
I thought that was good.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
His expectations of the forty nine ers he get measured
and it's probably the best way to put it because
you're coming off a six win season, You've lost a
lot of talent in free agency, but they still have
some of their cornerstone players. And that's the one thing
you have to appreciate the forty nine ers is there
tend to be a well built team. And they were
able to retain George Kittle. They kept Christian McCaffrey and

(15:50):
they gave him a bump. They obviously paid Rock Party.
One thing that I probably wanted to ask him about
his take on Brandon Ayuk and that situation has gotten
really weird.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Yeah, and he's obviously gonna miss the first part of
the season.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
You know, everybody knows that.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
So that's you know, that's one of those things. They
have managed to play the we're we're up against a
cap crunch thing fairly well so far. But it's meant
to reload on defense, and that's going to be the
question as we as what exactly is this thing. You've
got a player at each level, but really overall, this
defense is not what you're accustomed to seeing from a forty.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
Nine ers team.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
Well it isn't, but we'll see how they perform. They
still have Nick Bosa up front there, they have huff.
He talked about they've got Fred Warner. I mean they've
still got Yeah, they've got a player. It's level, but
it's not like the other guys. You know, you're kind
of stopp as a good player.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
Yeah, No, I well, and so when I asked him
about green Law, Vers and Nefanga and those departures, said
green Law is the one that hurt them the most.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
The way he framed that though, was interesting.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
He said he's always going to play second fiddle to
Fred Warner, which again I think in almost any linebacker
is going to play second fiddle Fred Warner.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
My be the best inside linebacker in the game right now.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Yeah, Fred and Fred plays the mic the other they
use a two linebacker set. You're gonna play the will
uh So you gonna get a opportunities to rush the
passer too out of there.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
You just gotta be a three hundred and sixty degree
you know.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Linebacker d Winners is going to try and fill in
a little bit this year and see what he can do.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
But I don't think he has the talent that green
Law has. So we got a fourth and one here
at the Carolina twenty six.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
They're going for it. They are at least giving the
appearance they're going for it. Yeah, they're going for it.
I want to see what he does again these compete moments.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
Oh boy, and he goes two ways and takes them.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
It's gonna be a potential grounding because the ball didn't
make it back to the line of scrimmage all the way.
I'm not sure he was outside the pocket, although we'll
see that should.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
Be a flag. Maybe I'm maybe I miss but.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Anyway, Yeah, he scrambled backwards about twenty yards trying to
dodge two defenders and got free on him.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
Yeah, that's that's the stuff you gotta you can't. You
gotta live into that. Yeah, you gotta live to live
to play another day. And that is not it.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
Yeah, so it's incomplete pass. Carolina takes over at the twenty.
So at least it didn't turn into a sack. It
looked like it was about to turn its like that
twenty yards SATs it was like or intentional grounding.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
It just wore down.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
It's just a turnover at the spot. So, yeah, that
could have been a disaster. Well, good be able to
get the ball out of man. That would have that
would have been the highlight reel that again.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
All the haters that alert would love that stuff, and uh,
hey man, that's gonna happen. That's that's where the clock
is especially fast there fourth and one. They know you're
not running it because you're by yourself in shotgun, so
the ball's gonna come out super fast.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
You got you got your years pinned back because there's
no protection back there. You're you know, you're five wats,
you're an empty you know the QB is not going
to run the draw there probably and you get the
mic for that. Yeah, it's it's it's it's a bad situation.
As soon as those guys get free, you got to
get rid of it. You can't sit there and scramble
around and do that. You don't have you don't have
time to try.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
To make that play, all right, would come back.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
I want to get to some really fun Tom Brady
sound where he had his statue unveiled and he took
some shots at Jets fans. He's a really funny he's
a little bit of a t yeah, a little bit, yeah,
but he's funny, funny guy.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
So we'll hear from that. We'll get our sort of
final thoughts.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
About tomorrow's game.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Reminder, our cover starts at three o'clock tomorrow. Benjamin all
Bright Zach Seeker is going to be starting things off
for us. We'll have count down to kickoff starting at
four to thirty. Kickoff at six thirty. We'll walk you
all the way up to account. Broncos reaction. That was
a terrible shot. It was terrible a good shot. It
just hit the little crevice there. So did it go
drop in?

Speaker 3 (19:25):
Did it go in?

Speaker 2 (19:26):
It?

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Listen?

Speaker 3 (19:28):
You missed? Wide right, Albright? Wide right, all Bright. It's
five twenty three the banks a little bit for a
half hour.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
Hey, catch Saturdays Tomorrow's Broncos game with Benjamin Albright at
Burned Down, Denver off Broadway from six thirty to eight
thirty and to win a Broncos Raiders trip in Vegas.
Is all presented by Arta Tequila, the official tequila of
the Denver Broncos.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
We'll be right back on Kawa Sports Broncos Country tonight.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
Come to the top of the hour, you can said
all of it his presets and that way you just
sort of click it along. And for me, I like
a lot of the stations in the building, so I
get a chance to listen to Grant over in KBCO
when he's on and KTCL is another one of my faves.
So just click through and listen to him like you
have in your car. I am a channel surfing person
by nature. Can't help it. I'm gonna set it and
forget it.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
Guy.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
That's that's what the presets are for. That's that tracks.
But for me, I like this can and so the
iHeartRadio app allows me to do that. We'll shout out
to that is now seven nothing Panthers.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
Over the Browns. Just keeping you guys updated on that.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
The Carolina Panthers just had a Bryce Young to uh
Jalen Cocher touchdown. Xavier Legett got thrown out of that
game along with the Ray Shawn Jenkins for fighting.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
I saw that. It's like, man, in the preseason, what
are you doing? Preseason? What are you doing?

Speaker 1 (20:46):
That's uh, that's what a weird thing to do, right
m h. Yeah, So that that just happened. But we're
about three thirty six for remainting in the first quarter
and shorth Sanders is about to head back out on
the field. Bryce Young very quickly here before we hear
from Tom Brady Bryce Young, what is your expectation, I
mean the ad Te mc miller, I mean, I do
like the.

Speaker 3 (21:04):
A lot of the movies.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
By the way, he hates being called Oh really, yeah,
you got to call him the full name. Ted's not
even like I don't know, he gets super weird about that.
There are big expectations for Bryce s Young this year.
This is gonna be one of those things. If he
is not out there performing at the level that they
need to, they'll be moving on after this year. Uh.
And I think they felt like they got the bounce

(21:27):
back after benching him last year. They've Canalis did a
great job of like, look, we're just gonna we're gonna
sit you down for a minute. Have you observing from
the sidelines, Let everything slow down with this process for
a minute, and then we'll worry about, you know, getting
you back out there. When they did, he looked a
lot better last year, so I could have a season
looked a lot better after that mentioning. And so they're
expecting him to take a big jump this year. If
he doesn't, Carolina will be in the market for a

(21:49):
new quarterback after this season.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
Saw some really nice things though, As you said, in the.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Tail end of the season. I imagine if your Panthers fans, you're.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
Cautiously optimistic that maybe he's turned the corner. A good
college quarterback, right, he was slight built and there was
some work, but he had such great processing.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
That you thought he could sort of overcome a bit. Well,
they got him some size at receiver to help out
with that.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
You know, where they can, you know they can, they
can do that, and so I think I think they're
hoping that what they've put around him now will help
him and help him be his best self. But you know,
like I said, that's it's now on him. He's you know,
he's got a full year in the system. They've got
him plenty of weapons, and they're they're expecting big things
out of him this year.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
It's kind of a funny moment, Tom Brady. They unveiled
the Tom Brady statue outside of Gillette and Tom did
speech and in the midst of it said this about
Jets fans.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
But in the end, this statue isn't just for Pats fans.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
It'll also give all the.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
Jets fans something to throw their beers at as they
lead the stadium every year.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Probably in the second quarter, maybe.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
The third, they say a half time come on.

Speaker 1 (23:02):
You know, it's so funny about that, though, the first
thing I thought of He's like, well he didn't say
Bills fans, even though he owned the Bills while he
played there.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
Yeah, like the.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
Bills will care bad while he.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
Was quarterback there in New England. Uh probably owned the
I imagine he had not only a winning record, but
a severely tilted winning record versus the Miami Dolphins as well.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
But he says that about the Jets because the Jets
are probably still going to be bad. Well, yeah, that's
the thing.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
I mean, you know, if they're not throwing their beers
at Tom Brady Statue, you know, the the Justin Fields
will be right there.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
I know. Is it an ownership thing?

Speaker 1 (23:40):
It is an organization that Justin Fields is just bad.
I don't know why the Jets will continue to be bad.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
They hired Justin Fields, the worst quarterback in the NFL
over the last what three years?

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Four years? You could let this one go even close,
You could let this one go.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
Doesn't you feel like they were like, you know, what,
come on, we stunk last year. What we should go
out and do is get a quarterback who's markedly worse.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
He's gonna be great in fantasy, though.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
Which only goes to show how broken fantasy football scoring is.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
Shit's broken.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
It's just understanding the scoring, but it's it's real football.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
The scoring does not reward the worst quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
This is why you lose a lot.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Justin Fields is one in twenty one when not having
a lead in the fourth quarter. He's led his team
to victory from behind once in twenty two two.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
Okay, could you table your dunking on Justin Field?

Speaker 5 (24:36):
These stinks and it's say, it's embarrassing that I had
to put up with these these nobodies on the air
on competing stations back like Draft night, telling me the
Broncos made a mistake taking Patzertan one of the best quarters,
if not the best corner in the game, over Justin Fields,
one of, if not the worst quarterbacks in the game,
and they're still trying to justify it.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
Anyway, Trevon Henderson just took it to the house and
kick off, He's gonna be a he's gonna be a problem.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
He's gonna be pretty good.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
Yeah, on kickoff of the preseason game, and there's already
a lot of hype on Trayvon Henderson. Uh huh, it's
only gonna get more significant answered. Uh your Washington commanders though,
so well, I mean it's the backup, So yeah, I
expect him to take a little step back this year.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
Actually, if there's no goalpost to move, what do you
even do.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
Create shaky ground?

Speaker 1 (25:27):
That's right, there's not quake. Everybody, Come on, leave man,
you're so ridiculous. Yeah, hey, but seriously for a moment.
Then with the Justin Fields slander, can you table that
to tell me why the Jets are going to be
bad forever?

Speaker 2 (25:44):
Well, they're gonna be bad this year because he had
a bad quarterback.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
I'm bad off. It's an inexperienced offensive coordinator. They're changing defenses.
They're changing defenses for the first time.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Head coach would be like, gets all of it.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
So that's gonna be good this year. I watch him
go to the super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
Now, oh my god, this Tyrod Taylor comes in and
takes them to the super Bowl. You better prayed this
tape is not ever final lighted day.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
I mean, what do you want to do?

Speaker 2 (26:12):
It's they have all the ingredients of and that's without
even getting to ownership, they have all the ingredients of
a team that's going to finish in the cellar in
their division. So we had third and seven here for
SURET Sanders see what he ends up doing the closing?

Speaker 3 (26:28):
What were you are you being like this?

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Because yeah, I mean the Jets are going to be bad?
Like this is not what do you think that you
how many games the Jets gonna win this year?

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Probably five or six? Okay, they're gonna be bad. They
might win five or six games.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
Yeah, But it doesn't mean I have to like root
against justin fields against you're anously rooting against Darren Mouji
does a great job there as general manager, obviously rooting
against ruining Again, I'm.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
Telling you what it is.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
I haven't had to root against him for him to
suck through however many years he's been in the league.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
Now there's some people sucks.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
There's some people on Pittsburgh that wish he would have
stayed in a quarterback uh huh until he played this
year and then you know, it was funny how that
offense got light gears better in the minute Russell Wilson
stepped in and light years is a little strong. They
scored double what their average was right off the bat.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
Do you watch the postseason with Russell Wilson. I did.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
When they ran into a top they ran into a
much tougher team than what he wanted to do.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
At that point.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
I saw Pat Fryer move drop a very easy catch
that would have kept that drive going.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
I did watch that. I mean, wouldn't have guaranteed anything.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
They wouldn't have, but it would have kept the drive going.
What Russell Wilson's fault? And he was staggeringly mediocre. I
pattered my radio game after.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Bronco's Country tonight coming up at the top of the
hour of a pitch.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
But Oliver, I'm sure he'll have some more glowing things
to say about the Jets organization.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
You know what grinds my gears? What does grind your gears?
People talking about Justin Fields tried to pump Justin Fields up.
I'm like, did you never watch this guy play ever?

Speaker 3 (28:07):
Now's your chance to think.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
A teacher with iHeartRadio Power by Donors chose nominated out
standing public school teacher who's gone above and beyond for
their students to win five thousand dollars to stock their
classroom in Denver Alissa Harkstark, a speech therapist at Corey Elementary,
is nominated. Alyssa works with students to communicate communicate effectively
in and out of the classroom. She also educates teachers

(28:31):
and parents successful communication skills with autistic students. Stocking Alyssa's
classroom would make her therapy fun and successful. Nominate your
favorite teacher now at iHeartRadio dot com slash teachers.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
Boot laid down to his left. It's kind of a
nasty a little passer from right.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
That was a dot that was that was a nice
pass right, kind of threaded right between several defenders.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
It was good past man.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
That's good, and that's they listen the legend of Shure
Sanders did the watch thing and all that. But it's
gonna but the thing, more than anything is that he
gets a chance on this stage. There's another couple of
games going on, but a lot of people are gonna
be watching Shure Sanders tonite.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
That highlight is gonna play a lot.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
And for Cleveland Browns fans that are starving for quarterback play,
for competent quarterback play, there's gonna be if he can
continue this through however else he plays for this swell
for Joe Flacco.

Speaker 3 (29:33):
That's the default position. But that's what I'm saying will
be if the rookie's playing well.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
And you know just as much as I do that
in the NFL, man the backup quarterback, especially the young
rookie quarterback, that can be one of the most popular
positions on any roster, and especially when you're considering Deshaun
Watson's not going to play. Joe Flacco is option A,
which nobody really wants to do.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
You'd lotch C. Sanders step into a more prominent opportunity here.
I would say, so far, he's he's doing what the
brows need. I'm not.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
He's not out there lighting the world on fire, but
he's doing what the brows need.

Speaker 3 (30:06):
And you continue to try and build off that. There's
all sorts of fun reaction to your rant in the
last segment. So good.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
If Justin Fields makes a Pro Bowl this year, maybe
you could get a tighty Justin Field tattoo on your
lower back.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
I'll get a Justin Fields tattoo wherever you want. Justin
Fields is not you got it on tape now or
whatever digital file whatever it is, save that one. Like, look,
I Justin Fields is not making the Pro Bowl. I
don't think he's making through the season as the starter.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
Just because you triuble down on it, just because you
are rooting against them.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
I'm not rooting against anything. He's objectively terrible. That's that's
either rooting for or against it. He just sucks this one.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
Maybe us not drafting Trevion Henderson or a mistake by
US not drafting trivia on Henderson open that Dr J.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
Harvey works out well.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
I was a plan when Baron filed their lap though
they were gonna they were gonna trade back and take
Trey Henderson and Mason Taylor.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
That was the plan, and that was the plan.
