Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's let's send down the locker room talk with head
coach Sean Payton Seawn's Dave Logan. Let me just ask
you your thoughts from the sideline on the game.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Yeah. Look, I just finished talking to the team about it.
You know, I didn't like how we started. Uh, both
first units started slow. Then as the game began to continue,
there were a number of things that that we're going
to be able to look at. The turnovers were positive.
I didn't like the penalty statistic numbers. Wise, there's a
lot to uh, there's a lot to really coach up
(00:32):
off of relative to tonight's game, and and and and
still the day of full practice as we're coming home
from this weekend really and we just finished talking about
the debrief, you know, when when you're returning and and
being ready to take valuable information, valuable stuff that we
(00:52):
need to need to get cleaned up. When we look
at this game, we'll see a number of positives relative
to the evaluation process. But I think, you know, the
early impressions were slow start, and then uh, and then
we got going and and I thought the energy effort
all that stuff was good and we kind of go
(01:12):
from there.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Yeah, last thing. Talking about guys, I don't get a
chance to talk about too much, but I thought Jared
Stidham came in and actually played pretty dog on well
back in the bow Knicks.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yeah, he sure did well. There's a poise with him
and experience with him, you feel a veteran player. And
man made a heck of a throw a touchdown pass
that that that he connects with with Sherfield was a
real good play. But Steady's been been real consistent and
(01:48):
I think there's a poise with him and I I
thought he did a good job as well.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yep, Sean, thanks for the time. All right, thank you, David.
You bet that Sean Payton in the locker room. Let's
sit down to the locker room talk with the starting
quarterback for the Broncos Bow nixt Bow. It's Dave Logan.
Thanks for your time. We just talked to Sean Payton.
I'll start with the same question, what what did you
What did you think about the first performance of your team?
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Well, I thought, you know, we started a little slow,
but the guys uh just kind of rallied and we
made some plays as the game went on, which was
really good. We got a lot of turnovers from defense,
which is always a good thing, and we were able
to capitalize on them, and sitting in Sam thun some
touchdowns you know they're in the second you know, second half.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
It was.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
It was really good to see and I thought we
as a team, we played well.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Yeah, you've got I know you don't have a decision
in this, but you've got you got a crowded running
back room. Man, I want I just want to ask
your impression of R. J. Harvey, who got to start
the rookie out of Central Florida, showing some really good
quickness and speed on a couple of those plays.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Yeah, he did.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
I thought all the backs ran well. You know, you
can tell they're in a competition because they're all playing
really hard, really aggressive, running the ball really well. They're
being tough, doing what they're being asked to do. And
I think that, you know, it's just gonna come down
to the guys that you know can be you know, explosive,
and right now they're all showing that. So I'm excited
to see how that shakes up.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Yeah, I get you out of here on this. Uh.
I thought San Francisco dialed up frankly a little more
pressure than I thought they might in this first preseason game.
When when you think back to that, uh, you guys
played a quarter in a little bit. Uh what what
did you see from the Niners defense.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Yeah, they were giving us a few different looks. You know,
they had a good pressure package that they showed for preseason.
Normally it's not quite like that, but I think they, uh,
you know, they did a good job of scheming this
up and trying some different looks and we uh you know,
reacted to it.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Well.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
I'm sure we'll watch it and have some corrections, but overall,
I think, you know, we controlled it well. We moved
the ball and we just obviously the first couple drives
and you're standing corny touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
So I just got to.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Get back to the practice this week and you know,
just get better as a whole.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Appreciate it both, Thanks for the time.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Thanks you bet.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
That's Bo Nicks in the Broncos locker room. We're gonna
head down and uh check in with Susie Warden, who's
standing by with Broncos wide receiver Trent Suirfield.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
Yeah, thank you. They appreciate it. Trent's giving a hug
right now to a Niners player. All right, hey, Trent,
tell me a little bit. Go through that touchdown reception.
It was obvious to see that. I mean, those were
your vet skills come in, but perfectly placed by Stitty too.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
Yeah for sure, absolutely, Yeah, first and foremost, I just
gotta give credit. Got to give credit to God because
you know, coming off the sideline and you know, it's
it's this.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
This game is.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
Hard if you don't have a rhythm, and you know
that was my first series going in, and you know,
I just got to give all credits to God, but
first and foremost. But uh, you know Stitdy, he plays
the perfectly ball for me to go and make a play.
He actually when he was coming out the huddle, he
already told me he was throwing me the ball. So
from jump Street, we knew that that. I knew that
that ball was coming up in the air, and uh,
just great for the guy that I had the opportunity
(05:09):
to be able to make a play.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
So and then it gets reviewed. But everybody, you're all
watching on the sidelines, I was watching you. Did you
know it was a touchdown? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (05:17):
Yeah I did. I Well, I looked up at the
riffe and I've seen that I've seen that he you know,
he threw his hands up, and it's always obviously you
got to make sure your feet are in and stuff
like that. But when I got up and seen the
jumbo tron and seeing it at my feet in and
I'm glad that I had on I'm glad I had on.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Blue cleatson, not white cleats.
Speaker 5 (05:31):
So so you can tell the difference. You can tell
the difference between the grass and the white.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
So yeah, absolutely, train.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
You come here as a free agent, everybody talks about
you making making a difference on special teams, but based
on today, it looks like it could do a whole
lot more than that.
Speaker 5 (05:43):
Yeah, for sure. I think that's been my That's been
my whole career.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
You know.
Speaker 5 (05:47):
You know, I've always snuck through the back door on
special teams, you know, starting down in Arizona, and that's
something that I still take pride in.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
But I also take.
Speaker 5 (05:54):
Pride and just being a football player. You know, every
single summer I go out and I trained, you know,
a receiver in I trained special team tams. And that's
something that I always try to make sure that I
just that I stay on top of it because I
don't want to be limited to anything. I don't want
to be limited to a special teams player. I also
don't want to be limited to just a receiver as
well as either, because I think that that just just
can prolong my career. And you know, like again, I'm
(06:15):
just just grateful to be here undrafted, you know, going
in the year eight. You know, if it was up
to anybody, you know, anybody else, everybody else, I wouldn't
even here. So I'm just grateful to God to just
to be here.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
So we like those dogs here, Trent, welcome, Thank you,
all right, congratulations, Dave back up to you.
