Speaker 1 (00:00):
Rockies Baseball coming up, and we're looking forward to seeing
if they can get back in the win call.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
At least I am. I know that Nick, deep down,
maybe you are.
Speaker 3 (00:07):
As all that what I want the Rockies to win.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Okay, Yes, it's tough to know. Sometimes it mean it's
tough to know.
Speaker 4 (00:17):
We talk about this stuff off air just like, no,
I'm not Look obviously it's very disappointing how the Rockies
here perform, and we all know that no one's happy
about it, and I would like to see them going around.
Like I remember, let's say, forty games ago, I sat
(00:39):
in this very studio, then sat in the other chair
and I said, well, I would love for them to
go on the run where they could win a couple
of series. And I think we talked about it, like
could that happen? Because the season is to a point
where obviously not in contention for anything, So now the
ideas can they little small wins and winning a series
(01:03):
that that's that's a win Because the fan base needs
something to keep them positive. You, Ryan Edwards needs something
to kind of keep you going ending here inning there
a series here, and I'm just saying I'm rooting for
you thank you to keep going.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yes, I appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Yes, I'm a positive person.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
I know that about you.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
I'm rooting for you.
Speaker 5 (01:30):
Rocket.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Let's let's stop the seven game, loses the streak and
that'll be that'll be a nice thing. Yes, you gotta say, Lewis,
you should get chase the o lander on the mouth.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Let's go.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
I mean, look, the Yankees hadn't feared that will in
last couple of games.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Too, So you're still wearing the hat and studio and.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
I'm gonna keep wearing.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Supports your team.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
You supports your team.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
So a couple more thoughts here on the Broncos, and
we're going to hear from Boenix and Sean Payton, who
spoke with Voice the Broncos Dave Logan after the game.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
We'll get to that at four thirty.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
I thought the running backs looked really good. I guess
I went in with relatively low expectations because we haven't
seen anything from the running game, especially last year.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Great low expectations.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Well, we don't get a chance to fairly judge the
running game at training camp. In my opinion, it's a
difficult facet of the offense to judge, would you would
you agree with that sentiment?
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Yeah, And the.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Reason that makes it really difficult because there's not a
lot of contact.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Guys have them pass, but not a lot of contact.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
This is why I love drawing practices and I can't
wait popping.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
It's gonna be great. And that's gonna be on Thursday
for the Cardinals. And that, by the way, that's open
to the public if you have tickets. Well, you don't
know when a running back is gonna break tackles in practice, right,
you get the touch, the two hand touch, and that's it,
and that the play is dead. You know they'll have
to play run on but you don't know if that
running back would have done something with it. And you
have physical running backs like Addric Estimate JK. Dobbins estimate.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Hey, probably one of the more physical runs that I've
seen in this time here with the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah, that that catch and run that Audrick Estimate had
and in fact, this is what it sounded like.
Speaker 6 (03:13):
Climbs, the pocket hits the check down. Estimate has got
some room to run. Estimate runs through a tackle and
the big back breaks a couple of tackles. He's got
a first down with second effort inside the thirty to
the twenty nine, Jalen Mahoney finally gets him down.
Speaker 5 (03:27):
That's just on a checkdown route.
Speaker 6 (03:30):
It's a catch and run of twenty yards on third
down to nine, first down denver at the niners twenty.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Nine and and honestly, they don't they don't get the
first down without audricck Uestimy, Like that's a checkdown. You
have all the defenders with their heels at the line
to gain and he had to break three four tackles
in order to advance the ball past the line, and
then he of course got in more. Blake Watson looked
really good. I think Tyler Bdey had a couple of
nice runs. Jelli mcgloughlin got kind of hosed on one
(03:59):
because he had a run down to the goal line
that got called back in a legal man downfield or
maybe it was a holding call from Pat Bryant. I
think that's what it was. But I thought all the
running backs and even r J Harvey. RJ Harvey, who
ended up starting out there, had a really nice eleven
yard game around the outside, and people kind of dinged
him for kind of trying to bounce the ball outside
(04:19):
too much.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
But I thought he even looked good, really explosive out there.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
I don't know who these people are that you speak
of who banged him.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
I guess for bouncing to play outside.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
But this is kind of what you do because let's
look at football from a mathematical standpoint. There are more
guys inside than are outside. And sometimes the play could
be drawn up where it has to hit between the
A and the B.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Gag.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
There's inside trap or wham type of play where they're
trying to allow a guy to penetrate and then wash
him out.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
And create a lane. Sometimes it's not there.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
So as a running back, it's like we always talk
about doing a free draft process. Oh he's got great balance,
he's got great vision. Sometimes it requires you to use
that vision. Now, a coach wants you to stay in there,
but sometimes you see things, and.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
As a player, you have to adapt to what.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
You see on the field, and it's not going to
be exactly the way you drew it up in practice.
Case in point where we're talking about not a lot
of contact. In practice, you can run through that hole right,
and then you run into the daylight and the fans
clip and it's like, well, in a live game, guess
what that lineback is gonna plug that begap. And if
(05:37):
you're running back can't run through him or step forward,
step back, jump cut and get outside, you gotta.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Have a problem a one hundred percent with you.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
And in that case, you want to sort of trust
the running backs in sinks. We'll see what the adjustments
are overall for the offense anyways, coming up in this
joint practice as well as on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
But that for me wasn't too big of an issue.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
I guess it would have to be something we track
over time, because I do remember, again we missed Ronnie Hillman,
but I do remember that being in the conversation about
Ronnie Hillman, he was like he always seemed like he
was trying to bounce the ball outside, and there was
this stigma they got attached to him that he didn't
want the contact, and that became sort of a I
know you listen, you certective. I'm just telling you that
was the thing that kept being assigned to him. Is
(06:19):
he is running backs that tend to want to bounce
it outside a lot, is because they're trying to get
away from the big guys there in the middle that
are trying to devour them.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Go ahead, Yeah, I'm sorry, what the hell are we
talking about? This is football, right, when the hole is clawed?
Speaker 3 (06:35):
What did they want you to do?
Speaker 4 (06:37):
Fine?
Speaker 3 (06:38):
Daylight?
Speaker 4 (06:38):
So the idea is that you can't penalize a guy
for looking to find daylight, and especially if that is
his mo that's part of who he is. So don't
just say, well, since he's bouncing it outside he's scared
of contact. Well, those people who are saying that, get
your ass and then let me see what happened.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
They see how much contact you go run through?
Speaker 4 (07:00):
Can you put all your big boy draws like Derrick
Henry because that's a lot.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Of so tall built like Derek Kenrick.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
I don't care, right, but but this is what you
see when people analyze games and fans and fantasy owners
saying what a player wouldn't do, But they wouldn't bust
a great bit of fruit right if they were in
the same position.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
Right. So the whole idea is that you want a
running back.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
How many times have we talked about y'all like Barry Sanders,
but Danian Thomason, why.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Their vision right?
Speaker 4 (07:32):
They get that jump cut and be able to go
out there and to just say sometimes that play may
not be out there all the time. You may have
to run an a gap. But understand who these guys are. Naturally,
the Broncos defense are gonna face Saquon Barkley this season.
Guess where he loves to run the ball outside? You
know why they are less defenders.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
It's like you.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
NFL players are players for that matter, are con attack
to criticize it for the lack of acumen, not being
smart or being stupid. You know what I think is
damn stupid constantly running into a brick wall.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Why continue to keep running in there? Get outside?
Speaker 1 (08:13):
As we're saying positive about it, I wasn't negative even
in Broncos react after the fact, and of course we'll
let Broncos react back after the Broncos Cardinals game this
weekend Saturday night.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
But I felt a lot more and even watching.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
It again again, I thought it was I thought it
was a really good performance overall from the team. I
don't know, maybe some people have different perspectives, and I
think some of it is waited by expectations. But I
watched it again today a couple of times, and I
just kept thinking about how great the depth of this
team is and how difficult some of these cuts are
(08:49):
going to be.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
That was my overwhelming takeaway.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
You know what I was thinking about, Ryan.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Please tell me I thought about two this weekend.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
Oh boy, watching the Broncos game up in Santa Clara,
Because even though the offense you know, had his early sputters,
Jared Stidam came in, he played well Fince Sheffield. He
really showed what he could potentially be and add to
this offense. Not just what he can do from a
(09:19):
special team standpoint, but the catch that he made. That
catch is very difficult. It is a catch that I
have often gotten into back and forth conversations with one
Benjamin Albright as far as the level of difficulty that
(09:42):
comes into play when you're trying to track a ball.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
A defender is in phase with you.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
You're trying to maintain body control and stay focused on
the ball and you're tracking it over your shoulders. One
of the more difficult catches to make. But what Trent
Schaffield did, essentially he was took everything that we saw
in training campus fog that he's been doing and translated
to the field to go like, oh okay, now, A
(10:10):
and b's is kind of adding up, and you're why
there with some other guys who had some great performances,
uh in the game.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
But going back to the interview and.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
Thinking of a performances, I couldn't help but think about
the defense.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Some of the plays that were being made. Chris Abrams drain.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
Should have had an interception, should have had an interception.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
He was trying to get keep his feet in, but
you know it's very difficult.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
Do you think I thought he got it? No, I
mean they called it back because of allel hands.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
But yes, I think I think one the one he
was trying to drag didn't really didn't quite get in.
But Jakwa McMillan like early in the game, yea burned. Well,
why should say he got burned? I mean, because that's
that's not fair to be burned. That means someone has
at least three to four steps on you.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
That's fair.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
Right, you're right, let's just put it in perspective. He was,
he was, he was right there in phase. Just so happens,
great catch, great throw, Sure you're right, but not to
be outdone and not to be pushed it. Aside as
Jaday Baron is coming in and everyone's already moving him out,
you know, just kind of moving his locker out. He
(11:26):
makes it play.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Not at the nickel position, no no, no, no, no no.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
He made a play at the corner position running the
route or the wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
I'm just saying the interception.
Speaker 6 (11:39):
Mac Jones trying to solidify his spot as a second
team quarterback here in a little bit of a battle,
believe it or not, with Carter Bradley, Jones takes a
low snap, deep drop, looks left, throws the outcut, and
that ball is going to be intercepted. I believe the
ball was low, but I think this will be ruled
as an interception.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
That is ja Kwan McMillan, Mac Jones, who who so good?
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Yeah, listen, man, I'm with you, And he's got to
keep his head in.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
The right place, right because whatever Jaday Baron is going
to be for this team, Jaquan McMillan is a very
talented player and he is He's number four on this
step charge as far as I'm concerned at cornerback. Now,
that's just assuming Jaday eventually will be the starter, because
the first round pick you generally get those opportunities. But
in the meantime, if Jad Day struggles and maybe is
(12:34):
more of a dime guy in your early I don't
know version of the secondary, Well, then Jake one McMillan
is a starter again and he needs to keep playing plays.
You're right, I'm glad you corrected me on that about
him being bird. I think it's because it's a fifty
yard play. It's such an explosive play. He tried to
make a play, He tried to do something for the ball,
(12:55):
but it just wasn't there.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
There wasn't an option for right.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
That route is really difficult to defend. That's a slot fade.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
That receiver has the ability to fade off that red line.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
And what I mean by the red line.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
If you look out there in practice, there's always a
red line, and DB's always taught you get a receiver
off the red line.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
He did a great job.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
He was in phase, and I don't know why everyone
was quick to just kind of push him out of
the way and just go ahead and just cebmit Johnny Barram.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Part of his is the draft pick, how high it is.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
And then I think the other thing is is he
had some struggled moments last year wasn't all on him.
There were some safety issues as well, but.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
I'm glad you said that.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
I mean, we have to be fair. We tried to be.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
But the fact is is, it's like when there's any
issues in the secondary and then you see the corner
chasing or you see the corner getting quote unquote beats, well,
then you say, well, he's really having a bad game.
Doesn't always tell you the full story. But the fact
is is by the end of the season, the secondary
was having some problems and unfortunately for Jquon McMillan. And
we can come back and talk about this more. Jaquon
(13:59):
McMillan was part of the conversation of that.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
We'll get back to that. Plus we're gonna hear from
Bonix and Sean Payton coming up next.
Speaker 6 (14:05):
Playfake and Jones will be hit and sacked and that
is Nick Benito off the edge, big play by the
four year linebacker and of Oklahomas mac Jones with a
playfake and then looked back to his left. By the
time he turned around, he had a face full of
number fifteen in a white jersey. It's a loss of
six second down and sixteen.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Mac Jones probably having some nightmares about number fifteen after
the fact, but he had a sack. He shared a
sack with JFM, and then he had a pressure I
think in I don't know, I saw somewhere that he
had to have like four pressures on the night something
like that, and of course he ended up with a
sack and a half.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
It was an.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
Unbelievable The price tag is not going to go down
on Nip Benito. I'm just lett y'all know now, we'll
continue to go up. In fact in Broncos React and
you guys can go listen to it on demand right
now Kwaclorado dot com ra and then completely free and
totally awesome.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
iHeartRadio app. We posted those podcasts after the fact.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
There were people calling in saying I'm a little worried
about the price tag of Nick Benito. It's like, well,
there's nothing you can do about it because it's only
going to continue to go up. And for Nick Benito,
who as I understand it, did have an offer in
front of him, is probably wise to bet hunt himself
and to see how the rest of this market continues
to play out. With Trey Hendrickson and Michael Parsons, Steel's
(15:20):
still not done.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
So I'm with Nick Benito on this. You're a youngest
ending player.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
You had a thirteen and a half sack season last year,
top three, and you think you can get around fifteen
or so this year, Well, then maybe you are going
to put yourself in that mid thirties versus the mid
twenties to high twenties, and then, honestly, you should do it.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
That's like an Andy Warhol painting. It does then go
down in value, it only increases. So it's best that
the Broncos take a look at the situation.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Now that Zach Allen has.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
Done, Courtland Sutton is done, it's now you look at
Nick Benito and I'm sure that George Payton. They're trying
to figure out the best way to actually to do this.
But Nick Benito continued to show up the way that
he's showing up, And the biggest thing is his get off.
Like from year one to where he is right now,
(16:16):
it's light years away from what it started, what he
started off doing it Now instead of being just considered
to be a third down pass rusher, he's now worked
himself into being an every down guy.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
That's a lot of value.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
And with quarterbacks in this division and this conference being
very mobile, you better have a guy who's a running
chase guy who can help Zach Allen get of the sacks.
DJ Jones all those other guys on that on that
defensive line get sacks. And Nick Benito every time he
(16:51):
gets off like jumping off the ball. To me, that's
like you pull that that that that dollar sign like
you have to like bake. I'm not saying that you
need to go to Vegas, but you just keep pulling
it right, those Mario brother coins, that's what he's doing.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
I like that. You like that place Mario this weekend? Yes,
kids love Mario. I don't very fun and nostalgic for
me to play.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
Yeah, I don't play with my wife.
Speaker 5 (17:16):
Why not?
Speaker 3 (17:16):
My wife's kind of cheese though.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
At Mario? How do you shoot Mario?
Speaker 4 (17:21):
Okay, so when you on a split screen and you
have to get the coins right, So what my wife
would do, it should jump on top of your character's head.
It makes you shrink and then all your coins come out.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Oh this is a different Mario. Then what is this on?
Speaker 3 (17:34):
This is one of those little handheld devices?
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Oh like the switch?
Speaker 3 (17:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Okay, yeah, different Mario.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Yeah, I don't play. That was my wife no cheats.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
So wait, in one show, Dick, you threw your wife
and your father under the bus in one show, like
separated by an hour.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
Here, Okay, I'm just said my wife cheat some time?
You know in the game, did I take.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
I was just playing the game.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
No, they're not.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Is that the game?
Speaker 3 (18:09):
No it's not.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
They wouldn't put it in there if it was.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
No, the idea you collect the coins. How many coins
can you collect opposed to your opponent can.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Get to the end, all right? And they say anything about,
you know, jumping on the head of something else and.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
Then losing your coins and you're trying to get the
mushrooms and she's shooting you with the file with the fire.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
Yes, we're gonna have that sound effects forever.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
There you go, thank you.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Well, this is a different.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
Mario that I play. I play Nintendo Wii with with
my daughter. Okay, so it's a little bit different version.
But yeah, there's still things that she does that that
messes me up.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
But it's my kid. You know, we're good, we're having fun,
we're bonding.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
I look at big picture, and like you, I look
at the big picture.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Opportunity to bond with a family member.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
You, on the other hand, you're like too competitive to
hang in there and understand that.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Hey man, that's my queen. She's good.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
No, I don't play games like that.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
You have to.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
Hey, coach Herman Eir was saying, you play to win
the game. That's why you play, even preseason games. You
play to win.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
Do you spike the revote? Would you win?
Speaker 5 (19:19):
No?
Speaker 3 (19:19):
What do you think I am? I am a graceful winner.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
I'm sure you are.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
What do you think?
Speaker 4 (19:26):
Why do you look at me with that condescend They
look like but that big smile like, oh, I'm sure
you are.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
I'm sure you think you are?
Speaker 3 (19:31):
What I am?
Speaker 4 (19:33):
Okay, Yes, I can win and lose gracefully. I don't
have to show both.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
It just feels like if you have to tell people
that you have to sell the idea that you can
win lose.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Way for you to know unless you're there, so I
have to tell you. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
So just saying you seem like you're working really hard
to convince me that's hot. Hello, you play to win
the game.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Thank you, enough said, speaking of playing to win the game,
The Problems did win the game on Saturday night, Sean
Payton spoke with Voice the Broncos, Dave Logan.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Here's that conversation.
Speaker 6 (20:05):
Let's let's sit down the locker room talk with head
coach Sean Payton. Sean's Dave Logan. Let me just ask
you your thoughts from the sideline on the game.
Speaker 5 (20:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (20:14):
Look, I just finished talking to the team about it.
You know, I didn't like how we started. Uh, both
first units started slow. Then as the game began to continue,
there were a number of things that that we're going
to be able to look at. The turnovers were positive.
I didn't like the penalty statistic numbers. Wise, there's a
lot to uh, there's a lot to really coach up
(20:37):
off of relative.
Speaker 5 (20:39):
To tonight's game, and and and and.
Speaker 7 (20:42):
Still the day of full practice as we're coming home
from this weekend, really and we just finished talking about
the debrief, you know, when when you're.
Speaker 5 (20:50):
Returning and and being ready to take.
Speaker 7 (20:55):
Valuable information, valuable stuff that we need to need to
get cleaned up.
Speaker 5 (20:59):
Uh. When we look at this game.
Speaker 7 (21:01):
We'll see a number of positives relative to the evaluation process.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
But I think you know, the.
Speaker 7 (21:07):
Early impressions were slow start and then uh, and then
we got going and and I thought.
Speaker 5 (21:14):
The energy effort, all that stuff was good. And then
we kind of go from there.
Speaker 6 (21:19):
Yeah, last thing talking about guys, I don't get a
chance to talk about too much, but I thought Jared
Stidham came in and actually played pretty dog on well
back in the bow Knicks.
Speaker 5 (21:29):
Yeah, you sure did well.
Speaker 7 (21:30):
There's a poise with him and experience with him.
Speaker 5 (21:34):
You feel a veteran player.
Speaker 7 (21:38):
And man made a heck of a throw a touchdown
pass that that that he connects with with Sherfield was
a real good play. But Steady's been been real consistent
and I think there's a poise with him.
Speaker 5 (21:57):
Then I thought he did a good job as well.
Speaker 6 (22:00):
Yep, Sean, thanks for the time, all right, thank you DIVI.
You bet that's Sean Payton in the locker room.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Yeah, it was good stuff from Sean. And that was
of course before he.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Said famously now after the game four he had fourteen
things that had nothing to do with being on the
field that he was angry about. We'll hear from Bonix
here in just a second. But jerseid we haven't really
have talked about him very much over the course of
today's show, and again we have Rockies Baseball com up
here at the top of the hour, so we'll be
back tomorrow three o'clock to spend some more time on it.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
We have training camp tomorrow to react to as well.
But I thought Jared Sidham had a good game. Granted,
were talking about it before the show.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
If Jared Sinham and bo Nix's stat lines were switched,
people would be over the moon talking about bo Nicks
and the step foward he's taking in preseason and this
upcoming season. But I said Jared Sidham had a really
good stat line, and after the game, people were saying, well,
do you think Jared Sidham might push bow Nicks for
the starting top There's a real thing.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
That will be asking.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
Once again, I don't know who these people are. Well,
let's keep things in perspective. Great performance by Jared Stidham,
like coach said, and this postgame prescer for Dave, these
are things that you expectam to do.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
He's been in this offense for a while, so.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
He should know the ins and outs, and being a
veteran quarterback, he's been in this situation several times. So
some guys are best suited to be in backup roles.
And this is why if you want your kid to
play in the NFL and you want to be a quarterback,
it made proove for him to be better at a
(23:36):
backup quarterback than the starting row.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
The longevity is there, but did a great job.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
And sometimes you don't know when you need a backup
quarterback until you actually need one.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
So the Broncos don't really have that worry.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
They got a young quarterback who is proven in his
first year that he's capable of making some great plays,
should be better in the second year. And if just
in case something happens knock on Wood, you got a
better every quarterback who's been here.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
And he said in this movie.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Before, I completely agree.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
I like to put it as Jared Cindam is kind
of one of the higher end backups in the league.
You think about it in terms of ceiling because you
certainly want more out of your starting quarterback, and I
hope bo Nicks can get to that level. He certainly
showed a lot last year. But I love your point
about what Jared Sidom could represent if you had to
play him. If something happened to bow Nicks, you feel
(24:24):
pretty comfortable about where the offense is.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Maybe you're not gonna be able to do.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
Everything you want to be able to do, but you'll
be able to do about seventy five percent of it.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
And then, honestly, that's that's pretty good.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
Well, here's the other part about it is that I
love with when you think about bow instead of their
mobile quarterbacks, Well, I'm not a true fan of those
throwback statue as quarterbacks, they make.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
It easy for you to defend them.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Now with having their legs be an ally to them,
they put extra stress on the posing.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Defenses on the Kwa Comma spirital text lining five six
six nine zero, Ryan, you play to win the game.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
There is no losing. I don't even know why you're
arguing this point. Have you ever played competitive sports? Football
is the ultimate competitive team sport. There is no losing. Well,
first of all, we were talking about Mario, not football,
and we're talking about playing Mario with family members. So yeah,
I guess you could say I don't ever want to
lose in anything I do.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
I am pretty competitive.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
When it comes to like board games and stuff like that,
but it doesn't mean that I can't appreciate the value
of playing a game with a family member.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
For the experience. That's me.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
Listen, I get it. I appreciate it too. I appreciate
winning too as well.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Of course, yes, winning, but I also again playing my
fourteen year old daughter in Mario.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
I'm not sitting there like, hey, better watch out.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
They got to learn.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
I'm trying to embarrass.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
You, man.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
They have to learn somehow, and it's better that you
teach the lesson than someone else.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
You're shooting me with the file with the fire.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
Yes, this one, I must admit.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
I don't know what is what it is about Nick,
but he comes across as really cocky, arrogant and just
not fun to listen to.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Gotta go well, I don't know who.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
That listener is.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
Thanks for listening, but I'm neither Kaki nor am I arrogant.
If you listen to my commentary and what I was saying.
It had a lot to do with talking about running
backs and running backs having the inability to stick their
nose in the a gap, stick their face in the fan.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
What it's like when you see that.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
The hole that's was desire for you to run through
it's clogged. You don't keep trying to run there. So
if somehow that makes me arrogant cocky. So what stick
it to your pipe and smoke it. Let's hear from Bonnicks.
This was really interesting.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Boone's talking about some of the looks at the forty
nine Ers defense was giving the Broncos offense and how
they're gonna have to kind of go back and learn
some things from it.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
This is good.
Speaker 6 (27:05):
Let's sit down to the locker room talk with the
starting quarterback for the Broncos, bow nickt Bow. It's Dave Logan.
Thanks for your time. We just talked to Sean Payton.
I'll start with the same question, what what did you
What did you think about the first performance of your team?
Speaker 3 (27:20):
Well, I thought, you know, we started a little slow.
Speaker 8 (27:22):
But the guys, uh just kind of rallied and we
made some plays as.
Speaker 5 (27:27):
The game went on, which was really good.
Speaker 8 (27:28):
We got a lot of turnovers from defense, which is
always a good thing, and we were able to capitalize
on them and sitting in Sam thunging some touchdowns you
know they're in the second you know, second half.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
It was.
Speaker 8 (27:40):
It was really good to see and I thought we
as a team we played well.
Speaker 6 (27:45):
Yeah, you've got I know you don't have a decision
in this, but you've got, you got a crowded running
back room. Man, I just want to ask your impression
of R. J. Harvey, who got to start the rookie
out of Central Florida, showing some really good quickness and
speed on on a couple of those plays.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
Yeah, he did. H. I thought all the backs ran well.
Speaker 8 (28:05):
You know, you can tell they're in a competition because
they're all playing really hard, really aggressive, running the ball
really well. They're being tough, doing what they're being asked
to do. And I think that, you know, it's just
gonna come down to the guys that you know can
be you know, explosive, and right now they're all showing that.
So I'm excited to see how that shakes up.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
Yeah, I get you out of here on this.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (28:26):
I thought San Francisco dialed up, uh frankly a little
more pressure than I thought they might in this first
preseason game.
Speaker 5 (28:34):
When when you think.
Speaker 6 (28:35):
Back to that, uh, you guys played a quarter in
a little bit.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
Uh, what what did you see.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
From the Niners defense?
Speaker 3 (28:41):
Yeah, they were giving us a few different looks.
Speaker 8 (28:44):
You know, they had a good pressure brackete that they
showed for preseason.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
Normally it's not quite like that.
Speaker 8 (28:49):
But I think they, uh, you know, they did a
good job of scheming this up and trying some different looks,
and we uh you know, reacted to it.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Well.
Speaker 8 (28:59):
I'm sure we'll watch it and have some corrections, but overall,
I think, you know, we controlled it well. We moved
the ball, and we just obviously the first couple drives
and were staying twenty touchdowns. So I just got to
get back to the practice this week, and you know,
I just get.
Speaker 5 (29:15):
Better as a whole.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
Thanks for the time.
Speaker 5 (29:19):
Thanks Pure Teeth.
Speaker 6 (29:20):
You bet that's Bonix in the Broncos locker room.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Somebody kill them rush your teeth in the background. Yes,
they had to know rush your teeth. That's great. Again.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
We can find all the interviews on demand KWA Colorado
dot com or on the iHeartRadio app. We posted those
up as well. So he said it right there in
the end. That final answer was pretty much perfect. There
was some pressure looks we got from the forty nine
ers defense. Things you don't expect to see in the preseason.
I don't think it's an excuse. So much is just
a reality. It's just a fact, and so there's something there.
(29:55):
They get a chance to learn from it. It's the
first preseason game for a reason, and honestly, these are
the times to learn these kinds of lessons, I guess
for the team.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
Yeah, this is what makes preseason, you know, so great
As a coach. You can work on so many plays
in practice and you can go on the game with
a litany of plays, but also a couple of trick
plays that you just want to put on film to
make your opponents prepare for.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
And this is why I love this time of year.
It is really exciting.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
Obviously, we're gonna get to a point where it's gonna
become really disappointing, where you know guys are gonna be cut,
their football dreams are.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
Going to end.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
But I like what the Broncos are and you mentioned
it at the top of the show.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
The depth start to show up.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
And if you're talking about having a deep playoff run,
your depth is going to be real pivotal.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Nice text coming here. While that listener is so very wrong.
I appreciate Nick's insights and love what he's on the show. Uh,
don't listen to him, Nick, We love you.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
You're the best.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
If we're going to listen to anybody it's gonna be
you or Dave because you actually played the game.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
It's a little bit of a dig of me. But
I guess whatever, you're still listening.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
So they didn't say, well that Ryan guy, they didn't
say that. That's not what they said.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
If we're gonna listen to anybody, it's gonna be you
or Dave. Well, because you actually played the.
Speaker 4 (31:18):
Game, Yes, from a from a playing standpoint, only you
would read into that in a very negative way.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
I know this texture doesn't like me very much. I
guarantee it was a dick all right, that doesn't for us.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
We'll be back to NAR three o'clock, Ben and Noucci
is gonna be in studio. Looking forward to a chatting
with Ben. Thank you, Grant, great job as always. But
we got Rockies baseball coming up next.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
On KOA, the long ball
Speaker 3 (31:43):
You play to win the game.
