Speaker 2 (00:01):
The Rockies with a series win over the Saint Louis
Cardinals are Goodman, the hero and the ninth inning. Welcome
to a very excited to talk to you about that.
Of course, Bronco's training camp today was very busy, a
lot of insight that we were able to get out
of that. We got joint practices starting tomorrow and then
of course the next preseason game on the horizon. Dave Logan,
(00:21):
Ryan Edwards, Benjamin ol'brighten studio.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Hi, man, it's going up.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
It's good to see you, Good to see you.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Yeah, how how was your afternoon? How was your evening
last night?
Speaker 4 (00:30):
Hi?
Speaker 2 (00:30):
On a infel as I was I obviously chipper right
now and you didn't just wake up an hour ago, right, Yeah,
I'm definitely definitely relaxed. There's no aches or pains or
if you could keep the volve of your voice down,
totally great, Tivy, fantastic.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
I did open with a lot of energy.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
You did tamp that down just a touch, just a touch.
I'll be drinking water throughout the show. So the Rockies,
the magic number is ten now to get to forty
two and to not be the worst friend and we
can history.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Let's stop it.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
You didn't you You are one of those people, right,
I mean, if you got to be bad, be epically bad,
it'll be mediocrely No. So you're one of those people
that roots when your team is there's a no hitter
or a perfect game being thrown against your team, You're like, yeah,
I want to see history.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
I mean, I like seeing a no hitter against your team.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Do I have a team?
Speaker 1 (01:22):
That's what this is. That's what this is. You just
don't have a team.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
I like the Rockets just win.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
I don't have a baseball team, agnostic. I have not
had a baseball team since Nolan Ryan retired. Wow so
the nineties. Yeah, I mean I was a big Nolan
Ryan fans. I was a day and I wasn't and
I never had a team. I had players I loved,
but I never had a baseball team. I grew up
watching the Royals and they stunk, so you know it
was I'm used to bad baseball, but I never had
(01:49):
I never had a team. M as far as that
stuff goes, I like to you know, when the bash
Bros Were playing, when it was No America, Seco, Ricky Henderson,
you know, I liked.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
I was a big cal Ripkin.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Fan between of the oriole uh you know and all
that kind of stuff. And of course Nola Ryan was like,
was it for me? I actually got to see him
pitch live once back in.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
The eighties and he was eighty seven raighty eight.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
He feels me, my cal Ripken back to wood right
or like my one quirky little Ryan cal Ripken thing right.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Tells you to get out of line at the airport.
You're gonna break his street.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
So I I have one hundred and sixty eight different
cal Roken junior baseball cards.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Oh do you really have that fan?
Speaker 3 (02:24):
I did not have that many. Yeah, big fan, No
I was. I never had a team.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
I had a players I liked, but I never I
never had a baseball team.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Dave Logan, my friend fellas.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
So we just found out see the BoFs.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Of your too shout out because I was celebrating the
Rockies win the series win against the Cardinals.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
How excited I am all about that.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
And bend Yeah, I don't look at that.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
What it sounded like just like that on the radio.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
He did he doesn't have a baseball team.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
He doesn't have a team here roots for well, it
doesn't pater like to you know, I guess I'd like
to see the Rockies be good at some point, but
I mean, you never what do you mean you guessed?
Well right now, I'd like them to be epically bad
because I don't want them to be mediocrely bad.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Well are you one of those guys? What is that?
What you just? What do you mean?
Speaker 1 (03:12):
You people?
Speaker 3 (03:13):
I do not want them to break the record.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
For me, it was the same thing when I saw
the Broncos against the Dolphins. I was like, go ahead
and get the record.
Speaker 5 (03:20):
At this point, don't be the just get on the
record very very wrong card, the worst than being the
second worst worst. Nobody gives a crap and nobody so
you were you were rooting for the Dolphins to put
on the last time.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Been less embarrassing if they hadn't laid up at seventy
That's not true.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
That is not true. I don't know.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
I mean, just a guy who was sweating his neck
off and calling the game. I'm thinking, no, we do
not want to see seventy seven eighty.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Keep the pedal on the gas.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
Things have changed since that games, Yes, they have very
much games, very very much on the over and under
Mike McDaniel in the first coach relieved of his duty.
I'm sorry, second coach, Yeah, I don't think you see
the second coach who's the first of Brian Dabele.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Is usually the first one on most de betting odds.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
I would bet that Brian Daball will not be the
first coach.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Fire Stefanski could be in that list.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
There's several people that are on that on that hot
playing with somebody's career. Saying just saying well, Dabel makes
the most sense only because we we've heard from the
owner and he's basically told us this, this is the
year and if they got to a slow start, and.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
They could, the schedule is not kind brutal to the giants.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yes, brutal, and we know Russell Wilson can be well,
he's your guy, so well, they got Jackson Dart for
the little parachute there, so if that doesn't work out early,
they could pivot to Dart.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
And buy himself a few more games.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
And they're not going to pivot to Jameis.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
No, it'll be dark.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Did you hear Jamis describing the It was a fumble
recovery touchdown, but the play in the Cleveland Browns game
when he was talking about.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
Six, Yes, deliver me, deliver me, oh, when he was
hiding behind yes, yes, how did you seen him back there? This?
Speaker 2 (05:08):
So, as you guys know, they've been doing the top
one hundred and Nick Bonninito came in at number thirty eight.
And here here was a little bit of the sound
of because Nick was asked to describe was his favorite
play from the season.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Here's what he said.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
I'm just in coverage.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Jamis is in the pocket and I can just look
at his eyes.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
He's trying to look for somebody.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
I'm scanning all well across the field.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
I'm looking for one of our teammates and I shift
and I find him.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
But I don't see that Nick Menino behind him. This
guy playing hide and seek on the football field.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
I've seen somebody in front of me.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
So I was just like, let me just jump in,
and you know, I ended up making.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
The play on the ball when he threw it, and
the rest is history. What do you know, come.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
He takes it back to six. So that wasn't fun.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
It's fun for a wh way.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
That wasn't to deliver me from pick six?
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Noh, Pichata is a funny guy. You know he's got
a care media when he gets done.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Well, but by the way, just because it's important to me,
they didn't.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
He Lord delivered me from pick six.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
They didn't use the proper the proper call. This is
what it really sounded like.
Speaker 5 (06:13):
Whinston takes a snap, protection is good with a three
man rush and frozen.
Speaker 6 (06:17):
Ball's interception intercepted thirty five expect a house call down
the sideline forty twenty five, twenty fifteen ten five touchdown
that is Nick Banito seventy one.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Yards has Nick Banito with an interception.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Return for a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
They use one of your calls in later on.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Yeah, in the NFL one hundred, there's been like four
or five day logan calls.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
I appreciate that.
Speaker 5 (06:43):
I'm like, yeah, I have not seen any of that.
Oh really any of the series. Have you got any
uh on the hit?
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Any royalties or residuals off the check off the check
on that.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
I'm at the official account using cosa Benito.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
Though, of all the nicknames I've given players, how.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
About Jamis Winston saying Nick beaninoo.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
I just like you said, dad Gum Yeah, we don't
hit up dad gums out there.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
That dad gum, Nick Benino.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
That gum is a key phrase.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Dad gum usage officially fell off when bum Phillips was
out of the league.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
That that's it just plummeted at that moment. You remember
his initials? What's that bum Phillips initials? Like his actual
real name? Yes, his initials, I.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Guess I mean like, no, uh no, I don't remember
his actual name.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
I'll tell you why. I remember.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
That's a I told Wade this story too. We're playing
the Oilers in Cleveland. We're down obviously on our end stretching,
so I'm down to the ground doing some sort of
stretch and I look up and here's this dude with
a cowboy hat and I'm thinking that looks like the
Oilers coach.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
And he stuck.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
He stuck his hand down and like introduced himself like
I wouldn't know who that was.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
That says, I'm I'm a O.
Speaker 5 (08:02):
Bum Phillips, okay, and I think you're whatever good player.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
I said.
Speaker 5 (08:07):
I appreciate that, coach, thank you. Yeah, A O. Phillips.
Don't know what they stand for? No, I have no
what coach? What NFL coach. You think Sean Payton when
Tennessee rolls to town, will walk down, walk down into
the Tennessee stretch line before the game ward and shake
(08:28):
the hand of cam Ward. They say, I'm Sean Payton,
I'm the head coach of the Broncos, and I think
you were a very good player.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
So he was born. How do you pronounce this?
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Oh A, I.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
L oh, ol Andrew. It's interesting, he says, A. Oh,
but yes, ol Andrew Phillips.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
So should have been a should he said, Aoh, I
think been back a few years.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Oh a bum Phillips.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Yeah, there you go, ol Andrew bum Phillips.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
I don't know how you got the nickname bomb.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
He just the outfit that every you know, that was
all there was. He was the dad gum guy. There
were so many dad gums out of him.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Him, And who is it that?
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Did?
Speaker 2 (09:11):
You used to do that on the college football calls?
Keith Jackson? Then he used to yeah, dad gum? Yeah,
oh Nelly, Yeah, well Nelly's yeah. Water drops a dad
gum every so often. Every once in a while he does. Yeh,
he'll drop it in lieu of swearing. That's that's that's
where that came from. Yeah, but I mean the you
know you get to dang now instead of the you
(09:32):
know you don't get too many dad gums anymore.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
He granted me.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
The stats said these this Rockies series win over the
Cardinals is the first since two thousand and nine.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
That is the fact I didn't realize they won the
season series. Yeah, go figure, what's say louis thinking about that?
Speaker 2 (09:50):
The red hot Rockies don't say that so sarcastically.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Let us have our fun.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
I look at I just I don't. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
You're gonna be You're gonna be the second.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
World Steve of all time and also forty five wins
and be the second worst team of all time, wet, blanket, all.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Bright than the first. That's right, Dave, that is right.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
No records in our city. I'm competitive. I want to
own every record, even the bad ones, even the worst
ones of all time. That's oxy mouronic. I'm competitive all
around the world.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
At least wins.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
At least You're not shaking your head at me this time. No,
I'm grateful for that. Basically, all right, we're off roly
here on a beautiful afternoon here in the Mile High
City five six six nine zero A k Common Spird
Health text line. We'll come back with some thoughts on
training camp today. We heard from the coordinators. We get
to all that coming up next.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Five six six naka Commas Bird Health text line. There
was a question here about at water and uh is
this Gruden?
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Well, yeah, so the nine of nine said, since speaking
of that water, how would he and Ben Field about
Gruden coming to the SEC possibly the new Arkansas coach
Big Suey.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
I would suggest there's.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
A little more to that than just just uh, people speculating.
I don't know that it's done, but I would say
that that is I'm trying to think the right way
to frame this. That is something that is with the
possibility in the works.
Speaker 5 (11:12):
Yeah, I told I told Ben I saw a video.
I don't know when the video was done, but John
Gruden has gone around to a variety of college programs,
big college programs and talk to the teams, and you know,
I find it really entertaining. I've always liked John Gruden.
I think I like him as a coach, I like
his personality. But I'm sitting there watching this video this morning,
(11:36):
I'm like, I had to go back and watch it
three or four times, because he he was saying, you know,
I'm a dreamer. He said, you know, Kirby Smart is
a defensive coach. I'm an offensive coach. I'm a dreamer.
I want to dream. I dream about coming down between
the hedges and bringing a team down here and finding
a way.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
To beat you East.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
I think he's talking to Georgia. I think he's talking
to the University Georgia. He's certainly talking about the University
of Georgia. And you know, he said, you're you know,
your job, your job, You're into nightmares. You're into making
sure that the dreams get crushed. That's what you're into.
But I'm a dreamer. But he said two or three
(12:16):
times about coming down and facing Georgia between the hedges.
I'm thinking, hmm, what does that mean? So maybe, you know,
maybe that does make sense about our dy.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
He and Hunter Yurchek, do you have a decent relationship.
And I would not be surprised if Sam Pitt was
let go, if that was his replacement. You guys saw
earlier this week than about a Supreme Court sided with him. Yes,
And but now what I did read is the NFL
is going to appeal this. I don't know how what
that's going to happen look like. But John brewn out
there saying, I'm looking forward to having my sort of
(12:50):
the truth come out, having my day in court. I
tell you what, man, we covered this a couple of
years ago, Dave, and there was this sort of eerie like, hey,
if these emails see the line of day, how damaging
that could be for Roger Goodell in the Shield. And
I mean again for John Gruden who feels wronged. I
(13:11):
can understand from his side because he got fired as
a result of these emails getting leaked.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
So he's suing.
Speaker 5 (13:15):
He's suing the NFL alleging that the NFL was behind
the emails getting leaked. Right, I would I would not
be surprised if. I mean, they've ruled in his favor. Now,
the NFL can appeal, and the NFL has a lot
more money than John Gruden. Even though John Gruden has
a lot of money, I think even if he winds
(13:37):
up winning that to some capacity, I would bet we
won't see the emails. I'm just maybe we will. But
if I had to bet one way or the other,
I'll say somehow someway, we the public do not get
a chance to see those emails.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Settlements non disclosure settlements if they guaranteed.
Speaker 5 (13:57):
Yeah, but here here's the problem with the settlement. I
think you're right. And again, the NFL has has tons
of money. But John Gruden has enough money that he
could unless it's a substantial settlement, he could just say nope,
I want to make these emails public because he feels like,
I mean, his career got derailed. You know, he he's
(14:21):
a prideful guy. He feels like he's been wronged that
these emails re leaked. And so it's not like he's
out of work and living in a Winnebago somewhere.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
He's got plenty of jack. Yeah, he's got I mean
his contreet he's got one.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
Hundred million dollars out of the Raiders alone, and he
was wealthy before that. So well, they haven't paid all
that yet. No, there's some of that's being held up.
That'll be I mean, there's there's there's plenty to that.
He'll he'll probably wind up with half a billion dollars
out of the NFL.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
And all said though, in the.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
NFL, I guess at that point would be like, hey,
enjoy your time at Arkansas and we'll see you.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Maybe never imagine that's the NFL's mindset on it.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
Should I see something Lionel Taylor passed, Oh you know,
I think I go a wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
I was always I didn't get ready for the show.
I thought I saw my CLIs.
Speaker 5 (15:05):
I think for those that don't know, and you'd have
to be of a certain I guess vintage. But Lionel,
when I was a kid in Denver, Lionel Taylor was
like the guy. Lionel Taylor was the first great receiver
in Broncos history. He retired and then he went on
(15:27):
to be he worked as a coach. In fact, he
was I believe he was the receiver coach with the
Steelers when Swan Stalwart were having such success. But Lionel
Taylor was the truth. I'm not sure how old Lionel was.
Eighty nine years old. God bless him and condolences to
his family.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
It was just announced just a few minutes, I mean,
like about an hour ago. But here on Google, as
I AGTs, it says he actually passed away on the
sixth of this month last week. Yeah, so interesting that
it was just announced. But that, yeah, that is the case.
That isn't That's unfortunate. I saw my Cliss tweeting about it,
but I was kind of cutting some sound for the show.
(16:08):
But that I'm glad you were able to bring that up.
That is unfortunate. Sending prayers to his fanom Today.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
Out of practice, you know, we we shell's day. They
didn't do full pads.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
They're getting ready for Tomorrow's a little bit of a
ramp up again. A lot of situational stuff. You know,
today I thought there was some better stuff from the offense.
Maybe we've hit a point in camp and Dave, you
have seen a billion of these where I just don't
know how much more we're gonna learn about this team
until we get more games. Because hey, there was a
(16:39):
great great catch by Corland Sutton, right, he does that
every single practice. There was a great catch by pat
Ryant's a couple of them. He's been doing that every
single practice. So you come away with it's like, Wow,
that's good to see you.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
You tell me not going to practice anymore.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
I'm well, tomorrow's the last training camp practice anyway. So
but I just say like I feel like I came
a wait from today's practice and again the actually on
the far field, so we were all like checking those
who is that?
Speaker 5 (17:02):
Who?
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Who isn't coverage? And I feel like there was not
There's nothing more than happened today that I haven't already seen,
nothing much.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
To be learned. Yeah, I sort of you, and I've
done this show for a while.
Speaker 5 (17:17):
I've kind of been of that mindset and I've been
I didn't go today, but I've been at advertally every practice,
but I've seen a lot of training camp practices and
been as a player, and a lot of training camp
practices unless you're only going.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
To be able to see so much.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
And NFL teams now, especially the one we cover, they're
so guarded about what you can see, what they want
you to see. Where they allow members of the press
to be situated during practice. You know, my my conversation,
if I ever ever were to have one with I
(17:54):
mean owners ownership. You've got great ownership here, but other
owners would be I understand from a coaching standpoint that
you sometimes tire of dealing with the medium, and you
have certain media members that you like, and then you
have certain media members that you don't like, And every
time they open their pie hole, you want to absolutely
crush their spirit and their entire spinal column verbally, you
(18:19):
just because you don't like them. I get that, and
some of them, in all honesty over the years, some
of them are a tad bit unlikable.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
But the whole idea about what the media does.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Ostensibly is to.
Speaker 5 (18:36):
Provide information about the practices that fans really can't see
and have such an interest in. And so the old
phrase that the media is the conduit between the team
and the fans, I think still is true. So with
that in mind, if in fact we're to assume it's true,
(18:56):
ownership is going to have to I think at some point,
and it will maybe it will be unpleasant, but you've
you've got to make your coaches aware that, Hey, fellas,
I know you don't like this, but this is one
of the ways we promote our sport.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
We have to do it.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
So let's figure out a way that none of y'all
lose hair over it. Let's just get through it. That's
my that's my soapbox rant for the day.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
I loved it.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
That was perfectly said. Man, I'm perfectly said.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
I've been a hated media member before. I understand. How
are you one of the guys who wants to crush
your final columnarly?
Speaker 2 (19:36):
I don't think that that's the case. I think there's
I think there is a disdain. I don't think there's
a hatred, but there's definitely a disdain.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Yeah, so you think the head guy hates you? Yes?
Speaker 5 (19:47):
So what have you said about the head guy that
we nothing publicly? As he knows you've said privately.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
I think he is aware of what I know privately.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
So if the worlds were reversed, would you hate him?
Speaker 2 (19:57):
I think that if that person knew those things and
kept it to themselves, I would have a healthy respect
for them.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Okay, it's a lot of it's a lot of cryptic stuff.
What are we talking about right now? My sphincter smoothed figure,
But exactly, I have.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
A healthy respect for people who know where the bodies
are buried in my life, and I know not to
not to upset them. Oh, that's the way you wind up,
not in the back of a trunk. And I would
say that that related. That should be the way it
should be. The other way I taped. Yes, Yeah, it's
really uncomfortable that truck.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
Is not dead.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
You know what we've we've binge watched. The Sopranos were
on season six and we're almost done. I'd forgotten what
an absolutely well written series and well acted, phenomenally acted
series that is. Now there's some you know, psychopathic behavior,
but in terms of the writing and just the acting
(20:52):
and not just from Gandalfeini, I mean the whole cast,
it is like it was superbly done.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
Have you ever seen any like the behind the scenes
on that show talking about like a character made him
physically sick, like between and stuff like that because he
was that he would give cash bonuses to the you
know people.
Speaker 5 (21:08):
Working, very very gracious and generous, I should say, person,
it's always.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
A good one.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
Have you ever seen Breaking Bad?
Speaker 4 (21:17):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Yeah, because I mean for me, those are like the two.
Speaker 5 (21:22):
Yeah, I mean I would, I would, I'd lean to
the Sopranos, But I thought Breaking Bad was was well done.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
I have better call Salt was better than Breaking Bad. Yeah,
it's a prequel at Breaking Bad, and I thought it was.
I thought it was the better one, to be honest.
The Wire also if you haven't seen that, if you
don't watched that one, yeah, you never want to go
to Baltimore again ever again? Right? That was?
Speaker 3 (21:44):
That was? That was HBO. That was good.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
I tried, I haven't. I haven't been able to get
to the wire.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
With the wire might be a little bit too much
for you.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
What would I like breaking bad?
Speaker 3 (21:55):
I'm just saying, I'm just saying too dark? Yeah too well, wow,
yeah wow. I just think it might be a little bit.
Speaker 5 (22:04):
I think there might be scenes in the Wire where
you you actually put the back of your hand. Think
of this the back of your hand over your.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Eyes yet lean to my wife over yet.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
Yeah. I don't think your wife's gonna want to watch it.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
I guarantee she doesn't want to watch it. I think
the reason so.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
You'd have to watch it when she's asleep. Do you
go to bed for her?
Speaker 4 (22:28):
No?
Speaker 3 (22:28):
She goes before me. Oh there's your chance.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
But that's the problem is is I usually try to
watch things that helped me wind down, and so I
tried watching the Wire.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
So what do you well like?
Speaker 5 (22:38):
What's your favorite wind down? Like tonight you're gonna wind
down about eight thirty? What what are you gonna watch?
Speaker 1 (22:43):
I watched a lot of animated movies.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
Wasn't they ask she's gonna sit.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
There with a tub of tappy yoga putting, watching fantastic.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
Work with Woody the Pooh. I mean, what are we
doing that? What animated movies?
Speaker 4 (22:55):
Like?
Speaker 3 (22:55):
What animated movie did you last watch?
Speaker 1 (22:58):
As soon as you ask, yes, got his groove back?
Speaker 3 (23:01):
No, wait, what what is it?
Speaker 1 (23:03):
Well?
Speaker 2 (23:03):
I watched a lot of like like Justice League, like
d C, like Dark R rated PG thirteen, like Anime.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
R rated PG thirteen.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
I'm just saying, like I watched some of the like
Max has a bunch of the DC comic like stuff.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
You know what's Don't watch the Wire? Yeah, don't ever
watch the Wire might be too much adult content. Your
discretion is advised.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
Me. I just need to wind down.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
I need but you're trying to wind it down and
R rated cartoons. Yeah whatever, it works for my brain.
It's all gonna say very quickly because I want you
to hear this. And so Joe Lombardi was asked.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
About the safety in the game with bon Nix, and
we've been talking specifically about the look about the corner blitz.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Yeah, this is great stuff from Joe Lombardi.
Speaker 7 (23:50):
You know, preseason is always tricky because you know, in
a regular game, you know, we have like three periods
where we cover all our pressures, like just something that
we weren't asked but wars because we should have been.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
So I'm not a good concern there. It's just kind
of pressure we didn't have picked up.
Speaker 7 (24:06):
But I think in a regular season I really do,
ye just didn't have it as detailed as.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
We don't really do.
Speaker 7 (24:11):
That's just the fog and frictional preseason games.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
Personally, going out there running your training.
Speaker 7 (24:16):
Camp plays were not really game playing against the team
and making sure that you have a you know, players
that exactly match what they're doing and to some of them.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
Probably we could have done a better.
Speaker 5 (24:27):
Job as coaching as four, but just happens in preseason.
That's pretty much exactly what I said, exactly what I think.
That's Joel Lombardi. Listen, Joe's a big guy.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (24:39):
If Joel Lombardi and Robert Sala get together like a
couple of Elkhorn sheep and start ramming each other, I
think that would be a decent, decent match.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
No.
Speaker 5 (24:51):
I again, my speculation on that is, Uh, the Broncos
got a little bit the better of the Niners in
that scrimmage and then I think coaches are I mean,
some coaches are are some of the most competitive people
that you ever want to be around, and it irritates
(25:12):
them and it made him look bad and they didn't
like other guys responded and so and maybe and maybe
just maybe the other team celebrated a little bit too
much that that could be the thing that puts it
over the top. You guys are celebrating, like, I don't
know that that happened, But I think Solid dialed up
a few things, and I think the Broncos are like, really,
(25:34):
it's the first preseason game, you have a you have
a nickel fire from the slot on the minus eight.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
Really, I mean, I appreciate he seemed to sort of
take the high road in it.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
They did exactly the right thing, but you can you
can read.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
The subtext there, of course, because he's like, yeah, well,
usually in a regular game.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
Week, we spend a day on the pressures and we
don't you know.
Speaker 5 (25:55):
We said, we're just kind of working on our training
camp offense. You know, we don't really look at the
opponent very much. And what he wanted to say was, really, really, what.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
Are you doing? Seriously? Good luck.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Today here?
Speaker 2 (26:14):
But a little bit of that coming up in next
ten minutes five six, six, nine zeros or KWA common
spirital text line for the state of the offense. Some
really funny stuff on Lucas Kroll in his touchdown celebration.
It's all on demand right now kwaclorado dot com. We'll
play you a little snippet of it coming up here
in bed and also a chance earlier this week to
(26:34):
chat with Pat Bryant's Everything on demand Kwacolorado dot com
or on the iHeartRadio app. We were talking about that
safety from Bo Nicks in the forty nine ers game
and certainly the preseason whatever. But did you know, Benjamin,
and usually you only retweet negative Bonix stats, but this
is a positive Bonux stat.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
I mean, that's completely wrong.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
But from Warren Sharp, he has said percent of quarterback
pressure that turn into sacks the last two years, I
imagine Bo's is high and now he sacked not very often,
but that when he is sacked the or when he
does low right, a low percentage. She has not sacked
very often, so he has a low percentage there. But
I imagine fourth best, fourth best pressure to sack Josh Allen,
(27:15):
Jordan Love Derek Carr, your guy, totally, my guy, Big
Derek Carr fan here. Well, you bring him up all
the time.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
He's basically an older Bonnicks. You won't play that game.
We can play it.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
I next ones were Jared Goff, Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford,
Brock Purty. Okay, So these so these numbers, those guys
at the top, those are the guys that have the
lowest percentage of pressures that turn into sacks.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
Correct, gotcha?
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Okay, yeah, I would Okay, that seems about right.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
You know, bo has a very low sacked percentage, and
part of that is he is a little fleet of
foot and he does know how to you know, how
to move around and all that kind of stuff. They
the knock on him has never been about taking sacks
or any of that kind of stuff, even all the
way back at Auburn. You know, he was very mobile quarterback.
You know, that was never the knock on him. And
I imagine he would score relatively highly in that category.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
You know who's the.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Worst over the last two years the highest percentage minimum
three years, Wilson somebody in.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
That's one of those two.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Probably of course you went to Fields.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
Fields actually was at twenty three point three percent, and
that was about one in four twelfth twelfth on this list.
Russell Wilson was twenty three point six, so he was
right neck and neck with Justin Fields.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Fitting that they're both in New York.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Now we're both in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Last year, try anything.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
Who else would be in that? I don't know if
I had those two certainly would be in that conversation.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Though our guys Zach Wilson was twenty seven point two.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
That would make but no, he's even worse. There are
there are four quarterbacks worse than Zach Wilson. One of
them's pretty odd? Are they all starters or bullet to
the backs?
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Like not a starter? Yeah? Two of them were rookies
last year?
Speaker 3 (28:52):
Okay, well yeah, Jane Daniel's be one of them.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
But Jane Daniels was number two, Caleb Williams would be
oil Williams was, Watson is probably Sean Watson was number three,
will Levis is probably in there. Will Love's number five, okay,
oh man. The other one is Sailor Hurst. Yeah is
Daniel Jones?
Speaker 3 (29:07):
Oh okay?
Speaker 2 (29:08):
So Chayla Williams so just by comparison, all right, So
we talked about Bo Nix, who was the fourth best
at fifteen point one percent. Caleb Williams was more than
double thirty one point eight percent in pressures or a
percentage of quarterback pressures that turn into sacks.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
And then jayde and Daniels Rookie of the Year twenty nine.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Point four took He took quite a few to John
Watson twenty eight point four, Daniel Jones twenty seven point three,
Zach Wilson twenty seven point two, will Leves twenty six
point seven, and then Drake may So and he's.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Twenty six percent.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
So that the only reason I wanted to kind of
bring it up, not only because a dovetail to the
sack conversation, but also because it's kind of an encapsulation
of the rookie class and where you say, well, hey,
certainly Jade and.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
Daniels has some unbelievable moments.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
I don't know if we know everything we need to
know about Kayleb Williams yet, we'll see, but at least
their ability to avoid sacks when pressured has something.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
That needs to improve almost immediately. Yeah, there were three names.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
I was surprised I did not hear at the bottom
of that list, that would be Gino, Sam Darnold, and
Jalen Hurts. All those guys took like forty or more
sacks last year. I think Gino took like fifty. Sam
came into twenty two point five percent and it gains
last over two years. Oh okay, so it's last two years.
So he was came in at twenty two point five.
Who else did you want to know about Gino and
Jalen Hurts because you know it was eighteen point two
(30:28):
forty sacks last year for Hurts? I think something like
to and Hurts? Where is Hurts? Those are just some
names I was He's twenty point one. Was os just
surprises weren't a little lower. So yeah, all right, we'll
come back. We'll get to us some of the sounds,
some of the reaction from out training camp, including outam
Trauma'll get the next
