Speaker 1 (00:00):
Those are the only things I claimed. I love that
you did the break. Welcome to it.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
We're excited to be with you, Ryan Edwards, Vinchamin Olbright.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
We're on until six o'clock when we had things off
to Broncos Country tonight, which will be more Ben and
Nick ferguson.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Ko Albright, which is something a lot of people around
town want to do. All the people say in the all.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
The Rockies fall today nine to five bucks, as you
often know, is the case for me.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
The silver linings of.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
This is you split the series with the Dodgers, which
I think a lot of Rockies fans and even haters
like yourself.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Would have taken. And the reality is, Ben.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Rockies are playing about five hundred baseball now since the
All Star Break. I think they're fifteen and seventeen after
this loss today.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Yeah, they're not five hundred. They're below five hundred. They
have a better record since the All Star Break than.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
The Dodgers fifteen and seventeen. I went through the numbers.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
They're fifteen and seventeen, so just about five hundred the
baseball since the All Star break.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
They have a better record than the Dodgers since the
All Star break. All I'm trying to say.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Is if they can play five hundred baseball the rest
of the way, I think a lot of it's broken.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
They don't need to fix anything. Hey, they've solved it.
Just below five hundred baseball is the new standard. Why
need that be the way you are? Why are you
the way you are?
Speaker 4 (01:18):
You people?
Speaker 2 (01:19):
You people?
Speaker 4 (01:19):
Beat it?
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Beat the joy out of me. You can't you know?
This is you up all night on Twitter with everybody?
Speaker 1 (01:26):
What do you think I've referred to when I say
to you people, I wasn't giving at you on Twitter.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
I was just a show. I did all of it
on the show. I was like just a show.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
And I went Hope with a giant smile on my
face and I had dinner, hung out with the family.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
That was the greatest night of my life.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
It was It was certainly Ryan had a splashed on
a bottle of cologne.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
I believe it was called smug before he left. It
was great. It was glorious.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
You, I mean to be fair, you were the only
one I think of us that believed that it was
going to happen. I did not believe and I still
can't believe you talking about the Davon Vailey thing right.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
I still can't.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Believe anybody ponied up up points wise more than what
the Jets did for DeVante Adams, you know, more than
what the Cowboys did for George Pickens. As our esteemed
researcher back there, Steve Harrington found out, Zach Sekers.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
I'm sorry, it's it's stunt. The likeness looks just.
Speaker 5 (02:17):
Like I'll take the comps any day of the week.
Compare me to Hollywood actors more pretty good. Steve bush hemis.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Earlier, by the way, I shout out to one of
our listeners because they heard that segment yesterday talking about
how I'm taken my daughter to a first high school
football game, but of course she doesn't want me to
hang out and and somebody sent me a gift of
the how you do fellow kids, Steve, and I was like,
this is exactly why she won't let me, because I
would wear the backwards red hat and have the skateboard
and these days I'm just you know, but I mean,
(02:54):
you gotta put the It's it's about coordinating, and it's
about the costume.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
And the generic rock Lady bull roll shirt.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
You know, Yeah, I just did not believe anyone would
pony up what it would take to get the Broncos
to part with Vallee.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
A coach confirmat today. Yeah, they were shopping him. That
was not a thing.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
They just had two teams show up that were serious
and they they they came correct with those offers. I mean,
my goodness. Yeah, we were on the same page on
that point.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
And I think actually we've been in lockstep about Devon
Vailey the entire time you flashed back to the OTAs.
I mean, I remember being asked by a lot of
fantacy people that hit me up on Twitter about who
is wide receiver to us, like, it's very clearly Devon
Vle Like Devon Vailey was having a great OTA I'm
until he got heard this, until he got hurt and
he didn't. He missmandatory mini camp and he came back
and he was ready to go for training camp. But
they were kind of limiting a little bit of his work, which,
(03:44):
in a way, I guess from the opened the door
for Pat Bryant and Troy Franklin to come screaming in there.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
But we've been pretty consistent about thinking Devon Valley is
a very integral part of this offense, like neither of
us ever sold anything different than that.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
What I was selling was the Numbers Game. And by
the way, Sean Payton confirmed that as part of his
answers today, he confirmed actually multiple things for both of us.
You were confirmed that they were not shopping Devon Beley,
that there was teams approaching them, and that the offers
sort of ramped up over the last twenty four hours.
And they also confirmed part of the Numbers Game that
they were looking at with the roster. And he said
(04:19):
something that I said to you just yesterday, Ben about
when it comes to game day, you tend to have
five active, not six, and he said, it doesn't mean
that he would have been one of the ones inactive,
but that's the numbers thing that you have to sort
of think about. And so they were thinking about it
in terms of the roster construction of fifty three now,
and they were thinking about it in terms of when
they get to the season of how many game day
(04:41):
actives they were going to have.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
And in the end, the Numbers Game didn't support it.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
And that was where I was coming from from the
very beginning of this entire thing with Nick, with you,
with Dave was if you just take a step back
from the numbers perspective of the roster, he made the
most sense of anybody.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Well, I'm still one of those people that looks at
it a little differently and looks at you know, talent
over I guess the rest, and I'm like, you're not
cutting your most efficient receiver. Nobody realistically was saying that.
There were people and there's still people out there saying
he was going to be cut. I mean, it's the
dumbest thing I've ever seen. None of us, no, no,
we're still a professional was saying that you had some
you know, but at the end of the day, you know,
(05:19):
you looking at the talent level there he's by far
your most efficient receiver in terms of catches per target,
in terms of first downs per target.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
You know, he's that guy.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
And so you know, I just for me, I'm like,
all right, this is this is a safety blanket for
a young quarterback.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
You know.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
But in the end, I mean, you get the offer
you got, you got to take that.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
I think this frees up a spot potentially for someone else.
In terms of Courtney Jackson, I know you're talking about
maybe carrying five and you may do that early, you know,
with with some of this. So I think Courtey Jackson
ends up on the fifty three this year, but that's
a different conversation. So keeping six on the fifty three,
but then one being inactive for game days, right, or
to two different coms making active for game day, and
(06:04):
you would have And that's so that's the you know,
that's the thing.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
And at the end of the day, you know, I
had I had some.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Some conversations over the course of the evening, one very
stern conversation with somebody I've been talking to lately who
has gone over to went talking to me, and I
don't really put up with that. So I had a
stern conversation with somebody on that, and then I had
another conversation with somebody about you know, who's who's vacuuming
up these targets. And I would suggest your fantasy lineup
(06:32):
should should not adjust Pat Bryan or Tory Franklin as
much as should adjust Evan Ingram. Sutton and Ingram are
going to get the lion's share of the targets here,
which was.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Probably gonna be the case anyways.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
But to your point, and I think I agree with
you on this is then instead of well, now who's
the third guy fourth guy kind of discussion, It's like,
how do those targets actually get absorbed maybe into the
top two, which was always.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Going to be the top two. Brian and Franklin will
get in the rotation, but they are wide received, they're
down Awn Memes. Yeah, well, Mams is wide receiver two
like Ingram is wide receiver towo. But Mims is the Z, right,
Mims is gonna get the deep targets. He's gonna get
in a Sean Payton offense, He's gonna get all those targets.
And guys like Ted gind Every Henderson, Randon Cooks, those
guys used to get Kenny Steeles.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Those guys used to get on the backside as the.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Z where Sutton is going to vulture up to Michael
Thomas or Marcus Colston stuff, and Ingram is gonna get
the Jimmy Jimmy gram targets and the rest of that
is just going to be a little smattering to the
rest of those guys, And it'll vary game to game.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
That part doesn't change like one way or the other.
Whether Davon Vailey was here or not. It was always
going to be that.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
But I thought our guy Henry Chiseolm, who does a
great job with d n VR, he put this out
last night. He said, Little Jordan Humphrey played fifty percent
of the Broncos offensive snaps last year. Dvon Bailey played
forty one percent, So that's a lot of reps for grabs.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
He said.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
My guest course sticks at is eighty five. Troy Franklin
jumps from thirty five to fifty, Mims twenty seven to forty.
Pat Bryan gets thirty, and then sherfield is twenty five
and the rest go to Ffen Ingram. That would make
a lot of sense, and I'm Ingram gonna see the
field a lot. That's just really what it comes down to. So, yeah,
your heavy slot or your big slot, or you know
whatever drinking game that you tend to be playing with
Evan Ingram, he's going to play a major factor.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
I'll tell you what.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Maybe here at the top of the hour we'll hear
Sean Payton breaking this down because it's kind of lengthy.
He talked for roles three minutes on the Devon Vley trade.
And we'll also play another interesting SoundBite because he said
that it kind of came down to two teams. Like
two teams over the last twenty four to forty eight
hours really ramped up their offers, the Saints being one
(08:32):
of them, and he mentioned another team and I think
he might have slipped that other team in there. So
we'll get to that coming up here at the top
of the hour. But we're off rolling here very quickly
back to the Rockies for a second.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
For people that are leaving course Field.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
I was encouraged last night specifically, I mean they ran
Shoho Tani out of the game. Now he got a
left with maybe an injury, but you understand like they
were getting to show Heyo Tani and as a team
that is still scrapping man, they're still battling out there.
And today was, you know, it's sort of a tough
look day. There was something that happened though yesterday afternoon,
(09:07):
and maybe I missed it while the show.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Was on, but I didn't see it until afterwards.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
They cut Austin Gomber and we played that sound bite
of him saying that he lost he was lost, I mean,
ultimately he said lost his confidence, he didn't know what
his identity was. All those kinds of things, And for
me and for anybody out there the supports the Rockies
that tends to think, well, it's just going to be
the same old, same old, if the people in charge
have it their way, cutting Austin Gomber is not same old,
(09:34):
same old.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
They historically would have.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Just left him out there and let him sort of
figure it out on his own. And I don't know,
maybe I'm just looking for things that are positive signs,
but after that performance, saying that, hey man, you give
up seven runs and for three innings, like you basically
put us in a position that was impossible to win.
And you've been struggling as much as you have. It'd
(09:57):
been easy to hang on to him because he was
the key piece of the no and I a trade.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
But instead you moved on, And for me, I'm gonna
take that as progress. I went a different way with that.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
I didn't even think it was that because I wish
they would have stuck with him and done like that.
I think this was a boon for the player. Are
you going to keep drowning in quicksand here we got
to cut you loose. You can get your head right
in a fresh start and go from there. You both
and you know that kind of thing, because I did
not take that as the team learning from its mistakes
on why can't it be both? I mean, it could
(10:28):
be just I'm just saying my reaction wasn't that. My
reaction was the other way with it. The reaction was
to argue with me. No, I'm not trying to argue
with you now, although I'm arguing about arguing.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
So there's like an inception there.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
I think that I'm just saying, like I came away
with that the other direction. It felt to me like
that this was an organization that recognized that an athlete
was just drowning in his own head and the best
way to give him a fresh start is like, let's
give you a fresh start. Let's find somebody out there.
We'll cut you. Somebody out there is going to believe
in you. They're gonna come pick you up and right
off the bat, you're gonna have that belief coming in
(10:59):
the or we can turn you around, and that's going
to start your your process, your mental process over.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
I hope so. And I also I.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Wish him success. I don't want you, don't want to
see nobody go out like that. A fresh start for
him could be valuable. We talked about that in sports
all the time, right whether what, no matter what the
sport is, we talk about a fresh start being weird.
How often people talk to me about that at the station,
like you just you know, been a fresh start might be.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
It's only weird when your boss before the show starts says,
you know, have a good day. I'm excited that you're
doing both shows today.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
But yeah, you're thought about what. But there's a lot
of those that the options are out. Therewaukee market might
look like for you.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
Yeah, I have you know, Toledo is really hopping this
time of year. It's not bad.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
It's temperate. Climate prices, real estate prices are great. Your
fair skin would do so well there. All right, we're
off early here, very excited to be with you here.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
On a Thursday we come back, we'll hear from Sean
Payton discussing the von Vle trade.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
We got all sorts of reaction to that, still coming
right here at KOA.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
Noon five six six nine zeros or Ka Common Spirit
Health text line Rockies Fall to the Dodgers are today,
but they split the series. They are heading to Pittsburgh
to play the Pirates over the weekend.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
We'll have coverage tomorrow starting at four thirty.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
A little programming note for you, And by the way,
speaking of programming notes, for tomorrow, is it another football Friday.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
We'll get you ready for the Saints series.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
We have another installment of Dave Logan and Coach Peyton
breaking down a play from the previous game, which we
did last week.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Was a lot of fun.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
They broke down the trent Sherfield touchdown from the forty
nine Ers game last Friday.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
So we have another installment of that coming up tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
We'll play that a couple of times before we're out
of here, but I'll be looking for that. That's been
really fun to listen to and I can't wait to
hear it again tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
But a little programming know for tomorrow's show, we're gonna
have Lucas Croll joining us tonight at five thirty.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
Get his thoughts on playing in this final preseason game
and what he's looking forward to in the upcoming season.
But again, five six six nine zero is our ka
commaspirate el text line. All right, So Sean Payton took
to the podium today and you know he started out
talking he has a walk through today.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
She has to watch practice was nice.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
They had in the bubble doutfield house where weally has
to stay in the air conditioning, and then had a
break from the sun, especially since they moved practice up
from ten thirty to twelve thirty.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
So we watched practice mostly.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
A walkthrough today, And of course when Champagne got at
the podium, we knew one of the first questions was
going to be about Devon Vley.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
So here was his answer.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
About what went into the Devon Vley trade that was
basically about twenty four hours ago, breaking right here on Kowa.
Speaker 6 (13:34):
The interesting thing with him was two and then a
third team all called. In other words, we weren't actively
shopping at all. Teams in need of receivers obviously do
a good enough job. They look at the depth of
certain teams. So within like a three day period, George
and I had gotten calls from two serious teams and
(13:55):
a third and all coincidentally on the same player, and
look at George would know better the initial offer or
what the compensation would be. Next morning he and I
sat down and said, no that you know, obviously we
value this player. The following day it picked up. It
became more serious, and then we're having to look at
(14:17):
the roster as a whole and trying to find the
right and the best fifty three. But the thing different
and I looked over those trades, those other twenty five
and ninety percent of them were easy trades to make,
meaning there wasn't the right fit for whatever reason. But
there and then there's that ten percent that are difficult.
(14:38):
This was one of those ten percent that man all
the things that we look for, discipline, structure, smart, tough, talented.
That's why this one was difficult. And certainly New Orleans
was looking just talking with Mickey, they felt they were
missing a bigger receiver. They knew we had a number
(14:58):
of big receivers and so it kind of went in
the beginning of the week is just discussion, and then
two teams really came back more than serious about this trade.
And and there is a point at some point where
(15:19):
you're looking at the roster, you're looking at your depth,
and towards the end, it was something we felt was
going to be best for the club. He was fantastic
when we visited with him. He's gonna he's gonna be
a real good player for them. And so those are
the tough ones. And and really I was only able
to come up with like two that were like that.
(15:41):
Darren Strolls was a real tough decision and I later
regretted it, you know. And so but most of the
time they're easier, but we wish them.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
Well, yeah, it's amazing, you know, you invest in big
receivers rights, and he's been one of the proponents of
doing that.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
It's the tip.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
But typically how he likes his receivers. Certainly he has
some smaller stature guys. There's some speed guys, but for
the most part we know Sean Payton's type. So he
talks about it there and when teams start calling, they're like, well,
who's going to have some size receivers. Oh, Sean's going
to have some size receivers. And we still have a plethora,
if you will, of size receivers.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
So what'd you re What was your reaction to all that?
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Well, part of it is Sean Payton confirming, you know,
things that I've said. They had huge plans for him,
They had big plans for him. They liked von Vele.
It would not have been a difficult to make move
that he compared to moving on from sprolls a movie
later regretted if that weren't the case, And I know
you've got every you know, Yahoo out there trying to
say that all that, you know, it wouldn't have traded
(16:42):
him if they had big plans.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Yeah, yeah, they kind of do.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
If you look, if you've got if you've got the
production and the aggregate behind them, and you have a
chance to acquire that level of capital, you do it. Yes,
I mean, you just dot. I don't know how to
explain that to people any better than that. I think
what I take away from that is that Sean really
liked von Villa, they really had plans for him, but
the combination of his injury opening the door for the
(17:06):
younger guys, believing that those younger guys can help replace
the production there in the aggregate and getting the haul.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
That you did. I think I think you you know,
you had to make that move.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
And I think multiple things can be true here right
where you could say you had big plans and you
like the player a lot, and he certainly does like
the player, somebody.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
Blow you away with an offer. You know, one thing
that I noticed about this team with Sean here when
they get to a seventh round pick.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
It's not just like a throwaway pick like I think
sometimes in the media and maybe fans, they think flyers
on players, which the seventh round typically you and I've
been covering the lead for a long time is kind
of priority free agents, college free agents that you don't
think that you're going to be able to.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
You know, if you think that you know the UDFA,
you think they'll sign somewhere else, have given the options,
so you'd draft them.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
They not give them the option.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
But oftentimes they're framed by media and sometimes fans.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Has throw away picks, like when you drafted Caleb Loner,
a guy that has four receptions and like fifty total
reps in college football. People are like, well, that's a
pick that just you just are throwing it away. Well, no,
you kind of have a plan for so divd Veley,
you know, you and I were doing the draft last
year and we're.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
Like, okay, there's something about him. We saw the size, Okay,
we saw he was an older player. That's also something
that they typically been looking at. And then you saw
him in camp and you go, okay, I get it.
I see what they they basically saw and now he
brought him up as like a Marcus Colston, but he
reminded us a lot of Tim Patrick, his maturity, his
ability to box out, receive or box out DB's he
(18:47):
is catching over the middle.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
I mean he's got great hands. So it's one of
those things like that. I think multiple things can be true.
It's a deal you couldn't refuse, and simultaneous that you
liked him a lot.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Dude, George Payton has been nails in the seventh round.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Nails. Let me let me every seventh rounder he's had
since he got here. Kerry Vincent, a guy he flipped
for a sixth so he just got a better draft
pick out of that. Jonathan Cooper, who has been an
absolute stud, Marcus Spencer that one didn't work out, Faon Hicks,
that one didn't work out, Alex Forsyth, Nick gar Julio,
who was going to be on the fifty three if
(19:23):
he hadn't got hurt, and Caleb Blowner this past year.
Like for say, if you get one seventh round or
to hit in five years, your you're you know this dude.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Got Vele.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
He got, he got you got John Cooper. I mean
you look at this stuff I mean, and then Veyle
flips for a four to the seven. George is the man, Like, dude,
I don't know how to say this any any more.
Like the same people that are dogging me out for
Ahiole Bros Wrong, there're the same people telling me that
George Payton need to be fired, that Pat Bryant was
a terrible pick. I mean, all the people that you know,
(19:58):
And that's the reason it. Let's just have bother me like, oh,
get on Twitter and punched back a little bit of people,
but you know, give them their chance to take their shots.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
But at the end of the day, like I'm laughing.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
At nerds that are sitting there saying stuff like this,
because like, this guy's been nails in the seventh round
and look what he's getting out of this stuff. And
these are the same people that are telling you that
these guys don't know what they're doing. It's it's it's
Joe sitting on his couch, Joe Snuffy's sitting on his
couch armchair GMing thinking he could do a better job
than George Peyton and then conveniently forgetting all those takes
(20:28):
to come forward with the new ones.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
All apologies to the Snuffy family listening.
Speaker 7 (20:31):
I know, no.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Apologies does not speak for me. Even W. G.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Walden Snuffy, who did the theme music for the West Wing,
no apologies.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
I knew that wasn't a name that you just pulled
out of nowhere.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
Joe Steph, it's an army thing like that's yeah, okay,
Joe Snuffy's private Joe Snuff.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
He said, over, yeah, it's got harmything.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
Here's Sean Payton on if the trade in part was
because of how Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant have been playing, you.
Speaker 6 (20:54):
Guys, factor in where Troy's that, where Pat's that? We're
Surefield's that were you know, and and you know we
can keep six receivers. We're probably only going to get
five to the game. And look, he may have been
going to the game, but there would have been discussion
as to, you know, out of the six, you know,
(21:15):
how are we how are we looking at our game day?
And and so I said this a few weeks ago,
I think we have a few players here that may
end up playing for other teams.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
And here's one, okay, one more here.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
This is the one I was referencing as we were
heading to break He said, there was two teams.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
That really ramped up.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
And so so he was asked by our guy Andrew Mason,
does he feel better knowing that Levaughan is going to
the Saints, his former team, and so this is what
he said.
Speaker 6 (21:50):
Well that that factors in in Jacksonville, and you know,
ultimately it's it's it's the best, it's the best compensation.
And when it became a four and a seven, that was,
you know, certainly something that I think George and I
(22:12):
both knew if it became a four, that that that's
something we would do.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Yeah, So there you go, make of that what you will.
Nobody else he admitted there. I mean that nobody else
mentioned Jacksonville.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
He admitted it there.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
What did it mean to you have Jacksonville's It was
in the mix, especially since they drafted Travis Hunter and
they have Brian Thomas Junior.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
I mean, I get it. The Jags.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
They love Jammy Brown and they love Brian Thomas Junior.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Travis I think people.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Are going to be a little disappointed in the early
season production on the offensive side from him, and I
think that's a direct indicator of what they feel about Hello,
He's come along on the offensive side of the ball.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Interesting, So that is that's every I mean, that's that's
a lot of it right there. And oh more and
one more hit is Jehan payton on And I actually,
this is a really good question here from her guy
BK because the thing the thing is it's usually the
GM making the trade.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
But he asked him if it was.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
He more involved with Sean more involved because of the Saints, Like,
did did Sean need to be involved? Did he need
to have a heavy influence to get this thing over?
Speaker 2 (23:23):
This trade? The finish line? That wasn't really good question
here we go.
Speaker 6 (23:27):
I think it was just more George and I both
I mean, George and Mickey know each other well. And
I think there's more coincidence here than if you guys
looked at it and said, oh, there's a fit, because
I used to. I think if I was in Alaska
and in the Saints, we're looking at whoever was taking
(23:49):
the call here. They had interest in that that type
of a player. So I think that was more happenstance.
And uh, and George and I both spoke with Mickey
and and you know he and I will speak two
three four times daily, not about a few trades necessarily
might be roster scheduling anything. And in this case, this
(24:14):
kind of came up on us and came up pretty quickly.
And the timing of not just one, but more than
one seeing the same player was unusual.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Yeah, he said that several times that to get so
many calls on one guy. So and by the way,
I'm not even gonna attend like I'm the only one
in Denver that was talking about Devon Vailey. Certainly something
that Zach Segers and I had talked about. I know
other I saw it on Twitter last night. There were
other people in town talking about Devon Vailey. It just
(24:46):
made sense.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
So I guess we all kind of got there relatively
close in time, so maybe just a step earlier than others.
But certainly the teams out there were seeing the same thing.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
Well all they were seeing if the same thing was
certainly there, and Sean Payton just admitted it right there.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
They weren't shopping him.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
Those calls crept up on us, you know, And so
that again goes to show that some of the narratives
that you hear out there in the in the post
the wake of the trade, or you know, people who
don't exactly didn't exactly. They liked him, they did have
plans for him, but I mean, you're right when you
get into there, Okay, does he offer us enough on
special teams that we have to keep him in the
and so that portion of it does come into play.
(25:25):
And they felt like in the aggregate behind them that
they had enough in Pat Bryant and Troy Franklin to
you know, to be able to go ahead and make
that move, and they pulled the trigger. I mean, I
can't congratulate them enough for getting that haul. I still
am laughing at the Saints. Pretty amazing.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
So now that we sort of push forward just a
little bit, what does that mean for the fifty three
because cutdown is going to be next week early next week.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
In fact, you might even see some cuts as soon
as Saturday night. We were on the here, Yeah, we're.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
Gonna be on the well I know, but I'm just saying,
like you know, different teas they're flying back from from
New Orleans and find out when they hit the Tarmactes
saying I don't think you'll get that battle. They'll be well,
you may have a few people leak a few things
like mathis is going to be gone here either way.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Okay, well, but more because what do you do with
that spot?
Speaker 3 (26:09):
So you got Typically it is as he said, six
wide receivers on the fifty.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
Three usually, I mean that's usually the number. Some some
teams go to seven. Sometimes you carry five. We've seen
Sean Payton go I've seen Sean Payton carry seven receivers
before in Orleans. I've seen him carry four here before.
You remember with the first year with the Jerry Judy
and all that, and they had four.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
Bodies on here and they use the rotational call ups
to get there.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
Thanks to the expanded practice squad, old traditional numbers for
how you fill that out don't really matter because you've
got the flexibility. As long as you feel like you
can sneak a guy through to your practice squad, you've
got the flexibility to be able to work these things
is any which way you want, And so that that's
sort of the thing. You have a little bit more flexible.
You can carry four running backs or two. You can
(26:53):
carry five receivers or seven. You can there's different ways
to do that. I think the greatest flexibility is with
the offensive line because you could carry the body through
to the week and then not have to activate them
on game day if you're healthy. So you can carry
seven offensive lineman instead of the usual nine or ten
because of the practice squad. So that's the thing to
kind of keep your eye on, is they've got this flexibility.
It's more about do we believe that if we wave
(27:15):
this person to the practice squad, we will get them back,
And that now is a legitimate concern in Denver because
George Payton has raised the floor of this roster the
caliber of players that they have across the board.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
Well, I completely agree with you on that, and it
doesn't necessarily have to be a sixth wide receiver on
the initial fifty three. But if it were for you, you
you'd probably go with Courty Jackson.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Like I say this, Cordy Jackson is going to be
on this team this year, right unless they wave him
and somebody picks him up, He's going to be on
this team, whether that's the fifty three, which I believe
he will be on at some point, or whether that's
the practice squad. He offers you too much in terms
of receptionability playing out of the slot speed at the zeam.
He's a four to three eight guy. You know, and
then he's you know, he plays special teams and all that.
(27:54):
He just offers you more that you know that it
makes sense. So I he's gonna be a guy that
I think will work his way and if there's an injury,
will definitely work his way onto the fifty three.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
I'll give you.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
I'll tell you who mine is mine' Joaquin Davis like
in practice squad, the initial guy at Perry's back.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Just for a moment, let me let me put this
to you in terms that like, since you guys want
to do the easiest to figure out stuff, I'll do
a figure you out instead of source reporting here. Okay,
the saint's already familiar.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
With at Perry. They could have got up a lot
less to get him back. No, no, no, I know that.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
I'm saying he's back at practice now, Yeah, the second
day in a row.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Okay, maybe I'm wrong. Well, we live in a.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
World now, Ben where you probably should be a little
more careful with some of your wording.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
I'm just saying.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
You you could run your Twitter account and your mouth is.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
What in any way you want to.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
But I'm saying after yesterday, maybe he'll slice a humble
pie would be I could never define myself like the
humble Pie is the worst assert right below carrot Cake.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
You just can't help yourself, can you. Yeah. So as
you say there's just no word this will happen, well, I'm.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Not saying there's no way it'll happen. Nothing is impossible.
I just find it highly improbable. Like if you want
to play the Connected Dots game, which you guys were
talking about.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
You know, the thing to figure out and all that, Okay,
you don't play. I'm going to play that game.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
The New Orleans Saints are intimately familiar with what at
Parry brings to the table.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
I'm not worry about with the New Orleans Saints.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
I'm talking about a dark horse player that the Broncos
may not want to expose. That's what I'm talking about.
I'm not talking about the Saints. I'm saying they would
have come and offered for him if they felt. If
you know, Mickey and Shot are sitting there talking about
six wide receiver right now, I'm talking about big boy
of receivers. Don't you think they would have come after
if they thought he was the guy? Well, anyway, we'll
(29:51):
let it play out. Did you see my response to
your twe tweets, I'm.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
Trying to ignore it. It was pretty good though, right.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
I just don't know how you have found the time
to learn all that kind of photo shopping finishing below
me in the Fantasy standings last year.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
I thought you would have been working on your game
with that. I'd just say, go check out BID's Twitter account.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
And you know that's selective photo editing there, Man, I
have some surprise you all that between you know, it's
it's a sub sext, like what you tweeted out, what
you really wanted to say, what you really wanted to say. Hey,
I'm just impressed, says studious. You learn a news learning
new stuff.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
As I said, he's smiling. I appreciate it. Thanks for
hearing me, Zach, I appreciate it. All right. We're gonna
have Lucas Croll joining us coming up next.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
By the way, catch Saturday's Broncos game with Benjamin Albright
and Nick Ferguson at burned Down Denver off Broadway from
eleven to one enter when a Broncos Raiders trip to
Vegas is all presented by Artist Tequila, the official tequila
of the Denver Broncos so that is on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Makes you check that out with the fellas and look
forward to the game. Of course, our cover starts at
eight am.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
With Benjamin Albright and Zach Seekers, and then we'll walk
up to kick off at eleven am. Don't forget to
stick around for our postgame Broncos react. We're gonna go
to six o'clock on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Just let everybody know.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
So the game will wrap around I don't know two ish,
and then we'll be.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
On all the way till six o'clock.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
Benjamin Albright and I will be arguing about the roster.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
You can join us and argue as well. Here for it.
I know you are all right. Lucas Crawl joins us
next on Kawa Hi Broncos Country tonight coming up at
the top of the hour. We will also do show
you the money.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
I left my rundown outside, so we'll have to go
grab that here in a second. But we got some
NFL preseason football. Lucas Croll is going to join us
here in a matter of moments. The Panthers and the Steelers.
Panthers have not had a good preseason. Ben another coach
of the day, pretty frustrated with through overall performance.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
The Steelers.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
Meanwhile, one of the ones that's the game going on
right now, the Giants and Patriots, the battle of the
unbeatens in the preseason.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
I know that you care about these things.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Obviously were about records and scoring in the preseason's final scores.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
Those are things that matter.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
As we saw the Bears last year second in points,
second points differential, win in the preseason games, and they
went on to I'm checking my notes here a top
ten draft pick.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Indeed, I'm trying.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
To figure out which round of the playoffs the Bears
made last year. You can't seem to locate them. Well,
they didn't have justin fields and their team at that point,
so you can't hate on them as much. Yeah, I mean,
you know, you would have thought that letting go of
the anchor would help the boat move faster. We'll see,
you know physics at all, it would be moment for acceleration.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
Yeah, that's exactly right.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
No, I mean, as far as the preseas stuff goes,
And I know, like I beat this quote to death,
everything matters in the preseason. It does, except the final score.
Accept the wins and losses. Every rep matters. The way
you perform.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
Every rep matters. You know. I think one of my
favorite old time.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Preseason stories is one that's kind of overdone as well,
and that's the Terrell Davis thing. If if he had
found somebody who could have understood him when he was
trying to book a flight to get out of there
in Japan and then he turned around because he couldn't,
he ended up wound up playing in that preseason game,
wound up having that tackle on special teams, and it
sparked a Hall of Fame career. Remarkable.
Speaker 3 (33:19):
Don't hear a lot of stories like that, but it
is truly remarkable, and it wouldn't have happened without the preseason.
It was cool today here Quinn Miners and Brandon Jones
both talking about the value of playing in the preseason,
getting knocking the rust off and getting those hits in.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
And we're gonna.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
Ask our next guest as we head out to the
Kawe Thomas Spirit Health Hotline and bring on Broncos tight
end Lucas Croll.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
Lucas, thank you so much for the time.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Man.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
You're on with Benjaminal, Brian Ryan.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Ever, how are you hey, how y'all doing I'm doing good?
Speaker 3 (33:44):
We're doing great, very excited to chat with you. Yeah,
you're just talking about how Quinn Miners and Brandon Jones
when they addressed the media earlier, they're talking about the
value of playing in the preseason, getting a chance to
get out there and play against other players, knock some
of the rust off. Do you feel the same way
about playing in the preseason.
Speaker 4 (34:02):
Oh yeah, one thousand percent. You know, we're actually kind
of talking about.
Speaker 7 (34:06):
This as a unit in the tiding room today and
and I think we just we value that so much
just because to your point of you know, it's been
you know, several months since we've you know played the game.
I mean obviously a training camp, but you know, when
the lights come on and you know.
Speaker 4 (34:21):
It's it's full go, it's it's different.
Speaker 7 (34:24):
And so for us, you know, getting that getting that
opportunity to get out there and you know, I guess
you could say knock the russ off, the religious opportunity
to compete and play the game full at the highest level,
and you never want to turn that down. And so
every time we get the opportunity, we want to go
out there and dominate.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
When we're in.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
When you uh, you know, when you get out there
for the for the preseason, and and you've got the
practices in the games, you've gone through camp and you're
getting up to that third game and it gets tiring
and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
Is it difficult at all to to stay dialed in.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
Or do you are you stay looking at this like, hey,
this is a competition, and you know if I slip
even for a second, is it that level of pressure?
Speaker 4 (35:02):
Oh a thousand percent? To that point? You know it's Uh,
you know your tape is.
Speaker 7 (35:06):
Your resume, and you know this is your job, right
and so uh anytime you know you're going out there
on a Sunday or you know for listeners and Saturday, Uh,
and you got to put your best stuff on tape
and and to my point of competing, and.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
That's that's what we're bred to do. That's what we
uh we play this game four. We love to compete.
Speaker 7 (35:22):
We love to win and uh anytime people are keeping score, man,
you want to put your best effort forward and uh
and win.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
What is your lasting memory of your time with the Saints?
Speaker 4 (35:34):
Getting cut?
Speaker 2 (35:39):
Does that make? I mean does that motivation?
Speaker 1 (35:41):
Though? Is that like you want to go back? Even
in a preseason game and put it.
Speaker 4 (35:44):
To them always.
Speaker 7 (35:46):
I mean, you know, that's the nature of this job,
nature of this game. But yeah, man, anytime I get
to go back there, man, it's you know, it's always
a little bit different. But you know, at the end
of the day, there's there's always the no but no
bad blood.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
But man, this is a job.
Speaker 7 (35:59):
And uh and then I'm happier than I've ever been
in uh, to be in the blue and Orange, and man,
I love it, love being here him, love being a
Bronco and uh, yeah, I always you know, I don't
really care who who it is going against me, but
you know, in Thisssistance, yeah, sure, it might be a
little different.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
I mean it sounded like there was bad blood a
little bit. It doesn't make you want to.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Put a little extra on that cral spike in the
end zone.
Speaker 7 (36:23):
Yeah, I don't know, maybe a little extra a mile
an hour or two behind it.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
Love that, Hey, you're you're tied end room, added Evan
Ingram in the off season.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
What has he been like?
Speaker 7 (36:33):
He just an absolute stud man on and off the
field and one of my you know, good friends already.
You know, I got the you know privilege of meeting
him a couple of years ago at my first time
going to the tight End You event, and uh, I'll
never forget. And I tell a story you know often
when people ask me about him, But man, I'll never
forget the first time I watched him release on a
route and I'm not even kidding you, like his first step,
(36:55):
I mean, getting like five yards up the field on
one step, and I had to go up to him like, dude, like, how.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
Do you do that? Like it's impressive, it's insane.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
I've never seen that.
Speaker 7 (37:06):
And you know, so you know, we talked about explosion
and power out of your stance and stuff like that,
and and he didn't know who I was, and obviously
I know who he is. But man, just his ability to,
you know, be able to talk to anybody, you know,
always want to help. And man, I when that's all
we signed him in, the first thing I did was
text him like, man, I can't.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Wait to play with you because he's.
Speaker 7 (37:24):
Just an unbelievable competitor, unbelievable person. To be able to
share a room with him now and learn from him,
and he's one of the best to do it, and
he shows that day in and day out.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Now, I've been wanting to ask you this question for
a while, so correct me if I'm wrong on this.
But did you initially commit to play baseball for Davan
Orn down there at Arkansas?
Speaker 4 (37:43):
Yeah? I didn't. I didn't just come in. Man. I
played for him for a year.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
Okay, all right, I was I wasn't sure if you
actually played it in it or nut.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
I was gonna ask you because you see the Rockies.
You know, we've been good since the All Star brand offits.
Do you ever think, you know, Mad, maybe I need
to fire the cannon back up and be a two
sports star here in Denver.
Speaker 7 (37:59):
Man, I'll tell you what I uh, you know, I
always joke with my family, like, you know, when I
retire in eight years.
Speaker 4 (38:04):
Or whatever it is, you know, maybe.
Speaker 7 (38:06):
I'll if my shoulders are still put together, maybe I'll
I'll set that on that mount and see if.
Speaker 4 (38:10):
I can still let a rip. But no, man, that
that books, that book's been closed and field.
Speaker 7 (38:14):
But uh yeah, man, I mean it's a crazy journey
I've had. Man, I really, you know, wouldn't change it
for the world. And again, man, this is this is
my true love and I'm doing what I've always loved.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
Last one I have for you.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
Lucas really appreciates time Lucas Croll joining us here O
K with sports.
Speaker 4 (38:31):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
The offense has I mean again, you guys have a
really tough matchup during practice against this really good defense.
But I'd say that it feels like you guys are
finding some footing. It feels like some of the processing
is a little faster overall for you guys. Is that
part of the continuity, Is that part of the added
talent that you guys have, or is that a lot
to do with bon Nix kind of taking a step forward?
Speaker 4 (38:53):
Oh? Man, it's it's a little bit of everything.
Speaker 7 (38:56):
I mean, I think just when you look at our
team as a whole, man, I mean, you know you
already made interested in and how stout our defenses, and
you know they're gonna be the best in the league,
and and you know getting to go against them every
single day makes us better and better every single day as.
Speaker 4 (39:09):
An offense as a whole unit.
Speaker 7 (39:11):
And man, when you have ten back there throwing the
ball man and controlling the offense, and anything is possible.
Speaker 4 (39:17):
Man, he is he's the best to do it.
Speaker 7 (39:18):
Man, He's he's gonna be so phenomenal for his entire career.
Uh so blessed to be able to play alongside of
him and all the guys on offense. But uh man,
like I said, that that defense that we see every
single day, and I love it, man, because you get
to go compete against the best every day and uh man,
if you you know, if you can beat uh you know,
those guys in in you know, in coverage or or
(39:39):
in the run game, and uh you know, we can
go against anybody and beat them, so uh man, it
just really it puts our confidence to the highest and
and it's great.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
Luke's really appreciate chatting with you, man, Thank you so much.
Best to luck down only this weekend, but in the
season coming up. Man, appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (39:53):
Uh I really appreciate it. And thanks for having me.
You guys have a great day.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
Now you too, Lucas Kroll. That's good stuff. And you know,
like he got cut out of camp, so I guess that.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
Would make sense that his his lasting memory is I
was there in camp and camp is not fun for
like any player ever, So yeah, I mean, what a
what a what a statement? Just like, well, you know,
what's your memory of playing there. Oh, you know he
really liked the coaching staff or like being around I
got cut.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
Hey, look, I was trying to help the Rockies pitching,
That's all I was trying to do.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
But the guy drop stuff. Come on now with Arkansas
and you know, yeah, play a little bit.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
If he played for Arkansas and I who he committed
to day at Horb I couldn't know if he played
or not, and I do he had back in the day.
He's something like twenty seven strikeouts in his first sixteen
innings pitching something like that, like he was.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
It was a stud pitcher back in the day.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Well, I guess theoretically in eight years when he retires,
it would be a cool Disney story.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
Just Disney already did it move? He didn't. That wasn't it.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
Not not Randy quad That's Quaid, that is Quat, that's
Quaere's two different Quades.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
There, wildly different Quaites there, did Quaint? Was it the rookie?
Speaker 1 (41:04):
Yeah, I'm just saying thee but not a former football player,
former tight end going to play. I'm just saying, yeah,
the rookie Part Part two two sports Star.
Speaker 3 (41:17):
Anyways, that was a lot of fun. Thank you to
Broncos pr for helping. It's getting Lucas croll on. I
will obviously put that up on our website, Kwaitcolorado dot com.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
After the hour, Benjamin all brights more.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
Of Ben and Nick person me, me, me, it's gonna
be fascinating to listen to the two of you tie
yourself into knots on the whole of Beiley thing. I
can't wait. I really can't wait. I was reaching out
to Nick last night to give him.
Speaker 3 (41:49):
An opportunity to to moonwalk some of the things he
said on K Sports on Tuesday back, but he just
he kept doubling down. So I imagine he'll bring that
same energy into the studio here and wow, he'll he'll
just qualify and reframe and oh, you know, basically the
things we did last night on the show.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
But I don't recall any of that.
Speaker 1 (42:11):
You don't require you don't recall it, Like well, I said,
the definition of his is actually is and it's not his.
I don't recall any of that, Okay, I do recall
pointing you to the first hour, which I went back
and listened to. Did you really I did, Yeah, and
I was one hundred percent correct. I don't think you
one hundred percent, just like you were a hundred percent
correct on the unofficial Deft chart where you thought you
(42:32):
heard one thing and it was actually a different thing.
Which is why I went back and check this time,
did you Because I wasn't coming in today with Captain
smugg O over here, I was not subjecting myself.
Speaker 2 (42:41):
I wasn't going to set myself up for failure. Well
I begun to defile myself.
Speaker 1 (42:46):
I going to say this time, you know, I'm gonna
set yourself up for failure this time.
Speaker 2 (42:49):
I think she had that qualifier on there.
Speaker 3 (42:52):
Speaking of Ben and Nick catch Saturday's Broncos game with
Benjaminal Brian and Nick Ferguson had burned down Denver off
Broadway from eleven to one and an win in a
Broncos Raiders' trip to Vegas.
Speaker 2 (43:02):
That's pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (43:02):
So all presented by Arta Tequila, the official tequila of
the Denver Broncos. We'll get to a Broncos country tonight.
Come up here in a matter of moments.
Speaker 3 (43:11):
Kellen Moore, he did his press conference today and he
opened up with the trade for Devon Vley and his
thoughts man.
Speaker 8 (43:18):
A trade Devon Vley We're really excited to have an
opportunity to bring him and on board him with us.
Obviously a really good player, really good person, really had
a productive year last year in Denver, and so it
felt like as we went through the he you're always
looking for guys, looking for opportunities. It felt like it
was a great, great opportunity for us to get a
younger guy second year in the league that's still developing
and growing, and it'll be great for our for our team.
Speaker 2 (43:40):
And you know what's interesting for me.
Speaker 1 (43:42):
I don't know if this is interesting for you, Ben,
if you're a nerd like I am, I like to
listen to other press conferences from around the country, within
in the NFL and in the NFL media, and they'll
kind of questions get asked, Like the questions that Kellen
Moore gets asked are kind of a lot different than
what is asked out here in Denver of Sean.
Speaker 3 (44:02):
Payton, and there's a lot more leading him down the Oh,
so did you really like his blocking or you know,
how do you how do you see him lining up?
Do you feel like he's a guy that could like
they led him down the path on a lot of
his questions you know, but if you go listen to
the New York media, oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
Like some of the some of these coaches, I don't
even know how they.
Speaker 1 (44:22):
Like be locked in a closet and never allowed to
touch a football again?
Speaker 2 (44:26):
Did they answry? Was there a question in there?
Speaker 1 (44:27):
Can they go back behind the tor and cry, like
single tear rolling down their face or no, sean moreno
tear rolling down their face? After these press conferences, it's
just fascinating to listen listening to the press conference and
they I'm like, well, that's an easy question for him
to answer, Like the expectations for this team are so bad.
I just can imagine some of our media if they
got a chance to talk to the Saints, the coach
(44:50):
and the GM and all, they'd be like, what's the plan?
What are we doing here? What would you say we're
doing here?
Speaker 2 (44:56):
What? What?
Speaker 4 (44:58):
Like?
Speaker 2 (44:59):
Situation looks like we're tanking.
Speaker 1 (45:01):
But if they were going out and spending on receivers
a new starting receiver, are you trying to tell me
that we're really gonna roll out Spencer Rattler as our quarterback,
the raw snake, Like those are the questions that would
be asked here in Denver, were out in New York.
Are you really prepared to play a whole season of
Spencer Rattler Tyler Chuck? And of course he say yes,
because that's weeah, literally what they're planning on doing. He's like,
(45:25):
we're gonna play the charters.
Speaker 2 (45:28):
We're asking who that is? I don't know, don't tell
him we got that. What we're asking that tried to
be mean.
Speaker 1 (45:36):
It's just it's fascinating because I would be, as a
proud Saints fan, probably apoplectic about what is going on
with his team right now. First of all, how dare
you count out Jake Hayner because at some point this
season he's probably gonna get some run too.
Speaker 3 (45:52):
He's we're gonna se him on Saturday. I know, that's yeah,
you know what I'm.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
Saying, right.
Speaker 3 (45:58):
I mean the different ways that the media interact with
the coaches and the players, it's a little bit more
of a friendly.
Speaker 2 (46:05):
Vibe, and I dig that. It's cool.
Speaker 1 (46:07):
And you used to be able to count on the
Saints for at least having a decent defense in the
post Sean Payton era when Dennis Allen was doing things.
You know, Isaac Yanham is one of their starting corners.
Dead serious, No, I know, I believe that we saw
our guy, Michael Ojibudia back in the league's signed with
the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (46:28):
Yeah, interesting to see how he? Uh?
Speaker 1 (46:30):
I mean that fits that Tampa two defense. That fits
for him. He can play low zone corner.
Speaker 2 (46:34):
And you still don't think that a Demari Mathis trade
could happen? Huh. I don't think anybody's.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
You know what, I said it with Ala, So I'm
gonna wish it into existence by saying I don't think
anybody's trading for Mathis, And I hope I'm wrong.
Speaker 2 (46:47):
I hope I'm wrong. I hope somebody ponies. You know what,
Let's get a fourth and a seventh for the Murray Mathis.
I finally have gotten through to you. I listen, what
is it?
Speaker 1 (46:57):
Five point fifty four on Thursday, Long Ast twenty first,
I have finally broken been all right?
Speaker 2 (47:03):
No, no, I am backing better than ever.
Speaker 1 (47:05):
No, no r jaying this thing you've been broken, We've
broken you in. Finally, you finally have added some actual
sedges to some of your reports. Do you think you
think you have? It's just like when Bain broke the
bat and he came back better than ever, so what
happened like a phoenix
Speaker 2 (47:23):
Rise
