Speaker 1 (00:00):
I brought those countries and I coming up at the
top of the hour. We will also do show me
the money. I left my rundown outside, so I'll have
to go grab that here in a second. But we
had some NFL preseason football. Lucas Croll is going to
join us here in a matter of moments. The Panthers
and the Steelers. Panthers have not had a good preseason.
Ben their coach the other day, pretty frustrated with through
(00:21):
over all performance.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
The Steelers. Meanwhile, one and ones.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
That's the game going on right now, the Giants and Patriots,
the battle of the unbeatens in the preseason.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
I know that you care about these things. Obviously.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
We care about records and scoring in the preseason's final scores.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Those are things that matter.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
As we saw the Bears last year second in points,
second points differential win in their preseason games, and they
went on to I'm checking my notes here a.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Top ten draft pick.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Indeed, trying to figure out which round of the playoffs
the Bears made last year.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
I can't seem to locate them. Well, they did have
justin fields to their team at that point, so you
can't hate on as much.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yeah, I mean, you know, you would have thought that
letting go of the anchor would help the boat move faster.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
We'll see, you.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Know physics at all, it would be for acceleration. Yeah,
that's exactly right.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
No, I mean, as far as the preseason stuff goes,
and I know, like I beat this quote to death,
everything matters in the preseason. It does, except the final score. Yeah,
accept the wins and losses. Every every rep matters. The
way you perform every rep matters, you know. I think
one of my favorite old time preseason stories is one
that's kind of overdone as well, and that's the Terrell
Davis thing. If if he had found somebody who could
(01:39):
have understood him when he was trying to book a
flight to get out of there in Japan and then
he turned around because he couldn't, he ended up wound
up playing in that preseason game, wound up having that
tackle on special teams, and it sparked a Hall of
Fame career.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Remarkable.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
I don't hear a lot of stories like that, but
it is truly remarkable, and it wouldn't have happened about
the preseason. It was cool today here Quinn Miners and
Brandon Jones all talking about the value of playing in
the preseason, getting knocking the rust off and getting those
hits in.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
And we're gonna.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Ask our next guest as we head out to the
Kai Comma Spirit Health Hotline and bring on Broncos tight
end Lucas Croll.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Lucas, thank you so much for the time.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Man.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
You're on with Benjaminal Brighton, Ryan Everards.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
How are you, Hey, how y'all doing. I'm doing good.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
We're doing great, Very excited to chat with you. Yeah,
you're just talking about how Quinn Minors and Brandon Jones
when they addressed the media earlier, they're talking about the
value of playing in the preseason, getting a chance to
get out there and play against other players knock some
of the rust off. Do you feel the same way
about playing in the preseason.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Oh yeah, a thousand percent. You know, we're actually kind
of talking about this as a unit in the tiding
room today and man, I think we just we value
that so much, just because to your point of you know,
it's been you know, several months since we've you know,
played the game. I mean obviously at training camp, but
you know, when the lights come on and you know,
it's it's full go. It's it's different. And so for us,
(02:58):
you know, getting that getting that opportunity to get out
there and you know, I guess you could say knock
the russ off, but really just the opportunity to compete
and play the game full at the highest level. And
you never want to turn that down. And so every
time we get the opportunity, we want to go out
there and dominate when we're in.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
When you uh, you know, when you get out there
for the for the preseason and and you've got the
practices in the games, you've gone through camp and you're
getting up to that third game and it gets tiring
and stuff like that, is it difficult at all to
to stay dialed in or do you are you stay
looking at this like, hey, this is a competition, and
you know if I slip even for a second, is
it that level of pressure?
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Oh a thousand percent to that point? You know it's uh,
you know, your tape is your resume, and you know
this is your job, right and so uh, anytime you
know you're going out there on a Sunday or you
know for listeners and Saturday, uh, and you got to
put your best stuff on tape. And and to my
point of competing, and that's that's what we're bred to do,
that's what we uh, we play this game for. We
(03:55):
love to compete, we love to win. And uh, anytime
people are keeping score, man, you want to put your
best effort forward.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
And uh and when what is your lasting memory of
your time with Saints.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Getting cut? No?
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Wow? Does that make I mean does that motivation?
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Though?
Speaker 5 (04:14):
Is that like you want to go back, even in
a preseason game and put.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
It to him always? I mean, you know, that's the
nature of this job, nature of this game. But yeah, man,
anytime I get to go back there, man, it's you know,
it's always a little bit different. But you know, at
the end of the day, there's there's always the no
but no bad blood. But man, this is a job
and uh and man, I'm happier than I've ever been
in uh to be in the blue and orange. And
(04:37):
man I love it, love being here and love being
a Bronco And uh, yeah, I always you know, I
don't really care who who it is going against me,
but you know, in assistance, yeah, sure, it might be
a little different. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
I mean, it sounded like there was bad blood a
little bit. It doesn't make you want to.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
Put a little extra on that curl spike in the
end zone.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Yeah, I don't know, maybe a little extra mile an
hour or two behind it.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Love that. Hey, you're you're tied. End Room outed Evan
Ingram in the off season. What has he been like?
Speaker 4 (05:06):
He just an absolute stud man on and off the
field and one of my you know, good friends already.
You know, I got the you know privilege of meeting
him a couple of years ago at my first time
going to the tight End You event, and uh, I'll
never forget. And I tell a story you know often
when people ask me about him, But man, I'll never
forget the first time I watched him release on a
route and I'm not even kidding you. Like his first step,
(05:28):
I mean getting like five yards up the field on
one step, and I had to go up to him like, dude, like,
how do you do that? Like it's impressive, It's insane.
I've never seen that. And you know, so you know,
we talked about explosion and power out of your stance
and stuff like that, and man, he didn't know who
I was, and obviously I know who he is, but man,
just his ability to you know, be able to talk
(05:49):
to anybody, you know, always want to help, and man,
I when I saw we signed him in, my first
thing I did was text him like, Man, I can't
wait to play with you because he's just an unbelievable competitor,
unbelievable person. To be able to share a room with
him now and learn from him, Man, he's one of
the best to do it, and he shows that day
in and day out.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Now, I've been wanting to ask you this question for
a while, so correct me if I'm wrong on this,
But did.
Speaker 5 (06:11):
You initially commit to play baseball for Davan Orn down
there at Arkansas?
Speaker 4 (06:16):
Oh? Yeah, I didn't. I didn't just come in, man,
I played for him for a year.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Okay, all right, I was.
Speaker 5 (06:20):
I wasn't sure if you actually played it in it
or nuts.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
I was gonna ask you because you see.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
The Rockies, you know, who've been good since the All
Star breaking off its. Do you ever think, you know,
maybe I need to fire the cannon back up and
be a two sports star here in Denver.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
Man, I'll tell you what I uh. You know, I
always joke with my family, like you know, when I
retire in eight years or whatever it is. You know,
maybe I'll if my shoulders are still put together, maybe
I'll cut that on that mountain, see if I can
still let a rip. But no, man, that that books,
that book's been closed and field. But uh yeah, man,
I mean it's a crazy journey I've had. Man, I really,
(06:53):
you know, wouldn't change it for the world. And and again, man,
this is this is my true love and I'm doing
what I've I've always.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
Loved last one I have for you.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Lucas really appreciates time Lucas Croll joining us here at
KA Sports. The offense has I mean again, you guys
have a really tough matchup during practice against this really
good defense. But I'd say that it feels like you
guys are finding some footing. It feels like some of
the processing is is a little faster overall for you guys.
Is that part of the continuity, Is that part of
the added talent that you guys have, or is that
(07:22):
a lot to do with bon Nick's kind of taking
a step forward?
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (07:26):
Man, it's it's a little bit of everything. I mean,
I think just when you look at our team as
a whole, man, I mean, you know, you already mentioned it,
and how stout our defense is, and you know they're
gonna be the best in the league, and and you know,
getting to go against them every single day makes us
better and better every single day as an offense as
a whole unit. And man, when you have ten back
there throwing the ball, man and controlling the offense, and
(07:49):
anything is possible. Man, he is he's the best to
do it. Man, he's he's gonna be so phenomenal for
his entire career. So blessed to be able to play
alongside of him and all the guys on offense. But man,
like I said that, that defense that we see every
single day, Man, I love it, man, because you get
to go compete against the best every day. And man,
if you you know, if you can beat you know,
those guys in you know, in coverage or or in
(08:12):
the run game, and uh, you know, we can go
against anybody and beat them. So uh man, it just
really it puts our confidence to the highest and and
it's great.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Lucas really appreciate chatting with you, man, Thank you so much.
Best of luck, not only this weekend but in the
season coming up. Man, appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
I really appreciate it and thanks for having me.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
You guys have a great day, you too, Lucas Kroll.
That's good stuff.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
Well, and you know, like he got cut out of camp,
So I guess that would make sense that his his
lasting memory is I was there in camp and camp
is not fun for like any player ever.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
So yeah, what a what a statement?
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Just like, well, you know, what's your memory of playing there? Oh,
you know he really liked the coaching staff or like
being around.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
I got cut Hey, look, I was trying to help
the Rockies pitching, That's all I was trying to do.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
But the drop stuff come on now with Arkansas and
you know, yeah, play a little bit.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
If he played for.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
For Arkansas and I knew he committed to Dave At
but I couldn't know if he played or not.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
And uh, yeah I do. He had back in the day.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
He's something like twenty seven strikeouts in his first sixteen
innings pitching something like that, Like he was. It was
a stud pitcher back in the day.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Well, I guess theoretically in eight years when he retires,
it would be a cool Disney story.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
We just go. Disney already did a movie, didn't That
was it not not not Randy Quaid, Dennis Quaid. It
is Quat, that's Quay. There's two different quads there, wildly
different quaits there. Uh Dinnis Quaid? Was it the Rookie
Dennis Quick Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
I'm just saying the entertain movie, but not a former
football player, former tight end going to play even better.
I'm just saying, yeah, the Rookie Part Part two, two
Sports Star.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Anyways, that was a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Thank you to Broncos PR for helping us getting uh
Lucas croll on. We'll obviously put that up on our website,
