Speaker 1 (00:00):
Uck, welcome back. Here's Wednesday at four o'clock, which means
went out to the KA Kommasbury Health hotline and bring
on one of our favorites, the one and only Rick Lewis.
You can chere about on the Rickless Project. You guys
are plan Friday nights right?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Yeah, Hey guys, Hi the Dynamic Duo. You guys doing that?

Speaker 1 (00:17):
We're good? Pretty well? Rick, I got to ask you
what the funk is up? And then you know, how's
your drum tech getting to the show on Friday? Okay?

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Well, yeah, we do have a show Friday at the
Buffalo Rose in Golden Historic Venue and Freddie Jones band
will be headlined in the show. Actually we're going to
open the show and tickets are available go to Buffalo
Rosegolden dot com. They've got a little promo code too.
You can click on that and get a bogo right now.

(00:47):
I highly recommend you do that while you can still
do it. And if you need a ride, Ben, you
can hit your ride with me. And of course I'm
not going to be able to pay you that night.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
That's my drum tech, that's per our custom.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Okay, but I just want to make sure you're not
starting to anticipate that this is going to turn into
a paid gig for you.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Yeah, I know, I was hoping for maybe a basket
of fries, but you know I can.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
I can do that myself. Oh yeah, I got I
got cheeseburger, fries, whatever you want.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
And this I talked myself into a meal. Fantastic on
a Friday. Valuable services I bring to the table like
a perfect Friday night. To be honest, Hey, Rick, it's
it's good to hear from you, man. And of course
we're all excited about the season. Storrty. This was a
really funny, very quick moment here from Sean Payton was
asked by Zach Zach with a d m VR Sex
Stevens about the fast start of what what it looks

(01:38):
like is a fast start for the Broncos. This is
really funny. It was a key to a fast start
to get the season going.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Especially to win the first game. Okay, you know what,
I don't have a problem with that. But I did
not have a problem with that. You don't want to
start looking down the road. It's game one and I'm ready, man,
when's it's all Wednesday? And I'm starting to twitch a
little bit. I don't know about you, guys. I'm kind

(02:05):
of starting to get that little tingle.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Yeah, well they do have prescriptions for that. Yeah, I say,
said clear up in a week or two. Yeah, not that.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Kind of jingle. But you know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Yes, we did. No, we're excited, man. I mean coming
into today and knowing the Broncos were practicing out there,
that we're gonna hear from the coach, we're gonna hear
from the quarterback, and and we have to officially start
kind of previewing the first game. I mean, it's one
thing when it's preseason and we're talking about what we
hope to see, this is this is when it matters,
and this is a game. We were sort of talking
about expectations for the season in the first hour, Rick,

(02:38):
and I mean, it's a level of optimism from Broncos
country that we have not seen in quite some time. So,
I don't know, man, where where your where's your optimism level?
You're typically optimistic guy, Where's you're at for the season?

Speaker 2 (02:51):
So we're talking for the whole season. We're gonna start
with this week, Okay, the whole season? Yeah, I am,
I'm more than cautiously optimistic. I think they got a
pretty good chance to win the AFC West this year.
I do think they'll be a playoff team even if
they don't win the AFC West. I do think they'll
be a playoff team. I had them at like ten

(03:13):
or eleven. I'm going to stick with that because the
AFC West is going to be so competitive. I think
they'll be three teams bunched up there near the top.
And if things go the Broncos way and they can
stay healthy, I think they got a legit chance to
win the division.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
All right, Well, where's your optimism for the first game then,
I imagine it's got to be pretty high since you're
picking ten or eleven wins. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah. Tennessee was a terrible team last year. They only
won three games, and their head coaches on the hot
seat already in his second year as a head coach.
That being said, Tennessee went out and really on paper,
they improved it just about every position, especially at offensive
line and quarterback with a cam Ward and Cam didn't

(04:02):
show much in preseason. I think they were protecting him,
didn't want to show too much. But they love what
they've seen in camp from him. They say he has
a quiet confidence, no drama. He's a perfectionist. He keeps
doing things until he gets it right. All the things
you want for your franchise quarterback. And you know what,

(04:24):
there's some people in Nashville that think this team could
win ten games this year. So if that's the case,
you can't take him lightly. You can't take anybody lightly
in the NFL. You guys know that some people even
think they could win the AFC South. So with that
in mind, Broncos need to show up, take care of business.

(04:46):
You need to win at home. If the Broncos can
win nine home games this year, it's going to be
a heck of a season. Even if they can win eight,
I think the Broncos are going to have a heck
of a year. But you start with game one, just
like Payton said, you start up with this game, You
take care of business, you win this game, and then
you move on with Rick Lewis, Rick, you.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Know you said there are people in Nashville believe the
Titans could win ten games. I was unaware that they
had legalized marijuana in Nashville, But yeah, looking at this,
looking at this Titans defensive line, This might be the
secret for what Tennessee wants to do. They get a
beefy defensive line, the three man front of Jeffrey Simmons
who's a Bernial Allpro, Tavandre Sweat who was a massive

(05:28):
human being, and Sebastian Joseph Day that's one of the
best three man fronts in the league, Tovandracepa of course,
three hundred and sixty six pounds by the way, that
is a beefy front three. To tie up the Broncos
offensive line.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Yeah, and the Broncos are going to run a lot
of the wide zone scheme, which I think works against
a defensive line like that. Last year they gave up
four and a half yards to carry on the season,
So when you look at that, I think the Broncos
have to feel pretty good that they can run the
ball against Tennessee. In fact, let's hope so, because we

(06:03):
really didn't see them do it much in preseason, and
I do think they will focus on trying to establish
a run game this week against Tennessee with JK. Dobbins
and RJ. Harvey, and I do think they'll be able
to do that. Then, of course, when you can get
the run game established, everything else opens up and bow
Knicks could end up having a big game on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Be great to see a last room for me. Rick,
always appreciate you checking with us and again all season long,
and Wednesdays at four o'clock we'll hear from Rick Lewis.
So you talked about the run game, and that feels
like the biggest We don't really know what that looks
like just yet. So we're optimistic about a lot of things,
the overall season record, what they can do on Sunday.

(06:47):
Where's your optimism level sitting right now?

Speaker 2 (06:50):
With the run game, I feel pretty good about it,
especially if Dobbins can stay healthy. I think he'll have
a thousand yards rushing this year. We go he almost
had it last year, But the key is can he
stay healthy. This guy, even going back to high school,
is a guy that's been injured a lot, and not
just injured, but pretty severe injuries throughout his career. I

(07:13):
like his chances this year. I can't wait to see
him on Sunday. We didn't see him at all in preseason. Really,
I can't wait to see him Sunday, see what they
do with him.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
R J.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Harvey We're still trying to figure him out too. Is
he a three down back? No, not yet. He needs
to improve in pass pro. But the one two combination
I think is going to be very effective.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Rick, last one from me, who's your Who's your preseason
or at least before the season starts. Broncos MVP this year?

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Uh, you want offense and defense?

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Sure, yeah, we'll go for two for we'll double it up.
You pay extra for that.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Yeah, MVP. I think it's going to be Bo Nicks.
I think Bo will continue to progress this year. Coming
off a really good rookie year. He should be even
better this year, especially if they can run the football defense.
PS two is an easy one. Let's say, let's say

(08:16):
Nick Benito this year.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
Nice.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Let's say Nick Benito comes up with fifteen or sixteen
sacks this year, we'll give him the defense of MVP.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Check out the Rick Lewis Project with the Freddie Jones
Man this Friday night the Buffalo Rose and of course
Benjamin Albright so drum drum Tech. Drum Tech will be

Speaker 2 (08:35):

got to rock the black you.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
Gotta rock the black, Rick, I can't wait to get
another season going here. As we get to a chat
on Sunday, my friend, I appreciate you so much.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
I'm twitching.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
Man.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Yeah, let's play the game. I'm ready looking forward to it. Guys,
thanks for having me on.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
