Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
Shelby Harris joining us here at four point thirty. Very
excited to chat with him after a big win for
the Browns over the Packers, biggest upset of the weekend.
Very cool stuff there from Shelby, and of course he
had the key field goal block that eventually led to that.
So we'll hear from Shelby here in just a little bit.
Rod Smith and the studio after five o'clock. I imagined Rod's
going to have a lot of fiery things to say

(00:21):
after another brutal loss for the Broncos. Hopefully they can
get back on track Monday Night football coming up against
the Cincinnati Bengals. You know we're speaking about the secondary.
A moment ago.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
John A.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Barn I got some calls during Broncos react Nick for
fans that were saying they want to bench Riley Moss
and they think better to play Jehane Baron, better to
play Chris Abrams Strain.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
And you know the stat came out yesterday.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
We said it on the air, but I can I
can bring it back here. Luca Evans had stat. Yeah,
you saw that that stat about the number of targets
to Riley Moss. And I mean he's only he's given
up less than fifty percent completion rates on those targets.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Here it is.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
He's got the second most targeted cornerback in the NFL
per next Gen stats thirteen to twenty seven, forty eight
point one percent completion when targeting him for one hundred
and seventy yards and eighty point eight passer rating against
you are as I understand.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
It's very LOGICU am I thinking, thank you, Well, those
are your words.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
You are wanting to defend Riley Moss.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
See, it's not a thing of defending.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
It's about stating the obvious that somehow is accluded to individuals.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Because when you get.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Frustrated in life, no matter whatever it is, somehow the
too O host the eyes that we have they shut
off to what oh hosts eyes?

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Right, that's that's it. Don't worry about it.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
It justs o holes No what hosts?

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Oh hosts?

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Oh Spanish speaking Spanish?

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Yes, Okay, I'm sorry that go ahead.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
I know.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
I know.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Like I told you, I thought you said something else,
so I get it.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Not your average black guy, remember I said you so
to make you point who about legal.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Every now once in a while, But The whole idea
is that when when you are frustrated, your eyes closed
to things that are obvious to you. Because let's talk
about that target rate. When you are opposite the reigning
defensive player of the year, what do you think is
going to happen. You're going to get the bulk of

(02:38):
the targets and to be totally fair, And this is
me not being a homer, this is me being a
former dB coach, because you're going to be in phase
with the guy, but sometimes they're just going to beat you.
Better body position, better ball placement. You look at the
Quinn Johnston throw, which was one hell of a throw

(03:02):
by Justin Herbert on the move. He couldn't even set
his feet. Ball placement put it to a point where
only his guys can come down with it.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Now, the Keenan.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Allen touchdown, that video, you can check that video out
and Nick ferguson Underscore twenty five. I'll put that up
later another example of ball placement. A good ball is
going to beat great defense every single time, and just
so happen, Rolly's in the frame. This is something that's

(03:33):
gonna happen. But I would challenge anyone who's saying that
Raleigh Moss needs to be benched in favor of Joddy Barron.
I would challenge all of those people to go out
there and do his job. Well, that's yeah, I know.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
It's not gonna happen. So it sounds great.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Sitting on a sofa not covering a guy in that
position and being in your feelings sometimes block the brains
to naps this and being able to process information.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Okay, I I'm listening.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
You know you dip into this Ryan Clark thing every
so often. It cracks me up.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Wait, wait, wait, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
You're trying to paint me with that brush of RC.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Why, Well, because being logical, No, because you're just saying
that you're not playing you didn't play the game stuff.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
That's not what I said.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
No, that's exactly what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
No, that's not what I said.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
You really are saying.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
No.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
I say, it's easier.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
For someone to sit on a sofa and say, well,
here's what should have happened, here's what he didn't do.
But I'm just saying, if you know, if you put
yourself in that situation, the outcome is different because.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
You can't do that job. This.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Listen, I see where you're coming from this, and I.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Don't know why we're missing each other on every single
topic today. This is not intentional your argument. It means
that a fan can never have an opinion on whether that.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
That's what you just said.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
You said, Hey, you sitting on your couch can't have
that same opinion as somebody who played the game.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
No, that's not the job. No, no, no, no, that's
not about you're doing it Ryan, everything I said. It's
easy for someone to sit on.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
The sofa and pre judge, but being in that situation,
the world is entirely different. Roley Moss is in position,
He's in phase right, and just like ps two people
attacked him after the Colts game all he was getting burned.
I'm just like, Okay, now I feel the need to
explain what you just saw in greater detail.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Okay, So rather than re repeating any of this, let
me ask you sort of a forward leaning angle on this.
Is there ever a point that a fan, not somebody
that played the game, but a fan can say, hey,
I think this guy is struggling and we should be
looking at about it.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Can say that all they want to, I mean, from
their couch. They have their right to say it.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
But once again, but.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
He carries no, no, no, no.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Can you articulate what it is that you're seeing, because
like I told you before, we can all see the
same thing. What we see in ntality different because we
see these narratives, and the narratives have been built up
as far as the level of expectations. And because of
the expectations, the idea is that you shut down everyone.
They don't run the ball, there's no passes. That's not football. Right.

(06:24):
We can say that, hey, a guy was in position,
maybe he didn't make the play because the ball beat him.
Maybe a second earlier, maybe he makes the play. Okay,
we can say that. But to say, well, we're gonna
bitch the guy because well, your fantasy.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Team isn't doing too well.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
You've taken up arms against this guy, because there is
this tsunami of narratives that say that suggests that, hey,
we need to get rid of Roley Mouss in favor
of Johnny Baron.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
I mean, we do live in a world of mob mentality, right.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
We do.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
You don't have to be so condescending about it.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Though I'm not being condescending. I'm not yes, you are.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
You're talking down to fans that I'm not.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Talking down to fans.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
I'm just saying when you see something, understand what it
is that you see. And sometimes fans can be misled
by others who are writing articles or individuals behind the mic.
So what I decide to do?

Speaker 4 (07:20):
What you are to share with the class?

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Where you're going with that, well, I mean we do
live in Denver, and you do know I don't have
to call names. How people are in this market that
they push narratives. Some people are called Karens in a
certain way, but I'm not gonna call them that. But
the idea is that look at a situation objectively, right,

(07:44):
just look at it objectively.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
And that's all I'm trying to present.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Like when I hear things say like this, Ryan, I
go to my videos and I show people with the
idea of showing you what unfolded. You make your own
decision either way, but I'm going to show you. They
give you a different viewpoint. It's up to you whether
you you know digest it or not.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
I don't think Riley Mos should benched either for what
it's God, I totally don't, and I even said so
and Broncos react. I didn't think he had the best game,
but I think there was a lot of guys that
that had some struggle moments in the game. He was
in face you talk about that touchdown with Keenan Allen,
I don't know what else you supposed to do? What else?
I legitimately don't know.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
I would go back to the sideline like looking at Vance,
Joseph and everyone else, like, what do you want me
to do in that situation? What do you want me
to do? Yeah, great ball place meant great hands by
Keenan Allen. You can't play it any better than that.
I got one for you. You ready for this one? I'm
afraid Why no Tango el gato lose pantalones?

Speaker 4 (08:49):
The cat isn't wearing pants? Well, once you warn me
is coming. I did grow up in New Mexico, but
well you just drop into it.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
And I really didn't know what and I didn't know
if it's some kind of slang that I didn't I
wasn't aware of, And I was like, can I can
I say?

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Can we say that on the air? Of course if
we couldn't, I wouldn't. But you got it. But you
got it. That's the only thing that mattered.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
You got it?

Speaker 2 (09:16):
You push boundaries. Yes, so you say we can and
then you know later on I'm media a text from
the boss saying, hey, can you swing in the office.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
No, no, listen, I'm not icarous.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
I'm not flying too close to the sun and melting
my wax wings.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
I'm not doing that you do sometimes with your outfits.
But yeah, that's fair.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
What what I'm not flying too close to This is
a good fit.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
No, this fit works.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Okay, what you were last night, I have no idea,
like if you just did that blindfolded or whatever.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
But this is good.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
Oh no, my fit last night was tight.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
It was according to.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Me, I had the great, great Nike vests.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
But ye, man, it was good Chargers colors.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
No, it wasn't.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
I had had the bro Broncos hat. You got to coordinate.
You got to coordinate.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
If you reference it like that, then yes. But even
Steve Attwater said you were wearing Chargers colors.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
For crying out loud, because that was Steve trying.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
To be funny. Steve is funny.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Oh he's not.

Speaker 4 (10:19):
Steve is very funny.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
But it's it's you know, hey, you know I'm not
gonna say it because Grants were older right now, and
he's gonna play this back later.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
That gonna sound like we're goofed on Steve. We love Steve.
Steve was the best.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
All right, We're gonna Showy Harris joining us here in
just a matter what his text line agrees with you
in the sentiment of not bitching Riley Moss.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
The would agree with both of us.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
Well, both of us.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Not right, they agreed with both of us, because both
of us agreed that that would be silly. I tell
you that there are still some things about the defense
that need to continue to get ironed out. I don't believe,
and I'm interesting if you agree with this. I don't
believe they're playing at the top five level. Can we
agree on that?

Speaker 5 (10:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:59):
I would. I would agree based on the mistakes that
they've made, and in my opinion, all of their mistakes
are all correctable because these are drive extending penalties, right,
just like when you look at Hufunga tossing Keenan Allen
on the ground. I told Steve yesterday they would have
gotten me with that too, because I'm in I'm in
a drive mode and I don't know. And if you

(11:21):
don't blow the whistle and I don't hear it, and
I let you go, you keep running. Now it's a touchdown.
I don't know. I was taught to put guys on
the ground, to leave no stone on turn.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
So as an official, you know he's on the ground.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
That was a tough moment, that first catch by Quintin
Johnson and then he ended up.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Maybe they hurt a whistle, maybe they thought there was
a whistle. And what are you doing in those moments
that were where he took it up? Feel for three
seven yards?

Speaker 1 (11:48):
I know exactly which play And this is the reason
you put him on the ground.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
You run through his face.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
I'm gonna find the play really quick.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
Is that so that that they should have even though
conceptually you think the play's over.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Well, to me, the plays not over until you hear
somewhat of a whistle. But rule of thumb is that
putting the guy on the ground signifies to the referee
and officials standing there that he is down.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
All right. Here's the play, Chuka snap five minut pressure.

Speaker 6 (12:19):
Herbert throws a ball that is caught and pulling away
and now running free inside the twenty yard line and
forced out of bounds is Quinton Johnson Kallanola Hulfunga on
the tackle.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
That was a strange play.

Speaker 6 (12:33):
All the Bronco defenders paused for a minute like them
all were incomplete.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
And you know what usually happens on those types of plays.
I see Ryan Edwards writ in proximity to the guy
the ball carrier.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
I think Ryan is gonna make the tackle, so I
might slow down.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
No no, no no. See in my Nick Ferguson World of
My Brain, I learned something from running Ronnie Lott.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
Win in doubt, hit everyone.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
So if I'm uncertain if you're going to make the tackle,
I'm going.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
To hit you and the ball carry.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Is that a quote?

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Yes, that is a quote.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Win in doubt, hit everyone, Win in doubt, hit everyone.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
And that's what I did.

Speaker 4 (13:12):
Felure.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
It needs a little follow up PSA. That's only on
the football field.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Win in doubt, hit everybody, clean.

Speaker 6 (13:19):
House forty three yard field goal prize to get Green
Bay the minute that.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Is locked balls down on the ground, Hey, Greg.

Speaker 5 (13:27):
No footballs on it.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
On the forty seven.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
Of the ground.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
There's the lord off the edge.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
I know with my own O hosts.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
Or speaking Spanish now the show that it looks like
Shelby Harris was the guy because he's got the best
hands in the league, and he joins us right now, Shelby,
maybe you can help us with this.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
That was you, man, wasn't it.

Speaker 5 (13:49):
You know, I get that ball of hot all big
shows you at the day, you know, even if the
pinch maybe a little bit of ends, but at the
end of the day, you know, it's a cheain effort
and I'm just happy we were able to get the win.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Come on, man, yeah, but that's true. That is all
very true, and what a win. It was huge upset
and I I feel, well, listen, I saw that happen,
and I saw you guys find a way to sort
of hang in there and win that game. And almost
immediately after, I'm thinking of like, how many parlays out there,
how many people that had really thought, like the Survivor

(14:28):
League people out there that were like, oh, well, yeah,
green Bay's got Cleveland.

Speaker 4 (14:32):
This is an easy one, man. This is the league.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
That is one of the coolest things about this league.
And I think it I read it afterwards, Shelby. I
don't know if you know this. I think it's the
first time in NFL history something along those lines that
a team had a ten point lead with like three
to four minutes left in the game and lost that game. So, man,
congratulations to you guys, very cool stuff.

Speaker 5 (14:54):
I'm happy we can contribute to history. The way I
look at it, man, is you know, no matter what,
no matter how much you're down, you gotta just keep fighting.
You know. The local times and people don't realize this
from the NFL, teams are a lot closer to each
other than further apart. And obviously you get college where

(15:15):
you do get those big difference than teams were talent
where some teams are way bigger and way better than
other has been there. So it's from the best team
to the worst team. It's just such a small difference
in a small fall difference and talent, and that's why
that's that's what makes the NFL so great, is that
we can't wake out. Anything can happen. And as it did,

(15:36):
you know, we we were losing the whole game, and
then we come up with a big interception, take the
ball back to the floor, and then you know, we
scored there, and then Dreamway takes it down almost immediately
and then they type of our field goal and what's the
best part about it was it was on bback and
that's that's the best part about the whole thing being
on McMahons. But you know, then you go down and

(15:57):
Bill Bow and then if we had a more athletic
corner and very from he would have picked it up
and scored. But you know, it is what it is.
We have we have.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
You know, he said, a more athletic corner, you would
have picked it up and scored, saying a.

Speaker 5 (16:12):
More athletic corner would have picked up and scored and
not had b Max fall probable. But I'm just saying.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
He's speaking of which here's my question for you, as
as an individual who got his big ball up there
and blocked the ball, could you have done what Jordan
Davis did and with could you could you scoop a
store and run it back the way that big man
stumbled and rumble? Could you could you have done that?

Speaker 5 (16:36):
Tell me you could have just just a way that
it had, you know, the whole block had happened. No,
I was out in a position to do that. That's
what nig Jordan David says. What he did so much
more impressive is because he didn't just block the ball.
He broke through the line and blocked the ball. Then
Bowling picked it up and then went and scored like

(16:56):
that right there, that's the big man. But like this,
like an interception, the big man's dream show off the
wheels because we didn't know. I remember, remember the combine, Jordan,
Jordan Davis. That was like the phenomenon when he did
for the forty at his side, so we all know
he can move. So that's what you know. That's that's
the big man's dream. Thought, show up. Let him know

(17:19):
that blind them.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
So so sel you.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
If I heard you correctly, Jordan Davis is a little
more motivated than you are.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
Oh come on now, hold on, hold on, that's the.

Speaker 5 (17:32):
Way, that's what you want to say. We both came
out with the wind and that's all of that.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
Hey, finally, have you heard the who just played the
Cleveland call? Have you heard the green Bay call yet?
Of the block?

Speaker 5 (17:45):
No? I have not heard.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
Well, we love.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Doing this, you know that, I specifically love doing this.
I love sound anyways, but I like to hear the
of a big time moment.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
So this was you.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
We played the Cleveland block as we're coming back. Here's
how it sounded on Green Bay Packers Radio network.

Speaker 6 (18:01):
Pike's been made, kick and ye try kicks block block kick,
top back.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
Up Crown's new sub.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
I knew the phony.

Speaker 6 (18:11):
Line up Cleveland and the Browns have an opportunity twenty
one second tech go.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
So wait, wait, hold on, so waye Larryvie.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
I give him credit because he's in the play by
he kept the energy up like that was like sometimes
with the play by calls, it's, oh my gosh, I
can't believe.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
This just happened.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
But then you heard in the background Larry Mckerron, who
does color. He's like, oh my god.

Speaker 5 (18:37):
Unbelievable, unbelievable. But no, that's isn't that Isn't that what
makes the spokes so great? You know what I mean?
This is what makes football the best game in the
world because you have moments, moments and and and it's
frank because in the stando, I mean there's a ten
minutes there were three field goal blocks around the league. Yeah,

(19:00):
and I think that that's never been done before. And
that's this game is somehow seams together. This is like this,
there's no way that that just happens and it's not
meant to be.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Well, and again you talked about the athleticism. If if,
if you guys had an athletic because because the Eagles
was returned for a touchdown, the Jets that was returned
for a touchdown. But Cleveland, you guys, you know you
didn't didn't didn't quite get there.

Speaker 4 (19:27):
Huh.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
He's not a grudge the Gregs credit, even though he
is not athletics the Gregs the Gregs credit. I will
say the fall that I'm about. You know, we've been
giving him crap about this since the since the game
and after when we watched the film. The ball did
take a crazy bounce and you know it's bouncing and
it looks like it's going to bounce up to him again,
and it bounced a complete way. So it did until

(19:51):
his credit. It did give a bad bounce. But you know,
at the end of the day, the only thing that
matters is one.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
And wan No, that's good man. Well, we're very excited
for you.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
And one last thing on that, because the Packers are
your hometown team. You grew up a Packers fan, and
I don't want to go with the cliche.

Speaker 4 (20:11):
Did this mean more.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
But honestly, that was one of the first things I
thought of afterwards, was like, got Lee, Man, this is
Shelby's hometown team that he just beat.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
When it was it was like.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
A seven and a half point line on the game,
it's in Cleveland. I mean, how did they feel?

Speaker 1 (20:25):
Man?

Speaker 5 (20:26):
I will say it did meanmore. You are not wrong
about that. To beat the Packers and for to be
off of BMAC like that. You dude, that's a double
whamman right that. I kind of just made it any
more stuff to this because it's like an opportunity just
because you know, playing in Denver, playing in Seattle, playing
in Cleveland, you know, the people back home and Milnkee

(20:47):
don't always get those games, and so you know, obviously
I'm in the league, but like not everybody comes back
home get to watch the play. So then for a
game for you know, everyone back home watching me play
and to have a good game and then to go
blocked the kid, to change the game, change the type
of game. You know, that's special for me just because
you know, just it's a way of back home also

(21:11):
being able to have the last laugh too.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Playing against your former teammates always tough and there's a
little gamesmanship. I mean, you're talking about the fact that
blocking it because it was against Brendan mcmannus. Did you
go over to him after the game to just kind of,
you know, shake his hand and pat him on the back.

Speaker 5 (21:29):
Well, actually, I went to him pre games and I
was like, you know, I got to get one off you.
I went to a pre game. I was like, I
gotta get one off you. You know, it's time. You know,
I don't every I don't get many opportunities to play
d MAC, so whenever I do, I got to take
advantage of that. And you know, I told him that

(21:49):
ball is going on the mantle. But the game, you know,
you know, I'm patty. I went straight looking for BMX,
went straight looking for Bmack, like where's the back gut?
And I had to kind of give them that SIDEI
any kind of just you know, I mean, it's it's
all a good funny. I'll say, I want you to
be as sssful as possible, you know, every other game

(22:10):
of the year. But when he when he comes to Cleveland,
we got to go out there and secure the dove.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Well, Shelby, We're obviously very happy for you, happy that
that was such a big win against the team that
you grew up playing against or or wanting to I
guess rooting for. That's more of what anything you got
the Lions this week though, Man, we just watched them
play last night.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
They look pretty tough.

Speaker 5 (22:31):
Yeah, and I looked tough that run game. Yeah, you
know what what they were able to do to Baltimore
in the ground, being able to run the ball and
and really the variations of rimes are very you know,
the difference in runs that they do with David Montgomery
compared to Junior Gibbs. You know, you get more of
the power power runs in Montgomery, you get the more
side side stuff gives. Really like how they try to

(22:52):
keep people balanced to run game and play action. And
then their defense, you know, they just bought in make
plays when when they need to pusing aboard Fumbard, Derrick
Henry and a big in a big fight like That's
that's what the Detroit lines I've really become, and so
half the team that you have to worry about four
quarters and play them all four quarters.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
I remember, you guys got a pretty good run game
there with quin Shawn Juggins making his debut that was
pretty cool.

Speaker 5 (23:17):
Yeah, you know, he's then started. We are a couple
of injuries on the whole line, and it didn't seem
like it really thanks to him too much, and late
in the game they were able to get games going
and really make a difference. So that's what, you know,
the best part about is everything seems like it's finally
coming together. And I'll take French time working around her
and cancer, he finally kind of you know, getting that

(23:39):
understanding of the offense and and and being able to
gel right in with the guys. So that's that's the
cool part about this whole team. And you know, obviously
we have a tough opponent going to going to Detroit,
and you know, we got to carry this momentum and
take it to Detroit.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Hey, Joe, do you.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
Guys think about the fact that Jarrett Golf's sacks on
the season forced they gave up the officeve line to
gains SCREENBA Packers.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
Since then, they haven't given up any sex.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
I mean, what do you guys talk about as far
as breaking that kind of trend in the streak that
the Detroit Lions offensive line has thus far, Well, if.

Speaker 5 (24:15):
You if you stop the run, they got to go
the ball and if they go to the ball, and
that's the opportunity for us against Sax. So our first
and you know, our first and foremost thing that we're
most worried about. We got to go out there and
shop and run. This is this is a run dominant team.
They have a great run game. So we got out
there and stop the run and then after that then
the tax will come. You know, it's not many teams
have forced Detroit in these thirdd lons and in these

(24:38):
you know, come from behind our situations, and so that
that's always the goal when you're playing a run first
team is to put them behind the sticks.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
We got about four texts in a row saying best
hands in the league, baby, So.

Speaker 5 (24:53):
You already know I'll talk about then ap I got
off the fields like the hands of the league. I
didn't think I have to remind.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
Y'all incredible man. Well, hey, keep breaking hearts. We're rooting
for you obviously this week. Appreciate the time as always.

Speaker 5 (25:09):
Man.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
We'll check in with the next Tuesday.

Speaker 5 (25:11):
Well, I appreciate you, guys, man, and hopefully next week
thanks are different for you to broncos Man. See something
that's happening, and I have faith that they're going to
turn it around.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
I we we appreciate that. You know, it's it's tough
after a loss.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
It's tough after a couple of gut wrenching losses, especially
last second field goals that the Broncos could not block
because we don't have Shelby Harris. So I mean, that's
that's just that's just the reality we live.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
In right now.

Speaker 5 (25:36):
I got both character for later in the season, though,
I know the fans and everybody's kind of down right
now with those type of games right now. Well, will
really help the team out later in the year when
it comes to those close, gritty games.

Speaker 4 (25:48):
I agree with you, my friend. All right, appreciate you.
We'll chat with you next week.

Speaker 5 (25:53):
Letter.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
All right, Shelby Harris, good witty in that. A little
bit of encouragement there from a defensive lineman in the NFL, right.

Speaker 3 (25:59):
Now, that was funny. He got on a DV because
the DV did score.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
So he's more athletic.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
He would have scored.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
Man, come home, man.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
I know I looked right at you, like, hey, man,
the company's calling out your your position group, you.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Know, Yeah, he called out the position group. You're not
calling out me specifically, so there's a difference.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
But you know what, that goes back to the kind
of back and forth that.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
It takes place in the locker room that builds that
solid chemistry where you can go back at your guy
when something happens in the game, and and and things
are not always going to be perfect, but being able
to hold.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
That over a guy's head is very interesting.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
But you get to do it in a win. Right,
if he didn't lost that game, you're not teasing, you know,
like he's not WANs to do that, and he's right though.
The Broncos. For a second, we're at rod Smith joined
us at the top of the r There is something
about building callouses and also something about being tested, and

(26:58):
you know, of course you'd love to be you know,
that would be phenomenal and be the toast of the town,
right the toast of the NFL, like the Chargers are
right now. I know, Broncoss like that. I'm not saying
that I'd prefer to be where we're at, but you
do want to see the response to it.

Speaker 4 (27:14):
Some teams when they get out to.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
A hot start, and the Broncos have been here before,
but they were six and know what Josh McDaniels for example, Right,
they ended up not doing well the rest of the season, Right,
they ended up I think, but the losing record I
remember correctly.

Speaker 4 (27:25):
But the point of it is.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Getting out to a hot star doesn't guarantee you anything.
It really doesn't.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
And you like to bank the wins.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
But more than anything, if you're a resilient team, or
you're the team that your coach was talking about you
as a team that can contend for things, well, now
you're an opportunity to respond to that, don't you.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
Yeah, you do, you do?

Speaker 4 (27:47):
Oh wait, what are you doing?

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Oh my phone?

Speaker 4 (27:50):
Yeah reacted, but no, in.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
That type of situation, that's what you want to do.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
That's the thing that's great about having a long seat,
but also stumbling at the very beginning is the fact
that you can make up for so many different things,
and at the beginning of the season all your flaws
start to show. Because here's what we know. Even in
the Cleveland game of Green Bay Packers, both teams have
some things that they need to work on. But the

(28:18):
one thing that's the perfect deodorant for losing is to win.
And sometimes when you keep winning, those flaws contend to
be hidden. Thinking about the Kansas City Chiefs, like everyone
was talking about all this is the luckiest team where
they know how to close our games. But unbeknownst to
everyone else, we were seeing flaws that were not showing
up before and now we're seeing them big time, losing

(28:40):
certain players. So to me, you asked the question like,
would you rather lose now to set you up for
a run later on? I would rather lose now because
now that bill's callous.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
Now you know what you need to do. And in
the case of the Denver Broncos, they just need to finish.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Right to that point, not trying to create unnecessary hopium here,
but to that point. You the problems that the Broncos
had over these last two games and even i'd say
even last three games, right, those are things that we
would still have to talk about even if they won.
But oftentimes is the case, when you win, it gets
kind of buried, right the issues that are surrounding your team.

(29:21):
You know, the Broncos had ten penalties for ninety yards.
They still had a chance to win that game. Even
with all those penalties. They did win the turnover battle,
but they only had nine first downs, they still had
a chance to win the game and only had nine
first downs.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
It's more under allowing twenty nine.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
I mean, you're talking about the balance of time of
possession is significant in this game. So all those things
would have existed and you still could have won the game.
But we oftentimes bury a lot of that because what
we say is now, but you found a way to win.
That's a gutsy way to win, right, And just like
the Browns beating the Packers, the Packers were the better team,
and I don't mean any offense by that to the Browns.

(29:56):
I do agree with Shelby's point about how the balance
of power actually tends to be a lot clear mooser
than people will say. But in the end, the Packers
are probably going to go pretty far this year. I
don't know what the Browns are going to do, but
most people don't expect them to go all that far.
Point of it is, we would have buried a lot
of these things. Maybe the team would have buried some
of these things because hey, you won. Why are we

(30:17):
complaining about a win? Why are coming why are we
talking about all the negatives that came out of this win?
And so now those things get thrust into the light
because they have to be and now you get a
chance to work on them and to fine tune who
you are and what you want to be as you're
getting ready to hit the media schedule.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
And that's what usually the head coach is thinking when
he's at the podium, and that's where you get the
division and the fan base. When someone was saying, well,
we won the game, so why are we complaining? Yeah,
we won the game, but look how we won the game.
We made the game more tougher than it actually needed
to be. In the game against the Colts, the game

(30:56):
against the Chargers. There are all opportunities for the Bronc
to win both of those games. And here's a bright
spot if you want to look at it. How many
points did you actually give up defensively and surrender? But
then the opposite side to that is how many points
did you actually score? Right, this is what we're talking about.
You have to score points and you have to stop

(31:18):
the other team. Like last night watching the game between
the Lions and the Baltimore Ravens. That was old throw
school throwback football, old school throwback football. They ran the
ball in Detroit with John Morton, who was here with
the Broncos as an assistant coach.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
They read it against a team.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
That teams mostly don't have success against, so they took
the pressure off for Jared Golfer said, well, we're gonna
lean on our two running backs. We're gonna let them
handle all the dirty work. We're gonna allow them to
punch it, punt, punk, punish. Excuse me, let me give
it Worries right, punish the Baltimore Ravens team. And that's
exactly what they did. Now, if you were to tell
me that the Broncos could not do the same thing,

(31:58):
I would tell you you're lying. They have the personnel
to do that same thing, but they have not established
their true identity to this point. Unless you want to
tell me something different, well, they haven't established the identity.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
I think they are better at running back than they
were last year, which is not I would agree, But
Jamier Gibbs and David Montgomery might be the best one
two in the game.

Speaker 4 (32:21):
JK. Dobbins and Argie Harvey aren't there yet.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
No, they're not.

Speaker 1 (32:24):
But the whole idea is that you have guys who
who at the run of my position, who can give
you that production. You heard Garrett Boles like when I
asked him about JK.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
Dobbins. I mean, he was.

Speaker 1 (32:34):
Waxing enthusiastic about this guy. But the more carries that
you received, the stronger you get, and the more confidence
you build and play calling and the offensive line that
you can get that done.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
Baltimore is in kind of a bad way here. I
mean not even just because they're one and three, but sorry,
one and two, two hundred and twenty four rushing yards.

Speaker 4 (32:54):
Now, I know seventy two.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
Of that came on one run from David Montgomery, so
that's a lot right there. But but Detroit, who wants
to run the ball, they have a lot of pass
catching options that they want to run the ball first
and foremost, they were able to do whatever they wanted.
And Baltimore's had some I mean, they've had some tough
matchups early on here for low. You know, it's a

(33:16):
really unique thing about the schedule, and they're talking about
a bit last night, and when we have Rod Smith
on it, this kind of bears repeating. Do you realize
Baltimore one and two, the Chiefs one and two they
play each other this week? One of those teams is
gonna be one and three after the first four games
of the season.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
I think it's going to be the Chiefs.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
I think it's gonna be the Chiefs two. And that's
not something that I had on my Bingo card. I
know about you.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
No one had it on the Bengo card. But the
whole idea is offensively, how dynamic can you be? Can
you beat a team in a multitude of different ways?
And this is why I don't subscribe to this whole
idea that you put everything on the shoulders of the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
I know that's how the league is built. Everything is
about the quarterback.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
I'm like, no, he's only a part part of the puzzle.
He's not the whole freaking puzzle.
