Speaker 1 (00:00):
Dave's not here as the drop and say, oh the way, Grant,
when you were out a couple I think last week
we had a listener that texted that in about I
don't know thirty times, yeah, thirty times like Dave's not here,
and then thought I was somehow responsible for playing that.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
But no, it's Grant Smith. Grant Smith had there. It is. Yeah,
So for the listener, for the listener, and they might
have already turned the radio walk anyways, nothing I can
do about that.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
But for that listener that wanted to hear the Dave's
not here drop. There you go, Benjamin Albrighton and study
with me Hidan present.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
We're gonna have Zach Allen in just a matter of moments.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Look forward to chatting with the Broncos starting defensive lineman
and see how they feel about.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Monday Night football coming up against Cincinnati Bengals. We'll talk
about the Bengals quite a bit today.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Sean Payton, bow Nicks, Corland Sudden, Paser Tan, They're all
talking out at Bronco's practice.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Looks like Evan Ingram was back at practice today. This
has been a fun week to get things going with
Evan Ingram. Ben just throwing it out there, wouldn't it though,
Just just saying out sometimes you win this business.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
We're supposed to talk for a living. Some people don't
say what's actually on their mind. I tend to try.
And one of my first things that I saw when
I saw that Evan your ingram was back in practice, was.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Like, you know what, as they said in The Lion King,
it is time? Okay? Is that what they said in
the Lion King? I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Yeah, as they said in the Jungle Book, there can
be only one no it does.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
You remember what Rafiki's like, it is time?

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Oh yeah, okay, I'm like, I don't right, that's man,
that's a poll. Come on, I've seen The Lion King. Well,
I don't know how long it's vinces. You see the
Lion King.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I have kids.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
I saw the original cartoon back in the day. The
remake wasn't I didn't see that, Like I couldn't. You
didn't miss anything, Okay, is all right? The cartoon is great, though. Yeah,
it's weird when you're a single guy in your forties
and you're showing up the kids movies by yourself, Like
that's that's a weird thing.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
So I don't do that.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
You you probably can't. But if it's critically a claimed film, right,
I'm just saying for their reason I can't go to
the park during the daytime, Well, don't make it weird.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
I not making it weird. Other people have made it weird.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
This is a great way to enter our next house'
like what we get talking about the Lion King? All right,
so we're gonna head it right out to the KWA
Comma Spirit Health hotline and bring on Broncos starting defensive lineman,
Zach Allen. Zach, you're on with Ryan Ewards, bitch of
beIN Allbright. Thank you for the time, my friend.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
How are you? We're doing great?

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Uh, We're obviously very excited about this game coming up
on Monday night football.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
How excited are you to be back home playing in
front of these fans, especially in a primetime game.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Yeah, obviously playing in front of you know, our home
crowd helps us so much. They're awesome. And to do
it in a primetime game and an asc you know,
a conference game is going to be you know, super excited.
So really hummed up about it and can't wait for Monday?

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Is there anything two? Not having Joe Burrow back there.
You know, you got Jake Browning back. There is there
is there is there more of a if it was
Burrows are more of an exciting to get up and
go get after Joe Burrow or is it more like, hey,
you know they they've got a lesser quarterback back there.
We're gonna we're just really gonna tee off on this guy,
show him what this Broncos defense is all about.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
I mean, Jake's ahell of a quarterback. You know, he's
won a lot of games in this league. You know, obviously,
Joe's had a couple of injuries, so he's you know,
played a good amount of football and he's done really
well in those games. So it's, uh, you know, he
presents a lot of issues and you know he's he's
been a great player at you know, every level, high school,
college in the NFL. So you know, we just got
to treat him the same. And you know, they got

(03:34):
awesome weapons on the outside and a really good running
back and you know they're big upfront, so it's gonna be, uh,
you know, a good matchup and we're saying for it.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
I know it was not quite a year ago that
you played this team, but as far as games played
in between, it's it's relatively close. How different does a
team change or how much does a team change if
it's been basically like four games since you played them last,
even if it was a year ago.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Yeah, I mean I think, you know, obviously there's similarities.
You know, it helps. I think the big thing that
helps is it's the same you know, coordinator and play
caller and everything like that, so you know, you have
a little bit more tape to watch. But you know,
people change. You know, they had a whole off season
to you know, kind of sell scout and everything, so
they are doing a couple of little different things. But uh, yeah,

(04:23):
they do a lot of things well, So it's, uh,
it's gonna be a challenge.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
You know, this off season, you made the NFL's Top
one hundred as voted on by your peers.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Is there anything you know.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
More special about that that you're getting recognized by your
peers and all that, or is that just some of
that off season filler stuff and you just just kind
of put it behind you.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
Yeah. I think it's you know, it's definitely an honor
to to you know, make the list for the first time,
and you know, obviously you know you want to you know,
be higher on it and things like that. So yeah,
I mean it all the only thing that really matters
is the work. And you know, if you do a
good job, take care of your process, everything like that,
you know, have team success. You know, usually the individual

(05:02):
honors come. So you know, I just got to keep
it up and you know, get some wins and yeah,
I think you'll see even more guys on that list.
So it's, uh, it's a fun group to be a
part of.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Here, Zach Allen joining us here. You guys are once
again lead the league in sacks. This is something that
this team obviously did last year with sixty three your
three games into the season so far. I know there's
a lot of returning people, but it doesn't ever guarantee success.
Why do you think that this defense and especially you
guys up front, who are able to sort of sustain

(05:35):
that coming off of what you did last year into
the beginning of this year.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
Yeah, I think, you know, we just have really good
chemistry up front. You know, we got a lot of
guys who you know at cam Rush. You know, it's
not just you know, like us for upfront you know, obviously,
you know it's really it's like an eight man deep
group so across the board, so it's a it's a
really fun group, and it's selfish groups. So you know,

(06:02):
if guys have a tough matchup or getting doubled, you know,
they'll they'll eat that, and that leaves other guys open
and everybody in the group prize themselves on winning one
on ones and you know, making plays and stuff like that.
So yeah, guys are just we're just rushing together and
having fun doing it. And you know, also the coverage
has been awesome and giving us that extra you know,

(06:24):
quarter of a second that we need. So hopefully we
could just keep it up this year.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Last one I have for you. Appreciate the time, Zach.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
So, of course, a couple of kind of a heartbreaker
losses and you got this opportunity to kind of get
back here in the win column.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Closing out games.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
How much of that has been a discussion for you
guys inside the locker room or is it simply we
just got to continue with the process because these are
both really close games in the end.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Yeah, I mean, there's obviously a lot to fix, but
there's also a lot of good, you know, if you're
in those positions against two really good teams. So yeah,
like up like penalties, like we could obviously be way
better with penalties and stuff like that. So you know,
there are active conversations about it. But at the same
time too, you know, you know, we're we're doing some
good things, so we don't want to completely kind of

(07:13):
change course. But it's a really good group that uh,
you know kind of you know, self aware and looks
at it is always trying to improve. So yeah, it's
been really positive conversations and you know, I'm sure you know.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
We'll get that, right, Zach, really appreciate the time, man,
Best of luck on Monday. Awesome, Thank you guys, all right,
thank you.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
Zach Allen, Broncos defensive lineman. Brought to you by col
Radden's for Responsible Energy Development, Developing Colorado's energy, building Colorado's future.
Learn more at cred dot org go to see r
ed dot org. You didn't even sneak in a Madden
question about something players out or not play yourself, you know.
The only thing I wanted to ask him was I
think we all saw the Aaron Glenn sideline dance after

(07:54):
the block field goal. Oh my gosh, I need to
know from Zach who he thinks on that coaching. He's
the best dancer after a big play, so we know
who to focus on.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
That's what the fans want to know. Is that really
what they wanted to know? It is?

Speaker 3 (08:08):
It is they could tell us in the text line Okay, fine,
then you know they're gonna flood you now with.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
If this is what people really want to know, they
want to.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Know which coach is the most creative dancer. I need
to know this kind of information.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
I mean, you come off with a couple of heart wrenching.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Losses and I'm asking about how the Joseph knows the
choreography to beat it. On the side note, it would
have been really funny if that was The response is like,
I tell you what, VJ.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
I'm just gonna let you know.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
Whole thriller for the Talent Show this offseason. When we
did it for the Rookie Talent Show, VJ came out
through the whole thing to thriller. That would have been
pretty funny. That would be funny, but also be funny
if it was there busy, but you know whatever, why.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Would it be funny?

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Why why would it be funny if the horse voice,
you know, how does that go? It'll be way funny
if it was Darren Rizzy. We'll get an interview with
Zach Allen up at Koaclorado dot com. We invite you
to subscribe to the podcast on the completely free and
totally Austome my Heart Radio app. All Right, so we
were talking about Evan Ingram and I do want to

(09:16):
spend some time talking about that. We'll hear from Sean
Payton here in just a matter of moments, as well
as bone Nicks. But the offense, because Shaw was asked
about it, like are there easy plays for this offense?
Isn't that quite Literally, what Evan inger was brought in
here to do was to give you an easy button.
Remember I talk I mean I talked about it a ton,
Like as soon as we got to the end of
the season, I was like, this offense doesn't have.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Anything that is easy about it.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
There's nothing that they do that there's a moment when
you gotta have it and there's a player or a
play that just happens. And honestly, I thought about it
when I was watching Jayden and Daniels throwing it to
zach Ertz in the end zone. I'm like, that's easy.
He's there every time. You could quite literally drop whatever
you want. Just do an option. Hey, zach run an
option route. Hey, guess what everybody else can do something.

(10:03):
Zach Ertz run an option route. Boom, Hey, if it's zoned,
do this, if it's man, do this touchdown. And I
was like, we need that, The Broncos need that. So
then they signed having.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Ingram and you know he's been hurt, so maybe that's
part of it.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
J K.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
Dobbens I also think to do some of these things,
but we're not using hip either. So so Ben, where
is it?

Speaker 2 (10:26):
What happened?

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Where?

Speaker 2 (10:27):
I mean three weeks sad? But where is the easy button?

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Well, this offense as designed, if you go back and
look at it, historically, the easy button should be the slant.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Where is that in this offense? Right?

Speaker 3 (10:38):
The Michael Thomas or or Marcus Colson slant was the
easy button for the Sean Payton offense.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Right.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
You know, I don't know this offense doesn't have a
lot of drag routes built into it.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
I'd love to see some more of that, you know,
coming off.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
The bunch there I'd love to see some you know,
crawl the warrior king out there, you know, using the
big body running, some running, some drag routes like that.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
Crawl the wor huh, you're welcome for the that's nice
for the movie. Yeah, you know, I'm just saying that.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
That's a pole also briefly referenced in How to Lose
a Guy in Ten Days.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
So you know, we just watched that the O of
the day.

Speaker 5 (11:07):
You're welcome, but I can't tell you why, uh huh
uh huh at all. Keep going, But no, I'd love
to see some stuff like that, just a pitch and
catch type stuff that's its easy throws to put the
ball in your receiver's hands and let them create instead
of a lot of this stuff that they do that
it takes a minute to develop or they're trying to find.

(11:29):
If Bose, you know, needs to get rid of it quick,
then let's find some quick developing stuff that we can
just do to get the ball out of his hands
and into their hands and let him create and don't
make it curls and comebacks and hitches and whatnot that
are stopping the receiver's momentum and then forcing them to
gear back up in order to get additional yardage.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
After the catch.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Let's let's run some drags, Let's run some slants and
see if the natural momentum of the receiver can pick
up extra yardage. I just got called wet blanket Edwards
because the text line is destroying you right now for
not wanting to know which coach can dance. Well, well, okay, fairness,
just destroying.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
I'll tell people I see it for a second, all right,
and you tell me, you tell me what you would
do with this information.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
So I asked, my last question is Zach Ben?

Speaker 1 (12:08):
And I shot up on Mike's for a second, and
Ben says, I've got one more, but it's dumb.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Do you want me to ask it now?

Speaker 1 (12:13):
You tell me, knowing that information and knowing who I'm
talking to, who's worried a white undershirt and a backwards
hat in the studio, what you would do with that information?

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Necessly, do you let a reping you right now?

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Much like the fourth and a half a yard against
the Chargers that should have been one hundred percent go,
You're like, I've got a wild card here, I'm playing it.
We're doing a U know reverse on this interview, and
it'd be like eight percent. But whatever you got an
eight percent, go eight percent was the win probability change
there if the Broncos would have gone for it. You know,

(12:46):
I'm telling you. I'm telling you somebody did the mathing correctly. Okay, Well, anyways,
it doesn't matter. The point of it is is you
people tell me. Everybody crushing me?

Speaker 2 (12:54):
He says. I agree with Ben. I want to know.
I don't want to know. I need to know. He
always knows what the public wants.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
I mean, okay, if Ben blanket all right here, don't
even try.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
We all know better. He says, I got some I
got I got something dumb.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Do you want me to ask it? That could be felicious?
I mean, the entire ocean opens up in my brain.
Are we going to get fired for what?

Speaker 2 (13:23):
He asks?

Speaker 4 (13:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (13:24):
And then I ever steered us wrong before? Please please
name ten times you really well some of them.

Speaker 6 (13:36):
I can't actually say this notebook, the note pad on
my phone stuff full. Oh my goodness. Yeah, that was
going through my brain. I was like, this is the thing.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
And then Ben would say after we were called into
the office, and then at the break well, Ben Ryan.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Said, of go for it. Ryan told me to go
for it. I don't know what you're talking about. Ryan
gave me two thumbs up. He was Cisco and.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Oh my gosh. Anyways, yeah, the text slide. Listen, you
guys can comrade with flannel.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
I don't wear flannel right now. Too is fall weather.
It's in the seventies. This is I'm gonna t shirt shorts.
Give it. You slept in that last night. I really
didn't that, really didn't you? Actually you're about to.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Wait.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
I love having flashed in your eyes recognizably, like, oh,
he's baiting me right now.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
So you got out of bed and you were like,
you know what I'm gonna wear today.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
I'm gonna put on a white undershirt, shorts and this
backwards had and I'm gonna roll in to a professional workplace.
They say loose.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
Professional is such a loose term you.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
This is like the this was a choice you made.
I thought I thought it was like you kind of rolled.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
In here on accident. Yeah, I didn't stop you.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
I threw this on. I almost pissed.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Somebody said they had mad respects for the lion king
deep pult that it was. Yeah, it took me a minute.
Because I was like, wow, that was how long it's
been such I mean, obviously everybody remembers you know and
all that, but who doesn't remember who remembers that?

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Well, it's a very popular gift.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
I thought you were being ironical and you were putting
a you know, a quote from another movie into the
Lion King Nick scardbou Foster facing facing off, and it
could be only one was that vaguely, jeffanie I was
trying to do Christopher Lamby. Christper Labort sucks. Christper Lambert
is pretty bad.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
It's terrible.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Maybe that's why you were such a big Adrian whatever's
name is.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
Yeah, maybe that's why I remember the actress name well,
because he's so Ponytails glorious, forgetful. The single handedly made
Ponytails in the nineties popular. The TV show was pretty awful.
I don't get out of here.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
It's the truth. You may not want to admit it
yourself again, dressed like the way you are, but I
wait for the Henry Cavill highlander. I'll just leave it
at that.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Well, that will be phenomenal. But but the Cavaline m
HM as we appropriately call him, treat you so much better.
Than down the road.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
He uh, he.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Was great as a witcher, and so I now good
and everything. I now believe he has the range to
play anything.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
He's good in it, and you know whatever.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
He's not the world's greatest actor, but he's good in
everything he is. We are way off top did how
did this is? Like three twenty? How did we get here?
I know there can be only one. They're gonna be
the only one.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
There can be only one. See it does sound kind
of like that. I like the explosion of the back.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
It's correct.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Uh, here's John Payton talking about JK. Dobbins.

Speaker 3 (16:44):
So this is kind of bringing me my point, like like, hey,
if it's not going to be having Ingram, why can
it not be JK.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Dobbins.

Speaker 7 (16:49):
I said this I think earlier. Sometimes when you sign
a free agent, you kind of know what you're getting
with the runner. But all the other things that came
were a bonus. And he is explosive, he's decisive, he's
down on hill, he's powerful, he's got good balance. So
he's been a good addition and a real good addition
for us.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
Give him the ball top ten running back of the league.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
By just trying to say there are There are fast
as this offense that probably get more hate than they deserve,
but they're certainly underutilized. Elements like JK. Dobbins, and I
think everybody with eyes can can tell you that.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
So you brought him in here. R J. Harvey hasn't
quite popped. He will.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
I'm not done with RJ. Harvey, But JK. Dobbins is
better now. He is better now, and you can win games.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
That's what I'm saying. You can't literally riding on his
back now.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
You don't want to ride him in the ground. You know,
you don't need to be given him thirty touches a
game at this point. I don't I mean between touches
and targets, I mean twenty.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
I'm not mad at it. Let him do the Alba.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Kamara thing, put some put some some choice.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Routes out there for him.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
We kind of literally might if we come to the
end of this Cincinnati game and he has another eleven
carries or something to that effect. I mean, the Broncos
might find a way to win that game because of
worse since the NAT he's at.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
But it's gonna be disappointment. It just is.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
Yeah, yeah, you've got I mean, he's a top ten
running back by yardage. I think he has the lowest
number of carries in that top ten as well, maybe
the second most, but he's close. He's got like forty
carries through three games. Like, dude, give him the ball.
I mean even Jordan Mason got sixteen carries this last week. Yeah,
and that was a game with it. They didn't even
need to do much to win. I mean it was

(18:25):
funny because I was talking to Rick Lose yesterday and
he's like, hey, do you think Carson Wentz might stick
as the starter. I'm like, they didn't need a lot
from Carson Wentz in this game. You go back and
watch the game, Carson Wentz did not look great. I'm
not going to try to paint a picture where Carson Wentz,
who only threw twenty passes right in the entirety of
the game, looked tremendous. It was because of the Vikings
defense that this became a laugher.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
No, this is the BJ Armstrong question, right, This is
you know Carson Wentz to BJ a Ris truck. No, no, buddy,
it's Jordan Cook coach and Pippen. BJ had a good game.
You got him through so Jordan Ko Coach and Pippleks.
So we will dive a little deeper on the Bengals today.
We'll spend some time. Ben got some intel that he

(19:07):
dropped like very late on the show yesterday. We'll bring
that back in case you missed it. I don't know
if those coaches delusional or what, man, but yeah, that
was fascinating conversations.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
We'll get to that. We're here for Sean Payn We're
gonna he from boat. Next. We have Tim Jenkins join
us at four, so I want to check in with Tim.
You're wearing the hat we might you know, we got
it as well. I gotta check out with Tim. But
the footwork stuff, the mechanics, you know, we can get
into the Sean.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
Talked about his mechanics today. He talked about to the
deep throws. Something really interesting to say on the deep throws.
I want to get your reaction to when we come
back here. So Benjamin, all right, Ryan Ever's off and
roll here on KO Sports.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
We'll get to that next.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Again.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
Get that interview up a Kocolorado dot com or check
it out on the completely free and totally Awesome I
Heart Radio app five sixx hine zeros or Kwa coma
spirital text line, if you want to interact with us. Yeah,
now now that everybody's killing me, so yes, it would
have been fun to hear what Zach Allen has say
about that, But we missed it. And part of that
is because Ben didn't just say what he wanted to say.

(20:05):
I actually put this on Ben.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Who knows.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Maybe Jim Leonard is like an all time dancer. Gee,
I can see it. Who knows, might have been Sean Payton,
who knows.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
I think we all know.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
Maybe we'll hear from Tim Jenkins coming up here at
the top of the hour, get his thoughts on the
footwork the mechanics of Bonnicks.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
But here was Sean when he was asked about bone
Nick's overthrows in the game.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
It's just been a big subject here in Denver over
the last several days.

Speaker 7 (20:35):
Yeah, you got to be careful, like when they're just
off the fingertips, you know, you're always looking at your
technique within the pocket. You know one of them is
a fleet flicker. And we had seen in third and
Long when you run a draw there was a big
collapse of the defense and so sure enough, no, I
think that. You know, you keep firing. You know, if

(20:56):
it was something different. You know a lot of times
maybe crossing routes to the left, if they're not mechanically
opening up their hips. You know, you can be behind receiver.
There's certain things. But when it comes to the only
thing I would say is like Sutton's is a little
bit of a double move. You know, it was a
scene go and so you know, guys sometimes aren't at

(21:19):
top speed like your mind sees them.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
But just keep firing.

Speaker 7 (21:24):
You know he's gonna hit plenty of those.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Okay, keep firing.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
Here's what Sean said what he was asked if he's
happy with Bonix's mechanics.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (21:33):
I mean, look there's times I'm sure when we sit
and watch the tape, but one of the things that's
a gift is his off schedule throw. So you just
want to be careful how much you tell them. I
think part of it is when you when you settle
into certain plays, there's a rhythm to you know, the mechanics,
whether it's three five or play action. But overall, I

(21:57):
think it's coming out well. You know, the key is
one of his great strengths is he doesn't take a
lot of sacks. He's quick through a progression and but
I think you'll you'll start seeing that.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
So I want you to put on your NFL insider
hat for a second here, all right, what is the
discussion about Bononix nationally?

Speaker 5 (22:18):
Like?

Speaker 3 (22:18):
What are they saying about him around the league? In
his mechanics specifically, Jeffrey Simmons spelled it out, and we
didn't want to believe it when he said it, but
there was a reason that you know that he said it.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
Bo's got happy feet a little bit.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
He gets up on his tiptoes when you when the
when the pocket gets washed around him, he either gets
a little jittery or he looks to take off, and
that's that's the knock on him. Uh, similar to early
on in his career a quarterback named Derek Carr. You know,
these are things that you can you can change and
there are things that you can work on. And as

(22:50):
the game slows down for Bow, you hope that that
will as he gets more repped and the game slows down,
you hope that that will kind of I don't want
to say fix itself, but.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
Sort of in a way that nervous alarm clock in
your head.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
You know, you start to see things, not necessarily in
matrix bullet time, but you know you start to see
things a little bit easier. So and that comes with time,
so you'll hope that's the case. But right now, yeah,
I mean the thing on bo Nix is, here's what
we're gonna do.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
We're gonna try and get pressure. We're gonna try it.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
You know, the tackles are good, so we're gonna try
and get it up the up the middle.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
We're gonna move him off his spot, muddy his feet, and.

Speaker 3 (23:21):
We're gonna pressure him into either making an off target,
throwing the ball sales on him, or we're gonna try
and get him moving and get him on the move.
And that's what teams have done. I thought he was
better last year as the season went on to us
and maybe the game slowed down for him as the
season went along. Maybe he's just you know, there was
somebody put out of theory today that maybe up against
that defense in practice has got his clock wound so tight.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
It could be you know, maybe this is like I will.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
Tell you of all the games to have a get
right defense, the Cincinnati Bengals who don't pressure anybody and
don't stop the run very well.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
I mean that you don't never want to look at
something as a gumma. But that's kind of what this is. Well,
and I thought the same.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
Thing, and I kind of referenced it yesterday with Rick.
The problem with that is becomes the expectation.

Speaker 4 (24:07):
Right.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
We talk about get right games, Well, that's more of
a fan thing, I think than a player thing. Like
maybe internally they will say like, hey, if we can't
score a lot of points against this defense, then we've
got some problems. But there is a certain amount of
that where you go like, oh, there's absolutely some of
that in ad locker room.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
They'll say at the podium that there isn't they'll say
on the phone with the Thursday, but there absolutely is.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Right, So so in that vein, and.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
I don't want to hold them to that standard because
if they don't all of a sudden go nuts against
the Bengals.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Defense, what does that mean?

Speaker 3 (24:36):
Well, that means you didn't put up what you should
have against that defense. And now we need to examine why.
I'm okay with's that in the standard? High if you
missed the standard that we need to figure out why
we missed the standard well, and you could be missing
the standard because it's early in the season like we might.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
And this is what I don't want to see. But
we don't know. Because this is only our second year
with bon Nicks. This might be how he starts seasons.
You know, there are certain We talked about Sean Payton's
record in September versus October, and he was asked about
that today.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
I'll play that in a second.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
But his record, he's you know, he's like a five
hundred coach in September, but he's like a seven fifty,
like he's he's incredible, He's one of the best of
all time in October.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
There's something about the consistency of knowing that about Sean,
even if you'd like to be different one year, he's
just not right. I mean, you're a five hundred coach
in September, and he looks like if he wins this game,
he's gonna be five hundred again in September. So he's
five hundred right now as the Broncos head coach. Is
it possible, right, That's another thing. Is it possible that

(25:38):
we are looking at bo Nicks just needing a few
games to tune up every year, like going forward for
what he's going to be. And I'm not saying because
we don't know until next year, we don't know really
a pattern, but I'm saying right now, I remember the
first four games and happy feat was basically the entire
discussion of when is he going to stop doing this?
And it was somewhere in October. And maybe it's also

(26:00):
coinciding simultaneously with Sean Payton pairing down some things and
simplifying some processes for him, so it all could be
kind of working in concerts. But I'm saying, like, right now,
he looks overwhelmed. And the things I'm hearing from a
lot of the national podcasts and a lot of the
punnits out there is he looks overwhelmed. I don't know
if Yeah, I don't know if overwhelmed is the right word.

(26:20):
I get where they're coming from. I just think the
game looks a little too fast for I take too
fast for him again.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
I mean, we're putting down on it, right, but yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
I mean because I don't know that, Like, to me,
overwhelmed means like there's too much going on upstairs, and
I don't know that there's a lot.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
I don't know that it's that he's thinking too much.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
It's just happening so fast, so we're probably coming at
it from opposite ends to the same problem there.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
But you got to disagree with.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
Me, no, I mean, it's just I don't think that
Sean Payton's offense is too much for Bonnicks. Like that's
to me, that's what what overwhelmed would mean, right, Like
I think more it's just like the amount of pressure
that the teams are getting right now, specifically between the tackles,
is fairly high, and you've been up against some pretty

(27:04):
fairly decent defenses to start the season. Tennessee Titans, for
whatever we think of them on offense, their defense is
not bad. For the Indianapolis Colts, their defense, even without
their their top pass rusher, was still pretty decent in
that game. And the Chargers, I mean, they've got a
top five defense in the league.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
So you've been up.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
Against some good defenses. Now you're going to get to
see a bad one. Like, I'm not trying to be
little anybody's defense in this league.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
The Bengals defense is bad. It just is.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
We can be honest about that. That doesn't mean that
they won't play. Well, that doesn't mean that the Broncos
won't strut whatever. But you're finally getting a defense that
on paper is bad. Yeah, twenty fifth in net yards
per game twenty sixth and points per game twenty fifth
and passing twenty second. In rushing, they don't pressure anybody,
and they don't stop the run twenty way. You want
third down percentage twenty first in red zone, You're right,
you're right there. It's not I mean, they don't have

(27:50):
the personnel to run what al Golt wants to run anyway,
Golden to parcels disciple, and he's got like that hybrid
viper position that they can dance a lot. The old
linebacker that can go in there and get up along
the line and all that kind of stuff. They just
don't have that they've got. They've got three guys on
that defense that are probably starters, maybe four that are
probably starters on another defenses. And the rest of these
guys are guys that are probably backups.

Speaker 1 (28:10):
Okay, but we'll continue to talk about that. We'll hear
more from Sean Payton.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
Yeah, he was asked today about his record in September
versus October he had some fun with that. Also, he
was asked at the very end about offensive identity and
when he thinks that might show.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
Up that what he's supposed to bring will do. We'll
hear from that coming up. I'm so glad.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
See I introduced my kids to Zulander. One of the
best things I ever did as a father. And listen,
I don't know if I'm a good father. And now
I try really hard, but I did introduce them to Zulander.
And now when they're doing their ballet turns, I'm like,
but are you an Ambi turner?

Speaker 2 (28:53):
But they love, like they appreciate. They're like my youngest
is like no, all he had to do was turn left.
So yeah.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
And if they're if they're getting a cough, like they're
actually really getting sick of like give the black lung,
They're like no, Anyways, I don't know if I'm a
good father, but I try really hard. And and again
I suggest you's as appropriate age introduce them to Zoolander.
Just any any movie in which Ben Stiller and Owen
Wilson or portrayed as the two handsomest men on earth.

(29:25):
They weren't portrayed that way in Starsky and Hutch No,
but they were like that was the whole premise of
the zoo.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
Like those two guys, I know, it's amazing, so hot
right now.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
Okay, So before we get to Tim Jenkins here at
the top of the hour, and we're gonna obviously ask
him a lot about b Nix. I saw the report
today that justin Fields, your guy, he's get ready to
retake his position as the starting quarterback in the New
York Jets.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
No, he had a practice today which is mandatory to
escape the practice in full, which is mandatory to escape
the concussion. You have to have a full part of
the new rules. You have to have a full practice
to escape the concussion protocol. So Ben and he might
be cleared after that. The Broncos are going to see
in a couple of weeks probably justin fields. Maybe, I

(30:14):
mean they're hoping, but you're given the choice of him
or to Rod Taylor.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
They're definitely hoping it's fields.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
But you and Zach Seegers have a thing rolling where
you were on the Russell Wilson hype train and.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
He was on the who have more wins? Who had
more touchdowns? Right now, if we sit here right now,
Are you a loord? Not even slightly? Are you gotta
be kidding me? Oh, Justin Fields is going to be
right back out there and winning games is done for
the season. They're going to have the same amount of wins.
You can't possibly believe that. I do.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
Feels nice, course, and I might lose the touchdowns bet
simply because Fields is out there and Wilson's isn't. But
the wins, there's no way the just stink Field stinks.
You realize you said Dart wins. Don't get you Russell
Wilson wins. Yes, okay, I'm not sure that Jackson Dart's
gonna be out there doing any better.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
Really, Yeah, that line is terrible. The Giants line is
so bad.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
Don't tell it's Rick Lewis. He's all in the camp
scataboo like MVP train. Yeah, and look at the year
train well, and when Russ was throwing the ball that
was the case. I don't know that Dart's gonna be
doing that. But you wait, you're like the one guy
watching Russ play that last game that was like, yeah,
this is better than I.

Speaker 2 (31:28):
Don't know that it's better or not.

Speaker 3 (31:29):
We haven't seen Jackson see that in the last series
was tas gives Russ doing bonehead Russ stuff.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
We saw it four doubt we've seen it before, throwing
out the back of the end. So we've seen it.
I've seen it before. I saw it here.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
You're still defending him. He's still better than people give
him credit for. And he's still he's he does dumb
stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (31:50):
You live by die by with Russ. It's one of
those things.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
It is a very high variance. You know, there are
moments that you're.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
Like, oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
There are moments like, oh my god, four hundred and
fifty yards and three touchdowns, yeah in the and then
you follow it up with you know, one hundred yards
and three interceptions, follow it up with that, and you're
just sitting there.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
Like, you gotta rust this unlimited. Yeah, you gotta be unlimited.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
There's an unlimited number of exasperation when it comes to
the Russell.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
Willis says he get traded. I don't think so.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
I mean, like the two there's two teams basically to
trade him too, and that's New Orleans and Cincinnati. If
I'm Cincinnati, I might consider it. If I'm Cincinnati would
consider it. New Orleans doesn't make sense the deepest well,
your bridge quarterback, you know, But Rattler, I mean you know,
I mean at this point, like that whole can we
be worse?

Speaker 2 (32:36):
Yeah, actually you could be.

Speaker 3 (32:38):
Well, I mean, if you're New Orleans, you're gunning for
the boy that's the Rattler might be just just good
enough to keep you from getting to the worst pick.
That's the problem there. But in that case you can
always go to Tybis Show. Cincinnati is the one that
after this game, you got to kind of okay, what
are we doing here?

Speaker 2 (32:54):
All right, we'll come back to him. Jenk's gonna join us.
