Speaker 1 (00:00):
Dave Logan, Ryan Edwards out of control? What's grinding your
gears today?
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Ben?
Speaker 3 (00:06):
I don't know, going full Andy Rooney on it.
Speaker 4 (00:08):
Yeah, there's a pumpkin spice salmon fil A's I'm not
I can't.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
You guys are out of control. Your eyebrows do look
a little more bushy, even big pumpkin.
Speaker 5 (00:14):
Gotta stop.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Dave.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Good to see you.
Speaker 5 (00:15):
How I see you guys doing well.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Well last night's game for a moment before we get
to the Broncos, and I want your take on the Buffs.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Take it on BYU as well.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
But last night's gang was was ultimately very entertaining for
the final like five minutes of the game, and up
until that point he was he was kind of a
rough one to watch. The one thing I wanted to
ask you about, Dave is the kickoff and that moment
where you miss the landing zone by a half freaking
(00:45):
yard and it tilts the entire thing.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Have we gone too far?
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Have we gone too far in trying to make the
kickoff more interesting?
Speaker 5 (00:56):
I don't know. I would say no.
Speaker 6 (01:01):
I mean, I think I think it obviously puts kicking
the ball in the landing zone at a premium because
you pay a steep price. I mean forty Arizona, you're
starting the forty and basically get you know, fifteen to
seventeen yards and with the kickers today, you're giving up
three points. So but I I'm starting to warm up
(01:23):
a little bit to the kickoff, the new kickoff thing,
because I know they're never going to go back to
you know, guys running down and just blowing up the wedge,
you know, and that's probably good.
Speaker 5 (01:38):
I'm sure there.
Speaker 6 (01:39):
I'm minus a few brain cells from my rookie year
of doing that. So yeah, but man, oh man, Arizona. Oh,
I mean, that's just that's.
Speaker 5 (01:51):
Not a good way to lose a game.
Speaker 6 (01:52):
And really, Arizona didn't play very well from what I heard.
I didn't I didn't see the game, saw the highlights.
But you find a way to get back in it.
You're tied at twenty and then your kicker does that.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
They played real well on defense, they just thought, you know, offensively,
those two interceptions, one of which was definitely Marvin Harrison's fault.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
The other one Marvin Harrison's first half was brutal.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
It was just somebody's got to get his head in
the game early, he just looked completely uninterested in being
there in the first half.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
And then relieve when he got that first catch in
the second half.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
I've done by how many people were just like, let's
give up on Kyler Murley. I was like, I don't
know those two interceptions and he certainly didn't have great
moments last night. But do you realize they've lost two
games in a row now, just like the Broncos buzzer
beater field goals at the last player of the game.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Yes, two games in a row, just like the Broncos.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
So it's a remarkable thing is we opened a football
Friday that the kicking game has never been more important
in the history of the league.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
And by the way, I think it was the right
call to knuckleball kicked there. I mean, there are two
teams out there that are doing it right now. It's
the Rams and the Panthers. Average got the land, It's yeah,
that's the only thing is you got to get it
in the zone. The Rams and the Panthers averaged field
position is the twenty one yard line. Everybody else in
the league is the twenty six yard line or better.
The Broncos are fifth worst at the thirty two yard line.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
So you like to play you just the execution. I
love the concept, hate the execution there. Yeah, that kicker
at Chad Riley, you got to you gotta put three
more feet on it.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Man. Well, anyways, I just thought I thought that'd be
kind of a funny way to open the show.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
Is like, hey, it's a football Friday. Guess what the
kicking game is alive? And well it's everything really the
kicking game.
Speaker 6 (03:25):
I mean, in terms of kickers, I don't think it's
ever been better in NFL history.
Speaker 5 (03:30):
I mean how much there are so.
Speaker 6 (03:31):
Many guys that have legs capable of making fifty seven,
fifty eight, fifty nine, sixty sixty one. I mean kicks
that not long ago we would step back and say, okay.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
You're not you're not making this. Now it's like, you
know what, you think he can make this?
Speaker 3 (03:54):
So Nathaniel Hacke is ahead of his time.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
Was it sixty four?
Speaker 6 (04:00):
I don't think that McMahons doesn't have enough leg to
make a sixty four yard.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
He does and he even said put me in coach.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
Yeah, ready to go. Yeah, then what happens. Somebody's got
to win this game? And then that happened. It's it's
not good. What's he doing?
Speaker 3 (04:13):
He's kicking for green Bay? No, no, how you'll hack it? Uh.
Oh he's like a.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Defensive Is he a defensive something with Green Bay? I
think he works the defensive Yes, yeah, I think so,
because if anybody.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Knows how to stop offense anyways.
Speaker 5 (04:28):
Oh you are Woway right.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Wow, this is a guy you parted you this guy
you partied with an Indian. Now you're just throwing him
under the bus when he's not here.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
We can appreciate and share common interest with Star Wars
and simultaneously understanding this.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Guy's over here buying Nate Hackett drinks at forty seven
in Indianapolis at two am on a Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Now, guy's just backing the bus over him. Just kept
talking and I just kept buying. So uh.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
The Broncos practice reports out and very good nigs. Everybody's
full participant and stick bonito. Happy birthday by the way,
Evan Ingram, John Franklin Myers also happy birthday. It's a
JFM and Alex Singleton all full. We talked a little
bit about Evan Ingram yesterday. When's the Evan Ingram breakout game,
because I think this would be a good one. Just
(05:15):
throwing it out there, this suggestion you have a little
you have a little smart ass tity going on.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
Do you like it? Double te smart as? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (05:28):
No, I I think listen, if he's healthy, I think
he's a good player.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
But he hadn't been healthy, right, so.
Speaker 6 (05:36):
Maybe Monday, Maybe Monday Ingram four catches four yards? Okay,
based on what you've seen in three games, you would
bock if Evan Ingram had four catches, that's not.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
A breakout game.
Speaker 5 (05:54):
I mean, how many of you caught this year?
Speaker 3 (05:57):
That's a great point. Receivers have a four catch game
this year?
Speaker 6 (06:01):
Lower?
Speaker 2 (06:02):
You're right?
Speaker 3 (06:05):
How do you lower my standards? See you're you're.
Speaker 6 (06:08):
I mean, you're The mindset you have right now, I'm
just telling you is sort of the mindset that a
lot of Broncos fans have. It's like, the expectations are
so high, Now, how do they get there?
Speaker 5 (06:23):
We've we've talked about.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
That we have a lower expectations.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
No, no, but they got there. They got there.
Speaker 6 (06:29):
I think partially due to Sean Payton's comments about how
he viewed this team and also bon Nicks bo Nicks
was the top five quarterbacks. So Broncos fans are like
chomping at the bit. But we've all covered this game
for a long time, you know, the seasons. Even with
(06:50):
good teams, they have dips. It's like riding a roller coaster.
So my hope is, hey, Monday night, they can come out,
play well on both sides of the ball, get a win.
It'll fill a heck of a lot better to them,
and then you get ready to go to the East
Coast and then to London.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Evan Ingram has four catches on six targets, so doubling
his catch amount would be nice.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
Well there you go, what what A?
Speaker 2 (07:14):
What A?
Speaker 1 (07:15):
I think a reasonable way to look at it. Right
to your question about the tight end room. So Evan
Ingram has four, Lucas Kroll has two, and Adam Troutman
has four plus three penalties.
Speaker 6 (07:27):
Okay, well there you go, cracking on Troutman. I'm gonna
be out there tomorrow at practice. I'll make sure that
your cell number. Well, you have four catches by Evan Ingram,
and he's a he's a you know, reasonable part of
(07:47):
the game plan.
Speaker 5 (07:48):
That's that's a breakout game for him.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Okay, all right, So it's a a baseline for you,
not a ceiling. Like That's what I wanted to understand
is four would be like that's a good game for him,
not a boy if he gets to four kind of deal.
Speaker 6 (08:05):
No, if you would have said, Evan Ingram is going
to catch ninety eight balls this year?
Speaker 5 (08:12):
What we you've said about that?
Speaker 4 (08:14):
I would have been like, Wow, he's having a great season,
daffy duck back flipping around.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
Fired up. Yeah, that is that four games? Is that
four game?
Speaker 3 (08:25):
That's for a game? Okay, yeah, I.
Speaker 5 (08:27):
Arrest my case. You're game. I arrest my case. No
further questions.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
We've got some make it up to you here, Dave.
Speaker 6 (08:35):
You can destruct the witness to remove himself from standing. No,
if he if he gets four, you're like, I mean
you were like poop pulling that, like, oh he gets four.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
Going to be excited. But if you have four games,
you got ninety eight catches for.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
The year, you actually have sixty eight catches for the year.
Let you go for a that. I felt like, I
was like, God, but.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
He knows how bad I am a math Like he's
extra thirty.
Speaker 6 (09:02):
I mean I screwed in there because I know he
can't add. No, if he had sixty eight for the year,
what would you say.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
I would have been more than I expected for him
this year?
Speaker 5 (09:13):
How they have last year? Tight end?
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Well, that's a good question here, I'll tell you.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
Not many, not maybe that many.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
No sixty eight room or like the room for the room,
No room, No old George Humphrey kitna No.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Nineteen catch fourteen thirty three five.
Speaker 5 (09:37):
That's thirty eight cat five. Yeah, I don't even remember
that early.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Yeah, trouping at thirteen.
Speaker 6 (09:44):
So fifty one catches for the room, fifty one for
the room. Okay, so you're telling me sixty eight. If
I have an Ingram, I would would not represent a
good investment.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
If you asked me for a dart thrown number on
ingram catches the bad of the year, I would have
said fifty.
Speaker 6 (09:56):
Okay, all right, he's got to get healthy, I think.
I mean, I saw enough of him in camp. When healthy,
he still got good skill. He can still run, right,
I mean, I mean good ball catcher.
Speaker 5 (10:11):
So I hope that.
Speaker 6 (10:13):
Monday night he's able, he's able to go, he's able
to play and produce.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
But you moved on from Vivion Valley who had forty
one catches. So we had talked about that has nothing
to do with the tight end room. Well it can no, because,
lord seriously.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Because the absorbed target.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
To practice in a few minutes, I can get the
hell out of here.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
The target's absorbed from what divine valleys rolled up in
the offense.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
You don't think those v Ingram would catch some of those?
Speaker 5 (10:40):
No, I don't who's that going to go to?
Speaker 6 (10:44):
Then whomever gets hot, whomever the play caller and play
designer sort of starts to, you know, figure out ways
to get this guy, and there'll be a pecking order
this guy, this guy, this guy, this guy. So no,
I don't think with Veley's numbers, I don't think necessarily
(11:05):
that they all go to have an Ingram.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Oh I wasn't saying all forty one receptions. I think
fifty five targets. I was just wondering how many of
them might go to Evan Ingram. And so if you
had fifty as your number, Ben's number before the season started,
and then you say, okay, well, now, Devon Velay, who is.
Speaker 6 (11:22):
My number was a little bit higher than Ben's before
the year started.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Now I want to revise my number down anyway, So
you want to what number do you want to go?
Speaker 5 (11:29):
Now?
Speaker 3 (11:30):
Forty probably for the year for Evan Ingram. God, that's
a bust.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
That's double any single tight ends output last year.
Speaker 6 (11:39):
Yeah, I think it has to you know what. I
think we have to see what kind of catches they are?
Speaker 5 (11:45):
Okay, right right?
Speaker 6 (11:46):
I think we have to see is he making big
catches late in the game.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
Is a third and.
Speaker 6 (11:51):
Eleven and he's running some of the middle makes a catch?
Are they? I mean every catch is meaningful, but some
are more meaningful than others.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
I mean two of his catches have gone for first downs, yeah,
and the one one third down.
Speaker 5 (12:05):
I think one was a third and eleven. I think.
So you got twelve.
Speaker 6 (12:09):
So my hope again, NFL players are going to try
to play when they're not one hundred percent, and my
hope is that he's close to or at one hundred
percent after missing last week.
Speaker 5 (12:24):
We'll see.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
So it's eight percent two of the twenty five first
downs that the Broncos have.
Speaker 5 (12:29):
Did you just put your cell phone down?
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Yeah? I was.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
I was doing maths pH calculator function.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
I was doing wow math on my phone.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
So the twenty five first downs they have receiving first downs.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
Yeah, he has two of them, so that's eight percent?
Or yes, yes, yes, that.
Speaker 6 (12:44):
Would be eight percent. That's right. And I just say
congratulations to you. I allow your cell phone. Try to
do that in my head, yeah, I wanted to do,
but I was hoping you would do it. Twenty five,
Like twenty five goes into one hundred. How many times four?
Speaker 5 (12:58):
Right? And four times two is eight? There you go.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Okay, so that'd have been a much faster. It'd be
zero point three percent.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
But who's coming? Wait?
Speaker 1 (13:06):
What what?
Speaker 3 (13:07):
Eight point three?
Speaker 1 (13:08):
No?
Speaker 5 (13:09):
Two out of twenty five?
Speaker 3 (13:11):
Twenty five? Yeah, sorry, twenty four?
Speaker 5 (13:13):
My heads, my chops about math?
Speaker 4 (13:14):
I did two out of twenty four, one out of twelve,
eight point three.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
All of a sudden, you get in this room and
just because I'm deficient at math, all of a sudden,
oh with.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
Daves gets contagious. I can't you know, we can't handled.
I can't handle you know. No, I shouldn't have been
challenging Dave. Ken Jennings logan over here.
Speaker 5 (13:32):
Oh listen, there you go.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
We're gonna have pastor ten joining us here. Come up
with three thirty.
Speaker 5 (13:38):
We got text you seven one nine four seven two, Dave,
Your players don't get Friday off after a Thursday game.
We do not.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
We just waiting for the hell not.
Speaker 5 (13:48):
Uh seven two four nine five Dave.
Speaker 6 (13:50):
I can't believe you're telling us that our expectations are
too high. After all, we have a coach will always
tell us how great he is and.
Speaker 5 (13:56):
How he's won Super Bowls.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
N E.
Speaker 6 (14:02):
But all of his actions in the field show that
he's nothing more than a washed up, mediocre play caller.
What are we going to do when we're one and
four Tuesday morning? Well, one in four Tuesday morning would
mean you lost two games right on Monday night.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Yeah, they'll be one in three if they lost.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
Yeah. So I don't want to.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Get too carried away here, but I think he needs
one and four after field.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
Listen, I think to the Texters point.
Speaker 6 (14:29):
I mean, if the Broncos lose this game Monday, there
there will be a full fledged panic in Broncos country,
and it would be hard for me to try to
dissuade fans that hey, everything is going to be okay.
There's there's this game, so you have to find a
way to win. And you're playing the Bengals, without Joe Burrow,
(14:52):
and I know they have T Higgins and I don't
have they have Jamar Chase, and you know, I think
Jake Browning is an above average backup quarterback. Okay, but
you're playing the Bengals without Joe Burrow, so you I
mean they know that out there. I mean, they've got
to find a way to win this game. Monday period
could agree more. And I get the sense to the Broncos.
(15:14):
I mean, you try to win every single game.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
But the focus once again, I think offensively, be better
on first and second down, yep.
Speaker 5 (15:22):
Deep.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Defensively, they've even though the Bengals have not been able
to run the ball. We talked about it a bit
yesterday because Ben has a source saying that the Bunkles
are going to try to run the ball.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
The Broncos. I was talking to DJ Jones for the pregame.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
They're very, very aware that everybody's running against him, and
so they know that they have to stop at Martin Hampton.
It's struggled, I mean really struggled in his first couple
of games, but he found traction against the Broncos. And
of course we saw Jonathan Taylor to this team. So yeah,
I mean until otherwise, that's who you are, and you're
gonna have to find a way to prove otherwise.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Before we hit the break here, Dave, just want to
get your quick thoughts.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
On BYU versus Boulder Bills versus CUM.
Speaker 6 (16:01):
I think b YU is pretty good this year. Honestly,
it may be one of their better teams. I know
they they played these two teams played in the bowl
game last year. BUS has got to be I mean
the Buffs have got to be better on both sides
of the ball, right, and they got to run the ball,
stay on the field, keep BYU off the field. But
(16:24):
I think that's it. I'm not saying, see you can't win.
I just think it's a tough matchup for the Buffs.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
I mean, you know what YU is gonna want to do.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
They're gonna want to run and they've got They've got
some talent there and that's what they did against CEU
in the bowl game.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Ballable.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
I think that the toughest thing for me is see
you being without their top two running backs to Kaylen
Taylor is Siming Price.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
I think for me, that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
But that's just gonna put more emphasis on your quarterback,
And what does Kayden Salter do with that?
Speaker 3 (16:52):
So it's not impossible. You're in You're at home there.
Speaker 6 (16:57):
I think the Buffs. It's not like I don't think
they have a shot. I just think they're gonna have
to play. They're gonna have to play really well. You
have to win the toun off a battle too. You're
gonna have to against this because that defense is good.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Yeah, but once again by Us played three games that
they should win, right, I mean to start the season
that their schedule is the definition of cupcake schedule, which
makes it difficult to really know how good they are
and know what we're going off of is what we
saw from them last year when they were a good team.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Now, these served to be nationally ranked right now they're
twenty fifth.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
That's that fine. I'm fine with that. They have a
resume for that. It's just one of those situations. Like
I was asking a couple of you friends of mine
about it earlier today, I said, what do you expect
in this game?
Speaker 3 (17:37):
They're like, I'm all over the map on it.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
I think that the Bronco the bus will sell out
to try to stop the run, slow down the run.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
You got a freshman quarterback there for BYU.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
So you feel like that's advantageous matchup, But even selling
out to stop the run, is that enough?
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Because this is such a prolific offense when it comes
to that.
Speaker 6 (17:54):
I think, like Ben said, I mean, you've got to
win the turnover battle, you know, make a couple of
big plays and special teams.
Speaker 5 (18:02):
See you is capable of winning this game.
Speaker 6 (18:04):
But I think last time I look, BYU is like
a six or seven point favorite.
Speaker 5 (18:10):
Is that what it is?
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Seven right now?
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (18:12):
So, I mean you're you're gonna have to play better
than what we've seen them play so far this season,
and we've we've seen stretches. Right even the first game
against Georgia Tech, there were stretches where you know, they looked,
they look good. You're gonna have to You're gonna have
to stack those stretches and you're gonna have to play.
(18:33):
You're gonna have to play better defense than what I've
seen them play. And honestly, it's not putting it all
on the defense. They're gonna run the ball better than
they've run the ball to.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
I really said roly here on a Football Friday. Pat
Sertan joins us next three thirty, Pat, certain, Pat, you're
on with Dave Logan.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Ryan was a bitch of an all Bright? How are
you sure I'm no good?
Speaker 5 (18:59):
How doing We're doing good? Pat, appreciate the time.
Speaker 6 (19:03):
We're just talking about the and I know you guys
have talked about it as well.
Speaker 5 (19:07):
Game by game, the three game stretch. You're one and two.
Speaker 6 (19:10):
Uh Now is a veteran leader a voice in that
in that locker room?
Speaker 5 (19:15):
What?
Speaker 6 (19:16):
What are what are the challenges of any in terms
of just kind of staying focused on what's ahead the
Monday night game with the Bengals, and and how do
you deal with sort of some of the disappointment the
last play of the game, disappointment the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 7 (19:33):
Yeah, I think first thing first is instill in confidence
in the guys around me and making sure you know,
we don't schedule with debt, but it's just a we
know it's a day to day process, a day to
day schedule.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
In this league. You know it's not gonna be easy, but.
Speaker 7 (19:52):
You know we gotta put out best foot forward each
and every week and look on to the next you
know what I mean. I think we've got a great
opportunity this week Monday Football against the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
To get on the win column.
Speaker 7 (20:03):
And uh, I think that's what's important now, just focusing
on the next step ahead.
Speaker 4 (20:08):
You gave an interview a couple of weeks ago where
you were talking about sometimes the defense sivers from from
lapses and you need guys to try to be superheroes
and seek big plays to change the game.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
What did you what did you mean by that?
Speaker 7 (20:21):
Just like, you know, not trying to do something as
out of your role, you know, I mean, just be
in your role understanding the defense. Uh, you know you're
gonna make your plays when it comes about to like
just from that standpoints, just say, by doing their job
collectively as a unit and being assigned and being focused
(20:43):
on their job, the individual job. And because you know
there's great players everywhere and you know the play is
gonna come to you as long as you focus in
hone in on what.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
You do in your role.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
So, hey, patam really enjoying the new podcast with you
and Terry and Arnold.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
It's really good stuff. Man, you'd have fun doing that.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
Yeah, I'm having I'm having a great time doing it.
Speaker 5 (21:03):
Man.
Speaker 7 (21:04):
It's a different avenue to tap into obvious, he's quite
the character.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
But it's pretty cool.
Speaker 7 (21:11):
To really like sit down and engage with the fans,
but also, you know, talk game and have some fun
doing it as well too, So you know, I'm enjoying
it a little bit.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
At first, I was opposed to it, but now I'm
having some fun with it, so it's pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
One of the things that you talked about, I think
it was either yesterday or recently, is about this Bengals
matchup and watching the Vikings and how they played against
Browning and that that Bengals offense.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
What can you take away?
Speaker 1 (21:40):
I mean, you guys run a different kind of defense
than what they're doing with Brian Flores and the Vikings defense.
But what are some of the takeaways that you had
watching that in the way that you guys can maybe
utilize some of the effectiveness that the Vikings had.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Yeah, I think they was. They's flying around, I had
to the ball. There's making a lot of turnovers. I
think that's what's key in the NFL. We generate a
lot of turnovers and increase your chances of winning. And
I think that propelled them towards victory. And uh, you know,
they played great sound defense.
Speaker 7 (22:15):
Uh, you know they they had a great scheme going
on to the game.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Uh, looking at the film to seem like everybody was
flying around to the ball.
Speaker 7 (22:24):
Uh and making plays and uh, you know that's that's
pretty much in terms of a good sign. Uh when
you see all those turnovers being wrapped up on the
defensive side of the ball, So they're playing around, for sure.
Speaker 6 (22:39):
Pat, you've got you've got an offense that you're familiar
with coming to town on Monday night. Different different quarterback
obviously in Jake Browning, but still the cast of characters
is the same. And I want to ask you, because
you were matched up last year in Cincinnati some maybe
even a lot on Jamar Chase. There are great receivers
(23:00):
in this league almost every single week, and then there
are some guys that are, you know, a step or
two above that in terms of.
Speaker 5 (23:08):
Being elite guys.
Speaker 6 (23:10):
When when you look at Chase and his game, what
two or three things strike you about being most difficult
for defensive backs to kind of deal with?
Speaker 7 (23:22):
I think, Uh, one of the underrated parts about his
game is people don't realize how strong he is. His
ability to really like utilize and get off of press,
and you know his explosiveness, and I think his yards.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
After the catch.
Speaker 7 (23:38):
I think when he gets the bar in his hands,
he's he's uh damn. They guaranteed to take it to
the house some play, So he's a he's a big
play threat, uh waiting to happen. And I think that's
what separates him from you know, other receivers in the league.
So you know, we got to eliminate that and hone
in on stopping that for sure.
Speaker 4 (24:00):
Dovetail it off, Ded. I think memory serves correct. Last year,
you get the force fumble on T Higgins, You're gonna
you can get the force fumble on Jamar this so
we can put the skins up on the wall for
both receivers.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Yeah, yeah, gotta make that happen. You gotta have a
two for two there you.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Go, getta decide to put it up on the wall.
Love it, absolutely, love it all.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
Right. Now it's time for the Children's hospital. Call her

Speaker 3 (24:30):
It's me Molkai. I want to know what is your
weirdest and funniest food you have in your house?
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Okay, where where does food in the house?
Speaker 7 (24:46):
Yeah, that's a good question.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
What do I have right now? Uh?
Speaker 4 (24:55):
Hopefully none of these pumpkin spice salmon file at is
like Ryan Edwards over here.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Yeah, yeah, I ain't. I ain't got that. I ain't
got nothing.
Speaker 7 (25:03):
I ain't got nothing to crazy, Yeah, because that's what's weird?
Do you like?
Speaker 5 (25:09):
I got?
Speaker 7 (25:10):
I got some like hot tomalis in the cabinet. I
don't know why I'm not. I'm not a big fan
of those. That's probably a weird the food I have
in the in the cabot and favorite food? Uh, what's
my favorite?
Speaker 2 (25:30):
I know I got. I got a whole bunch of
chips lined up. I'll be snacking on the chips, thritos
and stuff, so i'd probably say that.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
So the hot tomalis, is it just a spice, like
the cinnamon spice of it?
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Yeah, I don't. I don't like that. I don't know
what it is. Some people some people.
Speaker 7 (25:45):
Like them, but you know, it's just sitting in the
cabinet for no reason, taking up space.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
In case the friend comes over and is like, oh,
I love you, they're yours.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Take them them, take them, take them, please see them.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
Hey, pat appreciate it man, best of luck.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
On Monday night.
Speaker 5 (26:03):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Yeah, I appreciate Joe, all right, patser.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Tan as he joins us every Friday. Always good stuff there.
We'll react to that. Co Speaking of the Broncos, of course,
we spend a quite a bit of time talking about
them today along with the Colrad Buffalo's issue. Rams got
a big game against Washington's stay. We'll get to all
of that over the course of the next hour and
(26:27):
ten minutes, but we will have a chance for you
to go to the game. That's right, we're gonna be
giving it away, a pair of tickets to the Broncos
and Bengals Monday night football.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
Game coming up here. In just a bit, I tell
you it's time just yet.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
As you're listening, I will key in and tell you
more specific time coming up, So you know, in about
ten minutes, i'll tell you a little bit more information,
and as we move along, I'll dial that in and
let you know more specifically when the getaway is gonna happen.
But We're gonna have a pair of tickets to get
away to the Broncos Bengals Monday night football game at
a power field of my high And you can also
win a pair on KOA X and win a pair
(27:04):
on the KWA Instagram from the official home of the
Broncos KOA. We're running those those promotions right now as
far as least on Twitter or x that's going on
right now. But we will give you a chance via
KA Sports today to win a pair tickets.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
So that's gonna be cool.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
So the match up with Patser Tanna Jamar Chase it
list is a little bit without Joe Burrows.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
There's kind of no way around that.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
But listening to him and Terry and Arnold chop up
that game, the Minnesota Vikings versus Bengals, game boy, it
was almost like eye opening for Pat, like he really
kind of dove into that game and felt like he
learned a lot.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
Now.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
I don't know, again, defensive scheme wise, what you can
take away from what Brian Flores does versus what Vance
Joseph does. But I felt like there was some stuff
coming out of that game that got him pretty excited.
Speaker 4 (27:55):
Yeah, there's some similarities there both those both are of
our high pressure defenses.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
They like to say people high withits rate.
Speaker 4 (28:01):
High pressure defenses, you know that don't hesitate to put
their guys out on an island. They don't mind being
in Cover three or Cover one or zero for that matter.
So there are some things that you can you can learn.
While most of the league is C two, C four,
C six, these are two teams that are not, and
that it goes both ways. Gives you something to pick
(28:22):
up on as the Broncos and then it also as
the Bengals. You're like, all right, well these things didn't
work against this kind of defense. Here's some things that did,
and we can what can we carry forward to the
next game. So there's some givens some take with that.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
So in this game, and again the Broncos have been
phenomenal rushing the passer like that. That's going to continue
to be something they'll find success against. Since these offensive
line it really comes down to the running game.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
And you had the intel yesterday what Cincinnati is going
to be trying to do. They're gonna try to get
the running game on track.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
And if the Chargers were kind of the same boat,
they were really struggling eruaging eighty five yards rushing per game,
and then of course they Omrion Hampton got seventy all
by himself and then he added twenty eight from nausey.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
They obviously surpassed that.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
But since he's even worse, they're not even clearing fifty
yards per.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
Game, right they're rushing team in the league.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
So and I talked to DJ Jones, I mentioned that earlier,
and he understands teams are just gonna run at you
and until you can show that you have the capability
of stopping it. Because Chase brown did have some success
on the ground, so did Joe Burrow last time these
two teams met. And we'll check out with Jay Morrison,
who writes for the Bengals on Sports Olister. We'll check
in with him coming to be four thirty and get
his thoughts. But that for me is kind of an
(29:34):
early look at the matchup to watch because if the
Bengals can get their running game on track, this could
be a problem.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
That I mean, I think that's the fear.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
You know, if you have to put this on the
arm of Jake Browning, I think you're pretty confident you're
coming away with a win. If they can stay balanced
or able to move the chains, or able to run
the ball on you, that creates a problem because then
you know, you are start to get concerned about those
receivers getting free on you and browning, maybe getting a
few deep balls and picking you off.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
You know, with some there was.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
Some big plays, so you know, you can't let them
establish anything with that ground game early. If they do,
it presents a real problem for this defense.
