Speaker 2 (00:11):
Good afternoon, sir.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
How are you what's going on?
Speaker 4 (00:14):
How you guys doing.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
We're doing great, very very busy day for you, of course,
especially in Baltimore.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Ravens.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
I want to start there because the laundry list of
guys that were not participating today seems extreme.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Let's start well, I guess with Lamar Jackson here.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
I thought your point this morning, because there was a
report that he's going to be out two to three weeks.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
You push back on that a little bit.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
What do you got, Well, I mean, you know, as
far as the report goes, I mean, honestly, it wasn't.
It was just saying he might miss Sunday, he might
miss the next game, he might be out of two
to three weeks. Like if we know, we know, and
if we don't, like it's okay to say like he's
week to week and that is my understanding. Like they
have a game this week, him not being out there
(00:57):
for the Wednesday you know, first big practice of the
game week with a hamstring injury obviously points you to
potentially not playing. We don't know for sure, but that's
what it sort of points to. And then one more
game and then to buy so like if you want to,
you know, extend it out. It's possibly misses three weeks
(01:18):
with two games. It is possible, but he's gonna keep
being evaluated day by day and then that this week
will be evaluated next week. But you know, either way,
I mean every team sort of goes through this at
some point in degrees, but like that is a lot
of injuries, so a lot of really good players and
you know, health a lot of times can determine where
(01:39):
a team is. And the Ravens have been reeling. They're
gonna have to figure it out and they're gonna have
some challenges along the way.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
Ed Rick Lewis here a question about Tyreek Hill's injury. Uh,
it's starting to look like he may not only miss
this year, but at least a portion of next year.
And the tough part for the Dolphins is he's their
main asset that they could trade to get some talent
to kind of rebuild this team. So really tough luck,
(02:08):
not only for him but the franchise.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
Yeah, I mean, I you know, I always obviously sort
of wondered if around the trade deadline he'd be someone
you could trade. Now, I mean obviously that's not going
to happen. I mean, it's you know, this is as
series as it gets. It's a multi ligament injury dislocated
me you know, basically means a tour either everything or
(02:32):
almost everything. And you know, the recovery time can be
twelve months. So is he gonna be ready for the
start to the season, to start the season, Like, I
don't know for sure. I don't know that anybody knows,
certainly not Tyreek Hill. I mean, the fact that he
was able to get you know, everything repaired in one
surgery yesterday is a good sign that you know, could
(02:55):
mean an accelerated recovery. But you know, ten months from
now is basically the start of the season, Like that
would be an unbelievable challenge. And even if he's ready,
how ready is he going to be? Right? So now
you know, contractually you do thirty six million dollars next year,
(03:15):
none of it is guaranteed, So you know, something is
going to have to change if he's going to remain
on the Dolphins. If he's not, then he's not. But
either way, I mean, there's there's a lot going on
with Tyreek Hill, and certainly a trade is no longer
no longer coming.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Ian Rappaport joining us, I want to get you read
on the Eagles situation. There was the message from AJ
Brown after the game. We know what the numbers look like.
They're thirtieth in yards, they're thirty first in passing, they're
even sixteenth in running. So certainly the numbers are not
what we're used to seeing with an elite team, but
they are four and oh. It's a weird situation with
the Eagles. What's you read on it?
Speaker 4 (03:54):
You know, that's what it's sort of always like with
the Eagles. And you know, there's a reason that it
takes a certain kind of person to the deal in
Philly because they're four and oh, and you know, all
the talk has been about why is the offense not
good enough? Whereas like every other team would love to
be foreigna. You know, they've gotten it done in different ways.
And I also would say, you know, when they've been
(04:16):
up on teams and they've sort of decided to go
a little more conservative, just trying to make sure to
get the win. Sometimes that negatively shows in the stats,
so like it's not you know, play calling doesn't exist
in a vacuum. It's always determined by other factors.
Speaker 6 (04:33):
You know.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
The A. J. Brown thing was interesting to me. He
came up today and you know, kind of took ownership,
say it was frustrated, sort of apologize for that, which
I think is good. You know, that's sort of what
you want.
Speaker 7 (04:46):
But you know, until and unless he's a factor every week,
it's going to be an ongoing sort of saga for
the Eagles and you know, one of their best players.
Speaker 5 (04:57):
And there was a lot of hype of course around
the Broncos leading up to the season. Then they opened
one and two, seems like a lot of people jumped
off the bandwagon. Then a big win Monday Night against
a Joe Burrow, this Bengals team, it kind of feels
like the Broncos that two and two are still in
a pretty good position around the league. Do you feel
(05:18):
like the the the league's the still feels like the
Broncos are legit contenders this year?
Speaker 4 (05:26):
Yes. Now, I would also say I would also say that,
you know, the only real goal is to sort of
survive the first month, right, you get to two and two,
you get to evaluate, you get to figure out where
you are, you know, And they've gotten to a point
(05:49):
where I would say they're okay. They've played perfect, No,
but I think they are at least okay. And you know,
bo Nick says has played Alrighty has been a little better.
I think the defense balling to know, the defense is
going to be there. To me, everything is still out
there for them, and you know, we'll see what happens.
(06:12):
But I haven't seen anything that would make me think
they are not contenders.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Last couple here for you Ian Dylan Gabriel named the
starter today for the Browns. How long a leash is
that in your opinion for Dylan Gabriel, because again there's
a lot of coverage around their quarterback room.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
As you know, I don't think it's gonna be one game,
and I think for the you know, for the Browns,
it's really an interesting games because what they'd like to
do is evaluate for next year. They'd like to, you know,
try to win, and I think this is to get
them to win. I mean, Placo is not playing bad,
(06:49):
but the turnovers were bad. It was enough, and but
I think you know, they'd like to get enough of
a look, so you know, like do we have a
guy or do we not have a guy? Right? And
like quarterback's kind in all shapes and sizes, Dylan gave
her obviously a little shorter, obviously a little bit later
draft picked than you would think for most quarterbacks starting quarterbacks.
But you never quite know what you get until you
(07:10):
see him. So I would say, at least you're looking
at a multi game situation. But you know, I expect
him to take a look at everyone by the time
near ends, including should because until you get out there
on the bright lights, you just don't know what you have.
So I would say a couple of games, several games,
and then you know, go kind of reassess from there.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
Yeah, stick with the Browns here real quick. One more
question he and regarding sha Duor. We were just talking
about him. He seems to be not happy in the
third string quarterback role, and uh, is he a guy
that team would trade for or would they trade him
at some point? It's almost like he's trying to force
(07:54):
himself out of Cleveland right now, you know, I get.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
A different read. You know, look, I'm sure he wants
to play. I don't know that. I don't know that
anybody thinks he's ready to play right now. And that
is okay, Like, you know, what Shador Sanders is for
the Browns is a lottery ticket. Like if he if
he's a bust, okay, cool, he's a fifth round pick.
Who cares? Team has messed up fifth round picks all
(08:19):
the time. It doesn't matter less. But if you're gonna
you know, there is a possibility that he is a guy.
Like again, with quarterbacks, you just never know. I don't
get the sense they would trade him because like, what's
the point. What are you going to get for him?
A seven? You know, like, what's what's the point? Might
as well keep him as will develop him, might as
well see and you know, the reality is if he
(08:42):
gets good enough to just be the backup, if his
career ceiling is to be the backup quarterback for the
Cleveland Browns for the next four years, that is good
value draft pick wise, Like a fifth rounder to be
the backup quarterback costing zero dollars, that's pretty good. And
I also, you know, I think he wants to play
(09:04):
because everybody wants to play. But I don't really get
the sense he sort of disgrunt. So I think today
the miming thing him not answering questions was really about
him trying not to get in trouble, honestly, because last
time he spoke he kind of said stuff, and you know,
so I think it was more making sure he stayed
out of harm's way than anything else.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Makes sense. Ian, appreciate you. We'll check out in the
next week.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
All right, Thanks you guys, take care.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Thanks Thank you, Ian Rappaport our NFL Network insider. We
were talking about it just a moment ago.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
You guys had that benefit concert on Saturday nights.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
How did that go? Man?
Speaker 5 (09:40):
It was fantastic. Thank you for letting me promote it
here on Kaway. And also thanks to Brenda are a
market president or regional president.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
I don't know what the exact title.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
Is, but she came to the show and she made
a big impact on it because I had that Zach
Allen Jersey signed to auction off. We got up to
like fifteen hundred bucks and then Brenda from up on
the balcony, up there.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Goes Rick Rick throw in four Club seats.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
Everybody cheered and went up to like twenty five hundred
bucks and then she goes Rick throw in four field
passes and then man, it just took off and so
we got over four thousand dollars for that, and it
was just such a great night. Ryan, you know, music heels,
you know that. And there were people that right in
(10:29):
front of the stage dancing with tears running down their face.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
That's amazing.
Speaker 5 (10:33):
The music and the power of music is just amazing.
And so thanks to everybody came out, Thanks to everybody
that helped try to heal Evergreen. I just heard today
that one of those kids got out of the hospital too. Yep,
so that's some good news right there. Hopefully the other
one's going.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
To be okay too, that's tremendous news, yes for sure. Well,
thank you to you and your band for putting that
together and the benefit to our community significance to thank you.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
It was a great night.
Speaker 5 (11:02):
It was It was an honor to be there for real,
and you being a musician, you get it. I definitely
you know how powerful it is and I'll never forget it.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Incredible.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Well, thank you to Brenda, Thank you and then your
drum tech Ben Albright was there.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
I heard, yes, Ben, did did you show you the
picture of him helping set up the drum?
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Did not?
Speaker 8 (11:20):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (11:21):
I took a picture of him. Okay, I said, you
can post this if you want to.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Do the good side of him or the weird, awkward,
balding side.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
I didn't get him from the back.
Speaker 5 (11:28):
You know, he refuses to let anybody photograph him from
behind or a puff.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Say, nobody, let me get that photo.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
No.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
No, In fact, the people in the balcony he was
afraid they might take a picture of him down below,
you know, so you could see the little bald spot
on the back.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
But no, I take it I think from his good side.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Okay, good, Yeah, he's so conscious about that. I just wondered.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
It's like it's like, you know, photographic the wild, you
know something the wild. You're like, you know, he never
lets that photo happen. So I was wondering if you
were setting up your drums, like, did you get the
one because he.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Will kind of. I think he posed a bit, but
that's okay though.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Yeah, Yeah he's pp Peacocks.
Speaker 5 (12:06):
He had a great night too, Yeah he really did.
It was a really fun night for everybody. He was
feeling it too. Very cool if he helped me with
the auction. Well he brought up the box with the jersey.
Oh great, Yeah, that's awesome. That's awesome. Well cool, thank
you for telling me about that. I I was thinking
about that.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
I fortunately couldn't make it because I had a family thing,
but I'm glad it turned that great.
Speaker 5 (12:25):
Well, you've been to plenty of RLP gigs, man, I
appreciate it when you show up.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yeah, thank you. It was always a great time. Musicianship
is just really second to none in the town, so.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
That might have been the maybe the best we've ever played.
We were that inspired, so it was so tight.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Very cool. Well, we'll come back.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
We're gonna check in with Jack Corgan Voice the Rockies,
get his thoughts on Bill Schmidt stepping down today for
the for the Rockies and what's next there. So we'll
check you with Jack, and then coming up on our
favorite segments that we get to do a little bit
later on this hour, we're gonna listen to sound from
around the NFL.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
Yeah, get to that. So that's that's all coming up next.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
We had to the Kai Commaspurit Health Hotline and bring
on Voice of the Rockies, Jack Corgan, who's kind enough
to join us after a very very long season. Jack,
I hope you have your toes buried in the sand
somewhere as you're joining us.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Thank you so much for the time. How are you.
Speaker 8 (13:17):
I am good. I'm actually at football practice for Regis Jedz.
You're with That's how I relax. So it's a good thing.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Well, that is a good thing.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
So I know you're a huge football guy too, So yeah,
I'm sure being able to just sort of soak all
that up is also good.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
What was your reaction when you heard that news today.
Speaker 8 (13:36):
Well, I kind of thought, you know that they have
to make a move. I mean, it was one thing
to have a couple of bad years, but a you're
into a string now of years. And while I think
Bill is a good baseball man in a lot of areas,
I think there were some definite reasons behind trying to
(13:59):
open things up and trying a different voice and really
a different approach. I think in a lot of ways, guys,
there's going to have to be somewhat of a philosophical
change for the ball club.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
My man, Jack Horrigan, Hey, it's Rick lewis Man.
Speaker 8 (14:16):
How you doing, Hi, Greg, I'm good, I'm good. Thanks Jack,
James Brown to the start. That's good.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
Hey.
Speaker 5 (14:22):
Jack's a big music lover, man. We have that in common.
We're both from the Midwest. I really appreciate your work, Jack,
especially what three one hundred lost seasons in a row.
As a fellow broadcaster. I know how difficult that can be.
You handled it like an absolute pro. I told you
this last time I saw you, I would tune in
(14:44):
in like the eighth inning of a game. The Rockies
were losing eight to one, and you sounded like they
were in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
You were so professional the entire time.
Speaker 8 (14:54):
Man.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
I just I think people need to realize it takes
somebody special to do that.
Speaker 8 (14:59):
Well, you know, coming from somebody like yourself, Rick, who's
been in the business for a long time, much appreciated.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
You know.
Speaker 8 (15:06):
We grew up listening to people like Jimmy Dudley and
Ernie Harwell and guys who it didn't matter what the
game was going, their job was to entertain the audience.
And I've tried to do that all these years, and
it's still it's nice to have it come from a peer.
I appreciate that.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
Well.
Speaker 5 (15:25):
My question for you, Jack is, and I said this
earlier in the first hour of the show, I felt
like the Rockies really needed to do something two or
three years ago to shake this thing up. It's been
a bad five year stretch. What are your thoughts on that.
Was this the right time? Are they a little late
to the party?
Speaker 4 (15:45):
You know?
Speaker 8 (15:46):
I think that will remain to be seen. I think
at the highest level you could certainly say that. I
think that things were starting to get better in terms
of where they were drafting people and developing them. I
think there is more potential young talent than has been
(16:06):
in the system for a while, but it certainly was
not manifesting itself at the big league level. And some
of that, to be honest with you guys, like I
said about a philosophical change, I think the Rockies spent
a long time drafting, for lack of a better description,
tight ends who could hit home runs, and the problem
(16:29):
was those guys don't play as well on the road,
and if they're not making enough contact, your offense stagnates,
and I think they have to go more the athletic approach.
The guys who put the ball in play look at Cleveland, Milwaukee, Detroit,
(16:51):
even the Diamondbacks not so much this year, but teams
that had athletic guys that ran first to third all
the time. That stole base is that god they sits.
The Rockies have the biggest outfield in baseball. Yeah, you
want to hit it over the barrier and get home runs.
But if you watch the Rockies closely and see when
(17:12):
they have faltered in terms of allowing runs, many times
it's the balls that drop in in front of the
outfielders who have to play so deep and it prolongs
innings and all the next thing you know, they're down
eight to one. Like you said, what.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Did you think the job Warren Shaeffer did as interim manager?
Speaker 8 (17:34):
I think Warren felt the same way I did in
terms of how this ball club should play. They should play.
I don't want to say small ball, is that that's
too much of just you know, bunting and those kinds things.
But I think they needed to play more athletic baseball
(17:55):
on all levels outside of the pitching, and even pitching
to a certain degree. But catch the ball that you're
supposed to catch, run base as well, steal bases, put
the ball in play. You know, if you want to
look at one giant staff for the Rockies the last
two years, they were among the worst teams in baseball
(18:16):
at drawing walks and striking out, and their pitching staff
was among the worst teams in baseball at walking people
and getting strikeouts. So if you're deficient, big time deficient
in those areas, it's hard to win.
Speaker 5 (18:34):
Jack, I'm not really familiar with how the minor league
system looks for the Rockies. Is there anybody we should
keep an eye on that's maybe coming up that could
maybe change the future for the team or is that
pretty pip as well?
Speaker 8 (18:49):
No, I think there are guys coming, you know, starting
with not that he's going to be here next year,
but you know, even Holiday is going to be you know,
if I'm wrong, I'll be shocked as anybody. Even Holiday
is going to be a terrific big league player. Charlie Condon,
who they took number one the previous year, is going
(19:10):
to be a good big league player. Jared Thomas, who
they took number two in the twenty four draft, is
going to be a good big league player. They are
developing the right kinds of people to put around Tobar
and Doyle and Goodman and Beck. They just got to
figure out a way how to pitch better. And that's
(19:30):
going to be and it always has been their biggest challenge.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
No doubt about it. Last one I got for you,
Jack really appreciate the time. So do you have any
I mean, whether it's names or a type of personality.
I mean, what are we looking for when Dick Montifer
starts interviewing these general managers outside the organization? Is there
some names or there's a certain pedigree you're looking for here?
Speaker 8 (19:54):
Well, I think, you know, you certainly have guys who
have some Rockies connections, even if they've gone on and
worked other places. You know, Sad Levine even I don't
know that he wants to do it anymore. John moseleyak
wuld just step down with the Cardinals after running them
for a number of years. John's out there. I from
(20:19):
my own perspective, I'd love to get somebody from teams
like Milwaukee in Cleveland or the Cubs, or people who
understand that athletic, aggressive style of baseball. And I think
whoever the person is, I mean, Bill Schmidtz was a
terrific baseball man in a lot of areas. But he
(20:43):
was also very passive, very quiet from a public perspective,
So was Jeff Bryda's before that I'd really like to have,
not necessarily him specifically, but a personality like Aj Preller
is with San Diego. Where he is, you can tell
his passion for the game and his passion to win,
(21:06):
not that any of those other gentlemen didn't, but you've
got to display that to the Rockyes fans. Otherwise, that
whole idea of they don't care about winning just keeps
building because there isn't somebody there who they go, Yeah,
that guy wants to win. Let's see if he can
make it happen. That's who they need.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
You know, then down the road hiring your next manager, Jack,
we talked about this the first hour two. I feel
like they need to bring in a guy that's had
success already, a known guy like a Bruce Bochie, a
name I threw out there, Joe Girardi, former Rocky who
is not in baseball right now other than in broadcasting.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
What do you think about that?
Speaker 5 (21:50):
I don't think the fan base will get too excited
if you bring in some no name guy that was
a third base coach or a hitting coach.
Speaker 8 (21:57):
Somewhere well, you know, to be honest with you, Rick,
I want the passionate, maybe more visible guy to be
the general manager. I want a guy not necessarily Warren Shafer,
but if the new guy decided shape was okay. I
want a guy who knows how to teach, who does
(22:20):
the ability or has the ability to keep guys confident
yet also challenge them when they're not doing what they're
supposed to be doing. I love Boach, but that's kind
of too late in the line. And Joe Girardi's really
kind of old school. I think the guys play the
(22:43):
game differently, they prepare for the game differently to young guys,
and that really ended up being a problem for but
you know, but knows baseball's well as anybody, but he
had a harder time communicating it to a newer player.
So that's why I think think it might be someone
more along those lines than that. You know, a Tory Leavello,
(23:07):
for example, Nobody thought much about him, but the passion
and for the most part, the success. Same with Craig
Counsel and those guys, Pat Murphy with Milwaukee and other one.
So yeah, it's going to be interesting and the biggest
thing for me, I know I'm running along and you guys,
I'm hoping that Dick really gives Walker a chance to
(23:29):
really be in charge of this and put his imprint
on it rather than making mini steps. Again, I think
it's time to make a leap.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Love that completely agree. Jack, You're the best.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
We really appreciate a great job this season as always
your consumatet pro.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
We appreciate your time anytime.
Speaker 8 (23:48):
Guys, enjoy it all right, Rick, talk to my friend.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
Yeah, bet you're the man. Jack, Thanks for coming on.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
All right, the great Jack Horgan.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Really good perspective.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
Yeah, yeah, for sure. By the way, heartbreaker here for
for a guy. Dave Logan as uh, the Red Sox
just tied it up in the top of the third.
Oh well, it could have been worse, I guess because
they just turned a double play to in the inning,
so it was bases loaded with no outs for the
Red Sox in the top of the third and Trevor
(24:20):
story former guy, he hits a two RBI single so
ended up driving into and then and then they just
turned that double play, so could have been worse. It's
all tied up at two in the third in the
middle of the third inning.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
So I pull my Tigers after the epic collapse.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Hey, they were brilliant, brilliant yesterday.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
Uh and I am such a huge Treek schoobl fan
fourteen to strike out some My goodness, that guy's that
guy's so good.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
And then yeah, but it was a little little dangerous
there at the top of the Knights.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
But found a way sorry, bottom of the Knights, found
a way to get out.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
But then today was not great. So Tigers tomorrow, let's
go yep.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
Tied up at one? What let's do it?
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Let's do it? Hey, you ready to listen to some sound?
Speaker 5 (25:03):
Oh yeah, man, it's one of my favorite segments of
the show.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
All right, I love this.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Let's get into it all right. Week four did not disappoint.
We're gonna start with your lions. How about them lions?
Speaker 9 (25:12):
Not a great pun.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
It's gonna come up the theaters.
Speaker 5 (25:14):
I the Thurty's boot makes the first thing missed there
here forty Lee Bank, look at the forty to the party.
Speaker 8 (25:20):
They say goodbye, Kelly Framan to the house.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Touch down to Froy Lions, No baby water run back.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Want to run back?
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Indeed?
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Troy Lyons Radio Network on the call that was listen. Well,
Cleif Raymond of course was here, and and we know
Cleiff Raymond really well. You know, this is kind of
a weird game because by the numbers, it wasn't a
dominant offensive performance like we're used to seeing from the Lions.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
But they did enough.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
They won this one convincingly, obviously at thirty four to ten,
and it eventually was the reason Joe Flacco is no
longer the start of this team.
Speaker 5 (25:54):
After a bit of a shaky start to the season,
the Lions are back and I think they're back to
stay as well.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
And I love Lomas Brown. Yeah that calls.
Speaker 5 (26:04):
He's talking all over the the the play by play call. Uh,
he's He's a legend in Detroit as well. And I
met Dave Lapham recently, did you. I had him on
my You have a Bengals cut from the Broncos game.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
I cut, Yeah, it'll be it'll be just Austin. Then
we have the national Drestwood cuts. But yeah, no, Dave's great.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
He's awesome.
Speaker 5 (26:26):
I had him on my show that I was on
his show in Cincinnati and we talked at the at
the stadium on Monday night.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Very cool. Well, we we we love his cuts. Grandon
is a long time, long time good dude Tools fan.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
All right, we move on here. Well for a moment here,
let's talk about the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 8 (26:47):
They win them.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
Have the punt Dixon and the return Johan.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
Picked up and.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
Run with the football and it is.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Sidney so eat.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Another legendary voice of a team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
That's Merril Reese on the call Sports Radio ninety four.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
Wip the think about the Eagles and we'll talk some
more about them coming up here at the top of
the hour. There's so many weird stats about the team,
except for the fact that they close and that's what
they do, and they do it on special teams, and
they do it on defense, and you know what they
do it in offense too, because we talked about it
in the first hour. They're one hundred percent in the
red zone if they make the red zone this year
(27:30):
in the first four games they're scoring a touchdown. They
are not coming away with three, and that is remarkable.
And then, of course, on the other side, defensively, they
only allow lower thirty percent scoring range, so the Broncos
are not gonna get a lot of mistakes out of
this team, and what you're gonna have to do is
you're gonna to keep them out of the red zone.
Then when you get in the red zone, you're gonna
final away score against them, which is something not many
(27:51):
teams are getting.
Speaker 5 (27:52):
Yeah, they had a tough game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
another good NFC team. I'm glad. I'm glad that was
a tough game. They got beat up a little bit
in that game. We just looked at their injury report
for today, some pretty big names on that report. We'll
see how it plays out on Sunday. But starting to
feel better and better about this game coming up in Philly,
(28:13):
the New York Giants.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
They did us as solids the LA Chargers.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
Kataboo the back dark design run.
Speaker 9 (28:20):
Up until he goes to the buck cuts out Giants.
Jacks the Giant cut a quarterback drop from fifteen yocks
out hit his part start just.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
The Giant Philly was Bob Papa.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
The WFA Inn Giants Radio network twenty one to eighteen
was the final Jackson Dart made his debut. I wouldn't
say it was a really bad game necessarily from the Chargers.
The Giants just made enough plays in camp. Scataboo man,
he he can play.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
My guy cam scattered man.
Speaker 5 (28:49):
He's he's impressing everybody around the league, not just running
the ball, catching the ball out of the backfield and blocking.
You've seen some of the blocks he put on some
of these guys and then doing a bat flip. He
got that two point conversion. He did his back flip again.
I guess that's going to be his trademark touchdown celebration
or so.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
Uh. He's he's really fun guy to watch.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
He has a fun guy to watch. Greg said, he
kind of a revisable Bobby Bouchet out there.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
Yes, that's a great description of him. He's that guy.
He is just that guy and they love him.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
The Patriots absolutely all over the Panthers. The first stats
factors got escape the.
Speaker 6 (29:30):
Sideline, to the the funny, to the twenty, to the.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
Ten, to the ensode.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
Touts down, the Scott and Zolac stomping all over Bob
Sosci in ninety five the Sports of Patriots Radio Network.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
That's a good description, very descriptive.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
Ryan, Well, listen, I got the big Scott, biggest Scott
and Solac fans. So that one I'm Dad. Lapham Is
is fun for me, and that's the shtick. Scott zolac is,
he's a pea gets homer whatever. They had forty two
to thirteen Marcus Jones eighty seven yard punt return touchdown.
There are other teams also getting some special teams. Play
special teams has been one of the early storylines of
(30:10):
the NFL, has it not?
Speaker 5 (30:12):
Yes, not too much for the Broncos. Well, storyline that's
not been a good A good.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
One for several teams.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
Black Field goals, I mean, we're gonna play one of
those highlights. Covin' been a little bit. Black field goals,
punt returns, I mean, every single team. The Jacksonville Jaguars
are not three and one right now without their special
teams in the punt returns.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
Chicago Bear's gonna win.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
I mean, it's remarkable how big of a storyline field
goals especially have been.
Speaker 5 (30:37):
They say, all three phases of the game, you gotta
have them all put together in special teams.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
Critical.
Speaker 5 (30:43):
A mistake on special teams cost you a game. We've
seen it already this season for the Broncos.
Speaker 6 (30:48):
The Texans shut out the Titans of the eighteen handoff
forty left side fifteen ten five times into the end,
so his second touchdown of the day.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Ark Vandermere, Texas Texans Radio on Sports prea six' ten
on the call twenty six nothing over The.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
Titans i'm not a buying The, texans not.
Speaker 6 (31:09):
Really not.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Yet but The titans quite literally looked like the worst
team in. Football and it's really not.
Speaker 5 (31:16):
Close there's no Doubt texas if they needed a, win
and they needed a convincing, win just like The broncos
On Monday night needed to, win it needed to look
good doing. It, Texans i'm Not i'm not a buyer
yet on them.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Either over what a win for The rams over The.
Colts my.
Speaker 1 (31:33):

stat locked the ball left side two two's open hop.
Speaker 3 (31:38):

Speaker 1 (31:51):
Angeles is a close, game really good. Game it shouldn't
have been though The colts Eighty mitchell who of course
The broncos.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Saw oh he's Even howard announced his. Retirement brougs just.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
Plays Zavian howard like a couple of days, ago just
announced his retirement today after Facing Pooka, nakua who went
off in this game for thirteen catches one hundred and
seventy yards in a.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
Touchdown The colts. Slit two touchdowns go off the.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
Board Eighty mitchell drops the balls he's crossing the goal,
line and then he has a critical holding call on
A Jonathan taylor touchdown and it wasn't even necessary at.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
All taylor was gone and he still had the.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
Hole so Eighty mitchell cost The colts two touchdowns in
a chance to be.
Speaker 5 (32:30):
Four we Saw Jonathan taylor do the same thing for
The colts last year here In denver when The broncos played.
HIM i think The coults are. Legit they're a legit
factor in THE. Afc we saw it first game or
second game of the. Season we saw it up close and.
Personal they're going to be in the run here the entire.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Season should have won that, game but lastly, didn't which
is also good news for The broncos because it's THE.
Afc The Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
Jaguars you know, what there's, moments there's moments we didn't
think they were.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
Legit maybe they did some ten yard line made man miss.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
Twenty five thirty yard.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Line let's get a.
Speaker 6 (33:04):
Turble parker one to, TELL i think fifty forty thirty twenty.
Speaker 9 (33:08):
Fifteen to ten fuck? Touchdown parker was he just brought
it all the way.

this as a compliment WHEN i said these stol signs.
Speaker 5 (33:36):
Right also interesting with The, jags it looks Like Travis
hunter not playing.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
Defense it's. Weird it looks like he's more of a wide. Receiver.
Speaker 5 (33:44):
NOW i would assume they'll still continue to use him on.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
Occasion.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
Sparingly it's, weird very.
Speaker 5 (33:50):
Sparingly i'm not sure if he's a better wide receiver or.
CORNERBACK i stink maybe maybe wide receiver is his. POSITION
i don't, know.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
What do you.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
THINK i still think he's a, corner BUT.
Speaker 8 (34:04):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Know they're three and, one so you, know you don't
panic about.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
It it's like The eagles being four and, oh there's
nothing to panic about until you. Lose and the reason
you lose is because you didn't have enough firepower and.
Offense because there's still not even really getting things down
up With Brian, thomas who was their star rookie last,
year like that connection.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
Hasn't been there. Either but you're three and, one so
you know everything's.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
Okay there's a reason guys don't play both ways in THE.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
Nfl, yeah it's very. True.

Speaker 4 (34:46):
On fourth and.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
One, puke That's Mits, maltis who does a wonderful job
ninety six five to the fan and The Chiefs radio.
Network four passing touchdowns For Patrick, mahomes the first time
he's done this since twenty twenty, three by the, WAY i. Believe, so,
yeah they look pretty. Good for The ravens defense is
also really, bad, terrible.
Speaker 5 (35:04):
Terrible, yeah giving up over thirty points a. Game who
would have thought The ravens would be one in three
after four games remarkable With Lamar, jackson although now he's.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Hurt now he's it's coming off the rails for.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Them it is coming up.
Speaker 1 (35:18):

do you think of The raiders breath?
Speaker 3 (36:07):
Clicking?
Speaker 5 (36:07):
UH i don't think there'll be a factor in THE Afc.
WEST i think we could predict that already after four.
Games they're just not quite. THERE i think they're in
a bit of a rebuild. Mode, yeah you, know with
the new, coach AND i don't Think Geno schmith will
be back next.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Year let's do one more. Here we played to a.
Tie gotta play, This.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Brandon McManus a thirty four yarder for this game to
end in a.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
Tie snap spot kick is up and it is, good
