Speaker 2 (00:11):
Good afternoon, sir. How are you what's going on?

Speaker 3 (00:14):
How you guys doing.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
We're doing great, very very busy day for you, of course,
especially in Baltimore.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Ravens.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
I want to start there because the laundry list of
guys that were not participating today seems extreme.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Let's start well, I guess with Lamar Jackson here.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
I thought your point this morning, because there was a
report that he's going to be out two to three weeks.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
You push back on that a little bit.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
What do you got, Well, I mean, you know, as
far as the report goes, I mean, honestly, it wasn't.
It was just saying he might miss Sunday, he might
miss the next game, he might be out of two
to three weeks. Like if we know, we know, and
if we don't, like it's okay to say like he's
week to week and that is my understanding. Like they
have a game this week, him not being out there

(00:57):
for the Wednesday you know, first big practice of the
game week with a hamstring injury obviously points you to
potentially not playing. We don't know for sure, but that's
what it sort of points to. And then one more
game and then to buy so like if you want to,
you know, extend it out. It's possibly misses three weeks

(01:18):
with two games. It is possible, but he's gonna keep
being evaluated day by day and then that this week
will be evaluated next week. But you know, either way,
I mean every team sort of goes through this at
some point in degrees, but like that is a lot
of injuries, so a lot of really good players and
you know, health a lot of times can determine where

(01:39):
a team is. And the Ravens have been reeling. They're
gonna have to figure it out and they're gonna have
some challenges along the way.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
Ed Rick Lewis here a question about Tyreek Hill's injury. Uh,
it's starting to look like he may not only miss
this year, but at least a portion of next year.
And the tough part for the Dolphins is he's their
main asset that they could trade to get some talent
to kind of rebuild this team. So really tough luck,

(02:08):
not only for him but the franchise.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Yeah, I mean, I you know, I always obviously sort
of wondered if around the trade deadline he'd be someone
you could trade. Now, I mean obviously that's not going
to happen. I mean, it's you know, this is as
series as it gets. It's a multi ligament injury dislocated
me you know, basically means a tour either everything or

(02:32):
almost everything. And you know, the recovery time can be
twelve months. So is he gonna be ready for the
start to the season, to start the season, Like, I
don't know for sure. I don't know that anybody knows,
certainly not Tyreek Hill. I mean, the fact that he
was able to get you know, everything repaired in one
surgery yesterday is a good sign that you know, could

(02:55):
mean an accelerated recovery. But you know, ten months from
now is basically the start of the season, Like that
would be an unbelievable challenge. And even if he's ready,
how ready is he going to be? Right? So now
you know, contractually you do thirty six million dollars next year,

(03:15):
none of it is guaranteed, So you know, something is
going to have to change if he's going to remain
on the Dolphins. If he's not, then he's not. But
either way, I mean, there's there's a lot going on
with Tyreek Hill, and certainly a trade is no longer
no longer coming.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Ian Rappaport joining us, I want to get you read
on the Eagles situation. There was the message from AJ
Brown after the game. We know what the numbers look like.
They're thirtieth in yards, they're thirty first in passing, they're
even sixteenth in running. So certainly the numbers are not
what we're used to seeing with an elite team, but
they are four and oh. It's a weird situation with
the Eagles. What's you read on it?

Speaker 3 (03:54):
You know, that's what it's sort of always like with
the Eagles. And you know, there's a reason that it
takes a certain kind of person to the deal in
Philly because they're four and oh, and you know, all
the talk has been about why is the offense not
good enough? Whereas like every other team would love to
be foreigna. You know, they've gotten it done in different ways.
And I also would say, you know, when they've been

(04:16):
up on teams and they've sort of decided to go
a little more conservative, just trying to make sure to
get the win. Sometimes that negatively shows in the stats,
so like it's not you know, play calling doesn't exist
in a vacuum. It's always determined by other factors. You know.
The A. J. Brown thing was interesting to me. He

(04:36):
came up today and you know, kind of took ownership,
say it was frustrated, sort of apologize for that, which
I think is good. You know, that's sort of what
you want.

Speaker 5 (04:46):
But you know, until and unless he's a factor every week,
it's going to be an ongoing sort of saga for
the Eagles and you know, one of their best players.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
And there was a lot of hype of course around
the Broncos leading up to the season. Then they opened
one and two, seems like a lot of people jumped
off the bandwagon. Then a big win Monday Night against
a Joe Burrow, this Bengals team, it kind of feels
like the Broncos that two and two are still in
a pretty good position around the league. Do you feel

(05:18):
like the the the league's the still feels like the
Broncos are legit contenders this year?

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Yes. Now, I would also say I would also say that,
you know, the only real goal is to sort of
survive the first month, right, you get to two and two,
you get to evaluate, you get to figure out where
you are, you know, And they've gotten to a point

(05:49):
where I would say they're okay. They've played perfect, No,
but I think they are at least okay. And you know,
bo Nick says has played Alrighty has been a little better.
I think the defense balling to know, the defense is
going to be there. To me, everything is still out
there for them, and you know, we'll see what happens.

(06:12):
But I haven't seen anything that would make me think
they are not contenders.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Last couple here for you Ian Dylan Gabriel named the
starter today for the Browns. How long a leash is
that in your opinion for Dylan Gabriel, because again there's
a lot of coverage around their quarterback room.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
As you know, I don't think it's gonna be one game,
and I think for the you know, for the Browns,
it's really an interesting games because what they'd like to
do is evaluate for next year. They'd like to, you know,
try to win, and I think this is to get
them to win. I mean, Placo is not playing bad,

(06:49):
but the turnovers were bad. It was enough, and but
I think you know, they'd like to get enough of
a look, so you know, like do we have a
guy or do we not have a guy? Right? And
like quarterback's kind in all shapes and sizes, Dylan gave
her obviously a little shorter, obviously a little bit later
draft picked than you would think for most quarterbacks starting quarterbacks.
But you never quite know what you get until you

(07:10):
see him. So I would say, at least you're looking
at a multi game situation. But you know, I expect
him to take a look at everyone by the time
near ends, including should because until you get out there
on the bright lights, you just don't know what you have.
So I would say a couple of games, several games,
and then you know, go kind of reassess from there.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
Yeah, stick with the Browns here real quick. One more
question he and regarding sha Duor. We were just talking
about him. He seems to be not happy in the
third string quarterback role, and uh, is he a guy
that team would trade for or would they trade him
at some point? It's almost like he's trying to force

(07:54):
himself out of Cleveland right now, you know, I get.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
A different read. You know, look, I'm sure he wants
to play. I don't know that. I don't know that
anybody thinks he's ready to play right now. And that
is okay, Like, you know, what Shador Sanders is for
the Browns is a lottery ticket. Like if he if
he's a bust, okay, cool, he's a fifth round pick.
Who cares? Team has messed up fifth round picks all

(08:19):
the time. It doesn't matter less. But if you're gonna
you know, there is a possibility that he is a guy.
Like again, with quarterbacks, you just never know. I don't
get the sense they would trade him because like, what's
the point. What are you going to get for him?
A seven? You know, like, what's what's the point? Might
as well keep him as will develop him, might as
well see and you know, the reality is if he

(08:42):
gets good enough to just be the backup, if his
career ceiling is to be the backup quarterback for the
Cleveland Browns for the next four years, that is good
value draft pick wise, Like a fifth rounder to be
the backup quarterback costing zero dollars, that's pretty good. And
I also, you know, I think he wants to play

(09:04):
because everybody wants to play. But I don't really get
the sense he sort of disgrunt. So I think today
the miming thing him not answering questions was really about
him trying not to get in trouble, honestly, because last
time he spoke, he kind of said stuff and people like, oh,
you know, so I think it was more making sure
he stayed out of harm's way than anything else.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Makes sense. Ian appreciate you will check out in the
next week.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
All right, Thanks guys, take care, Thanks thank you.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
