Broncos React from two until nine pm on Sunday. So
I'm gonna need need you all of you to just
hang out with me and talk. So you know, despite
what I said at the first show about you're talking
on the phone and stuff like that, I actually need
people to want to call in and not long form
(00:41):
to text me two but the text this case on.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
I might seem to need some calls. Yeah, that's all.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Speaking of Sunday, catch Sunday's Broncos game with Benjamin Albright
and Nick Ferguson at Burned Down Denver off Broadway from
eleven to one and to win a Broncos Raiders Vegas trip.
It's all presented by arts At Tequila, the official tequila
of a Denver Broncos.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
What do you think about last night's game? Thursday Night Football?
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Yeah, gritty win by the Niners, gritty patching it together
with all those injuries. Incredibly well coached team. Kyle Shanahan
doing a really good job. I think, you know, coach
of the years and in his sights, if he can keep.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
This up, I know they're going to get some guys back.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Mac Jones, left for dead by a lot of pundits
and fans, really showed up, got beat up, rolled around
on the turf a little bit, writhing in pain, and
yet I was able to drag himself to his feet
and delivered the knockout blow.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
I thought it was pretty good. Hold on now, So
it was the way of the writing rounded page. Did
that bother you a little bit?
Speaker 4 (01:43):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
So so funny, okay, very quick, little whiney.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
So I saw Dave. I saw Dave out of Broncos.
So I was getting my interview. That was the first
thing he brought up too. He's like he's rolled around
out there on.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
The field and he was, and I was like, wait, wait,
he was hurts. It's like a soccer player. They got
to bring out the cryo spray for him. All good
to go is hilarious.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
You did you didn't know the day brought that was
the first thing that he said to He's like, oh,
he's out there, he's balling, but he's riding around in
the field. And I'll never let.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Him see a sweat. You don't want them to know
that you're in pain.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
So you got all these like former nflers watching the game,
like get.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Up, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
But he played some real good football, you know, and
and and some backups in there, and uh with George
kittle out and Brandon Ayuk and and Ricky Piersoll and
all those guys. You know, Kendrick Bourne just showed up
this week, I think, yeah. And Levin catches. And the
offense is not easy either, you know. Kyle Shanahan, like
(02:46):
his father and probably even more so, requires an attention
to detail.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
That's that's not easy.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
You got to get in your playbook, as they say,
And when you make a mistake, you face that Shanahanian
wrath with us there that can burn right through you.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
You don't want to be on the other end of that.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
But also you know, and for that reason, you study
really hard to make sure that you don't make any mistakes.
And so Christian McCaffrey, I mean, just jack of all
trades what he means to that offense, even after you know,
being questionable at the beginning of the season. You hear
this about the Achilles again and there are concerns and
for him to have be as involved as active in
(03:25):
that game, what a stud So I thought it was
a pretty incredible win by the Niners. But again the
Sofi thing. The Rams don't have home field advantage there,
the Chargers don't. It's they they call that place Levi South.
I believe it when the Niners play there because it's
sixty five percent.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Niner fans on the TV.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Yeah, you could hear, and it's embarrassing for those for
those fans who are supporting their home team in quotes.
And that's one of the risks you make when you
do the six billion dollars stadium, you know, kind.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Of price out the hard course.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
So you know what, it was an inch deal because
the final spread on the game, not that we had
to start gambling, but it was eight and a half, right,
everybody thought.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
The Rams were going to absolutely boat race the forty
nine ers.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
And if anything we've learned, not only just this year,
but anything in general of the NFL that that's not typical.
It's it's really not to the Broncos beating the Bengals
the other night the way they did, that's not that's
not typically how it goes. It's usually very close. It's
usually down to the final possession, in this case an
overtime game and the decision by Sean McVay that decided
to run it when Matthew Stafford has been doing whatever
(04:32):
he wanted in the passing game and.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Listen, I think that's fourth and one though I know.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
But Sean McVay, I mean, he called it a bad
call after the game, so I'm I'm allowed to and
they're showing it up on the screen that right now,
I'm allowed to say it was a bad call. I
didn't like to call in the moment, and then he
backed it up by saying this was a bad call
on my part.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Well, I think the call itself.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Having a couple receivers be the kind of point of
attack on like an insert play when they're supposed to
block down on those days. That's your mistake right there,
hoping a couple of smaller bodies are going to hold
up against the bigger ones. But I don't mind running
the ball on fourth and one like that if but
you know, maybe a touch push or something in the
Eagles probably would have picked it up. Eagles definitely would
(05:16):
have picked it up. But the Niners in the Rams
are always a tight game. So the eight and a
half point spreads is curious.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
It was ridiculous, and it doesn't it doesn't indicate at
all what that Kyle Shanahan Shom mcvail matchups have been.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
And Kyle Shanahan the way he prepares his team, you know,
they come out, he comes out at the beginning of
every week and he says, they have a what it
takes meeting, What it takes a w I t It's
it's the acronym that they kind of live by, and
he comes up with these bullet points of here's how
we are going to beat this team, and he distills
(05:50):
it down based on the film study and the game
planning to these kind of digestible things that you want
to focus on going into this game, and then harp
on those all week and oftentimes that's exactly how they
end up winning. I mean, he's able to almost foresee
exactly how the game is going to go.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
He's a football genius. He's a savant.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
He's able to you know, he's able to explain the
game in great detail everybody's position in a way like
he was their position coach, and a lot of coaches
don't do that. Most coaches don't. Most head coaches kind
of oversee. They give you the plan at the beginning
of the day, then they step out of the room
and they let their coaches coach and go over the
(06:28):
esoteric stuff. But he can do all of it, and
he often does in the meeting room with all the players,
so the other guys can hear it. So instead of
the dbs getting very detailed instructions and coaching points alone
in their dB room, he gives it to them in
front of the receivers who are trying to beat them,
so they can see how they're being coached and how
(06:50):
they're being taught to beat them. So when you hear
that stuff, it gives you a more kind of complete
concept of how the game goes, and you get a
whole more of a holistic understanding of what you're trying
to accomplish. A lot of young players focus only on
their job. What's my assignment here? Well, why are we
doing this? Why are you? Why do you have that assignment?
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Well, because it's affected by every other.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Guy's assignment, And once you start to understand everyone's assignment,
then your assignment becomes more crystallized and you understand what
we're trying to accomplish. And in games like that in
the fourth corner overtime, that shows up because you make
the right play at the right time because you're smarter
than the other team. So I think I think Sean
McVay does that some of that to an extent because
they're cut from the same clock. But he's doing a
(07:33):
fantastic job. Oh, undoubtedly, would you have I wouldn't have.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
But would you have considered kicking the field goal there
instead of going for and fourth and one?
Speaker 2 (07:44):
I would have gone forward to I mean, what are
you going to end in a tie?
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Well, because we just saw the game last weekend with
Dallas and ban Bay, where Green Bay now a little
bit I think slightly different situation. Right, you're at the
fourteen yard line for Dallas. There's one second left on
the clock.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
You basically have.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
One play and then you find the entire game and
you lose right there. Now, there's some coaches I think
probably do go for it. Say I'm not going for
a tie. We are not a we don't believe in this.
We're going to go for the win right now. If
we don't get it, we don't get it. Is what
it is in this case. Matt Lafleur said, no, it's okay,
we've played a hell of a game. Let's go ahead
and take the tie and we'll get out of here. Okay, fine,
that's fine. It's a road game. You get them getting
(08:22):
a tie. That is what it is in this case,
the fourth and one, I think you're right. I think
you have to go for it. There's like three minutes
and change left in the game. I mean, theoretically, you
kick the field goal and maybe you get a chance
to get the ball back right if you get to stop.
But you also risk the possibility that the forty nine
ers moved down the field and they kick the game winner,
and then you're.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Like, well, all right, well we could have won it there.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Instead we decided to kick the field goal, and you'd
be second guests kind of either way.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Yeah, I agree with that. Be aggressive in that moment.
And those guys just have battles. Those two guys, they
know each other very well.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
They're able to get inside one another's head game planning.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
It's always goes to the wire. And the Niners were
able to pull out a really gritty win. And there
four and one, four and one, pretty dunk good in
that division. That's remarkable. Yes, it might be the best
division in sports. Were three and zero in the division
they are.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
And and then I think every team, maybe the Artiseneral Cardinals,
I mean Arizona Cardinals are still pretty good team too,
but I think I know that the Seahawks are three
and one, three and two now for l A.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
And then yeah, the four West, it's pretty good division. Yep.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Mac Jones and his performance was, oh, you look good,
but he's out there right the ground and pay and
then Dave said the same thing. He say, yeah, he
look good, but he's out there pretend you know, not
pretending you say that. But he just look at my knee,
my leg, my leg, and then he went right back
in there and won the game. Yeah, there was an
(09:56):
interesting moment after the game where he was asked. I
don't know if you saw this, but he was asked
if he thinks he should be the starting quarterback.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Oh, I think this is first of all question.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Yeah, a little bit of a gotcha question, like for
the media, come on, we can do better than this.
I mean, I understand you feel like you have to
ask these questions. You have to see what his response is.
But what is he going to say. I guess he
could pull a shot or standers in mine his answers.
But Matt Jones on if he should be the starter
for the forty nine ers going.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
Forward, I think you know, they brought me here to
play as a backup, and that's my job. And Brock's
the starter of this team and right now he's dealing
with something and for him to go out there last
week and play when you know he probably wasn't a
full full health like he cares about this team, So
I'm just trying to get some wins for him, so
it helps us down the line. And at the end
(10:48):
of the day, that's what it's all about. Like I've
been in his position, I've been a starter, and you
want your backup to go in there and win because
at the end of the season, that could be the
hit or missed between a playoff or not.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Yeah, that's a good answer. Yeah, it's the right answer.
I just want to help the team. Yeah, whatever I
can do to help the team. Yeah, it's got to
be the right answer.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
And you understand, like if you play in this game,
you're probably playing it to be a starter and to
get the most reps you can because you understand the
window of your life and you can speak to this
better than me, but you understand the window of time
that you get to play the game is really relatively narrow.
Now as a quarterback, maybe it's a little bit longer,
you get it a little bit longer. Runway guys play
into their forties now. But for mac Jones, what this
(11:30):
was always about was about rehabilitation and then getting an
opportunity kind of like Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield and
some of these other quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
So that's why you choose to go play for Kyle Shanahan,
isn't it.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Yeah, similar to the Sean Payton, you know, influence, You
get to get some really good coaching, get some really
good knowledge, some good experience, just practice being in film
sessions like I was talking about the details that you
may not learn elsewhere, and then you can take them
and have some success or at least have a better
understanding of the game and put yourself in a better pasce.
Quarterbacks a unique position in that there's only one of
(12:03):
them who plays. You know, there's multiple receivers that play
in a game, running backs, offensive line, everyone, everyone. The
kicker is kind of like the quarterback. But you can
suit up for a game and never step on the field.
You know, the other guys who are quote unquote backups
still have a role on special teams. They're still getting dirty,
they're still out there doing something. You know, forty five
(12:24):
guys suit up for the game, forty four of them
are out there pretty much. Maybe there's a couple offensive
linemen now because of the new kickoff rules that aren't
out there, But it used to be those you'd have
some offensive linemen in the wedge back there on kickoff
returned right, right right, But those guys aren't out there anymore.
So there's probably a couple of linemen that don't step
on the field. Other than that, everyone's out there and
(12:45):
the quarterbacks just got to wait for his turn and
all of them believe they can, if given the chance,
can be the man. Jerystidham, you know, believes he can
be a starter in this leak.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
He said as much.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Yes, he's here to support support Bo, but if he
were to get the opportunity, he'd try to run with
it and play well enough to supplant Bow and make
people say BO who right.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
They all want to be out there, But.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
He's not gonna say that, no, and he doesn't want
to even to intimate that he's there, even if we
all understand the job.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
Absolutely so, and that's part of being a good teammate, yes,
you know. And then that's why this shoud or standard
stuff is so troubling, and that's why he slid to
the fifth round, and that's why people are just kind
of irritated by it because you know it's going to
cause the story. You know it's going to cause a story.
You know it's going to bring attention to you into
this this quagmire, and so just say the right thing, man,
(13:35):
keep it moving.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
And I was talking with Grant before the show specifically
about that and in relation to what mac Jones said,
and I said, even if it's cliche, just say the
cliche sing, hey, I'm here's support Dylan Gabriel and do
the best I can to help help.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
This team win.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Yeah, and you could even say you'd be like Marshawn Lynch,
I'm just here so I'm not gonna get fined. You
could say it like that fifteen times in a row,
and yet people are going to do whatever they want
with it. But the spectacle becomes what you did, and
the spectacle becomes, well, I think I should be starting
in this league as a third string quarterback who's drafted
in the fifth round. Like that's the spectacle. And most
(14:13):
teams don't want that in their third string quarterback. No,
because what happens when you make him your first string quarterback?
How's he going to handle a loss? How's he going
to handle some prickly moments? Is he gonna throw his
players under the bus? He did it at CU.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
He talked about the offensive line and things like that.
So you are the CEO of the team. You have
to be a leader. You have to talk like the leader.
You have to inspire the guys to come behind you
and not be divisive. And that's a divisive tactic there.
And so you know, hopefully he learns from it.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Dave Sengaro, who covers the Eagles for NBC Sports, Dave,
you're on with Ryan Edwards and Nate Jackson.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
How are you.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
I'm doing well, guys.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
How We're doing great?
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Obviously very at this game, you guys, you know, undefeated
Super Bowl champions. Is everybody happy out there in Philly?
Or are you still doing Santa Claus?
Speaker 5 (15:09):
Yeah? I mean, no one's ever completely happy here, and
it's not just the fans. I mean the players themselves
have not been pleased with the standard they've played here
this year. They're four and oho, but some tight games,
some bad haves in there. They're finding ways to win,
and there's an art in that, and I think they
deserve credit for that. But I you know, I think,
(15:29):
to a man in that locker room right now, they're
especially on offense. I haven't been completely thrilled with the
way they've played through four games.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
So yeah, kind of lackluster offensive performance through four games,
but they found a way to win anyway.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
So where do you think it's going to go from here?
Speaker 3 (15:43):
Do you think the offense is going to figure it
out and then they're going to be even more potent?
Or is the offense going to just kind of piddle
along like this and they're not going to get as
lucky late in game and start losing games.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
Yeah, it's a good.
Speaker 5 (15:56):
Question, and like from a more holistic standpoint, it kind
of reminds we have the Chiefs last year, where you know,
they're winning all these close games and you're going, there's
no way they can do this the whole season, and
then they end up in.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
The super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
So we'll see what happens with this team. But offensively,
you know, they bring back ten of eleven starters from
the team last year, but there were some issues throughout
the season. You know, you win the Super Bowl and
everyone kind of looks back on the season through these
rose colored glasses, and it wasn't perfect throughout the season.
There were some serious questions about the offense, specifically the
(16:29):
passing offense into December last year. So I think some
of these issues have persisted a little bit. I think
the bigger problem for the offense this year that wasn't
a problem last year is that their run game hasn't
been as effective. You know, last year, the passing offense
wasn't great. It was kind of inconsistent, but they were
able to lean on the run. They had a great
offensive line. Taekwon had an all time season two thousand
(16:53):
yard rusher. They haven't been able to run the balls
effectively this year, so I think a lot of those
blemishes offensively are a little bit brighter this year. You're
seeing them show up a little bit. So yeah, I
mean they have to figure it out. They're too talented
to play to the level they've played so far. You
have a quarterback making a ton of money, you have
two stud receivers and AJ Brown and Devonte Smith. You
(17:13):
have maybe the best running back in the world in
Saquon Barkley. The offensive line hasn't been as healthy as
we're used to, but still a lot of talent up
front too, So I think it's really on the coaching
staff to figure out how to make this thing work.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
What's been the fan reaction to AJ Brown and some
of his social media antics and otherwise.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
Yeah, you know, AJ's an emotional guy and he's so
darn good. I mean, he's one of the best receivers
in the world, and you know, I think fans understand
their frustration. They'd probably prefer him to handle it a
little differently. This is not the first time he's gone
on social media and cause a little bit of a stir.
But as far as the frustration itself, I kind of
(17:53):
get it. I mean, he's not being utilized the way
he probably should be. He came into the season to
really prove himself as one of the best, if not
the best, receiver in the NFL, and I, you know,
I think he's that talented. It's just the offense has
not really done much to help him out with that.
So the frustrations warranted. Does he have to do it
(18:15):
on social media? Probably not the best way to go
about it. But we talked to him this week and
he didn't back down from the frustration part of it, right, Like,
he still thinks that the offense needs to be better.
And the funny part about this whole thing is that
DeVante Smith is right there with them. It's just he
didn't tweet about it. You know, he talked to us
today and he expressed a lot of the same things
(18:36):
AJ told us earlier in the week. The only difference
is he waited a while to do it and didn't
get on his phone Sunday night, and that goes a
long way. But you know, as far as the concerns
that Aj feels, I don't think those.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Are him alone.
Speaker 5 (18:51):
And it's you know, everything comes with the caveats that
they're four and oh right, they're winning these games, but
they know it needs to be better because they're not
a team that wants to get to the playoffs. Their
a team that wants to win another Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
So Sean Payton, head coach of the Broncos, had a
lot of praise for Vic Fangio in the job he's
doing with the Eagles defense. Vic Fangio is a head
coach here a couple of years back, and now he
seems pretty happy there in Philly.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Can you talk about the job he's done with that
defense there?
Speaker 5 (19:19):
Yeah, I mean he's been spectacular, and you know, he
came back to Philly. He's obviously as Pennsylvania roots. He
comes back to Philly, wants to finish his career here.
It's like a nice story. And then last year he
has the best defense in the NFL and just kind
of a master class from him. Last season, he gets
Zach Bond, who was you know, kind of a fringe
(19:40):
NFL player at that point, like a special teams guy,
turns him into the best linebacker in football. They go
out and draft Quina Mitchell Cooper Gen. Those guys were
great in year one, they're better in year two. Jalen
Carter takes a big step. Like all these players just
got better and better at the young defense, and we're
seeing it again in year two. They lost pieces from
(20:01):
the Super Bowl, guys like Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, Darius Slay,
but they've reloaded and you know, even it's funny. Last
week they gave up a bunch of yards to the Bucks,
but I thought it was their best performance of the
year so far. It started to look like the version
of the defense we saw in twenty twenty four, and
right now that defense is kind of carrying the entire team.
(20:22):
I've been really impressed by him, his ability to get
the most out of his players, but also to game
plan and scheme week to week. It's been truly.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
Remarkable to watch Dave Dengarl joining us here covers the
Eagles for NBC Sports.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
Is it super Bowl or bust for the Eagles this year?
Speaker 1 (20:41):
I mean, anything less than that would be considered a disappointment, right.
Speaker 5 (20:46):
He I mean, I guess it depends who you ask
but the expectations are high and they should be. I mean,
this is, in my estimation, the most talented roster in football.
And you know, there's a lot of factors that go
into a health obviously is one of them. And they
were lucky to be very healthy last year, as they
weren't twenty two as well when they got to the
Super Bowl. But you yield at the collection of talent
(21:08):
and that should be the expectation. It's a tougher schedule
this year, but they've already gone through four really tough
games with wins and things they need to improve. But yeah,
I mean I think that they're not looking at it
like that. They're really trying their best to take it
one game at a time, which is a cliche, but
if you can kind of approach it like that, it
(21:30):
goes a long way. But you step back and you think, Okay,
I mean, this is a team that the window is
clearly open. They just have to get out of their
own way sometimes. But if they do that, yeah, I
think that is the expectation is that they should be
competing for.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
A Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
So Cooper de Gene, the cornerback, is leading the team
in tackles, which is kind of unusual. Can you talk
about that defense and where they might be vulnerable. I mean,
that's a, like I said, an unusual stat there. Typically
it's a linebacker and it means, you know, maybe it
means that they're allowing these underneath catches and just tackling.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
Well, what have you seen.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
From this defense that kind of contributes to that statistic.
Speaker 5 (22:09):
Yeah, it's funny because normally that's not a good thing
when you see a cornerback leading the team in tackles.
But with Cooper gen it's a little different. He's playing
the nickel spot most often, so he's kind of in
the mix of all the action, and he is such
a sound tackler, so many of his tackles come pretty
close to the line of scrimmage, if not tackles for loss.
He's been excellent. If there's one weakness on this defense,
(22:32):
it's the second cornerback position. They have Cooper Gene mostly
playing inside on nickel downs. They have Quenya Mitchell, who's
an ascending superstar in my opinion, at one of the
outside corner spots. He's been traveling with top receivers. That
second cornerback spot has not been strong It's a spot
vacated by Darius Slay in the offseason. Isaiah Rodgers also
(22:54):
left as a free agent. He's been playing really well
for the Vikings, so they started the year with a
Dory jack In former Giant, former tighten in that spot.
Last week, Hey Ringo, who former fourth round pick, got
the start. I think there's a good chance he starts
again in this game. But that's the spot if you're
able to as an offense, you want to try to attack.
It makes it tougher if you're limited weapon wise, then
(23:18):
you have Quinya Mitchell on your best receiver. Kind of
like what we saw last week with the Bucks. They
had a mecha Buka and Quinnon just kind of sucked
to him all game.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
Last one I got for you, Dave, really appreciate the time.
As far as this matchup goes between the Broncos and Eagles,
how do you think Eagles fans are feeling about this
or you guys kind of and in some ways maybe
looking past the Broncos a bit.
Speaker 5 (23:40):
You know, I don't think the Eagles themselves are looking
past the Broncos. It's one thing I've been really impressed
during the Nick Siriani era, you always hear about track
games and what they might mean, and certainly like this
is on paper, it could be a considered a trap
game for the Eagles. They just came off a win
in Tampa place that's given them a lot of trouble
a a division game next week on a short week,
(24:01):
So all the telltale signs are there for a trap game,
but they haven't been caught in those traps under Nick Sirianni,
which I give him a lot of credit for. I
think that's coaching making sure your players are ready each
and every week. As far as like the fans competence,
you know, not in a negative way. I don't think
the fans are thinking about the Broncos. They're more thinking
(24:23):
about the Eagles and what they need to do to
clean up some of what's kind of prevented them from
playing to their standards so far this year. So I
think they appreciate and recognize that it's a very good
defense come to town. But I think the Eagles do
it this way too, like if they can get out
of their own way, if they can do the things
they need to do, I'm not sure that they really
(24:44):
worry about the opponent as much. As just doing what
they're supposed to do.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
I think that makes a lot of sense. Really appreciate
the time. Great insight, Dave, Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Man.
Speaker 5 (24:53):
All right, guys, take care.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Davis and Garl with NBC Sports Philly. Really good stuff there.
We'll get to our pick them here a second. But yeah,
it makes sense most of the time, and especially I
think early in the season when we've asked some of
the guys in different cities when we're previewing this thing, Hey,
what do you think about the Broncos? Or are people
saying about the Broncos? I think it's kind of the
same way as here. We're spending most of our time
(25:15):
talking about this team and how they can get better
because it is very early in the season, much more
so than the matchups.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
Yep, interesting stuff that he said there. You know, when
I heard him talking about where they're vulnerable. I see
Sean Payton up in his coach's office after midnight with
the black light going watching film and he has a.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Plan to attack this guy. I promise you that.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Okay, So his temptation is going to be to go
attack through the air, and I just hope that he
pumps the brakes on that a little bit and and
establishes the run because you know it'll open up as
the game goes on.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
He knows that he knows more than I do. But
you can get a little excited.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
You want to fire your guns right away, you know,
get Bo comfortable with a simple game plan. It's gonna
be loud, hostile territory. Keep it simple. Let Bo hand
the ball off. JK Dobbins, JK Dobbins, R J JK
JK RJ okay, and then we'll hit that guy. Don't
put too much on Bow's plate and go think you
(26:18):
got to hit a home run in the first play.
But I think it could be a good game for
Troy Franklin or Marvin Mims. This could be one of
those where they go off excited to see it.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
You just got to roll up your sleeves. Yep, thank you, coach.
You want to look at some of the other games, sure,
all right, let's get to our Week five preview here.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
We'll start in London. Minnesota is still out there. Went
back to pass over.
Speaker 5 (26:41):
In the middle pot it is Josh Oliver.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
Minnesota Bike Games streak down the field on the undefeated Bengals.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
That's Paul Allen KFA N Minnesota Vikings Radio Network. So yeah,
Minnesota stuck around out there after losing to Pittsburgh because
they didn't want to come home just yet.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
And now they're gonna face Dylan Gabriel of the Browns.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
How unusual is that they have them playing two consecutive
London games.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
It is the first time. Is there gonna be a
franchise out there at some point? Oh, Ireland? That's right.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
They did lion Less, but they stuck the dust round
out there. Okay, exactly, Yes, yes, I believe.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
So.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
I believe the the NFL is very intense on having
a footprint out there, more so than just visiting.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
They'd like to have teams out there Consisto.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
Yeah, good luck in your free agents to sign out there.
You're gonna have to incentivize them.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
So what do you like in this game? Actually?
Speaker 1 (27:36):
Like?
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Yeah, I like Minnesota. I like Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
I think Dylan Gabriel exciting for the young man to
get his first start. But that's a tough trip. That's
a tough first start to get out there in London.
I'm going with Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
I am as well, Grants, I like the Browns.
Speaker 6 (27:52):
And that's when I think Minnesota comes back across the pond.
Oh and two, and what a horrible matchup for the
fans over Europe.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
I don't know any better.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
It's the first time, though, as I understand it, to
have a quarterback making their debut out there in UK.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
I did play NFL Europe in Germany, and I know
this is a little bit different, but I was playing
for the Ryan Fire and Dusseldorf and the fans in
the stands didn't always know when to cheer, and they
all had whistles, which was very confusing.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
Better than Boozela's I guess, And yeah, a little bit different.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
The Colts hosting the Raiders. Daniel Jones under center, I formation.
They give it to Taylor right up the gut, big hole.
Forty cuts back to.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
Us like spinning up fields, still going, He's at twenty.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
It's a fan nice event. One Hank f m Indianapolis,
Matt Taylor on the call. There so Indianapolis favored by
six and a half at home hosting the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
Grants, how do you feel.
Speaker 6 (28:49):
I think this is a big win for the Colts
and anytime we can get a Raiders loss in Broncos Country.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
That's a good day. Well, I'm with you. I like
the Colts. I like the Colts big in this game.
What about you? I like the Colds. Danny Dunns.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
The resurgence is inspiring and the Vegas Raiders are not inspiring.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
I think they're going to go there and lan turn. Okay,
you can't.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
Get that analysis anywhere else in town.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
I promise Stave Jackson.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
The Houston Texans caught maybe a bit of a break
here versus the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
First down of the eighteen hand off forty wet side
fifteen ten five, dies into the head song his second touchdown.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Of the day. Mark Vandermir, Texas Radio on Sports Radio six'.
Ten they are now favored In.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
BALTIMORE i would have been interested to see what this
line was when we Thought Lamar jackson was going to,
Play but it does not look like he's going to.
Go a lot of players missing For, baltimore especially on
the defensive side of the. Ball houston now favored in
this game by one and a. Half what do you, Think?
NATE i Think baltimore is gonna win this.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
GAME i think they're gonna figure out that they have
the best running back or one of the best running
backs On earth and actually give it to. Him they're,
NOT i mean to fall off to their running back
in first and second down for some, reason whatever, reason
because they've Had lamar back there and they're trying to
do too much With lamar.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Out is going to take it back to. BASICS i
think it's going to be A Derek henry. GAME i
think they get to. Win all, right what do you, Think?
GRANTS i think the same.
Speaker 6 (30:13):
THING i Think Derek henry is going to have a big,
day AND i Think Cooper rush is going to look.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Formidable he's gonna look.
Speaker 6 (30:18):
Good enough for The ravens to get a win at
home and keep their season.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
Alive texas have not been.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Impressive shutting out The titans doesn't really do much for.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
Me they're one in.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Three this is a big game for both of these.
Teams both teams won in three is a massive. GAME
i like what you guys just had to. That i'll
Roll ravens, here even though my judgment tells me it
probably should be The, texans BUT i Like ravens a
really good.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Game Buccaneers seahawks first.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
And ten at the twelve play fake D, Walker sam
rolls out near, side.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Throws me got, Down. Sayhawks jackson fits and check off
some twelve yards.
Speaker 1 (30:55):

really GOOD nfc matchup. Here buccaneers just falling To philadelphia
in a bit of a shootout.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Late games shootout for that one In.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Seahawks, course they's got a big win On Thursday night,
football so they've had some.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Rest now do you Think?
Speaker 6 (31:16):
GRANT i think because of that rest and some injuries
to The, BUCKS i like The seahawks at home to
move to four and, one not SOMETHING i saw coming
at the beginning of the.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Year both teams are pretty. Scrappy what do you, Think, Nate,
yeah some scrappy.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
Quarterbacks as, well some guys, journeymen guys who were left
for dead on other teams that have found a. HOME
i do Think Tampa bay those first three weeks are
really emotional, games and they're kind of a little bit
worn out right. NOW i think That seattle has the advantage.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
HERE i take The. Seahawks i'm gonna.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Go buccaneers just even with Little bucky. Out even With bucky,
Out Rashaun white's gonna be just fine for.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Them and there's.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
Something About Baker. Mayfield you just can't count them. Out
they just kind of mak'm he's gonna take a.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Comeback this is not gonna Be buccaneers.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
Blowout it's gonna Be buccaneers lay in the fourth, quarter
making a couple of plays and winning this. GAME i
think this is the OxT will, Legit BUT i just
think The buccaneers have that mentality The bengals for two
and Two Bengals.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
Day i'm, Sorry, GRANT i can play At Bagels. Highlight

awaken our fear of the beast that has owned our
dreams for so. Long you gotta go with The chiefs
