Speaker 1 (00:00):
Selling Zeros or kay common spirithal text line.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Broncos Country Tonight returns at six o'clock this evening. Well,
Benjamin Albright will be back with us and ripping into
Justin Fields as he continues his.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
His parade if you will. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
He's been looking forward to this all season long, this
matchup between the Broncos and the Jets, and.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
He views this as as the easiest.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Win possible, which I think it is easier than what
you just saw against the Philadelphia Eagles, certainly easier than
playing the Colts of the Chargers.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
But I don't think there's.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Anything particularly easy or given in the NFL, and that's
part of the reason we love it so much.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Well, there's not too much that is easily done in
the NFL.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
But I think this whole thing between him and young
Jets Zach Seegers have gone to higher level and they
both relish in the demise of their opposing quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Very sure in this case.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
You know, I know Zack Seger has this thing for
Russell and Ben has this thing for Fields. Well, this week,
Ben is going to get the better of Young Seegers
because Fields is going to be under a large amount
of duress by the hands of Nick Benito and John
de Cooper, not to mention DJ Jones and Zach Allen.

(01:22):
So young seegers, let me just go ahead and say
this early. Go ahead and prepare yourself because Ben is
gonna come after you.

Speaker 5 (01:30):
And it's a good point because Russell Wilson, of course,
this week will be under a zero duress because he's.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Riding the pine.

Speaker 5 (01:36):
I don't know how I've I've lost this or how
this week won't be in my favor Justin Fields could
play horribly.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
He's still a starting quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
I've won the bet, yeah, but.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Until he actually wins the game, yes, you have not.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
No, I've already won.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
Well, I'm leading the touchdown one pretty comfortably with the wins.
I will say, it's funny that we have this bet
about starting quarterback wins and the one team and all
the one that quarterbacks still in the running is part
of the only win list team in the league.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
It's it's poetic just just saying.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
So Ben's going to uh win and he's going to
pretts around like a peacock.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
He's gonna win one because because Russell Wilson got one.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Russell Wilson didn't get anything.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Oh, he didn't win, Jackson Dar.

Speaker 5 (02:16):
He needs Russell Wilson to win some games, and he
needs Russell Wilson to.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Throw for a lot of touchdowns. He's like four behind
at this point.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Well, Dart is not. I mean, he's shrending in the
direction of not playing this.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
No, he's playing be a full Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
I guess here's the idea.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
Will he finished the entire game because he's at the Hamshring.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
He's kinda.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Hilts all on Monday. He's fine.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Okay, so does here for as the Gray Sea Batlaer
would say, we'll see. Yes, a couple of texts year
on the text line, I do want to get to him, uh,
and then we're gonna hear I always love it.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
I want to shout out Dave Tepper for doing this.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
He pulled the highlights from both teams of the Amari
de Marcado run.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
They sound entirely different.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
They sound entirely different, and I can't wait to play
them for you. And then we'll talk about that for
a second, and then we'll talk about the defense, because
I gotta give you some love on the defense. Somebody says,
as someone who listens every day. Don't let Nick gaslight you.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Ryan. He definitely said you don't give a crap about
the defense. I know he does.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
I know he has said that he has. He doesn't
want to admit to it, but Nick has absolutely said
that I don't give the defense enough love.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
So I'm going to give them some love. We are
going to give them some lave.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
I don't recall or I don't have recollection. The definition
of is of making such a saintan Sure, yes.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
I believe you. I believe that you don't recall that.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
I don't recall it.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
But if somebody that's worked with you enough, I do
recall you being like you're whatever, that is what.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Your recall can be off too.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Now, I mean no, unless there's some audio that you
can play then as though it never happened.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Somebody's saying that I am not decisive in my responses.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
I tend to dance.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
It's around my answers, akin to answering, so as not
to offend or hurt someone's feelings.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Lots of hymns and hans. I mean, I think it's
just part of my charm.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
That's what we're calling it.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
And I think some of it oftentimes is just a
mess with Nick being honest.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Oh, that's that's what it is.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Yeah, I just like to I like to play both
sides if you will.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
And I think that's exactly what the text are saying,
because you put your Freda Stair's shoes on all the time.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Okay, part of my charm. People love Fredstaire, Yes, dancing
with Ginger Rogers.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
I don't know if they love me, No, they but
people might be entertained by it.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
Well, I mean, obviolustely tap dancing can be entertaining for
those who love it, in which.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
You do a lot.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Well, anyways, I'm just trying to be fun. I'm not
trying to offend you, or maybe I am. All right, So.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Before we get to the defense, So this is so
everybody knows by now the Amri de Mercado seventy one
yard run fumble.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
At the goal line.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Now, do you want to hear the Arizona call first,
the Tennessee call first.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Let's see the Tennessee call first.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
You hear the Tennessee call first, the Tennessee Titans.

Speaker 6 (05:13):
Here we go, De Marcado, easy first down run, Penny's
three forty thirty twenty.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Ten five touchdown.

Speaker 6 (05:24):
Seventy two yards for a Mari de Marcado does a
single back power.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Oh, hold on a second, coach, I'm sorry to interrupt you.
De Marcado dropped the football.

Speaker 6 (05:37):
As he was going into the end zone, and this
is gonna be really interesting. De Marcado fumbled the football
out of his left hand before he crossed the goal line.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
It's a fumble through the end zone.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
You know, I really, I gotta be honest, and I
did not comment on playby That was a WGFX Taylor
Zarjar with Titans Radio. You guys haven't had a lot
go right. I feel like there should have been a
little more celebration there, like.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Oh, I'm like, can you believe this?

Speaker 1 (06:06):
We're gonna win this game.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Which, of course at that point it was still a twenty.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
One to six game, so maybe you don't know.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
But I just thought, because everything has been bad this year,
you're a winless Titans team, you've gotten no breaks. Of course,
they ended up getting a break later on as it
ball was intercepted and then fumbled.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Into the end Zune.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
It's ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
There's like four moments in this game, like four of
them did you see Kyler Murray's intentional grounding where he
just like sidearmed it.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
What he that was the football gods just saying, you
know what, we're gonna tempt fade, We're gonna.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
Try to help them.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
And when you've lost so much, it is it's hard
to be really enthusiastic about certain things.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
I mean, get apparently it just feels like wandering through
the desert. Eventually, when there's just a drop of moisture,
as in Amari de Mercando fumbling the ball all crossing
the you think that.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
It's a mirage. It's not real.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
And I guess they still could have lost twenty one
to six, and then it would have been like, all right,
well remember that moment there. I guess we went a
little two over the top. I just I feel like
you're desperate enough to get something positive in your direction.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
You don't want to build up expectations only to be
let down like that.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
The lowered expectations.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
There, well, yeah, I mean Ben has a PhD in it.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
So I mean, yes, yeah, so that's exactly you lower
the bar. So when he get whatever you do something good,
it's like, oh my god, it's insat to all.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
You did was tie your shoes.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
It's basically what he tells all his dates. Why here
is the Arizona call.

Speaker 7 (07:46):
Team Rcato up the middle, got the first down and
more up for the race is fifty forty thirty, twenty
ten all the way for the touchdown, seventy two yards
on third down and one Tamrcado with a host call
Demrcado gets a little loose.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
At the ball at the end. He does cross the end,
but sneed chase it down.

Speaker 7 (08:05):
Knocks the ball out right at the goal line, but
it seems like it is a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Well, we've got some bad news, folks. What the ball
and it started to leave his hand before he crossed
the goal line. Therefore it's not a touchdown. Is not
a touch And that was way better. That was a
lot more entertaining.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Thank you to Dave Patch and AQ Chip Shipley with
the Arizona Cardinals radio network, Kate MVP.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
That was a lot more entertaining.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
It's some fantasy owners went from celebrating to what.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
I was one of them. I wired up de Mercado
in a few leagues.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
There's a lot of injuries at running back this time,
and you get to a point where you're like, hey, man,
this guy's out there. He's gonna play more snaps because Trey,
Trey Benson, and James Connor are down. And I ended
up being the Mike Carter Show. It's good running back,
and he's probably gonna still be the guy. They didn't

(09:09):
cut de Mercado, but there's a lot of people out
there saying they should cut demarcatto.

Speaker 4 (09:13):
With that being said, and I've talked, I've spoken to
a couple of people. I know, some of the former
teammates who had demccartera on their fantasy football team and
he lost in the game.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
By not crossing, you know, the go line with the
ball in his hands.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
And uh, they were quite reasonable about the altercation on
the sideline. They were okay with what happened with Johnathan Gannon.
So you and I have not talked about this. Were
you okay with that?

Speaker 2 (09:42):
I was not, in fact, And I don't want to
do the whole segment like we did last night because
Rod and I got into it and I got called
it all sort of snowflake and all sorts of other
words I cannot repeat.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
What does that even mean?

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Well, they're just saying I'm soft like I got called soft.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
I got called I don't know if I was well
because I said that coach shouldn't put his hands on
a player.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
He shouldn't, A coach should never do that.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Well, see, I'm happy to hear that, because I thought
all sanity had left the world when I'm talking to
Dave Logan and to Rod Smith, who I both I
respect both very very much, but they had this kind
of old school mentality about it, like, yeah, a coach
absolutely could and should put his hands on a player.
And then I tried to get Rod, and I tried

(10:24):
to get Rod to say, okay, well, what what's.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
The line, Like, can he punch a player?

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Like?

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Is that okay?

Speaker 3 (10:31):
He said, and did slap him in the chest once.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Yeah, and so so for Rod, he said he was
more than okay with it.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
He encouraged it.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Really. Yeah, that is really hard to believe.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
I got called names, but whatever.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
Let me tell you there's no reason for a coach
to put his hands on the player, even though it
has happened.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
It has happened to me in high school.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
My DV coach grabbed my face mask and all I
could do is laugh because I couldn't believe a person
was this upset where they're just snatching and yelling and
spits coming out of their face, but to hit the player,
a grown man in the professional league. Now, what happened
is Dean Micardo decided to haul off and punch you back. Now,

(11:19):
Dean maccarter can't get the job in.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
The NFL for life.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
Yes, he's done, he's cooked. He's blackball.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
And for me, there's no room forward, and there's no
room to even suggest that that is I.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Should even be allowed.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
Dave and Rod, I know they're old school guys, and
I've had a couple of old school coaches myself. Well,
you don't do that because if you do that to me,
now you're open for me to do it to you.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
And you know now you're saying, this is what.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
We're doing because violence begets violence, and I can understand
being a grown man. Imagine another growl man in union
chess and you're suppoted to stay in there and take it.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Yeah, the people that I actually had somebody text me
last night on the show when we were doing it saying, well,
he has pads for a reason.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
What does that mean?

Speaker 4 (12:10):
So whomever that text was last night, if you have
a son in high school, a son playing pop born
in football, and the coach smacks him in the chest.
Oh yeah, pads on you running and you're going to
sprint as far as you can to get a piece
of that God.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Last thing I want to say, and I think you're
making fantastic points. I kind of wish you were here
for this litigation that we had last night, because.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Well, you can save this and play it back forth.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
I might have to.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
I might have to, I said to you in the break.
It's very obvious to me covering the league. As long
as they have that people continue to not view football
players as people like you're for our entertainment and our consumption,
and I don't really care what happens to you afterwards, right,

(12:55):
I mean, whatever you shoot yourself up with, or however
many concussions and you can't keep your mouth closed, I
mean I don't. It tends to be not really surprising
when responses are that way, because it tends to be
more of like, well, I see you on TV or
I go to the games, and you're performing for me,

(13:15):
and that's what you are. You're a performer. You're not
a person, And so we take the humanity out of it.
You know, you have the humanity back in, which is
kind of where I was coming from it. We had
the humanity back in, like this is a person here,
and so he made a mistake. There were a lot
of mistakes. I just pointed a four that happened in
this game that were so egregious. This one was almost
directly led to it. But even then you were still

(13:37):
up twenty one to six in the fourth quarter. Arnie,
are you not a good team? Are you not a
good team that should be able to clean things up
and win this game? You still have plenty of opportunity
to do that. And I guarantee the players inside the
locker room where they might have been upset, for sure,
it's a Maria Mercado. He's obviously upset. I guarantee those

(13:57):
guys aren't saying you're the reason we lost this game,
because they can also point to themselves as well.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Here's a couple of things. Last year, the same thing
happened to Jonathan.

Speaker 4 (14:07):
Taylor here where clearly the Coults could have ran away
with the game against the dere Broncos. I did not
see Chane Steichen, who coached with John mc Galen with
the Philadelphia egos.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
I did see him do that to Jonathan Taylor.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
And then also from the part of the fans, they
look at it like, this is the Roman colisseum. You
are here to entertain us, So you are not technically human.
You are an asset to be bought and traded in
fantasy football. So that's where the level of frustration has
continued to increase with the sport, as sports book betting

(14:45):
has grown.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
With the sport.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
So we don't see you as a human being. No, no, no, no.
You don't have a family. You don't have a wife,
you don't have a mother, None of that happens. Only
thing that matters is my satisfaction, my own personal satisfied
in our agreement.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
It's the only transactional that's it. That is the new fandom,
and it.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
Sucks, well, at least for me as a media member
that you tend to not want to be a part of.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
I appreciate your perspective.

Speaker 4 (15:17):
Well, well, thank you for talking from all right.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
I gotta give some love to the Broncos defense because
I knew I was going to get to do the
show with you today and it's been far too long,
far too long. I almost never say positive s thing.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
No.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
I actually think a lot of this has to do
with the fact that I won't use that M word
that you like to use. I think if I magnificent, no,
that's not the word. It's hard to a nineties TV character.
And I feel like if I've used that word, then
you would feel seen, you would feel acknowledged, and that

(15:54):
the defense would finally get his justification. So I feel
like today is that day for you, just for you.
It's not even your birthday or one of your birthdays. Yes,
because you have Sally have two people don't know that
A little inside joke there.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
They showed me in that game, the whole mcguivor thing.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Yes, that you've been trying to promote the fact that
they made the adjustment to the second half that they did,
and it wasn't like they were playing a bad game
in the first half, but the adjustment to go more zone,
the adjustment to show those simulated pressures and bring more
DBS on some of the blitzes, backing guys out of

(16:33):
the A gap when you're showing the blitz. You know,
it's a really fascinating thing that I watched when I
was rewatched the game. Nick Benito's out in coverage. This
dude just won Defensive Player of the Week with two
and a half sacks, and he was in coverage at
times in the second half.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
Man oh Man. VJ was in his bag.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
Every single national podcast that I've listened to so far
talking about the Broncos and their win over the Eagles,
every single one of them, justifiably starting with the defense
and saying what Vance Joseph did in that game specifically
should get him in the conversation for best Assistant Coach
of the Year. And you literally look at that game

(17:17):
specifically and say, my gosh, what a marvelous performance by
that coaching staff and that defense.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
So I wanted to.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
Give the love because it is justified. The Broncos don't
hang in on that game. If J doesn't do everything
that he did coaching against the Eagles.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
Stane Day only you can get that. But yeah, they
did fantastic. And here's something that was strange for me
watching the game, the things that you're describing as far
as what VEJ did defensively, it had a little Dick

(17:57):
lar Bow type of field to it as well, but
it was quite familiar to me when I play here
with the Denver Broncos. Tara Owens was a member all
of the Philadelphia Eagles, and Donovan McNabb was a quarterback.
Larry Coourrier was our defensive coordinator, and I think on
about twelve plays in a row, which was ridiculous. I

(18:17):
have the film on my phone. What we did was
lined up in the show. Look looked like we were
coming to bliss, and then we would bliss and then
we would get that same look and we would drop out.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
And I was looking at Dvance defense.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
I was like, hey, this looked quite familiar to me
because we did something similar and being able to put
pressure on the quarterback where he were McNabb didn't know
where the pressure was coming from. And when you look
at Hurts, Hurts was standing there patting the ball. He
didn't have a receiver open, he didn't take off and run,
he didn't even check down to Saint Kuon Barkley. And

(18:51):
I was like, well, Vance has made the trap. And
they walked right into it, and it was a thing
of beauty. And this is why I feel more people
should not only just talk about individual players on the defense,
but the defense as a whole. But the guy who's
the architect of the defense, and as fans Joseph and

(19:12):
I know, as crazy as it sound, and the I
guess the match may not work mentally for a lot
of people, but that's why I call him Dan mcguiver,
because they showed up.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
If the Bucos defense.

Speaker 4 (19:24):
Doesn't hold in a red zone, they don't get the
three and outs, they don't perform on those some of
those key downs, then the game is not even close.
For eighteen point swing in the fourth quarter, it's not
even close. But the thing that burns my bridges was
just like, Okay, I was listening listening to you after
the game and seeing how many people were actually gonna

(19:47):
talk about the defense.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
People talked about it, but it wasn't a lot.

Speaker 4 (19:51):
It was all about Sean Payton and Bo Nicks, and
I'm like, yeah, they were part of it, but they
were not the whole piece of the pie. And I
got frustrated. I'm like, no, give those dudes their credit. Yes,
I don't want it to be a division between offensive
defense because they work hand in hand, But you beat
the Philadelphia Eagles because your defense stood tall. Talaohufunger Man, good,

(20:16):
Thank goodness for that dude.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
I'm talking to him tomorrow, bawled down on the show.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
Tell him. Nick Ferguson said, great job. I will, yes,
I will, and just and just just tell him what
I tell.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Him, what I call the defense, though, get it, that's
not gonna happen.

Speaker 8 (20:30):
I gave you everything.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
I no, no, I literally gave you everything.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Will you don't air you're.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
Just telling him have it?

Speaker 3 (20:38):
But no, you didn't phrase it the way that you
should have phrased it.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
Now I'm not phrasing it the right way.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
Yeah you're not. You didn't. But you could say I'm
telling little funer. Nick Ferguson said, man, your defense he
calls him mc guiver.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
I will not, but I will.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
You know I will would do is if I were
used as your friends with him. I think to really
bring this thing full circle, you really need to get
VJ in a mcgiver costume for Halloween. Interesting make it happen.
All right, this is our stands when a thousand dollars
coming over that thest five minutes thanks of Mercedes been
at Littleton Mercedeslittleton dot Com, the Jets. I am not

(21:17):
looking past the Jets, but tomorrow will be out at
the Great American Beer Festival, which I love being able
to do, and we'll be out there trying all sorts
of a really great bruise.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
And of course talking Broncos.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
Like I said, Talao Hufanga is gonna be on the show,
which I'm very much looking forward to getting his thoughts on.
As we're talking about the defense, the adjustments that they
made in the second half.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
How big a win that has been. I mean, Talanoa.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Hufanga has been nothing short of sensational as far as
off season additions. And I know that the frustration about
Drey Greenlaw and not really seeing him. We finally saw
some more out of Evan Ingram. But between Talanoa Hufanga
and JK. Dobbins, this has already been a smashing success
as a relase to free agency, wouldn't you agree?

Speaker 3 (22:03):
Absolutely?

Speaker 4 (22:04):
So you know what that means, Ryan, That means there's
someone else that we don't usually hear about, and that's
George Peyton.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Right.

Speaker 4 (22:11):
We all hear about the things that are happening on
the field, and it's always on the offosite side of
the ball, but no one that talks about how a
team is structured, how it actually comes together, and you
have to have the forward thinking to understand what goes
into building out a roster. And I was fortunate and

(22:32):
blessed to work with the Broncos and doing the scouting internship.
And I'm not going to give away any trade secrets
or the ideas seeing how they work, how each person
on that stab has a voice to say, Okay, well
we would like to bring this player in for this
particular reason, and they can back it up and have receipts.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
But also George Peyton being willing to hear what is being.

Speaker 4 (22:58):
Said about a particular player, I can tell you this man,
you don't have that type of chemistry taking place in
every single organization. And think about the number of undrafted
players who have made the team and have contributed to
the Broncos roster. I mean you have to go digging
deep into crates to find those guys who are not

(23:20):
in the first.

Speaker 3 (23:21):
And second round. You really have to dig deep, and
they found a lot of those guys.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
So the chemistry that we're seeing on both sides of
the ball is all doing part because.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
The coordinators and the coaches are doing their part.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
But it starts with the foundation and as Bill Parcells
would often say, I mean, you you want me to
cook the food, you should allow me to buy the groceries.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
Perfectly said, there's no bigger George Payton fan, probably in
the media than myself.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
Where's George Payton shirt?

Speaker 1 (23:51):
What would meet the George Peyton shirt?

Speaker 3 (23:53):
I mean a shirt with his Facebook.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
Wearing the sunglasses.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
That one kind of look like, you know, like it's
a shirt from the hangover something.

Speaker 2 (24:03):
I actually would like to get sort of a George
Peyton saying Nick Benito as sixty four and then I
can't fill it, finish that sentence.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
You can find the rest of that sentence on social media.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
But I kind of want to do a George Peyton
shirt saying that because my goodness, Nick Benito winning Defensive
Player of the Week and this is the first of many.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
It feels like this, Well, well, you can get a
shirt with George Peyton's face on it, right, saying I
did that, and underneath it's Nick Benito's name and on
the back is PS two.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
It's good too, Yes, yeah, signature picks.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
I did that.

Speaker 9 (24:41):
I did that.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
He also drives a bone Nicks. Now, I know a
lot of people will say that's more of a Sean
Payton thing. I think the coach wanting to have a
hand in the quarterback, especially if you an offensive coach.
He makes a lot of sense. I'm not done saying
nice things about the defense because bone Nicks was asked
about how good this Broncos defense is.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Here's what he said.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
At the it's their speed.

Speaker 8 (25:01):
They can you know, they're all just pretty smooth, pretty
quick in their in their forum and their releases, and
it's tough to keep up with them. Quite frankly. They
rotate a lot of guys, they keep them fresh throughout
the game. And I think it's also there's so many
of them, so many good pass rushers where it's hard
to really hone in on one, and you can't really

(25:22):
take one of them at the game without leaving another
one on the island. So you know, I know, you know,
they they want to get sacks and they want to
get after the passer because they understand how influential that
is and how much it affects the other guy.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
And they also got some good news today. Malcolm Roach
was was limited in practice, designated to return. Not exactly
sure what the role would be right away, but that
is a massive boost, especially for the run defense. And
I actually think they've done a pretty good job overall

(25:59):
with run defense. Now, of course it helps when teams
like the Eagles decide not to run.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
I will say, but.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
They are fifth right now, fifth in the NFL only
giving up eighty eight point four rushing yards per game.
Once again, the Eagles helps that number a lot because
we all remember the Jonathan Taylor games and Amarion Hampton.
Those guys definitely had their way with running against the Broncos.
But Malcolm Roach is significant for that defensive line.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
Just think about this, and this is where you know,
I get excited as a defensive player and former coach.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
If you were to get Malcolm Roach.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Back and then you get Drake Greenlaw and the defense
is playing pretty darn well. I think we can say
that you get those two pieces bag. Just think about
the dominance that you will now.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
Be able to see.

Speaker 4 (26:50):
Now you can move Greenlaw into the Alex Singleton row
and put Singleton and allow Singleton to do what he
does best, which is tackle. You allow Greenlaw to just
run and chase and cover guys. That changes things for
advance Joseph.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
Just think about it.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
Defensively diabotically what he can actually do having all those
moving pieces around him. And then you mentioned Jaday Baron,
I mean now being changed for him too as well.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
I love the way they constructed this thing and the
debts that they ultimately have. You know, we've been talking
about the left guard and what they're going to be
doing there with that part, and I think they're actually
going to be okay there. But they've had the benefit
of not having a lot of injuries there on the
offensive line. On the defensive side of the ball, they
have had some significant injuries. When you're not having Drake Greenlaw,

(27:40):
who you had planned to be as a starting inside
linebacker for you, right, and there's been some issues with
coverage with the inside linebacker of course is going to
be right, you're missing your starting guy. They've had injury
there defensive line. They've had so far knock on Wood,
not too many in the secondary. But the point of
it is these are significant guys and Malcolm Roach, we
said coming too the season, that's gonna be a tough

(28:02):
one to deal with because of what role he plays
on the d line.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
That's how exciting this is.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
Though.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
On the other side of that coin is when you
get Dre and you get Malcolm back, what they're really
gonna be capable of, especially with some of those rotations
on the d line.

Speaker 4 (28:19):
This makes volume to how this team was created once again,
and then the depth on the team. When you lose
a guy, someone else can pick it up and yeah,
this green Law and there is Malcolm Roach.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
Well, you have DJ Jones and Zach Allen.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
The biggest thing that you have is you have two
healthy guys who are booking in your defense and Jonathan
Cooper and Nick Benito. As long as those guys are
healthy and you get in the back end, you can
make anything else work because you do have the defensive
personnel if you were to lose a linebacker. But Foga,
we've seen him down in the box against against the Eagles.

(28:53):
We watched him blitz, we watched him do so many
fantastic beats. I mean he almost batted the ball to
him for a much needed energy boost for the Broncos, right,
But that is something that he can definitely deliver. But
the shows once again the mindset that went into creating
this team and when you look at it and you

(29:14):
try to compare it to the other teams. From a
personnel standpoint, it's gonna look a little different. But every
guy on this defense, and this is the one thing
I love about the Broncos defense.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
They understand their role.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
Each guy plays their role to perfection and is not
one of these situations where you got guys who have glory.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
Howse look at me, look at me, look at my stats.

Speaker 4 (29:35):
No, they go out there, they perform their job, and
for me, it's like a bunch of blue collar workers.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
Give me my hard head and my timberlands and let's go.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
This is a Justin Fields of Gold reference. This is
him trolling you.

Speaker 9 (29:55):
You know that, right, Hey, I'm hoping Justin Field's place
and is the starting quarterback for the entire day.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
It's a guaranteed Denver win. Oh, you should be so careful.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
You heard coach Peyton and bo Nick's talking about trap
games today and they were offended by the idea of it.
People should just as easily be offended by the idea
that the Broncos are gonna blow out this season.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
I don't see wop anywhere. There's no trap happening. There's
like five people who get that joke, and none of
them listen to the station and you as a a's
who you are.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
Shit, i'd be making that reference and none of them
listen to the station. Uh yeah, I'm interested what we said.
Giants with ten days of rest. I don't want to
be a trap game either after one.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
That's the trap game. Yeah, that's the that's the trap.
Because the Giants defense is better than you think it is.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
It's a good deal.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
The defensive front is good. Barns and Dector Lawrence. Yes, dogs,
they got some guy I Bill Carter. They got some
guys up front. But at the back end is that good? Problematic?

Speaker 1 (30:55):
But that hey, listen, if they're getting pressure, that that's
a problem for both front seven makes it makes a
bad back end look good.

Speaker 4 (31:02):
Is that.

Speaker 9 (31:03):
Did you?

Speaker 3 (31:04):
You know what, don't worry about it.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
Yeah, I'm just gonna move on.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Just gonna move on from that, Benjamin, Alright, and I
are going to be out the Great American Beer Festival tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
You guys are gonna be doing a lot of heavy
lifting tomorrow. No, you're you're working yours.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
Sure, I am sure, I am Ryan, just because you're
gonna be on there for five hours, which, by the way,
you're not nothing new for you is. But yeah, I
don't want to hear any excuses. You're you're there as
a starter. Play like a starter, that's all. I'm a
drinks like a champion. I think I said pace yourself.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
I'm good. Does he know it?

Speaker 3 (31:39):
No he doesn't. Yeah, of course. Well it's great to
just kind of put the disclaimer out there and just
say it. Yes, I hate my part.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Yeah, I'm here. Are I said pace yourself.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
Although there's a little bit of me that would look
forward to how obnoxious you might be.

Speaker 1 (31:59):
Even more so, I'm justin fields.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
That daring. This isn't a dare. This is just an
acknowledgment of hotel. How funny it might end up being
for three straight hours. Oh, it's gonna be ridiculous. Yeah,
Zach will be tuned in. I'll be listening for once.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
What's what's coming up on BCT A lot of recap
of Yeah, especially it's just a preview.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
Is that what it is?

Speaker 5 (32:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (32:23):
I did watch quite a bit of the Jets today.
We'll talk some more.

Speaker 9 (32:26):
But I'm so sorry for your eyes. Well, because there's
nothing good about that team. The offense isn't good, the
defense isn't good.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
No, that there really wasn't, and I was trying to
find something.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
I'll beginning since the NFL and any tea cause you
can run a little bit, Yeah they can, but even
some of their stats, their running stats are kind of
late garbage time.

Speaker 9 (32:44):
Like seventy five percent of Justin Field's touchdowns would come
in garbage time fourth quarters, there were all Mason Taylor
worry me a little bit.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
It was a baller.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
They should Yeah, it was a baller.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Those two guys. Those two guys.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
I mean, Garret Wilson's very talented, but it's like if
you if you really focus your attention on Garrett Wilson,
which I think the secondary can do just fine against him.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
No, Alan Wizard, And it's not that I was worried.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
About Alan's art, but anybody worth No, I'm just saying like,
if you're looking for things, you can find things to
worry about.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
And then it's Justin Fields he breaks a long run.
Zach made a great point before we gets shown the money.
Zack made a good point earlier. It's like maybe they
get one of those things on you, but they're not
going to continually get those things on you. So like
say Justin Fields gets around one time, or Breist Hall
catches a pass down on the right sideline type you know,
like that's not gonna happen so many times, and then meanwhile,

(33:35):
your Broncos offense is going to be able to do
what they want.

Speaker 9 (33:38):
It's gonna be like a twenty to three game with
eight ten minutes to go, and then Justin Fields had
the stats to make it look like it's something that
it isn't
