Speaker 1 (00:00):
Call me jack Nasty. That's right, Nate's Jacky. It's studio
the confer they's Jackson in studio.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
What's up, bait? Hey, how are you? It's good to
see you. Good to be seen, Yes, good to be here.
It's a Friday. How was what was that game on Sunday?

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (00:15):
It was pretty fantastic. Yeah, yeah, it was very emotional.
Hmm t you know, two different stories in the same game.
But then all the guys who were there, all the legends,
the Marius Thomas's family, Ring of Fame, Super Bowl fifty, the.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Build up was it was.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
It was a huge build up for that game, and
then to have it deliver the way it did, it
was pretty incredible. I think everyone who was there, everyone
to watch that game, everyone who was involved, will remember
that game for the rest of their lives. Those kind
of games don't happen often, and so that magic. It's
nice to see that your team can do that. Right now,
how do we channel that for four quarters?

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Indeed, indeed, that is the big topic this week, as
you imagined Sports Stock Radio Land is how can the
Broncos do this? The player peppered with those questions. I
talked to Quinn Miters in the locker room for the pregame.
I'm peppered in with those questions. I mean they all know,
they all know. I don't know just for a moment
because we have a billion things.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
To get too.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Nuggets played last night, fascinating stuff with the Chargers. Want
to get to that as well. We have passer Tan
joinings here at three point thirty as an offensive player.
When you're peppered with questions like that, I mean, it's
not like you go prep for the whole week to
play bad or to start flat.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Nobody does.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Right, you have the first fifteen you have, you have
a game plan in mind on how we're going to
attack these guys. Yeah, and then it doesn't quite work
the way you want to, And I mean that's that's an.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Adjustment you have to make.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
So I don't know, Like when when you're getting peppered
with those questions, I mean, what are you thinking? Like?

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah, we literally thank you media.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
We literally don't practice all week and that's why we
show up and look like we're ever prepared.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Yeah, you caught us, right. It's hard to be asked
why do you suck?

Speaker 1 (01:57):
But we can find creative ways to ask that why
are you so bad when you start the game out? No,
but you mentioned the first fifteen and that is something
to consider there because most coach, I mean the Shanahan tree,
the Bill Walsh tree, they script the first fifteen plays.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
So the first fifteen plays, you have them in.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Your hand the night before, right, you know exactly what
play you're gonna run.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Now.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Sometimes if it's a run on the sheet and it's
third and twelve, you're not gonna run what's on the sheet,
so you do it. So you call a play for
the moment, but then you get back to the sheet.
So these are plays that coach likes, These are plays
that you worked on all week. These are plays that
he thinks are gonna work versus the defense we've seen
on tape. There are plays that he wants to work, right,
and then you go out there and they don't, and

(02:40):
it's just it kind of takes the air out of
the moment there, and it makes you feel like all
your preparation maybe was a little off, Like what were
we doing all week?

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Coach?

Speaker 4 (02:50):
If these plays that you like the most didn't work,
what the hell are we doing? And then you got
to shake that off and then finally all bets are
off in the fourth quarter, you don't have time to
think about it. We got to go tempo and we
just got to call plays and run them. Don't worry
about making it perfect. Let's just move it, and that's
when things start to work. There's a lot that's instructive
in that process. You just have to be self critical

(03:10):
on both sides, not just the players but the coaches,
and then meet in the middle and trying to find
a way to unlock these guys early.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
I know a lot has.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
Been made about the swing, you know, the bubble screens
and the screens about and I'm sure we'll get into
some of that. You know, those bubble screens. I caught
a lot of them in college. I caught some of
them in the pros. You got to break a tackle there.
You got to break a tackle, and you need your
receivers and those guys to block. Now, no more to
Von Vley, no more l J. Humphrey. Those guys, their

(03:38):
contributions didn't always show up on the stat sheet, But
if you had Von Vley and l. J. Humphrey out
there blocking instead of Marvin Minsent Troy Franklin, there might
have been a different result. So you got to think
about the personnel. And I know Champagne's talking about that,
the personnel. What are we asking guys to do.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
When you have three receivers out there blocking for one
guy and one of them misses a block, it's a
two yard loss. So little stuff like that, it could
have been a good play call that guy makes a block,
it's a fifteen yard game. Instead it's a loss. And
they got to find a way to shake that off
in the first quarter undred percent. So before we get
to the we'll get back to the Broncos here a second.

(04:15):
Do you enjoy you just to watch the last night's
game at all?

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Sure? It did?

Speaker 5 (04:18):
Man?

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Yeah, how about them Chargers? Oh they were good. They did.
I thought you were talking about the Nuggets game at first.
Well that too.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
I do want to talk about the Nuggets. Yeh, absolutely, And
that was a bit of a bummer the way it ended.
But Aaron Gordon is still him. I want to get
to that in a second here, I guess just for fun,
and I love when al Michaels does this.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
It's like you wait for it because you know it's coming.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
And then when a broadcaster just gives you what you
wanted all the long.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
It's the greatest gift that can be given. What was that?

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Well when he starts talking about betting, Oh, Alan Michaels
is famous.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
For knowing the lines on these games, oh figs.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
And so last night is the game was approaching, we
had the over under on it was what forty four
forty four and a half, and it was forty four
and a half, so it was thirty four to ten.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
And Al Michaels in the booth did not disappoint.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
A game like this.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
You think it is over, but it's not quite over.

Speaker 6 (05:21):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Why not?

Speaker 2 (05:22):
You know I'll be punished again? Yeah, I want to
tell you. I mean, it's it.

Speaker 7 (05:27):
It's close to being over, but it's really I don't
want to call it over with three minutes to go.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Rather never No.

Speaker 5 (05:35):
It's really interesting where that early are we are Sometimes
you never know ed go ahead, Yeah, they destroy you.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
See.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
And I think also I love simultaneously Kirk kurb Street
not knowing what to say yeah and just kind of like, yeah,
that is interesting that you're putting that out. It's like everybody,
you think this game has very little other than fantasy football.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Has very little meaning to anybody.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
At this point, is thirty four to ten with three
minutes left in the game. Nobody cares. But I love
Al Michaels because he's one of the grace to all
the time for this reason. And then of course it's
it's almost like third and twelve for the Chargers, and
at that point he's hoping for some kind of negative
player or just get to fourth down so they.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Can maybe kick a field goal, and then that's what happens.

Speaker 7 (06:30):
ANYMOI you have a forty five a chuck which will
draw a little interest. Cameron Dickard, it's not the home
it is now, you can say.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
So anyways.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
I mean it's fun it's funny, but it is it
indicative of a sad state of sports that we used
to believe was pure and true and now it's being
infiltrated by money in a way that makes it dirty,
you know.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Under the under the circumstances of everything that's happening with
the NBA right now, I probably should say what you're saying.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
No, I'm just I'm just asking the question. But no,
I I was very.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Much interested in the ending of that game, specifically for
what Al Michaels was talking about okay, and did you
end up profiting off that last time?

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Of course?

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Hey man, the over was important, okay, And it was
one of those like, you know, the Vikings are gonna
mess this up and they're gonna not score enough points.
Good for the Chargers to do what they're supposed to do,
step on the throat.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
But the game was over. That's why it was so funny,
because the game was over, but it wasn't over.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
I can tell you as an athlete, though it's it's awful.
I'm sure that this is the conversation that these guys,
you know, are laying it out on the line, dealing
with injuries, disappointment, heartbreak, maybe worried about getting cut, all
this stuff, and the people are.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Just, you know, trying to make a few bucks off
of mine. Not terrible, We're terrible. We're terrible people. Wow,
I know your sarcasm is palpable. Well, I don't know, man,
it's been a long week.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
But but I just but I appreciate the honesty of it, right, Like,
let's not pretend that's the one thing that's great. It's like,
I don't know any other broadcasters that could do that,
you know what I'm saying, Like, there's nobody else that does.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
It like that, And I mean, Joe Buck's not gonna
do that, you know.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
I mean, and he's probably I don't know, like Bob
Costas would never probably do something like this. I'm trying
to think of great broadcasters. Oh, CBS, Jim Dantz. Jim
Dantz is never gonna do this, right, Yeah, it's an
al Michael's staple. So anyways, the game was over. Nobody
cares at that point because the Chargers had won handily. Yeah,
you feel a little bit for Carson Wentz because he

(08:51):
looked like he's a lot of pain to your point
about people laying it on the line, But the rest
of it is at that point you're just like, okay,
what I'm ready for some fantasy outcomes here.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
I had Cameron Dicker as one of my kickers. That
was nice. He's a really good kick. He's very good.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
And then yeah, I was I was anxiously awaiting al
Michaels to deliver and he did and so that was
the fun part. And then I get to turn over
to the Nuggets and watch that.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Yeah, and that was a.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Very exciting game. Back back both teams last night went
into overtime. The first went into a double overtime. Nuggets
game unfortunately, went into overtime. I don't know what was
your early impressions, your first thoughts on the Nuggets.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
I mean, they went into, you know, a difficult place
to play, and they they they were they probably should
have won. They're playing against a pretty darn good team
and a home opener with one of the best players
on earth who took over at the end of the game.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Now, who's a.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
Better basketball player, Steph Curry or nikolay Jokicic. Well, Nikolay
kinch just won a couple of MVPs recently and Steph
Curry hasn't.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
But he can take over a game. Steph Curry can.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
But obscured is Aaron Gordon's awesome game fifty points and
I couldn't miss. He's the San Jose guy too, So
he was going home and you're also looking at another.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Sands A guy. I know, I know, I know, I
do know that, Okay.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Me and Aaron Gordon. Yeah, they're kind of similar in
that way. Yeah, I get it, I get it.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
But athletes, Yeah, but that that game kind of gets
ruined for him, you know, and no one will it well,
people will, but but yeah, I mean this is the
words are going to be there at the end. I
think the words are going to be, you know, a
team that the Nuggets are going to have to face
down the stretch, perhaps in the playoffs, and so they've
tried to revamp and you know, add some pieces, and
the Nuggets have added some pieces.

Speaker 8 (10:32):
To My question to you is this, though, when it
comes to basketball, if you have the best basketball player
in the world, shouldn't you also have the best basketball
team in the world.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
That is not that is not always the case now,
but shouldn't it be? It would be nice?

Speaker 1 (10:48):
I think, you know, if we're talking about like in
utopic terms, it would be great to have both. But
sometimes that's just not the case, right, And so I'm
assuming you're talking about the Spurs and Victor women Yama.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
Of course nice. No, I'm talking about the Nugget. They
should be. It's still the best player in the world
until proven otherwise.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
But Victor the other night put on quite the show,
and I think he's gonna make his very solid case
if he can stay healthy for the MVP this year.
But that being said, I think complimentary around Nikola Yokich
is going to be just fine if not put them
in the position. In fact, most people think this roster
is built right now to win a championship, the deepest
they've been since they won a championship, adding yonas Valenciunis,

(11:30):
adding Tim Hardaway, Bruce Brown's back, Cameron Johnson, people were
high on him, even though he had kind of rough
night last night. There's a lot to like about the
construction of this roster, but there's an argument and aside
to this where it takes some time to put all
this together and have them play together and know what
they're supposed to be doing. It did feel like Cameron
Johnson was pressing a bit last night as he's sort

(11:50):
of integrated into a championship roster and he's now playing
starting minutes as a small forward.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
That's a big difference.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
And you guy Aaron Gordon just going nuclear right, hitting
ten three pointers you couldn't miss. I mean, well, he
did miss one, but at the point of his really
I mean as close you can't miss, as not as possible.
Nicole Jokicic I wouldn't say had a bad game, but
it wasn't a great game, and he still had a
triple double an average triple double. I'm just an average
triple level and the jamalok great. So like they did

(12:16):
enough in many ways to probably to probably win that game,
and then Steph Curry does his thing and well, you know,
we know, we know what that looks like. But I'd say, yes,
they have all the makings of it. I think the
one downside of losing that game the way you did
is to your point, the West is going to be
very stacked again, and these games matter. These are tiebreaker games.
So it's not to say, hey, it's it is one

(12:38):
of a two, right, it's one of a two. Get
along season ahead, you'll play You'll play Golden State again.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
But as we saw last.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
Year with the Clippers, perfect example, you ended up winning
the tiebreaker kind of in a fluky way, actually winning
the typebreaker because you won it I think via the
play in tournament. But you won the tiebreaker with the Clippers,
which I mean you got home court over them. You
had the same record as the Clippers, but you had
home court. You got home court, which mattered. It didn't matter.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
So I don't know, I'm not on the down about
what they did. Last night.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
I think there was a lot of making some very
good things, and I am not down about some of
the new editions and being a little bit off to
a slow start.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
I think that we're gonna be fine there.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
Yeah, it's coach Adaman's first time as a head coach
to figuring that out. Cam Johnson's gonna figure it out.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
I just don't like the white T shirt, look the
blue tank time as you lecturing.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Me about gambling and sports, and here you are, like.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
I'm not at the head, well, the jerseys, the undershirt,
like the full length white Oh that's right, your jersey police,
that's right.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Come on, I'm a uniform in spector.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
No, I mean that's not a violation or anything. I
just don't think it's aesthetically very pleasing. Okay, we'll see
the guns man. Let him breathe a little bit. Okay,
So this is like you're taking Do you.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Like the long do you like the white T shirt?

Speaker 4 (13:58):
Look under a like an NBA game jersey. I just
think it's a I will tell you, And I mean
as as honestly you didn't even look at you don't
notice it as.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
I could possibly I did not notice it and I
never thought of it.

Speaker 6 (14:14):
Now.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
No, as ask our listeners, I mean on the text lane, okay,
if they've noticed, if they noticed.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
That five six, sixth nights zero, are you bothered by
the white T shirts under the jersey?

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Bother? But did you notice?

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Well?

Speaker 2 (14:24):
No, you said you were bothering it.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
Okay, and I'm okay being alone there as you're watching
the game.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
But are you like, oh that's something I'm noticing. Okay,
see that. Okay, have about five six six nights zero
have you noticed? And or are you bothered by? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (14:41):
So because we're like question, yeah, yeah, you might get
some people that yes, I did notice, and I don't care,
and there might be some people to chime in and say, yes,
they did.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Notice, and oh it's so awful. That's not so awful.
It's just it could be better. It could be better. Yeah.
Did you did you catch anybody on Sunday that messed up?

Speaker 3 (14:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (14:59):
Did you really? Well? I mean I do every week? Seven,
I do every week? Oh do you really?

Speaker 7 (15:03):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Every week?

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Every week there's a I mean, if I don't put
anyone down, it's like I'm not doing my job. So
you got to get like, I gotta get a few guys,
but there's guys violating constantly. They like egregious or these
are like like, hey, socks are still just not it.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
Socks understs and towels the streamer towels the towels yeah
where you know, behind behind them and they can't hang
down a certain length.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
And you know, some of the guys like, screw it,
find me, I want to do this. I'm gonna wear this, okay,
you know, and.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
So okay, Yeah, and it's up to the League office.
They'll find you are not. Yeah, I'm just trying to
help you. I'm trying to help you avoid the fine.
But I'm trying to help you avoid the fine. And
maybe got DPIs against you. You know, that's what I'm
trying to do.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Yeah, you know, maybe maybe or person, maybe if you
pull your socks out, they won't throw the song on you.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Man. Maybe the league is sending a message.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Can you imagine pull your socks up the back judge
throws to the flag on Riley Voss and it's.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
Like, hey, man, you had this coming.

Speaker 6 (16:01):
You know.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
Nate Jackson talked to you right before the game. He
told you I don't talk to him. No, it's right
you know, I don't spear. Yeah, you just make it up.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
I make a note, I give it to the equipment
manager and he tells them, okay, and they know. I mean,
they're like, I mean, they're making the decision not to
correct it, and so I'm not gonna make a big
deal about It's up to them.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
You want to hear what the text? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay,
you actually.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Have opinions on this. I'm stunned. I felt like there'd
be nothing. Yeah, well here we go. We got didn't
notice or bother not everyone is uniform police. I've noticed,
and it bothers me too.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Oh okay, you should apply for uniform police. Maybe they're
hiring notice but not bothers.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
So literally we've recovered every possible answer.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
That's the best thing ever.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
It's like, how how how many different sections can we
all are in here? I would say it really doesn't matter,
but I guess it could resist the shooting ability, But
overall it's just preference.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
Yeah, that's what I meant.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
Down with the fashion cops, Nate inspector equals no fun league.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
What a dork? You're the dork, sir, oh ma'am.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Ma'am could be yeah, we're not gonna I'm not gonna assume, yeah, dork, dork,
I assume was meant dear affectionately. Yes, dork, I'll take it.
Who calls somebody a dork in like a mean way?

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Now, yeah that's true.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Thank you person. They like you, they love me. Cheersey
Police needs to retire. But but in defensive you, in
defensive you, as you've put it multiple.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Times, somebody's gonna do this job.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
This is a job that people, this is a job
that the NFL is going to employ somebody's and you
want to try to do it in the most Oh,
I'm like the cool cop. I'm like the guy who
bowls over and say, hey, man, just slow down. Come on,
it's it's a school's mine for crying out loud mine
actually schools.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
Really, you really should take them to the schools up.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
Kay?

Speaker 4 (18:08):
Now, I don't send it away unless I have to.
You know, this is really really bad. Egregious, Yeah, egregious
and Kathy Lee.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
If I do the show has been all right today?
What's with the pun? Gregious and Kathy Lee? Grant's gonna
play that later.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
I guarantee that, all right, we got we got pastor
Tan come up here just a little bit.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
I set the table for you. So we have Pastor
Tan coming up. We are going to.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Be giving you a chance to win Broncos Cowboys tickets. Yes,
after five thirty, we have our coaches Corner segment. Looking
forward to that. I believe it's on the bonus eighteen
yard rushing touchdown. Let's put the Broncos up temporarily. Yeah,
thirty to twenty six? What did you think for what
did you think when that happened when they battled all
the way back and Bonix ran in from eighteen yards
out and they went thirty twenty six?

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Electric? This game's over. No, okay, I didn't think that,
but wow, what a powerful moment in in power field. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
I was right there on the sideline next to Susie Brgen.
Actually I think I have there's a shot at she's
like jumping. Yeah, I didn't jump, but I think I
had a hand extended into the air.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
No.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
It it was great and it was a great call.
I mean, Bo's a very good athlete. We need to
tap into that. You know, there's a fine line between
wanting to tap into his athleticism and let him pick
up those yards and design some runs and not wanting
to get him hurt, right, So it's like, how do
you maximize his ability and let him do what he
naturally does well? And that was that was a brilliant call,
brilliant play by bow, well blocked all around, and electric

(19:38):
moments outstanding.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
Yeah, so we'll hear that play in the coach's corner
voice the Broncos Dave Logan and Coach Sean Payton. After
five point thirty and following that, you'll have a chance
to win Broncos Cowboys tickets and as we have been
doing now for quite some time, you'll have three chances
to win a fifty dollars Maverick gift card. So we'll
have won this hour, one, next hour, and one and
five o'clock hours.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
So we'll be listening for that. But when we come back,
Passive Van joins us coming up next. PS two joining
us here. You're on with Nate Jackson and Ryan Edward's
good to chat with you, my friend. How are you?
I'm good, I got doing We're doing great. We're getting
excited about this game.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
I know you've been blasted with a thousand questions about
this receiving course. So here's one more I want to
just ask you, man, I mean, you know what the
talent is. Is it a function though, because you guys
have faced high end level talent wide receivers already. Is
it a function of just how well Dak Prescott specifically
is playing mixed.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
With how good these guys are got a win assume?

Speaker 6 (20:38):
Yeah, I think it's a good mixture. I think they
play off each other. Will they feed off each other?
You know, Dak trust them guys, and the receiver receivering
court trust Dek as well too, So I think it's
a mix of both, you know, obviously that's why they're
so successful this year, with you know, Dak relying on
those guys to make plays down the field, and know

(20:59):
sort of receivers trusting deck, you know, to put the
ball in a perfect position that allows them and enables
them to make them plays down the field. So, you know,
when I look at it on film, I see a
lot of camaraderie and trust on the field.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
So pat, you never know how a referee crew is
going to call defensive pass interference holdings and stuff like that.
Riley Moss got a pretty ticky tack call throwing against
him in a really crucial point in the game. How
do you, guys, if you do it all prepare for
that during practice, how do you deal with these inconsistent
reps and the way they call games.

Speaker 6 (21:36):
Uh, you know, we understand, you know, through parts of
the game. Uh, you know, it's a physical football game.
So we know flans gonna come. But you know, I
feel like some of the fans thrown last week.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
We're pretty egregious.

Speaker 6 (21:52):
Just talking about the righty flag. I think he made
the perfect play that allowed him to get in that position.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
I mean, see what he did wrong.

Speaker 6 (22:01):
Like if you want to do a teach tape on
how to look back for the ball and play the ball,
that's what we did. And uh, you know, obviously they
called it otherwise, but you know, I don't I don't
think that allows us to, you know, change the way
how we play.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
You know, we're gonna go out there and play.

Speaker 6 (22:17):
Physical guardis no matter what the cause may be or
how they may feel about it. But you know, obviously,
looking at it, I think they made a bad call
on the end. But you know what I mean, I
think we never lost hope on it. Obviously they scored,
but you know, we ended up kicking the field goal
for the game winning drive.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
What was it like being part of a game like that,
especially there in the fourth quarter, right? I know that
you were asked about it and you said that you
kind of lost a little bit.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Of faith there.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
But in the end, you just you know, you go
back to work and you you go out there and
you keep playing. But just after the fact, a couple
of days later, as you're thinking about it, what was
it like being a part of a game like that?

Speaker 6 (22:55):
Shoot, I ain't know what to think, what to believe.
There's a point throughout the game, well I lost hope,
Shame on me. But it was like the second half,
we was down nineteen zero. I think they got the
ball and scored again. Then they had the tip pass
for the touchdown and I was like, man, the football
guys are not on our side today. But I looked

(23:18):
out around. Man, we never lost confidence. You know, we
stayed composed, stayed with it, keep chiming in, making adjustments,
and you know, we made the players that we needed
to make towards the end in critical situations, and you
know that's when we started to gain momentum, and that
I think propelled us to win in that game.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
Incredibly emotional game. Everyone who was there will remember it forever,
as you guys will. How do you approach moving forward
after an emotional game like that, learning from the mistakes
you made, but also appreciating the moment that you guys have.
How long does that linger into the next week? Do
you talk about it on Wednesday at all? Or is
it just Monday? And then move on?

Speaker 3 (24:00):
Yeah, it's one of those games where you know, obviously.

Speaker 6 (24:03):
You appreciate the win, but you know what I mean,
we we also had a lot of corrections to make,
but you know it's a.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
One thing task. Look at the film, move on.

Speaker 6 (24:12):
And get better, you know, on to next week because
we know we've got tough challenges ahead, you know, even
bigger games ahead.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
So we can't sit in douyle.

Speaker 6 (24:22):
You know in that.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
Moment you got to move on.

Speaker 6 (24:25):
Understand we want but also know that is bigger games ahead,
especially in this stretch coming.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
Forward, no doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Passer ten joining us here as he typically does every Friday,
last couple here for you really appreciate it. So back
to this game against the Cowboys, and again, you guys
have played some high powered offenses.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
You know, already. Is there is there a bit of a.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
Mindset on defense because we've been asking the offense all week, like, hey,
keeping pace and all those kinds of things. Defense, You
guys don't want to give up single yard, But you know,
when you're playing a team like this, there's gonna be
some a bit of allowance for that, I imagine, knowing
that they're gonna find some ways to get win.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
So how do you stay present with that?

Speaker 6 (25:08):
Yeah, I mean, you know, obviously they're pros. You know
what I mean, they're playing at a high level. Were
playing at a high level. It's gonna be a battle.
Like I said, it's gonna be back and forward going on.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
But you know, we.

Speaker 6 (25:19):
Gotta find a way to eliminate explosives and eliminate the mental.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
Errors on our end. We know, you know what type
of offense they got.

Speaker 6 (25:28):
They got a lot of dynamic playmakers on each side.
But you know we got playmakers on our side too,
So you know, we're looking forward to that battle.

Speaker 3 (25:38):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 6 (25:38):
They gonna make plays, We're gonna make plays.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 6 (25:41):
It's gonna be a four quarterball game, and the only
thing that matters matters is getting that W. After the game,
we'll look up with the crow to zero. Uh, you
know we see a W on our end.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
So so bad.

Speaker 4 (25:56):
Drake Greenlaw how came back last week was on a
little bit of a pitch count. And but can you
talk a little bit about what you guys saw on
film of what Dre did do when he was in there.
Obviously he's gonna be with you guys this week, but
just what he brings to the defense when he.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
Is in there.

Speaker 6 (26:11):
Yeah, I mean, he brings a lot of leadership, a
lot of veteran presence.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
You know, he's been.

Speaker 6 (26:16):
Playing at a high level consistently, and he's a dog man.
You know, when you've got a guy out there you
know that's physical, brings that presence, you know, I mean
goes around and here, folks. It brings a lot of
energy towards the defense. And obviously he's a spended this week,
so you know, I mean, we can't wait, you know,

(26:37):
to happen back next week.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
I pat It is now time for the Children's Hospital
Colorado Kid Caster's presented by your Colorado Buick GMC dealers.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
This week's question is from CJ. Hi, my name is CJ.
Well you do it? I sound it fine? You win?

Speaker 1 (27:01):
Yeah, there you go. All right, So the question is
what do you do for fun?

Speaker 6 (27:07):
What do I do for fun? I do a lot
of things, man, You know. I travel with my free time.
I love traveling around the world, across the globe.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Get to experience that on a different level. I just
spend time with.

Speaker 6 (27:21):
Family, play video games. So I'm pretty simple myself, you
know what I mean. But I'm always good for the adventure.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
So well, now you're doing some podcasting. I love your
rant by the way, this week on the Riley Hospital.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
Man, that was outstanding.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
Oh yeah, you ahead of let them know.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
It's great man. All right, Pat, we appreciate you. Best
of luck on Sunday. We'll chat with you next week.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
All right, thank you?

Speaker 2 (27:44):
All yeah, going, I appreciate it, Pastor tam joining us.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
The mindset of a defensive player, like for offense, as
you know, it's about scoring points, right, It's about being
efficient on offense, doing what you're supposed to do, finding
ways to getting the in zone. The type of thing
of the defense opposite right stopping every possible squeezing the
life out of your opponent, like not letting them get anything, sacks,
takeaways if you can, but you don't want them to

(28:10):
ever score a single point if you can't. But then
you're playing a team like this, and you just know
they're gonna find ways.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
So you are the what they are.

Speaker 4 (28:19):
How do you know, well, in this here we go,
Ryan is the huge opportunity. Come on, it's the it's
the flag planting moment of this defense or the opportunity.
And so when you're vance Joseph, you're standing up there
in front of these guys and you're saying, everyone is
saying exactly what you just said.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
You're gonna give up thirty. I mean, it's gonna happen.
These guys are so I mean, they're played at a
high level. They're the best offense in football is Cedie Lamb,
It's George Pickens, it's Ferguson, it's Javonte, it's Doc Come on,
I mean, you guys don't have a chance.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
Now.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
If the Broncos defense finds a way to shut these
guys down and hold them to ten points flag planting moment,
now we can really start talking about this defense as
the best in the league and potentially a super Bowl
caliber defense. And so I'm looking at this as a

(29:15):
real opportunity for this defense to kind of look because
everyone thinks that even though no one's saying this isn't
a good defense, everyone's saying, this is a very good defense,
but you can't stop the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
They're playing that.

Speaker 4 (29:27):
Well, yes, you can stop the Cowboys, and if you do,
you're gonna turn a lot of heads. If the Broncos
are able to shut down the Cowboys offense and put
up there, maybe they win thirty to ten. This is
a super Bowl kind of conversation that happens very quickly
around here.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
I love that, man, listen to you. Fire me out here.
You know what I'm saying. There's some people out there
on the fence not anymore. No, it's done. If you
miss Nate Jackson just now telling us.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
That this Broncos defense is going to shut down the
Cowboys offense, then you need to get your checks.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
That was awesome. Where do you go? Well? Thanks? I
like that. It has to be the mindset of this defense.

Speaker 4 (30:04):
You cannot and look, a different conversation is happening in
the offensive room too. Oh sure, you know, we know
how good this Cowboys offense is. So we got to
take it upon ourselves to take some pressure off the
defense and score, you know, thirty forty points. But the
defense is talking to each other like, let's shock the
world here, let's let's shot them down.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
I actually have something for that.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
And at four o'clock, I'm gonna tell you four o'clock,
I will tell people exactly why I think they have
a good chance of doing that.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Maverick gift card.

Speaker 1 (30:39):
We're giving them away hourly Fridays on Kiawai Sports. Score
a free any size fountain drink at Maverick on football
game day when you rock your University of Colorado gear
or Colorado football fans win big every game day kickoff
game day at Maverick. Now, fifty dollars gift card is
on the line, caller fourth three h three seven three
eighty five eighty five. We have another one to give
away next hour, and in the five o'clock hour, good

(31:01):
stuff there, So come up the top of the hour.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
I'm gonna tell.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
You why I think the Broncos are should be more
favored in this game than they are. I like this
on the text line, let's go Nate's Broncos are gonna
win this thing twenty seven to thirteen, just for a moment.
I mean, that's you're gonna talk about statement, right, I mean,
it's not that far fetched. The Bears beat him thirty
one to fourteen. The Broncos are better than the Bears. Man, man, Now,

(31:27):
there's got to be a formula for it. You gotta
stop him on first down. Javonte Williams can't pick up
five six yards on first down.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
You stop him on first down. Force them into some
second and long, third and long situations.

Speaker 4 (31:38):
Put pressure on deck, having forced some mare and throws,
intercept them, get the ball on the ground, force some turnovers.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
I think that's what the Broncos are going to try
to do and can do. Somebody says the Broncos are
gonna lose fifty five to seventeen.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
How could you listen to what Nate just said and
say that is it possible? Fifty five fifty five?

Speaker 4 (31:58):
You know the way I'm looking at things, and I'm
looking at the Bears games like the Bears are the
only team that really held him under twenty points and
held them to fourteen. Now ceede Lamb wasn't there, Okay,
so that matters. But Jake Ferguson had thirteen catches in
that game didn't amount to much. So what I'm thinking is,
Jake Ferguson, go ahead and beat us. We'll let Jake

(32:21):
Ferguson catch eight yard hitches over the ball all day long.
Go ahead and have thirteen for eighty four yards. Jake Ferguson,
you're on pace to break all the records.

Speaker 2 (32:30):
Do it, Jake.

Speaker 4 (32:32):
We don't want George Pickens having forty yard games. We
don't want Ceedee Lambs having thirty yard games. We don't
want that intermediate and deep stuff that they do very well.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
We want to keep that contained and let.

Speaker 1 (32:42):
Jake Ferguson catch balls underneath, tackle him, immediately, punch the
ball out, things like that, and keep Javonte from having
first down productive runs.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
I think that's the formula. This question comes in.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
Can they talk about why bok hee'ps having his passes
tipped at the line and can it be fixed easily?

Speaker 4 (33:00):
I mean, I don't know how easily it's fixed, but
I was talking to my buddy Jake Plumber. We do
a show called The Walkthrough actually, and we go out
on the field and talk about those kind of things,
and we talked about just that because he had five
of them batted down. I mean, he's leading the league
by far and having these passes batted down. And part
of part of it, at least Jake was saying, and
I believe him, is that he's staring down where he's throwing. Okay,

(33:23):
and he's and you don't need to turn your head there.
You can look with your eyes to make sure and
it's the turning of the helmet that will alert a
defensive lineman that that's where you're going, and he'll gather
himself and put his hand up. If he's blocked by
your offensive lineman, you can look with your eyes to
make sure your guy is there and then turn and fire.
But Bo is taking the snap, and he's turning his

(33:45):
helmet right where he's going, and he's staying right there.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
So that's one thing. Don't turn your head too soon.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
Another thing is you got to work the clock a
little more on your releases. You see Patrick Mahomes and
all those silly releases and stuff, But.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
It comes in handy when you got a guy in
your face.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
Maybe you need to take it from a twelve o'clock
angle to a ten o'clock angle or a nine o'clock
to get it around him.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
And I think it's those two things.

Speaker 4 (34:09):
Bo's kind of telegraph in his passes a little bit,
and he's not working the clock enough with his release.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
But the telegraph thing, some of it can have to
do with him not.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
Feeling completely secure that he knows where his guys are
gonna be.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
There's a new offense.

Speaker 4 (34:22):
He may be a little confused because once you know
where everyone's gonna be, you don't have to look. You
know it, and then you can actually move the defense
with your eyes and your head placement. I can make
you think I'm going there, and then bang, I turn,
And it's that little one hundredth and tenth of a
second that matters there. If I can get you to
think I'm going somewhere else to the last moment I
turn him, fire, you're not gonna be able to stick
your hand up. And these guys are watching Bo. His eyes,

(34:45):
his head are not moving from the target. I think
that has something to do with it.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
All right, good stuff. When we come back, Like I said,
I'm gonna throw a breakdown.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
Why I think the Bronxs have a very good shot
of winning this game, and it's not a factor we've
talked about.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
We'll get to it next
