Speaker 1 (00:00):
Because we're gonna head out to the ka Common Spirit

(00:01):
Health hotline right now and bring on Broncos pass rusher
Nick Benito, Nick, thanks so much for your time.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
You're on with Dave Logan, Alfred Williams, and Ryan Edwards.
How are you, hey, guys.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
I'm doing well.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Hey, it's been fun watching you play.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Man.

Speaker 4 (00:15):
I got to tell you know, I've been a fan
since you were a rookie, and I've seen you do
some pretty amazing things as an edge rusher, as a
former edge rusher myself, it's just, uh, it's just really
really cool to see you out there playing. What are
you thinking about before that moment of impact when you
are rushing to pass or what goes through your mind?
Don't jump off outsides, beat them with the speed?

Speaker 2 (00:37):
What what's going through your mind?

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Just you know, always going through like the pass rush
plan throughout the week and you know, just feeling the
tackles out throughout the game. So really just knowing what
you know I can beat them with and just having
counters in the back of my head that I know
that can work against them to eventually either pressure or
you know, sack the quarterback. So just a different pass
rush progressions.

Speaker 5 (01:00):
Hey, Nick, when you I think you would probably know
your game better than anybody. And so from when you
first came in the league, what two or three things
have you most improved upon in your mind in terms
of being a pass rusher.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
I definitely think just knowing how to study tackles, knowing
what they like to do, knowing what type of sets
they're giving you, knowing what type of hands they're going
to give you, and just kind of just practicing out
throughout the week honing it down. And you know, also
just you know, knowing what moves I like going into
games and and just doing that really, I mean always
the get off is the most important thing, but just

(01:40):
learning to study tackles and noting.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
What they like to do.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Listening to Cody Barton, who won AFC Defensive Player of
the Week this week, said that one of the things
he loves about this defense is everybody gets a chance
to eat. So when it comes to the pass rush,
when it comes to the guys on the defense making plays,
how important is that to you to the guys out
there that you know, everybody's gonna get an opportunity to
really shine.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Yeah, just normal. We have a bunch of dogs, man.
I mean just from top to bottom. You know, everybody's
out there trying to make plays. Everybody's out there trying
to have fun. Whether it's at the D line, you know,
us rushing together, us being disruptive in the run game,
you know, just trying to play in the opponents back there,
and the dB S linebackers being stingy, and coverage coming
downhirell when need be, and just doing all these things,

(02:24):
and you know, it's just it's just real fun when
you got a bunch of guys that just want to
go out there and just make plays.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
So well, who's the guy on the team that just
gets everybody hype? I mean, was before the game. I
just loved playing with Steve att Water. He was a
guy that just got everybody hype before the game starts.
On this team, who is that guy that starts.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
To fire easily?

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Malcolm Roach. He's always talking through throughout the game, before
the game, after the game, when he's at home, whenever
he can, he's always talking, just trying to get us hype. So,
I mean, he's definitely the guy that, you know, whether
it's playing music for the game, we're just trying to
hype us up.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
He's always that guy we're talking to.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
Nick Benito really having a great year as an edge
pass rusher for the Denver Broncos. A final question for me,
I mean, you were here last year obviously, so was
advanced Joseph Malcolm Roach is in an addition, John Franklin
Myers another edition. But but you know, the defense, it
calling games, it looks different to me, and it just

(03:23):
feels different from the booth. What what what couple of
things sort of stand out to you? Is maybe reasons
why or maybe I've misstated that. Maybe it's it doesn't
feel that different at all.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
I definitely just think it's you know us, you know
a lot of the guys that were here last year
just being comfortable and knowing the system again coming back
into this year, just having that you know, that same language,
same coaches, that having that familiarity, and then obviously with
the new guys that are coming in and you know,
also helping out and leading the way as well. Like
you said, JFM wrote, those guys is coming in just

(03:59):
you know, add into what we were already building last year.
So just that familiarity, I feel like what's helping us
out a lot.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Last one for me.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
You know Bryce Young now with the Carolina Panthers, who's
going to be starting. Did it help at all knowing
that early in the week, And again I heard France
Joseph yesterday you started talking about it in terms of
the scheme is the thing that you pay attention to,
but the tendencies from one quarterback to the other.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Did it help knowing early in the week that it
was going to be Bryce Young.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
One hundred percent. Especially with a guy like Bryce, like
number one pick. He's obviously has a lot of talent
and can make a lot of things happen, whether it's
with his legs or just you know, trying to throw
it down the field. We know what he's capable of,
and it definitely helped that. You know, we're able to
know early in the week so we can have a
good game plan for him.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
Nick, the last thing I have for you is that
every year, when you go into training camp and you
go into the season, you go with a work plan
on to improve one area of your game. And I'm
quite sure you had the exact same epiphany at some
point that this part of my game needs to improve.
What was that one thing that you really worked hard

(05:03):
in the offseason, training camp and up to this point
to really improve on your game.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Yeah, definitely just helped me, like just being in the
weight room and just you know, getting stronger so I
can be able to play the run well. Definitely, I
want to be a guy that can always have to
be on the field, and I feel like that was
a big emphasis for me going to the offseason, So
just trying to get stronger, to put a little more
weight on and I can be able to play on

(05:30):
early downs and help the team. It was probably my
biggest emphasis for sure.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Nick really appreciates the time.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Best of luck on Sunday, man, thank you, good luck
out there, yea, sir, Thank you guys.
