Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, Dave, Hello Ryan, Chilli outside, I've got I got
sweats on, you know, all good.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
I had a little bit early, going.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
To be outside in about fifty four minutes.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
It's crisp. It's like it's it's the fall. Is it
officially the fall? It feels like the fall? No, no,
but is it officially the fall?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Oh? No? Well yeah, it's like, isn't it October? What day?
It's October twenty second? Is I don't remember?

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Oh? There isn't.

Speaker 4 (00:24):
Is there an actual official fall day?

Speaker 2 (00:26):
What country do you live?

Speaker 1 (00:27):
It was like winter solstice and stuff like that. But
we're kind of loud. You grow up in Belgium.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Because they don't celebrate fall and falls. Good candies, that's
a good plight. Oh chocolate, I've heard.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
I've heard ran from Ohio.

Speaker 5 (00:41):
The actual startup fall is the autumnal equinox, which is
the moment when the sun is directly above the equator
and day and night are of equal length. September twenty
second or September twenty third.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Okay, it's officially fall. So we were heard fall. We're
a moutumuneal equinox.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Well, we used to have the Big guy here. Who
would help us, Alfred, it would help us with this.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Al was all over the time change. Remember that I
made some good points too.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
He did.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Yeah, and he said, hey, guys, you know from here
on out we get one more ad minute of the daylight.
And he would tell us that all so I didn't
have to think about it.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
So we we officially fall back time wise Saturday night
at midnight.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
This weekend, okay it is.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
I usually just wait for Twitter more or less to
tell me that for stuff, I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
I don't try to get that extra hour of sleep.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
No, no, I mean I do.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Well.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
First, we work on Sunday, so it doesn't impact things
for us. I think I'm on a seven AM.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
It's an extra hour sleep.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
I'm gonna take it.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
How are you? How are you on a seven A?

Speaker 6 (01:40):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Because there because in Houston. I got it.

Speaker 6 (01:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Yeah, we'd leave for Houston on a Saturday. That's right,
that's right.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
So, but I it felt it felt colder today. So
if you would have said to me, Ryan, today's the
first day I fought, I've been like, you know, I
believe you. Yeah. No, it was cold, Yeah, it was cool.
It woke up in the freeze saw my breath in
the air. I said, you know what, I think I
have it out for this. And here comes the flannel. Here.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Ryan's the only guy I know, only only man of
his age that I know that has a separate, uh
closet for flannel.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
We're in we're officially in fall in winter.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
I get it.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
And you see this as a little thicker. It's a
little sicker.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
What's that food?

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Food drinking peach, pumpkin and pumpkin spice pumpkin.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Yeah, you have one of those, lady h I had
one on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Okay before the game. All right, good?

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Yeah, Well you know what, get another one Sunday. Maybe
that's the special million.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Well, I tell you what, maybe our next guest would
appreciate that as well. As we head out to the
Kway comments Bear and health hotline and bring on garat
balls starting left tackle for your Denver Broncos.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
This dude does not drink pumpkin latte spice pumpkin latte.
I promise you that. Oh he doesn't.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Okay, well, Garrett Garrett's Carty wall comments on coffee choice.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
No he doesn't.

Speaker 6 (02:55):
Yeah, I don't drink coffee.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Oh see, that's why I knew that. I knew that.

Speaker 6 (03:01):
Good job that was me.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
There you go.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Are you like no caffeine?

Speaker 6 (03:05):
Like? Is that no caffeine?

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Wow?

Speaker 6 (03:09):
Just water? And like to be honest with.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
You, there you go, that's impressive.

Speaker 6 (03:14):
I'll drink well, I'll drink like a I'm a big
Sampel Greeno fan, like the flavored ones like those orange
or or the limen ones those those. That's my choice
of doing something with sparkling water.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Yep, okay, damn.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
By the way, I found out from Julia McLoughlin, I
think it was last year that he doesn't like the
taste of water.

Speaker 6 (03:33):
Yeah, he does not drink water. He drinks power aid
and now do good Horse, good lords. But hey, that's
what he that's what he likes.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yeah, that's right, it is. Hey.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
I can tell you Broncos fans like they like what
they witnessed on Sunday that uh you guys, I mean say,
maybe the first the first drive, but after that many
had the running game going, good, pass protection, bow was accurate,
receivers made some plays. I mean it was it seemed
like everything you guys wanted to do on offense was working.

Speaker 6 (04:06):
Yeah. I think you know, we we just wanted to
you know, implies that we wanted to start fast. I think,
you know, the last couple of weeks, we don't need to.
We don't need to, haven't. I mean some games, you
know you need to score thirty points to win the game,
like we did against the Giants. But I think we
wanted to start fast and you know, create an identity,
and you know it was there. It was just a
moment of time until we clicked on all four cylinders,
and definitely that's what we did. I felt like our

(04:28):
defense did what they need to do to give us
the ball and give a build position, and then you know,
our special teams played phenomenal. And then obviously you know,
Bo controlled the game, controls the game clock, and then
you know, we did we needed to do to create
running lanes and to get the ball into our playmakers' hands.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
The blocking was incredible in this game of offensive line,
what receivers, I mean obviously highlighted by that forty yarder
for r. J. Harvey, but just for a moment, I mean,
was there something in the practice weeks. I heard you
guys talk about it in the locker mathwards. Was there
something in the practice week and an emphasis on the blocking.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Coming into this game, I think, you know.

Speaker 6 (05:07):
Us starting up five to upfront just wanted us to
you know, we've geled. This is like I said, this
is the closest group that I've been around, us starting five,
and you know, we take it upon ourselves when we
need to control the game. And I feel like, you know,
that's how it is in the NFL. If you have
a good old line, you can control the game. You
can set the tempo, and you know, we just wanted
to make a presence and I think just in practice,
we wanted to remind everybody like this is who we are.

(05:29):
You know, we're fast, temple, We're gonna get to the ball,
We're going to score points. We can be electrifying offense,
and you know, we have a bunch of young guys
that can catch the ball and get out in open
space and create guys you know, make people miss and
get down the stretch. And you know, it's just so
much fun to be able to be a part of
this team and see where it's going with all these playmakers.
And I think that was just a game that we
needed to lay down a foundation. And you know, I

(05:51):
guess the the limits ho for us now that we
move down this stretch and start playing some better opponents,
some better defenses like we have this week, and you know,
we're definitely excited for the challenge.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Yeah, you mentioned what's coming up this week, and Houston
really does have a good defense, as you know, and
I think Will Anderson's one of the top edge guys
that we have in our league. But when you look
at Houston just overall, as you start to sort of
get ready and when Wednesday the game plan goes in,
are there a couple of things and you played them
a couple of years ago too, a couple of things

(06:23):
that impress you mostly about what they have or what
they do on defense?

Speaker 6 (06:31):
Yeah, I think, woman, they rush a pastor. I think
that's definitely what it is. And I think, you know,
what it really comes down to is, you know, they
have a good defense. We have a really good defense.
They have no line and we have no line. I
feel like all all line is better. I really think
it's going to come down to that whose old line
is going to hold up the best against this pass
rush and this violent defense attacks. And you know, I
feel like our old line, you know, we we faced

(06:53):
a freaking nature, you know, across the board. All training
came along, all practice long, and I feel like, you know,
these are the games that we live for. These are
the moments that we live for to be able to
block the best of the best. You know, I specifically
do I love the moments where you know, hey you
go handle Miles Gear or hey you go, do you
know Trey Henderson? Now I got Will Anderson and and Hunter,
and so I'm excited for the talent. I feel like

(07:16):
I play my best ball against these people, and you know,
I want to set the tone for the boys up front,
and I feel like if we go out there and
do the job that I know that we can do,
the ball is going to roll all way for sure.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
Gary Bull's joining us for a moment on the rookie class.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
R J Harvey getting three touchdowns in the game, Pat
Brian getting his first touchdown, and of course Shoddy Baron
on the opposit side of the ball getting an interception.
How I mean, as a guy, as a veteran in
locker room, has been around this team for so long,
how excited is it for you to see the young
guys having those flourished kind of moments yeah.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
I mean our young guys are you know, electric flying
for us. I mean, it's what's going to push us
down to stretch and make a deep playoff push and
continue to win games that we're winning. I mean, but
what what's how impressive is their work that taking what
they do day in and day out, and you know,
willing to ask questions and willing to be better and
always you know, asking coaches questions, always doing extra work,

(08:10):
always wanting just to be around ball. And you know
what I think god people need to know is like
without Pat Bryan blocking on the perimeter, Harvey doesn't score
or Courtland, you know what I mean, Like our receivers
are just dominant. And I think, you know, Courtland has
played such a big impudence to him, and I think Harvey,
you know with JK and his you know, him hitting
the holes and doing those things. But Pat Bryan, you know,

(08:31):
he's been obviously is so cool to see him score
a touchdown by him blocking on the perimeter is just outstanding.
And I think that's just what makes our team goes
is to have those things. And then Jade, you know,
big interception to you know, get us, you know, probably
one of our first ones this year and you know,
being that electrifying moment for him, and you know he's
such a dynamical ball player of just you know, finding

(08:53):
the ball and getting open and whatever it's called he does,
and you know, it's just it's just a fun group
of dudes to be around. This young generation on our
team is just going to make us who we are
and there are backbone their identity, and we need them
to play well for us to go down the stretch.
And you know it's going to be exciting to see
what happens last.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Morn for you, Garret, always appreciate the time I had
a conversation with somebody earlier we were talking about so
each game kind of its own encapsulation where some days
it's going to be a game like you guys had
against Dallas Cowboys, where a lot of things are clicking
on the offense, and some days it's going to be
like the Jets where it seems like you were kind
of stuck in neutral for times. Do you think that
that really kind of helps you guys overall as a

(09:31):
team as you build through the remainder of the year,
knowing that you found different ways to win, even sometimes
when it's not working out.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Well, yeah, for sure.

Speaker 6 (09:39):
I think you know, football sets in you know, first off,
it's the best sport in the world. But I think
what people don't realize is like it's a meter and
it's ticking, you know, for sixty minutes, even though it's
a four hour game with all the stops and does,
but it's a meter, and you know, there's big swings
in the game. You know, there's the two minute, and
there's a four minut, and then there's a two minute

(10:01):
halftime before halpen the two minut at the end of
the game, which I think is what who we create
ourselves is that we can score in too many situations.
But it's the ups and downs and it goes, you know,
in and out, and I think what you what you
have to realize is you have to when when that
meter switches to the other side, how fast can you

(10:21):
pull it back to you to your side to be
able to calm the game down and do things. And
you know, I think this team is just there's nothing
that fears us. I think, I mean to be able
to score thirty points in the game the week before
and then drop forty in this game, Like that's who
we are. I mean, it's just it. It's so much fun.
This is this is who we believe that we are.
We can play with anybody, and I think just you know,

(10:43):
no moments too big for us. And I'm just it's
this is probably like I said, this team is just different.
There's a different feel in this building. There's a different atmosphere,
there's a different identity, and I feel like we can
play with the best of the best. And you know,
when you have that confidence level and have those young
guys pushing you, especially the older vets, you know, when
you feel tired and you feel like you're down, and

(11:03):
those young guys, you know, make a big play for
us and then boom, you know, we're ready to go
score thirty like we did in the fourth quarter. It's
just who we are. We have a young quarterback, we
have young playmakers. You know, we have a great old line.
We have a great defense, and you know, we have
great coaches and we have all that and they're all
clicking on the same side that we're a tough team
to be and so just keeping that meter on our
side as much as we can and when we do

(11:24):
that and not get too high with the Higeo too
low with the lows where it tough seem to be.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
Appreciate the time, Garrett, best of luck on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Man.

Speaker 4 (11:30):
We will check in with you next week.

Speaker 6 (11:32):
Yeah, take care of y'all.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
Well, I appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Gara Bowles, Broncos left tackle. I had forty four points.
By the way, big time here Gara Bowls on KOI
Sports is presented by Kodiak Building Partners and the Kodiak
Foundation together creating meaningful change with seventy two to charity
is the Kodiak Foundation doing seventy two dollars for every
Denver offensive point and number seventy two GB three Foundation
making a difference for children, families, and veterans in our communities.

(11:56):
Currently for the season fourteen thousand, nine hundred and four,
man like I said forty four points.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
That that helps, no doubt about it. This came in
just a moment ago, Dave.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
The Broncos worked out forty one year old free agent
Mercedes Lewis tight end.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
They put it in a.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Couple of claims according to Adam Schefter on a couple
of inline blocking tight ends Brendan Bates and Ben Simms.
But Cleveland had a higher claim those order bates, and
then Minnesota had a higher claim and they got sims.
So the Broncos. I imagine this has to do with
Nate Adkins.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Yeah, I mean for sure I think he You know,
we talked a little bit about him after the game.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
I guess that would be yesterday.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
But he is an unsung hero, but one of the
more versatile players they have. You can line up at fullback,
he can play tight end, you can use him a
little bit in the vertical game.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
He's very smart.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
He's an above adequate blocker in line and above average
receiver coming out of the backfield and or the attached
tight end spots. So to lose him, you just lose
a guy that you know, you you you. You don't
have to change personnel groupings all the time. He can
change and make you right on whatever personnel grouping you

(13:17):
want to have in the game.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Now, Mercedes Lewis, just for a moment here, last year
played with Chicago, played in seventeen games. He's actually played
in seventeen games four seasons straight.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Now, big man, for those that don't know, what do
they listen Mercedes Lewis's size.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
That's question.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
I mean, you could just see the picture he's but
hold on, is.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
He big in the picture? Big picture that I did? Man,
he's big in this picture.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
I'm sorry, man, I need some caffeine. Let's see here.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
Mercedes Lewis is six foot six, two hundred and sixty
seven pounds.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
You go, six six and two seventy.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
His nickname is big Dog.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
Nice, you know what. He whatever he wants to be called.
I think at this point we're good with that.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Yeah, he did like twelve years in Jacksonville.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Played with Steelers too, didn't he He did.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Not play with the Steelers.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
He did Jacksonville, is with Green Bay, Oh, green Bay,
and then he was with Chicago for two years. The
fact that he's like playing again, he's more of a
blocking tiny at this point.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
But he wasn't.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
He was pretty decent, you know, all around. Tied in
there for a minute. Never cleared a thousand yards in
his entire career, the highest and again that's not why
you're having him in here anyways. But his best season
was in twenty ten. It's remarkable to think it's twenty
twenty five. David's twenty twenty five his best season. He
just played last year was in twenty ten, where he

(14:42):
had seven hundred receiving yards and ten receiving touchdowns.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
Yep, well again, you know if they make they have
signed him.

Speaker 4 (14:50):
Yet, have they No? They just worked him out today.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Yeah, So if they do sign him, you've got a
veteran guy, guy that's been a really good player.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
I mean, he is forty one years old. But wait
and see. Uh.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
I think I think losing Atkins is a little bit
more of a big deal than maybe a lot of
Broncos fans think that he's again. Man, he he fills
a lot of different buckets.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
I think a lot of Broncos fans if this ends
up being the Tiden move, it's going to be a
little deflating at least be on social media today.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
We are leading them down the well, I didn't know anything.
You're leading the witness. If I were the judge.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
It's not even a knock against Mercedes Lewis. It's just the.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
You just said what you you just portrayed, projected what
you believe.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
Yes, and you're.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Trying to get Broncos fans to believe it that it'll
be disappointing.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
No, it's the opposite of that. I'm saying, well.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Then you should state it's the opposite.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
I'm reading the temperature of the room.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
What room? Are you reading?

Speaker 4 (15:54):
The Internet?

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Here we go, Here we go, Internet boy, here we go.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
The Internet says, as I've been on there all morning
that when you see that the Broncos tried to claim
a couple of tight ends, yes they were unsuccessful.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
Yeah, that's not their fault. There's an order, right.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
Of course they understand that. And I don't think Broncos
fans are upset about missing.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Out on those two The spokesman of the quote Internet
yes group unquote.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
Then well then.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
Now they're thinking, okay, well the Broncos are clearly in
on tight ends. They're looking for tight ends. Let's make
a trade. Let's let's go get David and Joku. Let's
go get TJ. Hockinson, let's go get even Taysom Hill
if we have to go, do that directly. I mean,
that's that's where this morning's discussion has been. And so
then fast forward a few hours later, you and I
were doing the show together, and then we get the
reports that they worked out Mercedes Lewis. Yeah, Broncos fans,

(16:46):
I think from that tier of tight ends that they're
looking for.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Mercedes Lewis isn't n I think I.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
Think it depends.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Listen, if that's how they feel your people, then I
sort of get it. I kind of understand it is
is forty one years old, so.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
I get that.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
But I think that you got to understand if they
bring a tight end in, what they would be bringing
him in for the guy that all these guys that
you mentioned, like TJ. Hawkinson and David and Joe who.
I mean, I think the Broncos feel like they've got
that guy in Evan Ingram. So if you bring one

(17:26):
of those guys in to me, you bring him in
to replace Ingram. You don't bring him in to be
a double buckle chin strap guy and get attached and
then block down on power. I mean, that's at this
point in Mercedes Lewis's career, that's what he's going to do.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
But I get it.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
I mean, you're always you're always looking to upgrade the team.
I just think this team has been really pretty dog
on good in the draft the last two or three years,
and I don't think they want to part with draft
capital unless they absolutely have to.

Speaker 3 (17:57):
Well, and this is the other part of it is
Adam Schefter stirring the pod a little bit this morning
on his podcast, saying this.

Speaker 7 (18:04):
I'm still counting and waiting on deals for wide receivers.
We've got the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Buffalo Bills, the Denver Broncos,
other teams that have made.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
Calls about wide receivers.

Speaker 7 (18:17):
We've got the New Orleans Saints sitting on a collection
of wide receivers in which I think at least one,
at least one will be dealt in. If I had
to bet, I would say Rashid Shaheed is the guy
that interests most teams for his speed and his talent,
and the guy whose contract is up after this year,
who the Saints I think would be most willing to

(18:38):
part with if the compensation were fair and right.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
Okay, so.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
I must read an email seven to four to six,
So No. Seven to two, O three to three one
Dinosaur Dave needs to understand the internet is a valuable tool.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
I completely agree.

Speaker 6 (18:53):
Did that?

Speaker 1 (18:54):
No, No, I completely agree on your assertion to start with,
and years where I disagree. I was simply poking fun
at Ryan sort of living and dying with everything that
is on the net.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
That's all the Internet and they're his people.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
And if there was some sort of presidential election, which
based on what we've seen in the last I don't know,
ten fifteen years, I think in our lifetime there could
be and there could be a candidate from the Internet Party.
And if that's the case, Ryan, you at the age
of what are you forty two, forty five or you've
aged three years, probably feels like ten You at the

(19:32):
age of forty five, I think, I mean ten years
from now, when the Internet Party becomes very viable, you
could be one of the leading candidates if you decide
to run.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
I mean, you've deemed me a representative of the indet.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
I'd like to be your campaign manager. Should I still
be alive to the face of the earth.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
No list, there's a certain contingent I want to reach.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
I will reach all the dinosaurs, and we will both
reach the Internet clan, and we will wind up winning
the election.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
But at least you know, and I mean this endearingly
because we both love him to death, happened.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
Burn Brown used to do http slash slash w w
w rest him. Oh my gosh, I mean my first
starting radio V two.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
No me too. That's when we haven't one of the things.
We haven't countdown. All right, we'll come back.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
We got the news late yesterday on passer Tan and
it wasn't good. It wasn't the worst. It wasn't good though,
So we'll get to that information. I want to get
to Dave's take on that. We'll do that when we
come back on KWA.

Speaker 6 (20:32):
Our defense did what they need to do to give
us the ball in good field position.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Prescott throws the ball middle of the field, is going
to be intercepted. That ball intended for Jake Ferguson, and
the ball is intercepted by Jade Baron.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
There's the first interception of his career.

Speaker 6 (20:47):
And then you know, our special teams play phenomenal.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Mems underneath it. It's the seven the twenty. Stutter steps
behind Harvey's block and he breaks loose Man's at the thirty.
So the west sideline forty MAM's at the forty five
cuts back into Alright, he's in Dallas territory. That's what
I mean about that little joker. He is slippery as
can be.

Speaker 6 (21:06):
And then opposite you know, Bo controlled the game, controlled
the game clock, and then you know we did we
need to do to create running lanes and to get
the ball into our playmaker's.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
Hand tosses it left side. This is Harvey. Harvey with
a big run. Ar Jette Harvey is loose. Twenty fifteen
ten five touchdown the rookie RJ.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
Harvey A house call, A forty yard house call. I'm
gonna go Grants. That was outstanding. I like what you
just tell that little joker.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
I didn't remember I called him a little joker.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
That's a positive term.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
Yeah, by the way, Marvin, it is a positive term,
little joker. Of course, we might be without that little
joker coming up on Sunday. Yeah, he's got to get
his nogging right, no doubt about it.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
I want to get the bass or tand stuff here
in a second. But I want to see how late
you made it last night on the baseball game.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Yes, I can tell you. I turned the TV off
at twelve fifteen. I was I was saying, you know
what I'm going to say, and then it got to
the point like, can't I give it six?

Speaker 2 (22:04):
I'm done?

Speaker 4 (22:05):
So seventeenth inning ish?

Speaker 6 (22:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Point no, no, it was not. It was not yet
the seventeenth. It was like the sixteenth Okay, you made
it further than I did. Credit where it's due. I
got to about ten forty five, and that's good for you, though.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Well, as we discussed, I would be asleep by nine
point thirty every night if I could, but we typically
han't do that because most games go later than that.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
I did watch the Nuggets. That was a lot of
fun on Peacock.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
I didn't see it. I didn't. I didn't want to
go to peak.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
I was watching the NFL games, watching the Chiefs and
the Commanders, and man, the Commanders had so many opportunities.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
In the first half. Oh yeah, I mean, just.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
One off his face and gets intercepted at the twenty.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
You see Peyton Manning's reaction to I did not, Oh, okay, well,
I saw it later because I was actually watching the
main broadcast. I.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Like Peyton Manning and a lot of other ex quarterbacks,
do not like to see receivers create interceptions when the
ball hits them in the face.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
It was something like this, like, yeah, that was actually
it was a really funny moment. Very quickly here Peyton
asking Eli if he saw the Broncos Giants game.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
This is great, Hey, who won that Broncos Giants game.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
I didn't talk to you. You get to say it.
I mean, I mean that game. Watched that one?

Speaker 6 (23:15):
Is it game?

Speaker 2 (23:17):
Anything happened?

Speaker 5 (23:20):
I heard?

Speaker 2 (23:21):
I heard the girl.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Second the second time I watched a little bit.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
We turned it off in the fourth quarter were.

Speaker 4 (23:29):
Kansas was kind of I didn't I didn't watch that.
What was it good? Was it good?

Speaker 2 (23:36):
He got away?

Speaker 4 (23:37):
He has away? But anyways, Yes, you get two picks off.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
Pat Mahomes in the first quarter and then you just
get blown out. It was kind of like part and
parcel for the entire weekend in the NFL. I told
you about that yesterday. The average margin of victory was
over eighteen points per game, which is just remarkable.

Speaker 4 (23:56):
It's just so rare for the NFL that week.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
Teams home teams are winning at a rate that is
higher than what the NFL has experienced I think in
the last five, six, seven years.

Speaker 4 (24:06):
I think you're right.

Speaker 6 (24:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
Which is good news for the Broncos is they've on
a roll. Was it nine games straight?

Speaker 2 (24:10):
Nine game home winning streak.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
That is a fact, longest since believe twenty thirteen or fourteen.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
Let's keep it going. I like it so yeah.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
I made it till about ten forty five, I think
it was in the fourteenth inning or so. I was
kind of dozing at that point, and I was like,
you know this, this thing is probably gonna be epic.
Of course, it's going to be Freddy Freeman, right, because I.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
Just thought, even watching that, I said, it's just a
matter of time. They got too many guys that can
hit the ball out of the park. One of them
is going to catch up with something this deep in
the Toronto bullpen.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
And sure enough, Showhy was on base nine times.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
Got walked intentionally, what twice, had two home runs, two doubles,
or maybe got walked intentionally three times?

Speaker 4 (24:54):
Oh, four times?

Speaker 2 (24:55):
Four times?

Speaker 4 (24:55):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Right, he's pretty good.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
Player, all right. I think he's got a future in thing.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
And he's pitching tonight.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
And he's pitching tonight. That's gonna be a lot of fun,
all right.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
So I do want to ask you about Pat We
found that out in the five o'clock hour yesterday.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
It's a strain and they're least saying four, possibly up
to six weeks. But the timing of this is a
little bit interesting because of where the bye week sits.
Because it's remember is four games, right that you would
have if you put him on IR. If four games,
so you'd have to sort of decide do you want
to go ahead and just say he's going to be
out through the bye week, through that Washington game. If

(25:28):
you put him on IR, that's what you'd be deciding.
Ad minimum, Yeah, I don't have I don't have.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
The answer to that.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
I think it's they'll they'll determine what's the best way
to go it.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
Again, when I.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
Saw when I went back and looked at it again,
the replay of the injury, I didn't feel good about it.
I've just seen too many, so many guys with torn pecks,
which is what I thought it was, which a strain pack.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
Is a torn peck.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
It's just not torn to the level I've seen some
guys where they tear a peck, they have to shut
down for the year and it's a surgery thing.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
So this obvious is not good news.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
But if there is good news that it's not a
complete tear nor at least right now, does it indicate
that it's going to need surgery. So we just hope
he's a fast healer.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
Well that's the case, and we found out at least
last night that he was seeking a second opinion. So
I would assume you're seeking a second opinion because you
think maybe you can go faster, maybe some PRP injections.
We had some discussions about nano bubbles or wolverine blood
last night.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
You did it was that at home? But before you
went ninety nine? Who were you talking to him?

Speaker 4 (26:32):
I was with Ben and with Nick with Ben Kaman suity.

Speaker 3 (26:35):
He was like, you know, you always hit up Rust
for those nano bubbles, and Nick brought up the wolverine
blood and yeah, I mean so, I don't know if
those were options. I'm not a scientist. I don't even
try to play when I'm on Twitter.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
I don't either.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
But yeah, honestly, I felt a sense of relief. To
be completely fair, like people did not like that take.
I got summarily roasted for it, but I felt a
sense of relief because I was fearing the worst, like you,
you got you.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
You felt a sense of relief that he's not out
for the season.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (27:08):
And people are upset with you on that. Yes, these
are your people. Well this was Twitter or our text line.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
Our text line was crushing me last night, because I
was like, this is phenomenal news because you're going to
have him back for the I don't know that.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
I would in that regard. Maybe I agree with the Texters.
I don't know that I would categorize this as phenomenal news.

Speaker 4 (27:27):
Out six weeks for the season.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
By comparison, is that not phenomenal news, Like you're saying, Okay,
he could be out four weeks maybe and we got
a buy week coming out.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
I guess in comparison, but I think phenomenal news would
have been like, you know what, he's fine, He's gonna
be able to play against the texts.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
That would be at least in my phenomenal buckets.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
That would be in that one. Okay.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
So maybe I'm just trying to help you exaggerating. I
don't mean to, but I was. I guess I was elation.
It was elation for me in the moment, of course,
And you know, I probably had a Pumpkins Bye lattes,
So that's probably a little buzzing.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
Kind of like Sean and the Lates is more likely
to say anything you and the pumpkin lattes you cause
you sort of fight through the elation sort of smoke.
I get it, see and I know you understand me
in that respect.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
I do.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
But yeah, So to get him back, I guess again,
doctors all that we have to figure out from their
perspective what makes the most sense, what makes the most
sense for Pat strategically though, for the Broncos, I mean,
you want him. You want him back as close to
one hundred percent as you can possibly get him.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
So you're not going to jeopardize Pats or ten early
in his career. You're not going to bring him back
until you know he's ready to go. He might not
be completely one hundred percent, but he's going to be
to the point that he's ready to go. He can
defend himself, he can cover all those things. If there
is any sort of positive here, he can still work
out with this at some point. I'm not sure he's

(28:57):
going to be running in the next week or so
with that thing. But hey, what they have to do
is is try to find a way defensively, And they
would I think they would bristle if I said this,
but I'm gonna say it anyway. You try to find
a way. You got to keep your head above the
water line. When he's gone, now the pass rushers and
everybody else in the defense will say, listen, bro, we're

(29:18):
a damn good defense. We'll find a way. And I
like that attitude for sure. I just don't discount what
it means to lose the best player in the world
at his position and think that they're not gonna miss
a half step or a step.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
Now, how you deal with.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
That in the scheme that Vans has to come up with,
I think it's going to be really interesting to watch.

Speaker 4 (29:41):
This is a very tenuous time in the season. There's
no denying that fact.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
You've got the Chiefs are now five and three, the
Chargers who already beat you once they're five and three,
and you're sitting on top of.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
The AFCU West to six and two. You can't let up.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
And it's not to say that you aren't going to
lose the game the rest of the season. I don't
think anybody's making that argument. But the fact is, this
is a game coming up against the Texans you'd really
not like to give away, and it would feel like that.
I think the Texans are by the way favored now,
but just a couple of days ago, the Broncos were
favored in this game, and maybe the pass or ten

(30:16):
news did shift that.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
A little bit.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
I don't know, but it's a game that I feel
like you should or I don't know, could win.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
Maybe you should win, and then of course you got
the Raiders on the other side of that, and then
you'd like to have that Chiefs game at home.

Speaker 4 (30:31):
And by the way, they got some bad news.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
Isaiah Pachicko is going to be a week to week
with a strained mcl is what they're calling it. You
saw him pull up last night, or an MCL sprain,
so that could be a pretty significant. Of course, they
still have Kareem Hunt there. He continues to be very
relevant into their offense. He got two touchdowns last night,

(30:53):
a rushing one and a receiving one from Pat Mahomes,
and they obviously rolled over Washington. I don't know if
that game would have been much more. It much been
closer if Jaydon Daniels was playing. Chiefs are really feeling
pretty good about themselves, really in all three phases right now,
playing with a lot of confidence. So that's gonna be
a tough game coming up here. Good news for the Broncos, though,

(31:14):
they're gonna have ten days.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
To get ready for it.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
So you have this game down in Houston, you come
home for a quick turnaround to host the Raiders. They're
coming off of bye this week, so you're actually gonna
have the same amount of rest as the Raiders are.
It's good news there, and then you got ten days
to prepare for the Chiefs. It's gonna be a monster game,
and then you'll have your bye week. It's kind of

(31:38):
good timing all around for all of it, and maybe
even good time here for Pats or Tan. A lot
of stuff this morning was about whether Pats or Tan
should be replaced on the outside by Jade Baron. I
think for Broncos fans out there that feel as though, well,
this is why you draft the first round cornerback, and
he needs to play in a situation like this, think

(32:00):
he needs to play when the coaching staff teams him
ready to play.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
That's my opinion.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
He's been getting consistently more work. They've brought him in,
as you saw this last week to be kind of
a tight end e racer. So you notice Jake Ferguson,
who leads the NFL for tight ends with catches and touchdowns,
didn't have a single catch in that game and the
only target he had, John Aymern picked off.

Speaker 4 (32:25):
There's a reason for that. Broncos historically, especially with Van
Joseph defensive struggle.

Speaker 2 (32:29):
Against tight ends.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
I don't want to mess with his role too much.
Just yet personally, same thing with jay Kwan McMillan. I
don't want to mess with his role too much. I
think the natural spot here is to put Chris Abrams
drain on the outside and see where it goes from there.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
And by the way, there was an obnoxious trade suggestion
this morning by Ben Solak with ESPN. Now, granted he
hates the Broncos. Well, he just doesn't like bone Nicks.
He is not a Bonex guy, made that very clear.
In fact, last year during one of the games, he

(33:06):
tweets something obnoxious about him Coast playing as a quarterback.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
What a idiot, Oh what a loser. So today he
suggested again, Mind you, the Broncos are six and two
in the lead in.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
The AFC West, he suggested they trade Jaquon McMillan and
a twenty twenty six seventh round pick to the Eagles.
I think that's his favorite team, so it kind of
lines up for a twenty twenty sixth sixth rounder and
a twenty twenty seven sixth rounder.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened
to it.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Even acknowledging which he did, that Pat Certanna's out and
going to be out for a little while saying well,
that has no impact whatsoever on Jaiquon McMillan's role, as though, hey, hey, listen,
you trade your starting nickel while you're dealing with your
starting outside corner. There are two different positions. They they

(34:04):
don't impact each other whatsoever. It's sanity. And that's even
before we get to the trade compensation, which isn't even close.
This is a starting nickel playing on one of the
best defenses in the league that is leading the AFC
West right now.

Speaker 4 (34:23):
Now, I get it. You know in national media.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
Sometimes and especially ones that are big fans of, say
Howie Roseman, want to get another win for Howie Roseman
because we love talking about how great Howie Roseman is.

Speaker 4 (34:36):
Like, we haven't had that enough, I believe for this city,
not Howie Chrozman.

Speaker 3 (34:43):
So I imagine that had something to do with the
trade package here is like, hey, wouldn't this be great
for the Eagles? Yes, it would be great for the Eagles,
it would be a disaster for the Broncos. It would
be an embarrassment for the Broncos. But there's no way
George Peyton would hang on the line long enough to
listen to the end of that conversation, and nor should he,

(35:05):
because that is an insult. If Howie Roseman legitimately called
the Broncos with that trade offer, we'll come back with
some more of that.

Speaker 4 (35:12):
Five six six nine zero is your text line if
you want to hit us up.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
We're gonna have Jake Plumber joining us, coming up at
four point thirty today, Rod Smith in studio at five,
and I'm gonna tell you when we come back how
you can win Broncos Raiders tickets.

Speaker 4 (35:27):
We'll get to that next
