Speaker 1 (00:00):

Benjamin Albright and Nick Ferguson looking forward to uh hearing
what they have to say about not only today's press
conferences as well as the news that we have you
people you cannot call now, not just yet. Hold on
one second, one second. People are jumping the gun man,
(00:20):
I tell you what I tell them, five oh five.
And they they're testing. A lot of people have add
they're testing. Yeah, just let them do their thing like velociraptors.
That happens. Man testing the perimeter. All right, caller number ten,
Here you go right now, three oh three seven one
three eighty five eighty five. Caller ten, three oh three
(00:40):
seven one three eighty five eighty five, and you're going

they're like you, that's good, that's cool. Yeah, I understand. Listen,
I tell them earlier in the show at five o
five and you're like, I'm start now.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
That happens on the morning show as well with me. Yeah, yeah,
they call early, they'll call after.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
His phones will be ringing for a while, Yes it
will as well. No, no, no, that about it all right?
Five six six nine zero is our is? There is
a text line here. Somebody asks just what time is it?
Call right now? Literally right now, so hopefully you are
calling in right now. Okay, so somebody's asking quickly. On
Drew Sanders. I did hear he's out of his boot,
But I don't think they haven't given us anything nothing
(01:43):
on Drew Sanders, and they haven't even opened to practice
window or anything for him. So I think we're still
a little ways away.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yeah, I wouldn't expect much from him. Unfortunately this season
we're already mid season, really really too bad, because a
guy with a ton of potential, really high ceiling, and
he's just been one of those guys that seems to
get injured. And sometimes that happens to players where they
just can't stay healthy enough to fulfill their potential.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
So there might be And I don't want to read
too much into things, but and Dave accused me of
this all the time, so you can make fun of
me too. But I don't want to read too much
into things. But I like, I'm looking for positivity. Okay,
here was Corland Sudden talking about Chris Abram's train and
has a really nice thing to say about Pastor Tan.
And I'm going to tell you what I what we
(02:33):
feel like we've learned about Pastor Tan in just a moment.
But first year's Courland Saiden talking about Chris Abrams strain.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
And Katie had the pick against the charges last year
and a lot of people were surprised. I wasn't surprised
because the dude one is a unique talent. You know,
he's very gifted at what he does. But a lot
of people don't know that he has a great ball
skills because he's a receiver. You know, he can track
the ball very very well. So you know, meaning to
(02:58):
watch those guys go out there and stay up up,
It's gonna be a lot of fun to see them
go out there and have you know, have the opportunities
to be able to go and perform, because we know
what the capable of, you know, is just waiting for
the opportunity, and I know pass even though he's not
on the field, he's gonna be definitely in their ear
helping them in the meeting rooms and helping them in
practice understanding.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
You know, the best ways to go out there and
have success.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
So Pat also does a podcast joins us on Fridays too,
but he also does a podcast, and he said on
his podcast, via a Parker gabrielism, reading what he typed out,
I'm thinking, how can I get better from this? How
can I learn from it? I'm going to attack rehab
look to get better. It's going to suck, though, because
I love being out there with my guys competing, and
(03:43):
then added, I'll be back out there in no time.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Okay. So we're having a conversation earlier to hear him
say that carry some weight. We speculated a lot in
the first hour, and I'm glad to hear him say that,
So that maybe is some insights into really where he's
at because we don't know.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
We should text that to doctor Schneinder.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Why don't we get Doc Schneider off again and go, hey,
did you make that vet yet? Yeah, that he was
going to have surgery. I think that's really positive and
Pat will certainly be able to help out Chris Abramstrang.
And that being said, every time Chris Abrams Drain has
had a chance to play and I watch him, you
(04:28):
could tell right away as a rookie the game was
not too big for him. You could tell he belonged
out there. And I've liked what I've seen from him.
He seems very confident and he's an aggressive type player.
Also good tackling as well, not just some pass coverage,
but in tackling. I'll be really interested to see how
he does. This could be an opportunity for him to shine.
(04:50):
Let's look at it that way.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
He shows up in camp two when we saw it,
when he gets opportunities in camp, past deflections, past breakups
as well as interceptions. I mean, he's he's very active.
And there's the reason why Coach Payton said this earlier
in the in press conference early today.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Well, I think two things that stand out and I'm
looking at him right now. He's extremely intelligent, and I
would say he might have the best hands on this team.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
He's got a leap ball skills.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
And so now he's quiet, but real good football instincts
and really good ball skills.
Speaker 5 (05:32):
Okay, best hands on the team, yes, And that being said,
you know they're going to test.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Him and maybe there's an interception in his future, so
they're going to go right at him.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Corland said, was asked about best hands on the team.
Huh you know, to a wide receiver. Okay, well right, yeah,
he say, here we go. I'm not gonna argue a coach.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Coach knows best like you know your parents know best.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
I let coach had him, Katie. Do's have really really
good hands.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Though, watching him cats the ball in practice, you can
tell that there's some pass receiver in there.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
So I don't think it's all the way gone. It's
you know, once it's there.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
He's usually mostly always there.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
So yeah, coach is always right.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
That's good philosophy to have there.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Cold yeah, but very interesting comments from Sean Payton. It
gives you some optimism. They think this kid's a player.
I think he is too, and they'll give him some help.
The safeties will help him out. Broncos have one of
the top safety duos in the league and they're certainly
going to be able to help him out. Pats or
Tan will be able to help him out. I'm guessing
(06:42):
he'll be on the sideline for the game, right I
haven't heard he's not traveling with the team.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Well, and that's kind of what Corland was alluding to there. Again,
they can only speak so much on injuries, right, but
he basically laid it out there as Hey, pats er
Tan is going to be involved in this, and it
kind of goes to the point that we were talking
about with Dave earlier. I'm glad he brought the psychological
component up of this entire thing. Losing Patser Tan for
(07:08):
that defense, he's your captain, He's the best cornerback in
the league. That could be devastating, even for just for
a game. I mean, assuming it's going to be a
couple but just for a game can be devastating. You're
on a roll, you've won five straight games, you have
a very good chance of making a six on Sunday,
but you don't want to impact the locker room or
(07:29):
the confidence of the locker room in a negative way
by losing this. But then there's a reason why they
have the depth a that they have. You drafted a
first round cornerback, Chris Abrams Drain had opportunities last year
to start, he showed some flashes. There's a belief inside
that building and a reason why they went so heavy
at that position because it gets tested. Your death is
(07:51):
always gonna be tested. So whether it's gonna be Riley
Moss this year, or Passer Tan or jay Kwan McMillan,
somebody was probably over the course of the odds, we're
in the favor of somebody getting hurt. And now you
have the depth for a reason. But he's going to
be involved from the psychological component. He's going to be
involved in this, whether it's a game plan, it's helping
these guys prepare or be out there on the field
(08:13):
and see things the way he sees them. I mean,
nobody can play like he plays, but he can still
help him with his brain.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
And you know who's no longer going to be the
most targeted cornerback in the league, Riley Moss, at.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Least arguably at the beginning of the game.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
They're going to go. I believe they'll test out Chris
Abramstrain as they should, and if they're successful, they'll keep
going at him. If not, then they may turn to
the other side of the field and go, Okay, let's
go back to Riley Moss and see what he can do. Riley,
I think is a good player. He's had a lot
of penalties called on him. But when you look at
(08:48):
the numbers, I know you're a big next gen stat
guy and all the analytics. Riley Moss rates really high
as a cornerback. Sometimes it doesn't look so good because
go at him a lot, and he does.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
He does have a lot of prs this year.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
But when you get targeted as much as he's been targeted,
that's gonna happen. But I think he's held up pretty well.
I think we'll be okay this Sunday. The Texans offense
had a good game last week against the Niners, but
they've been very mediocre up to this point.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
And c J.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Stroud had a good game, really his best game of
the year.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Game of the year. Yeah, this is the only this
is the first game he's thrown for over three hundred
yards this entire season.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Okay, so let's hope that was an outlier last week.
I think what you have to worry about with the Texans.
Is that defense is for real. That defense is right
up there with the Broncos as one of the top
two to three defenses in the league. They're the they
allow the least amount of points in the league. Going
(09:52):
into this game, Broncos are right there with them. But
I think when you look at this Broncos defense is
going to give c. J. Stroud in the Texans a
lot of problems even with out pass ten and I
think the Broncos offense seems to be catching fire when
you look at seventy seven points scored in the last
(10:13):
five quarters. Now, yeah, last week the Cowboys are horrible
and they were beat up on top of it, but
you gotta be feeling pretty confident seventy seven points in
five quarters going into this game. I think it's going
to be a low scoring game. I do think the
Broncos come out of this winning twenty to seventeen something
(10:33):
like that. It's going to be close, but low scoring.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
I feel I'm actually with you on that. I think
I said yesterday, I think this is sort of a
race to twenty or twenty four. That's kind of what
it feels like, is if you get into that range,
you're probably good. You're probably gonna win this game. The
offensive tackles, and we'll have a chance to chat with
somebody later in the week on you know, what's going
on with them? They give in a fifteen sacks. I mean,
this is a front line, an offensive line that has
(10:57):
struggled at a large part this season.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Actually pretty bad.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
That's right, Yeah, that's right. And so you know CJ. Stroud,
I think is working around it. They still don't have
a one hundred yard rusher, right and and and so
you maybe say, well, Nick Chubb isn't that guy anymore?
And I think he does look a tick slow and
would make sense he's coming off injury. Another one, wood
He Marx though, I am very impressed with they're running
back Woody Marx. He's a rookie. Yeah, he's great in
(11:25):
the passing game. He honestly at some point will probably
end up being the lead back. The weird thing that
still remains is nobody knows what's going on with Joe Mixon.
And this would probably be a little bit of a
different game if they had a healthy Joe Mixon, because
last year they were a different team with a healthy
Joe Mixon. But they don't have that. They'll probably get
Nico Collins back for this game. He's coming off concussion protocol.
(11:46):
He I think was limited today. Yeah, he ended up
being limited today, But you mentioned it. Dalton Schultz, who's
a starting that in for him, he didn't practice, that's right.
Dylan Horton's an equal Atrey. They'll are two big defensive
ends that didn't practice today. Jalen Petrees one to follow here.
He was limited with a foot injury, but he leads
(12:07):
the team in interceptions and he's super talented. So they're
a little banged up coming into this game. Again, very talented,
and they're going to be fired up for this game
for a multitude of reasons. You know, a little bit
of an X factor. Drake Greenlaw, he knows Ryan's the key,
knows tendencies there.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Good point, and we don't talk about him. We really
haven't been talking about him. What do you play one
half of a football game? He got suspended, But yeah,
I think Drake Greenlaw good thing he's coming back because
he's certainly going to add something to this defense, and
especially with PS two out, you bring in a Pro
Bowl caliber player at linebacker. Hello, it's a big deal. Yeah,
(12:50):
I'm glad you brought him up.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Yeah, it's it's a really big deal. And so again,
I don't feel like we have to actually squint too
hard to see the path to a victory on this one. Now,
maybe the Houston Texans feel the same way. Right They
won three of their last four. The loss in between
was Seattle, and they did. They got their butts kicked
against Seattle. That was a pretty that was a primetime game.
(13:14):
They got beat up pretty bad on that second half
of the doubleheader against Seattle. They started out zero to three.
Part of me doesn't know what to think about this team,
and I think part of it is because the wins
they have they really took advantage of beating up on
kind of broken defense. Like they got a massive win
over the Baltimore Ravens, but that was really at the
(13:36):
Ravens lowest point, and at that point people were wondering, well,
if the Texas can't do this, it was kind of
like Lebroncos against Dallas this last week is like, if
the Texas can't beat up on this Dallas, there's Baltimore
defense that is destroyed, decimated by injury, then what's wrong
with them? They put forty four points. I mean they
went they went off. I don't think they did all
on that offense that day. They had a pick six
(13:56):
in there, but you know what I'm saying, like they
had their moment off, it's all coming together, and then
they went out there and just got destroyed by Seattle.
So I don't think. I don't actually know if they're
a good team. Like we said with Indianapolis, I think
they are a good team. At this point. You can
sort of pick out midway through the season who is
probably a good team. I don't think Houston is a
good team. Good defense, but not a good all round team.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
Yeah, they feel like middle of the pack team. Yeah,
and even with the good defense and something. I don't
know what's up with c. J. Stroud, but he's certainly
not looking like the quarterback he was his rookie year.
We talked about him, Man, what a sensational rookie year
he had, and he hadn't looked the same, and you
would think he's confidence had been rattled a little bit.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
For sure.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
Broncos, you know, are going to put a rush on
him because their offensive line, as you mentioned, as right
in the mix for one of the worst offensive lines
in the NFL. They are, and so that's a good
thing for this defense too. And so they got to
put pressure on him because without PS two out there,
lock down that side of the field, and it looks
like Nico Collins will be back by the way. Without
(15:04):
PS two locking down that side of the field, you're
gonna have to put pressure with your front four, and
we know they're fully capable of doing that, especially against
this Texans offensive line five six six nine zeros or
ka common spirit health text line.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Somebody pointing out Houston beat two backup quarterbacks and one
rookie quarterback. They're not good. Yeah, I mean one of
the wins against the Titans, right, I mean that's cam
warp cam Ward. They beat Baltimore without Lamar Jackson. That
would have been an interesting one if Lamar could have
played in that one. And then yeah, they beat Mac Jones.
Now I listen, I am a Mac Jones.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Fan, are you?
Speaker 5 (15:40):
I am?
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Weirdly though, because yeah, well, actually part of this is
because of Dave. Like most things, because I do, I
get dug in on some things, and I'll acknowledge this
is maybe a character flaw on my own, but I
was making the case in the off season the Broncos
should bring in mac Jones, as I could imagine what David,
(16:01):
Oh god, he killed me. Are you real? Mac Jones? Right,
I'm telling you there's something still there with mac Jones. Now,
of course he goes to Kyle Shanahan. Kyle Shanahan's very
good at getting the best out of some of these guys,
looking Sam Darold for example. Right, So I just felt
like there was something still there, and mac Jones actually
(16:22):
had a pretty good season.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
Filling in I'll give you that.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
Yeah. Yeah, So, but I thought, as a sort of
a rehabilitation opportunity, right, like you did with Zach Wilson,
you bring in mac Jones as as either of your
bad because this was before I think before they ended
up giving an extension to Jared Siddam or something along
his lines around that time. Okay, So I was like, listen,
you can keep Sidham. I have no problem with that,
(16:45):
but I'd still consider bringing in mac Jones and kind
of like you has Zach Wilson, Hey you come here,
hang out for a year, and we'll make you some
money somewhere else. And he decided to go to the
forty nine ers, which was a smart move because now
he is going to make some money after this. You think, yeah,
he's been good.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Yeah he has, but he's to me, he's still a
backup quarterback. You look at him as a starting quarterback
in the league.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
Have you seen what we're rolling out these days? Is
starting caliber?
Speaker 2 (17:09):
Okay, you're right, all right, Yeah, I mean he'll have
a long career.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
He just got talking about super huffly, but.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
I think he'll have a long career as a backup. Okay,
maybe maybe not even a long career as a backup.
I don't think he's as good as you think he is.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
You don't think the Vikings would take him right now?
Speaker 5 (17:27):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Yes, you know it's hard to believe. They have JJ
JJ McCarthy's sitting there their first round draft pick.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
You don't think the Saints would probably rather have?
Speaker 2 (17:39):
I mean, yeah, I think the Saints they've given up
on their season at this point.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Yeah, I'm just saying a better quarterback. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
They just benched Rattler.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Yeah, so they're going to tower shock.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Do you think Matt Jones is better than Spencer Radler?
Speaker 1 (17:52):
I think it.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
I think it's a toss up.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
Okay, how about the Jets. Come on, come on, Rick, give.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
You this Oneyrod Taylor or Justin Fields. Oh, Justin Fields.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
He can't complete a forward pass.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
I can't give you that one.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
That's the owner saying that it's not me because he
can still run.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
He makes plays with his legs. So you I'm just
not a Matt Jones guy. No, he Matt Jones. I
wasn't a mac Jones guy coming out of college either.
How about the Bengals a Flacco hurt, I'd rather Flaco.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
Okay, what if it's not Flacco, I'd go with Browning,
really go with brown Okay, So I was being dug in.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Come on, well, I don't have a dog in the
fight like you do with mac Jones. I just don't.
I think he's a backup quarterbacks or worse than to him.
I think he's worse. Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
I I think Mike mc dad you would probably be
like a I'll now we're getting.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Into a who's worst conversation?
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Right?
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Okay, so we've started with a who's better? Now it's
a who's worst conversation. I think he's probably as bad
as to her.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
I think mac Joe's could be a top forty quarterback
in this league. Really legitimately you look, what's Dave's not here?
Speaker 2 (19:19):
Oh oh, he'd be killing you.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
There's a reason I'm doing this with you, right, Okay,
all right, well.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
You're not selling me. You haven't done a good job
selling it.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
All respect loss for Rick Browning over Mac Yeah for real, man.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Uh well, first of all, this is not a hill
to die on for me like it is for you.
By the way, this is not a hill. Now we're
actually arguing about who's worst, Jake Browning or Mac Jones,
not who's better. And when you look at them, and
I just did a little deep dive into both of them,
Jake Brownie started ten games, so a very small body
(19:58):
of work. Mac Jones is fifty two starts. But when
you look at their stats, very comparable. Browning eighteen touchdowns,
fifteen interceptions, sixty eight point four completion percentage. He's four
and six as a starter. Mac Jones sixty touchdowns, forty
five interceptions, sixty five point nine percent completion percentage. He's
(20:21):
twenty three and thirty two as a starter. We're arguing
pretty much about the same guy. They're very similar backup quarterbacks.
Mac Jones has played a lot more football, So that
being said, I will give you that.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
But the trend of the two, like the more recent trend.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Well, mac Jones playing on a on a really good
football team.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
The Bengals were supposed to be really good. Coach, the
Bengals have Jamar Chase and T Higgins. I don't know
if that's the hard you want to go on.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
That's true. I'm not going to die on this hill,
but I'm just saying mat.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Jews has been doing this with uh with without Juwan Jennings,
without without Ricky Piersoll, without George Kittle.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
He does have Christian McCaffery and Christian McCaffrey who has
been playing really well, really well.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
It's really good.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Yeah, he's back.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
That does help.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
So I don't know, I just think they're both about
the same quarterback. Although mac Jones was a first round
draft pick, Browning was not higher expectations for mac Jones.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
He has way more experienced. I'll give you that.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
So if it came down to one game, who would
I take, I'll go with mac Jones way because of
fifty two starts.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
Okay, thank you, I'll give you that. Give me that,
but I'm not dying on this hill.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
This is not a hill for me to docky on
at all.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
By the way, you saying like the we're arguing who's
better who worse isn't like the quintessential sports talk radio.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Yeah, it is pretty much right. It kind of is.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
The next thing we need to do is like get
into your Mount Rushmore and we've literally brought it all
full circle. I'm just saying, like, that's that's what it is.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
We're arguating over Mac Jones and Jake Brownige.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Right, right, hole. But great thoughts on Houston, Ryan, I
was a bit worried, but now I feel better. I mean,
I don't want to It's not my place to tell
one team that they're not very good, because I know
I actually think Houston. I think they're really well coached.
Defense is incredible, all three levels have dudes like they
(22:20):
are so good at all three levels. There are not
a lot of holes on that defense. But offensively, it
just doesn't do it for me, and I see more
flaws in what CJ. Stroud's doing and their offensive line.
I don't believe in their running game. I don't think
they really do either. It has yet to pop. So
you don't want to be the team that pops against Okay,
(22:41):
so you don't want to like speak that into existence.
But what everybody says is kind of like what they've
been saying about the Broncos for years, like hey have
a really good defense and an inconsistent offense. The Broncos, though,
like with the exception of this last game against the Texans,
I think the Broncos have shown more this year with
their offense than the Houston Texas do. And the stats
(23:02):
beare it out. The Broncos are a top ten offense.
You realize that, like some people will push back on
that day, they don't flick a top ten offense, which
is by the numbers, they're twenty five point nine points
per game, which is tenth, you know, versus twenty one
point nine which is nineteenth for the Texans. You know,
it's a ninth in yards per play, they are third
in rushing, they are number one in sacks allowed, and
they are sixth in red zone percentage. Those are just
(23:25):
Blanke's stats on what the Broncos are doing right now. Offensive.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
They're definitely better on the offensive side of the ball
then they've been, and I think better than the Texans
as well. Offensively, the defenses are comparable, and that should
give you some optimism that they're going to go on
the road and they're going to win their sixth great
game today.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
And the Texans offense is thirty first in the red zone, okay,
which is again is another indication of where they're really
struggling because they don't have much of a run game.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
And what's the Broncos defense still number one?
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Probably and the Broncos defense is still number one, yeah,
in the red zone. This is I got to look
up this number because I don't know if this is
true for the Texans, because on here says the Texans
are the worst or the second worst red zone percentage.
Maybe may Zach, maybe you can look that up. Because
on this sheet that the Broncos sent out, they say
(24:15):
the Texans give up seventy point six percent in the
red zone as far as touchdown conversion. That feels a
bit high for this defense. So we'll look that up.
Because they were like, that's top five across the board.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
That doesn't seem like that's got to be a bad number.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Yeah, so we'll we'll we'll take a look at that.
All right, what do you got what do you got
for me, Zach.
Speaker 6 (24:36):
They're not second worst, they are tied for the worst.
They are allowing a touchdown. I'm shocked by this too.
They are allowing a touchdown on seventy point five nine
percent of their opponent possessions. Excuse me, that is tied
with New England for worse than the NFL. They have
whatexact same percentage, seventy point five to nine percent.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
So that number one.
Speaker 6 (24:58):
Yeah, the teams that are slightly better than them Cincinnati, Atlanta, Dallas,
and the New York Giants.
Speaker 5 (25:05):
Okay, okay, So if you can get into the red
zone right against this vaunted Texans defense, you cash in.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Everybody does almost seventy one percent of the time.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
Interesting, and they're they're calling them the new Legion of
Doom or Legion of boom. Have you have you seen
that talk? I have not, Like even Derek Stingley, he's
now referencing the old Seahawks defense and comparing their defense
to them.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
You don't know that that's an overstatement. Yeah, you don't
get to be that if you're that bad in the
red zone. I mean, it's halfway, well, we're halfway with
the season. You can't say it's early. That's a number
of the year where and that's just who you are.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
See, I hadn't seen that stat, the red zone stat. Now,
that gives me even more optimism about this game.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
And you're you're an optimistic guy by the way, anyway, right.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Right, I all know that I can't hide that, right yeah.
And I come out here every week and I give
you an optimistic take on what I think the game
is going to be and and I take a little
heat for that, but hey, listen, I've been right five
times in a row now. I've won five straight games.
I picked all of them.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Where's your optimism for the Broncos winning the AFC West.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Where do we stand right now? I think they I
think they win the AFC West. I feel like they
will even with PS two out for three four games.
If he's out the whole year, it's gonna be a
little tougher.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
I don't like you to me. I like that. I
like them to win the AFC West me too. For sure,
sheets are good. I mean certainly if you stumble a bit,
they are. And if you stumble against them, then that
that could change the math. But it just it just
feels like. And I asked Gera Bowls about this yesterday.
(26:51):
I believe that finding unique ways to win games when
they're not even playing their best football is the mark
of a good team. It's a mark of a team
that has internal belief in themselves. So if they were
just blown out every opponent, I actually probably not feel
as good as I do right now. The way they
won against the Jets was ugly. I mean, that's one
(27:13):
of the ugliest games besides last year's game against the Jets.
Something about the Jets. It was ugly. But you know what,
I didn't really ever think they would lose that game.
I mean, there was a kind of a moment there
that it kind of got dicey when the Jets got
to midfield and I was like, and you are ever texting?
I was like, I don't know, man, now I'm not.
I'm feeling fine until that moment. And then of course
(27:34):
they locked it down and they got a couple of
sacks and it was over. But the point of it
is is they just finding unique ways to win is
kind of the hallmark of a good team in the NFL,
is it not?
Speaker 2 (27:45):
Yeah, And you nailed that, you know, one of the
benefits of my job is being able to be around
this team in close quarters. We travel with the team.
We're on the Broncos charter. And when they lost those
two games early on the last play of the game,
you'd be surprised. The team didn't seem like they were
worried at all. They've been confident this entire season, even
(28:09):
those two gut wrenching losses back to back. This team
knows how good they are and they know how good
they can be. And I saw that early on, and
I was a little surprised by it. I thought maybe
we'd see a really dejected football team after those first
two losses. They have not been And so you're right,
you nailed it.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
They really believe and they are fully.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
Bought in to their head coach Sean Payton.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Top of the our Benjamin Olbrigens Studio with us timon
how's it go. It's good. You are off to a
very nice start here on the week. You are leading
us and show me the money. I am doing the opposite.
I keep fading you. You'll learn one of these days
it's going to work. Though, you know, people trick themselves
into all sorts of Yeah, it does work for us.
It never works for it never works, But I work
(29:00):
for us. Now Again, it's not like all of us
are crushing it. I mean, you're three and one, days
one and three, nixt two and two. I'm mo and four,
So but filling things right around?
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Have you?
Speaker 1 (29:10):
Uh? And I know it's been very late for you, Rick,
have you caught any of the baseball life.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
I've been watching and I typically don't watch much baseball
until we get the postseason.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
Well, you you probably the other night. You probably just
woke up and started watching the game.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
It was it ended the time I got up, right, Yeah,
that was a crazy game. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:29):
Did you see.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Brad Paisley saying the national anthem at both eighteen inning games?
In World Series history, there's only been two. I did
not know that he sang before both of them.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
He's not allowed to sing.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
Yeah, no more, no more, Brad. Yeah, that's that's a
crazy That's that's almost an astronomical.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
That's like, there's insane coincidence.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
The odds are just incredible. You can't even you can't
even come up with them.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
I wonder if you're more likely to win the lottery
or not.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
I would say probably more unlikely. I think you're more
likely to win the lottery than Brad Paisley singing before
two eighteen inning World Series games, and they're the only
two in history.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
Yeah, I'm gonna have to I'm gonna have to crunch
the numbers on this later.
Speaker 6 (30:15):
Brad Paisley has done the national anthem for the World
Series two other times. Both those other games win extras
as well.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
Wow wow, Okay, so every game he's saying has gone
to extra extra and two of them are only eighteen.
Speaker 7 (30:28):
Is no longer allowed to sing unless it's a game
seven by the new rules of touch Steel.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
But apologies to Bill Mahrks. I wonder what kind of
odds you could get on?
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Again?
Speaker 1 (30:38):
We talk about gambling, right, what kind of odds you
get on? Like Brad Paisley singing tonight? This is how
you know you're a degenerate, right right? Immediately go like
can this be an extra innings game or that type
of thing?
Speaker 2 (30:51):
And I mean and will from now on anytime I
see Brad Paisley singing tonight for real?
Speaker 1 (30:56):
Is it? I don't I don't think. I don't know.
If he's seen to night, we're no longer doing Brad
pays these unless it's Game seven of the world. So
I'm just saying, so Mercedes Lewis is now here or
Mercedes Lewis Sean Yeah, twentieth year, forty one years old,
And we talked about it, how his rookie year was
Sean Payton's rookie year at the Saints. Yeah, he decided
(31:16):
I'll tie it into this weekend as well.
Speaker 7 (31:18):
He and Debico Riots were the same draft class, right,
We talked about that too.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
That's Ron, believe it.
Speaker 7 (31:23):
If Morton Anderson and any Testaverdi we're all still playing
in the league when Mercedes Lewis.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
Came out crazy, Yeah, And if he catches a pass,
he'll be the oldest tight end to catch a pass
to the NFL.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Yeah, I be the only over forty. He's already the oldest,
I believe.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
And if he plays in one game, he'll be the
oldest tight end that I've played, correct. Yeah, And you
know he's going to get in. Is he gonna play?
You think I think he will? Yeah? What do you think?
I think?
Speaker 7 (31:47):
They brought him in as an inline blocker, but also
brought him in because al Pal's over at the left
guard now.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
And that those six old line looks that they've been doing,
which are vogue.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
In the league.
Speaker 7 (31:56):
He's going to be the guy over there. That's what
they did to Jason Peters late in his career too.
You know, Peters actually started out as a tight end
at Arkansas and then he moved to uh or he
moved to offensive tackle in the league, and then he
went back to you know.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
For the last couple of seasons, he was kind of
that sixth offensive lineman. Well, that's exactly what you said.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
I do call that. I think we will see him play,
maybe even this weekend.
