Speaker 1 (00:00):
Six six nine Zeros are ka wait Common Spirit Heal
text line Broncos Country Tonight coming up at the top
of the hour, Benjamin al Bright and Nicks.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Actually Nick is off tonight. It's Ben. I think it's
just been hang out with Grant. Is that right? Can't wait?
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Can't wait anyways, So looking forward to hearing what you
guys have to do. I'm sure it's a mystery to Ben. Well,
we'll get to Joe Lombardi here in a little bit.
Opportunity at five point forty tonight to win Broncos Raiders tickets.
We've been giving them away all week, pair every single day,
and we'll have another pair to give away tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Looking forward to that.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Brian Schottenheimer on wanting to wanted to ditch his offense
if it meant that they would win some games.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
I can't wait to get to that.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
A couple of texts here as we check out the
text line, I think we're gonna have more turnovers without Pat.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
That's got of an interesting take right.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
The takeaways for the Broncos really haven't I haven't materialized
as much as you'd like. Seven takeaways in the season,
which is twentieth in the league in Houston, by the way,
there they have eleven, so four more. So this is
this is the difference between twentieth in the league and
top five is four takeaways. So the Texas have four
(01:14):
more takeaways and they are a top five defense and takeaways.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
And I think that's a that's a valid take You know,
PS two doesn't get a lot of interceptions because they
don't really throw at him all that often. And you
know they're going to go at Kad. We call them
CAD or KD or Cad. I've heard some players call
him Katie.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
I've heard him kt as well. Yeah, we're going to
call him Cad. Is that I don't know?
Speaker 3 (01:39):
All right, they're going to go at him. Yeah, and
they're gonna go at moss uh And Chris Abrams Grain
had a.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Pick last year as he did the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
He may get another one this Sunday. I'm taking a
look at him as maybe my defensive player of the game.
Best hands on the team, that's what they're saying. Yeah,
even better than the wide receivers apparently. Yeah, maybe he's
playing the wrong position. We played we played Courtland yesterday.
Talking about it now, he's like, I'm not gonna argue
with coach.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
In fact, here you go in case you missed it,
This was Courland Sudden reacting to Sean Payton saying that
Kat had the best hands.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
I'm not gonna argue with coach. Coach knows best. It's
like you know your parents know best. I let coach
that Kat does have a really really good hands. Though
watching him catch the ball in practice, you could tell
that there's some some pass receiver in there.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
So I don't think it's all the it gone.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
It's you know, once it's there, it's it's usually mostly
always there.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
So yeah, coach is always right. Coach is always right.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Yeah, smart, Smart might have stung a little bit when
your coach has that Kat.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
He called them Kat, by the way, Yeah you did
call him Kate.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
That's the best hands on the team, you know. I
think he meant to say on the defense.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Sean doesn't make a lot of mistakes when it comes
to the way he frames things, but maybe maybe he did.
You know what I always we talk about like players
taking things personally. Do you remember when when Vic was
here and he was talking about Tim Patrick and he
was saying how he wasn't very fast and he like
had to win with his route running in his hands,
and it's like, well, you're not really fast. I can't
(03:14):
remember how he phrased it exactly, but Tim Patrick's like, wait, I'm.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Not for like he be coach down very fast. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yeah, Chris Abrams drain. They have him at five eleven
one seventy eight. He would be a small wide receiver. Uh,
he's played receiver more. He hasn't played receiver before. Yeah,
he's about Travis Hunter size maybe.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Yeah, maybe a little bigger Travis Hunters bigger than I.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Think he's about a buck eighty really. Yeah, he's pretty scady.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Yeah, maybe you're right. Oh, like to look it up. Yeah, well,
now you'm be curious.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Because I'm like going, maybe they were about the same size.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
I always thought he was he was bigger, but hold
on six to one. Yeah he's taller. Yeah I thought
he was tall Yeah six interesting.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Yeah, well I think that might be a stretch. Yeah,
with the shoes on it. And they're not playing so
much on defense anymore because the big wide receivers.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Were Yeah, and they really needed defense.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Yeah, and he's starting to Yeah, he played the most
snaps he played on offense this last time out there
in London, and I guess William Cohen said that he
expects him to play more often.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
It's looking like they're going to make him a wide receiver. Yeah.
They're playing the Raiders this week.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
That's that's Uh, it's kind of an interesting matchup, you know,
because both team's coming out there by The Raiders are
getting a little healthier.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
It looks like Brock Bowers is going to be back.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Jacobi Meyers should play, although everybody thinks he's going to
get traded here in just a matter of moments that
they may scratch, you know, make him a healthy scratch,
or just say he's hurt and then uh yeah. I mean,
but there's season in two and five. They're looking up
in a division where you have five and three, you
have six and two, five and three, five and three.
I mean for the Raiders. I don't even know what
what your mindset is at this point.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Let me run this by if you got a minute.
Speaking of Travis Hunter, I saw this this week. I
think it might have been Sports Illustrated saying it's still early,
but it looks like Jacksonville paid way too much in
draft capital.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Yeah. It was an article in the athletic. Was it
the athletic, Yeah, Travis Hunter.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
They gave up two first round picks to the Browns
to take Travis Hunter because they thought they were getting
two elite players, an elite cornerback and an elite wide receiver.
It looks like the cornerback thing's probably not going to
work out. He may be a good wide receiver, we'll see.
But how do you feel about that?
Speaker 2 (05:38):
He's a freak, he's a he's the best player in
college football. Well, I know how Mark Johnson feels about it.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
He's an alien, the Browns guy or Judkins in particular,
good player, the good player.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Mason Graham's played a lot, he's been good.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
What do you think, Well, I'd say oftentimes is the
case it's a little too early when you're talking about
a rookie year and taking too many leaps of expectation.
I think it's for an opportunity for a lot of
people to say I told you so, because we said
that it's probably impossible for him to play both ways
at the NFL level. But there was a little bit
(06:17):
of like, but what if he's the example. What if
he's the one right, the one guy that finds a
way to do it. We've seen examples of guys that
have had some spare moments, like even Champ Beverly.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Yeah, Dion, right, I mean he had some moments.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Champ Bailey had a couple of times on offense, but
he was primarily a defensive player, right, same thing with Dion.
So this was one of those like, Okay, well he's
gonna eventually be on one side of the ball, but
maybe they can use him.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
In parts on the other side.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
And he's made some plays on defense, so he's been
He's had some really big PBUs on on the defensive
side of the ball, but some of his more spectacular
plays have come on offense because he's he has a mutant,
he is an alien, so he he's mentally talented. When
I read that article from Mike Sando and Mike is
(07:06):
like this where it's a little bit of I told
you sos.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
He loves that stuff.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
He did that all the time with Russell Wilson when
Russell was struggling here in Denver.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
He loved writing articles and recording.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Podcasts about I told because he covered him up there
in Seattle and he knew he was going to flame
out here. He really called it. He said, it's going
to flame out in here, and he's not what they
think he's going to be. And you know, we were
all very excited about Russ and sure enough, he ends
up being right.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
But he's the guy that loves to pound his chest
about how right he is. So so it is way
too early to stay this.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
We're halfway through the first season of his impressional career.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
He does look like he's got potential to be a
good wide receiver. I don't see him playing both ways.
I never did. No, he never thought he would. Yes,
And so that being said, it's not like he's not
a good player. But they thought they were getting two
elite players. That's the whole point of the article. And
(07:59):
I think that that's pretty fair. They gave up two
first round draft picks for one guy who could be
a good wide receiver.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
He looked good in the last game, looked very good
his first hundred yard game. Yeah, he's an easy guy
to like to Travas.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Hunter is a great kid and like you said, immensely talented.
But there's a reason you don't see guys playing both
ways in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
It's a lot to absorb the physicality of the game
is he's not a big dude. Back to that again,
he's not a big guy, one hundred eighty five pounds.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
He wouldn't hold up playing, you know, forty plays on
each side of the ball.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
There comes a point where you do have to sort
of focus this in a little bit. But I'd say
in the meantime, maybe two three years from now, we'll
have a better idea. And if he ends up being guaranteed,
let's just put it this lay. I'll paint a picture.
So say he's kind of a twelve hundred yard receiver
for you going forward, if you're Jacksonville, and then you
(08:56):
can play him maybe eight to ten plays on the
defensive side of the ball in high leverage moments, especially
in the red zone. You're, hey, we're going to have
you lock up that number one guy in the red zone.
We're not gonna make you long run, run wind sprints,
you know, covering guys all game long, but when we
get into the red zone, you're gonna be one of
the guys that we bring in. So if he ends
(09:17):
up being a thousand yards a twelve hundred yard receiver
for you, and then he locks up your number one
opposing team's number one in the red zone.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
You'd probably take that, wouldn't you. I think I would.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
Yeah, if he's a thousand yard receiver, I think you're
pretty happy, Yeah, with what happened. Some of it depends
on how good Judkins and Mason Graham are going to
be three years from now. Sure, if those two guys
are both pro bawlers, and you might go, Okay, well
we did give up a little too much.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
It could be the case now for Jacksonville, they were
looking at it as we believe, even with a new
head coach and new scheme and all, that, we're in
a window because you're paying your quarterback what you're paying him.
Brian Thomas Junior had a monster year last year. He's
had a little bit of a regression year, but they
still believe in his talent. If you don't trade him
to the Broncos, please, But the point of it is
is like that, they believe that they're in a window
(10:03):
to compete in that relatively soft division. Now, of course
this ends up being the Cults year. The Cults are
really good, and the Texans are going to compete, and
we'll see what the Jacksonville Jaguars ultimately can do. They
looked strong early in the year. They've kind of faded
a bit since then. But to the point of it
is is I can understand the all in mindset, and
you're trading up for Travis Hunter because he's a guy
that can impact you now and you think you're building
(10:25):
a cornerstone player for the future, and especially if you
think you can get usage out of him on both
sides of the ball.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Which Trevor Lawrence has been the disappointment. He's been a
formula of this whole thing. He hasn't lived up to
certainly its draft status. No, not that he's a bad quarterback,
but when you're taking number one overall, there's some really
high expectations here. There's extremely Travis under was taking number
two overall, so you got to factor that in too,
(10:51):
number two overall pick, and you gave away two number
one draft picks for him, So that's another thing you
would have to consider when you evaluate him a couple
of years from now.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Speaking of the Jackson Jaguars, a former Jaguar in Mercedes
Lewis now with the Broncos forty one year old. Here's
what Joel Lobardi said about him today.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
You know, obviously he's got a lot of experience. You know,
we'll name some plays after some references that are too
old for any of these other people to understand. So
it's nice that, you know, you might name a play
after a nineties movie. You no one knows what we're
talking about, but I think he will. But there's just
a guy who's been doing it for a long time,
and you know, might be the eighth wonder of the
(11:28):
world that he's still doing it at forty one years old.
But you know, the grown man, big and long and
can still block and hold up in protection. So it's
good to have him.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
I thought that was great. Wow.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Yeah, and bonnies today said some of them that I
used to watch him when I was a kid. Yeah,
he literally was right a kid when he used to
watch him. I'm interested in him. It's an interesting story.
I hope he plays on Sunday. I think he can
add something to the run game. Oh, I completely agree.
He's going to be kind of your jumble package guy. Yes, right,
(12:02):
that's why he's That's why he's here.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
So then it was asked right afterwards by our guy BK.
Actually he asked asked Joe Lombardi about well, Sean yesterday
says he couldn't think of anybody he's ever coached that
was in the league that long.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
And here's what Joe said.
Speaker 5 (12:21):
Yeah, Drew would be breeze. I think I think he
made it to twenty, so Sean might have forgotten them.
Then he coached that guy. He's pretty important to us.
Oh great, Yeah, I think Drew was twenty in his
last year.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
All people to forget. Yeah, he's pretty pooran to us.
That's awesome, Joe.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
That's great. Like I said, they're real good down there.
He advance Joseph earlier talking about, hey, they got to
prepare for us. We're not. Hey, they have some banged
up guys, we're missing our star cornerback. They got to
figure out what we're gonna look like. And then you
have Joe Lombardi being like, hey man, let's crack a
joke about you know, players that have played a long year.
(13:04):
I mean, it felt like a vibe. There's a vibe
with the team, and you know, winning does that doesn't it?
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Right?
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Yeah, it's just about winning and winning the way they're winning.
And I think coming off of that win, I didn't
get the same thing, and you correct me if I'm wrong.
I didn't get the same vibe off of the Giants win.
They seemed upset, almost angry, bordering on angry about the
way they performed. Because even though they came back and
(13:34):
won that game, and that was a miracle and it
was historical and we of course got a chance to
play it back on the air last Friday night, which
was awesome, but it wasn't a good performance from the team.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Like they knew that in all three phases they failed.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
They did for like three quarters and it wasn't until
the fourth quarter when they somehow miraculously put it all together.
I got the sense from those guys, the coaching staff especially,
they were not happy about that performance.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Do you agree, Yeah?
Speaker 3 (13:58):
And I feel like the team they wanted to come
out and prove something against the Cowboys, There's no doubt
about that. But they are feeling very confident. I felt
it's pretty much the entire season. When they lost those
two games early in the season, I never felt like
they lost confidence. I mean, they were passed that they
lost him the way they did, but they bounced back quickly.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
They knew then how good they are.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
I really started feeling it after that Jets win, which
is really an ugly game, and a player told me
one of their best players, I'm not going to say who.
He said, man, we are going to roll now, and
he said it in a more enthusiastic way than that,
using a little profanity. And I'll never forget that. They
(14:43):
have a lost since and I feel good about this
game on Sunday. As the week goes on, I'm feeling
better and better. I think you are too, And you
could tell they're feeling good. Joe Lombardi, man, that the
Lombardi resemblance with him is it's remarkable. He's a bigger
version of his grandfather, Vince. And if you put those
(15:05):
glasses on him though that Vince used to wear and
maybe put a little gap in his front teeth, that's
that's a young Islambardi right there. And for those of
you that aren't old enough to know who Vince Lombardi
is and you're listening to the show, you're gonna want
to google it and compare them side by side.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
That Vice Lombardi one of the all time greats. There
you go, famous lines, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Yeah, he was one of a kind that guy man.
Oh no, no, I mean he wasn't soft, right, and
none called Vince Lombardi soft.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
I don't think you could deal with the Green Bay
temperatures ever and be considered soft. No, And and he
was sort of that the epitome of building a tough team.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
And yeah, and toughness all yeah, no, I'm listen.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
Man, I legend obviously named the trophy after him, but
he's uh.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
I like Joe, I like I like the vibe of
the team.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
He'd say this though, about the Texans defense, and I
think it's appropriate.
Speaker 5 (16:03):
You know, in my opinion, this is the best defense
that we face. You know, it's not a very complex scheme,
but it's a good scheme. It's a scheme that the
players know. It's a fast defense, and it allows him
to play really fast, and yeah, it's going to be
a big challenge. So they're aggressive, they run fast, they
hit hard. They're a group with really good instincts. You know,
(16:25):
you see him, you know there's a there's a play,
maybe a screen or something that's really setting up well,
and you think, oh, this is gonna be a big
play for the for the offense, and they just rally
and feel it a little quicker maybe than other defenses
and and shut it down. So it's yeah, it's a
it's a it's a challenge this week for sure.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
So he said this is the best defense they faced.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
I'd say he's probably right that the ones that came
to mind and media were Philadelphia and the Chargers were
the two other defenses. I thought the Jets actually played
the Broncos tough. The Jets are a better team on
paper than they've been performing.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
But I'd say he's probably right. I mean the Texans.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
The Texans were just like the Broncos, lauded is one
of the elite units in the game coming into the season.
They haven't really disappointed other than the red zone numbers.
But once again, you have to actually get to the
red zone to score on them, because they're the number
one defense when it comes to scoring against.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
Yeah, it's tough to get into the red zone. That's
the whole point of that. They're a really nasty defense. Yeah,
they got a whole bunch of Drake greenlaws on that team.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
And the way they close.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
I love that he pointed that out because that's the
thing that jumped off right away watching them today. They
close and it just seems like there was a couple moments.
Even in this last game against forty undreds, there was
a couple moments where hey, mac Jones delivered a really
nice ball, but there was nothing.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
There's nothing you have to catch, right, it was they warm.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
They tackle well, Yes, that's a fun defense to watch. Yeah,
I feel like the Broncos are in that same category
most of the time. At times, we've seen the Broncos
not tackle well. It's gotten better the last several weeks,
but when a defense plays like that, man, that's a
fun defense, not only to watch, but if you're on
(18:13):
that defense, man, you're feeling it. Those are a bunch
of dogs on that defense. They're really good. Broncos offense
is better than the Texans offense. That will be the
difference in the game. I don't think it's going to
be the defenses aren't going to let their team down.
I think it's going to be the Broncos offense that's
going to score enough to win the football game much
(18:35):
the Texans offense. I don't think we'll be able to
keep up with the Broncos offense. I'm looking at it
right now. You're good with that.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
I am good with that, and I think that to
your point, the Broncos are running the ball better, which
is something that they realize. They realized we were talking
about during one of the breaks, because this is not
a game like many games. You don't want to be
in third and long like that. That's just like hey,
breaking news, right, you don't want to be in third
and long. But this is not the team you ever
want to do that. And so if the Broncos can
(19:03):
create some of the formula that they had against the
Dallas Cowboys where they were great on first and second down,
like even bo Nicks was talking about it, and let
me pull that out really quick because Bonix was talking
about that on how the offense looked against Dallas.
Speaker 6 (19:16):
Well, I think it's just go back and proves that
when we do well early in the drive and we
get a few first downs and run the ball efficiently
on drives, that we can you know, turn those into
points and you know when you can run the ball,
it's it's really important, very plainly.
Speaker 7 (19:34):
Right.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
Yeah, there's the point of emphasis. You could hear it.
John Payton knows it. That's what's going to win your
football game on Sundays.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Be good on first and second down.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
They only had eight third down attempts in this last game, and.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
By the way, one of them was garbage time with
your Stidham.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
So really only seven third down attempts and guess what
they converted five of them. Yeah, they converted five third
down attempts against Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
They only saw seven in the entirety of the game.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
I can't even remember the last time the Broncos only
saw seven third down attempts in a game.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
No, and they've been they haven't been good on third
down pretty much the entire season because they're always third
and long.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
Yeah, right now, I have a bad position, which is
actually an improvement.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
But it's gotten better. Last week was great. Yeah, that
was against a horrible defense. It was talk about soft.
The Cowboys defense ran. Just just say it, come out
and say it. The Cowboys defense is soft.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Listen, I don't have the cachet anything like that. Okay, Well,
I'm trying to set you up, man.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
We just got to do it this whole psa Carl
Banks saying, don't do that.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
I'm talking to fall into the trap. All I thought
I could set you up for it.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
I know Dave. Dave would have been like, so are
you telling me that they are not? And then he
would have some kind of mind.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
He gets you under a light yes, and it arrek
h in a way that's uncomfortable.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Well, because you started saying nice, this is what happened
in the first hour. And by the way, if you
missed any parts of the first hour, we had Dave
here was phenomenal and you go back and check it out.
We also talked about Martin nhis in that new contract.
But he got you under the spotlight because you said
one nice thing about the Broncos offense and he's like, oh,
so you're taking the over in this game? Huh he well,
hold on, I haven't really thought of it. No, no, no, no,
(21:22):
you like the Broncos offense better than the Texans and
you think those guys are a bunch of bums.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
You got the over in this game.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
And he would not let no, he's like that, And yeah,
I told him, you may have missed your calling. You've
been great at a lot of things. You might have
been a world class lawyer, a trial lawyer. He's really
good at it. He noticed that I did take my
jacket off. What he was saying, it was working me.
It got suddenly very hot here in the studio right Arry.
Dave's awesome, man, He's great at everything he does, no
(21:51):
doubt about it. And I know he pins you down
on a daily basis. You off the mat?
Speaker 2 (21:57):
Oh my god? No ever, No, So I just had
that and said, you.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Know what, I know you were enjoying it here, man,
I'm deflecting a little bit for you. You like when
I come in Wednesday, because he'll always come at me
right away immediately, because he's only here for forty minutes.
He's like, all right, I got to take Rick down
right away, and now I'm by the show. Ryan, Hey, man,
don't don't you think you're gonna mess with me because
I'm taking Rick Lewis down right now.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
There's this moment where he sort of sits up in
his chair and you can tell he's excited.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
You saw you saw it? Oh you love it? I
actually like what he does. Yeah? What track did you
just fall into? It's fun? Yeah? Do you realize what
you said? All right? Oh yeah, yeah, it's good. All right.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
When we come back, your chance to win Broncos Raiders
tickets is coming up here at about fifteen minutes, I
can't wait to play this sounds from the the Dallas
head coach Brian Schtenheimer, You're gonna die.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
This is great coming up next.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
And then also we got into the Marning Natius contract
the Nuggets hot start to the season. So if you
ever missing parts of the show, I highly recommend go
checking out on the completely free and totally awesome iHeartRadio
app which you know, redesigned like you have in your
car with presets, So check it out. It's free, it's awesome,
and you can listen to Rick in the morning. You
can listen to us here on KOWA all your fingertips.
(23:14):
It's it's really pretty much perfect. And it's hard to
say that about everything right now, but that's perfect.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
Thank you for promoting my morning show.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Yeah, man, you know me. I'm all about promoting your stuff. Man,
Rick Louse Project. It's got the shows.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Nothing, no, not till early next year. We got a
bunch of the books already. Okay, twenty twenty six. Okay, wait,
we had a guy text in yesterday said something I got.
I love what Rick's on the radio. I missed Rick
on the radio, and I'm thinking I'm on every morning,
every Sunday, for the most parts on the on the Fox,
(23:49):
by the way, Yeah, this is the morning show there.
I'm glad you brought it up. Yeah, absolutely, hekets that
guy back. Okay, you know, maybe you forgot I still
have this morning show.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
Yeah, so you can hear Rick every day and then
definitely every Wednesday on this show. We've been doing that,
which has been a lot of fun. And then yeah,
I got a little bonus Rick this week in a
row Man our own fun. It has been fun, no
doubt about it. Going by fast. Absolutely the show is
almost overall. Know, we got a fun Thursday night football game.
We'll get to talk about that here in just a
little bit. But this this sound cracked me up. Earlier today,
(24:21):
Brian Schottenheimer, who's the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
So they just lost the Broncos.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Now everybody keeps talking to them about how great your
offense is and Dak Prescott in the MVP conversation all
those kinds of things, and uh, here's what he said
to that.
Speaker 8 (24:34):
None of us have done good enough. You know, I
mean coaches, players, head coach, none of us have done
good enough.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
That's that's real. I mean, our scorecard is what it is,
you know.
Speaker 8 (24:43):
Uh, and that's not just you know, defensively, that's offensively.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
You know, we're a football team. This three four and one.
You can take the stats on offense and I concern,
I mean, is what it is.
Speaker 8 (24:55):
We want to win, you know, and people talk about
a MVP and this and that. Dak Prescott doesn't want
to win, you know, he wants to won a Super
Bowl and that's what we want to win. And we're
not there yet. We've not played that consistently well enough
to certainly be in that discussion. But doesn't mean the
journey stops. It certainly doesn't stop. It just you get
more focused, you get more intentional, and we got to
do it together.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
He said, you could take those offensive stats and shove
them up your the old Powter hole. There's Dave right there.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
Yeah, that that loss I think did some damage to
the Cowboys because I felt like going into that game,
they thought they maybe had.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
Something as a thousand correct.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
Yeah, they thought they were on track and we're going
to be a playoff team, which they still could be,
but with a defense that bad, and then the Broncos
has completely embarrassed them.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
But the offense the narrative on that team, Rick, we
talked about it leading into it.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
The narrative on that team was, this.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
Is the best offense in the league right now, and
nobody is slowing them down. And hey, great Broncos defense,
but you haven't seen an offense like this, And they
did shut them down, and Dak Prescott is owing three
now against the Broncos. I got over some stats on
Friday last week where Dak Prescott had a fifty five
percent completion rate with the Bronx against the Broncos, and
(26:15):
the two games that he played he was owing to
right fifty five percent completion rate, four touchdowns, three picks.
I think he had somewhere in the neighborhood of five
or six sacks in the two games. Like he his
numbers were way below marker for what he typically does,
what he has been over his course of his career.
He struggles against the Broncos, like just flat out struggles
to play the Broncos for whatever reason. And so on Friday,
(26:38):
even though I already put my prediction in, there was
a part of me that wanted to go back on
it and say, actually, the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
Are about to beat them down.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
But It was a weird thing to say because nationally,
to your point, everybody was talking about the Dallas Cowboys
and how this offense can't be slowed down by anybody.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Yeah, and at three to three and one going into
the game against the Broncos, they I looked at that
and went, okay, well.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
We'll see how you do against a elite defense. And
they were feeling it.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
You could tell going into that game they thought, okay,
we're we're rolling now. Jerry Jones who was feeling it,
and the Broncos, you know, they embarrassed him in the game.
And we knew that Broncos would score points against that defense.
What I didn't think we could predict is how bad
they would shut down that Cowboys offense.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
It was remarkable, was unbelievable. Which give the year by
far for this football time. Oh yeah, all three phases. Yes,
And she gave you a lot of confidence, especially in
the way that they approach. I mean, you talk about
high end level receiving talent and a high end running game.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
I feel like they can go total with anybody. At
this point.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
They've they've won in so many different ways. I really
don't worry even if this is a low scoring game.
They've won a low scoring game before, Broncos won the
Jets game, low scoring game.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
They can hang in there.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
They can win ugly games. She win ugly absolutely, and
you might need to win ugly on Sunday. Could be
the case. Right now, I'll be calling number ten three
oh three seven one three eighty five eighty five, Calling
number ten, three oh three seven one three eighty five
eighty five, and you're gonna win a pair of ticket
to the Broncos Raiders game on November sixth.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
This week's daily winner.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Winners qualify for two reserve seating tickets and a red
carpet walk for the premiere of Lway, the documentary screening
at the Denver Film Festival, chronicling John Elway's iconic career.
Tickets available right now at denverfilm dot org. But calling
number ten right now, three oh three seven one three
eighty five eighty five, you're gonna win those pair of
tickets to the Broncos Raiders game.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
We're gonna have another pair to give away tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
Text from the five oh three wait Rick has a
morning show question mark question mark.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
I don't know if that's tongue in cheek or not.
But yes he does. Yes, maybe you wouldn't know. How
many years is it for you? Oh?
Speaker 1 (28:53):
Just thirty five, yes, thirty five, it's thirty five years.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
On the same show. I think what the reference was.
I used to have a show here. I did the
afternoon show with Dave for five years, and so I
think that's what that reference was. And they thought, well, Okay,
he went away, he's gone. Oh I didn't go anywhere. Yeh,
I'm still here. In fact, my show is in the
(29:18):
same building for people that don't know, I'm on the
floor below us for the last thirty five years. Unbelievable, Mark,
I mean, it is remarkable, feel like, but I can't
believe it.
Speaker 1 (29:29):
But yeah, I just feel like that would be something
Dave would text it, like you have a morning show.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
Yeah, you know he says that he does say that
on occasion. That's that Dave. Maybe Dave did text this.
I'm gonna have to check that number sens a humor
right there.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Yeah, wait, you have a warning show. Yeah, well it's good. Well,
maybe one of these days I'll take it out. I'm
up early enough, which he is, and I'm sure he has.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Yeah, he's been on the show.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
Nice, Yeah, I get him on very cool on a
pretty regular basis.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
We just got in. I'm not sure if I want
to read this or not. Somebody's talking about my PSL
stained tongue. Oh I get the reference here?
Speaker 2 (30:09):
Do you? Yeah? Okay? Do you want to read it
and then explain it?
Speaker 7 (30:13):
Well, it says, hey, hey, Rick, I'm glad your color
call has finally stopped scraping the paint off to find
the Ferrari.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Ask call right.
Speaker 7 (30:19):
If you don't get the reference, Ryan, shut your PSL
stained tongue.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
And ask him and ask him to ask a break. Wait.
Speaker 7 (30:25):
What it means is it's a reference I made to
want to fill in for ros Kaminski on his show.
And I'm like, I tell Ross I hope I'll wreckt
the Ferrari today or whatever. And then the listeners all
text in with like these horrible cars instead of a
Ferrari that the show actually is, and they're like, no,
Ben's gonna wreckt the sixty eight dollars bar or you
know sometuff like this.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
It ends up being a whole bit. It's a whole thing,
very clever whatever. I didn't get it, but I didn't either.
Thanks for explain.
Speaker 7 (30:49):
Actually know exactly, way funnier when I explained it in
those terms and it actually being inside the joke though.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
What's coming up on? What's coming up on BCT all.
Speaker 7 (30:57):
Right, Codisberg will be in well talk a little bit.
But the the Houston game, I concerned Marvin Mims. Looks
like he's going to be out for that one with
the concussion protocol. Well we'll see Tomorrow's a last ditch effort,
but right now not looking good. What are you hearing
about Dalton Schultz. He's been limited, but I don't know
if he's been not practicing. Oh he's not a full
non today, then he'd be no. I mean unless he
(31:20):
gets some last ditch effort in there. That's that's interesting
because that's that's a big part of what they do.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
What he marks came up today with the calf, he
had the cat thing. He's gonna be fine. He's fine. Okay,
how you feeling about this game? Not great?
Speaker 4 (31:32):
Bob?
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Then actually they have a chance of winning. All right.
I'm glad to hear you say that. Yeah, me too. Yeah,
that's that's the best news. Effor.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
Because he picked against him for the Dallas Cowboys, game
last feeling he wasn't feeling good against the Giants game.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
I went back and looked at the Giants game.
Speaker 7 (31:46):
We uh went back and look, last week was the
worst week for me picking games and or betting in
seven years.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
Wow, Wow, I like your streak.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
Okay, well you're on a hot streak, so you don't
feel good about the jump.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
Take it against the Broncos just to you know, just.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
That's me Joey vampire joy, vampire wet blanket, all bright,
now feeling good about it.
Speaker 4 (32:11):
Huh.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
It's funny because we with throw. Yeah, we're feeling good
about it. A lot of Denver's feeling real good about it.
Speaker 7 (32:16):
I'm looking at the book number I'm looking at I'm
I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
We'll see.
Speaker 7 (32:22):
I will say this, I like our defense's chances against
their offense.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
It's the other side of things.
Speaker 7 (32:27):
We haven't played a defense as good this year, Like
we have not played a defense as good as they
are this year.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
So that's you know, you win.
Speaker 7 (32:33):
This game, and the narrative around the Denver Broncos is
they're a contender, Like there's no denying it.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
At that point, you win this game against that defense.
Speaker 7 (32:40):
The narrative around you've got a contender and you've won
the right amount of game, doesn't matter, Kansas City Chargers, whatever,
you you got a contender.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
Has this defense played the same caliber offenses that the
Broncos have played and quarterbacks?
Speaker 2 (32:54):
When you look at them, which defense has the Texans defense.
Speaker 7 (33:00):
Colin Gowans where they got lucky with with a backup quarterback.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
So we talked about this earlier. Maybe those numbers are
a little bit inflated going on the yeah, real fast,
