Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm very excited to be here with you on a

(00:01):
Halloween edition of our program. Sure Grant will have some
fun with the music on that. Nate Jackson is Judy.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
What's up? Nate?

Speaker 3 (00:07):
Hey?

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Yeah, are you right? I'm great. I'm great. I'm in
a very good mood. We're both wearing flannel. Yeah, look
at this. Well, I had a feeling you might be
wearing one. Well, it's cold, it is. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
I looked at my closet and yeah, I saw some
polos in there, and I saw a couple of their shirts,
see the miscellaneous stuff, and then I saw my flannel collection.
I said, it's like forty degrees outside. This is a
perfect day. And if I don't show up in flannel
on a forty degree temperature day, what am I doing?

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Yeah? How many flannels do you have? That's a good question.
Over ten? They seem to multiply. Like I'll come back
to my closet and I'll be like, I didn't even
know I had that flannel. I'd say, while you were gone,
they got together and made a new flannel. That's right.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
I think my wife like buys them for me and
then like puts them in there to surprise me and
then I'll be like, hey, did.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
You give me a new flannel? She's like I did.
Were you a flannel guy before you met your wife?

Speaker 3 (00:58):
I was not?

Speaker 4 (00:59):
Oh no, no, no, no, Why I have evolved into
this wow, which is remarkable because this is like more
of a fashion style in the nineties, right like up
in Seattle.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Yeah, you know with the beard, I mean you got
a beard. I was wearing a flannel the night I
met my wife. No kidding? You remember that? Yeah? She
remembers that. I mean we still have you know. Okay, Now,
that's a special occasion flannel. Man, I wouldn't wear that.
Here are you kidding? Come on? Do we turn the
lights down?

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Here?

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Are we a special occasion flannel? Come on, man, get
a good little algreen.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Going anyways, special a special occasion flannel.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
So what was the occasion? It was a New Year's
e party, that's why you remember? Okay, gotcha? She spotted
me from across the room. Nice and we actually never
met that night. Okay. She wanted me to come talk
to her, and I didn't. That night, I was hanging
out with another person and shared a midnight kiss with

(01:58):
a stranger and my futurefe was watching me from across
the room. And the next morning I got a text
from the guy who threw the party was a friend
of mine and a friend of hers coincidentally as well,
and he's like, hey, my friend thinks you're cute. You
didn't get a chance to talk to her. You should.
You should hit her up. She's really cool. That girl
you were with last night, that wasn't your girlfriend. I'm like, no,
it was, it was. It was. It was a midnight

(02:19):
kiss that happened sometimes in parties. And so I did
text my future wife and we started a conversation going
and we started talking on the phone and I asked
her out and she she said no she I mean
she said yeah, maybe later. Oh she was stalking you
and she said no, Well, she said, I'm busy for
the next time. Hard to get Yeah, okay. So this

(02:40):
was you know, New Year's and we didn't meet. We
didn't meet in person until March. And when we did Ryan,
it was well, exactly, no, Okay, that'd be weird. No,
she like, do you only have this one piece of clothing?
But prior to meeting my wife, Ryan, I was living
a bachelor's life. I mean, yeah, kissing strangers at midnight. Yeah,

(03:02):
but once I did meet her in person, her eyes locked.
I mean, everything else disappeared. Right, that's love, it is.
I mean you didn't notice her when she noticed you.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Correct, So then when you did eventually notice her after
multiple calls and her.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Telling you know, then it was love. It was nice.
All love stories are different, sure, Yeah, but that's pretty
friend of my wife would be in you know, confident
enough to still push forward with that connection even after
it didn't work.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Out that night as she had hoped. It's an interesting
deal because you're with somebody else. She doesn't know that
that's not like a very serious relation.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
She kind of did because she's you know, it was okay, Yeah,
because you understand what I'm saying, Like, you see somebody
with somebody else, and you know, my my assumption immediately
isn't like, well, that's probably not very serious. I'm gonna
go ahead and hit them up. Well, I think she
observed me throughout the night. There was a lot of
people there hitting on other people or just not really
being around that person very much until you know whatever,

(04:07):
that's yeah, I mean again, that's and then she got
confirmation from the mutual friend who threw the party was
not his girlfriend. This is okay, this is a stranger. Okay,
Well that helps.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Yeah, because I think generally speaking, if I, like I said,
if I see somebody with somebody, I'm like, oh, that's
that's their person.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Wait, so when you met your wife, Yeah, you didn't
see her with another man and then walk up and say, hey, buddy, No,
she was engaged when I met my wife. Okay, so
you did kind of do that. No, No, it was
I was with somebody else too. Oh even more so, Yeah,
you're laughing at my origins story. Holy moly. Wow. And

(04:42):
I was her boss okay, on a bank, so that's
even more. But but there's nothing more timilating and stimulating
but just being around money all.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
The time obviously, you know, like you know, counting coins
and you know. But the thing is, uh yeah, I
mean this is like Halloween. It's like that's like our
Valientide show that we're doing out Halloween.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
No, I uh yeah, she was with somebody.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
I was with somebody, and then we eventually weren't with
those people.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
And this is years after we were friends.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
We were like friends, and we're years after that and
years after me being her boss, and we were just
friends and then we kind of became more than that.
So and then now h celebrated our sixteenth year anniversary
last week.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Congrats. Yeah, that's a lot of that's a lot of years,
a lot of years. You beat the average.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Well, if she realized the other the day she pointed
out that I've known her more than half of her life.
Oh wow, and I think next year is when I
will know her more half of mine.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
That's pretty wild. Yeah, that's cool. Yeah, that's pretty cool.
And I think there are a lot of people out there,
maybe some folks listening right now, who might meet their
significant other tonight at a Halloween party. Yeah, it happens,
it'd be I. So it's just it makes me think
of a of a point. My wife was talking.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
About today about how certain women dress at certain ages
or whatever around Halloween, and I'm like, so, if you
meet somebody on Halloween and you're dressed a certain way, oh,
did you know that they like you for you or
they like you because oh my god.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
This is a really nice SpongeBob. Well that's I know,
sexy SpongeBob. Sexy SpongeBob.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Yeah, sexy, you're like we both love SpongeBob and you
just look better than me. But yeah, I think that
would be a weird thing to meet somebody on Halloween.
We're talking about the flannel, right, we meet somebody on
Halloween based on the way they're dressed, because then what
are you into? Like that would be my first like
and I'm weird, but my first thought would be like,

(06:44):
all right, so is this how like what do you
do for a living?

Speaker 2 (06:47):
And it would that be your first question? Or are
you just gonna have some fun for a while first?
And just like go with the flow on Halloween. It
depends on the age I'm at, Like what's your real name? Like,
let's suspend the disbelief here for a while. This is
a night where you can enjoy a little bit of.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
That's true romance and otherwise role play. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I mean it's it's for a point. It's for a point,
you know. It depends on what age I'm at when
I'm having this conversation. I hope to never ever date
the rest of my life. That's that's really why I
did this in the first place, because I think dating
is is awful.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
So I'm glad to be done with that that fact
in my life actually these days with all this scary apps.
Oh that's worse.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Yeah, we have been Albright who comes in after us
and he dates a lot, and oh my god, it's
it's just it's just war story after that.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
I mean, if we have one of his former dates
can call in and talk about her experience on this
side of it, because I think that would be a
cool thing to just get Ben's perspective all the time.
Let's let's get one of these dates talk about how
that night goes. Lets I just wish you're gonna see it.
You can see Grant's face. He's like, absolutely not, no way, yeah,
we can't.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
We can't do that with it. There's a that would
be bad. No, I know, you do know, you do know.
I would assume it's just gotten wrapped. People people people talk. Anyway, Well,
it's very I'm very happy to see you. I'm happy
to see with flannel on, especially the flannel that inspired
your marriage.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
That's that's pretty cool stuff too.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Five six six nine zeros or KWA Commas Bardell text
line if you want to interact with us s Nate Jackson,
Ryan Edwards all sorts of interesting fun things to get
through over the course of the show. Pats or Tans
Bulls enjoy us here in about fifteen minutes or so,
hopefully we get.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
A chance to find out what's going on with him.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
He's not going to be playing in this game, obviously
coming up in on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
You and I just remote.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
We talked a lot about the Dallas game, and we
swapped reasons why we thought that the Broncos were going
to win that game and lo and behold, yeah they
really did.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yeah, how'd you feel after that game? I felt really good.
You know, I was down there on the sideline, so
I got to really just witness up close the efficiency
with which the offense operated. I mean, the Dallas defense
was pretty bad, worse than I had expected. Guys just
run and free. The front seven is getting absolutely pushed around.
I mean, the Broncos had their way with them. But

(09:05):
you got to give credit to the Broncos for doing that.
Everything worked that they did offensively after that first pick,
everything worked. They scored four first half touchdowns after that.
I mean that was just it was really fun to
be a part of that. And then the defense I
think was a bigger story because they stopped the number
one offense, and we were talking. We were talking about
how we think they could have a good performance against

(09:26):
the Dallas who. But a lot of folks were thinking, Hey,
you can't stop this offense. They're just too good. We're
gonna have to put up thirty to beat these guys.
And I think the Broncos defense quietly internalized all that
and planned to kind of squash that narrative. And I
think we can learn a lot from that. You know,
narratives don't win football games. And there's another one coming

(09:47):
up this week that we can talk about because now
they're facing the number one defense, right and so another
opportunity to squash a narrative that people are talking about.
And so I think the Broncos are gaining confidence. It
was really a great game top to atom. Everything went right,
and it's the type of game that gives you confidence
going forward, and confidence they really need.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Narratives don't win games. I like that that's good and
that that's exactly what we're this whole week has been about.
It's about the vaunted Texans defense, by the way, being
number one, and they are very good.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
I'm not trying to dismiss them.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
She realized, likely the second worst red zone defense in
the NFL. Like, if you can make it to the
red zone, and again, not everybody does right.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
Call through the desert thing.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
That's an interesting stat to get through the to get
to the red zone. But the conversion rate for touchdowns
is seventy points six percent.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
But they only give up fourteen points a game, I know,
so most of the time. Yeah, are they benefiting from
a lot of turnovers? Well, I mean some they have.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Eleven takeaways, which is fifth in the NFL, which is
pretty good, right, I mean that they're the three and four, right,
So there's some inconsistency here, and they're all really low
scoring games. They've also benefited from playing some backup quarterbacks.
They've been playing some teams that are not playing at
the height of their powers just yet. Like they played
Tampa Bay earlier this year, and that was kind of
a you know, it's a twenty nineteen game. Los Angeles

(11:06):
hadn't really clicked in. They still lost that game though,
fourteen to nine. Right, So they lost to Jacksonville seventeen
to ten. And Jacksonville' kind have been all over the place.
So they've had they've had some their best performances by
far Tennessee. So yeah, right, cam Ward, no offense Baltimore
when they were at their lowest, like absolute lowess, the

(11:27):
defense couldn't stop anybody, gave up forty four points. And
then they beat San Francisco on Sunday, Yeah, twenty to fifteen.
That was actually their best performance. But even then, and
I actually liked to c J. Stroup, fifty yards came
on a busted play to the rookie Woody Marks down
the sideline when I don't know, the San Francisco linebackers

(11:47):
decided not to cover the running back out of the backfield,
which is a rare occasion. Right, So you're right, narratives
on this game also abound. I don't feel like it's
quite the swing of the Dallas because the Dallas. The
Dallas game on Sunday felt like, you know, you talk
to anybody nationally and nobody can stop this Dallas offense.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Right.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
I mean we were in here and I was bringing
in stats historically of what Dak Prescott has done against
the Broncos with a little bit of a hole bit
of prayer, but also say, hey, sometimes you have guys
that just start struggle against teams and lo and behold
Dak Prescott.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
He struggled, Yeah, yeah, he did. And the Cowboys struggle
against the Broncos. They did had one here and you know,
thirty five years or whatever it was. So I do
think that Sean Payton really has his finger on the
pulse right now of this team and how to get
them to you know, to look past these narratives or

(12:42):
to really focus on what they're doing and believe that
they're going to get it done. I think he's a
master of the messaging. They're six and two. Look there, listen, listen,
look uh relative to yep, they are in first place.
They gotta be talking about the number one seed in
the A going into the playoffs, and that's what they've
got to be shooting for right now. Not like I

(13:04):
hope we hold on and win the AFC West. Guys,
no word, first place. So you're trying to catch us.
We're gonna widen the gap. We're not gonna lose another game.
We're not gonna talk about every game. We're gonna talk
about the game that's in front of us. But we're
going to plan to win, and we believe we will
win every game if we do win every game, We'll
be fifteen to two, we'll get the first round by.
I don't see the Colts, you know, finishing fifteen better

(13:26):
than fifteen and two fourteen three. I understand it's unlikely
the Broncos don't lose another game, but I think it's
on the table to talk about being the number one seed,
and if that's the case, you get a first round
by and then you get home field advantage throughout the
playoffs and the road to the super Bowl goes through Denver.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Oh, you did lose the highbreaker of the Coles. But yes,
yes you're right. But we're gonna lose a couple more games,
I think. I do they feel they feel pretty good?
Do they feel like the best team in the NFL?

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Too? I don't know what the best team in the
NFL looks like anymore.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
Yeah, every single week it feels like a whole different
conversation on what that actually means, doesn't it?

Speaker 2 (14:03):
It does? And I think what's gonna happen to the Colts.
It happens to a lot of teams who start off
super hot. Often it's hard for them to sustain that
throughout the entire season, and oftentimes one of these teams
who has a really solid September and October, falls off
a bit in November and December, loses their kind of advantage,
squeaks into the playoffs, loses the first round. I think

(14:24):
that could be the Colts. It happens every year to
a team. And I think the Broncos are continuing to
get better. And they didn't start off hot, but they're
getting hot, and I think if they get hotter, then
they have an opportunity to do something that nobody's expected
them to do this year. I like your optimism, So
you're feel pretty good about this game? Oh yeah, absolute.

(14:46):
Now I'll tell you that the Texans know that they
need to win this game. This is almost like a
bush way in backs against the wall. We got to
do this type of thing. But I don't think they're
that good, and I think their defense is pretty good,
not as good as the numbers will say. I think
the Broncos have an opportunity to again squash a narrative
put up twenty four twenty seven points on him. How

(15:07):
word are you about missing PS two? Yeah, that's a
big thing because the Broncos played man coverage more than
anybody in the league. And it's because they have pastor
Tan out there. So it's it's gonna be interesting to
see how Vance Joseph calls this game and what kind
of confidence he puts in the young guys who are
going to fill in. Is he going to say, look,

(15:29):
I'm not going to change anything. I'm going to call
the game like Pats out there because I believe in
that you can handle it over there. Or is he
going to adjust and call more his own coverage and
help his guys out more, And you know, that could
affect the way the defensive line operates and the and
the flow of that you know, pass rush, if you
all of a sudden start calling a different game in
the secondary with that kind of trying to protect guys

(15:50):
over there.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
You know.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
So, I think there's there's some consternation involved upstairs at
the facility about how to approach this defensively.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
You know.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
There there was always an adage with with Mike Shanahan
at least that like, hey, man, if if guy goes
down and you go in, we we don't expect any
drop off at all. Now, I know that's a big
ask for the defensive player of the year, sure, going down,
but that's the philosophy. We shouldn't have to change the
way we call a game because one guy goes down.
We should because this is a collective sort of thing here.

(16:23):
And so we'll see if that philosophy holds when you
lose your best player.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Yeah, Advance Joseph this week kind of said it the
same way. He said that the hope is that as
a team they can rally around. And again, it's going
to change a little bit. It kind of has to write.
But I'm with you. I mean, do you have a
lot of confidence in these guys for a reason, and
you know you built a lot of debts there in

(16:48):
the secondary. I do think that what VJ talked about
how he wants the pass rush to take ownership of
knowing that, hey, we don't have an island over there
where we can just send Nico Collins too, and he
doesn't get a ball, right, I mean, it's just one
of the things you guys got to get home.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
You've got to win. Yeah, the we have.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
To have good sticky coverage there as well as with
the linebackers and the secondary.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
I thought this was actually a really great answer.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
He was asked about preparing for a team that's a
little banged up. Right now, we know it looks like
Nico Collins is going to go. I haven't gotten the
official word. I think what he marks is going to go.
I'm waiting for the rest of it.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
But they are.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
They're missing some guy Dalton Schultz might not play, Christian Kirk,
so on and so forth.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
That's kind of like all their weapons. It's a lot.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
So he was asked about like preparing for a team
that's missing so many players.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
This is such a great turn of phrase from him.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
I think it's tough on them watching the tape, you know,
for the last four or five weeks, and watching Pat
out there first night, having Pat right, I think it's
more pressure on those guys to kind of figure out,
you know, who's going to play there and who's playing where,
and you know, what are you doing without Pat versus
For me, I don't care. I have a plan for
all for the tight end, for Nico if he plays

(17:56):
or not. Again, his system and it fits all the players.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Than ours, so good. They should worry about us.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
And he's right, I mean he's right to a certain extent, right,
I mean, we know more about what the Broncos defense
looks like with pats Ertan than we do without. Yeah,
you saw a little bit in the second half, but
even then that was on the fly adjustment. He's had
an entire week and he was even asked about that, Hey,
does it help having an entire week to know what
you have to do without pats Ertan. He's like absolutely,
I mean that's that's a big deal here to to

(18:24):
be able to get these guys into position and know, hey,
this is what we're going to be doing this the
looks we're gonna be giving. And the Texans now are going,
all right, this is a team that plays man more
than any other team in the entire NFL.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
Are they going to play more zone against us?

Speaker 3 (18:38):
Now?

Speaker 2 (18:38):
What are the what's the look we're actually getting here? Is?
Is it a man? Look for a zone? Look at me?
You send somebody in motion?

Speaker 1 (18:44):
Okay, that's a man, But then maybe on half the
field is going to be zone. I mean that there's
a whole sorts of different really creative things that Vans
could do here.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Yeah, and you know that that requires you to prepare
for all the eventualities and it makes you know, put
some more work on your plate, more plays that you
got to go over more conversions for these different plays.
They do this, we do this, they do this, we
do this. We've seen what happens when the Broncos have
all this stuff in their head, right, they get confused

(19:11):
procedural penalties, the clock takes down on the play clock,
they don't look very efficient. And so add this to
the list of things they need to prepare for for
this already very formidable defense that gives quarterbacks and offensive
coordinators nightmares to prepare for. Anyway. I mean, the Broncos
are you know, wreaking havoc in the backfield on these quarterbacks,
and so that's something you already have to prepare for.

(19:32):
Now there's uncertainty of what they're going to do on
the back end, and so yeah, I like that answer
as well. And it's also you know, for a young player,
for Chris Abram's dream, this is his dream, this is
what he's ready for, this is what he's sitting back
every week. Dang, you know, I want to be out there.
I want to be out there. Well, now it's your chance,
and you get to step into a role where you

(19:55):
know they're going to attack you. You know they're going to
come after you and you get a chance to make
a play. I know Sean and said he has the
best hands on the team. Does you hear that?

Speaker 3 (20:02):
I did?

Speaker 2 (20:03):
Courtland was like, yeah, exactly. And I was the receiver,
I'd be like, coach, come on, relatives to my hands.
But uh, because typically what we'd say is that dB
is just the receiver who can't catch. Sure, So if
he can catch, why isn't he playing a receiver? Coach
relative too? That's good? All right, Rob Roli here on
football Friday.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
It's Halloween. Thank you guys for tuning in with us.
Be safe tonight. All sorts of fun stuff coming up.
We're hoping to check out with pats er Tan here
in just a matter of moments. We do have another
pair of Broncos Raiders tickets to give away. I'll tell
you more about that coming up here in a little bit.
We have fifty dollars gift cards to Maverick one per
hour to give away. So all sorts of fun stuff
coming up, and we'll be right back. This is our

(20:44):
chance to one on a thousand dollars coming up the
next five minutes, thanks to Mercedes Beans at Littleton Mercedeslilton
Dot com shout out to the Kowi Commas Spirit Health
Hotline and bring on Broncos cornerback. Pats Er tan on
Kowa Pat your own and Nate Jackson and Ryan Edwards
my friend.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
Good to catch up with you. How are you.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
Doing well?

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Man?

Speaker 3 (21:08):
Can't complain how you doing?

Speaker 2 (21:10):
We're doing good. We're doing good.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
So first of all, checking in man, how are you
feeling and how how are things looking?

Speaker 3 (21:19):
Things are looking fine. You know, I'm up today on recovery,
taking this time to really recover and focus on my health.
So you know, we got a great medical staff, a
great team, great you know, trainers on ion, uh to
make sure. Uh, then I'm right about the time being So.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Yeah, Pat, can you talk a little bit about what
your schedule is like when you are injured? I mean,
you know, you, for most guys, you show up when
right before meetings, you go through meetings, you out to practice,
you do all that stuff. But what's it like when
you are dealing with an injury. Are are you just
showing up early and still going through the meetings and
out of practice or are you on your own schedule?

Speaker 3 (22:00):
So this was this is pretty unfamiliar schedule me because
I really had these things happen to me. But so
I got to wake up early at like seven am,
get to facility by like seven, and then from then
on there, you know, I go into meetings, team meetings

(22:21):
and stuff like that, catch up with the game plan
and stuff. Then I go back in for treatment. Then
I treat all day and go back home. So it's
a consistent program that I'm going through right now.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Have the doctor has given you any kind of timeline on.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
This, Yeah, they mentioned you know it's going to take
a few weeks, but they ain't ready to say a
real time frame. Is really based on how I feel
and how I'm recovering, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
So that's how they gave me, and that's how it
should be. You know, sometimes when people give a time
line and they're like, hey, it said three weeks, you
should be back in three weeks, where are you. It's
not ready yet. You know, everybody heals differently, and so
it's good to just listen to your body and get
out when you're feeling when you're feeling like you're ready.
So your replacement Chris Abrams drain out there a very

(23:15):
capable young man ready to go out there and take
the reins. As Sean Payton said this week that he
has the best hands on the team. Is that accurate?

Speaker 3 (23:26):
Nah, that's pretty accurate. He hit a spot on. I mean,
I just think his ability to like live back and
track the ball.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Is rare.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
You don already see that out of most corners. So,
and he had a little bit of a receiver history
back in Cottage as well. I think he was one
of those casts that transitioned to corner h later on
his Scottage career. And you know, obviously it panned out
well for him. So it seemed like his natural for
him finding the ball in the air and tracking it
and making the play. I mean, his instincts off the chart.

(23:58):
And uh, you know the place making practice is you
know what I mean, it's unreal.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
So I know that you want to be playing in
this game certainly, and you said it yourself, you don't
miss a lot of games. But is there an opportunity
here for you as a captain and as a leader
in that locker room so to sort of be a
resource for the guys in the secondary and the defense.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
Yeah, I'm always here to you know, help guys, Ben
or you know what I mean, whatever guys need they
want to pick my brain. You know, I'm here, but
I'm also knowing me being a captain, I'm still there
to provide veteran leadership and you know, I mean being
a leader towards the younger guys as well.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
You know, so.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
Just because I'm out doesn't mean I can't do just that.
And the third you know, I mean I'm still available
in terms of being that president leader and you know
what I mean, being that president helping in So.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
So, you guys are six and two, first place in
the AFC West, what's the conversation like about where your
goals are at this point? I mean, you guys obviously
shooting for the super Bowl? But is it is it
when the division? Is it? Number one seed in the
AFC West, Are I'm sorry, in the AFC in the
first round? By what are you guys talking about as

(25:12):
a team.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
Yeah, I think our goals are set right in front
of us. We all know that we control our own
destiny at the end of the day. And you know,
when we look at our schedule, you know we play
two divisional opponents these next few weeks, which could be big,
you know what I mean for our record, you know
what I mean, in the division. So you know, it's
always good to be first in the division, also first

(25:36):
in your conference, you know, I mean to get that
first round by so But like I said, we we
focus on the present moment, you know what I mean.
We got to finish you know, these games out the
right way, you know what I mean, Because I mentioned
before November is the most crucial part of the schedule, November,
November and December because out of you know, teams playoff

(26:00):
predictions is you know what I mean, these next few months.
So it's very vital for us to ready get things
going and make sure we're on the right track.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
Is it difficult sometimes to sort of stay in the
moment or is that just more or less how football
players are made?

Speaker 3 (26:17):
You know, it's it's like when you winning, like I
was mentioned, my teammates lay like, you know, the season's
flying by because you know we're winning a lot, and
it feels good when you win. But sometimes, you know
what I mean, it's it's natural to get caught up
in a moment and sort of lose you know what
I mean, that that determination, You know what I mean,
uh that grid sometimes But we all got to make

(26:40):
sure that we lock in uh every game, playing each
and every week. Uh, not be complacent, you know what
I mean? Uh, stayed the course and uh and I
think that's shown true evidence towards you know, teams that
win at a high level consistently, you know what I mean,
they do the little things right each and every week,
and uh, that's what we need to do for sure.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Patt's Halloween trick or treating going on today? Do you
have a favorite candy? Tough question? I I I actually do.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
I love Twigs. Twis is my go to good one,
you know what I mean? I could I can always
go with some Skittles, maybe a heath bar here and there.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
Okay, their coffee Yeah yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
So I'm I got quite a variety of candy that like.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
For sure.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
Did you do a costume this year?

Speaker 1 (27:32):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (27:32):
I was Jack Skeleton from uh.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Yeah, from Nightmber Christmas.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Good, that's a good one man. That's a did you
do your own makeup or.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
What did you do?

Speaker 1 (27:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (27:44):
I was all decked out. I had a makeup artist
come and do my outfree.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
So that's so cool man, that's awesome.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
Well, uh, are you to get us any trigger treating
tonight or is this more of a chill night at
the home.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
That's gonna be a chill night. I don't have no kids,
so I won't be stepping out to retreating.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
But when that time comes, uh, you know.

This week's question is from Reese. Hi, my name is name,
meet you. I have a question for you. What is
your favorite animals? That's awesome, Oh, Reez, that's a great question, man.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Uh my favorite animal, I would say a jaguar. I
love jaguars nice. I just think they're very versatile. I mean, uh,
I think when you look at a jaguar, like if
it's a description of you know what I mean, just
a finacious and uh, you know, fearful animal.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
So really jaguar, really impressive click and clothes there on
the jaguar out there in the wild. I could see that.
I could see that a lot. Uh, Pat, that's exactly right, Hey, Pat, Man,
wish you a speedy recovery, my friend. Thank you so
much for joining us here on Friday, and we'll shout

(29:14):
with you next week.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
All right, thank you, Thank you too.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
Passer Tan Broncos cornerback.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
I think it's a great point you brought up very
quickly here about how everybody body is different.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Right.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
The report came out said two to four to whatever,
two to four weeks, whatever kind of thing. And it's like,
if you put, hey, you're gonna be back by this date,
the timeline is awful for the player, yeah, because it pushes,
it creates pressure that he's got to be back out there,
and I mean he sees that it's gonna be two yeah,
it's gonna be three two weeks.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
What happens at the end of the two weeks when
you're not ready and everyone's looking at you like we
need you, you know. And so it's great that the
staff is not putting that pressure on him. And the
doctors didn't say it's going to be ready and X
number a day's rex number of weeks. They said, it'll
be ready when you feel like it's ready. Right, And
that's the exact way to treat, not just your defensive player,
of the year, but everybody on the team. However, sometimes

(30:09):
there is that feeling like we gotta get you out there.
I mean, if the Broncos lose to the next two
games and get gashed in the secondary, they might start saying, hey,
how you're feeling pat Is it feeling better?

Speaker 5 (30:22):
You know?

Speaker 2 (30:22):
I mean that kind of the circumstances create the imperative
to get your guys back out, but you're gonna need
them in December, January and fingers crossed February. Love what
you did there?

Speaker 3 (30:34):
All right?

Speaker 2 (30:35):
We will be right back.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
