Speaker 1 (00:00):
Nate Jackson, Ryan Edwards. Yeah, I had something prepared, it
didn't work. It's a football Friday, and of course it's Halloween.
Be safe out there, everybody. We appreciate you hanging with us.
We're going to have a good buddy of mine, Cody
Stuts joining us here in about ten minutes with his
thoughts on the Texans.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Checking with him a little bit.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
We've got an article up on our website Kwcolorado dot com.
Our guy Zach Seegers did a great write up on
Dream Trade deadline targets. He has a tight end and
inside linebacker. He went David and Joku out of Cleveland,
and he went Jordan Brooks, the inside linebacker out of Miami.
Since they they're obviously heading in a direction now with

(00:40):
team firing there well mutually parting ways with their GM,
I should frame that correctly. So maybe there's some opportunity
there for a team that has been losing a little bit.
I don't know inside linebacker. They're pretty excited about Ray
green Law, Yeah, coming back, and as they should be.
As they should be, I think as we've been spending
a lot of time talking about Pastor Tan it's like
under the raid Our point that hasn't really been brought

(01:02):
up a lot, is Drake Greenlaw is gonna be back.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Yeah, and limited reps. A couple of weeks ago. Uh,
he looked really good. He was in the backfield a lot,
thumping guys, doing exactly what you brought him in here
to do.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
You just have your fingers crossed.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
That he stays healthy, right, And it's kind of the
kind of thing where he's just got to get through
a whole game and feel good about it and and
and just you know, be healthy at the end of that,
and then he can shake that off.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
And then you know, he had to sit out.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Last week from that from that suspension. Emotional you know,
wasn't able to control in the moment. But I also
think it was a bit heavy handed with the punishment
doled out to him, and who knows why they did that.
But Drake Greenlaw makes this defense better. He adds this
sort of spark that it's hard to come by. I mean,
he was the biggest hitter on you know, the one

(01:48):
of the best defenses in the league a couple of
years ago with the Niners, and and we want to
see him do that here.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
So this could be a Drake Greenlaw game.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Is there something that I understand from the media's perspective
and maybe even for fans, we probably overblow this a
little bit, But is there something in his familiarity with
Amiko Ryans, with the forty nine ers and their time
together in the forty nine ers that could be valuable
to have him on the field again.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
He's on the.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Defensive side of the ball, so I don't know if
it's letting the offense know that there's some tendencies, But
I don't know is that is that something that we
try to speak into existence that doesn't actually exist.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Yeah, I think I don't think there's much to gain there.
I think what Tamiko O Ryans and their defense does
is pretty plain.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
They run cover a lot of zone, a.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Lot of cover three, and then they come up and
tack it and tackle ya.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
There.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Don't do a lot of exotic stuff. And you know,
everybody watches film. Everybody knows what everybody's doing. You know
there might be some signs, some the you can steal
or some some but do you know that there's scouts
for every team that go to watch their next week's

(02:53):
opponent and sit up there and just watch the sidelines
and try to write down the signs and what everybody's
doing so that the next week they have a book
on everybody. And I ran into a buddy of mine
who I played on the Broncos with.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
He's a Texan scout.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
I ran into him in the press box of the
Cowboys and he's sitting up there and he's got his binoculars,
he's got two computers, he's got notes, and he's trying
to figure out tells with the Broncos, the way they substitute,
the way they communicate on the sideline, their signage and
all that. So it's like you're stealing signs. Everyone's stealing signs.
Everyone's trying to get that advantage. And it's so institutionalized

(03:30):
that they'll put you up in the press box in
a designated seat to go and steal my signs, you
know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
And so it's just a it's a system that is
in place.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Everybody knows what everybody's doing, and so it comes down
to who wants it more.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
I love that you brought that up, though, because so
many times there's a little bit of a state secret
mindset with these teams, like the limited reporting, the limited
window of things you can see, and we often times
as media say that to ourselves like this is there's
nothing you're doing out there that hasn't been done or
been thought of. And I understand maybe some tendency stuff

(04:07):
or what other otherwise, but eventually the fingerprint of your.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Team is out there for everybody to see. Correct.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Yeah, there are wrinkles, you know, there's always the wrinkles,
the things that you saw that they do that you
want to try to take advantage of and you put
in that week and you know, Sean Payton's kind of
famous for some of that.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
I mean the.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Past the Courtland Suton caught to put them in field
goal range to beat the Giants was a play that
they had never run and that he put in the
day before. But at the same time, it was a
relatively simple play that he runs a fade from the slot,
you know, and the outside guy runs a post. I mean,
that's not like rocket science there. It's like we're gonna
put you in motion if it's man blah blah blah.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
So so yeah, there is a little bit.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Of paranoia there with coaches sometimes, but everybody's doing it
to an extent. What you can't do is what Joshi
Boy did back back in the day and film the
practice of your opponent.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Yes, that's.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Well, there's always rumors like the locker rooms are miked up, right,
you know what I mean, like they're listening, they're watching
what we do.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
So and probably some of that's true. You know, I
did my seven year old girl voice again, you could
be true. You've dropped into that a few times.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Yeah, but you know if you've caught someone, people doing
some of it, So there's probably more stuff that happens.
It's like, sure, you know, all the all the criminals
are not getting caught all the time. So so big
money involved, big egos involved. There's a lot high stakes,
so guys are gonna do what it takes to win.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
You know, our coach here famous for us kind of
towing that line. I mean, he got suspended for an
entire year back in the.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Day by Roger Goodell, so he's no stranger to trying
to find the edge.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Let me ask you one more question about the defense
before we get to a So, how do you expect
vance Joseph will fill in for patzer Tan. It seems
like the first look is going to be Chris Abrams strain.
Is there a bigger role potentially for Jade Baron.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
I think they would keep him at well.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
I don't know, no, no, not, you know, maybe a
few more snaps and maybe they do a little bit
less man.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
I still think they do a good amount of man because,
like you said, I mean Nico, they're kind of banged
up too, you know, their skill position players, So we
don't feel like we can't cover them. We feel like
our guys are still better even though pats er Tan's out.
You know, we feel like we can cover Nico Collins
because we cover Courland Sutton every day.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
You know, we cover these guys. We cover better players
every day.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Is it going to limit some of the attack you
want to do up fronts because of this?

Speaker 2 (06:53):
I don't think it will, okay.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
I see Vance Joseph seeing their attack as an integral
part of their identity and who they are. If they
take that away, you know, they lose some of their juice.
I think he knows that his players play very well
when you let him go, and I think he wants
to dial up ways to let him do that.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
I'm actually with you on all of it.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
I feel and We heard that clip from Vance earlier
where he was talking about the scheme, and the scheme
is the scheme, right, And there's a certain amount of Okay,
well you're not Pascer Tan, but also, we're not going
to remake our entire defense just because he's out, and
we have to we have to be true to ourselves
the things that we've been working on our all season,
all training camp that have gotten us to this level
of performance. And Chris Abrams drain this is You're gonna

(07:37):
have some moments where, yeah, we'll play some zonn and
you know, you're gonna have to have some good recognition.
And then simultaneously you're gonna be on an island and
you're gonna be matched up with whether it's Christian Kirk
or Nico Collins or one of these rookie wide receivers,
there's gonna be moments like that. So I'm one hundred
percent with you on what his ultimate approach is. And honestly,

(07:58):
and I said this yesterday to Rick, I think he's
kind of looking forward to it in a weird, kind
of twisted way. I mean, you don't want to be
down pats Er Tan. But on the other side of this,
you get to show some things. Ye as a defensive
coordinator when you're down one of the best players in
the league.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
Yeah, it's a challenge for an experienced coach to show
that he can. You know, no coach wants the perception
to be that you're good because you have this amazing player, right,
and so now's your chance to show that you can
do some you can dial up some some different stuff.
And I think, you know, I said earlier in the
show that I think in any time Mercedes Lewis touchdown
would be a good bet. I think Chris Abrams dray

(08:34):
might come up with a with an interception in this game,
because they're going to go after him, and if he
has the ball skills that everybody's saying he does, he's
going to.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Go get that thing. Best hands on the teaming to
the coach.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
That's right, all right, Your opportunity to win Broncos Raiders
tickets coming up here in about twenty minutes after our
coach's corner after five point thirty. Right now, we're heading
out to the Kawai Commas Spirit Health high Line and
bring on a good buddy of mine, Cody Stuts, who
covers the Houston Texans. Down in Houston, Cody, you're on
with Nate Jackson. Ryan, So what's up, man?

Speaker 2 (09:00):
How are you?

Speaker 4 (09:01):
I'm having a blast, man. We just got done doing
some stuff down here in Houston, getting ready for this
big one this weekend. Because it's a little measuring stick
game for both.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
These teams, isn't it? I would say so yeah, And
that's it's fascinating for the.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Broncos side of things just for a second, because you
come off of a pretty pretty big statement win against Dallas,
but then immediately the goalpost moved to well, that's not
a very good defense, So what do we really know
about the offense? And now you've got the Texans defense,
who's one of the better performing defenses in the league,
and now this becomes the new measuring stick.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
So I'm completely with you. How are Texans fans feeling
about this game?

Speaker 4 (09:38):
They feel pretty similar to a couple of weeks ago
when the Texans greetting ready to play the Seattle Seahawks.
They had come off of five incredible quarters of offense.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
They felt like they were headed in the.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Right direction offensively in minutes.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
Like hey, you got to play a real defense.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
You got to play real defense, and Seattle kicked them
in the teeth.

Speaker 5 (09:56):
They were not ready for the Seahawks.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
It didn't look good. They did a good job bouncing
back on a little bit of a short week against
San fran but it's not the San Frey you're used
to knowing. And then now Texans fans are kind of
in the same spot. They are not buying in until
the Houston Texans go out there and beat a good
football team. And you know what, the Broncos are a
good football team. They're a very good football team from
where Texans fans sit, and so if they want people

(10:21):
to buy in on them, the Texans have to beat
the Denver Broncos because I think we establish down here
in Houston. If not now, when for the Texans, because
they don't have a lot of really good teams coming
up after the Broncos. So this is a big like
prove its measuring stick, get me to buy in, make
me believe opportunity for the Texans against this Brocos team.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
So I imagine Texans fans are are bought in on
the defense because there are the number one defense in
the league. But what's going on with the Texans offense?
Why hasn't it been clicking well.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
They do not do a very good job of when
they make a mistake, just making that mistake. When they
make mistakes on offense, it turns into a chain reaction
of awful, awful decisions.

Speaker 5 (11:08):
I mean they if.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
They don't protect the quarterback, then the quarterback doesn't make
a good throw, then he throws in the reception or
he throws short of the sticks, and then if the
running back doesn't pass protect, then the QB scrambles when
there was actually a good pocket.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
Like, they just have a chain reaction of bad decisions.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
They can't tree eye or isolate one mistake and just
make one mistake. Things just go haywire for them on
offense when they make a mistake, and it's primarily centered
around the five guys blocking on the offensive.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
Line in the quarterback and the office line's.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
Not very good. They're much better than last year's offensive line,
and a lot of the advanced stats will tell you
they're somewhere in the middle in the NFL, But in
the Texans losses. They have a lot a ton of
pressure and C. J. Stroud hasn't done a good job
with the stuff that he's in control of the accuracy,
decision making when to step up in the pocket, and
when they have one games they've protected throut well and

(12:00):
he's been patient and taking what the defense gives him.
So very Jeko and Hine and the wins and the losses,
it's pretty clear to see how the Texans need to
operate to win, and it's pretty clear to.

Speaker 5 (12:10):
See how the opponents need.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
To make them operate to make them loose.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
In your opinion, and I guess also the opinion of
Texas Texans fans.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
What sort of happened with c J. Stroud.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
He seemed to be on a trajectory after that rookie year.
I remember talking to you because the Broncos were playing
c J. Stroud in the Texans that year and he
was just on this rocket ship after he won Rookie
of the Year. Last year was a bit of a
step back, I guess, and then this year has been off,
as you mentioned, a bit of a rocky start.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
Is this all offensive line? Is this scheme? What's your
take on it?

Speaker 4 (12:42):
So the year two was a combination of the offensive
line was awful. The scheme was figured out of a
National Football League and c J. Stroud himself admitted he
fought year two, after his first year in the NFL,
was gonna be easier. It was gonna be an easy year.
It was gonna it was. It wasn't gonna be as challenging.
I called this NFL all things not as tough for me.
I'm paraphrasing a little bit, but Stroud admitted it and

(13:04):
even talked this week. He even brought it back up
about how he felt like he had been humbled as
a football player and as a man for some of
the pride that he had in his game. So there's
a lot of things around him and including him that
went wrong in year two, and here in the start
of year three, the scheme change. It took him a
minute to buy into it here, because they went from

(13:26):
that Kyle Sanahan Gary Kubiak style of offense to that
New England Patriots death five thousand paper cuts. You know,
dink and dunk be very careful about when you take
your shots. And I don't know I Stroud totally loved
or bought into it. He'd mentioned a couple of times, Hey,
let's stop doing the stuff we're not good at. Let's
do a lot more of the stuff that we are

(13:46):
good at. But then ultimately his best performance, the one
against San fran was doing what the Patriots system loves
to do. Take that short stuff when the defense gives
it to you, get rid of the football, and then
be very careful about when you take those big shots
and those big plays down the field. And I think
he saw that work and Dinko Ryan.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
Talked about being disciplined at.

Speaker 4 (14:07):
The quarterback spots. Rod was very disciplined last week and
he played his best game of the season so far.
So he's going to need to be disciplined to get
against this Broncos team.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
Let's talk about the Texans number one defense given up
two hundred and sixty six yards a game and only
fourteen point seven points a game. What is it that
makes the Texans defense so dominant.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
It starts with that pass rush and then it kind
of bleeds into the fact that they are so tough
on wide receivers with Derek Stingley and Kamari Lasser, and
really Stingley hasn't even played that well to start this year.
He's had a couple of hiccups in a couple of
rough moments, but he's healthy and kind of rounding into
for him. He's starting to see more of that all
pro Derek Stingley here in.

Speaker 5 (14:47):
The past week or so, and he's feeling good.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
Kamari Lasner, the other quarterback, has been really, really good
the past few weeks. Again, took him a few minutes
to kind of get into a rhythm, but then Will
and Anderson and Daniel Hunter haven't gotten home as much
or as many sacks as you would have wanted. You know,
we always joked that they're more online shoppers because they
don't have sacks.

Speaker 5 (15:07):
At home, you know, So they're not as.

Speaker 4 (15:11):
Gotten home as much on sacks, but there's still an
incredible pressure rate for both of those guys. And Anderson's
one of the best pressure guys, and he has gotten
home a little bit. But they are at their best
when both those guys are cooking and both those guys
getting to the quarterback. And it really hasn't happened that
much in the time where they've spent time together, but
the pressure's good. They've been pretty sound tackling the past

(15:34):
few weeks.

Speaker 5 (15:34):
They had some issues with.

Speaker 4 (15:35):
That early in the season that really hurt them, especially
against Tampa Bay. So the tackling has gotten better they're
just very surehanded. And asking Sean Payton's comments this week
about how they don't do a lot, but they do
it really well, I think the Miko Ryans kind of
rattles that around in his brain and says, oh, we.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Don't do a lot.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
Huh, All right, well, let's just show you how hard
it is to move the ball against our football team,
because I think the Texans, even though they don't show
you a lot, they are pretty proud of how intricate
and how complicated they can make things look on defense.
So that's a fun matchup to watch, kind of a
matchup of wit. So these two really good coaches on
their side of the football.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Coatis Jew's joining us? Last one for me? Man, always
appreciate catching up with you. So the division is always
a weird one, right AFC South of the last several years.
I think every year we try to predict what's going
to happen there and it always ends up being a
little different. I thought the Texans would probably be the
class of that division, and you know, the Jacksonville Jaguars got.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
To a little bit of a hot start.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
They've cooled and then here you have the Indianapolis Colts
on a mission seemingly so where do Texans fans see
the Texans as it relates to not only the AFC South,
but the AFC right now.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
Bye bye AFC South.

Speaker 4 (16:48):
I mean, the Colts have created up such a wide
margin for error for themselves with their hot start, and yeah,
the Texans played them twice and the Colts schedule gets
much more difficult here on the back end, super impressed
with many of their victories. And you know, of course,
the referee saying at the end of the game against
Denver that one shouldn't have gone that way. That was weird.

(17:09):
But look, I've been the guy that I'm the last
guy to buy apple when it comes to the Colts.
I've been saying for weeks. I don't believe in him.
I don't like him. Hey, you know, I don't get it.
I don't get this. And then they turn out to
have the best running back in football, and they might
have the best tight end in football, and they.

Speaker 5 (17:23):
Got a really good offensive line and that quarterback.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
Man, I just you know, it's Halloween. You're gonna go
we You're gonna walk around your trigger tree. You're gonna
see a pumpkin and one of those pumpkins is gonna
look like Daniel Jones tonight, and eventually he's turning back
into a pumpkin. I know he is, I know he is.
I'm not believing in him. But Texans fans have kind
of kissed AFC South goodbye. They're worried about winning tie
breakers in that five, six seven matchup, which of course

(17:47):
might be a big one with Denver if the Chiefs
stay hot and if the Denver can't hold on the
AFC West. So again another element to how big and
how important this one feels.

Speaker 5 (17:56):
To Texan fans this weekend.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
You talk a little bit about the Texans injury. We've
heard about Nico Collins maybe banged Dalton Schultz.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
Who's in, who's out.

Speaker 5 (18:06):
Nico's good to go and that was a concussion.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
He's fine, he's ready to rock, So I'm not super
worried about him. The Schultz one is interesting. You got
to pay attention to this. Dalton Schultz is they're only
capable tight end. He's the only tied end that they
trust to actually throw the football to. He's had a
really good year blocking for both in the passing game
and the run game this year and he's got two injuries.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
He's got a.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
Shoulder and a knee injury. Only practiced on Friday this week.
It was a full practice, but it's kind of a
walk through on Friday, so it's not really a practice.
I would think he's gonna go. He seems like kind
of a gamer. He'll go, but I do wonder how
much the injuries affect his performance. And he's a guy
that again is a safety valve for CJ. Stroud some

(18:48):
of that short passing game. He's had some really nice
moments blocking and they really don't have very many guys
behind him that can do the same thing as him,
and in fact, to kind of limit some of the
snaps that he's on the field, they've got into this
jumbo package a bunch where they put an extra offensive
lineman on the field so they don't have to put
Schultz out there as much. And funny enough, Sean Payton

(19:10):
this week said, Hey, the reason we have tight ends
is so we don't end up.

Speaker 5 (19:14):
In jumbo, and I was like, well, that's interesting, but yeah, so.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
Schultz is the one that I pay attention to. Everybody
else seems to be pretty.

Speaker 5 (19:19):
Good and should be good to go. Kind of a full.

Speaker 4 (19:21):
Strength Texans outside of Dalton Schultz. There was a little
worried about what he marks, but he's got no injury designation,
so he's ready to rock too.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
All right at Cody Underscore stuts on Twitter stots and
check out his fantastic work at Hugh footballhou Football dot com.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
My man, always great to catch up with you. I
really appreciate the time.

Speaker 5 (19:40):
This afternoon, anytime, anytime.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
All I appreciate it, Coach stud It's good stuff, good
good information there. All right, when we come back, we're
gonna have our coach's corner, all right. Sean Payton breaking
down a play with voice the Broncos Dave Logan, who's
celebrating his six hundredth game up on Sunday, which is
pretty cool. So we'll have that's also your chance to
win Goes Raiders tickets that is still to come this
Hour's chance to win one thousand dollars coming on the

(20:04):
next five minutes thanks to Mercedes Bens with Littleton Mercedes
Littleton dot com. And I do wonder now internally how
many times I've heard Sean and I'll say this, Well,
we're on a training camp next year. Yeah, I'm gonna
be listening for the hey, let's go.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Yeah, it's more of an assistant coach thing than Hey,
coach has to actually deliver a message.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
Now, sometimes let's go as a message.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Yes or come on or guys or hey, and it
could be different things.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
It could depending on the tone and yeah, who we
come on, guys.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
Yeah, let's go different difference go guys, Hey, come on,
come on.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
All right, so we have and we love doing this.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
We have our coach's corner and right after okay, letting
you guys know, right right after this wraps, we'll be
looking for caller ten for Broncos Raiders tickets, but without Ado.
Here is Voice of the Broncos, Dave Logan, who's going
to be celebrating his six hundredth game wow on Sunday.
By the way, shout out to coach Peyton and the
Broncos for giving him a ball right before they did

(21:11):
this interview, which was really really cool.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
So shout out to them.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
But Voice the Broncos Dave Logan Coach Payton breaking down
the Pat Bryant's touchdown.

Speaker 6 (21:19):
Here we go mix the deep drop, looks left, throws
the ball He's got Pat Bryant in the corner of
the hands.

Speaker 5 (21:24):
O Brian makes the catch, touchdown.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Ten for twenty four yards.

Speaker 6 (21:29):
So Sean Pat Bryant catches his first NFL touchdown in
that big win at home against Dallas last week. Let's
talk a little bit about that play.

Speaker 7 (21:37):
So, you know, a lot of weeks, we'll have an
empty package, and sometimes you want to decide if you're
going to have a running back involved in the package.
In this case, it was a squadron. We had the
half back to the strong side. Immediately when he's furthest outside,
if a linebacker goes goes out there, you get a
man's own read and then we usually have three or

(22:00):
four plays in squadron we can get to. And so
I think it was second and two, but we got
a shell look and he got to a play that
I would tell you if we practiced that defense versus
that play, ninety nine percent of the throws would go
to Sutton on that bender. And the safety leaned a

(22:23):
little bit of off the alley towards Sutton and it
left Pat in that hole. And so when he threw it,
I had no idea where he's throwing the football. And
and so my point is he I can't recall a
rep where he hit and it was the right read.
You know, there's a conversion by Pat in the turkey

(22:44):
hole and Sutton's bending the safety leaned, and it was
it was.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
It was a.

Speaker 7 (22:49):
Fabulous read and throw in a really good catch because
it was right at that like if we'd have been
on the nineteen yard line, I don't think I think
it's complete. Yeah, yeah, So when the ball's in the air,
you have a one point two second thought of what
the hell? Yeah that comes up. Yeah, that happened two
times in that game, that play. And then there was

(23:12):
a play we hit Mimes on a go ball all
right versus bump and run, and we brought Troy in
short motion and all week the play is you know,
f sail, it's Troy's play and Mims is clearing. And
when he threw it, yeah, when he threw it, I
had that same like where's he going? And then good job.

Speaker 5 (23:31):
It happened.

Speaker 7 (23:32):
Happened twice, Yeah, all right to Pat, And I would
say all during the week in practice that went to
that that ball never went to Mims. And but that's listen,
that's encouraging. That's vision and kind of seeing and so
that happened twice in that game. And and on a
good note, both of them were big completions. The one
the mems that was significant. You know, we were chasing

(23:55):
at that point. But Pat's the same way.

Speaker 6 (23:58):
So you know what I thought was good with with
Pat Aside from that's his first touchdown and receivers always
remember the first touchdown. He's a guy that gives you
such good effort. In the running game, we used to
every aspect. I used to have a saying called if
if you play in the mud, you're first in lined,
and it was Raymond Berry is my receiver coache, Yeah,

(24:19):
And it was his way of saying, listen, you got
to get in to dig out safeties.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
If you do, we're going to take care of That's right.

Speaker 7 (24:25):
Well, everyone everyone talks about running the football well, and
I think you can watch the tape and see who
blocks the force or who doesn't. And now there are
times in RPOs where you don't have to, but ultimately
you have to be able to You have to be
able to block the four. Today we're playing a team
that's playing a lot of quarters and so not Cloud

(24:49):
and so when it means their safeties are going to
get involved in the run and man, this how deep
is the safety? And tell me how long I can
stay on this corner? And then I've got to handle
these so the splits today and handling these quarter safeties
in the run game and making make in the corners, tackle,
make in the corners tackle, yep, sounds good.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
Appreciate you time, Appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (25:09):

With a turkey hole.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Oh my good gosh, that was wow, Sean.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
You know what the turkey hole is, right, I.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
Well, in the turkey hole, I thought i'd it's a
Thanksgiving term.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
No, I'm kidding, it's it's it's the it's the hole
in the coverage versus cover two between the corner and
the safety.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
It's just like a turkey hole in the turkey hole.
Youll that.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
No, it's ever heard it called the honey hole, honey holes,
chicken hole.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
The honey holes what I've heard.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
Yeah, Well, Sean Payton marches to the beat of a
different drummer.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
Look listen relative to turkey holes in the turkey hole.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
I mean it was a helbow pass and it was
great awareness by bon Nicks with the flag.

Speaker 3 (26:35):
Well, yeah, it just goes to show you, man like,
it's what's really cool about here. And you know those
guys talk about that now his first read, never going
to throw that ball, don't practice it that way, and
in practice coaches want to see it.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
A certain way versus certain looks.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
They never throw that, and all of a sudden, the
game happens and you feel it and you're feeling yourself
and you throw it where you want to throw it.
And that's the autonomy a quarterback should have. And what
I like to hear from Sean Payton is that you
know when he does throw those balls that he quote
unquote shouldn't throw, and he's like, oh oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
Cool, good complete.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Now if it's an interception, you're gonna hear from it
him on the sideline. But you know, the more and
more Bow plays, the more autonomy will have to make
those decisions, and you the more free tom Me has
to throw it wherever he wants. The better for this
offense and for every receiver. And it's good for every
receiver to know that I could get the ball on
this play. I might not have ever seen it in practice.
I might just be clearing out here, but Bow might

(27:25):
throw it to me, So I gotta be ready, all
right in studio.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
Hi, Ben, I'm here.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Yeah, yeah, that's we did it in the first hour,
the first hour of the show. And then it's like
having to look him in the eyes the rest of
the way and be like she didn't just cut me down,
Like I'm like in office space. I'm like the neighbor here,
though I don't put that mean I fa gets called that.
I don't put that on me. I don't want to
be I don't want any part of it. Hey, I'll

(27:55):
be calling number six right now, three or three seven,
three eighty five eighty five, calling number six real three
seven one three eighty five eighty five, And you're gonna

those ways. So I'm just letting you know right now
that you should just stop calling on that. But maybe
somebody stayed on hold through my show for two hours
thinking they were on hold that guy was full of crap.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Okay, all right, great? Great? Does he call me a narcissist?

Speaker 4 (28:40):
What you narcist?

Speaker 2 (28:42):
Of all people?

Speaker 4 (28:43):
All right?

Speaker 1 (28:43):
I mean, I'm just I was right here? Have you
thought he was talking to bed I left? How all
three of us were like, that's a bit like I
own it.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
That's you know, it's not that I'm a narcissist something
better than everybody.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
I mean, facts are facts, right, if it's factual, it
can't be so for uh, for showing the money. You
you're gonna win this thing.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
But for a moment.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
We have Game six in the World Series tonight and
then we get the Nuggets. The Abs went earlier, which
is very nice.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
So have you been watching the World Series? Yeah? What
do you think is going to happen tonight? I think
they're gonna I think they're gonna end it in to Yeah,
it's done. It's a wrap.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
Yeah know you well, Yamamo has been pretty special so
far in the postseason. So whatever hope the Dodgers have
of hanging in there is kind of resting on him.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
But yeah, hitting very well, No they are not. But yeah,
Toronto's gone mo. Yeah exactly, they've had all the mo.
What do you think? Then Dodgers extended one more game? Real,
we didn't get hit Game seven. We're gonna get a
game seven. Oh, that's gonna be cool. I mean it's
pretty awesome Games of the World series. Yeah, it's gonna
be a lot of fun.
