Speaker 1 (00:00):
Touchdown Denver Henry toe toe beating on the play twenty
seven yards nicks to Harvey.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
The protection was great for Bow.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
He stepped into the pocket and gathered himself a couple
of times.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
And then two point conversion.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Pumps throws the ball to the end zone. Catch two
point conversion is good. That's Troy Franklin with the catch.
Kaylon Bullock on the coverage. I said, we've seen it
before with this Broncos offense and Bow knicks at the helm.
They've got a little bit of magic to him in
the fourth quarter and we've seen it early.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yeah, no doubt about that.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
That is our electrifying play of the game, powered by
IBEW Local sixty eight Star with the jobbing with a
career visit ibe W sixty eight dot com. Welcome back
to Broncos react on Ryan Edwards. Hey, by the way,
as we typically do, and we're on till eight o'clock,
so plenty of opportunity for you. We're giving way a
fifty dollars gift card to Sam's Number three and bar,
(01:01):
presenting sponsor of Denver Defense three and ouns. In fact,
we're giving away three fifty dollars gift cards to Denver's
to Sam's Number three Diner and Bar. So listeners have
to be in Denver Boulder. Okay, So there's one caveat
Devers have to be a listener in Bold in Denver Boulder.
But three fifty dollars gift cards to Sam's Number three
Diner and Bar are on the line, so be good
(01:23):
look forward to it over the course of the next
four and a half hours. Benjaminal Bright will be along
here in a little bit. In the meantime five six
six nine zero. It's like hey with common Spirit health
text line. Thank you for answering my text. Ryan do
a great job in Broncos reacting all the sports children
in the week.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
It's very kind of you, Ryan. I get tired of
Bo being compared to t Bow and his fourth quarters.
We had John Elway. If you're going to compare anything,
compare him to Elway. The best Bronco ever. Lay was
pretty good in the fourth quarter. Great win today, seven
and two. Jason and San Clemente, Well, listen, I don't
think it's necessarily a slight. I mean, some people when
they say Tim Tebow, it's a slight, Okay, So I'm
(01:58):
not going to say everybody, But for me, it's more
of just the ability and the belief to never sort
of give up even when all the chips are down. Now,
you're right, John was tremendous in some of those fourth
quarter comebacks. I think it's just because it's a little
more recent with Tibo and it defies some of the
logic of how the game has been playing up to
that point. That's where it feels very tebow esque. Winning
(02:21):
the way they did against the Giants is like, it
makes no sense. If I had told you everything that
happened in the game, you'd say, well, the Broncos lost badly,
and then the fourth quarter happened, and that was what
Tim Tebow did over and over again, as you guys know.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
So.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Ryan Dean from Wowming Broncos Country always appreciates your enthusiasm
and optimism, but as an exercise, give us your best
wet blanket and tell us what you didn't care for,
what you'd like to see better. Yeah, I mean, listen,
I tend to be a little bit more on the
optimist side. I mean that's just what it is. But
I will say I'm critical when it needs to happen.
I was certainly critical early in the season when they
(02:58):
were losing the games that they did.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
In this game.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
You know, it felt like when they were having some
success with JK. Dobbins, they'd get away from it a
little early. I thought they were a little too cute
with some of the behind the line passes, the screens
that they were setting up. I sort of felt like,
because of the defense they were playing, that we'd see
more of that. I talked to Ben about that this
morning during the opening line. I think George with the
(03:22):
Franian Fantasy Show, I said, I think we're gonna revert
back to a little bit more of what the offense
we've seen. They're not going to be downhill attacking as
much here, but yeah, a little bit of that. I
just I think there's some things on special teams that
need to continue to be cleaned up, which is a
little frustrating when you're nine weeks into the season that
you're still trying to clean up some penalties, some just
(03:44):
overall mistakes in fielding, those kinds of things. But again,
there's just like like you overcome all of it. I mean,
you were minus two in the turnover differential and again
time of possession was not in your favor. Texans had
the ball for almost thirty five minutes. It's here twenty five.
By the way, that's our fast stat presented by Exfinity
(04:05):
introducing the five year price Guarantee, one Internet price five
years guaranteed. One nice thing today was the penalties only
four for forty one the Texas four for twenty nine.
I thought the pet Texans got away with a couple
of things too, But you know again, we'd be grousing
about that a little bit more in the post game
if the Broncos would have lost the game. We go
(04:27):
back to the phones though, three oh three sev one,
three eighty five, eighty five and.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
I oh sorry, hold on, press the wrong button, Ian,
and Iowa, you're up next year? What's up?
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Ian?
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Daron be on you again? As always, Broncos win. I
would ask a rhetorical question now, looky teams are tuning
in two and how many are six straight wins? Because
apparently we're catching a lot of slack for winning games.
That's why I checked. It's hard doing games as well.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Yeah, and Ian, I'm sorry your phone is is really
really rough there. I apologize, I know you hang on
hung on there for a while. I tell you what,
if he gets a chance to call back in, that'd
be fine. But yeah, we're gonna have let you go.
But I hear your question. Sothing else I'll answer your question. Yeah,
it doesn't happen to be seven and two, especially in
the NFL, to be fluky every single week. Like I said,
people will make the argument that they are a fluky
(05:18):
seven and two. There was a point earlier in the
season that maybe around four or five wins, I thought
we could.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Have a little bit of that.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Are you a legit four or five win team, or
as some would paint it, as a fraudulent four or
five win team? But you found a way to answer,
and you've answered in different ways. The thing that I
love about the team, and I know that most Broncos
fans feel this way. Of course, some will argue the opposite,
because that's what we do. Is that you're unique to
the situation, which makes you formidable no matter what happens.
(05:50):
So people will point out people have even tweeted at
me today saying this would never beat the better teams
in the AFC, like this performance today. You're probably right,
but it didn't have to and you didn't have to.
You're playing the Houston Texans. You're in the moment, and
being in the moment will win you a lot of games.
If you're thinking in terms of, boy, we just didn't
(06:11):
play well enough to beat the Ravens today, or beat
the Chiefs or the Bills and some of these epper
echelon AFC teams, then you're missing it and you're gonna
lose a lot of games. If you're comparing yourself constantly
in the midst of one singular game to the best
in the league, it doesn't matter you stack wins, you
put yourself in position. This was a massive win, not
(06:32):
only to maintain polling place in the AFC West, but
also as well as in the AFC. You're tied with
the Patriots and with the Colts at the top of
the AFC right now, and you gotta take that.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
You understand that's exactly where you want to be.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
And you got the Raiders coming up on Thursday, an
eminently winnable game on Thursday night, and then you'll have
the Chiefs here in about two weeks. You apologize for nothing,
You just keep winning. Parlay you up next year on
Broncos react, what's up part.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
Hey, how you doing, man, I'm good.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
What's up?
Speaker 6 (07:06):
Hey?
Speaker 5 (07:06):
I just want to say that I appreciate the win. Hey,
we got it. It's all good. I have a one
question and a comment. My comment is that I think
that the office need to step up a little bit
more and be more consistent between the three quarters. You
(07:30):
always step up in the fourth.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
I mean, there's there's no argument. I mean there's no
argument for that.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
I mean I think we'd all like to see more
consistent play for three quarters. I've said it a little
more a while earlier one of the Broncos reacts, or
maybe I said it during K sports. They're doing the
hard part. They've got the hard part down right. The
hard part is is coming back and being clutching the
fourth quarter. Now you need to go back and figure
out some of the easier stuff, which is just consistency.
(07:57):
And I don't mean that in like a flippant way.
I'm not saying consistency is easy. I'm just saying playing better,
more consistent early on should be something that all teams
tend to be able to do. But the fourth quarter,
the clutch stuff that is not for everybody. And this
is now four comebacks that the Broncos have had this
year and that that's right up there with the best teams.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
In the NFL.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
Absolutely absolutely. And now I have a question for you too.
You know, I was watching the game today and it
was on Fox. Now, I kind of want to know
what do you guys think about how Fox broadcast is
the game? Now? When the games is on CBS, you know,
(08:40):
I can see in the corner, you know, the other
games that are going on, the scores and highlights and
everything what's going on. But on Fox, I mean, you
don't see nothing.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
You know, I can't really tell you. I mean we're
listening to it back here on the radio call. I'm
watching it on TV, but I don't have the audio
up of the Fox call. So for me, it's it's
just I have the visual and I'm listening to Dave
and Rick's call.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Now.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
I will go back and watch the game tomorrow and
Tuesday and so on and so forth. But yeah, I
don't get a chance to hear the TV call until later.
Speaker 7 (09:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
Yeah, but check in though. When you watch the game,
I mean, you don't see no highlights on the other
games that are going on, you know. I mean, well,
I'm not saying that you don't see highlights. But on
CBS in the in the bottom deal, you can see
what's going on. No, you know, I mean I watch football.
I love football, and I keep up with all the
(09:36):
scores and everything. And on Fox it's just it's nothing.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
I listen, man, I hear I hear you. I'm not
saying it's it's the best broadcast. Unfortunately, I can't. I
can't tell you what what they did or didn't do.
But I appreciate the call as well. Man always, Luke,
you're up next year on Broncos react of Broomfield.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
What's up?
Speaker 4 (10:00):
Luke?
Speaker 8 (10:02):
Hi?
Speaker 4 (10:05):
I was just gonna say, Jill Broncas and.
Speaker 9 (10:10):
Do you have any questions for me here?
Speaker 2 (10:13):
You know I don't get that. I don't get that
very often. Luke. How old are you?
Speaker 8 (10:17):
Nine?
Speaker 2 (10:18):
All right? Nine? Okay?
Speaker 3 (10:19):
So you're you're a Broncos. Who's your favorite player? We'll
start with that.
Speaker 6 (10:25):
Probably.
Speaker 9 (10:28):
I think I'm not sure I like I like.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
A lot of them, Okay, Bonix, I'm sorry say that again.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
I can't him a lot of their names.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
That's okay.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
It's it's intimidating to call into a radio show. Okay,
so let me ask you one more question. What what's
your favorite win so far this year?
Speaker 4 (10:52):
What?
Speaker 10 (10:52):
If?
Speaker 4 (10:52):
What?
Speaker 2 (10:53):
Which? Which game is it? This one? Specifically? Did you
like the Dallas win last week?
Speaker 4 (10:57):
I like the New York Yeah, that's.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
A good one.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
That especially that fourth quarter comeback was was pretty special,
wasn't it?
Speaker 4 (11:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Very cool?
Speaker 4 (11:08):
That means yeah, that's.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Do you have any Broncos jerseys?
Speaker 5 (11:17):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Okay, which one do you have?
Speaker 9 (11:21):
I can I check?
Speaker 3 (11:24):
You have a hate in Manning jersey? That's outstanding. Hey,
this is that's my favorite quarterback of all time. So
that's a really good one. All right, Luke, thank you
for the call in, man, I appreciate it. It's not
often you get a call in and asking me if
I want to ask person questions, But I'm in for it.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
It's good. We try that more often. I guess. Uh,
let's go. You know, Ian? Is this the Ian that
called in earlier?
Speaker 3 (11:49):
All right, Ian, let's try this again. Let me see
if your a connection is a little better.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
Can you hear me now?
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Yes? Yes, I got you, man, I got you. I
just I felt bad you were hanging on for so long.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Go for it, No, I appreciate you guys. Appreciate it
to being able to talk to you guys and that
you know, and I always it's cornfields and windmills, So
you might have lost me there, but this one to
talk about the game and how amazing the comeback was
and every week, and I'm asking a rhetorical question here,
is Denver is the best team that's ever? Didn't know?
But are they seven and two?
Speaker 6 (12:19):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Our good teams FL seven to two? Do good teams
in the NFL us on a sixteame win streak? Do
good teams NFL go on the road and win games
against the tough Houston Texans team? And I'm sorry to
like see day Stroud. I'm sorry the hindered, But did
the Texans drop off anything when he went out? Probably not.
I mean, he's fine, it's fine. But Denver one, they
(12:43):
came back to win like they always do. And Bonicks
miss and throws, but guys, they they win. What's Bonick stats?
As far as wins lost? And as far as I'm
concerned the NFL, that's the most important staff is winning games.
And so Bonus continues to win games. And it was
great and we missed clearly without PS two. Today, we
(13:03):
missed some on defense, but the defense got done. They
helmet to five field goals and Dever wins again, and
here we go. But one thing I would like to
see is and you guys, you guys, tell me if
I'm completely wrong here. And Sean had a quote after
game that I thought was curious. But he's something about
using Bonus's legs and he said, you know you don't.
We're looking at one read, we're looking at two reads.
(13:25):
You know we're not essentially looking for both used legs.
I think I think it's a missed opportunity, to be honest,
because Bonnis is not Josh Allen when it comes to
using his legs. He's not physical, but he can you fast,
you can use his legs. It's a weapon on third
and five. Let him use his legs both and run.
He is a very capable and willing runner. Turn him
(13:45):
loose because as you saw on that last drive, he
can and will do it, so he's much as a
low coach. I think that's missed opportunity. So I'd be
curious to you guys thoughts on that, because I think
bo it with a missed opportunity and not have that
that ohmen or offense. So thanks a lot, guys, and
go Broncos.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
All right, appreciate it again. I'm inclined to agree with you.
It felt like some missed opportunities. There were a couple
of times where I heard Dave calling through the radio
say he could run his here and he opted not to.
But I don't know, and you're right Sean to talk
about that. He said, It's kind of like you don't
interrupt somebody in their backswing, and I think the imagery
is about right there, right you just say, okay, I
(14:25):
want to trust your instincts in the moment, and certainly
showed up there when it mattered the most, right there
at the very end of the game, with that twenty
five yard scramble three out three seven three eighty five
eighty five five six six nine zero or Kae Commas
spread out text line. Kodiak Building Partners teamed up with
Gary Bowles and his GB three Foundation for seventy two
to charity for every Denver offensive points. Codiac Building Partners,
(14:47):
through its Kodiak Foundation, donates seventy two dollars to Number
seventy two's GB three Foundation supporting Colorado children families and
veterans in need. Today's eighteen offensive points for one two
hundred ninety six dollars total of sixteen two hundred for
the season.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Way to go. Okay, the Bills have.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
A twenty one to ten lead now with about a
minute thirty three left in the second quarter. We'll keep
posting on that one. Jaguars and Raiders right now. Jacksonville
just intercepted Geno Smith and so now it is a
six to three lead for the Raiders, but Jacksonville is
in scoring range with the possibility to tie, maybe even
take the lead, So we'll keep posting on that one
as well. We'll be right back on the KWA Broncos
(15:27):
radio network. Broncos had four sacks today, two on Davis
Mills and two on C. J.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Stroud.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
For every sack made in today's game, the Dan Kaplis
Law Firm will make a generous donation at Denver Catholic Charities,
which services more than fifty thousand homeless annually. For more
ways to sack homelessness, go to c C Denver dot org.
Brought to you by Dan Caplis Law, a serious firm
for serious cases. Welcome back to Broncos react on Ryan
Edwards reel three seven one three eighty five eighty five
five six six nine zero. Kwai commas burial text line.
(15:55):
We're live from the Smashburger sports desk with the new
four nine to nine menu featuring the single All American Burger,
single de Luxe Burger, and the new Americana Big Dog.
We will get back to the phones a couple of
texts here really quickly. Five six six nine zero. Matt
and Greeley just wanted to say I will always take
a win. I do think our big issues are all
around attention to the small details in the first three quarters,
(16:17):
fourth that always comes together. I mean, it's a great
observation Matt tonight, and that's exactly what it feels like.
I even said that after the Giants game. For the
first three quarters, all the things that you could do
wrong you did. And then all of a sudden in
the fourth quarter, the things that you kept making mistakes
on you figured out and executed flawlessly. And I saw
a stat I think, Zach seekers I know this is
(16:38):
Steven's actually sorry. I get you guys confused, how I'm
messing with you.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
I'm messing with you. He's just standing right here. He's
doing a great job.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Zach Stevens said, Bonis in the fourth quarter, nine of
sixteen for seventy six yards, a touchdown in thirty six
rushing yards.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
Clutch.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
And it wasn't a great day. Listen, it was not
a great day for Bonix. I mean, eighteen for thirty
seven your sub fifty percent. That's not a good day.
But made the plays when you had to, and sometimes
it's I don't know. There's two thoughts on this right
before we get back to the phones. There's two thoughts
in this. First of all, you're saying, hey, I'd like
(17:12):
to see more from my franchise quarterback.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Okay, I get that.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
But also, this is a year two player and he
showed up when you needed him to do it, and
the team believed that he would do that. And so
as bad as it was, you made plays. You scored
seven points in the second quarter, and you scored eleven
and the fourth. Meanwhile, you held the Houston Texans to
three second half points. As a defense, he did everything
(17:39):
he could other than the interception earlier in the game.
He did everything he could not to put the defense
in a worse situation. You only took one sack for
two yards, Will Anderson. That is a prolific defensive line
and you took one sack in the entirety of the
game for two yards. It's pretty good stuff, Like I said,
not great, not elide, but pretty good stuff.
Speaker 10 (18:01):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
The Chiefs get all the way down to the one
yard line and have to sell for a field goal.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
That's good news.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
So it looks like the Bills are gonna probably head
the halftime here with a twenty one to thirteen lead.
We go back to the phones three oh three, seven one, three,
eighty five, eighty five and Donald Grand junctions up next.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
What's up? Donald?
Speaker 8 (18:21):
Hey, Ryan, Top of the day to you.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Top of the day to you as well, sir, How
are you good?
Speaker 6 (18:28):
I guess he'll take care of the Raiders and then
we'll take care of Kansas City.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
That's the plan.
Speaker 5 (18:37):
Yeah, I think they'll be able to do it.
Speaker 6 (18:39):
And Bone knows bo Boe reminds me of John Elway
coming back in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
Yep, I'm getting some of those comps here on our
text line as well. People say that it reminds them
of that for sure. Okay, all right, anything else, Donald
Broncos gobron always got to end with the Gobroncos, always
got to with Gobroncos.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
That's Donald from Grand Junction.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Back to the phonees Easton in Loveland is up next
to you on Broncos Reac.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
What's up Easton?
Speaker 10 (19:07):
Hey there, just calling in one of a couple of
questions on both sides of the ball real quick for you.
You know, Bonix is getting the job done. You know
seven to two. You can't complain about that, right One
question I have is his decision making going to be
something we need to look at moving forward? Is that
something of concern for us right now? You know, there's
a lot of times I thought he was just kind
of leaving a lot on the table. There was times
that he could, you know, run for that first down
(19:30):
and he was kind of making some across body throws
getting the happy feet. Is that something we kind of
need to maybe look at moving forward. Is that sophomore
slump type stuff? You know, but at the end of
the day, I know they're getting the job done.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
I has to take to say sophomore slump.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
I'd say that there's some times where he abandons clean
pockets that bothers me a little bit, but otherwise I
think again he kind of makes the decisions when he
ultimately needs to anything else.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
Easton.
Speaker 10 (19:54):
Well, last thing, Patrick Sutan. You know obviously you know
we missed him today. We got the job done that
without Patrick through Tan. There is that something you know
is Riley Moss also, you know, is that something we
might want to strengthen here in the off season trying
to look something for the draft there or you know,
are we sitting good with what we have right now
in your opinion?
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Yeah, it's a good question. I'll put you back on hold.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
It's it's sort of complicated, right because I think that
I'm a bigger fan of Riley Moss than some out there.
I'd say, because you drafted Jade Baron that you're feeling
pretty goodbout where you're at. I mean, you paid pats
Er Tan, Riley Moss is going to be going into
his fourth and final year, so you feel like you're
going to roll with that. You might bring back with
(20:37):
Ja Kwon McMillan on an RFA and of course you
have Jade Baron here and then I mean you like
to just continue to build with that and Chris Abram's
strain and it's a position though that they love to
be deep at and we've seen that through many of
their moves is and they're not going to be shipping
off players from the secondary for that reason, because they
(20:59):
want to be cantinuing to add not only competition but
depth there.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
So I really like the position that they're in.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Can you always add, Sure you should add, But I'm
not bringing anybody that's here to supplant Riley Moss.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
I'm not.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
But I don't have any problems with bringing more competition.
I think it's always a good thing. This one driving
home from Houston. Fun game to be at. That's Breton
Christina Colra Springs.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Drive safe. Thank you guys for listening to Broncos React.
We appreciate that. Andrew up next year on Broncos React
out of San Diego. What's up, Andrew? Andrew there? Hey,
there's the phone up?
Speaker 4 (21:37):
Okay, can you hear me? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (21:39):
I got you? I got you? What's up? Andrew?
Speaker 6 (21:41):
He Yes, I was I was saying, no news is
good news on Riley Moss. He played a really good
game today. I think the secondary played a good game.
I love the second half where they really strapped down
and really gave the offense opportunities that put this game away.
Love a pumpkin spice lot on the great broncos Win
(22:02):
got throw that in there. And also again Ryan, you're
just a great Samaritan for this society. I love how
you handle Luke, the young fella. That was very cute
in asking you if you had any questions. I thought
that was well handled, just like bow knicks handle in
the fourth quarter. The you know the thing I was
and it goes back to what we talked about earlier
(22:24):
in the season, and it's rearing its head again and
I'm hoping that maybe it'll be like a Vance Joseph
situation when Vance Joseph was the first year defensive coordinator
where we were like questioning, do we keep Vance Joseph
And it turned out to be, you know, paying dividends.
He's doing a great job on defense today. Really, I mean,
it really worried me about the special teams. I mean
(22:44):
the kickoff we gave up some one long kickoff return,
one punt return I was very long. Obviously that changed
field positions, and obviously the moff mouff pump by Bandy
and and also the block field goal. And it's really
concerning me with Rizzy. I know he'll be here. I'm
hoping that he can make an adjustment to make these
you know, a lot cleaner and a lot more consistent,
(23:07):
because man, it's it could cost us a game and
luckily today our defense stepped up. And lastly, I want
to say, this is that Boone knicks man. He is
something else man. He had there were They threw up
a stat on Fox. I don't know if he saw that,
but they compared it to John Always two years our
(23:28):
first first Uh. I think it was the first twenty
three games, but I think he was like sixteen to
nine and had a little bit more passing yards of
John and had more rushing yards. And I'm just like, wow,
what a what a great time to be Broncos guy
we're witnessing. I'm not counting him to go to Denver yet,
but he's on a projectory of being the comeback king
of Denver because he is having comparable stats to Alway.
(23:50):
And he's definitely making me calm and fourth quarter because
when we had the quarterbacks those last ten years, I
was nervous as Hecker. I was like, are we gonna
win this? Are we win this?
Speaker 4 (23:58):
Now?
Speaker 6 (23:58):
I'm like I could sit back, drink at punkin Spicete,
enjoy the game and know that bon Nix is gonna
help us get that victory. Love your show, Ryan, have
a great week and we'll talk to you after the
Raiders game.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
All right, sounds good, Andrew, thank you so much. Enjoy
that Pso it's a victory PSL. Good stuff. Keenan chiming in.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
Here says Knicks was must replace level bad today. Have
to stop having these types of games.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Listen.
Speaker 6 (24:25):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
I don't think, as I said, I don't think Nicks
was great today, but he was enough, and.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
We can get into the finer discussion of what you
ultimately need out of a high level quarterback, but in
the end, you need to find ways to win, and
I take the win over the theoretical of, well we
just got to find somebody better makes.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
No sense to me.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
They said everybody will pay in a different picture with
what they saw from the Broncos today. What I saw
was a team that hung in there and had an
internal belief, and he made some high end throws when he.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Absolutely had to have them. There's also a lot.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
Of missing there, but I'm not about to sit here
and say we got to replace Poe Nicks.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
That's that's obnoxious to me. Sorry, Heenan. I appreciate it though.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
Otherwise, Ryan always loved listening to Broncos fans calling, in speaking,
texting through orange colored glasses. Okay, yes we are six
and two, actually we're seven and two now. Yes we won,
but this team once again had bad play calling and
inconsistent play from right handed Tebow. I am one of
those who doesn't mean that as a kind of comparison.
(25:37):
We beat a good defense, but an offense down their quarterback.
Let's see what happens when they play KC or meet
Buffalo in the playoffs. I'm as big a Broncos fan
as anyone, but I see this team for the flaws
they have, starting with Sean Payton and ending with Sean Payton.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
Sorry for the long text, Pat.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
Well, like I said, you know, you can kind of
feel however you really want to.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
I will take the dub.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
I will take the seven and two team, and I
don't see him as right handed Tebow.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
I think that that is uh.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
I mean, it's an insulting but again, that's that's where
you come down on it.
Speaker 2 (26:10):
You beat a good team.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
You know what, one thing that's a little obnoxious to
me is the constant moving of the goalposts. You know,
it's not enough to win a certain game. Like we
go back and we take a look at the last
few games, for example, right, and you found a way
to come back and beat well' say, let's start with Cincinnati. Kay,
you won that game. Handle, that was Cincinnati, Cincinnatis terrible.
(26:33):
All right, Fine, you get to Philadelphia. You came back
to score eighteen points in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Nah, that's all right.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
He was a little fluky. Philadelphia is not all that good. Okay,
Let's see how they do it the next week. Well, then,
you know, you have a pretty ugly game, but you
find a way in London to beat the Jets. That's
the Jets. Nobody cares about them because they're terrible. Constantly
moving the goalposts. They get the Giants a thirty three
thirty three point fourth quarter come back. Yeah, no, that's
(26:58):
not good enough because the Giants aren't very good. Okay, Well,
let's see what they can do against Dallas. We move
the goalposts again. They blow out the Cowboys. Now, let's
see what they can do against a good defense. They
beat the good defense. It's never gonna be good enough.
And that's okay, that's fandom for you. Yeah, they don't
(27:19):
win against the Raiders by enough points, it will be
not enough. Then it doesn't have to be I guess
you get to choose. I'm not gonna tell you how
to fan. You get to choose how you fan. And
if you want to go week to week with this
thing and say I'll see it when I see it, okay,
(27:42):
I don't know what other choice you have. Sean Payton
is going to be here as they continue to win,
he will be here, But Knicks will also be here
as they continue to win. This is the construction of
the team, and they have an internal belief and a
vision of how they can win games consistently. What they
did today, would that beat the best teams in the league. No,
(28:03):
but you didn't have to beat the best teams in
the league. That's what I keep saying. So move the
goalposts all you want. Ben moves the goal post often
when it comes to what he thinks of the Broncos.
He said, if they find a way to win this
game against one of the best defenses in the league,
he's gonna change his tune, but you saw him tweeting
during the course of the game, like many people, pointing
(28:24):
out all the flaws of the team.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
What did that get you? A DUB.
Speaker 3 (28:33):

Still looking to give away those fifty dollars gift cards
to Sam's Number three Diner and Bar, presenting sponsor of
Denver Defense three and outs. Broncos React gives away three
fifty dollars gift cards every week to listeners in Denver
and Boulder, but plenty of opportunity to do that coming
up here. In just a matter of moments, we'll get
(29:16):
to a scoreboard check. We are still just starting the
third quarter with the Chiefs have the ball, Bill's leading
twenty one to thirteen. The Rams just scored a touchdown,
the second touchdown of the day for Devonte Adams. Matthew
Stafford's on a tear man two hundred and sixty eight
passing or four passing touchdowns twenty seven to ten over
the Saints, and the Raiders with a nine to six
(29:37):
lead over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but Jacksonville is driving late
portions of the third quarter. Back to the phones, we
go and Dalton what's up next to Broncos react?
Speaker 2 (29:47):
What's up? Dalton?
Speaker 4 (29:49):
How's it going?
Speaker 9 (29:50):
Ryan?
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Good? Thanks for hanging on man, I appreciate it. Oh good.
Speaker 7 (29:54):
It sounds like there's been a lot of negativity on
the line tonight. I'm gonna go the opposite direction. I'm
just happy this team has learned how to win some
close games. I mean, the season could be completely different
if thanks hadn't fallowed the way they have and some
good fourth quarter comebacks. My question for you, I wasn't
able to watch any of the game. I was busy,
(30:15):
But how the defense look without Patzertan, are they gonna
be able to hold up when they get against some
better competition coming up? Thanks for everything you do.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
Yeah, thank you, man, I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
I mean that there are some moments right and they
were going after Chris Abrams Drain and I'd say that
if it was a little bit higher level quarterback play
than Davis Mills, it could have been a bit of
an issue today. But once again, that's the team you're playing, right,
the team that's in front, and that's all you really
can do. So you know, there is there's some success
with with Nikl Collins. He's a good, good receiver at
(30:46):
seven catches for seventy five yards. It's also Turrit eleven times,
and there's some really good pvus in there. I'm still
I'm not down on Chris Abrams Rain. I think he's
doing a good job. I think Riley Moss is doing
a good job. You're just not going to be as
good without passer tan. But the expectation they didn't put
him on IR. They had the opportunity too, they did not,
And we talked to him this week on KWI Sports,
(31:07):
and he's doing all the.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Rehab he needs to do.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
My guess, and again it is purely a guess, is
that he's going to be back in time following the
bye that you're gonna go ahead and let this thing play.
Now there's a possibility, I guess if he's feeling ready
to go against the Chiefs, then maybe that's an option
for you. You didn't place him on IR, after all,
don't expect him this week against the Raiders, But then
you're gonna have another ten days after that, so you
have two weeks until that Chiefs game, So we'll see.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
That's kind of right in the edge of that window.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
And then if it's not available then and I would
guess that the Broncos would take the cautionary route here.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
They let him rest through the bye week.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
And then be available for Washington, which is why you
didn't put him on IR in the first place. Broncos
Scott's is up next out of Aurora. What's up, Bronco Scott?
Speaker 9 (31:52):
How are you doing?
Speaker 6 (31:52):
Ryan?
Speaker 2 (31:53):
I'm great, man, How are you.
Speaker 6 (31:56):
Doing great? He it felt like nineteen eighty five instead
of twenty twenty five.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
Huh A little bit right, I mean there's like I said,
there's a little bit of a throwback.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
These are two really good defenses.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
It was a smashmuth game in a lot of ways,
and that really didn't surprise me. It really was very
little about today's game that ultimately surprised me, including by
the way, unfortunately a Michael Bandy muffed punt. I did
wonder about that during one of the shows this week, saying, well,
without Marvin Mims, you just hope there's not some kind
of catastrophic muffed punt from your punt returner, but you
(32:29):
know you hate those ones. But everything else, I thought
it was pretty pretty spot on.
Speaker 6 (32:33):
Well, Dan Reeves used to just keep it close until
a couple of minutes left and let Elway win it,
so I think Hayton is doing the same thing.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
It feels like that again.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
People are kind of grousing a little bit about Sean
Payton's play calling. I mean, I think it's an EBB
and flow kind of thing. It's a feel thing. I
had to go back and look at it to decide.
But ultimately, like I said, I felt like you were
gonna be a little more horizontal in this than I
think a lot of Broncos fans want to see.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
I did think they got away from JK.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
Dobbins, maybe a little earlier than I'd like to see,
but you know, once again, they made the calls and
the plays when they need to in the fourth quarter,
and that's what we roll with.
Speaker 6 (33:13):
Hey, a win is a win.
Speaker 7 (33:14):
Yeah, go to Broncos.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
Hey, Bronco, Scott real quick. Hey, would you have you
ever been to SAMs nor with three Diner and Bar? No, okay,
I'd like to send you there with a fifty dollars
gift card.
Speaker 6 (33:27):
Oh awesome, Yeah, thank you, Ryan.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Yes, hang on the line, and my guy Zach c Yeah,
I appreciate you, man, Thank you.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
Yeah, Zach Seger is going to talk to you here. Congratulations.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
You want a fifty dollars gift card to Sam's Number
three Diner and Bar, presenting sponsor of Denver Defense three
and out. So we have two more to give away
over the course of the afternoon. Pat in Arizona's up
next year on Broncos React.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
What's up? Pat?
Speaker 8 (33:47):
Hey, Brian, thank you a great show, great game. I
know what I hope they're all close like this. I
love that Giant game. That was fantastic. But I'm gonna
tell you something about Bonnick. How they talked about the
sophomore slump. Well, maybe he's just having it in quarters
and get to watch him figure out what to do
(34:09):
towards the end of the game. He used his legs. Man,
I kept yelling at the radio, going run, run, You're like,
run forst run, run boat run, And he did. And
you know a lot of people maybe having mentioned that
nine yards that he ended the game. He guys closer,
so guaranteed a pretty much a chip shot, you know,
(34:32):
field goal, and you know, and that guy there's nobody better,
and you know positive you know the defense, I mean,
I know we're missing our number one defender, but man,
the other guys, they really shut down a pretty good offense.
That guy came in the second string for Houston. I mean,
(34:53):
he it was sat pretty dark good.
Speaker 6 (34:56):
I mean, and.
Speaker 8 (34:57):
Uh, the offense, it struggled. But they want and here
I gotta say something this time makes me worry a
little bit. Is the special team coach when they're interviewing
Sean at the end of the game, he said, we
need to fix that or we're going to replace something.
(35:17):
And I think he's telling that coach you better get
this thing in order, you know, And I mean, you
can make enough mistakes. But I'll tell you special teams.
That's why it comes special. It's a special part of
the game. And he could really actually make you lose
a lot of games if you don't get that down.
How many block field goals have we had this year?
I think if I can remember right, at least two
(35:40):
block field goals that could have played better for us
in the eventual But I mean, you know, idea, all
the people just talk about, Oh man, why can't the
brocass more people over? I don't care about that. It's
the win, baby, win, win win. And thank you very
much for taking my call. And I appreciate everything. I'm from.
(36:02):
I'm living in Arizona by Macara boy and I bleed
orange when I when I do it, and I tell
you I love the game. Listening to you guys on
iHeart appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
Pat, thank you so much, man, I appreciate you calling in,
appreciate you listening. A couple of texts here, Hey Ryan,
what's up Matthew down in Castle Rock. My birthday was
last Saturday, and my son in law, my daughter, my
new granddaughter, my wife got me some great bow Nick's
hat and shirt signed by Bow and they actually say.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
Believe and now I do.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
Now wore it last Sunday against the Cowboys game, and
I wore it today. I believe in my shirt and hat. No,
I'm just getting go Bo. Go Broncos wins or win.
You take them where Broncos wins are win and you'll
take them however you get them. Well, happy birthday, blated
there for you, Matthew. Appreciate you listening. And yeah, we
always talk about the superstition stuff. I'm with it, but
(36:53):
again that's not not for everybody.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Glad we won.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
Can we can we game plan to give dob twenty carries?
Too many screens? Comment please?
Speaker 2 (37:02):
Yeah, I would give it to more. I'd give Dobbins
more carries now.
Speaker 3 (37:05):
I mean on the end he got fifteen carries for
sixty one, but you'd say any average four point one
per carry, I'd say five more carries for JK. Dobbins
would make sense to me, especially in a game you
knew was going to be close like this, And there
were times, like I said, I thought they got away
from it a little early. That's my take on it.
Bo Nix I also think there's some opportunities to run.
Now he did late, we're happy about that, but more
(37:27):
chances early on in the games. But he's shown the
ability to do that when you and you need him to.
So I'm not really too worried about it. But it's
just something where you'd like to see, Hey, if the
opportunity presents itself, Bo, just go ahead and take off
and get those yards.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
Let's see here they could have been. Let's hear Ryan.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
Defense is elite and offense play calling is deeply flawed,
and they showed no signs of improvement.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
Bo and Sean are not meshing.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
Is the fourth quarter a product of calling play Bos
prefers what Sean prefers. I don't know about not meshing.
There are some times where it doesn't feel like is
as clean as it could be. I'll give you that,
and you'd say this many games and right we're nine
games into the second season with those two it could
be a little cleaner.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
I'll give you that.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
I don't know about not meshing, but I don't want
to split hairs with you on that. The fourth quarter,
I think there's just more urgency. I think that they
play with the tempo they play with We've got to
have it now, and there's desperation there. And when you
play for desperation, good things can happen. Teams when they
play with desperation, bad things happen. But for the Broncos,
when they play with desperation, they tend to be very good.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
Maybe it's just as simple as that. I'm not sure.
It is my belief.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
The reason why the Broncos fans, analysis, etc. Keep moving
the goalpost is because they've been let down for ten
years and are surprised when we actually have a winning
culture in Denver.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Just my opinion. I think it's a spot on take.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
Legitimately, I do think that the sins of the past, right,
the ghosts of this team and the last decade, cloud
the judgment and the belief of the team. And once again,
I'll never tell you how to view this team. And
I'm not surprised that we have people saying that I
don't see it still, But I think you'd rather be
(39:15):
in this situation if you look deep inside at seven
and two, knowing that you can continue to work on
these things after wins. If we were calling in and
talking about a loss today, say they lose fifteen to seven, right,
they never get that second touchdown and it's just misery
in the second half. Well, then we'd be sitting here
going like, gosh, man, your defense only gave up fifteen
(39:36):
points and you played Davis Mills for most of this thing.
That would be miserable. And even then you'd still be
six and three with much of the season in front
of you, including a Raiders game that's eminently winnable on Thursday.
I think multiple things can be true. And like I said,
I'm never gonna tell you guys how you can or
can't feel about it. I'm just gonna tell you how
(39:59):
I'm coming from it. I do get a little bit
exhausted by the goalpost moving sometimes. Preacher Ryan love it
we are seven to two, dropped the mic on the haters.
I mean that's sort of like I just perspective. Perspective
is important a wan yogi. I am no fan of Peyton,
but Bo has grit and the will to win, and
when Peyton takes the handcuffs off as shows I do
(40:20):
want to see a change in special teams because Rizzy
is the reason why Mims wasn't out there today cost
us the Indie game nearly cost us Zach Allen.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
Today the almost cost us the game. Go Broncos and
go Bo. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
The special teams has had some more flaws this year
than I think we all would like to see, no
doubt about that, and.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
Today was tough. Today was tough with special.
Speaker 3 (40:39):
Teams seemingly every single week, except for say, last week,
maybe the Cincinnati game, but I'm trying to remember. But
specifically last week was their best week of the season.
But every other game it's there's been something that pops up.
But even last week, to win Yogi's point, you tried
to sub out Marvin Mims at the end and you
couldn't and then end up getting a cushion. Now you
(40:59):
can't play for those things. I'm not gonna hold Darren
Rizzy accountable for Marvin Mimms getting a cushion. That's kind
of what the game is. But let's get one more
call in before we take a break. Broncos sixty and Henderson,
you're up next year on Broncos react.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
What's up Broncos sixty.
Speaker 9 (41:13):
I'm letch where you're going.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
I'm great, man, Thanks for calling in.
Speaker 9 (41:16):
Okay, I've been with the Broncos in the first game,
so I kind of know what's going on with the Broncos.
I'm excited this year. Uh, they're doing a good and
a lot of callers want to change players or whatever.
I say, if it's not broke, don't fix it. I
just say that I think they're having a good year.
So that's all I gotta say.
Speaker 3 (41:36):
All right, I like that. Yeah, and and there is
nothing really ultimately broken about the team, relatively healthy, all
things considered. I mean, the interior of the offensive line's
got some depth stuff going on because of you're down
to your third maybe even fourth depending on how you
define it, left guard. But outside of that, I mean,
you're you know, you're gonna get Patzertann back here in
(41:57):
a couple of weeks. You're probably gonna hopefully again concussion
protocol and all. But we hopefully get Marvin Mims back
this week, maybe at need Atkins here in a couple weeks.
Really thought we'd get some kind of I don't know
how many snaps he played some Mercedes Lewis catch today.
I thought there'd be something drawn up for that, all right,
three out three seven, three eighty five, eighty five, five
six six nine zeros a KWA Commas Spirit Health text line.
(42:19):
A quick little NFL scoreboard check. The Jaguars just took
the lead thirteen to nine early portions of the fourth quarter.
The La Rams are driving. They're up twenty seven to ten.
I did see a report and put Nakou into the
locker room. I'll see if I can update that here
in a little bit. Bills up twenty one thirteen with
a thirty eight remaining in the third quarter.
Speaker 2 (42:38):
Big game here in the AFC West. We'll come back
on the other side.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
Still have two more of those gift cards, so Sam's
number three diner and bar to give away. You're listening
to Broncos React on the KWA Broncos Radio network
