Speaker 1 (00:00):
Live from King Supers On Colorado and Yale un till
nine pm. It's the fifth annue Old KOA Hotiday Food
Drive benefiting Food Bank of the Rockies, presented.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
My Redbird Farms and Colorado Buick GMC Dealers. Here's KOA Sports.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Hi, Welcome back.

Speaker 4 (00:24):
Just after five o'clock, Whine Edwards, Nick Ferguson, As we
are live here on KOA until nine o'clock King Supers
On Colorado at Yale helping those in need with Ko's
Holiday Food Drive.

Speaker 5 (00:34):
Been doing this for years out here at Colorado and
Yale at King Supers and we really love it. Been
meeting a lot of listeners, a lot of Broncos fans
coming by talking to us during the breaks, and you know,
we're taking some pictures. Nick Ferguson out here dressed to impress,
wearing his Broncos hat.

Speaker 6 (00:50):
Well, I would say dressed to impress. It's more or
less dressed for the lovely Denver weather.

Speaker 5 (00:56):
Yeah, you do look like you're dressed for and you
did a good job coordinating the shoes with the hat,
which you always focus on. People don't talk about that enough.
But if you ever meet Nick Ferguson, look at the shoes,
look at the hat, and then you're gonna know what
his mindset was. You think I don't notice these things, Well.

Speaker 6 (01:12):
I do know, Ryan, that you have started to pay
more attention.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
From day one, oh day one really, because you notice
when somebody puts that kind of attention into it.

Speaker 6 (01:23):
Well, it's not like I'm putting that much attention into it.
I just go into my closet and I figure, Okay, well,
this is the hat I'm going to win.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Yeah, and now I'm gonna go find the shoes that
match that hat.

Speaker 6 (01:33):
Well, I don't even have to search that far because
you know, my closet is kind of color coordinated. I'm
kind of anal in that particular way.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
You don't say yes.

Speaker 6 (01:43):
With the smile as you say that with a smile
on your face. Yes, I am, And that's way too exactly.
But that's how I know if someone went into my
closet and moved something, Yes, and I don't like people
going in my closet.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
I would never And you never never touched another man's closet.

Speaker 6 (02:01):
No, No, you don't.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Right's lawn? Well no, you cannot you why not?

Speaker 6 (02:08):
What what if you have a neighbor who is a veteran,
he's disabled and he can't mow his lawn. So you're saying, well,
because from one man to the other, I can't mow
your lawn, sir, I'm sorry. But but if if if
you were a man instead of.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
A s you gotta ask, you gotta ask, you know,
you don't just do it.

Speaker 6 (02:27):
You can't. Like if I if I know if my lawn,
I know, listen, if I notice my neighbor like circumstances
are you check in with him, right, But if I
know that he's shrugging, he can't do and his his
his weeds are getting really too high.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
I'm referencing a movie, by the way, which is depressing
that you don't even know the reference that I'm making.
I don't you're seeing Kingpin, not in this entirety.

Speaker 6 (02:52):
O god, So that's that's that's that's.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Probably got So I made the reference and that you're like.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
Actually, let me explain, and I'm like, no, I don't
think you understand because the reference actually isn't even about
Bowie lauds.

Speaker 6 (03:04):
Yes, yes, yes, but now even though I haven't seen
this an entirety and I haven't seen that scene, I
know what you're talking about. Yes, I know what you're
talking about, all right, Yes, well, anyways.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Come down say hi to us.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
Donate Turkey's food or cash into our QR code is
presented by Redbird Farms and their generous donation of four
thousand pounds of chicken breads and Colorado.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Buick GMC dealers.

Speaker 5 (03:26):
Visit your local GMC dealer for the full Sierra Family lineup.
Five six, six nine zero is our Ka Commas Spirit
Health text line. I do want to come back to
the Brenda Cooks thing, though, what would give that a beat?
I want to come back to it maybe a little
after five o'clock because there's some other angles that you
and I were arguing about our discussing in the breaks.
We'll come back to that a little after five o'clock.
Will left wins AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

(03:47):
Jake Quan McMillan absolutely robbed. Did not win AFCA Defensive
Player of the Week, which is just absurd.

Speaker 6 (03:54):
You know what that speaks.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
Jordan Brooks with the Dolphins did win it. Listen, I'm
not saying you don't have a good game, but come on, man,
your two sacks, six tackles, An interception that is just ugeous.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
It's uh, it's blasphemous. It just kind of speaks to
the lack of respect that is given to the Denver
Broncos from a national stand for real, and it's as
a former defensive guy. It pisses me off because I
go back to when Johnny barn was drafted and automatically

(04:27):
there there were whispers rumbles from Broncos country. Not a
lot of them, but but some people where they were
trying to push Ja Kwan out of the starting lineup
in his position as being one arguably one of the
top nichols uh in the league. But I even spoke
to him during training camp and I told him, I said, look, man,

(04:50):
this may not mean anything to you, but I've been
in your shoes where you are and someone gets drafted
at your spot and everyone's thinking that, okay, well we're
gonna write you out. I know that you're a dog,
and I know you you can grind, so I'm gonna
let you do what you do. But I just want,
from one player to another, real recognize real and to
go out there and watch him play the way that

(05:12):
he does. It reminds me of a guy who I
coached in San Francisco Kawan Williams who was here. But
Kawan didn't really play a lot because of his injuries.
But when you look at Ja Kwan, he has those
same type of skill sets like a dog. Yeah right,
not the dogs dogs in there. I mean you dog

(05:35):
rather than cat? Are you a cat person? I'm not
saying that there's anything wrong with it.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Hold on like there's an implication there? No, can I
just like all animals.

Speaker 6 (05:44):
I just asked dogs and cats. I mean, if you
had to choose, which one would you choose?

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Well, it's easy, that's no, it's not. I feel like
this is a trap.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
I could pull anyone coming in this King Supers and
ask them if you had to choose between the dog
and the cat, which would you choose?

Speaker 3 (06:01):
And I'm not answering that you're gonna.

Speaker 6 (06:03):
Have me do that.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Excuse me, man, to implicate. Excuse me, ma'am. She's busy people,
these people, they have their lives. Let let let him go.

Speaker 6 (06:10):
I just want to ask her answer the question. It's
just excuse me, man, I got a question for you.
If you had to chunes between a dog and a cat,
which animal would you choose?

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Two cats? And two dogs equal share is totally appropriate.

Speaker 6 (06:26):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
I just said that.

Speaker 6 (06:27):
No you did not, That's exactly what I said. You
said that you feel as though there's something hiding behind
my question, like alluding to something, and I wasn't. It's
just it's just a question. But I want a team
for the dogs though.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Not a tea full of cats.

Speaker 6 (06:44):
No, no, there you go.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
So I'm right. Well, you know you don't want a
tea full of cats. You want team full of dogs.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
Who wants a team full of cats? Have you seen cats?

Speaker 3 (06:54):
I don't don't mess what cats?

Speaker 6 (06:56):
Have you seen better? Vicious? Will you have a Savannah cat?
Because that's the only.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Cat we rescued, a feral cat. Oh, I'm just gonna
let you know.

Speaker 6 (07:07):
See that cat has some issues coming in.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
That cat on the streets street, yes, a street cat, Yes,
it's yeah.

Speaker 6 (07:15):
You gotta be careful, man. You don't know what neckrod was.
That cat came from a drama looking looking forward to
do that. Does that cat knows pops? Right? You know
that that cat having issues coming into your crib, right,
I'm just saying now, no, no, no, their pops and
they scratching your sofa like hold on, man, what you're doing?

(07:35):
I rescued you. What do you now? You have to
put them back outside? That's all I'm saying. You want dogs,
you want dogs, You want dogs.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
Dogs are a lot of work, though.

Speaker 6 (07:44):
But they protect.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Though they do. Dogs protect they're going on a football field.

Speaker 6 (07:49):
The dogs alert you of dangers. Cats, No, they come
upon someone breaks in your house.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
There just gonna the cat's taking you.

Speaker 6 (07:56):
Right where the snacks are, right, the dogs trying to
the dogs, gonna give his life for his owner.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
I'd like to think, well, you.

Speaker 6 (08:04):
Know, yeah, I like to think, no, those cats not no.

Speaker 5 (08:08):
All right, we we gotta take a big break. I
do want to talk a little bit more about defensive
bout advance. Joseph on a podcast with Peter Frigger actually
kind of made a reference to Jeanne Baron is an
outside corner, and I thought that was kind of interesting
since we've been talking a lot about him.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
As a nickel in the NFL. So I want to
talk to you about that. Coming up here.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Live from King Supers on Colorado and Yale till nine pm.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
It's the fifth annuel Koa holiday food drive benefiting Food
Bank of the Rockies.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Here's KOA Sports.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
All right, welcome back.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
We are live here at King Supers at Colorado and
Yale for our annual holiday food drive benefiting Food Bank
of the Rockies. Come on down, say high to us,
meaning all sorts of Broncos fans, meaning all sorts of
listeners to the station right over there, right there, say
and all of that. Thank you so much for your donation.
Really appreciate that we're going to have Robby Bean joining
us here in about ten minutes. Get her thoughts on

(09:07):
Shador Sanders starting in his first NFL game, future of
the CEU football program.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Also, she got a shout out on.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
Bronco's react the other night, so I want to get
her thoughts on that, because that was pretty funny. But
five six six nights Zeros or Kae Commas beerd health
text line. If you want to interact with anything we said,
I do want to get into us some special teams
conversation here in just a little bit. But vance Joseph
on the podcast with Peter Schreger. Thank you again on
the podcast with Peter Schrager.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
He said and.

Speaker 5 (09:33):
Intimated that a long term role, potentially for be Jane
Baron could be as an outside corner. Now, of course,
Broncos fans when he was drafted in the first round
immediately said, well, this is what he's got to be.
You don't draft the first round and cornerback unless he's
an outside corner, and I disagree with that.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
I think the nickel position has become a.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
Much more valuable one, and I think the versatility of
being able to do.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Both also has a lot of value.

Speaker 5 (09:57):
So I liked him initially as a guy that could
fill in as a slot or as a nickel, but
then potential to be an outside guy if you needed
him too, because he's done both. He's done it all.
In fact, he's even played some safety linebacker at different points.
He was the star down there at Texas, So I
like his versatility. I don't think you should ever have

(10:18):
to necessarily pigeonhole him there. But in your opinion, is
that a long term view or prospect for what Jade
Baron should be.

Speaker 6 (10:26):
Absolutely, and the idea is to try to bring young
guys along slowly. Sometimes fans whether it's is in this
case we're talking about the DV even with quarterbacks, ideas like, well,
you draft him in the first round, stick them out
there that this isn't my fire, and I'm like, well,
you have to be really careful about that, because if

(10:47):
you do, you can break a guy's confidence. And you
don't have to be a football player to understand is
when your confidence is wrecked, it makes it really difficult
for you to bounce back can do whatever it is
that you're trying to achieve and accomplish. But I think
the Broncos have done it the right way bringing him
along and ideas that if Johday made big enough strides

(11:12):
where you say, okay, well you want to put him
in over Jakwan, that would have happened, but that would
only make Jakwan McMillan play even better, which builds competition,
which is why we're seeing the Broncos from a secondary
standpoint with no ps two still play great defense Raleigh Moss,
Chris Abrams Drain and also seeing Johnny Barron go out

(11:34):
there and play the corner position, and all these reps
Ryan are going to prove to be very beneficial for
this team moving forward in this season and years to come.
So I loved everything that I've seen from Johnny Barron
and then being able to use him against Travis Kelcey
last game to me, that was phenomenal. And also, let

(11:57):
let's go back to confidence Dallas Cowboys. Dak Prescott is trying.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
To throw the ball to Jake Ferguson, who.

Speaker 6 (12:04):
Ends up with the interception? Did J D. Bammer the
same thing happened with Roley Moss when he got an interception.
That that that tells players that you know what I
know what people say about my ability, but now I
know it on this level. And I'll take you back
for just a second. And this has to say something
for those dbs drafted out of Texas, because remember when

(12:28):
kayten Stearns came in on the VIC Fangio, he was
thrown into the fire and he could play a multitude
of different positions. So whatever they're doing down in Texas,
they're doing a great job with their dbs.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
One hundred percent with you on that, let me ask
you this, and I I'm not necessarily advocating for it,
but I'm just asking you the question because I get
a lot of it on Broncos React. Ridley Moss's is
a very controversial player for some reason, very polarizing right now.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
And I'm not in the mindset I think he's actually
a very good corner back.

Speaker 5 (13:00):
I'm not the mindset of benching him, but I've also
liked what I've seen from Chrish Eber and Train a lot.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
Would you consider a rotation.

Speaker 6 (13:08):
The rotation like when PS two comes.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Back, Yes, no, No, you just say we're back to
what we've been.

Speaker 6 (13:17):
It is what it is, we are where we are.
And Chris Abrams Drain, even though he's played well since
PS two has been out, it's not he didn't jump
several levels where you say, okay, well, we have no
choice but to make this switch. Because Chris Abrams Drain

(13:38):
was in last game right against the Raiders. This game
we saw more of who, we saw more of Johnny Barons.
So if they thought that Chris Abrams Drains made that
large of elite, they wouldn't have put to Johnny Baron
in it. But I understand it. Jar Dat's playing well
and he's a first round pick. You want to get
him some more reps against some more of the premieres

(14:01):
star wide receivers. So I understand it. But it's not
a shot at any of those guys. I think they
all do a heck of a job. And when he
comes to Raleigh mosson. I know he's been criticized a lot.
There's certain things that I would try to correct about
roleygh Moss's game, and it's happened to all of us.
I've seen it happen to Champ losing on the speed

(14:22):
released at the line of Scrimbridge. They're good in this league.
They're gonna get you at some point, but the biggest
thing is what you do down the field on the
top of the route. And sometimes he has a tendency
to panic.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Romy Bean joins us next on KOA.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Live from King Supers on Colorado and Yale till nine pm.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
It's the fifth annual KOA Holiday Food Drive benefiting Food
Bank of the Rockies.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Here's KOA Sports.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
All right, welcome back.

Speaker 5 (14:53):
We are live here at Colorado and Yale King Supers
for the kwa's annual holiday food drive benefiting Food Bank
of the Rockies. Boy, it's been a lot of fun
getting to meet a lot of KOA listeners, a lot
of Broncos fans, talking a lot about the Broncos games
and Broncos react, which has been a lot of fun
and in fact reminds me of my next guest, is
we had us to the KOA Common Spirit Health hotline

(15:16):
and bring on the one and only Roby Bean Rome
underscore Bean on Twitter from CBS four. Robie got a
really special shout out during Broncos React on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Nights, as Skillett called in.

Speaker 5 (15:28):
And invited her along with the KOA staff to Las
Vegas for the Super Bowl.

Speaker 7 (15:32):
Hi Roby, Hi, thanks for having me at Yeah, you
know what I mean. I was really honored best post
in show in Colorado's if you're not listening to what
are you doing when I'm driving home? I love listening
in on the way back when I head back to
the station to get ready for the kind of the
rest of the day, And did not expect I just
you know, I love Ryan's insight and I got a
little shout out from Skillet, so I was like, all right,

(15:55):
all right, day made Broncos beat the Chiefs and I
got a shout out from Skillett on Ryan's show. Fell
pretty good. Not gonna lie.

Speaker 5 (16:02):
It was very cool, and I appreciate that you texted
right away to let me know that that you're you're
in for the roadie, that that's gonna be a lot
of fun. I mean, I imagine again, you know, the
broadcast crew, you as well. I don't think your bosses
would be thrilled if you're in Las Vegas while the
Broncos are in Santa Clara.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
But I like the idea.

Speaker 7 (16:21):
You know what, you know what, see what happens right?

Speaker 3 (16:23):
Life short? Right?

Speaker 5 (16:27):
Yeah, ask for forgive this. Ben Albright a mutual friend
of ours. That's that's his role. He tends to do
that sort of thing. So you mentioned that the Chiefs win,
and and yeah, I mean it really was does this legitimize?
Did they need this to legitimize what they're doing this season?

Speaker 7 (16:43):
You know, I think that they did, and I think
internally it doesn't necessarily change maybe the belief that they've
had all along, but I think it also does. I
think it affirmed to them everything that they knew, everything
that they thought they were and said that they were.
And this was another step along the way. Like if
you're going to do what this team has aspirations of,

(17:04):
which is Super Bowl, you got to beat the Chiefs.
You gotta beat the Chargers down the stretch too. We
can talk about that. Right Toehn Payton, one thing he
done to beat John Harbot one thing at a time.
I think beating the Chiefs was really significant, and beating
him in a fashion where it was a tight game.
You knew it was going to be a tight game,
but you walked away and you were like, oh, got
away with one there. It's not like, no, you went
out there, did what you were supposed to do without

(17:26):
the reigning defensive player of the year, without Alex Singleton.

Speaker 6 (17:29):
Without JK.

Speaker 7 (17:29):
Dobbins, and you were able to walk away with a win.
And I don't even really care what the Chiefs record
is right now. The Chiefs are always a threat. So
to me, this did feel significant. If you're going in
the direction that you want to go for now and really,
you know, kind of for the future of the division.
You had to have this one now, beating both teams
that were in last year Super Bowl, and so it

(17:50):
reaffirms to everyone inside that building we are exactly who
we think we are.

Speaker 6 (17:56):
Well, Rommie, we just got a chance to see a
seventy retre by Marvin Mahams and your estimation and evaluation,
how valuable do you feel as though he is to
this team overall?

Speaker 3 (18:10):
So valuable?

Speaker 7 (18:11):
I feel like I spent half my life founding the
table like more ma please, But obviously his impact on
special teams it is absolutely tremendous and all you have
to see it is by the first time that he
gets the balls and the ball in his hands, you know,
that's what he does. And he had another big, huge
run as well. I still would really like to see
Marv involved more in the offensive game plan, and you know,

(18:34):
I think he has the ability to be that big
downfield threat take the top off.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
You know.

Speaker 7 (18:39):
I don't know if it's you want to keep him
primarily the special teams because he is so dynamic on
special teams, but I still would love this many years
in to see him be a bigger part of the
offensive game plan as well.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
No doubt about it.

Speaker 5 (18:54):
Romy Bean joining us here, We're talking about it earlier,
and I was excited to have you on for a
multi reasons. But Shore Sanders is making his debut. Of course,
you've been covering very closely see you now for quite
some time. What are your hopes or expectations in this
first game for the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 7 (19:11):
Yeah, you know, I'm looking forward to seeing how he
does in his first full start. We all know when
a guy comes in, you know, halfway through it. It's
never going to be an ideal situation. And if you've
got a game plan built around Dylan Gabriel, I'm not
going to suit Shanora all that well or two entirely
different quarterbacks. So I think you take it all with
a little bit of a great assault. It's a bad situation.

(19:32):
It's a bad Brown team, but they're playing a bad
Raiders team. So I think that this is an opportunity
for hopefully Kevin Stefenski to kind of make the game
plan around Shdor first and foremost, so to have an
opportunity for him to go out there and have the
game plan suit his strength to what he does best.
Is I think he'll be I'm looking forward to it.

(19:53):
I think that we're going to get the full or experience.
I think he'll probably hold on to the ball too long,
and Max Crosby is going to welcome to the NFL.

Speaker 6 (20:00):
Well.

Speaker 7 (20:00):
I think maybe he'll, you know, throw a few picks,
but I think he's gonna throw. He's also going to
be able to lead that offense, and he's gonna leave
him down the field and he's gonna get him in
the end zone a few times and I think that
it's just going to be nice to see how Sedor
starts transitioning into the NFL, because we haven't had an opportunity.

Speaker 6 (20:16):
To see it.

Speaker 7 (20:17):
Now we get it the full week, you get to
work with the team. And one thing about your door
is that you know, you know he'll be ready. You know,
people have a lot of opinions about your door. But
he will be ready, He'll be prepared, he'll be ready
to go, and hopefully the game plan suits him. But
I'm looking forward to seeing how he leads that team.
And again, you're playing a bad Raiders team. It's not
a bad situation for your first start.

Speaker 6 (20:38):
Romie, how would you explain to someone who doesn't live
in the metro Denver area when you're trying to break
down kind of the sports scene here, because when you
think about the Abs, you think about the Nuggets, and
you think about the Denver Broncos and where they are
this at this point in the season, how would you
kind of explain that to someone who has no idea

(20:59):
what the sport scenes is like here in Denver?

Speaker 7 (21:02):
You know what, it's tremendous. I think it's I think
people it's undervalued, baby people don't understand how great of
a sports town Denver is, how great of a sports
state Colorado is really is, And what do you need
time to have three teams doing so well. I think
even people here kind of in the Denver area are

(21:24):
like waiting for the other shoot a job, like somebody's
somebody's gonna have to mess up, right, we're not. I
can't think of a time when all three have been
doing so well and are legitimate, you know, title contenders,
and you're legitimately kind of talking about, Hey, could you
have three threes? You could have three barades. It's just fun.
It's just energetic. Jared Bednar talked about it the other day.

(21:44):
I posted it and he just kind of had a
great response, and I love that. He also said, though,
this is a football town, and I've always felt that way,
and that's no shot at the Nuggets of the Abs,
because the city rallies around them and it's so fun
to see them doing well. But when the Broncos are
doing well, this that he just just lights up. It's
just something different. The Broncos are such a deep, you know,

(22:05):
like piece of the fabric of Denver, and so it's
just a really, really fun time. And most of all,
as you guys know, sports are changing so fast. I
just tell people, treasure it. Just treasure it. Treasure Nicola
Yokajerra treasured the Nathan McKinnon era, and treasure what we
got going on with the Broncos right now, because you
never know, you could change tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (22:25):
Completely agree, romy Bean, joining us last couple here before.
You always appreciate the time. One team unfortunately not doing
all that great unfortunately is his CEU, and I think
we all realistically expected maybe a bit of a step back.
And I'm not even really all that down on it,
but I do wonder and I want to ask you

(22:47):
about what our expectations should be for next year.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
And I know this season is still playing.

Speaker 5 (22:52):
Out, but as we sit here today, there are a
lot of people going, all right, well, hey, no Shore Sanders,
no Travis Hunter. Yeah, okay, fine, step back, but in
you get a reset now next year, it feels like
we're going to have much higher expectations. What are your
expectations for next year for Coach Prime?

Speaker 7 (23:09):
I completely agree, Ryan, I think all right, this wasn't
off year, and Coach Prime has acknowledged several times they
missed on a couple of players within recruiting, So there's
been some staffing, you know, changes that he's going to make,
and I think everyone's kind of at the point where,
all right, you can you learn from your mistakes. This
year there was a couple of guys that I brought

(23:30):
in that were who they thought they were. So my
expectation is as you go on the next recruiting trail,
you're doing the work, the research that you didn't do
this time around to make sure you're bringing in the
right guys. And you know, as far as staff, you
got to make sure that you're bringing in the right guys.
There's been a lot of trial and error with Prime staff.
I mean you even look offensively how many coordinators he's

(23:51):
gone through. And I think part of that is that,
you know, Prime was never a had or was never
didn't work his way up the coaching system, so a
lot of these guys advanced justin for example, when he
gets his next chance, he's got every position group what
probably three or four guys deep that he'd like as
his This coach and this coach and this coach and
this coach.

Speaker 6 (24:10):
Coach.

Speaker 7 (24:10):
Prim came into it and he went straight into a
head coaching role. So a lot of his guys were
either guys he played with, guys he knew, or guys
that are referred to him like a Robert Livingston and
so going you know, that makes for why I think
there's been a lot of trial and error. So you're
gonna have to rely on the same kind of I
guess people that he's known. But I hope he's looking
around and looking around at other guys in the college

(24:31):
game that might be a good fit when he looks
to bring in some different guys. And so, you know,
there's a lot, there's a lot. There's a lot that
has to be done. But this year college football moves
so fast, and you got to learn from those mistakes
and take a step up. And you hope Juju stays.
I have no information either way. Operating under the presumption

(24:51):
that he is going to stay. Then now you have
really a solid quarterback to build around, and then there's
no excuse.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
Yeah, that was the.

Speaker 5 (24:59):
Last point I wanted to make here is about Juju Lewis,
because it does feel like if you if you got
the quarterback, what a what a carrot to put out there.
As far as a recruiting standpoint from Coach Prime, and
of course he's shown the ability to be one of
the best recruiters in the country. So it feels like
this little run here for Juju is really key to

(25:19):
this entire puzzle on what we can expect next year.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
You agree, oh.

Speaker 7 (25:22):
One hundred percent. I mean, in the next two games,
you're not playing for a ball, but you're playing for Juju.
And what do you see from him and the growth
you see from him? And I mean the energy I
felt in West Virginia was so different than I had
seen from this entire team the entire year. It felt
like they were playing behind somebody that Okay, yeah, this
kid's got it, so you can really showcase Juju the
next two games. I think that's tremendous for who you're

(25:45):
recruiting in the offseason.

Speaker 5 (25:48):
Romey or a rock star. We appreciate you so much,
Thank you so much for the time tonight.

Speaker 7 (25:52):
You guys are the best. I always the honor to
come on.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
We appreciate you, all right, the best roby being from
CBS four at Romey underscore being and yeah, we'll just
ask for forgiveness. We'll be all out in Vegas, go
to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
But I tell you why.

Speaker 5 (26:07):
I mean that that concept again, it feels like a
bit of a fever dream and it's it really shouldn't
be because you're the one seed going into Week twelve
of the NFL season, So maybe there's some reality check
that needs to be there. I mean, you have an
unbelievable home field advantage. You're showing that every single week

(26:29):
you're undefeated at home. And there isn't a single team
in the AFC as I sit here today that I
am panicked about if they have to come to Never
and if you have home field throughout, if you have
the first seed, you get a buy and you have
an opportunity to host with this defense, that that's more

(26:50):
of a real reality.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
I think then we're probably limit letting on here.

Speaker 6 (26:54):
I'm glad that you kind of led with that that
last part, or are yet you ended with one of
the best parts. I love that. I love that, Brian.
So I'm gonna pick it up right where you've left
off and yes and say that yes you put you
put it down, I'm gonna pick it up. Yes. The

(27:15):
having the Broncos defense, it gives you a leg up.
It also gives coach Payton an opportunity to do things
in a game plan that he wouldn't ordinarily do because
you can always rely on that defense to shut the door.
But you bring up something that that's that's key being
able to win the games that you're supposed to win
at home. Now, the Broncos are, I believe, are three

(27:36):
and two on the road, but when you play in
front of your home crowd, you want to make sure
that you defend your home turf. So any team coming in,
I don't care who it is, they have that in
the back of their mind. You you add home home
game record, the ability to win and close games in
the fourth quarter, and then you have a top notch
defense that's terrifying to a lot of teams. Now, I

(27:59):
don't I want say that I'm paniced. There's no one
else in the AFC that would happen me to be panic.
But there are some other teams that are out there
that I'm like, Okay, well they will make it a game.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
Oh yeah, right.

Speaker 6 (28:13):
Once again, I look at the Coats, they will make
it a game. Drake May and what raybel was doing
with the Patriots, they would without a doubt making a game.
And there's one team that I think none of us
thought that they would be at this particular point based
on how they start off the season. It's the Baltimore Ravens. Yeah,
that's another team that I feel that they would make
it a game. But at the same time, because I

(28:34):
have a lot of faith advanced Joseph and the defensive players,
I still think there's not a team out there that
the Broncos can't be.

Speaker 5 (28:42):
So it was an interesting conversation on PCI and that
they were talking about sort of the new AFC versus
sort of the mainstays of the AFC, and I thought
this was such an interesting that they asked Booger McFarlane
and Grant. I don't know if you out that ready,
but they asked Booger McFarland about about that, Like, if

(29:04):
you had to choose between the Broncos, Colts and Patriots
or the Ravens, Chiefs and Bills, which side of this
would you choose will come out victorious on the other
side of the AFC playoffs?

Speaker 3 (29:19):
And here's what he said, I'm going on the side
of the Broncos.

Speaker 8 (29:22):
Okay, Like the hardest thing for us to do is
let go of the past, Like that's the hardest thing
for us to do, like like like we are we
are creatures that we loved, like nostalgia, like we cant
like like it's it was hard for you. I remember
when you were like super fat, Like I remember that seriously.

Speaker 6 (29:42):
Like I was heavier.

Speaker 8 (29:44):
Yeah, right, I remember when you were super fat. Like
those habits that got you super fat hard, hard to
let go theft. I remember when you used to ride
the bike religiously. Yeah, that habit it's gone, Like it's
hard to let go. So like, oh, old habits die
really really hard. And I think we think about the Ravens,
the chief and the Bills. Yes, the best teams, no

(30:06):
or not. The Ravens defensive flog. The Chiefs are five
and five. And if you look at the Bills, the Bills,
if Josh Allen's not Superman, they can't win. I think
the teams, the Broncos, the Coats more complete teams. Now
do we trust the quarterbacks, that's the question. But I
do think that those other teams are better teams, if
you follow me.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
I love the way he framed that too. It's about
the team.

Speaker 5 (30:32):
We do subscribe and I understandably because it's a quarterback
driven league about how good these quarterbacks are, and oftentimes,
especially when you're talking about the Patrick Mahomes era, it
has been special moments from Patrick Mahomes in the postseason.
We can also think of collapses by quarterbacks. And if
you put everything on the quarterback and say, boy, we
have one of those guys and he's gonna come through

(30:53):
for us in the quarterback come through for us in
the playoffs, well guess what if he doesn't.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
You're screwed. It's over.

Speaker 5 (30:59):
And so I love his point there on why he
would choose the Broncos side of that or choose the
side of the sort of the new blood here, because
you're talking about complete teams. You're talking about teams that
are performing at a high level around the quarterback. And again,
I know you specifically probably subscribe to that too.

Speaker 6 (31:19):
Absolutely, because even when I played Ryan, the whole idea
was that everything ends and starts with the quarterback position.
And I don't believe that because Herman Evers used to
say this thing about man Drake. Now, Mandrake was supposed
this fictional character that can actually play multiple positions at

(31:40):
the same time, and he would always say, Man Drake
does not truly exist, even though there are people who
try to make that happen. With the quarterback position, there's
not a quarterback that's ever played this game, that's ever
won games by themselves. No, it is a team effort.
The quarterback helps out, the defense gets turnovers, they get stops,

(32:04):
they get the ball back to their quarterback. But at
the end of the day, we're in the Super Bowl.
You know who said who makes the Disney commercial? Usually
it is what the quarterback the quarterback, unless it's Super
Bowl fifty and it's Von Miller. But I mean, you
get my point. But it's about teams. And when I
look at all the remaining teams and how well they're

(32:25):
doing right now. When you talk about Kansas City, the
Ravens and Buffalo, you talk about them a lot because
of their quarterback, what the capability is of what their
quarterbacks can do. And I just listened to Colin Cowherd
say something negative about Patrick Mahomes. He's not Josh Allen. Okay,
he missed a couple of exposive plays against the Denver Broncos.

(32:48):
Now all of a sudden he toilet water and like,
I mean, no, that's not the case. Every player is
going to have their bad day, but you just hope
to have more good days than bad days. But when
you look at some of these other teams, it's about
looking at not just the quarterback, what can they do
at the running back position? What can they do defensively?
When you look at what the Colts have done this season,

(33:10):
I mean Jonathan Taylor, even though he may not win it,
he is my MVP right and Daniel Jones has resurrected
his career. But not having the Foster Butner and that defense,
it changes a lot about what you can do. So
they can run the ball, they have decent quarterback play,
but they can't play defense. So this is why for me,
anyone within their right mind, whether you are a Broncos

(33:33):
fan or you want to be a Broncos homer, you're
going to have the scales tilting favorably in the Broncos
direction because guess what, they have a top defense. Know
they're not creating turnovers like the two thousand and six Ravens,
but here's what you know. They can slam the door
on offense. You can move the ball down the field, Ryan,

(33:53):
but guess what when you're trying to get into that
end zone. It is denied island. We're waving you off.
No plans can land here in the end zone. And
that's the thing that makes this defense so great.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
I think you nailed it right there.

Speaker 5 (34:10):
I do think it's an interesting and enough note, and
maybe we can talk about this a bit of more
on the other side. It's of note that we do
have this sort of changing of the guard.

Speaker 3 (34:21):
Maybe it could be a one off year, right.

Speaker 5 (34:23):
I think you say long term, you still believe in
the talent of what the Ravens, Bills and Chiefs have
built around, but right now they are not the supreme leaders,
if you will, of the AFC. I do think that's interesting.
So maybe we can get back into the other side.
I do want to come back to the Brandon Cook's conversation.
I think there's some more layers to that. And then boy,
speaking of the Chiefs, that seems like everybody out there

(34:44):
is like trying to wield the Chiefs back into the playoffs.
I know you know what I'm talking about. So we'll
get to that coming up here on the other side.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
