Speaker 1 (00:00):
Spur Hill text line, We're going to have a Super

(00:02):
Bowl prediction from a very unlikely source. Coming up here
at four point thirty, we'll get into a little preview,
how about that? For our radio teas, we'll get into
our preview of week twelve, which is always fun to
listen to a lot of audio. We'll do that coming
up here in a little bit. We're on until six
o'clock ten I when we hand things off to Broncos
Country and I will all see her. More from Bohnix.
In his interview with The Pat mcivie Show, it's really good.

(00:24):
It's really really fun stuff. I mean, those guys are
kind of goofalls, but I did appreciate Usually with national guys,
there's a lot of trash talking, especially to the Broncos
offense recently, and those guys have been relatively even. I
mean think they're all like pro their own individual teams.
I think that there's a little bit of the Broncos

(00:45):
defense is good, but I don't know about the offense.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
So there was a couple of.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Moments in the interview where they had to be like, hey, listen,
if I've said awful things about you or about the offense,
I'm so sorry. But here's my question for you, and
that kind of thing.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
So you consider Pat McAfee a journalist, but he's the
highest paid media guy, or he is probably, and he
is the bastion of integrity and journalism obviously.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Did you hear his rant the other day about Drake May.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
What he say, Oh my god, I mean, I'm not
going to play it because it's so obnoxious, but he
that's actually really close to what he said. He called
Drake May a liar. Oh no, because he said because
Drake May. I didn't really hear Drake Drake May part

(01:37):
of it. I just heard about it. But Drake May
basically acknowledged he's never heard of Steven a or first take,
and so he's like, well, he's lying because we're the
number one morning show in the country and so he's
a liar and and so that that was kind of
that was kind of what he what he said. But anyway, anyway,
so back to the bonus thing, and we'll hear some

(01:59):
more of it coming up here. But I loved the
part sort of the tail end of what we played
the like three thirty. So he was talking about how
what's sort of kept them grounded through this entire process,
the winning streak and being number one in the AFC.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I mean, they're aware of it. You can't be not
aware of it.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
But it's because they still haven't really played great football
on the offensive side of the ball. And I got
to imagine that some of that's from the coaching staff
and some of that's just knowing what it's supposed to
look like. Is that something because it's such a it
feels like such a razor's edge to walk, because you
could also recognize through Week eleven of the NFL season,

(02:39):
this is maybe who you are.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
You're going to be an inconsistent offense.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Now, you still think you can get better, You're always
trying to get better, but the inconsistencies are kind of
been the most consistent part of who this team.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Is, right especially on offense.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
So I don't know what you're at this point here
in the season. What are they on offense? And how
do you think the coaching staff is trying to still
improve things knowing that you may still have deficiencies down
the stretch.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Yeah, it's a feaster famine type of offense. I mean
they're leading the league in three and outs, They're leading
the league in punts. They're also nine and two. You know,
they're a middle of the road offense. If you look
at statistically, they score twenty three zero point four points
a game. That's right in the middle of the pack.
It's actually in the bottom half barely, and they're strengthened

(03:27):
by a really good defense only gives up seventeen points
a game. So if you score twenty three and you're
a defense only gives up seventeen, you're gonna win.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Broncos won a lot of close games.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
They're really good in the fourth quarter, but in the
first three quarters they struggle offensively, and I think a
lot of that is based on you know, as well
as Sean Payton is coaching this team from a macro
point of view. I think that in some ways, and
I don't think it's all play calling, but I think
some of the lack of rhythm to start off a

(03:57):
game is definitely a concern the Broncos, and.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
I think they're trying to figure it out.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
You know, I come from a school of coaches who
would always script the first fifteen plays, and for that reason,
we always really came out. We always moved the ball
in the first drive. We always put up points in
the first quarter. It was because these are the plays
we practice, These are the plays we like. These are
the plays we're gonna go do to start off the game. Now,

(04:23):
they didn't all work, but a lot of them did,
and we knew what we were gonna go do and attack.
And I think I think this Broncos team doesn't always
know what they're gonna do, you know, to start off.
And maybe without being in these in these rooms and
understanding the game plan and without being in the playbook,
maybe there's a lack of consistency from week to week.

(04:44):
Maybe it's too much into the wrinkles of the of
the this opponent instead of who we are.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
It doesn't matter who you are.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
We're gonna do what we do and you can go
ahead and try to stop us, and you won't because
we're better than this that you, because we do it
every day. Whereas some coaches and I you know, I
can't really critique Sean Payton's track record, but he's he's
been on the record before saying that, you know, and
this is what the great coaches do. They try to

(05:13):
find the edge from their opponent. They want to find
their weakness. They want to study the previous you know,
four games of film and figure out how to attack
this team. And you know he's he said he hates
the term the Hayes in the barn y, never in
the barn to barns and hey, because you can always
come up with something new, right, Yes, and if you

(05:34):
have an idea light bulb goes off in your head
at two o'clock in the morning the night before the game.
It's not like you know Mitch Hedberg the Comedium. Yes,
he would say when I'm when I'm lying in bed
at night and it's dark and I hear and I
think of a good joke. If the pen is too
far away, I just convince myself it's not funny and

(05:57):
go back to sleep.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Sean Payton doesn't do that.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
No, he will get up and he'll call bonnets at
three in the morning and say, boa, we got, we got.
So I think that sort of like, you know, maybe
a little confusion or or consternation as to what are
we gonna do on Sunday? Is it Is it going
to be the stuff we practiced all week? Or are
we gonna throw something at the end? Are we gonna

(06:21):
change into the last minute. And I think that might
stifle the guys because as an athlete, you want to
just pain in your ears, back and go. You want
to just attack. I mean, that's what these guys do best.
That's what they've been doing their whole life. They haven't
had to trick a lot of people, you know what
I mean, because they're just better.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
And so when all of a sudden it's like tricky,
it's tricky. Then it's then it's hard.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Really leading because you gotta you gotta think like your coach, right,
and Payton is not easy to think like because he's
kind of a savant when it comes to this, so
you know, he almost has to dumb himself down a
little bit to connect with his team.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
I think I think that's exactly right.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
And I think when you are are really leaked at that,
especially that side of the ball or in this specific category,
it is tough. I mean it's one of reasons I've
always thought that as many people have thought, well, hey,
Peyton Manning should go into coaching, I'm like, how would
he explain what he does?

Speaker 2 (07:14):
How is he going to explain any of that? Like, oh, well,
you just do this, you just.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Look off this guy, and hey, when you see this
and this and this, you check to this and they're like,
literally missed all of us.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
But thank you for explaining all that.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
No, and I ultimately see the path here for the
offense as they go down the stretch. They're probably not
going to play the perfect game. There isn't going to
be that version of the defense. I think we'll have
close to it. But even then, Vance Joseph knows how
to touch those right buttons and get these guys going
in the right direction and understanding like, hey, there's still
yards out there that they gained on you.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
We weren't perfect in the red zone.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
Still things to do offensively, though it feels like there's
more variance and because of that, it's going to keep
them grounded. But you even said before we started the
show that you feel like the Broncos have a chance
to win out and that includes the Chiefs, that includes
the Packers and all these games, and in a lot
of ways, it's kind of hard to argue against it
because of really the way they've won and the way

(08:11):
they continue to win, and they do play up to
the competition.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
They have tough games coming up, but I'm not worried
that they're not going to show up with those games.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Actually, if anything, I'm worried about the games that they
should win more than the games that are tougher. So
I think we need into that conversation. Coming up, some
breaking news coming found for the Broncos. They extended one
of their key players. Ooh, an extension late season extension
in the bye week. Wow, we'll get to a neck

(08:40):
to win the super Bowl. But you'll never guess who
ended up predicting it. And we'll get to that here
in just about ten minutes. Nate Jackson and studio Will Lutz.
Congratulations to Will Lutz, who's just signed a three year
extension with the Broncos to the twenty twenty eight season.
You know we sometimes see this during bye weeks, right,
So you go through now a couple years ago, famously,

(09:01):
the Broncos I'd say allegedly, but I guess it's enough
information out there now that actually did happen went to
Russell Wilson and tried to renegotiate his contract with him,
and he felt as though there was a bit of
a threat that if he didn't renegotiate his contract and
void fruit future guarantees, then he'd be benched.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Now, of course, they were in the midst of like
a five.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Game winning streak, and at that time it probably would
have been very difficult to bench Russell Wilson. And by
the way, on the other side of it, he played
against the Buffalo Bills and Monday Night Football and they
won that game, So good stuff there.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
But by week sometimes offer these opportunities.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Will Uts has been phenomenal, I mean absolute phenomenal, obviously
winning AFC Special Teams Player of the Week this last week,
going five for five with the game winner against the Chiefs.
He's also leads the NFL with four game winning kicks
this year.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
Wow, Will Clutch is what we should be calling him.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
There's other nicknames that people have. I like the years better, more.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Pro, yeah, more safe for work. But I love Will Lutz.
I think that he's you know, he has the temperament.
He's just very confident, very calm, cool and collected. I
mean he's been there, done that, four game winners, five
for five last week, the kind of guy that instills
a lot of confidence in the rest of the players.
You know, you believe that Will LUTs is going to
go out there and make the kick. And that goes

(10:20):
a long way when you're when you're a team and
you're like, is our kicker going to make this?

Speaker 2 (10:25):
It just it just creates this like bad energy on
the team, you know. And then you see him miss
and then he gets all down on himself and.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
You see that he's fragile mentally, and it's like, okay,
we're leaving our fate up to this guy who's gonna
have a mental breakdown here.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
So if you do miss a kick, oh well you.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Missed the kick, you get you don't need to bang.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
Yourself in the head.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Bro Gay Ray Bottle and start crying and on the sideline,
you know. And I feel like Will's Will Let's the
temperament is really nice and even keel, and it's just
you know, he's he's he's a really good kicker. And
and if Bronco's Country needs any more that Will Lutz
is the right guy for the job.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
The very last place kicker as.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Far as field goal percentage in the league right now,
dead last is Brandon McManus with the Green Bay Packers.
He's made eleven of seventeen, so b mac had a
good run here. But Will LUTs is the better man
for the job. Now, that's for sure.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
Seventeen to twenty on the season, perfect on extra points,
we're not going to win on all these things. But yeah,
I mean he's eight for eight, thirty to thirty nine,
two for three and the forty to forty nine and
then three for five fifty plus. But he's been unbelievable
and certainly a huge part.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Of why they won these games. Now you will.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
Say, I'm sure somebody sarcastically will point out the one miss,
the one glaring miss that you can think about as
the Colts game when they had a chance to go
up by four points and unfortunately didn't do that and
then Colts drive down. They also should have lost that
game right then there because of the leveraging penalty ended
up killing him. Now, he has signed a two year,

(11:58):
eight point four million dollar con tracked in twenty twenty four,
so he was going to be an unrestricted free agent
next year. So this is is a little bit of
a housekeeping but it's an understanding of like, hey, we
want you to stay here. We don't have to want
to deal with this in the offseason. And that's why
usually during the bye week you see some of these
deals get done.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
And this is a kicker's dream to kick in Denver.
I mean, you and I were talking about about it
in the break. The kicker from Jacksonville who kicked a
sixty eight yard or he's going to probably want to
try a seventy yarder when he's here. I mean, you
know a lot of the records. Jason Elum had it right,
Matt Crater broke it here. I mean, everybody wants to
kick here because they are Cam Little. Yeah, Cam Little.

(12:36):
So Will Lets is in the right spot, yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
No doubt about it. Zach just sent me a pretty
interesting little note here. He says if less his next
three years or comparables was first three, he'll probably finish
this new deal with the fourth or fifth most points
in Bronco's history.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Jason Elm, of course, is.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
The only starting kicker to average more points per game
than will Lett's, but only by point two.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
And Jason Elm is an all time great here in Denver.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
And that also relates to the prowess of the offense, right,
I mean, if the offense is moving the ball, you're
gonna have more scoring opportunities here. So you know, if
bow nicks thrives here and this offense continues to get better.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Well, let's compete with that, like this move. I think
it is funny though, for a moment, because.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
I will remember back to week two when I was
doing Broncos React and there were Broncos fans calling in wanting.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
To cut him.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
At that time, of course, because there's a kicker out
there on the street who would be better.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
It's week two and it's like, we got to get
this bum out of here.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Yeah, and then you fast forward to now and it's like, really,
if anybody wants to cut him, that would be one
of the most ridiculous things to ever say.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Well, I mean, you know, when a kicker misses a
big kick, everyone wants his head.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
I mean, you know about Ray Finkel, I do know
a lot about things did not go well. Leases were
definitely out. No, they should have been out. Well okay, right,
there were in Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Yeah, that's why his mother made the little footballs with
the laces out.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Finkle is zeinhornhard a spinkle. Your gun is digging into my.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
Oh right then, well right back, okay away the greatest
movies of all time.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
Oh, it certainly put him on the map. No, doubt
about that.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
I give him a lot of credit though, Jim Carrey,
whether people care about this or not, because he could
have literally parlayed that movie into an entire career of
just slapstick silliness. The Mask and he had trying to
think he has some other blake cut. You told me
three of those came out in the same year.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
Is that amazing? The Mask? It's venture. There's one other one? Yeah,
what was the other one?

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Not to think about it, maybe the tech sure's no,
it's five six six hine zero.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
But you're right. He had three three in one year,
and he sort of owned cinema. What was the third one?
Dumb and dumber? Oh my god? Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
So, I mean you're talking about hit after hitter after hit,
and he could have just parlayed that into a carret.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
But he's like, hey, I want to be I want
to be serious.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
You know, he did like The Truman Show, and he
did the Liar Liar, which was kind of mirroring to
He did some silliness in it, and he had some serious,
you know, serious and silly moments in it. Sunshine Spotted, Yeah,
eternal Sunshine of the Spot's mind.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Ye, Now that was like way on the other side
for him. No, I also have favorites on his really yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
Yeah, I just like the complexity of it, the concepts
of it, you know, the sort of the how the
brain works and I don't know.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
And in the midst of it, it is a love story,
which is cool too. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
I fell in love with Jim Carrey when he was
on in Living Color, of course, and he did Fire
Marshall Bill and a bunch of other Fire Marshalls show.
Let's just say you're having a barbecue, you have in fight,
said friend Tilver.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Anyway, I'm trying to decide if I like your Sean
Payton or you're fireman.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Uh better, you gotta do this for there. Let it
looks like it looks pretty painful. Now it's done. He
was one of my heroes. I had, you know, Jerry Ryce,
Joe Montana and then and then yeah, and then Jim
Harry and Jim Carrett. Yeah, in that order or reverse order.

(16:26):
Really number one he was. He was. He was my
comedic inspiration.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
Okay, yeah, gosh as an entertainer, I mean, there was
to me no one better than him at.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
The time, well, especially from physical comedy stake place exactly.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
It's really really remarkable. All right, so world to sleep here.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
But I did tease this and we, by the way,
have some really cool telling O whufangas sound coming up
here at the top of the hour.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
He gave kind of a uh, I don't know speech.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
Right before getting the guys fired up from Cherry Creek
with so of course uh with the brother's Dave Logan
our co host here. So we're gonna get to that
sound coming up here at the top of the hour.
But cam scataboo. So this was kind of a funny moment.
I don't know where this interview was taking place. He
was in a car with some buddy that I do
not recognize, but he was asked who he thinks he's

(17:14):
gonna win the Super Bowl, And here's what he said.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
If let's go all in right now, your life savings.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
On one person, who would to be on one team?

Speaker 5 (17:21):
Yeah, the Broncos are good Broncos.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
Yeah, they just find a way to win games.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Bro.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
It's hard to say. I hate saying it.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
I want to say the Giants are gonna win it,
but the Broncos are really good.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
Probably beat us.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
Yeah, the Broncos are really good bro Bro, bron goes Bro,
Broncos Bro bron goes Bro.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
That might be the best one yet. That's that's a
dead ringer.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
That's pretty good brow well, and then he and then
followed it was actually a little longer, but he followed
it up with like, Okay, if you had to put
all your money in, who would it be? He's like,
probably put the Broncos. And then that was an example,
and you know, we like little Jordan Humphrey. Joe Lombardi
told the story about how wil Jordan Humphrey was telling
his guys on the sideline as they were so clebrating
going into the fourth quarter, how they were dominating the Broncos.
He said, these guys are gonna come back, and we

(18:05):
really shouldn't be believing that we've won this game just yet.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
Yeah, that's interesting. Little Jordan Humphrey was on that sideline.
Yeah that game.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Had to watch that.

Speaker 3 (18:13):
And now he's back back on the right team.

Speaker 5 (18:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
I mean, look, some people are starting to see this,
some people are starting to believe it, But the most
important group of guys that needs to believe it are
the ones in that locker room right here in Denver
and Honestly, the longer people kind of sandbag and doubt
the Broncos, the better. I mean, I think they'll be
fine when they are the front runners. I think they
will be fine handling being the number one seed. But

(18:39):
the longer people doubt you, the more fodder it gives
your head coach to talk about the seven eleven slurpees
and whatever else he wants to do with the messaging
to get these guys ready to go.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
It's always a.

Speaker 3 (18:49):
Good tactic to say they don't believe in you, right,
they think you suck. Nobody believes you. Guys can get
it done. That's always a good motivating tactic. It always
has been, it always will be lack of respect. They
don't respect us. So you know, Kama Scattaboo saw it
for up close and personal, saw this defense really contain
him and that running game.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Out of what he rushed for thirty yards forty yards
in that game nothing. He had a couple of nice
catches and that was.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
Was that the game he got hurt in? I think
it was, or maybe there'll be. I know he had
a touchdown in that game. He had a nice touchdown
play he played in that game, played a little way through.
I remember he got truck sticked by Alex Singleton, laid
in the game on a pass pro.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Yep, yeah, yeah, absolutely, I ended up leading to the interception.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Yeah, that highlight was going around the next week. Yes,
welcome to the NFL rookie, but no, I mean he
saw up close and personal how dynamic this defense is
and if the Broncos offense can come around, which look
against the Chiefs, I think that was the most complete
game we've seen this team play this this year, and
special teams as well, all three phases and beat a

(19:55):
very desperate, very good Chiefs team. Maybe they're following him
a little bit from where they were, but they know
how to play these meaningful games. And the Broncos beat
them in a very meaningful game and played good football
on offense, good football on defense, and really good football
on special teams.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
And so that's the kind of complete game with.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
All three phases, stuff that you need at the end
of the season if you're gonna make waves in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
I'm one hundred percent with you, and especially when it
comes to people still doubting them, because it's working.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
It absolutely is working.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
You heard in the post game, well not only talking
about Adam Troubland, but even Garrett Boles up there against
what are they gonna say? Now? What are they gonna
say now? And we're gonna have a conversation Zack night
before the show about the whole fools Gold thing because
people are having a tough time really buying into the
Broncos as one of the elite teams in the AFC.
Same thing with the Colts, the same thing with the Patriots.
And I think some of that is you just got

(20:48):
here versus the Ravens and the Chiefs and the Bills
who've been doing this for years. And it's the reason
why the Chiefs are still tied for in the AFC
the Super Bowl favorites. They are still right up they're
the nine seed and they had the second best odds
to win the Super Bowl right now in the AFC

(21:09):
or the Tide with I think it's I told you
that it.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
Might be Buffalo. Buffalo and the Chiefs are all right
up there.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
But anyways, in the AFC, it's like literally those two
the problems are like ninth, yeah on that list.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
It's like you got to prove it.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
You got to prove it in the playoffs, before people
buy into it.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
And I respect that.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
I do respect that, but it's working for this team,
So let's just keep rolling this way versus all of
a sudden, if everybody's like, oh, the Broncos have arrived
and they're really great and they're heaping all this praise, well,
then that might seep in a little bit.

Speaker 5 (21:40):
Now.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
We heard from bower Nick's.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Earlier and he said it's almost impossible for them to
feel that way because they feel offensively they still have
a lot to do. And then she's right, they do
have a lot on the offensive side of the ball
to continue to improve on. But Zach and I were
talking about how if they would have blown out even
just the Raiders and the Jets, the entire narrative might
have shifted on this team, you know, because those were

(22:02):
standalone games and everybody's watching in the everybody in the
country is watching, And instead of blowing out two bad teams,
they ended up playing them close and they only got wins.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
That's the most important thing.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
But it wasn't pretty football, especially on the offensive side
of the ball. It's remarkable because everything else, if you
just kept everything the same and just those two games
were blowouts, wins over teams you're supposed to beat. Now, Remarkably,
everybody would move a goal post and still say, well,
they're bad teams, you're supposed to beat them.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Yeah, but aren't they now after last week?

Speaker 3 (22:37):
I mean, you don't really have a leg to stand
on if you're doubting this team's ability to win against
good teams.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
I mean you would think so. But guess what's being
said now is saying, well, the national guys, But what
it is.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
Is dragons Layer sixty nine. They're saying this is a
down year for the Chiefs, and so now they'd beat
Eagles too in Philly. They did also houses at the
time when the Eagles were going in Houston.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Yeah, well, and I think the Houston win, honestly, after
last night, you have to feel much better about the
Broncos from that win too.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Yeah, even those an eighteen to fifteen game. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
So it's always interesting how it will continue to shift.
I really thought after the Chiefs win there would be
a lot more recognition, be a lot more like this
legitimizes the team, but it's still not quite enough.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
And I think it's to your point that you have
to do it in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
You gotta and look the Chiefs, they're falling off of
that pedestal. I mean they're having a hard time winning
the one score games now for whatever reason.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Is one to five is that energetic? Is that karmick?

Speaker 3 (23:39):
You know, the wins finally changing and you had your run,
and now these other teams are gonna ascend.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
That happens.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
It happens to every team eventually, and the Chiefs have
had quite a run, and so you know, maybe they'll
still go on a run, make the playoffs and do
something special this year.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
But it looks like that's not going to happen.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
And I think people are seeing that the Broncos have
to do in the playoffs. You know, think about the Ravens.
I mean the Ravens have been a really good regular
season team. I mean were they were the number one
seed a couple of years ago when the Chiefs had
to go there and then they lost to the Chiefs. Right,
So I think that there's like an element of probably
that sort of skepticism when it comes to the Broncos.

(24:19):
Yes they might have a good regular season, Yes they
might even get the number one seed, but what are
they going to do when a hardened playoff team comes
to town and they have to play a different style
of football when they have to control the ball on
the ground, when they have to establish their run and
stop their run.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Can they do that?

Speaker 3 (24:35):
And I think ultimately, you know, there's probably a tiny
bit of doubt in that building even as to whether
or not they can play that style of football in
January and February because last year they're only sample sized.
They couldn't do it in Buffalo, and that's why they
strengthened this running attack. And the guy who is leading
it is not going to be there, right and they're

(24:56):
going to rely on a rookie and relatively undersized a
scatback guy. So what's the running game going to look
like in that first playoff game? And I think that's
that's the question mark that a lot of these like
football analyst guys or whatever are going to need to
have resolved before they can annoint the Broncos like the
next the next thing.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
Well, and what will bow Knicks do in high leverage
moments when it's the playoffs versus a regular season game.
And so because the first opportunity we've seen of that,
they've got sam blasted by the Buffalo Bills. And that's
not all on bow Knicks, but he was the quarterback
of record, and he made the one great touchdown pass
to Troy Franklin and then it was a lot of
forgettable the rest of the game.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
Yeah, So that's where it comes down to.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
And then this textra points a out says, hey, look
that the Chiefs might make the playoffs here, and they're
gonna be one of the most dangerous six or seven
seeds out there save to the Buffalo Bills if they
don't end up coming back and winning the division, which
by the way, losing last night hurts that cause.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
And they were already trailing.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
The Patriots when it comes to the head to head
they got another game coming up against him. Point if
it is though, if they can't catch the Patriots in
the division, that they're going to be traveling in Week one.
And the Buffalo Bills, even though they looked pretty human
last night, we know they're a very good team. We
know they're a very good postseason team. The Ravens, unless
they can catch the Steelers, they also could be kind

(26:15):
of in the mix there of the wildcard teams.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
So if you have the Bills, the Ravens.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
And the Chiefs as the three wild card teams. I
guarantee most of the narrative and the dialogue around the
playoffs in the AFC is going to be those three
teams can go on the road and beat anybody that
has home field advantage.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
What happens every year too, not just you know, with
those teams, but the road wildcard team goes and wins
that game a lot.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Because oftentimes those are the guys who are hot at
the end of the season, who kind of come on
and are able to rally behind the mission of going
on the road and finding ways to win. And a
lot of times the division winner might not be that
great or whatever it might be. You know.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
When I was on that two thousand.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
And five AFC Championship game team, we went thirteen to three,
We got a first round by we beat the Patriots
in that second round, our first playoff, and we hosted
an AFC Championship game when we thought we were gonna
have to go on the road and play the Colts.
The Colts were the number one seed, but they lost
to the Steelers, who were the sixth seed. There was
only six seeds back then, and we're pretty excited about it,

(27:19):
of course. And the Steelers came here and beat us,
and they went to the Super Bowl and won the
Super Bowl. They got hot at the right time, and
that can happen for a wildcard team. So the but
the home field advantage, that's the anomaly.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
What I just described. The home field advantage is huge.
The number one.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
Seed, I think is won, you know, twenty six out
of the last thirty five Super Bowls or something like that. Yeah,
so it looks good that Broncos need to be vying
for that number one spot.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
You want to pick some games, Yeah, yeah, let's have
some fun. Let's roll through some of the slate and
we're gonna start here with the Bears and the Steelers.
Bears a favorite in this Lord will win here.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
At US Banks Stadium. Snapped his back hold this good
sweeps the right leg. Cairo Santo up.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
He's God, God, God Fortyer, Caro sactosmop I'm a Viking loco.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
Jeff Joniac Chicago Bears Radio Network. So the Bears are
favored by two and a half. It's kind of a
weird game, right because you have a seven to three
Bears team, a six and four Steelers games a big
time game, but with two different conferences, we still don't
know Aaron Rodgers status.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
He's questionable. I'll go to you, vers, Zach, what do
you think about this game?

Speaker 6 (28:26):
I just don't buy the Steelers either way right now.
I think the Bears are getting better and better as
the season goes on. They're hot, their offense looks good.
They're at home for this one. I'm pretty sure. I
think the Bears get some revenge against Aaron Rodgers and
get the win here, right.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
How about you? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (28:39):
I mean surprised by the success the Bears have had
this season, but the Bears are looking pretty darn good.
And I don't buy Pittsburgh either. I think that with
or without Aaron Rodgers, they don't seem like and they
don't play their best football late in the season into
the playoffs, they seem to falter.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
I'm going with the Bears in this one, all right.
Patriots Bengals set in the.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
Backfield with Digs back there, Hey, out of the gun.
Looks luck Rose Luck We're in the back.

Speaker 1 (29:04):

his third score of the.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
Nights, a seven yard touchdown fast by Great Bay.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
Was Tom McCarthy Westwood one on the call there Patriots
affair about six and a half. Also don't know the
status of Joe Burrow, who is officially questionable for this game.
Got unlimited practice there on Friday, full practices earlier in
the week. I mean, if you're the Bengals, this is
such a weird deal, right because you of course want
Joe Burrow out there.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
You're really not going.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
Anywhere, so a lot of games to play. This is
kind of a mixed thing. Yes, seven games for me
if you get Joe Burrow back right now. And I
gotta imagine players always talk themselves into, hey, if we're
going to.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
Run here, we can make things interesting. So if you're
the Bengals, where do you come down on this?

Speaker 1 (29:47):
You try to bring Burrow back as soon as possible,
or do you recognize three and seven were in a
bad spot.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
I would pump the brakes on Joe Burrow. He's pretty
injury prone. He's had a lot of them. Jamar Chase
also out in this game, suspended or spinning on uh.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
He did do the player, although he said he didn't.
I didn't do that that well.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
But in four K I saw you Yeah, I would
say they should arrest him either way.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
I think the Bengals are gonna lose this one. Patriots
are hot. They are hot, no doubt about it. What
do you think, Zach. Yeah, no disrespect to.

Speaker 6 (30:18):
Joe Burrow, but it's not like the problem with the
Bengals offense during this losing streak his ben. It's been
the offense. Joe Flack is doing fine. I don't think
Burrow in or not will change all that much for them.
I think the Patriots roll.

Speaker 5 (30:31):
Packers Vikings screen Bay for ending by one shotgun snapped

Speaker 2 (30:44):

Speaker 1 (30:48):
Packers Radio Network w r in w Packers very by
six against the Vikings.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
Boy, the Vikings are just so tough to understand at
this point.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
Jiji McCarthy had a bad performance in a must win
game last week against the Bears.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
Packers are the better team, but they've also been all
over the map.

Speaker 6 (31:04):
Here.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
I'll start with you on this one. Yeah, they have
been all over the map.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
But I don't see Minnesota going on the road and
finding a way to beat the Packers. With JJ McCarthy
playing so inconsistently, I think the Packers are gonna win.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
They're not gonna cover though they're favored by six. I
think they're gonna win, but by fewer than six. Okay,
what about you, Zach.

Speaker 6 (31:21):
Yeah. JJ McCarthy's looked bad against shaky defenses like the
Chicago Bears. I think Micah Parsons is about to feast
on nine the Kessney Chiefs and the Colts. Massive implications
in the AFC.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
Nineteen nineteen TI.

Speaker 7 (31:36):
The holder is the rookie punter Jeremy cross Shaw, long
snapper Mitchell Froboni.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
His lux lines it.

Speaker 7 (31:43):
Up, snap is down lets, his field goal is good.
On the Broncos, we'll go to nine and two with
another narrow victory this season, and they win by a
score at twenty two to nineteen and the Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
Fall to five and five on the season.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
I couldn't wait to play that highlight. Mid Folds is
who does a wonderful job. A lot of credit to him.
Ninety six five to the fan the Chiefs radio network
on the call, they are five and five, five the
Cults are eight and two. The Chiefs are favorite at
home on this one, Zach, which way do you come down?

Speaker 2 (32:16):
At some point?

Speaker 6 (32:17):
I feel like we have to own that maybe the
Chiefs aren't the Chiefs of old. They're running five this
year against playoff teams. Everyone's highlighting the close game thing.
They're just also not very good against good teams. The
Cults are a very good team.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Give me the.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
Colts, what about you, Nate, I'm coming along a little
bit slower on this nail in their coffin.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
I think that the Chiefs are going to find a
way to be I guess it's for me. It's also
the Colts. Are the Colts really that good?

Speaker 3 (32:41):
I have a hard time buying that the culture is
good as their record says, even though they're scoring thirty
two points a game and leading the NFL by a
long shot in that in that stat I think the
Chiefs are going to find a way to win this
and keep their season alive.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
I'm with Zach. I like the Colts in this one.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
They're coming off of bye week, and they can run
the ball when they want to run the ball, and
that's what.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
I think they're gonna lean on in this game. Meanwhile,
the Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
They were desperate in this last game against the Broncos,
and we saw what happened. They still lost, and they
didn't play great in it. They don't really have much
of a pass rush, they don't run the ball, and
Patrick Mahomes, especially on third down, it's like one of
the worst quarterbacks in the league right now.

Speaker 2 (33:17):
So they put all that together.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
Like I said, especially with Indy coming off bye, I
got the Indianapolis Colts going on the road and ending
more or less the season of the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Jacksonville Jaguars on the road versus the Cards under
center as Trevor bag the taut they throw to the
back of the handle.

Speaker 7 (33:33):
Got for the Backstown, But why think Tim Patrick at
the back of the end on a one yard touchdown pass.

Speaker 2 (33:41):
They've extended the lead. How good is that? It's phenomenal?
Way to go, Tim Patrick? Timmy passed.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
Frank Franzis Jaguars Radio Network wj x L. Jaguars are

Speaker 2 (33:55):
Nates. Can they get a win over the Cardinals? Yeah,
they can. And if you want to go to that game,
you can get in for fifteen dollars.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Whoa, that's what he says that, I bro trip, that's
the cheapest ticket in town this week. You know what,
the most expensive one is Pittsburgh at Chicago. Cheapest ticket
four hundred and thirty two dollars. Say, But I digress.
I think that Jacksonville's playing pretty well and Arizona isn't.
Jacksonville is gonna win that game.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
What do you think, Zach?

Speaker 6 (34:20):
Yeah, give me Jacksonville. They are a Doctor jack Will
and mister Hide team. But you know, I think Doctor
Jekyll could beat up.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
On this Cardinals squad.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
Whoa look of that Cardinals actually, And by the way,
Jacobey Wes said had forty seven completions oh wow last
week and that jersey is going to be hung at
the Hall of Fame. Was that the most ever, most ever,
most different completions in the football game.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
Well, I'm hoping they could keep doing that because that
receiver that's that's coll like thirteen passes.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
At Michael Wilson. Yeah, I got him in my fantasy squad. Yes,
so way to go.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
And it's good because Jamar Chase is online and he's
going to be having to sit man, that's right. Yeah,
for spitting. That's right.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
No, I didn't spit. He said he didn't sign, but
we all saw. We all saw he sign. Didn't do it, dude, Okay,
I believe you. You have to Yeah, you know I
didn't do it. Face of a person that tells the
truth on that.

could be a really good game. The Rams are favored
by seven though, Zach big big spread.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
Yeah, I don't know if they cover it.

Speaker 6 (35:38):
The Bucks keep giving these teams good games. But I
think whenever they've matched up against one of these these
top tier teams this year, they've come up just short.
That happened against the Eagles, happening against the Bills. I
think it'll happen again this week.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
What do you think? Neat Rams just look so good.
They do be good.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
They're playing faster, more aggressively than everyone, with more purpose.
They have a ton of confidence, and Matt Stafford is
in one of his best seasons of his career, and
he's had a darn good career.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
The Rams are gonna win, and I think they're gonna cover.
I'm with you on that.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
Like the Rams a lot, but the cover is gonna
We'll see what the Buccaneers do. They're still little banged up.
Get Bucky Irving back next week. Finally, Monday night fall.
This normally a Panthers game is not something we're gonna
talk about, but they've actually been surprisingly interesting this year.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
Still their home uh sorry road Dogs.

to cover this one. They've been sort of scrappy.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
What do you think, Nate, Yeah, I think the Niners
are gonna cover. Brock Party back in the at the
Helm looked really good last week.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
So you like him whin you like him to cover?
I like him to win. I like him to cover.
This happening in San Francisco.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
Yeah, I'm sorry in Santa Clara because it's not in
San Francisco, the side of Super Bowl sixty, by the way,
where the Broughts are gonna be facing off against some
NFC's schmuck. But no, I think the Nighters are gonna
take care of business. Even though the Panthers, like you said,
are looking pretty good. They're six and five and uh,
you know, with a win and the Buccaneers lost, it'll
be in first place in that division.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
How about that. But I'm gonna go with the Niners
to cover.

Speaker 6 (37:24):
They also have a better record than the Kansas City Chiefs,
which I would never predicted. I think the forty nine
ers win in this one. I don't think they can
cover that. That line's a little too rich for me.
I think the Panthers will be able to run on them.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
All right, we'll right back on KWA
