Speaker 1 (00:14):
We're on till nine o'clock tonight, nine o'clock.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Plenty of opportunity for you to react to the Broncos
win twenty nine nineteen and they as you've just heard
her from day If you improved to seven and five,
bon Nix looked very sharp overall, two seventy three passing,
sixty percent completion, really two touchdowns, only took the one
sack and that was in the first half.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
No sacks in the second half.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Meanwhile, the Broncos defense with five sacks and two turnovers
on Gardner Minshew and Desmond Ritter in the second half.
Very very cool stuff. Three all three seven one, three
eighty five eighty five is the Kiowei Common Spirit Health Hotline,

for you to react to the game, what you liked,
which you didn't like.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Again, I imagine.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Tonight, if I'm just predicting, some of the reaction will
get some people that are obviously thrilled by the fact
that the Broncos swept the Raiders. There will be some
people calling in or texting in tonight that will be
a little unhappy about how close it maybe got towards
the end. There some of the play calling that three
and out where they threw three in completions, That one

(01:31):
will probably come up a little bit tonight. But in
the end, and I love I love what Sean said,
todave gosh what I was in the Maybe it was
to the poet with the media. Actually he said that well,
first of all, he said a year ago, they probably
don't win this game. But he said a month from now,
we're gonna look back on this and people aren't gonna

(01:52):
be thinking about some of the problems on special teams,
or maybe the way that it kind of ended where
the Raiders kept them ourselves. Indn't know they're going to
look back into save the Broncos gotta win. They swept
the series against the Raiders, and I couldn't agree more.
I think that's where we're gonna ultimately go so again.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Three oh three, Set one.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Three eighty five, eighty five, five six, six tights zero
K commons bird health text lines go right off to
the phones and is that line one?

Speaker 1 (02:17):
There is that? Or is it gonna be line two?
That's what about it? Okay, Brad, you're up first year
on Broncos react? What's up? Brad?

Speaker 3 (02:25):
All right?

Speaker 4 (02:25):
How you doing?

Speaker 5 (02:26):
Man?

Speaker 1 (02:26):
I'm doing great, man? How are you.

Speaker 6 (02:29):
Hey?

Speaker 5 (02:29):
Uh So I called you last week and I said
that I was really interested to see how the Broncos
would handle success. And in the first half I really
did not like what I saw. The Raiders seemed like
they were playing with a lot more passion. I mean,
they're playing like it was their Super Bowl. And the
thing that I'm really proud of is that it seems
like the team they really weathered the storm and they

(02:52):
came out at the half with renewed attitude. And to me,
that speaks about Bonix right because if you don't believe
that you have a quarterback who can help get you
back into the game, if you don't have confidence that
you can get back into the game, that I don't
think that you see that same amount of confidence coming

(03:12):
back in the second half. So I love what I saw.
I love Sean Payton kind of echoed that in his
comments with Dave when he said, we don't win that
game last year. So to me, that's all about bo Nix,
and I love it quietly. We scored twenty nine points.
How many games over the past four or five years
have we just like screamed if we could only score

(03:34):
like twenty one or two points, that we could have
won the game. And here it is. It feels like
we didn't play the best game that we could have played,
and we put twenty nine up on the board. So
I love what's happening with this team right now. It
doesn't have to look great every week, Like I said
last week, he I think it's kind of unreasonable.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
To expect that.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
But it's really nice to go into games knowing that, hey,
we can go out there and score. You know, he
scored twenty nine points without really playing our best, our
best football and win a division game on the road.
It's a great way, and man, I.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Loved it all right, perfectly said there, Brad well done.
Definitely want to give some shout out to Will Lutz tonight.
It's not often we lead off our postgame reaction with
a kicker conversation, but he went five for five, And
as you just pointed out there, Brad scoring twenty nine
points gets there by the fact that he made two
fifty plus yard field goals in the game, which was

(04:32):
obviously a big time to have a fifty three yard
and a fifty four yarder. He made all of them,
including a couple late that they really had to have
to sort of keep the Raiders at bay to keep
the game script in their favor.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
So it's one of those things where you know you're right.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Twenty ninety for a team that scores twenty one point
four on the season, which is twentieth to score twenty nineteen,
and I love score twenty nine, and I love your
point ultimately about how this is what it needs, I mean,
what it takes right. This is a complimentary football and
for the Broncos to be able to do that today,
if you to scored your season average, yet that would

(05:11):
have been enough, but it probably wouldn't have in some
ways because the Raiders, especially in the fourth quarter, were
really moving the ball. And I guess that's a bigger
topic that may be a little bit of a topic
that we're going to get into a bit here about
how the Raiders really.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Were finding some success with the Broncos. They bent, they
didn't break.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
They gave up only those three points, well six points
in the fourth quarter, but they gave up those three
points when again, if the Broncos hadn't converted those field goals,
that might have been the difference in the game.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Again, big win, big win all across the board.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Another thing that I think well probably get into a
little bit tonight is the running attack. Sixty three rushes
on twenty two carries for two point nine per carry.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
That's got to be a little bit.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Better, especially against a Las Vegas Raiders team that really
hadn't been great against the run, giving up over one
hundred and twenty five rushing yards per game. Like to
have been a little bit better there, but once again,
the game plan clearly was to be attacking through the air.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
They were passing over and over and over again.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
You talking about forty two passing attempts against the Raiders
is a two win team and they went right after
their young cornerbacks because they were missing two to start
this game.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
So again, LOI ways, we can sort of chop this up.
We'll get right back to.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
The calls as well as the text three to three
seven one, three, eighty five, eighty five five six six
nine zero. It's O Kae Commas Spirit Health text line.
We're gonna hear from Sean Payton when we come back.
You're listening to Broncos React on the Kawa Broncos Radio Network.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
NIXT takes a shotgun, snap throws a fade.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
We're oute right side. He's got something there.

Speaker 7 (06:35):
Coryland goes up mix the touch touchdown Denver right over
the top of Jack Jones. Cortland sudden with his fourth
receiving touchdown of the season, a throw of eighteen yards
and the Broncos in front fifteen to thirteen.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
That was the electrifying play of the game. Powered by

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Welcome back to Broncos React.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
We are lying from the Quantum Fiber Broadcast Booth, your
World Unleashed quantum Fiber dot com and I'm Ryan Edwards
from the smash Burger Sports Desk smash Burger Eat like
no one's watching Smashburger dot com. We're going to hear
from Sean Payton here in just a matter of moments.
I'll read a couple of texts here before we get
to some calls. Holy Moley Nicks was great, especially in

(07:25):
regard to protecting possession of the football. Special teams had
a couple of lapses, but defense was great again. Special
shout outs to Nick Mims, ster Nod and the great
Sutton playoff run is on. That's Todd and Centennial. Where
are all the unbowlievers? Go Bo go Broncos like that one. Uh,

(07:45):
this's here Goodwin, but Bowie is still trash. Well, I
don't even know what to say to that one. But
for you, and probably just for you, our good friends
at the Colorado State Patrol would like to remind you
that if you're planning and enjoying tailor getting in game
day fun, make the best game plan and have a
sober driver.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Again, just want to help you out.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Think of the idea that the Broncos would have won
that last game last year against Vegas, we might not
have gotten Bo because Vegas would have had the higher
draft pick. Luckily we lost and now have our franchise quarterback.
That's a really good point, probably an underrated point, because
the Broncos were right in front of the Raiders picks
twelve and thirteen. You're right if the Broncos would have
found a way to split last year, Actually no, the

(08:30):
Raiders swept them now that I think about it, So
if they would have lost, if they would have won
that game, that could have been detrimental. Raiders would have
ended up with Bo Nicks, big time deal, no doubt.
Kudos to the unsung hero and all this, George Peyton.
He took so much heat when things were going bad,
and he's an afterthought as we're winning. I would say
he's a complete afterthought. But I agreed, it's not being
talked about enough. And you think about a lot of

(08:51):
the players that were making plays today. I mean, this
rookie class is really been sensational. Devon Veley out there,
Troy Franklin had a couple of catches, ownA Ellis came
up with the game winning sack right there, and then
of course you have Malcolm Roach who recovered a fumble,
had a sack, and Brandon Jones who had an interception.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
So these are all off season editions.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
These are all additions to this team right now, not
including of course bo Nix, who absolutely, despite what that
texter said about him being trash, he's in the offensive
Rookie of the year conversation. Let's get a phone call
in here before we hear from Sean Payton Broncos sixty.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Oh, this would be Broncos sixty. You're up next here.
What's up? Man?

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Hey, how are you doing there? Buddy?

Speaker 1 (09:35):
I'm swell? How are you pretty good?

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Will kind of happen with the wen today with I
got just two questions to ask you and I hang up. Okay,
why did the pain?

Speaker 5 (09:45):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Well, whoever calls the place run the ball, I mean
past the ball instead of running the talk and time
out a fourth quarter twice?

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Yeah, Like I said, I knew that would probably come
up a little bit. They obviously had a bit of
a game plan. They wanted to be aggressive, But there
is being aggressive and there's being smart, And honestly, at
that point you would probably prefer to run some clock,
but they decided not to. They threw three incompletions. Obviously
that was a big deal. So I don't know.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
I maybe Sean will tell us here in his postgame
press conference. I haven't heard it yet.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
It's okay, my real fast questions. I can hang up
and listen to you. Uh, how many times has these
different teams tried that fake punt us?

Speaker 2 (10:23):
Yeah, it feels like it's happened. It feels like it's
happened a couple of times. Yeah, the Raiders.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Yet what's that?

Speaker 7 (10:30):
And that?

Speaker 4 (10:30):
And the Bronk was ain't ready for that? I mean,
could be able to fence that?

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Yeah, they fell asleep on it. I mean there's no
other way around it. I'm sure they.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Uh, I'm sure the special teams coordinator Bincot Week is
going to be asked about it this week.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
I mean, you have a forty yards thank you.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
I'm gonna listen to you guys, Okay, all.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Right, thank you, appreciate it. Yeah, he'll be asked about
that because that's that was a huge play. They ended
up giving him three points. I mean, in the end,
it was a good thing for the defense to stop
them before getting more, but that in that moment, that
was a gift of three points real three seven, three
eight five eighty five five six six nine zero Kerrie
common Spirt health Tech. So let's get one more calling

(11:05):
Ian in from Iowa.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
What's up?

Speaker 8 (11:08):
Ian?

Speaker 1 (11:08):
How are you hey?

Speaker 4 (11:10):
Guys?

Speaker 7 (11:10):
How you doing great?

Speaker 8 (11:12):
Hey? Go quick point.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
First of all, I didn't have to give kudos to
Sean Payton because apparently he's doing this with the thirty
third best rated quarterback according to ESPN dot com. So
that's absolutely fantastic that he is able to what are
we seven to five? Now? So seven and five with
a guy who is worse than Daniel Jones who just
got cut. So amazing, amazing coaching job by Sean Payton.

(11:37):
Tongue in cheek. If you guys didn't get my point,
but I am a brown nose, there's something to go
back and just give kudos to our owners because thank
thank thank god, we finally have owners that care. So
we replace the turf, we get in new uniforms, we
do all the things we ship pay Sean Payton. God
knows how much Shompayn's making, but that's the truths on

(11:59):
effect every single day and now we're gonna need a playoff.

Speaker 5 (12:03):
Guys.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
I just can't love it more.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Dig it good call, good call, and absolutely shout out
to the ownership. I mean that is a big part
of why this is all lining up the way it is.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Sean Payton.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Speaking of Sean Payton, he spoke with the media following
today's game and here were is comments.

Speaker 9 (12:19):
This is a tall podium up, who's lowering it?

Speaker 6 (12:25):
Can you lower it some more? I'd like to feel
like six foot one that I am.

Speaker 9 (12:31):
There you go, thank you, look gritty, good team win, tough.

Speaker 6 (12:38):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (12:38):
Defensively, man, we battled with especially with some some short fields.
You know, we met tuesday as a staff and it
wasn't a matter if it was when they were going
to run a fake punt, you know, when you're struggling
as a team like this. We we had it on
the keys to victory and so at them. They executed it.

(13:02):
Then they get a kick, you know. So our defense
defended i'd say a lot of minus situations where and
they handled it well. Offensively, we struggled in the first half.
We got a lot of cover zero, a lot of blitz,
a lot of pressure, a lot more than we expected
and which made it hard to run the ball obviously

(13:24):
with some of those looks. So the second half, though,
we battled back. I think we were one of something
third down in the first half, and then the second
half we just had to we had to beat the pressure.
And you know, a year ago we don't win that game,
and so you know, it wasn't our best, but it

(13:48):
was good enough and we're on to the next one.
So we'll have a lot to clean up. But it
was good to handle these guys for a second time.
Any questions, They aren't the games almost I think I
said this to them. You know, the the elite teams

(14:11):
in seventeen regular season games will be really ready ready
for thirteen or fourteen of those games, and then the
ones that they're not, they still find a way to win,
and they may lose a few, but they find a
way still. And and I said, I said to them today,
you know, our team a year ago doesn't win this game,
but this team did. And uh and you built, you

(14:32):
built some grit. We won the turnover battle again. You know,
we were the better team today and we didn't always
play like it. But we'll get those those things cleaned
up one or time.

Speaker 7 (14:47):
Last year.

Speaker 6 (14:48):
But I'm just talking about this team. I'm not talking
about last year. This team. This team's entirely different.

Speaker 9 (14:56):
I'm just talking about what I see with the mental toughness,
the grit, the fortitude, how they work it has been.
This is an entirely different team from a year ago.
And then that's no.

Speaker 6 (15:08):
Discredit to the last year's team. Just is what it is.

Speaker 9 (15:12):
Some of the keys, I think one of the goals, Yeah,
one of the keys. Look, Gardner is tough when he
gets out of the pocket, and so every time he
got out of the pocket, I'm screaming at Vance and
every defensive coach. You know, we want to cage rush
him and when we can keep him there, you know,

(15:38):
but turnover skin and those really proved to be the difference,
and they will in most games. But I thought we
we handled the run game. You know, they give you
some eye candy motion stuff we missed. We missed a
few relative with coverage assignments.

Speaker 6 (15:59):
Eighty nine.

Speaker 9 (16:02):
Nineteen and those are really good players, but we didn't
hear from them.

Speaker 6 (16:09):
Alon.

Speaker 10 (16:11):
We had a but last week talked about finding answers.

Speaker 7 (16:15):
I guess when they.

Speaker 11 (16:16):
Were getting you with the pressure early, what did they say.

Speaker 6 (16:18):
About his growth growth.

Speaker 9 (16:20):
Yeah, the problem with the pressure early for me as
a plate caller is not necessarily the past. It's it's
what it's doing to our ability. Like to run, I
call an r PO, it's a po, it's a pass,
you know. In other words, Yeah, it's I don't and
we've got to be better with our plan. But I

(16:42):
don't like when they can dictate, you know, relative to
what we do. And I probably should have gotten in
some heavier personnel groupings. But but we really felt we
had some matchup advantages and we took we took advantage
of them. Courtland played tremendous. We had other opportunities. But

(17:05):
and Credit, you know, Credit Vegas. They came out and
and had some fire about them, but they lost your
receiver getting Yeah, yeah, they just they they're healthier, longer,
they're built for this game.

Speaker 6 (17:27):
But that doesn't mean we're opposed to a smaller receiver.

Speaker 9 (17:33):
The smaller receivers have to walk on water, though, and
then then we're excited about them. So all of those
guys weren't in on the action today. And and look,
we'll look at the film and clean up some things started. Well,

(17:55):
you learn it every week we play, you learn it,
you learn a little bit more. Fair question, how are
we going to respond? You know coming here? You know,
I thought we had a good week of practice. I
thought Friday got a little and so, yeah, you learn
a little bit more.

Speaker 10 (18:16):
Now it's at that point.

Speaker 9 (18:19):
Shoot, you've got a number of different matchups. You know,
Pat had them. You got to disrupt him at the
line if you can. They do such a good job
of moving them.

Speaker 6 (18:29):
It's hard. You know, it's hard to say he's always
going to be here.

Speaker 9 (18:32):
Uh, he's a true joker tight end and those are Listen,
when you have him, there's nothing better because it involves
interior people sometimes not exterior people.

Speaker 6 (18:44):
You mentioned that Thoth.

Speaker 7 (18:46):
Can stacking.

Speaker 9 (18:48):
Out the Yeah, look, I think that ultimately the consistency
with not only Courton Courtland, but these other players and
where they're going to be and how they're going to
get there, and what he's seeing and feeling, that's important.

Speaker 6 (19:09):
No, I'm not going to offer no.

Speaker 5 (19:12):
No.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Kansas was thirteen thirteen and kicks talk about.

Speaker 9 (19:22):
And just a little listen, he's been kicking well. His
Kansas City kick got blocked, but it was a good kick.
We that was That was on us as coaches. That
wasn't on any individual player. Will's doing well, he's uh soot,
He's got a live leg.

Speaker 6 (19:39):
He was solid today. Yeah. Uh his body of work
has been really good.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
In the division.

Speaker 5 (19:50):
How important is that he important of being over?

Speaker 6 (19:55):
Yeah? I listen.

Speaker 9 (19:57):
You know when you go someplace in in and people
talk about, well you have it, you haven't. They haven't
in a while, they haven't done that, they haven't done
and so you have to even though a lot of
these players weren't here, you exercise these demons like hadn't
beaten the Raiders.

Speaker 6 (20:13):
I don't know how long. It doesn't matter.

Speaker 9 (20:14):
We beat him twice this year, I hadn't beaten You know,
we're focused on the next game. Obviously the division games matter.
And listen the appreciation for beating the Raiders. I mean
I listen. At a young age, was fortunate to interview

(20:35):
with Al Davis three weekends for the head coaching job
and bought a black suit and a silver tie. But
if Jerry Jones is the last person you see, you're
probably staying. And I ended up staying in two thousand
and three. But this Paul Kelly was with us picked

(20:56):
me up at the airport in Oakland, and it's a
story franchise just like we are. And that's what makes
uh this division unique. And I'm getting to appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
Well, we're in the growth process of that.

Speaker 9 (21:12):
You now you're started to take game where maybe you're
getting the dictates or earlier.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
To be able to turn that.

Speaker 6 (21:16):
It's all it's all learning, you know.

Speaker 9 (21:18):
I mean, there's it's it's you can only do so
much in the simulator. Like and then all of a sudden,
this all this is what happened today, and both of
us like, all right, man, we needed to be better
in relative relative to this. They had a couple of
corners out, you know, and so you know, we go

(21:38):
from expecting maybe a lot of.

Speaker 6 (21:40):
Zone coverage to like, here comes zero pressure.

Speaker 9 (21:42):
And uh so we made some plays though in the
second half with it, and uh we made enough place
I felt, well, the first play of the game was zero,
then played like three was zero, and then I thought,
all right, and I've worked with Rob Ryan and I

(22:04):
you know, and so and then after about the six
snap of zero in the game, your head drops down
to all the stuff that you know can handle that
and attack it. And even like the big play I
thought was Mims's third down in the backfield.

Speaker 6 (22:20):
He was in the pistol.

Speaker 9 (22:21):
He was a quick count and we got pressure and
he dumped it to Mems and there was no one
on him.

Speaker 6 (22:27):
That was a really big play in the game.

Speaker 9 (22:29):
I think it was third and eight, third and seven,
and that later led to Sutton's touchdown.

Speaker 6 (22:35):
And so it's not a game where you're gonna throw
for seventy two.

Speaker 9 (22:42):
You've just got to hit some big plays, and we
made enough of them. Well, I think, look it, anytime
you lose one of your top corners, it changes things.
We still had our Bowers plan that involved Pat and
and and.

Speaker 6 (23:02):
And some doubles. But look, Levi came.

Speaker 9 (23:06):
In and it was the next man up, and uh, unfortunately.

Speaker 6 (23:12):
It wasn't really serious with Riley.

Speaker 9 (23:15):
You know, it's it's an m c L that I'm
not gonna I'm not gonna give any We'll.

Speaker 6 (23:19):
See how next week was.

Speaker 9 (23:21):
There was some thought that maybe he could go back in,
so we'll see where it's at. Yeah, it wasn't gonna be.
That's right, because it's hard if you're a corner. Well,
the first thing is if Pat ends up inside right away,

(23:41):
it's a man tel and so there's it was. There
were calls credit Vance and his staff for for doing
a good job of that. You know, he this guy's
had a lot of catches. I don't know how many
had today for but there weren't a lot of yards
and shoot the first catch he had against this in Denver.

Speaker 6 (24:04):
So that look, that was good. Thank you?

Speaker 1 (24:08):
All right, there you go.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
Sean Payton speaking of the media following today's game. You're
listening to Broncos React and it's brought to you by
Children's Hospital of Colorado Official Children's Hospital of the Denver Broncos.
Let's steak at a couple of calls here before we
hit the break, and we go first to Michael in Denver.
You're up next year on Broncos React with Ryan Edwards.
Was up, Michael, Oh what's up?

Speaker 6 (24:30):
Hey?

Speaker 11 (24:30):
Thanks for taking my call. Just a couple a couple
of things that I just wanted to try to point out.
And I'm not a negative on this, but you know,
Sean and Sean have in my opinion, needs to do
a better job with you know, the play calling complimentary
to what Vance is trying to do, and that was

(24:52):
never advanced guy but he has moved the needle, uh
really immensely for m me and I just think that
Sean is play calling a lot of times is not
It's just not helping.

Speaker 6 (25:07):
His defensive play out even though they.

Speaker 11 (25:11):
Are doing, you know well. And then another thing that
I think they could really really improve on is let's
narrow down our running game and let's decide, you know,
who's going to be our bellcal and this running back
by Tom Many is not shown itself.

Speaker 9 (25:28):
To be that effective.

Speaker 11 (25:29):
Well, what's your thoughts?

Speaker 2 (25:31):
Yeah, listen, Michael, I appreciate the call. I actually don't
completely disagree with you. First of all, I mean the
other the uncompletions are tough. I mean, if you if
you complete those passes and you get the first down,
then we're sitting here going wow, he's so aggressive and
what a great game plan and call there under the circumstances.
But it's a risk reward thing. And I'm with you,
man at that point, I would like to run some clock.

(25:52):
It would be more complimentary to your defense, which is
a very good defense. But was having a bit of
a tough day against the Raiders. The Raiders removing the ball,
I mean they ended up on the day. Now, some
of this was quote unquote maybe garbage time, but they
got three hundred passing yards. We'll see your total offense.
I mean they got three hundred and sixty nine yards
against you, and I mean this is an offense that

(26:14):
usually averages two hundred and eighty five. So the Raiders
were moving the ball against ostensibly one of the best
defenses in the league, and probably wouldn't have gotten as
much run out there. If the Broncos did run some
clock there or at least force them to burn their
timeouts again, you end up winning by ten points. Don't
want to get too nitpicky, but it is something that

(26:36):
I think is worth discussing.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
As far as the bell cow back goes, I don't know.
I do.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
I do tend to appreciate the hot hand approach unless
you've got Sakwon Barkley or Derrek Henry or one of
these elite guys.

Speaker 6 (26:49):
And me.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
You saw Josh Jacobs, who the Broncos, by the way,
went after in the offseason, So if he was your
running back, then of course he'd be getting the majority
of the touches. But the point of it is here
is Jeliel mclough I thought was the best running back
for the team, and if we just settled in on, hey,
it's going to be a Javonte Williams game, where it's
going to be a Nodric estimate game, well, then Jalil

(27:10):
wouldn't have gotten very much run today. He got seven
carries for forty four yards. He averaged six point three
per carry on a day that they averaged as a
team two point nine. So by that account, they actually
should have just given the ball to Jalil McLoughlin, who
had his best game of the season. More But once again,
if you go by the mindset of well, we we

(27:30):
got to pick a guy and settle on that, well,
then Jalil wouldn't touch the ball today because he has
not been their best running back. So you know, we go,
we go back and forth. I think it's a good
point though. The running game was not good enough overall today,
so that needs to be a continued thing that they
look at. People have been texting in about how when
you get into the postseason and you want to play

(27:50):
good defense, you want to be able to run the ball.
You want to be multiple more than anything, and that's
something that the Broncos have been inconsistent at I mean,
on the season of the Broncos offense is twenty averaging
one hundred and sixteen rushing yards per game.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
It's not good enough, but you're also seven and five.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
So again, sort of results conversation, we say we're happy
with where they're at right now, and we move on.
Let's get one more call in Ryan, and Indianapolis is
up next here on Broncos React.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
What's up Ryan?

Speaker 10 (28:18):
Hey, Ryan, how you doing? Man, going to talk to
you again.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
Good to talk to you.

Speaker 10 (28:21):
Quick, quick, quick question. I missed the beginning of the game.
What's going on with Zach Allen? I didn't see that
he was out until obviously I turned it on.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
Yeah, he was at a boot and he came into
the game with a questionable mark on it with the
heel injury.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
So they didn't give us much more than that.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
And obviously we found out that it is an MCL
but doesn't sound too significant for Riley Moss. But yeah,
that's it's a heel injury. So we'll see what his
practice reports look like this week.

Speaker 10 (28:51):
Gotcha okay? Well, hey, great win today. Always good to
get a division win, always good to you know, beat
the Raiders. And you know, you've been talking about this
all week, and I think I've been watching football for
many years, but just the whole week by week in
the NFL, I mean that is just so true. And
so just to get a win today even though we
didn't necessarily play our basketball, I mean, look big, remember

(29:11):
when the Broncos we couldn't score twenty points? It just
feels like those days are long gone. It's the Bote
and Paid era. Now this team is kind of humming,
you know, seven and five. And think about this too.
Will Lett's great today deserves its flowers. Five for five,
probably will be Player of the week. I mean, isn't
it nice that we're seeing week after week after week

(29:32):
the Broncos are represented in the NFL Players of the
Week just for their performances. So all it comes back.
So I think there was a previous call that I mentioned,
like we just have a professional organization. Now, kudos to
the owners. This is a result of just good culture.
A great coach who is legitimately gets a ten point
winning it's a division rival and has kicked off about

(29:53):
a special teams play, and just like that's the type
of competitiveness that you need. That's the type of just
person you want running the organization versus what we had before.
Were worried about what kind of we were playing in
the locker room. So I'll leave you with this, Ryan,
I got a seven year old daughter and I would
never take the cake back to the store. You're the
man you next week?

Speaker 2 (30:11):
Thank you, Ryan, Right, Nick Ferguson, if you're listening returning cake?

Speaker 1 (30:17):
Who does that? Great call?

Speaker 6 (30:19):
Ryan?

Speaker 1 (30:20):
Appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Yeah, And it was great to hear Sean Payton in
his postgame interview with Dave how angry he was. They
said they practiced it, they said they were aware that
the Raiders are probably gonna do it, and it still happened.
So I do love that competitive nature of Sean Payton.
By the way, the Rams Eagles game Sunday Night Football
is underway, no score with seven to fifty four million.

(30:42):
In the first quarter of the Rams driving down the field,
Karen Williams fumbles the ball to the Eagles, now right
back down the field and their goal to go at
the eight yard line for the La Rams. We'll keep
you posting on that game as it moves along. We
did find out after the fact that Gardner Minshew broke
his collarbone in the game, so he has done for
the year.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
There's a lot of.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Speculation maybe Daniel Jones would be a fit there for
the Raiders for remainder of the year. They're two to
nine teams, so not really playing for anything, but they
could bring him.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
In see what he's got.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
Potential extension candidate or if nothing else, you get a
compensatory pick for him leaving in free agency. Three out

Speaker 6 (31:34):

Speaker 7 (31:36):
Broncos get a good jump or man pressure Radder.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
Has the ball deflected.

Speaker 7 (31:39):
It is free thounsand around and recovered by the Broncos.
That ball knocked away by Nick Bonito, recovered by Malcolm
Roach and Denver with their second huge turnover of the game.
They've got the football at the Raider seventeen yard line.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
A big stripsacked there from Nick Benito, and the Broncos
ended up with five sacks today. For every sack made
in today's game, the Dan Caplis Law firm will make
a general donation to Denra Catholic Charities, which services more
than fifty thousand homeless annually. For more ways to sack homelessness,

Speaker 1 (32:33):
To the game.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
And by the way, that got Dick Benito to ten sacks.
Ten sacks on the season, he's now double digit. Was
the first time since twenty eighteen the Broncos have had
a double digit sack person on the ruster and by
the way, they still have a chance to have a
couple of them. I think Jonathan Cooper is in range there,
if I'm not mistaken. He's got six and a half.
I don't want to see what he got today. I
know him and Cody Barton were in on a half sack,

(32:58):
so he got a half today.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
So he's up. So plenty of time.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
There plenty of time, Nick, Benito, Jonah Ellis, Malcolm Roach.
They all got sacks and he O Wiser Rik got
credited with a half sack with DJ Jones. That was one,
and then again Cooper and Barton got each half a
sack again three oh three seven one, three eighty five,
eighty five, five six, six nine zero. Let's read a
couple of texts here, beat Fresh in Seattle High Ryan,

(33:22):
huge Broncos fan, but flowers to Max Crosby for being
a game wrecker. Also two big league throws by Nicks
on the touchdowns, especially the game winner to Suddon, great.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
Show, Thank you, sir.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
We are hoping to We are going to struggle even
to get past the season if we don't figure out
how to run the ball more effectively. It is concerning.
But man, I'm loving our team's fight and finding ways
to win. Hope, Zach and Riley are okay. Go Broncos
ste Y Monument. Keep in mind this year is solely
for twenty twenty five. Yeah, I mean that was a
conversation I think we got into coming into the season

(33:54):
that you know, sort of, whatever happened this year, you
were you're ultimately building for twenty twenty five. But once again,
you know, in the NFL, there's in a lot of ways,
there's no such thing, right, I mean, I think we
say those kinds of things with a relatively young roster,
with a rookie quarterback, especially if you see growth, even
if there are some struggle moments. The struggle moments seem

(34:15):
to be in the rearview mirror for bo Nix and
mostly this offense. So I think now it's more in
terms of what can you accomplish this year to sort
of build for the future, but also why not try
to win games? Now you're in control of your own
destiny with an opportunity to go to the postseason for
the first time since twenty sixteen. I don't think you're
gonna waste that opportunity. I don't see that happening with

(34:38):
this Denver team. Back to the phones, k c in
aries up next to your on Broncos react, what's up?

Speaker 1 (34:44):
Case Hey, good evening, Ryan Hey.

Speaker 8 (34:48):
As a Buffalo Bills fan, I'm very excited for the Broncos.
I live here in Colorado, but you know, if the
plays were to start today, we would play Denver in Buffalo.
But what I'd like to see you guys do is
take PC out, make them the two seed. You guys

(35:10):
go on a little run and possibly, you know, AFC
Championship would be in Buffalo as as a one seed.
But you never know what happens.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Yeah, you never know what happens.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
I appreciate the call, and yeah, your Bills look good
and they have a right to say they might be
the best team in the AFC. They're on by of
course this week, which is it's a good place to
be get a chance to rest up.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
But yeah, I'm with you, man.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
I think the Buffalo Bills, the Broncos wouldn't want to
see them in the first round. I think if you're,
you know, sort of picking teams, it's pretty early. You
still have five games to play. But I think if
you're picking teams, Kansas City seems to be a team that,
despite their pedigree, despite their ability to win the way
they do in the postseason, did they seem to be
a team that is a bit flawed, right, now close

(36:00):
game today against Carolina, close, close game. It was a
tie twenty seven, But of course the Chiefs being who
they are, they drove down the field, they kicked the
game winning field goal, and that's just kind of what
they do. But they've been in some interesting games this year.
I'd say the Steelers an the team that is a
little bit of mixed on what we believe they are.
But once again, I mean, there seems to be so

(36:22):
much time still left. I mean, I thought just a
couple of weeks ago the Ravens were like the best
team in football, and they've now lost a couple of games,
and they've they've seemed to stumble a little bit.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
But that was the team that I sort.

Speaker 2 (36:35):
Of pinged as like, Okay, this is a this is
a really good team, but here we are. There's seven
and four, I believe last time I checked. See yes,
seven and four, the UH Chargers seven and three. Big
game tomorrow night between the Ravens and Chargers a Harbaugh Bowl.
That'll be a chance to sort of talk about that
on KIA Sports tomorrow. Today's game is presented by Sam's

(36:56):
Number three Diner and bar. Go there to cure your
resting brunch face.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
Love those guys the best. Back to the phones, Alex
in Aland's Ranch. What's up, Alex?

Speaker 12 (37:07):
How are you doing?

Speaker 13 (37:07):
Ryan?

Speaker 1 (37:08):
I'm great, Alex. What's going on?

Speaker 6 (37:09):
Man?

Speaker 12 (37:10):
I think that the Broncos. The one thing I noticed
in the game is they're using Marmon millions correctly. They're
putting in the back so a little bit, which I
feel like if it's hard for them, they get a
running game. But Marvin Mins that do you think they're
using Marvin Mims correctly?

Speaker 6 (37:25):
I think?

Speaker 2 (37:25):
I mean, I like some of the return we're seeing
on it right. I mean that that was such a
big play the thirty seven yard or down the two
yard line. They ended up punching in it with the
touchdown to Courtland Sudden. That was a massive play. He's
obviously still big on punt returns at a twenty two
yarder today and I'd say over just over the last
three weeks, you just like a little bit more of that.
And man, he's got some speed. I mean when he

(37:46):
got the ball in the open field on that catch
and run for on third and five, that was a
that was a big time play and he was up
there in a.

Speaker 1 (37:53):
Hurry, so yeah, I do. I would say I like it.

Speaker 2 (37:55):
I think there's still more room to do more with him,
but I liked the finally using him, if that makes sense.

Speaker 12 (38:03):
Also, I was I was thinking, I wondered, since Riley
Mosque got hurt today, do you think that's going to
really affect that the Broncos defense, like their formation said,
that's on defense. Now, if Moss maybe is he out
for this year with it, is it a twenty cl.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Or no, it's an MCL and Coach Payton said in
the press the postgame press conference, they don't believe it's significant,
and there's even talk about maybe him coming back into
the game. So I would hold off on any doomsday
opinions on what's going on with Riley Moss just yet.

Speaker 12 (38:37):
And then how do you think Denver's gonna really get
this running game going? Since they only got sixty four
yards of total ground on the running game and Javon
Taylor negative two yards rushing, is that going to be
a big effect or should they just start orodrec Estimy
and Jilim McGoff and.

Speaker 4 (38:52):
It looks like what that did been doing.

Speaker 12 (38:53):
Should they just start more of a run pass option
or RPO? Action more and see what happens with running game,
or pick someone up in free agency.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Yeah, I don't think about picking up anybody in free
agency at this point. I'm not that concerned with it.
I do think that they have enough between these three
running backs. Again, we talked about a little bit earlier.
Thanks for the call ags. We talked a little bit
a little bit earlier and just said that they're going
with a bit of a hot hand approach. Jalil McLoughlin
was the guy today, and I thought Jalil McLoughlin in

(39:25):
the offseason looked like the best running back on the roster.
Now there's been some games where Javonte's been the best guy.
There's been a game where Odric was the best guy.
They seem to really settle in on this. I know
that it's a little bit frustrating for fantasy football people
out there, but I'm not terribly worried about it.

Speaker 1 (39:45):
It's one game.

Speaker 2 (39:47):
The overall it's not good enough, but they're really becoming
more dynamic in the passing game, and that that right there,
I think you can continue to build off of.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
Let's get one more call carry as a win.

Speaker 13 (40:01):
I congratulate the Broncos beating the Dreaded Raiders twice, and
in the Broncos history, how many wins and losses did
the Broncos have against the Raiders and how long did
Ken Stabler be the quarterback of the Raiders. I just

(40:23):
wanting to know some history because I loved learning about
the history stuff on players.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
Okay, I'll do the best I can to research that.
You always challenged me with some some things to research.
The Broncos and Raiders have played one hundred and thirty
one times via Google, and the Raiders lead the series
seventy three, fifty six and two. I have to look
how many years Ken s Taylor played for the Raiders.
But that's that's what Google told me right off the bat.

let's hear I want to make sure he didn't read
that one. If you guys ignore everything, I say, let's
acknowledge Nix's brains to be able to learn Max Crosby
so quickly after just one prior game Nicks learned Crosby

(41:16):
and did more to eliminate him than the entire offensive
line did. Yeah, that's a you know, early on that
seemed like it was gonna be a big time problem
because Mike McGlinchey had two holds and a false start
against Max Crosby, and that that was a I mean again,
you're kind of like, Okay, well, you know he's a problem,

(41:37):
but don't make it a worse problem. But he didn't
record a sack today, like, not not one, And that's
that's something that is pretty rare. I mean, Broncos fans,
you guys have been watching this team long enough. The
asack went to Tyree Wilson. And there's a fantastic a
stare down that Bo Nicks has with uh with Tyree
