the end, and I love I love what Sean said,

first of all, he said a year ago, they probably
don't win this game. But he said a month from now,
we're gonna look back on this and people aren't gonna

be thinking about some of the problems on special teams,
or maybe the way that it kind of ended where
the Raiders kept them ourselves. Indn't know they're going to
look back into save the Broncos gotta win. They swept
the series against the Raiders, and I couldn't agree more.

that I was really interested to see how the Broncos
would handle success. And in the first half I really
did not like what I saw. The Raiders seemed like
they were playing with a lot more passion. I mean,
they're playing like it was their Super Bowl. And the
thing that I'm really proud of is that it seems
like the team they really weathered the storm and they

came out at the half with renewed attitude. And to me,
that speaks about Bonix right because if you don't believe
that you have a quarterback who can help get you
back into the game, if you don't have confidence that
you can get back into the game, that I don't
think that you see that same amount of confidence coming

back in the second half. So I love what I saw.
I love Sean Payton kind of echoed that in his
comments with Dave when he said, we don't win that
game last year. So to me, that's all about bo Nix,
and I love it quietly. We scored twenty nine points.
How many games over the past four or five years
have we just like screamed if we could only score

like twenty one or two points, that we could have
won the game. And here it is. It feels like
we didn't play the best game that we could have played,
and we put twenty nine up on the board. So
I love what's happening with this team right now. It
doesn't have to look great every week, Like I said
last week, he I think it's kind of unreasonable.

But it's really nice to go into games knowing that, hey,
we can go out there and score. You know, he

It's not often we lead off our postgame reaction with
a kicker conversation, but he went five for five, And
as you just pointed out there, Brad scoring twenty nine
points gets there by the fact that he made two
fifty plus yard field goals in the game, which was

obviously a big time to have a fifty three yard
and a fifty four yarder. He made all of them,
including a couple late that they really had to have
to sort of keep the Raiders at bay to keep
the game script in their favor.

So it's one of those things where you know you're right.

Twenty ninety for a team that scores twenty one point
four on the season, which is twentieth to score twenty nineteen,
and I love score twenty nine, and I love your
point ultimately about how this is what it needs, I mean,
what it takes right. This is a complimentary football and
for the Broncos to be able to do that today,
if you to scored your season average, yet that would

have been enough, but it probably wouldn't have in some
ways because the Raiders, especially in the fourth quarter, were
really moving the ball. And I guess that's a bigger
topic that may be a little bit of a topic
that we're going to get into a bit here about
how the Raiders really.

Were finding some success with the Broncos. They bent, they
didn't break.

They gave up only those three points, well six points
in the fourth quarter, but they gave up those three
points when again, if the Broncos hadn't converted those field goals,
that might have been the difference in the game.

Another thing that I think well probably get into a
little bit tonight is the running attack. Sixty three rushes
on twenty two carries for two point nine per carry.

Better, especially against a Las Vegas Raiders team that really
hadn't been great against the run, giving up over one
hundred and twenty five rushing yards per game. Like to
have been a little bit better there, but once again,
the game plan clearly was to be attacking through the air.

twelve and thirteen. You're right if the Broncos would have

if they would have lost, if they would have won
that game, that could have been detrimental. Raiders would have

and he's an afterthought as we're winning. I would say
he's a complete afterthought. But I agreed, it's not being
talked about enough. And you think about a lot of

the players that were making plays today. I mean, this
rookie class is really been sensational. Devon Veley out there,
Troy Franklin had a couple of catches, ownA Ellis came
up with the game winning sack right there, and then
of course you have Malcolm Roach who recovered a fumble,
had a sack, and Brandon Jones who had an interception.

got cut. So amazing, amazing coaching job by Sean Payton.

but I am a brown nose, there's something to go
back and just give kudos to our owners because thank
thank thank god, we finally have owners that care. So
we replace the turf, we get in new uniforms, we
do all the things we ship pay Sean Payton. God
knows how much Shompayn's making, but that's the truths on

Defensively, man, we battled with especially with some some short fields.
You know, we met tuesday as a staff and it
wasn't a matter if it was when they were going
to run a fake punt, you know, when you're struggling
as a team like this. We we had it on
the keys to victory and so at them. They executed it.

Then they get a kick, you know. So our defense
defended i'd say a lot of minus situations where and
they handled it well. Offensively, we struggled in the first half.
We got a lot of cover zero, a lot of blitz,
a lot of pressure, a lot more than we expected
and which made it hard to run the ball obviously

with some of those looks. So the second half, though,
we battled back. I think we were one of something
third down in the first half, and then the second
half we just had to we had to beat the pressure.
And you know, a year ago we don't win that game,
and so you know, it wasn't our best, but it

was good enough and we're on to the next one.
So we'll have a lot to clean up. But it
was good to handle these guys for a second time.
Any questions, They aren't the games almost I think I
said this to them. You know, the the elite teams

in seventeen regular season games will be really ready ready
for thirteen or fourteen of those games, and then the
ones that they're not, they still find a way to win,
and they may lose a few, but they find a
way still. And and I said, I said to them today,
you know, our team a year ago doesn't win this game,
but this team did. And uh and you built, you

built some grit. We won the turnover battle again. You know,
we were the better team today and we didn't always
play like it. But we'll get those those things cleaned
up one or time.

about last year. This team. This team's entirely different.

but turnover skin and those really proved to be the difference,
and they will in most games. But I thought we
we handled the run game. You know, they give you
some eye candy motion stuff we missed. We missed a
few relative with coverage assignments.

we've got to be better with our plan. But I

don't like when they can dictate, you know, relative to
what we do. And I probably should have gotten in
some heavier personnel groupings. But but we really felt we
had some matchup advantages and we took we took advantage
of them. Courtland played tremendous. We had other opportunities. But

and Credit, you know, Credit Vegas. They came out and
and had some fire about them, but they lost your
receiver getting Yeah, yeah, they just they they're healthier, longer,
they're built for this game.

But that doesn't mean we're opposed to a smaller receiver.

The smaller receivers have to walk on water, though, and
then then we're excited about them. So all of those
guys weren't in on the action today. And and look,

I thought we had a good week of practice. I

We beat him twice this year, I hadn't beaten You know,
we're focused on the next game. Obviously the division games matter.
And listen the appreciation for beating the Raiders. I mean
I listen. At a young age, was fortunate to interview

and bought a black suit and a silver tie. But
if Jerry Jones is the last person you see, you're
probably staying. And I ended up staying in two thousand
and three. But this Paul Kelly was with us picked

me up at the airport in Oakland, and it's a
story franchise just like we are. And that's what makes
uh this division unique. And I'm getting to appreciate that.

second half with it, and uh we made enough place
I felt, well, the first play of the game was zero,

snap of zero in the game, your head drops down
to all the stuff that you know can handle that
and attack it. And even like the big play I
thought was Mims's third down in the backfield.

he dumped it to Mems and there was no one
on him.

to what Vance is trying to do, and that was

never advanced guy but he has moved the needle, uh
really immensely for m me and I just think that
Sean is play calling a lot of times is not
It's just not helping.

His defensive play out even though they.

Are doing, you know well. And then another thing that
I think they could really really improve on is let's
narrow down our running game and let's decide, you know,
who's going to be our bellcal and this running back
by Tom Many is not shown itself.

To be that effective.

Well, what's your thoughts?

Yeah, listen, Michael, I appreciate the call. I actually don't
completely disagree with you. First of all, I mean the
other the uncompletions are tough. I mean, if you if
you complete those passes and you get the first down,
then we're sitting here going wow, he's so aggressive and
what a great game plan and call there under the circumstances.
But it's a risk reward thing. And I'm with you,
man at that point, I would like to run some clock.

It would be more complimentary to your defense, which is
a very good defense. But was having a bit of
a tough day against the Raiders. The Raiders removing the ball,
I mean they ended up on the day. Now, some
of this was quote unquote maybe garbage time, but they
got three hundred passing yards. We'll see your total offense.
I mean they got three hundred and sixty nine yards
against you, and I mean this is an offense that

usually averages two hundred and eighty five. So the Raiders
were moving the ball against ostensibly one of the best
defenses in the league, and probably wouldn't have gotten as
much run out there. If the Broncos did run some
clock there or at least force them to burn their
timeouts again, you end up winning by ten points. Don't
want to get too nitpicky, but it is something that

I think is worth discussing.

it's going to be a Javonte Williams game, where it's
going to be a Nodric estimate game, well, then Jalil

wouldn't have gotten very much run today. He got seven
carries for forty four yards. He averaged six point three
per carry on a day that they averaged as a
team two point nine. So by that account, they actually
should have just given the ball to Jalil McLoughlin, who
had his best game of the season. More But once again,
if you go by the mindset of well, we we
(27:30):
got to pick a guy and settle on that, well,
then Jalil wouldn't touch the ball today because he has
not been their best running back. So you know, we go,
we go back and forth. I think it's a good
point though. The running game was not good enough overall today,
so that needs to be a continued thing that they
look at. People have been texting in about how when
you get into the postseason and you want to play

good defense, you want to be able to run the ball.
You want to be multiple more than anything, and that's
something that the Broncos have been inconsistent at I mean,
on the season of the Broncos offense is twenty averaging
one hundred and sixteen rushing yards per game.

It's not good enough, but you're also seven and five.

So again, sort of results conversation, we say we're happy
with where they're at right now, and we move on.

like we just have a professional organization. Now, kudos to

a special teams play, and just like that's the type
of competitiveness that you need. That's the type of just
person you want running the organization versus what we had before.

like the team they really weathered the storm and they

came out at the half with renewed attitude. And to me,
that speaks about Bonix right because if you don't believe
that you have a quarterback who can help get you
back into the game, if you don't have confidence that
you can get back into the game, that I don't
think that you see that same amount of confidence coming

back in the second half. So I love what I saw.
I love Sean Payton kind of echoed that in his
comments with Dave when he said, we don't win that
game last year. So to me, that's all about bo Nix,
and I love it quietly. We scored twenty nine points.
How many games over the past four or five years
have we just like screamed if we could only score

like twenty one or two points, that we could have
won the game. And here it is. It feels like
we didn't play the best game that we could have played,
and we put twenty nine up on the board. So
I love what's happening with this team right now. It
doesn't have to look great every week, Like I said
last week, he I think it's kind of unreasonable.

To expect that.

But it's really nice to go into games knowing that, hey,
we can go out there and score. You know, he
scored twenty nine points without really playing our best, our
best football and win a division game on the road.

It's not often we lead off our postgame reaction with
a kicker conversation, but he went five for five, And
as you just pointed out there, Brad scoring twenty nine
points gets there by the fact that he made two
fifty plus yard field goals in the game, which was

obviously a big time to have a fifty three yard
and a fifty four yarder. He made all of them,
including a couple late that they really had to have
to sort of keep the Raiders at bay to keep
the game script in their favor.

So it's one of those things where you know you're right.

Twenty ninety for a team that scores twenty one point
four on the season, which is twentieth to score twenty nineteen,
and I love score twenty nine, and I love your
point ultimately about how this is what it needs, I mean,
what it takes right. This is a complimentary football and
for the Broncos to be able to do that today,
if you to scored your season average, yet that would

have been enough, but it probably wouldn't have in some
ways because the Raiders, especially in the fourth quarter, were
really moving the ball. And I guess that's a bigger
topic that may be a little bit of a topic
that we're going to get into a bit here about
how the Raiders really.

Were finding some success with the Broncos. They bent, they
didn't break.

They gave up only those three points, well six points
in the fourth quarter, but they gave up those three
points when again, if the Broncos hadn't converted those field goals,

Again, big win, big win all across the board.

Another thing that I think well probably get into a
little bit tonight is the running attack. Sixty three rushes
on twenty two carries for two point nine per carry.

Better, especially against a Las Vegas Raiders team that really
hadn't been great against the run, giving up over one

rookie class is really been sensational. Devon Veley out there,
Troy Franklin had a couple of catches, ownA Ellis came
up with the game winning sack right there, and then
of course you have Malcolm Roach who recovered a fumble,

Defensively, man, we battled with especially with some some short fields.
You know, we met tuesday as a staff and it
wasn't a matter if it was when they were going
to run a fake punt, you know, when you're struggling
as a team like this. We we had it on
the keys to victory and so at them. They executed it.

Then they get a kick, you know. So our defense
defended i'd say a lot of minus situations where and
they handled it well. Offensively, we struggled in the first half.
We got a lot of cover zero, a lot of blitz,
a lot of pressure, a lot more than we expected
and which made it hard to run the ball obviously

with some of those looks. So the second half, though,
we battled back. I think we were one of something
third down in the first half, and then the second
half we just had to we had to beat the pressure.
And you know, a year ago we don't win that game,
and so you know, it wasn't our best, but it

was good enough and we're on to the next one.
So we'll have a lot to clean up. But it
was good to handle these guys for a second time.

in seventeen regular season games will be really ready ready
for thirteen or fourteen of those games, and then the
ones that they're not, they still find a way to win,
and they may lose a few, but they find a

we were the better team today and we didn't always
play like it. But we'll get those those things cleaned

don't like when they can dictate, you know, relative to
what we do. And I probably should have gotten in
some heavier personnel groupings. But but we really felt we
had some matchup advantages and we took we took advantage
of them. Courtland played tremendous. We had other opportunities. But

and Credit, you know, Credit Vegas. They came out and
and had some fire about them, but they lost your
receiver getting Yeah, yeah, they just they they're healthier, longer,
they're built for this game.

But that doesn't mean we're opposed to a smaller receiver.

The smaller receivers have to walk on water, though, and
then then we're excited about them. So all of those
guys weren't in on the action today. And and look,

we going to respond? You know coming here? You know,
I thought we had a good week of practice. I

these players weren't here, you exercise these demons like hadn't

We beat him twice this year, I hadn't beaten You know,
we're focused on the next game. Obviously the division games matter.
And listen the appreciation for beating the Raiders. I mean

and bought a black suit and a silver tie. But
if Jerry Jones is the last person you see, you're
probably staying. And I ended up staying in two thousand

story franchise just like we are. And that's what makes
uh this division unique. And I'm getting to appreciate that.

second half with it, and uh we made enough place

you know, and so and then after about the six
snap of zero in the game, your head drops down
to all the stuff that you know can handle that
and attack it. And even like the big play I
thought was Mims's third down in the backfield.

He was a quick count and we got pressure and
he dumped it to Mems and there was no one
on him.

That was a really big play in the game.

And so it's not a game where you're gonna throw

I think they could really really improve on is let's
narrow down our running game and let's decide, you know,
who's going to be our bellcal and this running back
by Tom Many is not shown itself.

To be that effective.

Well, what's your thoughts?
Speaker 2 (25:31):
Yeah, listen, Michael, I appreciate the call. I actually don't
completely disagree with you. First of all, I mean the
other the uncompletions are tough. I mean, if you if
you complete those passes and you get the first down,
then we're sitting here going wow, he's so aggressive and
what a great game plan and call there under the circumstances.
But it's a risk reward thing. And I'm with you,
man at that point, I would like to run some clock.
(25:52):
It would be more complimentary to your defense, which is
a very good defense. But was having a bit of
a tough day against the Raiders. The Raiders removing the ball,
I mean they ended up on the day. Now, some
of this was quote unquote maybe garbage time, but they
got three hundred passing yards. We'll see your total offense.
I mean they got three hundred and sixty nine yards
against you, and I mean this is an offense that
(26:14):
usually averages two hundred and eighty five. So the Raiders
were moving the ball against ostensibly one of the best
defenses in the league, and probably wouldn't have gotten as
much run out there. If the Broncos did run some
clock there or at least force them to burn their
timeouts again, you end up winning by ten points. Don't
want to get too nitpicky, but it is something that
(26:36):
I think is worth discussing.

As far as the bell cow back goes, I don't know.
I do.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
I do tend to appreciate the hot hand approach unless
you've got Sakwon Barkley or Derrek Henry or one of
these elite guys.

You saw Josh Jacobs, who the Broncos, by the way,
went after in the offseason, So if he was your
running back, then of course he'd be getting the majority
of the touches. But the point of it is here
is Jeliel mclough I thought was the best running back
for the team, and if we just settled in on, hey,
it's going to be a Javonte Williams game, where it's
going to be a Nodric estimate game, well, then Jalil
(27:10):
wouldn't have gotten very much run today. He got seven
carries for forty four yards. He averaged six point three
per carry on a day that they averaged as a
team two point nine. So by that account, they actually
should have just given the ball to Jalil McLoughlin, who
had his best game of the season. More But once again,
if you go by the mindset of well, we we
(27:30):
got to pick a guy and settle on that, well,
then Jalil wouldn't touch the ball today because he has
not been their best running back. So you know, we go,
we go back and forth. I think it's a good
point though. The running game was not good enough overall today,
so that needs to be a continued thing that they
look at. People have been texting in about how when
you get into the postseason and you want to play
(27:50):
good defense, you want to be able to run the ball.
You want to be multiple more than anything, and that's
something that the Broncos have been inconsistent at I mean,
on the season of the Broncos offense is twenty averaging
one hundred and sixteen rushing yards per game.

It's not good enough, but you're also seven and five.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
So again, sort of results conversation, we say we're happy
with where they're at right now, and we move on.

when the Broncos we couldn't score twenty points? It just
feels like those days are long gone. It's the Bote
and Paid era. Now this team is kind of humming,

Will Lett's great today deserves its flowers. Five for five,
probably will be Player of the week. I mean, isn't
it nice that we're seeing week after week after week

the Broncos are represented in the NFL Players of the
Week just for their performances. So all it comes back.
So I think there was a previous call that I mentioned,
like we just have a professional organization. Now, kudos to
the owners. This is a result of just good culture.
A great coach who is legitimately gets a ten point
winning it's a division rival and has kicked off about

a special teams play, and just like that's the type
of competitiveness that you need. That's the type of just
person you want running the organization versus what we had before.

if there are some struggle moments. The struggle moments seem

to be in the rearview mirror for bo Nix and
mostly this offense. So I think now it's more in
terms of what can you accomplish this year to sort
of build for the future, but also why not try
to win games? Now you're in control of your own
destiny with an opportunity to go to the postseason for
the first time since twenty sixteen. I don't think you're
gonna waste that opportunity. I don't see that happening with

I think the Buffalo Bills, the Broncos wouldn't want to
see them in the first round. I think if you're,
you know, sort of picking teams, it's pretty early. You
still have five games to play. But I think if
you're picking teams, Kansas City seems to be a team that,
despite their pedigree, despite their ability to win the way
they do in the postseason, did they seem to be
a team that is a bit flawed, right, now close

game today against Carolina, close, close game. It was a
tie twenty seven, But of course the Chiefs being who
they are, they drove down the field, they kicked the
game winning field goal, and that's just kind of what
they do. But they've been in some interesting games this year.
I'd say the Steelers an the team that is a
little bit of mixed on what we believe they are.
But once again, I mean, there seems to be so

much time still left. I mean, I thought just a
couple of weeks ago the Ravens were like the best
team in football, and they've now lost a couple of games,
and they've they've seemed to stumble a little bit.

Of pinged as like, Okay, this is a this is
a really good team, but here we are. There's seven
and four, I believe last time I checked. See yes,

I mean, I like some of the return we're seeing
on it right. I mean that that was such a
big play the thirty seven yard or down the two
yard line. They ended up punching in it with the
touchdown to Courtland Sudden. That was a massive play. He's
obviously still big on punt returns at a twenty two
yarder today and I'd say over just over the last
three weeks, you just like a little bit more of that.
And man, he's got some speed. I mean when he

got the ball in the open field on that catch
and run for on third and five, that was a
that was a big time play and he was up
there in a.

I think there's still more room to do more with him,
but I liked the finally using him, if that makes sense.

Also, I was I was thinking, I wondered, since Riley
Mosque got hurt today, do you think that's going to
really affect that the Broncos defense, like their formation said,
that's on defense. Now, if Moss maybe is he out
for this year with it, is it a twenty cl.

Or no, it's an MCL and Coach Payton said in
the press the postgame press conference, they don't believe it's significant,
and there's even talk about maybe him coming back into
the game. So I would hold off on any doomsday
opinions on what's going on with Riley Moss just yet.

And then how do you think Denver's gonna really get
this running game going? Since they only got sixty four
yards of total ground on the running game and Javon
Taylor negative two yards rushing, is that going to be
a big effect or should they just start orodrec Estimy
and Jilim McGoff and.

It looks like what that did been doing.

Should they just start more of a run pass option
or RPO? Action more and see what happens with running game,
or pick someone up in free agency.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Yeah, I don't think about picking up anybody in free
agency at this point. I'm not that concerned with it.
I do think that they have enough between these three
running backs. Again, we talked about a little bit earlier.

a little bit earlier and just said that they're going
with a bit of a hot hand approach. Jalil McLoughlin
was the guy today, and I thought Jalil McLoughlin in

the offseason looked like the best running back on the roster.
Now there's been some games where Javonte's been the best guy.
There's been a game where Odric was the best guy.
They seem to really settle in on this. I know
that it's a little bit frustrating for fantasy football people
out there, but I'm not terribly worried about it.

The overall it's not good enough, but they're really becoming
more dynamic in the passing game, and that that right there,
I think you can continue to build off of.
