Speaker 1 (00:00):
Trying diligently to log into the text line. We'll see
if we.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Get let me see, let me see. Nope, I cannot
log in as well.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Yeah, after days of not being able to respond to anybody,
now we can't even look at it.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
So that's always fun. Could be a blessing.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
I would tell you five six six nine series the
text line, but we won't see it anyway. Well, still
the text line just as a recurring reminder. He is
the text line. It is a Monday, lots of stuff
going on around the league, a lot of stuff going on.
First of all, congrats on the victory. Thanks, Yeah, hard
game for sure. So how about how about what did
(00:38):
you think I was thinking about this?
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Driving in? What did you think about? If anything?
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Because I had I had a very close friend of
mine who is closely associated with CEEU, who I mean
very much wants that football program to succeed, as do I.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
They call me today.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
And brought up the fact that coach Prime was in
Las Vegas on Sunday watching Shador What what did you
think about that?
Speaker 1 (01:09):
And then I'll tell you what I thought, Like I didn't.
I had a bunch of people ask me about this.
I didn't particularly have an opinion on it.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
If it doesn't interfere with what you're doing in terms
of getting your team ready to play, or interfere with
a game, or interfere with those kinds of things. I
don't particularly see a problem necessarily with a coach going
to see his son, you know, in his first professional
football game. It's not like the flight to Las Vegas
(01:37):
is prohibitively long, you know, it's just kind of right there.
I mean, is there some aspect of this that I'm missing?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
I would say this, and this is and I have
been you know, I mean since coach Prime got here.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
I've been.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Completely honest in terms of what I've seen, what I like,
what I don't like. I've said sometimes, you know, people
get been out of shape because some people just have
a stylistically different way of doing things. And certainly some
of the stuff that has gone on up there would
be different, you know, in terms of what I would
(02:17):
have done. But that that does you Wayne in or
personal friends, Yeah, he'd have been in for sure. No,
I get I mean all that I in the world
of college football now, I mean all that I I
sort of get.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Here's the deal, though, I get it.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
As a father, you'd want to go see your son's
first start in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
But Sunday is the Sunday's.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Sunday's the day where you really get the lion's share
of your prep for next week done. And whether or
not you are directly involved in any of this as
the head coach, and I'm not sure.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
I'm not sure he is.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
He oversees the program, but I'm not sure he's directly
involved in you.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Know, the offense, defense, and special teams. But I did
I just the optics.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Yeah, I just don't think it sends the sends a
great message to your team, that's all. I'm not not
a in a hilt to Diane for me, But when
when he called me, and I was like, you know,
I thought that yesterday when I saw a shot of
coach Prime in the box, I'm thinking, Wait, today's Sunday, right,
(03:38):
and that's the day where you start really the lion's
share of your prep for your game next week.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
He I mean, from my perspective, I guess you sort
of know or at least you know that his offensive
and defensive coordinator do most of hashtag all of that work.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
As far as that kind of stuff goes.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
I aired on this the other I was just kind
of like, I don't, I don't care. But then I
don't have the attachment to see you. You you obviously
haven't attachment to see you. You went there, you played there,
all that kind of I don't have the attachment. I
kind of looked at it as you know, it's a
dad going to view his son. He'll be back, you
know this one. Now, this would be different if he
goes to watch every game, then I'd start to have
a problem.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
It's it's not even it's it's a hard point to
argue against what you just said. I mean's your son's
first start in the NFL. So I think, you know
a lot of people would completely understand who what dad
would want to be there to see his son start
for the first time.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
I mean I get that for sure. But the other
side of it, yeah, you have you have a.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
You know, there's a responsibility also that you you at
least have to think about. And again, I I don't
want to be you know, I don't want to be
the guy that says, you know, this is a hill
for me to die, and it's not I'm just telling
you it did. I mean when I saw it, I
thought about it and and just wondered and listen, probably
(05:03):
watching that game Saturday night, which I had a chance
to watch the entire game. You know that maybe that
played a part in Yeah, you know, it's just it's
been a tough year. I I admire him in this respect.
I think he's he's I mean, to battle through what
(05:25):
he's had to battle through from a physical standpoint, from
a health standpoint, I don't I mean, I don't. I
don't know that there'd be a lot of people that
would be able to do that and still do what
he's done. So I admire him in that regard. I just,
you know, I just want that program to be the
best it can be.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
I think, I think that is the thing. And you
well know, this is a head coach. You're not just
daddy to one guy, your daddy to you know, ninety
guys on that you know, on that football team as well.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
I wonder if there was any you know, I mean,
if it were me in.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
That position, and I tried to think about this after somebody,
because I have thought of it. I didn't give it
a second thought. Really, I was like, I just kind
of expected him to go because it was you know,
shad Or and they have that relationship a lot. But
I had done And then my first thought was, you
know what if I were coaching that, that's the first
thing I'd do.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
With my guys.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Hey, guys, my son's played you guys, mind if I
dip out for a couple hours on Sunday and I'll
you know, I'll put the time in. I would talk
to my team about that and it would be a
team decision. And maybe he did more than you know,
a me decision.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Yeah, I mean, I don't think he did that, but
I don't either, But I don't I don't know that
he didn't. And and one other thing too. Normally I
wouldn't do this, but we uh. I was involved in
a game over the weekend and had a chance to
see uh. And if you're a high school football fan,
you you should be aware of the name Torre Davis.
(06:43):
He's a wide receiver, slash corner slash safety athlete for
Fairview High School.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
He he's six close to six'.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
FOUR i would guess one ninety five unbelievable athletic ability
speed ball. Catching The university Of texas has offered him other.
Schools he had committed TO ucla prior to the coach being.
Fired then he de. Committed and it's my understanding talking
(07:15):
to coaches up at that program At, fairview The university
Of colorado is not offered Now. FAIRVIEW i, mean, LISTEN
i Hope i'm. WRONG i Mean fairview is In. Bolder
they're In. Bolder you, Know Fairview High school is In
(07:37):
bolder and The university Of colorado is In bolder as.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Well so this kid is his talented.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Size, speed athletic, ability catching, ability jumping ability as Anybody
i've seen in the.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
State in a long.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Time when you put everything together in his.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
Package they need to get on that. Office there's FAR i,
no that's a good selfbox to be. On we talk
about high schol ball here for. ME I i that's
one of the FRUSTRATIONS i. HAD i think moving up
here from The, south where high school football is a
religion down, there AND i cannot stress that. Enough it
sounds Like i'm being, hyperbolic But i'm not uh to
come up here and and just, see you, KNOW i,
(08:19):
mean there are there's some great kids playing In. Colorado
they slip out of the state because it feels like
sometimes that the university system doesn't doesn't want. To you
had a Kid gunner go down, there but, NO i get,
it you're going down there To.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Texas but at the.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Same, TIME i, mean how Did colorado could have used
the tight? End, YEAH i think.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
THIS i think that the last handful of, Years i've
been disappointed IN uh in state schools plural and the
job that they've they've done trying to recruit our. Kids
there's a lot better football and because of the size
of the state and the lack of people in the,
state it didn't get a lot of national. Attention BUT
(08:58):
i can tell you, this And i've done this for a.
Minute there's a lot of really good football players and
a lot of good coaches and teams that could stack
up against a number of out of state. Schools and
for the life of, me why other state universities can
(09:19):
slip in and see the talent here and state universities evidently.
DON'T i have no earthly idea why that.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Happens it's fascinating to me BECAUSE i you, KNOW i
was down WHEN i was in high. SCHOOL i was
At arkansas and we had the OPPOSITE i, mean the
secure the border was like the thing you had to
you should be the thing here. Too you had to
secure THE i, Mean arkansas wasn't going to be competitive
in THE sec let. ALONE i, mean but let alone
be competitive if you didn't secure the. Borders and it
just feels, like you, know you've Got colorado AND ccu
(09:52):
teams that they're putting money in their. Programs now you're
put money in, there and it feels to me, like
if you want to be, competitive that starts at all.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Home it starts with security your own. Boarders, YEAH i,
AGREE i do, agree BUT i.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
DON'T i mean When bill, McCartney and again this goes
back into the Well bill started in the early to mid,
eighties but that was one of the things he wanted to.
Do he wanted to keep in state kids at, home
and he made a concerted effort to do that AND
i think did a pretty dog on good job of.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
It there's not. Enough there's not.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
ENOUGH i, mean you have to recruit from outside the
state because there's not. Enough there's not enough athletes and
Certainly division one quality athletes that you can build a
sustainable winning program with.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Here but there are you, know every single.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
Year on, average over the last twenty, years this state
has produced on, average it's been Fourteen Division one football
players per year. Average there have been some where it's been,
twenty some where it's, eleven but an average of it's
actually fourteen point like, eight so almost. Fifteen, well If
(10:58):
i'm at you, know one of these two, Schools i'm
Gonna i'm gonna try to get seven or eight of
those fifteen kids because you have you have a sense
of pride growing up here and playing in. State, yeah
AND i just, again it's one of the aspects of
football here THAT i just haven't been able to figure
out over over a long period of.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
Time, yeah it's it's baffled me Since i've sort of been.
Here it's one of those things Where i'm, like if
you want to, compete that's that's square. One you got
to you, know if you got you know, What, however
many four and five stars you've Got, okay one of
them gets out of state because they want to go you,
know they are not from here, originally or they want
to go To stanford and get the education or you
know that kind of. Stuff but the rest of them
you've got to Find you've got to have a way
to keep those guys. Home you got to have hey
(11:42):
continue to build the, tradition continue the, tradition whatever the case.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Made are you? As something has certainly baffled, me AND
i always enjoy get a chance to talk about that
kind of.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
Stuff And i'm going to talk about that as much
on these AIRWAVES i think is uh AS i would
personally like a lot of stuff going around around the.
League right, now we have h as kind of a firing.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
And any Mini Black, monday as it.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Were Chip, kelly the highest paid offensive coordinator in THE,
nfl was fired by The raiders last. Night Shane, bowen
the defensive coordinator for The New York, giants was let
go today his interim replacement of As Joseph.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Protege interestingly, enough just say In New york you may
want to read.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Up On Vess joseph as far as as far as
that kind of stuff, goes anybody else that You first of,
all are you surprised by either?
Speaker 1 (12:24):
MOVE i don't think we're particularly.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Surprised oh do you think there's is there any others
that you were kind of surprise haven't happened?
Speaker 2 (12:31):
YET i, WOULD i, mean let me speak to The raiders.
SITUATION i have BEEN i don't really, care But i've
been shocked of how bad they've been on an.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
OFFENSE i, MEAN i really, thought.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
With Chip kelly and his, resume you look at what
he accomplished when he was At Ohio. State now, YOU i,
mean you may have better players At.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Ohio state than you do In Las, vegas to tell
you the.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
Truth but NOW i Just i've been just struck. By
And i'll tell you. Something he's always, been to, me
a good run game. Coach when he was AT, ucla
they could run. It when he was At, oregon they
could run. It he was the coordinator AT, ucla is
the head coach At. Oregon when he was At Ohio.
State it was a run first kind of kind of.
(13:20):
Deal but they, CAN'T i mean they. Can't they and
they took a running back really high in the first
round In ashton genty and they can't run.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
It one of the complaints Amongst raiders fans right now
is that their offensive line coach Is Pete carroll's son
and has not appeared to have been up to the
task thus.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Far he was the only one pretty much not let
go on that.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
Offense in, Fact Greg olsen's back for a third stit
As oca The.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
RAIDERS i was Like Greg, olsen you, know.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Yeah the chip kind of thing's funny Because, CHIP i
mean that offense when he was, first when he was
running it What delaware and then he's running At oregon
started with the fly.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
SWEEP i mean everything started with the fly.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Sweep and he was doing that even out TO ucla
and now all of a, sudden you, know now that's
not even.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
A part of, That and it's just weird to.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Me why did you go Get mostered if he wasn't
going to be the fly sweep, guy and then Get
janthe going. Downhill it's like they went out and got
people that didn't match for what they ended up trying to,
do which was not very.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
Good, ANYWAY i THOUGHT i thought genty would be much
better than he, is and he looks like a guy
and AGAIN i loved him At Boise and maybe maybe
it's going to take a complete overhaul of the offensive
line and the. Scheme AND i do, believe you, know
players that are put in a scheme that is not
conducive to their talent might now look like they're very.
(14:31):
Good this kid's got really good. Talent BUT i mean he,
has AND i haven't watched every single. Play i'm not
going to force myself into that. Misery but the games
That i've, seen AND i have seen some tape on,
them just from a schematic, standpoint he he doesn't look
like he's, comfortable and he tries to basically run over
everybody he.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
Sees he reminds me in his.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Rookie season a little bit of The broncos draft choice
who is now In.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
DALLAS i, say uh, Yeah Javonte.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Williams he reminds me a little bit of that where,
listen you're gonna have to. Modify used TO i used
to say In javonte's rookie, year as hard as that joker,
ran you're gonna need to modify your running style a little.
Bit but WHEN i See Ashton genty the times That
i've seen, him that's how he runs.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
WELL i mean that worked for him in college when
you're running over future investment bankers and you know and whatever.
Else but that's not gonna work in THE, nfl where everybody,
know you, know as an all world. Athlete it's kind
of the same COMPLAINT i have With scatavo, too and
he's a little more undersized than.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
That but the way that you, run you, know.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Seeking out, Contact, like first of, all it's going to
road your, career it's gonna wear your body goes, RIGHT
i already saw. That but second of, all you can't
run over everybody in THE nfl the way you run
over people in.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
College like you.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
Can't you got to learn to be, patient let the
blocking set up and.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Get behind that and find your. Space just just seeking out.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
The nearest dude and put your shoulder into him is
a bad way to play.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Ball, yeah it's it's.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
NOT i, mean we've just seen too many times over
the course of a lot of.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
YEARS nfl running backs don't stay.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Healthy they have to run in a judicious. Manner you
have to pick and choose when you're gonna take somebody.
On it has to be a critical time of the.
Game and you can't go looking for guys that you're
trying to run between their eyes with the biggest part
of your. Body so, yeah interesting to see The giants.
(16:20):
Thing no surprise there because you know they they The
giants defense for, really from a personnel, standpoint you look
at That giants especially the time on, PAPER i, mean
who you would think, Like, okay these guys are going
to be a, problem, right but it just it just.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
Has they couldn't stop anybody late game to save their lives.
Either that's not just The broncos with the. Combat you
look at every game they, year they just love another.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
One five games or, SIX i can't remember which one
that they've had leads in the fourth quarter and.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Lost, yeah And i'm just blown. It and THAT'S i
think that's what?
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Ultimately did you Know Shane bowen IN i mentioned The
Vince joseph protege thing Because i've had several people tell
me that The New York giants are heavily interested in
the idea Of Vance. Joseph they're they're looking At Chris
shula from from The rams ye looking at uh and
letting doing some background work On vance. Here what what
would he bring with, him you, know if he were
to be the guy and come here in terms of the,
offense because that's really what everybody cares. About what's who's
(17:13):
going to be the uh you know The jackson dart
mentor you Know advance. Came you got an Ad Nam
davis web right here on this, staff who played quarterback
for The New York, giants who played Under Brian dable In,
Buffalo New, york would know the. Terminology i'm Just i'm not.
Saying i'm just putting it out. There, YEAH I i had
not heard, that but that that would make sense to.
(17:33):
ME i do Think vance.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
He's gonna have to do better Than we had a
great week of practice with The New york. Media but,
uh and he.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
WILL i mean that that was his first it was
his first opportunity to jump in front of a bank of.
Microphones and, uh it's for guys that are not used to.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
THAT i think it's it can be for guys that
are used to.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
It it could be challenging based on whatever questions you. Get
BUT i Think vance has done a terrific job this.
YEAR i think he's, humble, uh obviously hard. WORKER i
WOULD i would be pleasantly surprised If vance. DOESN'T i,
MEAN i want what's good for, him But i'd be
pleasantly surprised if he doesn't get an. Offer if he
(18:13):
if he doesn't a, shot if he doesn't go, SOMEWHERE
i think it'll be because he felt it was not
the right, either money or, opportunity or he didn't have
the right. QUARTERBACK i, mean all the pieces maybe not in,
place BECAUSE i think you have to be more certain
in your second, opportunity because you you got to capitalize
on that your first. One, hey, everybody everybody who gets
(18:35):
a first opportunity to be AN nfl head coach is, like,
yep whatever you, Got i'm, good let's get to. Work
but your second, one when when the first one didn't,
work you got to be intentional With, HEY i need
a few things.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
HERE i know WHAT i was missing the last. TIME i.
Know you learn From, yeah you learn because that is the.
Thing you.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
Know you get AN nfl, offer it's AN nfl head coaching.
JOB i was only thirty two of. THESE i got a,
shot and then you get into. It you, realize oh my,
GOODNESS i don't have a. QUARTERBACK i got an owner doesn't,
care or, worse does care for the wrong.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
Reasons you, know you get those kinds of. Things so
we're off en rolling here.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
ON Ko, Sports Dave, Logan benjamin All, Bright we'll be
back after this going out to THE ka comes for
the hotline, though and bring on our, Guy ian Rapaport
Ian rapport is powered By. Chevron chevron the human energy,
company committed to our local communities and safely delivering, affordable,
reliable ever cleaner.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Energy. Ian how's it, going? Buddy what's going?
Speaker 4 (19:26):
On? Guys how are?
Speaker 1 (19:27):
You We're we're doing.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Good we were just sitting here talking about some of
the moves that have been made in the assistant coaching
ranks in THE nfl One New york and one of
course In Las.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
Vegas a little bit of a little bit of a
busy couple of.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
Weeks gosh, right it really.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
Has so WHAT i want to ask, is just as
we sit here today And Vance joseph is the is
obviously the defensive coordinator here and has had a terrific
year In. DENVER i, mean is he one of the
names you're, hearing like one of the primary names you
would hear that in the next, cycle would get get
an interview or?
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Two?
Speaker 4 (20:03):
YEAH i MEAN i would say IF i had to
guess right, now based, well and, look we'll see how
many jobs are opening all that my guess if he
gets a request from every, place LIKE i think that's
the kind of candidate he. Is, now you, know who
knows who's going to get what. Job that's that's. Hard
sometimes that's. Fit sometimes you, know there's a lot of
things up in the. Air but my guess is he
(20:24):
gets probably all or most of the. REQUESTS i, mean
that's that's kind of where he's. At like if you
were to say to, me, like who are the top
coordinators this, year he's for sure in the top five
and probably in the top. Three SO i don't you,
know we'll see how long he's In. Denver but these
are great problems to, have they really. Are.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
Yep, yeah it's better to have that THAN i guess
the opposite.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
Issue as we look AT uh at, which as we talked,
about some other.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
Teams, have, yeah very. Much so look at. It look
at The.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
Raiders uh, Leadenship kelly go highest paid offensive coordinator didn't
even last a full.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Year Is Pete carroll may maybe one and done there In?
Speaker 3 (21:01):
Vegas or is this about retooling that offense and give
it another?
Speaker 4 (21:04):
Shot, NO i would say this based on the. Situation
they fired two. Coordinators they're one of the worst teams
in THE. Nfl they have plenty of offensive dysfunction and general.
Dysfunction it's, Possible it's all. POSSIBLE i don't know whether
their seats is going to. Go Maybe Greg, olsen you,
know in his third stint as offensive coordinator interim offensive,
(21:25):
coordinator maybe it clicks and maybe they start winning some
games and it all looks better IF i mean, they you,
know lost at home to one of the worst teams
in THE nfl and look terrible doing, It like that's
that's not what you had in. Mind that's not how
you make. Progress so you, know we'll, see BUT i
would not say it is going, well AND i would
think everything is on the table for The.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Raiders so ian at this.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Point if if you were to list your top maybe top, three,
four four or Five coach of The year, candidates what
would that list look?
Speaker 4 (21:57):
Like, okay SO i would, say you, Know Shane steiken
would probably be on the. LIST i would, say let
me see who ELSE i. Was Sean payton would probably
be on the, list you, Know Kyle shanahan would be another.
One just given the injuries they've, had certainly that would
(22:19):
that would make a lot of. Sense, YEAH i Think
Mike rabel would probably be on the. List To coach
The year is so hard because it's really like coach
of the best job. Done versus the. Expectations, yeah that's
WHY i would Say sam stiking because it's like no
one expected The colts to be. Good but like if
you told me That broncos would take like a huge step,
(22:42):
Forward i'd be, like that makes. Sense you, know if
you said to Me rabel would get The patriots head
in the right, DIRECTION i would, say, like that makes.
Sense so it's a weird. Award it's kind of like
Comeback player of The. Year, honestly for for, coaches it's
like who does the best against the low expectations that
we previously had for. Them that's why it's such a strange.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Award, well talking to speaking The, broncos you apponted on
A sunday night football coming Up, Washington jade And daniels
back at.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
Practice is there any chance that he's playing in that?
Speaker 4 (23:10):
Game Doesn't it doesn't seem so he has not been
cleared for. Contact and you, know like there are different
situations we've had this year where, like let's say a
player you, know exceeds expectations and is ready quicker than
you expected or whatever it. Is you, know when doctors get,
involved that's when gamesmanship kind of goes. Out the, window
and that's when it sort of gets. Real like with
(23:32):
all That Joe burrow was doing this past week for The,
bengals you, KNOW i AND i was reporting on a
lot of. It sources kept saying to, me, this he's doing,
great it's. Awesome he looks Like Joe. Burrow the doctors
just need to clear. Him and when you hear, that
you pump the. Brakes same thing With Aaron. Rodgers you,
KNOW i Knew saturday night that he wanted to, play
he was dying to, play and then he still hadn't received,
(23:55):
clearance And i'm, like probably not playing, Right and SO
i would Say jayden And daniel the same thing has
not been for. Contact you, know that's generally an indication
that he's probably not.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Playing Ty wellie you and wrap aboard at rap sheet On.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
Twitter last one for, Me, ian you know you were talking,
about you, know quarterbacks that weren't being, cleared you, Know
Aaron rodgers and all. That she know Where sanders getting
the start again this week For cleveland even Though Dylan
gabriel was theoretically. Clear does this moreed indictment of you
know What gabriel hasn't been able to do to date
or is this just want to get another look at
your door or something.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
Else, YEAH i think it's wanting to get another look
at shooto because like the reality, is with all due
respect to The, browns like it doesn't, matter you, know
like if you win five games or four games that who, cares,
right you're gonna get a good draft, Pick you're gonna
be in a position for a, quarterback doesn't. Matter you'd
like to learn these seasons where you're like it's sort
of like a lost, season like you'd like to, Learn
and so Being shador lots them learn as much as.
(24:47):
Possible they saw two months Of Dylan, gabriel who you,
know has not proven that he can be a viable
long time start in THE, nfl which you, know we've
learned a million times that you, know what could happen
six years from now who knows right but now right,
now which is. OKAY i think they'd like to know.
More Like shador has something where you'd like to see
(25:10):
him under the. Lights LIKE i always, remember you, know
WHEN i Covered Nick saban And, alabama he would always,
say you really don't know anything until the lights come.
On And shador a little bit seems like a player
who's who who gets better when the lights get, brighter
and SO i think they'd like to see more of.
That And i'm, Like i'm kind of enjoying, this to
be totally. Honest the craziness, everyone you, know it reminds
(25:31):
me of you. Guys know this one reminds me Of.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
Tvo.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
YEAH i totally get that audition and they know for
sure they're. Right it's been really.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
Fascinating, yeah that's one of those one of those great
ones that that maybe keeps fans divided and arguing on
the internet for.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
For years to covey AND i appreciate.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
Its, always, Buddy, okay thanks, Guys.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
THANKS Nfl network at Rap sheet On, Twitter well.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
We had we had a good friend of, Ours guppy
Texted Ben johnson will be the coach of The. Year
it's got to be up, there you know. What HE
i Actually i'm not even sure HOW i actually forgot about.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Him, yeah that's it's.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
Funny Because ian said the thing THAT i always say
about THE Nfl coach of The year, Award it's never
goes to like the best. Coach it goes to the
coach who did the most above, expectation who did.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
The most with the. Least, yeah who did the?
Speaker 3 (26:15):
Most, YEAH i mean, yeah and so that would Be
Ben jonson And Shane steike and PROBABLY i mean maybe
my frame bull depending ON i thought that was a
precient choice.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
There BUT i, mean how many games Did New england
win last? Year?
Speaker 3 (26:25):
THREE i was like two or, three and it Was
it's not that different a. ROSTER i, mean for, being
it's really not that different a. Roster Drake may's taking
a little bit of a step forward as they've gone,
on and they got a better oc in. There but,
man IT'S i mean it's it's almost the same. Roster
and now your top of the league right. NOW i,
mean you, know tied with The, broncos even with the
buy and all. That but, yeah that's that's that is
a Fascinating, Yet Ben johnson's got to be up.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
There what a great job you've done.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
There initially an investment in the offensive, line and you
start to, see i, Mean caleb's got some, hits he's
got some, missus but it looks a lot better when
you've got actual protection up.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Front, YEAH i mean it looks the games That i've
Seen chicago, play they they look like they've got to plan,
offensively and it looks like he is settled down that
quarterback Uh In Caleb. Williams i've always thought he was
a talented, guy could run it and throw.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
It and you know, what and they play On.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
THURSDAY i, mean they're gonna mess around and wind up
win in the.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
North you're not Careful.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
And how bad does that Make Matt naggy look at this,
point Because Matt naggie is a name who's in the
conversation for The Tennessee. Titans, JOB i still think it's
gonna go To Mike. KAFKA i got a little speaking
of you and we got a little soda pop bet
on that.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
One but he's Taking naggy and you're taking cof gu
And i'm Taking.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
Kafka With Arthur smith being being considered a draw as
we both think he's going to be in the. Conversation
so we'll. See but, yeah he's Taking naggy And i'm Taking.
Kafka we'll see how, that how that winds. Up you,
Know i've had to pay out Before state dinner. Too
we'll see how that how that, Goes BUT i, mean
how bad does that Make Mike kafka?
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Look with the is?
Speaker 3 (27:50):
IT i, mean was It Justin, Sorry Matt, naggy does
it Make justin? Field is that A Justin field's? Problem
is it A Matt naggie? Problem was it bolst In?
Chicago because you, KNOW i mean it just? It last
year it looked.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
TERRIBLE i honestly THOUGHT i saw enough Of justin fields
In chicago that win. It when they decided they were
going in a different direction and he went To, PITTSBURGH
i honestly thought it might work In. Pittsburgh NOW i
still think he should have been playing late in the,
Season but now with the move From pittsburgh To New,
(28:23):
york it's been an abject. Failure so you, KNOW i don't,
Know i'm not sure what to make of. That And
naggie was a guy that's had he, said good, success
but it's been as a coordinator with a great. QUARTERBACK i,
mean most of his success in the league has come
With Andy reid as his head coach And Patrick mahomes
(28:43):
is his.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
Quarterback AND i, mean to, me that's kind of, telling isn't.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
IT I, mean at the end of the, day you
go back and you look at What Matt negge's back
with kidsas city right now and the offense is all
of a sudden taking a step, backwards a little, bit
little better yesterday. Finally BUT i mean most of the
most of what they've most of what they've done so
far has not exactly been you, know. Honestly and this
is gonna be the weirdest thing to, say BECAUSE i
campaigned so hard that he was Riding pat mahomes.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Coattails The Kansas city might be Missing eric the.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
Enemy they might be missing a voice in that room
that's not afraid to stand up and wolfed, people you,
know a dog of the coaching.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Staff, Yeah i'd like to See ebe get back into
it at some. Point, YEAH i see.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
He's running backs coach For Ben johnson right. Now speaking of, which,
Yep so there you.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
Go shaudor has something where you'd like to see him
under the Lights LIKE i always, remember you, know WHEN
i Covered Nick saban And, alabama he would always, say
you really don't know anything until the lights come. On
And shadur a little bit seems like a player who
gets better when the lights get. Brighter and SO i
think they'd like to see more of. That And i'm,
(29:44):
Like i'm kind of enjoying this to be totally, honest
the craziness. Everyone you, know it reminds me of you
guys know this one reminds me OF. Tvo, yeah, NO
i totally get that, audition AND i know for sure they're.
Right it's been really.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
Fascinating SO i remember when that was. HAPPENING i have
told this a few.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
Times you, Know i'm down In tampa having knocking back
Some colvin's with The hey THEN nfl head, coach and we're,
like he can't keep getting away with this as we're
watching it happen live and him continuing to get away with,
it and, uh, YEAH i lost a hundred bucks BECAUSE
(30:21):
i bet that coach that he wouldn't do it, again
and then he did it, again and we all know
the Iconic Dave Logan Pittsburgh steelers call the best just
just absolutely it was just an iconic radio, call an
all time radio call By dave on that.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
ONE i love that.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
One but it, was, YEAH i you, know lost a hundred, bucks,
right was, like there's no. WAY i was, like they
got they got to this is a, miracle they got
to overtime with. This there's no way they pull this.
Off as he snaps the ball fires off the strike
like it could not have been any better from a comedic.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
Standpoint how WRONG i was in that.
Speaker 5 (30:51):
Moment some might say divine, intervention some MIGHT i was
watching that game With steelers fan back In ohio and
just how gobsmacked he was That Tim tebow just beat
them into playoffs was worth it for.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Me that's.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
Awesome it was, just you, know it's one of those
things that you know where you were win type. Moments
you got a few of, those but that was one
that That, YEAH i thought it was. Hilarious AND i
Think ian's right because The chador argument has reached that
sort of level of. Crescendo everybody's claiming they were. Right
the people love, him the people that hate, him the
(31:26):
people love.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Him, hey you gotta. Win he got a. Touchdown the
people that hate. Him, ah he threw an interception and
the defense carried. Him and.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
You, know it's it's just it's fascinating to watch how
people come down AND i don't know where they draw
the lines where people have just randomly and arbitrarily draw
the lines on.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
This with The tibou, thing it was it was a
little bit.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
Different he had a very specific built in fan base
because he outwardly wore his faith on his sleeve and
sometimes on a s. Eyeliner BUT i don't know whether
the chador thing comes, down LIKE i don't like like
where there's not some specific. Thing there's not any any
identifying characteristic of Shudor sanders that you, know would have
(32:06):
a built in and have a built in enemy. Base
it doesn't doesn't make any sense to, me you. KNOW i,
mean there's just not this, here even here In. America
there's just not this built In oh he's A nepo,
kid you, know or anything like.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
That, LIKE i don't know what else you would have
to hate.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
About the guy's not the only, gaudy you, know show
off kind of guy out. THERE i don't know what
specific trait it would. Be they would have people lining
up to wish his.
Speaker 5 (32:30):
Demise, YEAH i THINK i think it really does just
boil it down to like his cockiness and his belief in,
himself WHICH i, think you, know to reach certain levels
in certain, industries especially professional, sports you have to have
a crazy amount of belief in yourself even when everyone else.
Doesn't AND i think his story is something that should
resonate with people like he wasn't highly recruited out of.
(32:52):
College he went To Jackson. State the only team that
wanted them to play for him was his dad's. Team
and then he goes to see, you has a great
year in second year, there then gets passed on by
everybody in the draft until the fifth round and comes
out and.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
Gets his first.
Speaker 5 (33:06):
START i think it was the first rookie quarterback for
The browns to win their opening start since like nineteen ninety.
Speaker 1 (33:11):
Five Eric zaier, like how's that? Nut Real belichick was
coaching The.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
Browns they Were they aren't even like this iteration of
The browns has never had a quarterback win their first start.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
Ever that's so. Crazy not one quarterbacks they've, Had.
Speaker 5 (33:28):
Yeah more than there's BEEN us presidents in. History since
nineteen ninety, nine they've had forty six.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
Starters.
Speaker 5 (33:35):
Unbelievable, yeah and Then stefanski doesn't even give him a
game ball.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Afterwards oh my. God, yeah that dude is So.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
Oh in case you guys are, Wondering i'll spill the
tea on this so you guys Understand Kevin stefanski's obsession
With Dylan. Gabriel Kevin stefanski is represented By Jimmy sexton THE. Cia,
yeah Who Dylan gabriel's represented BY? Cia Jimmy sexton over A.
Cia daniel never has a bad thing to say About
(34:02):
Kevin stefanski Or Dylan. Gabriel you want to bet you
want to know Where dylan H Dana latsky is repped.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
By it couldn't Be Jimmy sexton over AT. C you
know Who Shudor sanders is not repped By Jimmy. Sex
Jimmy sex did over AT.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
Cia and it is, like you, know that's one of
those things you start to if you, know you know
the agent game and you know who is repp by
who and all that kind of, stuff you can you
can start to see even the commentary on television where
it comes from or where certain insights are things that
are said come, from you, know as far as that,
Goes so just just fascinating to.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Me you know that the arbitrary battle lines that ARE
i know are.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
Good Buddy, brian who texted all the, time doesn't particularly
care for Shidor. Sanders BUT i don't, know Like i've
never actually. ASKED i don't Think i've ever Asked brian
why specifically he doesn't like you, know and some people
it is the, gaudy it's the, showy it's the in your.
Face there are some people that just like that trait
in other, people that humility other, people which is. Fine
if you're within the side of my voice right, Now
(35:03):
i'm probably not the guy to be listening. To i'm
a little bit in your face like. THAT i tend
to be a little a little, showy at least in
this format. Now in my real Life i'm, not but
like like, this you, KNOW i have it up on
the air as a bit of a caricature of. MYSELF
i think it's, fun you. KNOW i think it's fun
and funny and whatever else you wann talking. About coming from.
Nothing it can't come from but you, know much less
(35:24):
than WHAT i came, from SO I i you, know for,
ME I i sort of enjoy that aspect of. IT
i definitely am looking forward And i'm looking for this.
Game it'd give me a chance, to you, know watch
Some browns, again which is, nuts which by the, WAY
i was literally sitting there watching. It tell him this
is my, Boy Shelby. Harris he got the sack right
AS i said.
Speaker 5 (35:43):
IT i did to SAY i went SO i had
A brendon town and he's a Huge browns.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
Fan SO i went To stony's down On.
Speaker 5 (35:49):
Lincoln, yeah because they have like A brown's backer bar,
Right AND i, said hey, Man Shelby harris ninety three
used to play for The. Broncos we Have Monkey sports Every.
Tuesday what a great guy he? Is next Play? Sack
it was, right, Yeah AND i will, say like the
fan base, that at least the limited number THAT i
was around On, sunday we're so pumped to See schador
play and. WIN i like that deep deep ball that he.
(36:11):
THREW i haven't seen a pass like that From Dylan
gabriel all.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Year, well, Yeah dylan just doesn't do all that, anyway
we'll get it more of. That we Got Rick, LEWIS
i think gonna join us here top of the.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
Hour Jack corgan gonna joined us bottom of the, hour
talk about The rockies getting a new slash old. Manager
gonna be a lot of. Fun so we got a
lot of morn store for you here On Kata.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
Sports we're back of this
