Speaker 1 (00:00):
Getting set for a big game on Sunday Night football.
We're going to head out to the ka Common Spirit
Health Hoighline right now as we typically do at three
o'clock on a Tuesday, and bring on Garrett Bowles. You're
starting left tackle for the Denver Broncos and on KOI
Sports is presented by Kodiak Building Partners and the Kodiak
Foundation together creating meaningful change with seventy two to charity.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Garrett.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Great to catch up with you, man. How are you.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
I'm doing good.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
How you guys doing We're doing good. How'd the off
Weeek treat you?

Speaker 2 (00:27):
What did? What did you get done?

Speaker 3 (00:29):
It was good. I was in California and my brother
in law, which is my wife's oldest brother, had his
wedding in California, so nice. I was a traditional Nigerian wedding,
so I was a party for three days. So but
it was relaxing. I was around family, just got away
and now I'm ready to get back to work.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Yeah, very cool. Do you spend at all any time
watching football or is that sort of just kind of Hey,
I'll get to it when I get back.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
I watched the Chief in Okay, so I guess that helped.
I guess that helped us a little bit, But that
was about it. My son watches had the games on
on Sunday when we were just playing up the house
getting ready to fly back, so I watched a little
bit of football watch Utah win. So that's always good.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
Hey go, Yeah, that was that was That was a
heck of a game that no doubt about that. Hey
for for a guy that plays, I think the longer
you play in the league, maybe the bye week is
even more important. But how different generally speaking, after having
a few days off, actually a week without having to
hit anybody or bang or do what you guys do
on a weekly basis, how different does your body feel

(01:38):
at this point as opposed to prior to the break?

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Well, I mean, I think it helps, you know, dramatically,
especially me, you know, me being a little bit older
than most people. But you know, obviously you know, I
worked out, you know, four times just to keep my
body going. Nothing too crazy, because you don't just want
to sit around and do nothing. You know, that's when
your body gets tightened and stuff, so you want to
move and get the lack of it after that your
body and just relax and you know, make sure you're

(02:03):
eating good and catching up on your sleep. But I
think it's more of a mental break, you know, just
getting your mind from the game and really just focusing
on your family and just really just getting out of
the building and clearing your brain. And you know, obviously,
you know, I go over my notes and watch my games,
you know, over and over again, and just fix the

(02:25):
things that I need to fix on and get ready
to dominate this week.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
We like that you're ready to dominate this week. Gary
Bowls joining us here. From a physicality standpoint, is there
a bit of a ramp up period? I know that
people going into the by say, hey, this team is
red hot one h trade games wondering if if the
reset will be ultimately a good thing obviously for the mentals.
But from the physical side of things, does it take
you a little bit of time to sort of get
up to speed or wait here, you get out into

(02:49):
practice and you feel right away.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
No, I think it just depends on I mean, obviously
I don't know what I practiced schedules tomorrow, but I
you know, such things. Been doing this for a lot
of years. I'm way more longer than me. But you know,
I feel like he just puts this in the right position.
You know, obviously we had the whole week off for
a reason because he just wanted to get away and
get our minds cleared. And obviously, you know they have
a game plan to get our bodies back, get our

(03:13):
minds back, so that you know, when Sunday comes around,
we can hit the ground running. But you know, obviously,
I don't think we'll skipped to be I think the
break was exactly what we needed so that we can
go down to six roads to six game stretch and
get to where we belonged. And you know, obviously we
have our goals and dreams right in front of us,
and we just have to go accomplish those things this week,
and it starts on Sunday night.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
All right, last one I have for you, Garrett. Always
great to catch up with you, man, And of course
we're excited about this final stretch as we walk into
the postseason. Coach Bating talked about the penalties, and that
was one of the things you talked about, the turnover margin,
turnover differential in this pressery yesterday, But the penalties is
one of the big ones. I know that this has
come up multiple times this year as a veteran on
the team. Is there something at this point that you

(03:56):
guys can do to curb that in this final stretch
of games.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
No, for sure. I mean, I think that's just have
always been our thing that we need to work on
the most. Obviously, we lead the league and penalties that's
not a good thing to be doing. But we're winning
at the same time, and you know, obviously coach knows
that we're going to be playing in bigger games and
bigger moments on a much bigger stage in front of
the brightest light. So you want to clean those things
up because those can hurt you down the stretch. And
we got to do a better job. We we gotta

(04:22):
play clean football. We got to control the clock. We
got to make sure, you know, we get we keep
our defense off the field and keep them fresh and
score points and you know not let you know, little
pre snap penalties kill us and or holding penalties kill us.
Like we really just got to focus on us on
offense and on defense. You know, they know what they
need to do. Obviously, they're the best in the league.
And you know, except one category, which is the craziest

(04:45):
of all and we just got to focus and play
smart football when we have to. We have to clean
up our penlinties and you know, dominate this turnover margin,
make sure we're not turning over the ball, and make
sure that we are making the other opponents turn over
the ball and us getting a good field position. So,
like I said, we have everything in front of us.
It's totally up to us. Coach Ban can only coach
and call the players. We have to execute them and

(05:07):
and you know VJA and on the deep inside of the ball.
So if we did those things, the sky's the limba
for us. I feel like the guys already. It was
good to see everybody yesterday. Everyone seems fresh and and returnerated.
And you know that's all that you want for this
bye week is to make sure that our bodies are healthy.
Obviously we're going to get some key players back, which
is the key, and get those guys back and hit
this ground run and get ready for a deep playoff run.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
All right, looking forward to Man, We will check in
with you next week. Best to luck out there and
practice and as well as the game on Sunday. Man,
Thank you appreciate Dave.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Sorry we can't play you on Friday night the bummer.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
Yeah, that was a hell of a hell of a
good game you guys had with Valor.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
So I'll see it there on Friday.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Okay, sounds good. You got to take care of you too.
Great stuff from Garrett. Yeah, one point loss. O.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
Man, it's I've had a few of those that sucks
life out of you, like through your nabl honestly.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
In the postseason. Yeah, I mean that's your work at
all time.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
You're right.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
It was a great game. It was great, great game.
Great game there, Garrett Bulls, So I can't wait. Sports
is presented by Kodiak Building Partners and the Kodiak Foundation,
together creating meaningful change with seventy two to charity, as
the Kodiak Foundation donates seventy two dollars for every Denver
offensive point to the number. Seventy two is GB three
foundation making a difference for children, families, and veterans in
our communities. Currently for the season eighteen thy five hundred

(06:29):
and four dollars. Very cool, my friend. Good to see him.
Good see you too, Right, how is your weekend?

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (06:39):
My weekend?

Speaker 1 (06:39):
I guess it's Tuesday, but yeah, what day is it
for you?

Speaker 2 (06:42):
In your My weekend was was good?

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Good?

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Yeah, it was good.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
That's by weekend and.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Sday off, which is off in terms of calling an
NFL game. Kind of nice even good for the play
back play guy.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
You're talking all yesterday with Ben about the the Chiefs
Colts game that he was referencing. I mean anything, it's
amazing because you know, in a lot of ways, everything
I think I knew about those two teams kind of
played out. I thought the Chiefs did are better up
running the ball. So it's one thing that really jumped
out to me when they were they were actually focused
on Kareem Hunt a little bit more in that game.

(07:16):
But there isn't I mean, they're they're a good team.
They're a really good team. And and there's been this
been like push on the narrative that the Broncos again
continually not being recognized as a powerhouse out there in
the NFL community, and part of it is people saying, well,
the Chiefs aren't the Chiefs of old, but statistically they're
actually just as good as they've ever been. And they
looked that way out Sunday. Anyways, Yeah, I think statistically

(07:38):
they're actually having a better year. Yeah, offensively. So it's
all gonna shake out. And I think, you know, depending
on which team you're root for, you can come up
with narratives that sort of fit how you'd like to
see things go towards the end of the season, end
of the playoffs. And I'm just I'm anxious to see

(08:01):
how this season, as good as it's been.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Just kind of where where it takes us. Where does this.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
Broncos team, a young and up and coming Broncos team,
where do they take us in the final what six
games of the regular season and into the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
I'm very excited about it too. Did you catch any
last night? And more specifically of the extracurriculars sort of
tail end of the game with Trayvon Morigg and Juwan Jennings.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Getting getting socked in the jollies.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
He got suspended a game today.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Well you can't.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
You can't just go up and sucker puch somebody, those kids.
I mean, we do that here. There's no there's no HR.
There's no really no HR department with iHeart anybody.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
I hate to.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
Basically say that, but I really don't because it's true.
I mean, so we just I mean, it's like animal
House here, but on the NFL field, for all of
the violence and all the contact and and all the
stuff that goes on, I mean, there's some things that
you just can't do. You can't grab a guy by
the face mask and try to lift his helmet and

(09:06):
then punch him in the throat.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Can't do that.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
Can't also come up with an uppercut into somebody's nuts,
you can't do that either.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
I'm just saying, well, so what was hilarious to be
is treyvon Morig, Who's the one that uppercut into the jollies.
He's appealing and my thought was going to use the
George Costanza. I didn't know. I couldn't do that kind
of thing.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Like I'll just say, once a raider, always a raider.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Was that was that wrong?

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Was?

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Was that not supposed to be able to do that?

Speaker 4 (09:35):
Yeah? That was bad football last night. And I love football,
and I did sit there, although I flipped back and
forth between that and the Nuggets game, but man, oh man,
Carolina that offense, and and they really they were good
the previous week, it really were, but it was that
was hard to watch.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
I was so so wrong. And again I'll admit when
I'm wrong, but I was so wrong much. I was
so wrong on thinking that Carolina would make that an
interesting game. I picked them to cover last night, I pitched.
I thought they were going to be right in it,
you said the week before, and they've been all over
the map this year. But I thought their head coach
called it a bad game. I thought Bryce Young looked off.

(10:17):
I just it was all kind of a bad deal.
And Aggay and his part and parcel of every single
NFL game, you kind of have expectations. But then you
see Green Bay losing to a team like Carolina just
a couple of weeks ago at Lambo, like the Packers,
who are like this one of the Super Bowl dollarlings
losing to that team.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
What makes no sense. Yeah, the NFL is is unpredictable.
I think I think the NFL as a league probably
likes that. Yeah, they like every now and then somebody
that just nobody feels like should even be in a
game can figure out a way. And but but man,
that was that was hard to watch.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
That was yeah, it was.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
And you know Brocker, who I've been a big fan
of his over the years. I know he's coming back
from injury but man, oh man, he didn't look like
he had anything on the ball.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
So I don't know.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
I mean, I don't know if if if the elbows
bother anymore, the thumb or.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
What was it? It wasn't shoulder, was it?

Speaker 3 (11:15):
No?

Speaker 4 (11:17):
I said, elbow hold, he's look it up here. He
just didn't look like the same. Yeah, maybe it was
his foot. I mean, I know he's been hurt, but
he just didn't look like the same. Throw his first
one of his first was it his first game back?

Speaker 1 (11:33):
This is the second game back. Yeah, o toe was
the injury that he's been dealing with, Yeah, turf toe?

Speaker 2 (11:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
Yeah, So you're right he didn't. That can affect your
throwing motion. I can tell you that, as you we've
talked about quite a bit. So, but then that was
that was kind of a tough game. I don't know, man,
early thoughts on this one coming up against Washington, I mean,
we have another day tomorrow talk about it. Yeah, it's
a game, it's a game the Broncos should win. It's
a game they need to win, have to win.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
Sounds like Jayden Daniels isn't playing.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
Yeah, and I would suspect that's good news. So I mean,
you just have to make sure that you you come
in and mind your p's and queues, right, I mean,
do the little things that help you or help put
you in position to win a game. All those things
don't necessarily guarantee you're gonna win a game, but they

(12:22):
if you do the little things, it puts you in
a position to win the game. Don't turn the ball
over early the game, have a solid kicking game, win
special teams, cut down on the on the penalties, especially
pre snap penalties. That's that's just a tension. So I
think den I mean, there's no question in my mind,
Denver is a better team, and I think they should

(12:43):
win this game. And it doesn't matter if they win
it by a field goal or by twenty. Find a
way to get out of DC on Monday morning. They're
staying Sunday night, they're coming back Monday morning. Find find
a way to win your tenth game of the season.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
I think sometimes when you have a team and expectations, right,
I mean, they get to the NFC Championship Game last year,
none of us are surprised that they are on track
for that, right. I think everybody kind of said, well,
if there's a regression team. It feels like this team,
who is shot out of a cannon somehow might take
a step back. But losing six straight, being three and
eight and a lot of their defense, I mean, you

(13:19):
got a defensive mind head coach and Dan quinn and
the defense is the thing.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
Now.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
They've got a lot of injuries, so understandable. I'm gonna
look at these numbers, man, I mean, you're thirty first
in yards per game, thirty second in yards per play,
twenty eighth, in points twenty seventh, and rushing twenty ninth
in passing. Again, I hate to do this because this
is the no you don't oh, hold on, I personally
hate doing this. This is just what usually is said

(13:44):
at this time is a quote unquote get right game
for the offense. So if the Broncos offense.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
Don't do that, okay, don't do that much, don't.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
I hate it.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Just don't do it. Well, don't do it with all.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
If you hear if you hate eat, name something you
hate eating Brussels sprout, okay, do you eat Brussels sprouse?
Do you say, gosh, I hate these and then just
take a big old honkin mouthful of them.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
Well, my wife likes them, so I will have them
with her sometimes.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
But so you hate Brussels sprouse and the because your
wife loves Brussels sprouse, you eat them at the dinner table?
What just as a sign of support. It's love, it's
it's whipped and I forgot one word, A.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Lot of it swipped. It's a lot. Well have you
never have you ever eaten a food?

Speaker 4 (14:30):
Because no, I've never I think in my life. I
think in my entire lifetime, I've never eaten a food
like that. I absolutely loathe, just in support of someone
who might be at the dinner table who happens to
love the aforementioned food, not once, not once.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
Proud of it? I really am. I I mean I'm
I'm proud of it? My god? What what I mean? Seriously?

Speaker 3 (15:00):
What?

Speaker 4 (15:02):
How do you explain that to a reasonable person with route?

Speaker 1 (15:06):
At a restaurant and there's an appetizer that it's it's
prepared for, you have.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Maybe two or three of your closest friends there. So
maybe the table is of six and the appetizer is
I'm assuming Brussels sprouts. Yeah, somebody else ordered the appetizer.
You have five other people plus you, you eat the
Brussels sprouts and support of the person who ordered the
Brussels sprouts.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
I would think about it, but but I think the
bigger deal is when it's like just met No, no,
I'm saying. If it's just me and my wife out,
it's a dinner, it's just the two of us, and
she wants to have that as an appetizer, but she
doesn't want to eat it alone. Then I would say,
you know what, I'll share that with you.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Oh my god, my lord.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
If it makes her happy, apparently happy, tell her to
get her leg out of your pants.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
I mean, seriously, what is going on here?

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Well, it doesn't sound ridiculous until you made me say
it out loud.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
And now should I use fork or spoon on certain Well,
she sells me fork is probably so you'd like to
be kept. I would like to be kept. Would I
would be fine being kelled?

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Oh my god, if.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
I had to eat Brussels sprouts and be kept. And
that's what I.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Actually like Brussels sprouts, Yes, I do. I don't like this.
It's either boiled or steamed. I don't like those.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
Well, how do you like them? Not boiled? I just
don't know the other well, I think they're baked. Oh yeah,
you could bake them.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Think that's baked.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Yeah, they're actually pretty good that I forgot that.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Yeah it's okay.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
It still tastes like Brussels sprouse to me, but I
can kind.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
Of because they are.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
That's why I kind of gets I could get by
it a little bit, gonna put a little honey on them, And.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Thank god, I just I learned so much about you
every single day. I try to try to No, don't
try to please me. You're you're busy pleasing her.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
I sure you know that.

Speaker 5 (17:04):
We'll just okay if I ordered the Prime rib honey, Okay,
like I said it, never it never felt ridiculous until
you made me.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
Say it out loud, and now it now feels kind
of sorry. Anyways, Uh, A little surprised by some of
the stats looking for Washington and just really how bad
they've been on that side of the ball.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
So what it is, what it is?

Speaker 1 (17:29):
I do want to get to it, and maybe we'll
spend more time on this. The other side we found
out today, and you and I speculated about this weeks
ago whether or not Coach Prime would decide to red
shirt Juju Lewis, like, you would not let him finish
out the flour the four times? Yeah, so that you
remain red shirt. So we found out today that Juju
Lewis will not play against Kansas State in the following game,

(17:50):
so he could retain his red shirt. I think this
is a great move. I know that there's some fans
may feel a little mixed on it. Coach Prime said
that Juju Lewis was very mixed on it, which is understandable.
Your competitor want to play. Yeah, but it's the right call,
it really is. I think you've done enough. I think
he's done enough to show people and then whatever recruiting
they're going to be getting off of it.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
You're going to get that, don't you. I think it's
the right call if you are. I guess nothing is
certain in sports today, but if you're fairly moderately certain
that he's going to stay at the University of Colorado, right,
then you can buy him an extra year. I mean,

(18:32):
if he's that guy, he's probably not going to stay
for another four But yeah, I think if he if.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
I I mean, I I like what Juju Lewis has done.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
I mean, I think he looks like he's got a
chance to be a really good player.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
If if you've.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
Got a commitment whatever that looks like again in college
football today from him, that hey, this is where I'm
going to be next year, then then then it makes
sense to me.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
Yes, yeah, and that's I guess that is the point
here is if he's going to bolt in the off season.
In the France re portal, in this whole conversation, take.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
You would tell coach Prime if that were the case,
Oh boy, no way to know.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
No way to know. Yeah, that's that's sort of tough.
I'm you know, maybe we can talk about it more
the expectations for next year, because I mean, they're probably
gonna lose this game because of Kansas State. And I
hate to be like a wet blanket like Ben is,
but it just feels like a very tall task to
win this game. Kansas very good. Yeah, and so I
don't know, let's talk about a little bit on the

(19:30):
other side. I definite want to get your thoughts on that.
We'll get to about next A little bonded about.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
That kind of a cooks guy here in demm right,
I was a cooks guy.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
Cooks I like the idea maybe they'll run the idea
of Brandon Cooks, then the functionality of Brandon Cooks. And
this isn't me trying to walk it back. It's just
I've long said, We've talked about it a lot long
said that you're barely utilizing the full extent of the
guys you have, Right, Marvin Mimms is still a very
low profile guy in the offense rul routes. It's a

(20:00):
lot of steps in, if you will. But if you
were going to tell me, hey, instead of Brandon Cooks,
we're gonna start targeting Marvin Mems three or four more
times per game, I say, let's do that.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
But see, I.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
I'm not sure he does run a lot of routes,
says the guy with the bad voice. How many we
looked it up? How many snaps did he have last game?
Like nineteen maybe seventeen? Yeah, I mean, how many offensive
snaps did they have? And I know that they're a
multiple personnel team. Seawn's always always been like that.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
I get that.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
I still I just don't have a good answer. There
must be one. I'm not saying. You know, they just
made this decision in an arbitrary way, But I don't
have a good answer in terms of why Memes is
not a bigger part of the offense. Again, there must
be one. They're in the building, they're in meetings, they

(20:58):
watch film, That's what they do. We're not out there.
I'm just going to what I observe, and I don't
have a good answer.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
Well, I mean, it seems like it continually that Troy
Franklin is a big fixture in the offense. Pat Bryant,
I would say, is an ascending talent in the offense.
He's getting a little bit more tick, as you would say,
corland Is. It's been all over the map this year.
I mean, he's mister third down. I think you even
coined that, like he's been so good on third downs

(21:24):
in clutch moments when you absolutely have to have it.
But otherwise, I what else in the passing game can
you set on. I mean, it's certainly not on Evan Ingram,
which is I think part of the reason why we thought,
well they're moving on from Devon Vayleay because Evan Ingram
is going to have a bigger role in Pat Bryan's
and Troy Franklin and all these guys are going to
absorb a lot more targets, and it makes sense to
get a fourth rounder and a seventh rounder for Devon

(21:46):
Velay if you can knowing what the rest of those
guys are going to do. But that really has There
isn't a game in, game out scenario where I say
I know this about the offense. And I guess that's
part of why the Brandon Cooks thing appealed to me,
because it would be an indication of some level that
they're going. They're going in the specific direction, Like you

(22:06):
don't bring in Brandon Cooks to let him hang out
and ride the pine and not play him, you know.

Speaker 4 (22:12):
No, And again it might be as simple as they
really like the current receiving corps they have. They like
the room. You know, anytime you bring in another player,
especially a veteran player. And I don't know Brandon Cooks
at all, but anytime you bring in somebody like that,
you know you got to be you have to be
careful that he's the right fit personality wise, with especially

(22:38):
a young room. Courtland obviously is Courtland has been here
the longest of any wide receiver, and he's got some
pups in that room. But court has always if you
talk to people out there. He's always been great with
those young players. I've I've played with some guys. I've
seen guys that you could not make that statement about,

(23:00):
and they're not good players. They're just not great with
young young you know, in this case, receivers. So again,
I'm not indicting Brandon Cooks because I'm just this, this
is a general statement. Don't have any idea what kind
of personality has at all, but just maybe the Broncos
are more comfortable with that wide receiver room than others,
and maybe they like the trajectory of the room.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
Well, those are the discussions we had this offseason when
it comes to Stefan Diggs, which we found out after
the fact that Broncos were in on Stefan Diggs. They
were one of the two finalists. Who was them in
the Patriots pre in rapaport. But that was a guy
coming off of his time with a Buffalo Bill specifically,
where people were wondering what his impact would be on

(23:42):
a young quarterback, right, Yeah, and the Patriots obviously said
we'll take that bet. It's been good so far, it's
been really good. He's been great with Drake May their
ten win team, So maybe that stuff gets Maybe it's true,
and you would know better than I would being in
those rooms about the influence of way one guy or
one bad apple, if you will.

Speaker 4 (24:01):
But you just go Michael Jackson on me.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
I didn't mean to, but it was kind of going there,
and I just I.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
Just like to give me one more chance, all right?

Speaker 1 (24:11):
But you know what I'm saying, like like I don't know,
Like if you don't, Let's say, let's say you swap
out Stefon Diggs instead of Cortland Sutton. Let's say that's
the wide receiver room this year. What's that look like?

Speaker 2 (24:20):
You maight have Digs here?

Speaker 1 (24:21):
Yes, Diggs here, and that means you're probably not extending Suddon.
So Diggs is your wide receiver one. Are you better?

Speaker 3 (24:32):
No?

Speaker 2 (24:32):
I don't think. I don't think you are. I think
I think Courtland.

Speaker 4 (24:35):
Has established himself as you know, a guy that comes
up with big catches at big times. And you can
live with a guy, a veteran guy that is that
is going to be that guy. He's he's got to
be a guy when it's third down to nine that
you know, runs across the middle of the field, catches

(24:55):
the ball, gets up holds the ball in a palm,
extends that arm and signals first.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
He's got to be that guy. So because I think.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
It's he's established he's that guy from a personality standpoint,
from a character standpoint, from a locker room presence standpoint,
from a leadership standpoint, he's that guy. I don't know
Stefan Diggs. He's a he's a very talented wide receiver.
But you know, just looking from afar that situation in

(25:26):
Buffalo with Diggs and Josh Allen, I thought both of
those guys played it about as well as they could.
They both tried to sort of downplay it, but I
think if you watched the interaction there towards the end
of Stefan Digg's stay before they dealt him from Buffalo
to Houston, that thing wasn't working.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
Now you can. You know, we could we hear rumors
in the window.

Speaker 4 (25:52):
We could, we could draw our own conclusion based on
what we saw. But the reality of it is, you
got a franchise quarterback and it's up to your receivers
and especially your lead receiver to figure that out and
find common ground with that quarterback. It just is, and
any receiver that that with a franchise quarterback that wants

(26:16):
to go head to head and bitch about this, this, this, this,
and this is probably going to wind up going somewhere else.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
There's an example that popped in my head is George Pickens. Yeah,
there's a lot of questions about his personality and how
that would mix in Dallas. He's been phenomenal down there.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
He's in a contract here.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
It's a fantastic That's what I would say about that.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
He has been really good. Nobody ever doubted his his
overall talent. Yes, I mean, he's a big, long, strident athlete.
But it is his contract here and somebody, whether it's
the Cowboys or somebody, is going to give him a
bucket load of money and then we'll see how he is.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
So that's an interesting point, right because was Jamar's over
four forty million per right now? I can see George
Pickett's pushing to try to get that kind of money.
I can see that.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
Well, then all of a sudden, the Cowboys are like
the Bengals, you got to decide or we got to
commit how much money they commit to Ceedee Lamb. And
by the way, Ceedee Lamb has dropped more balls this year.
I mean I've been and I've been a ceedee Lamb fan,
but I mean, come on, bro, I mean you're not
you're not catching the ball like you can catch the ball.
But how much money can you commit to two wide

(27:27):
receivers if you're the Cowboys? What's Lamb making? Yeah, that's
a good question. So somebody I'm making making over thirty five?

Speaker 2 (27:34):
Is he not?

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Oh? I don't think he's making that much. Let me
home making thirty I'm getting right here. He's done a
four year one thirty six in twenty twenty four, so
that's over thirty. Yeah, you're right that signing bo is
thirty eight million guaranteed one hundred million average thirty four. Yep,
you're right, nailed it. So that's a lot. It doesn't

(27:56):
feel like think you can sort of keep both. But
then you're right, you're the kind of Bengals Kei Higgins,
Jamar Chase. Somebody actually reached out to me earlier saying,
for some reason, the Cowboys view Pickens as their new
wide receiver one and decided to move on from CD
because he's had a bit of a tougher year. Would
you consider I was like, I think a lot of
teams would consider doing a lot.

Speaker 4 (28:19):
He's been a really good receiver, but he's not had
a very what I think is a very good year.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
No oh no, no, no doubt.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
And to me, you've got to be a difference maker
and a ball catching Jesse.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
Tomorrow's gonna be an action packed show. We're gonna have
ja Quon McMillan. We're expected at Jaquon McMillan on the show,
hopefully Passer ten as well, and then yeah we'll check
in with Washington. So it's going to be an action
packed couple of days. Hope everybody's having a safe holiday
season so far. I want to get to a couple
of text here on the Kawai Commas Spirit Hill text line,
how about Watson putting up twenty seven last night. If

(28:52):
you can keep that up, say eighteen plus, losing Gordon
won't hurt so much. It's a fantastic point. I mean,
Peyton Watson was phenomenal last night, and you know he's
been sort of uneven I'd say, be the best way
to describe Peyton Watson mostly on the scoring end, and
you know defensively what he can do, but on the
scoring end, but they just let him have as many
three point attempts as he ended up wanting in that

(29:13):
game last night, to think he ended up taking. Yeah,
he had twelve attempts, made five of them, but there
were five big ones there, especially there in the third quarter,
sort of put some distance between the Nuggets and the Grizzlies.
I think losing, as zachieaed, he probably helped a little
bit with the way Memphis wanted to play the Nuggets,
but it didn't matter. I mean, Memphis is not a
good team right now. So Nuggets need to win games

(29:35):
like that, need to not lose games like they did
a couple of nights ago against the Kings. But yeah,
it started the season thirteen to four. A couple other
ones here, Ryan eats Brussels sprout so his wife doesn't
beat him. That is not true. That is not true. No,
I it's more of like she likes it. So I

(29:57):
don't know, man, It's like anything else, like you know,
like like I like going to musicals. I didn't like
musicals before I met my wife, but I didn't really
experience them. But it's like that or like the opera, right,
I mean, some people will say, well, they don't really
love the opera, but they'll go because their significant other
likes the opera, likes musicals. I kind of view it
in the same vein as that. So my wife likes

(30:19):
brussel sprouts. We go to a restaurant that happens to
have brussel sprouts, but she doesn't want to eat them all,
but she doesn't want to feel bad about ordering and lessa, Hey,
I'll share them with you. She does not even love them,
but it's okay. We do things and it's partnership. That's
kind of thing. But it's funny. The way Dave frame
did it was like I'm I'm whipped, as he said,
but I I mean maybe you would look it that way.

(30:40):
I tend to look at it more as just sharing
common things. And I'm sure there are things like she
played fantasy football with me for many years, right, and
I don't think it was her favorite, but she wanted
to find some common interest and things that we could
both do together. She actually would beat me once in
a while too, which was pretty tough considering I do

(31:01):
this for a living. That's what's kind of that main
for me. Dave, would you eat steamed brussels Sprouse for
a make a wish request. I was assuming. He said
he would probably do that, but again it's not his favorite.
He likes some bait. Denver would have signed a wide
receiver to never have the football thrown to him. That's

(31:21):
what we do. Yeah, So that's the Brandon Cooks thing,
and that's where for me, if you have signed Brandon Cooks,
it would have been an indication of some of the
things you're hoping to be able to do with the
offense down the stretch of the season into the postseason.
That's what that was, and I just like the idea
of some kind of transparency or clarity more than anything.

(31:43):
Now they may come out of the second half and
be on fire, right, I mean offensively. I mentioned some
of the numbers earlier on the Washington Commanders defense is
really struggling, and then they have to buy week maybe to
clean some things up too. But their defense is really struggling.
So maybe this is an opportunity, as much as I
hate to say it is, the Broncos have an opportunity
on the offensive side of the ball to have a

(32:03):
get right game. So maybe that opportunity will present itself
Sunday night and then all of a sudden, we're seeing
the side of bo Nixon, the passing offense and maybe
even the running offense, where we start to allay some
of those worries about what this offense is. I will
say the win is the most important thing to get

(32:25):
on Sunday night, unquestionably. Oh my god, I really would
like to see the offense have a nice night when
you guys, like, for real, so many prime I mean
the two prime time games most recently with the Jets,
even though it was an early morning London games to
standalone game and then the Raiders game, the offense look bad, like,

(32:47):
very very bad. I I'm hoping, I am pleading for
Sean Payton and bo Nix just have a competent night
of offense. I win the game, absolutely win the game.
That is by far the most important thing. But boy,

(33:07):
wouldn't it be nice with the added edition of a
good night of offense? Huh? And maybe I'm asking too much.
I don't know, but I am hoping coming out of
the buy like they had coming out of the Mini buy,
maybe reinvigorated offense, reinvigorated Bonix could be something to look for. Uh,

(33:30):
let's see here, I'm still nervous about the Chiefs. They
have a better point differential the Broncos. They've lost a
lot of close games opposite of all this close games
they won last year. Yeah, I mean you should be
worried about the Chiefs. The Chiefs are legitimate. They're a
good team. They aren't winning the close games, but it
doesn't mean they aren't a good team. They doesn't mean
they can't be very dangerous in the postseason. A topic
I wanted to get to it. Maybe well we'll save

(33:51):
this for tomorrow. Maybe we can get to it a
little bit on the other side, just sort of restacking
the AFC after Week twelve. You know, the Broncos didn't play,
but obviously some prominent teams in the AFC, including the
Chiefs and the Colts and the Patriots, they all played
the Bills, right, All of those Bills lost to the Texans,
but all those teams played. So I thought it'd be

(34:13):
kind of a fun exercise. Maybe we can get into
the other side to do you have some von Miller sound.
I want to get to where he called George Payton
in the offseason to see about becoming a Denver Bronco.
Of course, the Broncos are playing against the Commanders in
Von Miller, which is you almost forget about that because
we don't see the commanders a lot often. And then
Vess Joseph had some very prominent things to say about
bo Nix being the next John Elway Vigarilla sparks. We'll

(34:36):
get to that coming up next
