Speaker 1 (00:00):
Dave, good to see you. Good to see you Ryan
and Nick. Yeah, Nick looking looking good. Well, what did
you expect?
Speaker 2 (00:10):
I'm not gonna answer that. So coming in hot, coming
in hot, no doubt about it. Man, Very excited to
be here with you. All sorts of great stuff happening.
It's a it's we got a full show today. But
there's so much to get to because of course we're
gonna be previewing the Broncos and Commanders. Broncos got a
couple of extensions they got wrapped up.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Well of Jaquon.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
McMillan joining us here, he'd not get an extension, but
we'll talk about the extensions and then Jim Mora.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
To my CSU Rans days. I'm thrilled, man, I can't
believe it. I think it's a I think it's a big,
big move for c s U.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
And I've known coach Morra for a long long time.
I think he's an excellent football coach. He's he's a
guy that I mean, he's he's been a head coach
twice in the NFL. He's been a head coach at
UCLA and Yukon, so at least twice in college football.
So I mean I think that was a home run
(01:09):
for CSU in terms of name recognition. A guy that's
done it, a guy that has a track record of success. Yeah,
I'm I'm a big fan and I was glad to
see the CSU and coach Mora get something done.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
A lot of the expectation out there was that he
was going to maybe vuy for a bigger job. In fact,
I mean a lot of Yukon people were sort of
stunned that he left him.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
He built this program up.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
They back to back nine win seasons, they've they're obviously
in another bowl.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
They won a Bowl last year.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
I think that it was kind of out of left
field in many ways because I guess for me, I
thought it was going to be more of an up
and coming, like a coordinator that's is trying to build
to maybe the bigger jump after this. Yeah, but this
is an established coach not only with the college a
lot of college experience with UCLA Yukon, but also with
the pros.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
He he's a guy that will be able to I
think this is still important. I don't know it used
to be you wanted a head coach that could go
into the living room and sit down and talk to
the parents, mom in particular, and tell her and the dad,
like why you think their son should come to your
(02:20):
university and what exactly do you promise that you will
do over the three or four years or five years
in some cases that he's there. I mean, Jim is
really a He's a smart guy, he's Gregary's He's got
a great personality, he can be tough.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
I play for his dad in college.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
His dad by the time I got to see you
had just left. But I mean he's from a football family, obviously,
and I when I saw that today, I was really
I was surprised, but in a positive way.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
For CSU, I think it's a great hire, no doubt
about it.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
Yeah, it's a great hire for sure, because when you
look at the current landscape of college football, it's about
having star power, and it starts with the coach, the
head coach and the coaching staff first and foremost. And
ideas is, though you have a head guy who's recognized
around the country, Like you said, being able to go
(03:17):
into a kid's house and recruit is definitely really important,
and that's the kind of thing that separates you between
you know, those who are at the APEX and those
who are just trying to climb the letter as far
as the whole Nils are concerned, and this move, I mean,
I'm not saying that it's going to equal that of
the enthusiasm that coach Prime created at CU, but now
(03:41):
you bring a little balance where now you have a
coach who is recognizable because of his time at UCLA,
coaching in a the NFL, and then the fact of
what he did at Yukon, because when you look at Yukon,
you don't say, well, that's kind of a powerhouse. But
the fact that well for basketball is football is not.
But the fact that he's taking them to bowl games
(04:02):
and you are a CSU ram alum. I mean, when
was the last Bowl guy game that you guys went to?
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Do you know? Well, it's a couple of last year.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Actually last year they won eight nine games last year
with Jade Rovel, Yeah, and then of course the wheels
fell off this year.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
One thing I can guarantee you, let's c ISU moving forward.
They will they will be disciplined as a team. They
will be physically tough, especially on defense. They will have
a physical running game no matter what the scheme looks like,
(04:40):
they will have a downhill running game, which I still
believe even in the day of we're throwing it seventy
five times, you still have to be able to line
up and run the ball.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Yeah, I think.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
I think if you're I mean, if you're a CSU alum,
as you are, Ryan, I would say, man, oh man,
we hit the jackpot.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
But what do you think this.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
Due for the US, for the collective and being able
to get the alumni to pour money into the program.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Well, look look at the guys. So you're right in
my left. I mean, you got right. What's what's the check?
You're geta right here? Let's let's just talk about this
a little bit. I mean, how about I think five
grand would be.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
You think that's fair. I think that's fair. Yeah. Yeah,
What does that get me? That's what I always wanted
to know, Like.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Whatever they call me, and I do get those calls still,
whatever they call me, I'm like, all right, well, what
what does my donation get me?
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Yes, that I would ask the same question for me.
You want like a T shirt? What do you want?
Speaker 2 (05:32):
I don't need anything for me. I want to know
where it's going. I don't want it to be lying
on the people that's.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Going is going back into flannel shue shirt.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
Well, that would actually be flannel water bottles with c
SU rams on.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Hey there it is right there.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Can we have a flannel day Edwards?
Speaker 1 (05:51):
How about this?
Speaker 4 (05:52):
How about they say, well, you know what, five thousand
dollars when I get to that, and it gets you
a patch a sticker, and we can put it on
the side of the Okay, how about your head the
side of.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
My head right on there to cover up some other
patches if you will. That's that's the other thing.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
But yes, I I think for the collective, it's it's
obviously gonna get me in a lot. I mean, you
go into the PAC twelve next year, yep, that's already
a big jump. Expectations are going to be higher. But
then you know, you bring him in and the immediate
thought for me besides like holy kay, I can't believe
they just did this was just the floor of the
program has raised going up. Like that's the thing, Like
whatever variance that this this program has had, and it's
(06:33):
had a lot over the last several years, that has
changed like overnight, like your your your floor as a program.
We're talking like hey, your five six win team with
him in the building. Now may take a year, you know,
a Yukon. He he was starting from scratch there too,
and he built it up to back to back nine
win seasons.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
He went, he won twenty seven games in four years.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Yep, right, so so nine win eighteen So he won
nine games in the first couple of but he but
he was building that thing. I mean, he you know,
it's an old school phrase, but I just believe with
some people you can say he's a football dude, that
that guy is a football guy. So CSU is I
(07:17):
would be shocked if they're not really successful within the
next two or three seasons.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Not to play DeBie Downer, but will you work with
Ben a lot so? Go ahead?
Speaker 4 (07:29):
Well that's him. I mean just because I work with
I mean, you work with Dave a lot so? Does
that mean wish?
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Is why I'm more upbeat than what here? Here's my
here's what I'm thinking.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
With Laura being higher, like you said, it raises the
floor for the school, expectations go up. And the question
is how you and the rest of the c s
U alumni, how are you going to.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Look at this situation?
Speaker 4 (07:59):
How much pressure are you going to put on it
because the question.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Is how long does he stay at the school. He'll
be there, He's gonna be here. He'll be there, you
know why. I'm not speaking for him, but Jim is
sixty two, maybe sixty two.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
To me, I could see him coaching ten plus years
here he's sixty four, Okay, coaching whatever. But to me,
I think this is it for him. He wants to
build this thing.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
I know he wants to build it, but it's like,
will the fan base put so much pressure on him that, Okay,
we need you to turn it over right away?
Speaker 1 (08:41):
No, no, no, no, no, no, no no. That's a
lot of patience.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
We are a low expectation, assuming everything is going to
be bad all the time.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
CSU fan, you are fans.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
No, I've got friends that are CSU fans that are
really excited about this. I'm very go in saying, well,
I mean, it looks like a really nice gift everything.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
But if I open it up and what if it's
something I don't like? Just what if it's the playing
T shirt?
Speaker 4 (09:10):
Right?
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Yes, to your.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Point, and they've they've knows me too well. To your point, No,
there's gonna be patients. There's gonna be patients there are
understanding your building from scratch. I mean that I don't
even know what your what commits you would be willing
to keep it this point, I don't even know if
that there's any that's worth keeping.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Of how bad it's been.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
So he's going to start from from a place where
there was very little.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Probably in the.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
Would you be upset at see Sue rams Fan knowing
as though there are other commits under j novel that
now more comes in. He looks at him like, now
that's not gonna be good enough for me, and he
tells them, no scholarship for you.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Well unless he says something about Louie or whatever. I mean.
Otherwise I'm I mean bring you Lewis luggage. I mean
what do I mean?
Speaker 5 (09:56):
What else?
Speaker 1 (09:56):
What other luggage would you like to bring?
Speaker 2 (09:58):
I was told when when Coach Prime did that, because
I didn't personally like that very much.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
That's that's called setting a standard, I.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Know, right, So I don't want to be I don't
want to be hypocritical here. I attempt to not be hypocritical.
But you're going to well, now I just say that
it's been really bad. So I'm paper plastic Louis bag.
Which one? Which one you want? Paper plastic Louis bag,
Louise Okay, thank you.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
It does sound pretty We're Jake pu mcviillan here. In
just a matter of moments.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
I want to shout out Luke Wattenberg last night getting
a four year contract extension, and then earlier today Malcolm
Roach getting at three year contract extension.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
We are we're getting done here, Dave. Pretty pretty exciting.
Good for both of them.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
I'm the Malcolm Roach thing to me is a huge deal.
He he is, and he was hurt early in the season,
but he is to me kind.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Of the oh. I don't know that he sets.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
The tone by himself, but he's one of the tone setters,
big athletic dude, inside, good against the run, motor constantly
running between him and John Franklin Myers, and I hope
the Broncos can get something done with him at some point.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
I'm not sure that will happen.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
But both of those guys I think have really played
well in the interior part. And DJ Jones has played
well too as well. But both of those guys have
played so very well.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
You know, But all this contract talk, and usually it's
reserved for the offseason. But we've seen the Broncos, you know,
extend contracts after the buye and it makes me wonder.
I mean, a guy who's going to be talking to shortly,
when does this extension take place or does it? And
(11:52):
also Justice Trenad, you got two guys who have really
contributed on the defense. We haven't really heard anything from
then outside.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Well stud is kind of.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Year to your guy and then him, I mean, I
imagine they want to have him back.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
I'm just saying he might still be year to year.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Maybe he's earned more than that, and maybe that's to
your point restricted so.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
You have his rights, but.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
You still can uh upgrade his contract.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Yeah, I mean if you tender him, like say a
second round tender, and that's a pretty good payday considering
your undrafted player, so that they could there's ways to
do that without giving.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
Him an out. And again it's not my money, and
I don't want to speak for his but always counsel
his pocket.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
I just say that, like, there's ways to give a
guy a bump. There's ways to manufacture this in a
way that gives him a bump without necessarily give him
an extension.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
And I would imagine they're gonna do that for I have.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
Not met a single person yet who doesn't like new money.
Are you a new money person? Like, yeah, new money?
Speaker 5 (12:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (12:57):
I love new right, Yeah, I don't just like old money.
Well you know, yeah, new money is good. Nobody's nice. Yeah,
it is nice, has a clean smell to it doesn't
and it spins.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
Yeah, I think this is great. Here was Sean Payton,
by the way, talking about it.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
He's he's talked about building through the trenchers before, but
here's what he said earlier today to the media.
Speaker 6 (13:17):
It's real important, and I think if it's not easy
sometimes you're identifying traits. I said this, you know internally
when I when I came here, I think that those
two key positions are so important. You know, you're building
your front on defense and on offense, and if you
don't pay attention to it, you know, it becomes challenging
(13:40):
to do a lot of the other things you want
to do. And so you know, the offensive line can
kind of permeate the building, and then the defensive line
the way they're playing, including the outside backer. You know,
it's hard to find those type of players in free
agency every year or without paying a FT fee. So
keeping that continuity I think is important.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Are you little surprised, Dave that it was Malcolm Roach
instead of JFM.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
I'm not and I think, and again I don't know
this to be one hundred percent accurate, but I think
it will cost more if they decide to keep John
Franklin Myers and move forward.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Right. I think Sean is absolutely right though.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
In terms of good teams, I mean the offensive It's
sort of like the baseball thing where they used to say, listen,
you put your best players up the middle, right, your shortstop,
your center fielder, your pitcher, you put your your guys,
and to me, it's the same thing how you build
a football team and the structure of your team. Your
(14:45):
offensive line sets the tone for everything you do on offense,
and on the other side, your defensive line sets the
tone for everything. If you've got a defensive line that
is passive in any way or really can't rush the quarterback,
not really, you mean they get singled up and they
get blocked easy. It puts so much pressure on you
(15:08):
as a play designer and caller because your back end
is sort of left back there, you know, can we
play man? I don't like his playing man because we
can't really get to this passer with four, so now
you have to bring more than four, which at times
you know puts your back end in a liability situation.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
So those two units, I think Sean.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Payton is absolutely right or critical to a team's success.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
Yeah, you're right, it is critical because those that are
the guys that can impact the game right away. But
it's still when you look at it from statistical standpoint,
who's doing what? Who has done what thus far this season?
I mean Malcolm Roach has if I'm not mistaken, I
think maybe two two and a half sacks, But John
(15:54):
Franklin Meyers has four and a half. So lively, you're thinking, okay,
we're guy that has two. He got an extension, so
something's coming from for the other guy. But that may
not be the case. Also though too as well, macolm
Roach plays with a lot of energies. Just like Dave said,
when you see him pre game on the sideline warming up.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
I mean, every team needs that guy.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
We always talk about glue guys in the locker room.
He is that guy that gets everyone fired up. Every
time I'm watching the game. He's like the first guy
to go congratulate someone, but he has a very enthusiastic
way of congratulating people that is infectious.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
So I guess that, coupled.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
With the fact that Sean had him with the New
Orleans Saints, that plays a major role. But I'm hoping
that the Broncos can find a way financially to keep
these guys together.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
There's a really great sound by here from Sean and
why they decided to get the Luke Wattenberg extension done.
I think everything you guys said, specifically Dave talking about
the offensive line and building through the trenches.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Actually we had Jaquon coming on, but.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
He had a great, great sound by here talking about
how it's not as easy as just drafting a guy
and plugging him in there, especially that position. He's like,
it's not one that you can just go out and
find somebody and say this is the fit. He's exactly
what we're looking for, whether it's draft for free agency.
So having the known of Luke Wattenberg, especially the trajectory
that he's on for the coaching staff was worth it.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Yeah, I think it's pretty obvious that they trust him
and that they view him as an ascending player. So
a guy like that that was a modest draft choice.
I think Luke was what a fifth round. I think
you can get him locked up and it's not going
to cost you an arm and a leg. Might just
(17:42):
cost you a hand or two. But I think if
they feel like he's the guy in locking him up
for the next few years, I think why not.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
I completely agree.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Let's head out to the Kawa Komas Spirit Health Hotline
and bring on Jake Kwan McMillan joining us here with
Dave Logan, Ryan Edwards and Nick Ferguson.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
How are you? I'm good? How are you?
Speaker 3 (18:01):
We're doing good? Jake one, Uh, appreciate the time. So
what's up with with Thanksgiving?
Speaker 1 (18:05):
How will you? How will you enjoy tomorrow?
Speaker 3 (18:08):
And uh, what's it looked like for you and your
family if they're here or whatever?
Speaker 5 (18:14):
Usually we fly I fly my family out, but not
this year. So I'm probably going to a few teammates
house to do some friends given and from Georgia time
with them, my friends and you know, my girlfriend and
my daughter and uh, what did y'all do that this year?
Speaker 4 (18:31):
Well, Jai Kwana, I saw you in training camp, uh
the summer, and I told you. I like the way
that you play the game and played the nickel position
and the dog in you, but without giving away too
many trade secrets. What is kind of the mental mindset
when you get that call from the sideline and Vance
Joseph is calling your number and you know that you're
(18:51):
going to be that player coming on the blitz.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
You know.
Speaker 5 (18:57):
I just love Russian you know, going out to the
quarterback and a lot of times the guys don't know
I'm coming, so I end up coming free. So uh man,
I just go in there with the mentality of going
going to make a play, whether it's in the run
game they run the.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Ball or in the past game.
Speaker 5 (19:13):
But I just want to go in there and go
in the backfield and make mess step up. Really just
trying to be destructive in the backfield. And if it's
a blocker coming at me, just take out one of
the blockers to warn the other guys can be on
the tackle. But go back there and try to make
a play. Do what I came for my team.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
I don't know if you've seen any of it, but
that's that sack you had, well one of the sacks
you had on Patrick Mahomes or you kind of flew
in the air with your hands up really high. Uh
there's been some all sorts of great memes out there.
Lion King is one of my favorite ones where it's
like Simba diving at the at scar. But anyways, it
was it was really phenomenal in that moment that that
game looked like you were having a lot of fun.
(19:51):
It looked like the defense specifically that one meant maybe
a little bit more.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Describe what that game is like for you.
Speaker 5 (19:59):
It's just one of those games, man, I just love
you know, them guys been the best for for so long.
And uh, I just remember telling one of my teammates like,
it's just something about Planet Chiefs. I love playing the
Chiefs like I just I just love, you know, because
you know, they weren't the best team. I like to
play against the best own to beat the best obviously,
so that meantallity get going in there, and uh, I
(20:21):
just wanted that game, you know, and for the team
team was you know, it was one of our goes to,
you know, beat those.
Speaker 7 (20:28):
Guys because they've been on top and in.
Speaker 5 (20:30):
Order for us to do what we want to do
this year, we had to go through them.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
Guys.
Speaker 5 (20:33):
So it was just high energy game and I just
said I have fun out there and just playing with
my brothers.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
How about this one.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
On a one to ten scale, Travis Kelcey is number
blank in terms of talking during the game.
Speaker 5 (20:56):
He's probably he's out there talking. He's probably like a
six or seven. Yeah, he's not going too crazy, but
he's definitely it. Say something to you here and there,
especially when you make a play.
Speaker 4 (21:07):
Yeah, guad, I've been known to say this a lot.
So you're here for me for the first time. When
I look at the defense as a whole, you guys
as a group, I call you guys mcgiver because when
anytime the team needs to make a play like that
Super Bowl fifty team, someone on defense stands up.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
I mean, what has it been like for you just being.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
On the field and watching so many players actually take
their turn and making plays For this defense.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
Man, it's the best thing about it. You know, we're
a full of dogs and I on our defense, so
you know, anybody's liable to make a play any moment.
And last week just my time for the before KC game.
You know, it's been a lot of other players like
(22:00):
Huff you know, the Jones. It's Riley, You got the
front up there. They're getting out to the quarterback, they're
making their plays. Man, it's just a great feeling when
you got a bunch of guys just playing with each
other and celebrating with each other when each other we
all make out our plays. But it's it's a beautiful thing.
And I love this group. Uh, we just played for
each other.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Last question I got for you, really appreciate the time
you got Alex Singleton back out there practicing passer ten
back practicing, saying with Joan Ellis, h boy, this defense
has already been playing at such a high level. What's
the like to have those guys back out there practicing
with you?
Speaker 5 (22:34):
Uh, it's a great you know, Alex just bring that
that that motor you know to our defense. You know
he's he's checking and getting in and out of calls
and uh, he making it. Everybody's on the same page.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (22:47):
Pat obviously he's the best point in the league, and
he locked down one side of the field and that
it be big to have.
Speaker 7 (22:53):
Those guys back and we can't wait to go out.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
There and you know, play with those guys again.
Speaker 1 (22:58):

Head back out to the Kae Kommas Furry Health high
Line to bring on Broncos cornerback. Pat certain, Pat, You're
on with Dave Logan, Ryan Edwards, Nick Ferguson.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
How are you man, I'm good.
Speaker 7 (23:29):
How you doing?
Speaker 3 (23:29):
We're doing good? Uh, Pat, appreciate you coming on. So
I think I think Broncos fans would would love to
know when an NFL guy is hurt and unable to play. What,
Because I've had this ask to me over the years,
what what does the schedule look like? What what would
a day when you're trying to rehab that thing? What
(23:50):
does the day look like for yous you?
Speaker 8 (23:54):
I mean schedule change for sure obviously is not normal
prog So I had to come in early in the morning,
like seven am, get treatment, rehab and now Once I
do rehab, which is about an hour or so, you know,
I get a little running in, get a little lyft
just to keep cardio going, and shoot out. I just
(24:17):
come back and get treatment so it's ready.
Speaker 7 (24:20):
It could take up majority.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
Of the day, you know what I mean.
Speaker 8 (24:23):
You start at seven and at like two o'clock, so
you know, it's a good amount of time, you know,
to get your rehabbing and primarily focus on the injury
and make it better.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
Pat, since you have been out with this shoulder injury
or this pec injury, you had a chance to sit
back and evaluate your your defense and your teammates. We
just had Yakwa McMillan on the program before you joined us.
What has been like for you to not just be
his teammate, but just to watch him go out and
excel the way that he's excelled.
Speaker 8 (24:56):
Yeah, I think it's an honor to watch. You know,
I've seen him from his rookie year and he's the
where he's at now, and he could tell the confidence
that he's exuding out there. You know, he's executed at
a high level. He's playing fast, playing smart, playing savvy,
and you know he's putting his name on the map,
you know what I mean, Pep playing I know him now.
(25:18):
Now this is a chance to get to know him,
you know, as a player, but you know, I mean
not only as a player, but as a person. You know,
he shows great humidity. He goes out there, you know
what I mean, with a positive mindset, and when you
see guys at that succeed, you know, I mean, it's
much warranted.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
How difficult has it been for you over the last
several weeks to be patient with this because you're a
guy that wants to play. You want to be out
there on the field. You want to play with your teammates.
It's nice to see that they kept winning. I know
that you're happy and proud that the secondaries play as
well as they have. But how difficult was it specifically
for you to just be patient with this process?
Speaker 8 (25:53):
Yeah, I mean it's very difficult to be patient with it,
especially you.
Speaker 7 (25:58):
Know when we're out here winning, you know, and guy
having fun playing.
Speaker 8 (26:01):
Out there, and you see the camaraderie out there, you
know what I mean, from the whole team. You know
what I mean, Winning is contagious and to be a
part of that, obviously, you want to be out there
on the field, but you know, it's honestly been quite
a blessing as well, you know, having the time off,
you know, I mean, getting the mental feedback, getting the
mental reps in off the field, and you know what
I mean, I know I'm coming back stronger and better
(26:23):
and you know, and I think that's a positive, you know.
And I put in all trusts in the Rocos staff,
nutrition staff and training staff to get my body right.
So it's definitely kind attempting. You know, you want to
go back out there as fast as you can. But
you know what I mean, I'm taking it, you know
what I mean, day by day, week by week and
(26:43):
progressing each and every day.
Speaker 7 (26:45):
So I can't wait to get back out there.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
Pat when we look at you guys, you guys are
now nine and two, coming off of a buy and
obviously we're right in the midst of Thanksgiving Eve.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
That's a lot of distractions.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
How do you guys remain focused for this road trip
important road trip in Washington?
Speaker 7 (27:04):
Thank Yeah, I think we just got to keep the
main thing the main thing.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
Obviously, we know we.
Speaker 8 (27:08):
Got bigger goals ahead, and uh, it's just another team
in a way, but it's not gonna be easy Washington. Obviously,
I think their record doesn't tell the whole story, you
know what I mean.
Speaker 7 (27:19):
I think they had a talented team.
Speaker 8 (27:21):
You know, obviously they had some injuries that derailed them,
uh this year. But you know, when I look on film,
I see a lot of talent, uh.
Speaker 7 (27:29):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 8 (27:30):
Obviously Jason Daniels he's hurt, but you know Marioda, he
provides a lot of veteran leadership.
Speaker 7 (27:36):
You know, their receivers been stepping.
Speaker 8 (27:39):
Up, you know, with Harry out. So no, I think
it's gonna.
Speaker 7 (27:43):
Be a test for us to see how we come
back from.
Speaker 8 (27:45):
The bye week, you know, well arrested bye week. So
you know, we got to come out with the same
mindset and not get complacent all right.
Speaker 2 (27:54):

Speaker 1 (28:03):
The sweet question is from Gabby. Hi, I'm Gobby.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
I'm eight years old and I want to ask you
what's your favorite holiday?
Speaker 7 (28:12):
Gabby, that's a great question.
Speaker 8 (28:17):
How today I think it changed before it used to
be Christmas when I was a kid, you know, I
always get out of presidents. But now it's Christmas. You
the ones that you don't want to get in the
president now, so.
Speaker 7 (28:28):
It's not as enjoyable, but uh that's what comes.
Speaker 8 (28:31):
With it once you get older. But my favor how
to they nowadays given you know what I mean, because
I'm a big eater. Uh you know what I mean,
I love the feast, have the biggest played in the room.
Speaker 7 (28:40):
So uh, they've.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
Given very cool and a lot of football to watch
for you guys, you don't have to necessarily be playing
and then you're actually are playing on Christmas Day, so
that certainly changes things. Well, pat best of luck obviously
practicing this week. Hopefully get to see you Sunday night,
and thank you again for the time. All right, Happy
Thanksgiving to you as well. Good stuff, man, I'm excited. Hey,
(29:05):
you got full practice today for Alex Singleton. You got
Paw was back on the field, Joda Ellis was back
practicing on the field.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
It's a good, good time.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
I'm glad you know that that's the timing of the
bye week sometimes can be very advantageous in that respect.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
Well, I mean they didn't they didn't put him on
the I R right, so this would this would be
the game that I think they were hoping that Pat
would be able to come back and play. So I
you know, he's limited in practice normally. You know, you
want to see maybe tomorrow that if he's going to
(29:39):
be able to play on Sunday, you probably want to
see full participant by his name.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
But we'll see.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
See. I love everything that he said because I know
we in holiday season, so it sounds great to say Thanksgiving,
he likes to eat, and all of that is true.
But now for me, I get an insight on his
mentality because he treats every game, in every possession like
his Thanksgiving. And because he said he loves to eat,
he loves the feast, and that's exactly what he does.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
Okay, that's that mental jump. I mean, that's great though.
Speaker 7 (30:09):
That that's good.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
The only one I did. I just make that up. Dave?
Did you did you get that from him?
Speaker 3 (30:16):
Yep?
Speaker 1 (30:16):
I did? Okay, boy?
Speaker 2 (30:22):
The uh it's interesting with this game, Nick, you got
the you got the Washington Commanders. They're in a six
game losing streak, probably playing with their backup quarterback. I
think Mark's Mariotta still offers a lot with his mobility,
but the accuracy is is still a bit of a
struggle for him at times. So I have a hard
(30:42):
time with this game because there's so many markers on
why the Broncos really should win.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
But it is the NFL.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
By the way, Washington also coming off of a bye,
so they have an opportunity to get a little healthier.
In fact, their practice report was actually pretty positive, you know,
overall they had They had Drake Jackson back, he was practicing.
He's a guy that's right now. I think he's been
on IR. They got Jayden Daniels limited today. Terry McLaurin
(31:09):
was limited today. They got a trailer on Burks, I
mean he was limited, and they got some guys that
are back practicing today, which is which is certainly a
sign of good things for them. I don't know, how
do you how do you sort of quantify this game
in the way you're approaching it.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
It's the Broncos, dub okay, and I mean they're very
very you know, it's got to be.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
Yeah, just to make it really simple, listen, as.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
A former player, I can say that there's not going
to be another person inside the organization that will look
at the game in that particular way, or if they do,
they're not going to publicly say it. But let's be
realistic about what we're talking about. This is a game
that the Broncos should in fact win because everything that
you just mentioned. You have guys who are injured, guys
(31:55):
who are practicing for the first time in a while,
guys who are limited in just a little banged up,
and they should play.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
And there's no Jade Naniels.
Speaker 4 (32:04):
And if I were Dan Quinn, I wouldn't play Jaye
Dings in this game either way.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
I mean, you were three and eight the Broncos a
nine and two.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
You may think that, you know, maybe they would kind of,
you know, take some time off and everything to buy
a week and believe it in the hype and come
in this game and then you'll be able to take
advantage of it. But this team knows what's right there
in front of them. You're chasing, not the Kansas City
Chiefs anymore. You're chasing Drake May and the New England Patriots.
(32:34):
So you need to keep winning. You're on an eight
game winning streak, they're on a nine game and it
should be ten after this weekend for the New England Patriots.
So Pat said to himself, and he alluded to it, you know,
keep the main thing in the main thing, go out
there and continue to play.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Well certainly, And then that's why I'm saying, like there's
so many markers for this team on paper that makes
it feel like a game they should win relatively easy. Now,
of course we've seen multiple times the Jets game, the
Raiders game come to mind, when the Broncos play a
little bit down to their opponents.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
So I'd say that I feel great about the win.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
The style points of it though, for me, because we
build these things up like Washington defensively on paper is
one of the worst defenses in the league right now.
They just are by the numbers, and offensively it's not
much better. So there aren't a lot of things now.
The weather is supposed to be really bad, so there
is a little bit of that factor in all of
this and how much that will impact things the game
(33:31):
that once again I would think favors the Broncos, with
the exception of the fact that Washington I think does
have a better run game.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
I'll give them that. Well.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Inclement weather, we always talk about run game. And this
is why I was pressing a button on this at
the beginning of the season, being able to run the ball.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
Now you don't have JK.
Speaker 4 (33:51):
Dobbins, and when you had him, you didn't really run
him as much as you should. But this is going
to be a test for the Broncos because when you
are the hunter, you know, everyone is enthusiastic and everyone's
trying to get to the point to the top. Well,
when you are the hunted, it changes the mindset. So
let's just see if this team, especially offensively, they can
(34:12):
handle this pressure and then they can go out there
and make some plays against this Washington defense.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
Like you said, that's not that great.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
Yeah, I like the point you make there. They're on
the other side of it now, Yeah, that's a good point.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
All right, be callor number four right now three O
