Speaker 1 (00:00):
We didn't get to a couple of these sound bites
that he did want to hear just for fun, and
this one so we you know, I usually like the
dueling audio. We played the sixty nine yard touchdown from
Jamire Gibbs on the Detroit call, but we missed the
New York Giants call. So do this, and then I
want to get into a little bit of conversation about
the extensions that were handed out to the Broncos. We'll
get in a little more preview of this game coming
(00:22):
up on Sunday night. But here's the Giants call of
the Jamior Gibbs sixty nine yard touchdown open overtime.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
And all forget hips up the middle, Gibbs on the run,
gives across midfield.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Gibbs is gonna go all the way for the touchdown
sixty nine yards.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
On the first playoff overtime, and.
Speaker 5 (00:41):
No Dexter Lawrens was not on the field, folks, all right,
for the life from the folks. You don't take your
best player off the field when the game is on
the line.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
That's great, that's Bob Pop of course, Carl Banks wa
w FA and Giants Radio Network. There was another one,
oh wet Li's listen to this one. This is really great, Uh,
Dave temper point.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
This one out.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
This is the field goal kick that sent the game
to overtime from Jake Bates fifty nine yarder.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
With thirty three seconds remaining. Hey, wat, these fans here
want about every call.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
They're gonna try the field goal.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
This is gonna be a fifty.
Speaker 6 (01:20):
Nine yard attempt Baits' career long as fifty eight snap.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Is good kick on a twelve old over rand.
Speaker 7 (01:27):
It's not just the tenders.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
God, from fifty nine yards out with twenty eight seconds
to go. I we're tired at twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Seven these fans wind about everything. That'd be a fun
drop to pull just for fun, and then finally just
because it's It was great. It was one of the
highlights of the weekend. Or Old Showski throwing to Jamis
and you you referenced this play, James Winsden. Yeah, he'll
usually has a dB have to fight against a quarterback
out there running routes. You can get like that though, thankyeah, yes,
(01:58):
it's embarrassing. That film session probably was pretty tough.
Speaker 8 (02:01):
Well, I know what I was scream session would have
been like in our dB room. Yeah, you're kissing a
lot of fire and brimstone.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
All right, here's the plague.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Winston Pumps's right leg takes the stop play fake.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
They run an end around for a Schefsky who's gonna
throw it?
Speaker 6 (02:15):
He does throw it down a little sidelight for Winston,
who makes the captain of fifteen Jamis.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
King fighting for the touchdown. Holy temp.
Speaker 9 (02:25):
I like to consider myself an athlete. I believe that
I can make plays like that for this team. If
I need to play tight end, I can. I do
whatever it is that's.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Required for this team to have Sussis.
Speaker 9 (02:36):
And I'm grateful that calv gave me an opportunity and
gonna trust to me.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
He gave me a chance, and sometimes that's all you
gotta do at the quarterback position. Give you got a chance.
Speaker 9 (02:46):
Russell Wilson sent me a picture of doing the Heisman
in like a little gift things called a gift, and
I did the Hosman.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Then we got an end zone.
Speaker 9 (02:57):
We just didn't win, Guys, we gotta win.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
James is a national treasure. You can't convince me otherwise.
And again, go Giants Monday nights. Part of the reason
we're playing these is because Giants will played the Patriots
big time game. Yeah, it's is at Foxborough. But I
don't know, man, I I'm very excited to watch that game,
and I know the Patriots are significant favorites and all that.
But whether it's Jamis out there maybe even playing tight end,
(03:24):
I'm rolling.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
I'm rolling my eyes at you right now.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
Hey, but you got now, you gotta you gotta, you
gotta play it for it.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
See, Mike Kafka is very smart here because he's being
creative and he's doing the right things. Like Jamis isn't
gonna be here next year. Maybe he will be, but
he won't be starting obviously, Jackson Dart's can be the guy.
But you're putting on film and you're auditioning. This is
an audition for Mike Kafka to be the next head
coach of the New York Giants.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
That's not gonna happen. Why not?
Speaker 8 (03:49):
You said it right, it's audition. You are in the
interim position. How many interim coaches have we seen go
from the interim spot to being the head coach of
the Raiders. Just did it and what happened to them?
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Yeah? Okay, there you go. It's not great.
Speaker 8 (04:05):
So he's he's auditioning for another team to possibly be
their their OC. And I love the creativity getting Jamis involved,
putting him on the perimeter, allowing him to make some plays.
But he was right, you know, put him at the
tight end position. He's not gonna outrun you. Right, he's
not gonna outrun you. But I'm sure Mike Rabel, they're
(04:26):
now going to have the antenna's up for fake plays,
even a fake punt after this.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
I know I would, I mean you, especially because the Patriots.
You might have to get creative.
Speaker 8 (04:38):
Yes, and consider the fact, like you said, what is
it that the Giants have to lose nothing at all,
nothing at.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
All, if everything in.
Speaker 8 (04:46):
The game, Because this is the part of the season
of an NFL season where those teams that had high
hopes and praises and expectations to start out the season,
those hopes have been doused.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
But just for a second, talking to your guys, you
gut you find it way to win this game. This
is a signature win. That's what they call these things,
a signature win for the New York Giants.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Yes, it will and it would it would be.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
And whether he gets the job with New York or not.
He's auditioning for maybe some other jobs open up. Like
maybe if you're the Tennessee Titans and you're thinking about
we need an OC or a head coach, they don't
have a coach.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
To work with cam Ward.
Speaker 8 (05:31):
Okay, so so now we would see you need to
see a large body of work in these last couple
of games, either with Jamis or Jackson Dart.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Just go off what you see right now. It's enough.
Speaker 8 (05:43):
Yeah, I'm not stressing you and everyone else. Caffecan size
as a head coach getting fired.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Yeah that's probably this probably the case. But that's nice though.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Yeah, this is fun for all.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
That's good. They ferguson Ryan Edwards with you.
Speaker 9 (05:58):
All right.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
So to day, the Broncos gave Malcolm Roach a nice
extension and this is this is what the tail of
tape when it comes down here. So Malcolm Roach got
a three year extension worth up to twenty nine point
twenty five million, with fourteen million guaranteed. Yesterday last night,
right after we got off the air, we found out
(06:20):
that Luke Wattenberg, the Broncos starting center, ended up getting
a contract extension four years forty eight million, twenty seven
million guaranteed. Now for Luke Wattenberg, this puts him sort
of top five, top six in the league at the
center position. In fact, he's making less per year than
Lloyd Cushenberry. How about that the savings there today, Sean
(06:43):
Payton did reference it when it comes to Luke Wattenberg.
So I'll play you the sound bite and then we'll
play the Malcolm Roach one. But this is Sean Payton
talking about why it was such a cool opportunity to
give Luke Wattenberg an extension.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
It's a credit to Luke.
Speaker 6 (06:55):
You know, we lost a real good center to free
agency a couple of years ago, and so again, you
know there's a vision, good young player and it's important
to keep those guys in your building. I've been in
a position where you're trying to draft a center and
it's one of those unique positions. If you say in
(07:15):
the draft, we're going to draft a center that we
feel like can start year one man, that becomes difficult
and so we're excited for him, and then of course
will you know three of those guys.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
So that was a very telling statement there, and I
talked about it a bit yesterday because We found out
from Sean on Monday that they had looked at other
players like they gave will Lesson an extension. We found
out about that last week. They had looked at other
players that were due for some kind of contract extension
(07:48):
otherwise they were.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Going to be free agents.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
As we went through the list, right, John Franklin Myers
is in there, Luke Wattenberg's in there, Malcolm Roach, you
mentioned Justice or not. He's in that conversation. There's a
lot of players in that conversation. That's our way every
single year. But you wondered when he said that, who
are the players that they would probably be identifying? And
I talked extensively about Luke Wattenberg yesterday because what he
(08:11):
said there is exactly right. You like the relationship you
have with your young quarterback. It's not as though you
feel like you could just go to the draft or
maybe even free agency next.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
Year and find a guy that fills the role as
well as Luke does.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Now.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
You may not think Luke Wattenberg is the best center
in the league, and I don't think by any metric
he is, but he's the right center for you and
the right center for what you're trying to build and
you like the trajectory he's on. So I love what
Sean said there because that position specifically, there's a lot
going on and we, I think sometimes get into the well,
you know, maybe you spend a first round pick on that. Well,
(08:47):
now you don't have to, right, you can still drafts
and develop an interior offensive lineman. You can still address
interior offensive line. You might still have to do that
with your left guard. Right, that might still be a
discussion to have in the offseason, but you didn't put
yourself in a position where you're desperate, and you don't
now have to compete with a bunch of other teams
that might want the services of Luke Wattenburg like you
had to with Lloyd Kushienberry.
Speaker 8 (09:07):
Yeah, it's best to kind of lock some of those
guys up right now opposed to waiting because other teams
are struggling at certain positions and this could be one
of those positions watching a guy that was able to
work himself up from being a fifth round draft choice.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
You lose Cush to the Titans, and.
Speaker 8 (09:28):
That's what opened up this window for Wattenberg to kind
of walk into because if Kush had stayed here. I
mean Wattenberg would just be a backup and he wouldn't
be in this position. But Sean Payton understands this that
you win the games and you lose games in the trenches,
and it's best to have that cohesion with your group.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Like you said, they looked at this situation and said, well, we're.
Speaker 8 (09:53):
Going to have to make a change at our left
guard position, so we're going to make a change there.
We can't make multiple changes on our offensive line. We
need that cohesion. So lot Ladenberg up, you make some decisions.
As far as what's gonna happen with Ben Powers, that's
a position where I would say that you can go
get a young guy and free agency in the draft
(10:14):
and plug and play there. But the relationship that center
has with that quarterback is not talked about as much, Ryan,
but being comfortable with the center calling out blitzes, picking
up blitzes, knowing as though you book in by two guards.
But that center to quarterback exchange very vital and importance
(10:36):
to any quarterbacks, young or veteran, their development.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
On the defensive side.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Extending Malcolm Roach and we talked about this in the
first hour with Dave, but I want to get your
thoughts as we talk about the reason why Malcolm Roach.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Maybe not John Franklin Myers, but here is Sean.
Speaker 6 (10:51):
You know, when we left for the buye, George and
I talked about there were you know, a handful of
opportunities to at least visit with these guys. Speaking on
my welcome, you know, his versatility and there's a lot
of a lot of things his flexibility position wise, and
then all the other things that he brings to the team.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
That was okay, yeah, it was a good fit.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
And and you mentioned his personality how guys gravitate to
him in the locker room, and Sean talked about it
there I think perfectly says like what you can do
with Malcolm Roach, and he's a guy that does get
some sax, he collects sex. He's not just a run stuffer,
but he does help you a lot there. I do
feel like this is not in a great.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
News for JFM.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
As much as we laud his impact on that defensive line,
he drafted his safety on Jones, it sort of feels
like this is the the game of musical chairs, where
eventually somebody's not going to have a chair, and that
That's what it feels like for JFM. Now he's being
he's saying the right things, he's saying, he's supportive of
these guys. He's very excited, but he say today to
(11:57):
the local media he's a little disappointed.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
You know, he's I do want I'd like to stay here.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
I know I will get a contract extension, whether it's
here or somewhere else. But you know, I think he
likes this room, he likes to be around. But certainly
signing Malcolm Roach. DJ Jones, Zach Allen, you just gave
out three big contracts to your defensive line and it
feels like he's the odd man out.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Yeah, it does. And I can understand from a player standpoint.
Speaker 8 (12:25):
Here's Malcolm Roach, a very energetic type player, has familiarity
with Sean Payne for the days in New Orleans. He
only has two sacks. John Frank Myers has four and
a half. So when you start to look at in
which we all look at it from a player standpoint,
my production compared to the guy next to me or
(12:45):
the guy in front of me, and I'm actually playing better.
I'm not hating on him, but I'm saying, if he
got that deal, well, what type of deal am I
looking for? But I'm sure John Franklin Myers just like
Jack Jaakwan McMillan. When Johnny Barron was drafted and everyone
thought that, oh, this is the end of Jakwana, like
(13:07):
he was gonna tuck his tail between his leg. That's
not what he did. And I don't expect John Frank
Lamers to do that. I expect for him to be angry,
to play pissed off because he wants to show them
you made a mistake.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
You didn't extend me. I don't have a problem with roach, right,
that's my dude, that's my dog. Right. I'm happy for him, But.
Speaker 8 (13:29):
At the same time, I felt as though I played
well enough to get an extension. Now that's not to
say that the Broncos are not thinking about it. But
John Frank Lamers and his family. Guess what's gonna be
talked about around the Thanksgiving table tomorrow? Right, Someone's gonna say, hey, man,
hey man, you guys at nine to two, I heard
a couple of your teammates got paid.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
What's the deal with you? Right, That's going to be
the opening conversation.
Speaker 8 (13:53):
But he's played well, he deserves and he's earned, let
me not deserve, he's earned the right to have a bumping.
It could be here in Denver, if not, it could
be somewhere else. But I know that dude right there
is playing and a lot of and this is what
happens when you get excellent edge pressure with Nick Benito
(14:13):
and John the Cooper, those guys are gonna get chipped.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
So you're gonna have singles.
Speaker 8 (14:18):
You gotta beat those singles, and those guys are doing
a great job of So that's not to take away
from it. But I'll be upset too. I want to
get paid. I like dead presidents. I like legal tender too.
It all spends new money, new money. Yeah, yes, it's
better than old money's new.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
Money, that's right. Yes, I mean all money's nice. Oh better,
yet someone else's money. Fair enough of this.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Well, it's not to say it's a guarantee that he's gone,
but just understanding. Eventually, like I said, you really can't
pay everybody. They did draft Sapient Jones with the expectation
eventually he's probably gonna take that role, and that's how
you're gonna build this thing out. The offensive line moves.
We talked about that with left guard and once again
(15:00):
played this earlier. This was Sean talking about building through
the trenches. And this is honestly kind of exactly like
the first thing that Sean Payton did when he got here.
First two moves were on offensive line defensive line. I
think they had to kind of wait a little bit,
but they did bring in Zach Allen in his first year,
but they had to wait on a couple of other things.
(15:20):
It wasn't until the next year that they brought Malcolm
Roaching and JFM. But here was what Sean had to
say about building for the trenches.
Speaker 6 (15:26):
It's real important, and I think it's not easy sometimes
you're identifying traits. I said this, you know internally when
I when I came here, I think that those two
key positions are so important. You know, you're building your
front on defense and on offense, and if you don't
pay attention to it, you know, it becomes challenging to
(15:49):
do a lot of the other things you want to do.
And so you know, the offensive line can kind of
permeate the building, and then the defensive line the way
they're playing, including the outside backer. You know, it's hard
to find those type of players in free agency every
year or without paying a hefty fee. So keeping that
continuity I think is important.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
I was just looking up something really quickly.
Speaker 8 (16:15):
I'm on spot right and I wanted to see what
the salary cap space is for the Broncos at this
particular moment.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
So right now they're at twenty seven of thirty two
and not.
Speaker 8 (16:28):
My numbers, here's the numbers of this particular website three
point seven and cap space.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
You know how much cap space? The pages have a lot?
Fifty three? Yeah, So what this means for.
Speaker 8 (16:42):
The Broncos if they're looking to extend guys, they're going
to have to get really creative.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
But part of that is that next year's salary.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
Is that right now?
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Because right now that's including right now, let's including Russell
Wilson's number, which by the way, falls off next year
right now.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Yeah, so let's see if it gives it to me.
Speaker 8 (17:00):
Let's say twenty twenty six, Let's see what the Broncos
or the Broncos at eleventh and twenty twenty six with
sixty million.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Yeah, so the Russell Wilson dead cab money.
Speaker 8 (17:11):
Yes, is off, but that still means you have to
be super super But you know what, as far as
budgeting is concidered.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
I mean, you're right, but that's part of why you're
drafting and developing your own guys like Luke Wattenberg. This
is a success story because he's a fifth round pick
for you. Yes, that has turned into a starting caliber
center that you might have had to pay more if
you got to free agency and he started to get
some other numbers around the league. Absolutely, and same thing
with Malcolm Roach. Maybe there's a little bit of I
don't want to go year to year anymore. Talk about
(17:42):
justice or not. Some guys get to a point where like,
I'm not listen. I feel like I've played to a
level that is not commiserate with a year to year contract.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
It is very true.
Speaker 8 (17:50):
The idea is that you could tell me all day
you love me, yes, right right, but if you don't
put a ring on it, then guess what what are
we really talking about.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
That's very true. That's very true. In this case, They're
still going to have to have guys that are willing
to be on your to your deals, like the league
is built on that. The what if they ask guys
that to take Hey, we want you to keep you around.
We know You've done a lot, but we need you
to take a little less. Maybe there are some guys
that would be in consideration for that. And this is
(18:19):
a very good defense.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
Would you Ryan Erwards? Would you? Would you do that?
Speaker 1 (18:23):
It sort of just depends on where I'm at and
what I need for. I mean, because if you're Justice
Arnad and you know you're a special team's rotational player,
like you may not be a starting caliber inside linebacker,
maybe you fish out there a little bit and you
see what is available. You see what some of the
uh I don't know, feeling feeling it, feeling the vibes
(18:43):
if you will out there in free agency.
Speaker 8 (18:45):
I think he's changed this whole concept of him just
being a special teams player.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
He's changed that concept.
Speaker 8 (18:51):
I mean, we can't look at him anymore and go, oh,
he's just a reserve linebacker who plays great on special teams.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Mm hmm, you.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Pray wrong about that. Broncos Commander's watch Party Benjaminn Albright,
Nick Ferguson. It burned down Denver off Broadway from six
to eight pm in or to win Broncos Packers tickets.
It's all presented by Arta Tequila, the official tequila the
Denver Broncos and guess what.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
I don't need Brussels sprouts there, but I do eat
a rugula. I've heard. I've heard it's pretty good there. Yeah,
it's it's it's done good. Yeah, yeah, you know what.
Speaker 8 (19:22):
I used to be into a spinach, but I could
only eat it in its natural state the moment you
alter it, like, well, no, once you alter it where
you put some heat and then you sutate it, sure,
and it turns some different.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Can't eat it, No, you can't.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
Just like the texture of it or don't.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
It's just now it's slimy. You took it from leafy
to slimy. Can't do it. My wife attempted to do
it one time, from from what to what? Well, she attempted.
Speaker 8 (19:51):
She made some saltee spinach, right, mushrooms and all this
sudden stuff.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
But chickens amazing.
Speaker 8 (19:56):
It looked amazing. Yeah, it looked amazing. Yeah, that's why
I left it right there.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
It looked amazing.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
See, you finally learned you were one of the November
twenty sixth Yes, how many shows have we done?
Speaker 4 (20:13):
You know that we're hating you out to dry.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
We're like, just give us the what's up. You wouldn't
do it?
Speaker 8 (20:18):
Nope, nope, nope. Hey I did validate her. It smelled good, Yeah,
it looked good. But I'm not touching it. Does that
make me a bad husband? Don't answer that. Don't answer that.
I said, have ask here, that's a question, I said,
have asked, granted not to you it. Yes, I could
see the look on your face, like, are what you're
(20:39):
talking about? Remember, like you said, I've worked with you before.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
Yeah, so I already know the answer to your question.
Speaker 8 (20:50):
Yes I do.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
No, I've met I've met your family. I do think
you're a very good husband. But I am more having fun. Yes,
because I got crushed by several of you yesterday about this.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
You why why are you you?
Speaker 9 (21:06):
No?
Speaker 2 (21:06):
No, no, no, no, no no, don't rat me, Ben.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
All I said was, especially, do you really want to
be on the same side.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Of anything with that?
Speaker 8 (21:12):
Well, see if I don't see myself, you try to
put me there.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
And all I said was I didn't say anything against you.
Speaker 8 (21:19):
I said for me, if someone's presenting me with something
that that I didn't want to eat, I'm not gonna
eat it.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
That's sorry. I didn't say. Well, Ryan was wrong and
I didn't to say it any of that. That's like
saying that we all looking like that's kind of what
you just did.
Speaker 8 (21:35):
Excuse me, sir, can you describe your silent well, yes,
they all looking like that's what.
Speaker 5 (21:41):
You just did.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
How does you Ben, Shelby and Dave how how does
that your own men?
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Yes?
Speaker 8 (21:50):
And two of the guys are African Americans and three
of the guys played football, so you grouped us together.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
So I said, it's a description, the description of men.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
That's hard, you know what.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
I'll stop right there.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Sean Peyton, I wanted to ask you this before we
get out of here. I want to ask you because
Sean Payton was asked about preparing for the Washington offense,
knowing that there's a possibility that Jaydon Daniels plays, is
unlikely that he plays, but he always tells a story
to Marcus Ware and how we didn't prepare for him.
Then he ended up having three sacks and two fumbles
and all those kind of things, and he's even asked
(22:27):
about it. In that frame today, you would say, hey,
you've told us a story about DeMarcus weared, So he
told us the story again. So this is what Sean
had to say about preparing for the Washington offense, knowing
that it's going to be potentially one of the two quarterbacks.
Speaker 6 (22:40):
We prepare for the system and the system. Really, you know,
there's a reason Marcus is there.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
You know, he.
Speaker 6 (22:49):
Can run this very fluently and it can beat you
with his legs, and so, you know, we prepare for
what we're seeing scheme wise. But in this sometimes when
there's a quarterback change, there can be a move in
what they want to do, and in this case, I
(23:10):
think there's a reason he's there because it fits with
very much what they're doing at the line. You know,
he can beat you with his feet, he's athletic, all
of those things.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
So to his point, you're preparing for the scheme and
the reason why, as he put it, Marcus Mariota is
there because he can do a lot of the similar
things that Jane Daniels can do.
Speaker 8 (23:33):
Yeah, that's exactly right, And that was kind of the
phrase I was listening waiting to hear coach talk about.
It is the fact that you play and you practice
against the scheme itself. So that means you go back
and look at any type of gidget, gadget play that
their officeive coordinators ever run.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
And I mean you can't run every single.
Speaker 8 (23:54):
Thing in practice, but you try to prepare your players
and you're just telling them, hey man, we need to
be solid on the perimeter.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Both of these quarterbacks can run.
Speaker 8 (24:01):
If it is Jayden, Jame's gonna run, but he's gonna
be really tim timid. So we're not gonna get the
same guy last year. And with Marcus Mariota, he is
still a guy. Don't sleep on it. Don't you allow
him to get around the edge. He will hurt you
as far as picking up yards with his feet.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
The had a forty eight plus yard run out there
in well in the international game.
Speaker 8 (24:22):
Yeah, So the idea is to be solid on the edges,
and if any quarterback is gonna run, you want them
to run through the teeth of your defense.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Because now you got.
Speaker 8 (24:31):
Tyler Ohlefuger, Brandon Jones, you know Drake Greenlaw, right, Alex
Singleton if he plays, but you know you have Justice Schranard.
You have all these guys that can put their body
on the quarterback. And the whole idea is when those
guys run within the whistle, now you make sure you
lean on them.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
What scares you about the Washington offense that they're in
a position where they're three and eight and they're desperate,
and desperate teams are willing to try almost anything.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
You can see a double reverse pass right now.
Speaker 8 (25:05):
Like I said, they have nothing to play for, so
they can try to cook up anything they want to
cook up that you may not have seen. So we're
talking about even on a punt team, right, who's to
say that they're not going to run a fake punt?
Speaker 2 (25:22):
And then also on fourth down, guess what, they can't
go for it?
Speaker 9 (25:26):
Right?
Speaker 2 (25:26):
So these are all the things that they want to
press you on that you have to mentally prepare for.
Speaker 8 (25:31):
And that means every single player, on every single phase
of the game, they have to communicate and they have
to be aware of what's going on.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Benjamin Bright joining us to the studio.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Wow, okay, Yeah, we'll be talking a lot about that
on Sunday morning.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Gotta have my tennis, Gotta be Wendy's. Is that what
you do a sponsor?
Speaker 8 (25:50):
That?
Speaker 2 (25:50):
What should do it for Thanksgiving? To I think about it?
Hot dogs and frozen pizza leaning all the way that
sounds like the food that is I get some what
I got.
Speaker 7 (26:03):
I got just hit a big grocery drop off over there,
so I've got to I've got some min chocolate, your
ice cream.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
Yeah, you know, playing video games, watching football.
Speaker 7 (26:14):
That's I mean, yes, that's basically what's gonna Happenavis if
I put them on.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
Yeah, sure, okay, great, You're welcome for the That's good.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
A couple of key extensions before we get to show
me the money got Malcolm Roach, got Luke Wadenberg.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Do you think any other others are on the horizon?
Speaker 7 (26:31):
The only other one I see that maybe on the
horizon the near term would be to the other cell
that that would be the only one that I would
say would be.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
And we talked about this last night, so you know
I didn't I got a little bit of advantage. We
were talked about this last night.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
I didn't catch that part of the show.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
Yeah, Malcolm Roach, we knew that was getting done. Uh
this or not?
Speaker 7 (26:50):
Things a big maybe we'll see I based on a
conversation I had today, he may want to test the
market a little bit if he gets the opportunity, as.
Speaker 8 (27:00):
Though he should, because I know Ryan was talking about
the idea of Scenari being on those one year deals you.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
Gotta strug with. Iron is high. I mean, he's no
longer considered to be.
Speaker 8 (27:09):
A special teams guy acting as a starting linebackery and
so many people we we're talking about this, so many
people forget he's been around a while.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
He was a John Elway draft pick. He was remarkable, right, Yeah,
I mean you know, I mean, other than Garrett Bowles,
I think you know on Courtland's.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
That's about hit, right, it's just saying, yeah, you can't
come to think of it now the longest tenured broncos Y, Yeah,
Courtland and Garrett. I mean Garrett's the longest. But yeah,
he's right up there, and he was a fifth rounder
and he's chosen to come back here. Yeah, and he's
had the Betty's ree looking all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
But I do think there is.
Speaker 7 (27:45):
Still an internal sort of conversation there with with him
and his people about whether or not, you know, what
he if he's going to get what he's going to
get offered from Denver versus what he can get on
the open market, which would be a long term deal
for sure. So I think they're trying to maybe maybe
leverage Denver a little bit and into putt a multi
year thing together and.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
Then that makes a lot of sense. Reminder, okay, so
happy thanks to Gavi gery. We we appreciate you very
much here, but I want to remind everybody that they're
taking it for granted. Podcast is going to err on
