over in Lexington. And you can give us a call
on the Clark's Pupping Shop phone line eight nine two
eight oh twenty two eighty seven. That's a five nine
and two eight O cats. We are a whiskey Thief
call of the day. You can also text us at
five O two two six five sixty six five six
(00:23):
and Ksrpre Show was always being brought to you by
Italics Fine Italian Dining in Lexington. Billy, I was just
watching the damage from Hurricane Milton. How are your friends
down there in Tampa, everybody.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
I really haven't checked in with anybody after the storm before,
you know, we kind of talked to a couple of people,
most of them had not evacuated. They decided they were
going to ride it out. And luckily it looked like
the storm kind of went a little south south than Tampa,
so it prevented from the serious storm surge that I
think many were expecting. But you know, three million plus
(00:59):
in the staters without power changing. They were tornadoes before
the hurricane came oh, I thought that was the most
bizarre part and that actually caused a lot of losses.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Okay, what kind of hurricane brings a plus one with it.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
It's ridiculous. Not only that, I mean it was like
a ton of tornadoes, So I mean, just something we
haven't seen before. I posted the video the Tropicana Field
roof getting ripped off. I saw that unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
That was going to I think, be like a shelter
for what they say, like ten thousand people or something
like that, up to ten thousand people, and then they
were not able to do that now because of the
roof just being completely torn off so hard. Just they
go out to all those people down there in that area.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Absolutely, you know, an area already hit hard by Hurricane
Helene now trying to survive Hurricane Milton. And it's not
only just last night, it's the next two or three
weeks that they won't have power and they'll be standing
water and the grocery stores will be closed. So yeah,
I'll probably check in with a few today. And and
like you said, thinking about everybody down there, it's not
(01:57):
easy to lift some through stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
So yeah, no easy transition from that either. But I
want to at least acknowledge it and bring it up.
And you know, I know that you have some friends
down there, so hopefully they're all, Okay, we'll talk some
Kentucky football with Vandy coming to town this weekend. Of course,
big Blue Madness tomorrow night, we're going to dive into
that as well. But first of all, Billy, I know
that you know, a couple of nights ago, you guys
(02:20):
went to the Tyler Choulders show, and you know, yesterday
on KSR we got into concert etiquette. And I didn't
know that Matt Jones had so many rules when you
go to a concert with him. But apparently if you go,
you should not sing along with the band that's playing.
You should not talk loudly if it's a ballad being played.
(02:40):
Do you have concert etiquette that you think people should
follow when you go to a show.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Yeah, I just don't shove me in the back. I
feel like that's a pretty simple rule. Just don't touch you. Yeah,
don't touch me. So that's we're at Louder than life.
When we're starting a circle or there's a dance off,
you know, I don't need to be touched or shoved
any but I thought it was a little harsh by
Matt yesterday.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
And you can't talk, no, you can't sing no. That's
why I said, maybe it's a good thing I didn't
go to that show. I would have had no fun
sit there and like cross your arms and be quiet
and only cheer when the song's over. You know, I
got understand, like there's some people you go to concerts,
and especially smaller concerts seem to be where it happens
the most. You get some people that maybe have had
(03:22):
a few too many and they get a little obnoxious.
And but you know, my thing is usually somebody will
take care of that for me. Like, I don't feel
like I have to be the concert police to tell
people sh Like I'm not gonna go around and shush
people and tell them how you know we talk about
don't tell me how to fan, well, don't tell me
how to go to a concert.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
I'm gonna go. I'm gonna have fun my way.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
And as long as you're not, you know, being a
complete nuisance that I think it's okay.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
I like your answer, You're like, okay, John Mellencamp.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Yeah, John Mellencamp, By the way, I think We've talked
about that on the show before. He will stop a
song mid song if he hears anybody talking during one
of his not concerts performances.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
That's what he calls it.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
He will he will openly scold you in front of
the entire Uh well, he doesn't play arenas anymore, the
entire theater.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
He plays a lot of theaters.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Like I was watching a video, he just straight up
cusses this guy out. I mean the rips and no,
I mean like again, like he does it, He's done it.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
He did it again recently.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
It's like people need to learn if you go to
a John Mellencamp concert, you don't have to worry about
the h the other audience members shoshing you. John Mellencamp
will do it himself.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
You know. It's kind of like I mean it is.
It's an intimate setting what we were at at Country Boys.
So maybe that was the difference, because you know, you
try to tell somebody to shut up at Louder than
Life for a Bourbon and Beyond, you might get a
right hook to the face, but maybe not at Country
Boy with only two hundred people there. I liken it
to when somebody tells you to sit down at a
sporting event. Sh m hmm. You know, I think there
(04:52):
also is a time and place to stand up and
cheer and be loud. But if you bought you know,
if you use good money to buy good tickets and
then you have good you know you've got good seats
in the person in front of you won't shut up
and standing the entire time. I'm sure you do get
a little annoyed. But also at the same time, were
you going to be that guy that tells them to
sit down?
Speaker 1 (05:11):
And if I'm being told to sit down, are you
gonna do it? Are you gonna listen to them? There's
nobody that makes them the police.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Of the situation. You may get escorted out.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Well, I mean, okay, if security comes in, then that's
a different situation.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Right, get the blue coats on your ass.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
I'd just be curious to know, like what the the
overall opinion is of our listeners when it comes to
concert etiquette, because it's kind of unspoken rules that people have.
I guess we spoke about them yesterday and we're speaking
about them now. But there's no like when you walk
into a concert, there's no list of things don't talk,
don't sing along. You just have to, like I guess,
(05:46):
realize that that's what's expected of you as somebody going
to a concert.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Don't wear a T shirt of the band that you're
going to see.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
You know again, Like I say that you I'm not
serious about that one. Like, if that's how you want
to go and be a fan and wear a Tyler
Child's T shirt in the front row of a Tyler
Childer's show, that's fine.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
You do that. You can be you can mark out
if you want to. There's nothing that a movie. Is
that from a movie or because I think it is
from you?
Speaker 1 (06:12):
I think I think it might be from a movie.
But yeah, it's it's not something you have to follow.
It's not the Gospel's.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Slow gown shirt there your next show. Let me tell you, hey,
you can do that.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Uh, let me ask you about this that Louder than
Life there was a woman who not only got on
top of somebody's shoulders, she stood on top of somebody's shoulders,
so basically creating like a I don't know, twelve or
thirteen foot tall human being locking everybody behind her.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Okay, this is good, yeah to me? Okay, are you
saying fair or foul in this, yeah, like on something
like that.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Okay, now we're really pushing the envelope of obnoxious fan
behavior because now I can't see. Now, yeah, you can't
see at all. Like you you don't even have a
chance if you're behind that person.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
It's a little different than being behind just six foot
four Jones because you can kind of go shoulder to shoulder.
But when you've got a combined human being of nine
feet tall, then you're just kind of at a loss.
And if it's shoulder to shoulder, then it really can
be tough to see. But you know, you always see that, right,
Like go to the biggest concerts of all time, and
there's always somebody on somebody else's shoulders, right, So I
(07:18):
feel like that's that's not new. That's been around for
a while.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
One thing to sit on somebody's shoulders, another thing to
stand on top of their shoulders, like yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Exactly, like a cheerleader, like you're I saw that.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
I wasn't there to see it when it actually happened,
but I saw somebody post that on the Louder than
Live Facebook message group and people were split on it.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
It's amazing like that, I don't like you standing.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Yeah, it's amazing that some people actually would defend that. Like,
I don't think I can defend that behavior.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
I understand if it's a kid, I think that's gonna
be given a past. I'd even understand if you're you're
sitting on somebody's shoulders. I mean, I, like I said,
we've seen that before. You're standing up like a psychopath
on somebody's shoulders like that, that's no. You get down.
You're gonna hurt yourself up there.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
So if I'm creating like the rules of things you
can't do at a concert, that might be one of
the very few. Don't stand on somebody else's shoulders. Other
than that, you can sing along, you can talk. I'm
not gonna get that annoyed by it. I'm still going
to enjoy the show regardless.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
No, make sure you're not singing at the top of
your lungs. I've seen some Taylor Swift fan videos though
Shannon of just bawling, just just screaming until their voice
is gone, and that can get really annoying, is it not.
I mean, well, part of you call somebody did not
sing in a concert.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Yeah, but if you go to a if you go
to a Taylor Swift show, I mean, don't you know
what you're signing up for? Don't you know? That's part
of it? Don't you know that her fan base for
the well not all of it, but a good actually
her fan base ages are kind of spread throughout, but
there's a lot of like teenage fans that are going
to scream at the top of their lungs and screech.
And that's just part of it going to a Taylor
(08:56):
Swift show. If I go to that show, I have
to go in knowing that that's probably going to happen.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
I went to a Dave Chappelle show. I almost had
to turn around and tell people to shut up. They
were talking throughout the entire thing, Shannon, And that's I
think a little different than a concert because you've you've
got to listen to what the comedian is saying. Yeah, right,
So I think there is a little difference there, But
I don't know those This is a good, good question
to ponder, Shannon, because you want to let people enjoy
their stuff. But if you're ruining my concert experience, you know,
(09:23):
maybe you do have to say something at times. But
Matt's did seem like somebody pete in his cheerios the
other day. He is his rules.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
He single handedly made himself the concert etiquette police. I'd
like to hear from you guys eight five nine two
eight oh twenty two eighty seven at Billy our Sports
at Shannon the Dude on Twitter. Now you want to
listen to KSR Billy because we've got the ultimate fan
experience that we are giving away to some lucky listeners
of the Blue White Game. Did you see that? Did
(09:53):
you see all the stuff that we're giving away? I
just heard what Matt was saying.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Is there a list?
Speaker 1 (09:57):
There's a whole list. Okay, let me just read you
the list.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
First of all, you're gonna get two center court lower
level tickets to the Blue White preseason game. Nice, pretty
good start.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Access to the pregame meet and greet. You get to
meet the players. Cool.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
You get a pregame private viewing of the team warm
up and the team practiced Jym, you get to watch
them warm up. A player intro. This is this is
what's cool. A player intro experience where you and a
player will create and perform a pregame handshake that that
may be either dap up a player or whatever you
want to do.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
That's a special moment. I'll never forget dapping up a
player during the pregame warm up.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Do you have like a special handshake that you've like
with close friends that you.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
Do And yeah, we got like a little seven second
handshake thing that people would be embarrassed to watch in public.
Maybe you'll see that one day a fan listen to
this one.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
A fan assistant coach in game experience where you get
to act as an assistant coach.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
During the stand up and scream go at the players
as they go up and down the court.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Is I don't know that they're going to give you
the clipboard and let you draw up a play, but
you're at least going to be able to act as
an end game assistant. You get a VIP seat on
the team bench in game. Let's see lodge access at
historic like they put a stork Historic Memorial Coliseum, which
includes free food.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
And drink, so I'm just hanging with the boys.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
And finally Club Blue merchandise, So I mean that's pretty cool.
We talked about like, what's the best giveaway we've ever
done for a contest, I mean, for any Kentucky fan,
especially diehard fans, that's got to be the biggest one.
I know they did the cruise, the Alaskan cruise, But
if you're a Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
Fan, what do you want more?
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Do you want an Alaskan cruise or the ability to
sit on the bench with the team and coach and
do an intro handshake with the players.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
I mean, that's a cool thing that we're giving away. Yeah,
it's cool about our job is that we're able to
give away a lot of things. But I don't think
I've ever even heard of experience of being in assistant
coach winning something like this. I mean that is that
is a really cool personal look into the program that
Mark Pope is offering Kentucky fans. And so how are
we doing this? And it's like a contest. He's getting
(12:12):
like qualifiers and then I don't know, just available to win.
Don't ask me about the details. I have no further
information other and that's what you can win. I don't
know how you win it.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
Matt has that in his brain, so he'll and I
don't know it, like I you know, he's.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Going to shush somebody at a concert.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
He's going to Coast video proof he's going to cook
up some sort of contest to give that away. But hey,
that's why you listen to KSR to figure out how
we're going to do it. And you know, big Blue
Madness coming up, Billy. I mean, have expectations started to
become just higher and higher as we go throughout this offseason.
You know the ridiculous hype practice stories. To now we
(12:51):
got players saying that this is the best shooting team
that they've ever been a part of and likely ever
will be a part of. I feel like we're just
building this team up, up and up and up and up,
and expectations are getting even higher as we now creep
into big Blue Madness coming up tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
No kind of like Kerkriesa saying they hadn't had one
bad practice yet. And you know, I'll be honest, I
think we probably would have talked ourselves into being optimistic
closer and closer to the season, no matter who the
coach was. But the fact that Mark Pope has taken
so kindly to this fan base, I think there is
even more of an excitement to see modern basketball, to
see an experienced Kentucky basketball team, to just hit the
(13:30):
ground running with a new regime, Shannon, So absolutely. I
think we are building and building the excitement as we
get closer. You know, we've got our show at Kentucky
Branded tomorrow. That's gonna be a lot of fun. We'll
always get a big pop in some excitement than day
before Big Blue Madness and the same weekend as a
big Vanderbilt game. It's you know, this is with Keenlan,
this is a gonna could be a weekend to remember.
(13:53):
Ricky p making the flight in too. Who knows if
he'll be at Big Blue Madness or not, but you
know he's gonna be on the sideline with Mark Stoops
maybe he will. And the fan experience with the football team.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Yeah, yeah, you know, I guess when you're a donor,
I don't think all donors get to be introduced at
the football games. But if you're Patino, I guess you
get too.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
Well, they're personal friends, you know, he's him and Mark Stoops,
Eddie Graham, they're all yucking it up and if I'm
sure drinking bourbon and wine.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
I'm sure they do. First of all, introduce Patino in
some former fashion. You just don't have them to the
game and just ignore his existence at the game. You
don't need, you know, just just not even acknowledge the
fact that he's there. Right, So that means I think
that they have to introduce him some way. What's the
best way to do it though? Isn't to introduce him individually?
Speaker 2 (14:40):
Is it to introduce him with Mark Pope?
Speaker 1 (14:44):
I mean he's not on the coaching staff.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
So that's simple answer here, simple answer here. But why
of Kentucky? Okay, just like all the other celebs that come,
But you know what, you feel like there's there'd be
a buzz once you know, people start to see him
walk out of the tunnel, you know what I mean,
It'd almost be like the surprise would be ruined a
little bit. But yeah, I think that's that would be
the natural lay to do it, or repel from the ceiling.
I think that's the only other option. I mean, if
(15:08):
we can get Rick Patino in a cape, coming down
a cape, repelling with the National Guard or something like that,
that would be the electricity that we need. And then
Matthew Mitchell comes out and does a little shimmy and
Kenny Brooks right there.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
But here talking about big Blue madness. I'm talking about
the football game itself. Though, Oh you're talking about football.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
We'll both you know. I guess it'd be hard to
repel from the ceiling.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
That's that's what I'm saying. You know, he's going to
be at the football game. We don't know that he's
going to be at Big Blue Madness. I said, there's
a chance that maybe he would be, but uh, he's
definitely going to be at the football So at the
football game, how do you do it?
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Skydive? Just bring him in?
Speaker 1 (15:42):
Yeah, a flyover and drop down Patino.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
That's right. You know, Drew got to do the experience.
I don't think he was skydiving, but he flew with
those fighter jets, the Blue Angels, that's true.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Like like, you know, somebody at parachutes down never gets booed, right.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
Yeah, what is he gonna boo the parachute?
Speaker 5 (15:57):
Like?
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Has anybody ever booed the guy that does the why?
I know, it doesn't matter who it is. We put
him out there, he does the why. You get cheered,
universal applause.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
Oh there'll be some booze for Ricky p though, don't
you worry?
Speaker 1 (16:07):
Well again, though, I think it depends on how they
introduce him. If they introduce Hey, everybody welcome UK, Hey, coach, Mark,
Pope and Rick, and then maybe Pope gets the mic
and introduces Rick Patino.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
You know, yeah, a lot more applause there than it
would be just a random introduction. You're right.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
So either way though, it's going to be a lot
of fun this weekend. A lot going on, and we'll
talk about all of it. And we want to hear
from you eight five nine two eighth twenty two eighty seven.
If you want to chime in on the concert etiquette,
if you want to add some rules for people that
you think they should follow when they go to a concert.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Already been getting some, all right, We'll.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Get into that and a whole lot more coming up
next here on the ksrpre Show. It is the KSR
pre Show eight five nine, two eighth twenty two eighty seven.
Or I guess the people chiming in on the concert etiquette.
Casey's sending us a video of her screaming at the
top of her lungs during a Miren Morris concert. So
there's that. Matt wouldn't like that, Billy. You've probably got
(17:00):
some others coming in on the text machine.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Yeah, I got a few Ken's Cats said. My concert
rule is no one can bring Matt Jones, which I
think is a good rule if you're trying to keep
the peace. A lot of people are saying, I don't
want to hear somebody sing that loudly next to me.
One person says, don't want to hear drunk Debbie screaming
the song while I'm trying to hear the actual vocalists
sing the song of the concert that I'm at, and
(17:25):
I you know, so.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
You're telling me that people are singing so loudly individually
that they don't need a microphone, and that their voice
is louder than the person who's actually up on stage.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
I mean, if you're in a crowd of fifty thousand people,
maybe it is, but they've got loud speakers. You should
be able to hear that. That's my point. Like, yeah,
maybe in an intimate setting, or if you're just going
acoustic and somebody is screaming right next to you, maybe drunkenly,
it coulduld be a little annoying. I'm a little surprised
by how many people are talking about people loudly singing
(17:55):
next to you. Also, one part of it. Well, I
do too, but at the same time, maybe of drunk
singing can get pretty annoying. One person says, don't spill
beer on me. Pretty simple rule.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Yeah, okay, I'm down with that. You spill beer on me,
you owe me a beer. That's the rule that you
want to do. Some concert etiquette rules there you go,
don't spere it, don't spill a beer on me, or
y be.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
One person said how much more hate would Rick get
if we lost the game that he comes to? So
if you lose to you blaming Ricky.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Especially a football game, No, absolutely not. Well, if he's
on the sideline, oh yeah, yeah, that's right, he said
in his tweet. He's on the sideline.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
He's going to be helping coach. Yeah. So yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
If Frick Betino draws up a play on in football
and we follow it, yeah, then we can get mad
at him. If not, then no, you can't blame him.
Speaker 6 (18:43):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
We had the first look at the the glass led
light floor. Man, how cool is that? I tweeted a
retweeted a picture of that or video of that this morning.
That thing is amazing. I can't wait to see this
tomorrow night in action. It's it's what Pope said is
going to be the first of its kind that any
college basketball fans have seen.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Now, they're not playing on this court, right, like the
scrimmage is for the Blue White game. Are they gonna
play any.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Basketball on this court for a Big Blue Madness right?
Speaker 2 (19:10):
Yeah, I don't know that.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
I don't know that they're gonna keep that for the
Blue White game, but Big Blue Madness, Yes, yeah, because.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
I feel like i'd get distracted. Honestly, Shannon, we're playing
on that led court because how cool it looks, I
would come, do you not spend half the time looking
down and looking at that thing?
Speaker 1 (19:26):
Well, I don't think it's gonna be going They're not
gonna be running a screen saver on it during play,
like while there's actually the.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Little VHS logo that's trying to hit the corner.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Yeah, like I saw like in the video there's like
clouds going across the floor. I don't think they're gonna
have that going on like while the game is going on,
unless it's Big Blue Madness, and it doesn't really matter
anyway because you're just going through you know, drills and stuff.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
So I mean, it'll be very cool. This is This
looks like the future too, don't you think like ten
years from now, these would be a little bit more commonplace.
Maybe not like regular season games it being used for,
but you could.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Even use it in regular season games, but you have
to just not use it like while the play is
going on, like, but something to like entertain the crowd
during timeouts. Absolutely, like this is common over in Europe.
I guess they use it a lot over there, But
you know, we've only seen I've only seen it once
and that was at the NBA All Star Game earlier
this year. But I think it's it's forward thinking. And
they chose Kentucky, by the way, to do this with
(20:20):
other they did. The company with the floor chose Kentucky.
There was you know, a few different schools that they
had in mind, and they chose Kentucky just based on
their their their history and the fact that twenty thousand
plus people are going to be there to see it.
So I was obviously good advertising for them too.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
No, No, this is I feel like a little something
to inject a little energy back into the event. I
think there's we're not kidding anybody when we say that
it hasn't been the best over the past few years.
It feels like maybe the guys have been forced to
dance in the past, but it.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Might be something though, to keep you off your phone,
right because during timeouts, everybody's on their phone. And if
you have this thing in front of you, that's like
a massive phone that can show you replays. It's even
got the capability of doing like a like if Mark
Pope wants to get an iPad and draw up a play,
you can see the play being drawn up on the
led floor itself.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
I like that a lot. I think like that a lot. Yeah,
that's right. And you know, with Krogerfield getting the new
light show as well, Hentucky stepping up a little bit
when it comes to the presentation, and that's what we've
asked for in the past few years. So credit to
them for doing that.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
Speaking of basketball floors, I saw that the Arkansas donors
raised enough money to bring back the Arkansas Slabbering Hog.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
Is they do it? They did it, So congratulations Arc.
Here you go. Now you got a slobbering hog on
your court.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
This segment sponsored by our friends at DraftKings promo code

Promo code KSR with Draftkinks.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
Let's go ahead. I was gonna say, watch a little
baseball last night? Oh did you?
Speaker 6 (21:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (21:52):
I mean, that's got it done.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
Mets moving on to the NLCS. Looks like we're well,
I mean, do you think we're gonna have a Subway series?
Speaker 2 (21:59):
I think we I mean, I hate it because I
just want anybody to win. But the Yankees. That would
be good for this.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
You know nothing that our producer is a big Yankees fan.
I know, I never knew that.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
Yankees.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Yeah, so they they won last night. They're now one
went away from going to the ALCS. And let's see,
Dodgers won last night. Tigers one went away from going
to the AOCS as well.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
So there you go. I was watching the Yankees game.
Bob Costas just retired. Dude, he is terrible. Like is
he like he is? He is a Yankees homer, trying
to let every moment breathe like you need to talk,
like talk a little more. We're gonna take a break.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
We're gonna talk some more coming up next right here
on the KSR pre show KSR pre show rolls on Billy.
If there's one thing I've noticed, it's that our callers
on the pre show have much less patience than the
KSR callers do. Look on the pre show, if we
leave somebody on hold for like eight minutes, you don't
get to them. They're they're out, they just dip out.
(22:54):
On KSR, we get people that hold on for like
an hour and a half to get on. So I
guess we're the little guys.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
That's rare because we don't make people wait very often.
You know, John Short calls the show specifically because he
doesn't have to wait on hold for an hour and
a half exactly. Sometimes they fall asleep.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
So if you called in, we had a couple of
callers and then I guess I didn't get to you
quick enough.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
Sorry about that, Uh, call back in.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
I'll get to you quicker if you If you give
us a call back eight five nine to twenty two
eighty seven, Billy, if you call right Way Autoglass, somebody
will answer immediately. Go out to weight on hold eight
five nine five two three ten ninety eight is their number.
You can also go to Rightwayautoglass dot com that's our
ite wayautoglass dot com.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
You have a crack in your windshield, they.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Can take care of it directly and even work with
your insurance companies so that you don't have to they'll
come to you. They can do same day replacement on
your windshield.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
And it's all there at rightwayautoglass dot Com.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
A little random, but I do want to give a
couple of shout outs for some birthdays today. A couple
of our listeners, doctor Dan and Andy E, both celebrating
birthdays today, So happy birthday to them. And then also
Mario Lopez's birthday today. Shannon, did you watch Save by
the Bell of course back in the day. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
And Mario Lopez, I mean, is he made of plastic
these days?
Speaker 3 (24:05):
Like?
Speaker 1 (24:06):
How much botox is in that forehead? I think so
he's probably. I don't know how old he is. Let
me guess he's older than I am. So I'm going
to say he's not fifty yet.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
I don't think up there. Yeah, I don't think he's
fifty though.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
I'm going to say Mario Lopez is forty nine, fifty.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
One, fifty one? Wow, he is fifty? All right, you're close,
But it still looks the same. Yep, Father Times Undefeated.
Yes it is.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
Injury report came out for the Cats. Little surprise to
see Brock vandergriff On there. He's listed as probable, which
means he will probably play, but at least he is
I was surprised to see him on the list. Also,
Chip train him in, Maxwell Harriston going to be out again.
It looks like for this game coming up on Saturday. Billy,
do you become concerned at all with what you've seen
(24:55):
on the injury report?
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Ummm no, no, not really. I think you know it is.
You know, Brock Vandergriff's a little surprising, but remember he
had a shoulder injury right after the loss to South
Carolina that he kept to himself and wanted to be
a gamer, So maybe that is something to do with that.
But it's much better to see probable around his name
than questionable. You know, Courtland Ford getting a probable is
(25:18):
probably the thing that sticks out to most of me.
That's a guy that I think that they've missed in
their depth on the offensive line as they struggled a
little bit. But we've talked a lot about the two names,
chip train him and Maxwell Harrison. I think we both
expected him to be out for this game, and I'm
hoping we get at least one of those guys back
for that stretch between Tennessee and Texas, Shannon, because I
think they'd go a long way for you trying to
(25:38):
pull off one of those upsets. But you know, Chip,
maybe the shad and sharp of the UK football team
this year, not with the way that the situation was handled,
but just somebody that we have been clamoring to see, right,
and that that is the surprise.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
I mean, you know, guy that we thought would maybe
be out a couple of weeks tops, and now here
we are going into midway part of the season and
still not playing yet.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
But it's a good thing will Cox has played so well,
or then there'd be real questions about the depth of
that running back room and you know, some missed opportunities
there with just dsk back there.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
I mean, here's what I'll say about the game coming
up though on Saturday. I mean, regardless of how it
plays out, Yeah, this game Saturday has completely flipped the
way that I think myself and a lot of fans
now look at the schedule. You know, when the schedule
came out, and it comes out every year. We go, okay, well,
we can count on the three non conference games against
(26:33):
the lower tier teams as automatic wins, and Vandy those
are your four, Like if you look at the schedule
every year, those are the four games that you think
you're going to automatically win every year. And now after
this Vandy dismantling of Alabama, I think it flips everything.
Now it's not an automatic win at this point. So
(26:53):
I think that you know you got to proceed very cautiously.
If you're Kentucky playing against the team that normally is
the doorm out of the SEC.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Well, the reality right now is that you could not
count that Vandy game as a win. Just even before
the Alabama game, I believe like the last five games
in this series have been one score games, or at
least the ones at Kroger Field. Kentucky's not been good
against conference opponents at home, and you just lost to
this team at home two years ago. So even though
(27:21):
the Alabama win got the attention of the nation, I
think the game plan, at least for Mark Stoops was
that this team has our attention because we've struggled against
them in the past, and that's something you can't do
right if you're taking that next step. Vandy is not
the team that you need to be struggling with in
one score games. You know you are a Fandy fan,
I think more basketball than football. But if you enjoyed
(27:43):
the city just going oh nuts, yeah over this last
clique and the clerk.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
Ley said in his press conference yesterday that they're not
talking about Alabama anymore. That might be fine internally, like
within the team itself in the locker room, but that's
not true in college football because everybody is still wanting
to talk Vandy's went over Alabama. And I don't know
if you saw this, but uh diego Pavia. Yeah, is
now being mentioned as a Heisman candidate. I mean, oh,
I did not see that. I mean no, I mean no,
(28:11):
I mean yeah, I'm not I believe.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
I was just like, what are we doing at this point?
We got the Poise State running back, you got Travis Hunter?
Speaker 1 (28:18):
Did you ever think there would be a time we'd
be talking about a Fandy quarterback.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
It's a great point as a Heisman candidate.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
I mean, they run that modified option offense out of
a pistol formation in Alabama looked like they've never seen
an option offense in their life.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
And you know another reason why the bye week came
in a good time for Kentucky. You've getting You've gotten
two weeks to prepare for an offense that you'll probably
only see once this year. And and Pavia has been
on every single show this week. You know what I mean.
It's a he's spent more time talking to the media
than he has been practicing. So maybe that works in
Kentucky's advantage as well. The emotional high of just beating
(28:52):
the number one team in the country for the first
time in program history. You're getting calls from alumni, You're
doing media events that you're not used to, So maybe
that's a good distraction. But Kentucky is you know, they've
They've got such a good defensive unit this year that
I've I've got a lot of faith in them to
be able to stop that offen.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
All right, I promised I wouldn't keep these callers on
hold long. Billy, Oh yeah, don't hang up. Billy has
been on hold for two minutes and nineteen seconds. So
let's go to Belly. What's up, Billy? Billy, how are.
Speaker 5 (29:18):
You a good guys, Hey, thanks for having me on
two things. First, I'm twenty five, and I'm all for
bringing Rick back, just the nostalgia that he had that
he brings with my parents. It's fun seeing the joy
that he had that he brings them, because I mean, essentially,
Rick is our parents' version of cow.
Speaker 6 (29:40):
So I'm all for that.
Speaker 5 (29:42):
Second, not really concert etiquette, but more so sporting or
you know, football games. We have football season tickets and
there's a gentleman, an older guy in his wife to
sit down below us, and during the Georgia game, they
got irritated and mad at us for yelling and screaming
during third down. And I just don't understand why people
like that come to the game if they're not going
(30:02):
to get roundy and you'll have fun and try and
bring the home home field advantage.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
I'm completely with you. Unless they have a disability and
can't stand up. Why are yeah, I mean, why are
you going to the game if you're not going to
be there to cheer and be allowed. I mean that's
that's your role as a fan at a game. So
I'm totally with you.
Speaker 5 (30:21):
And it's like they sit there the whole time like
they have like the cushion seats because they pay extra
for them when they just sit there and they they
don't even stand up and watch the game, Like they
just sit there and watch the game, win the jumbo tron.
It's like, if you're gonna do that, just just stay
at home and that.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
Yeah, I appreciate the call, thankfully agree. And that's why
you know when Matt was talking about playing at Old
Miss is not an intimidating atmosphere. Neither was Kroger Field
for that very reason, because of certain fans that won't
get up and cheer.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
I mean, to have that energy, you got to do it.
You're there for a reason. You know, when I had
season tickets in Tampa, there was a woman that had
an airhorn and brought it to every single game.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
Can't do that though. Artificial noise maker.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Now that was a lot. Well, yeah, you had to
seek it sneaking in. She always wore a glove too,
and she'd scream out and go booty call, booty call,
booty calls where she screamed. That's what we called her
booty call.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
Okay, to his other point, you know, it's interesting, I
guess if you are around the age of twenty five,
twenty six, we'll say twenty five to thirty. You probably
don't really have much memory of Rick Batino, so you've
always seen him as the villain. You've always seen him
as the lovel coach. It's interesting how fans perspectives are
(31:27):
based on your age, because if you're not over thirty,
you don't remember Rick Batino.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
Here, you know, Yeah, you're talking to one of them.
Twenty nine years old right here, had no memories of
Rick Batino. It's crazy to me. That's crazy, the Louisville guy.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
So I guess the way you view him as probably
differently than how I'm much much different.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
Yeah, but you know the fact that, like you know,
he rose the program from the ashes of you know,
a lot of tough times and brought a title to Kentucky.
I think there is a lot of good will. But
you know, he left for a payday. Let's not get
that twisted. You know, millions of dollars that he got
from the believe it is the Boston Celtics to leave Kentucky.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
What are you doing in that situation? Seventy million dollars, Billy,
here's seventy million. You can stay Kentucky. If you want
to bye bye. But I'm with the Celtics and I'm
offering you seventy mili.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
I'm probably going to Boston.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
You probably are. I don't think fans had a problem
with them going to Boston. It's the problem was him
coming back to Louisville. I mean, yeah, that's it. I
mean that nobody cares that he left for Boston. Nobody's
blaming him for that. They're blaming him, blaming him for
being able to take just about any coaching job in
college basketball and choosing Louisville.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
That was the problem. You know, easier to not blame
him when Tubby comes in and does what he does
right afterwards, so you know, you're right that tattoo is
still on his back. Yeah, he still gave some people
the finger. So as people say, time heels all and
it may be time to bring Rick Patino back. But
a good point was made yesterday. Not enough room for
(32:55):
both Patino and cow So we're gonna have to do
this at separate time intervals.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
You know, Yeah, who whatever thought that Patino would be
more popular in Kentucky than.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Grace with Kentucky fans that Kentucky all right.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
Dave has been on hold for six minutes.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Go ahead, Dave, Good morning fellas.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
Hey, y'all doing good, good good. I just had to
call it here and y'all talk about Mark Pope and
the basketball and football and it all gets me excited.
But my wife and I were up at the Mark
Pope announcement and we got so excited we thought, well,
we're gonna put our name in for the season tickets.
We thought as a joke, would do it. What we
got drawn out and guess what, we are proud owners
of season tickets for the first time ever. Oh no,
(33:33):
I can't wait for the season to get going.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
Congrats, man, that was awesome. That is so awesome. So
do you think you'll be able to make it to
most of the home games?
Speaker 3 (33:42):
Oh? We're my wife and are both Sarica retired, So yeah,
we're gonna make it to all of them.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
Dude, that is perfect.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
And I never really realized that I had that many
friends either.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
Oh yeah, you're gonna have a bunch of friends you
probably haven't heard from in thirty years, going, hey, man,
out hear it?
Speaker 4 (33:59):
Guys?
Speaker 2 (33:59):
You taking it?
Speaker 1 (34:00):
Hey, hey, especially since you just announced it on the
radio to the entire state of Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
You have a lot of people.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
You have now they called me crazy day with the cake.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
You cut out on this. Sorry man, say it again. Okay,
crazy David, we lost them.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
I don't know. Yeah. Well, one rule for you, make
sure you you go there and cheer, stand up and cheer.
Be good fan. Yeah, that's that's the thing. Yeah, don't
don't be don't wear sweater vests down in the lower
bowl and poop poo other fans for cheering. It's a
sporting event. I'm with you. I'm with you.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
Eight five, nine, two twenty two eighty seven. Brian and
Franklin and Otis hang on. We're gonna get you on
the other side of this break. We'll be ready to
hang up on the ksrpre Show. Final segment of the
KSR pre Show at Shannon the Dude at Billy R
Sports on Twitter. I got a question that I'm going
to answer from a fan in just a minute. But
first I'll see on the phones that Brian and Franklin
has been on the I've been on the phones for
(34:56):
eleven minutes and fourteen seconds, So let's go to Brian
and Franklin.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
I don't want to leave you hanging with up right?
Thanks more than chance.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
I was about five seconds away from hanging out.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
I can sense it.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
I can sense it. You were about to hang up.
Man like telling you KSR pre show listeners. They're like, okay,
get me on in ten minutes or I'm hanging up
on you KSR listeners. They'll stick, They'll go from beginning
to end and stay on hold. But what do you got, Brian, I.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
Got a little advice for Billy. So next time, if
I'm understanding this, right, were you standing behind that at
the concert?
Speaker 6 (35:25):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (35:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (35:26):
You correctly behind him?
Speaker 1 (35:27):
Why were you behind him? You should have been in
front of them.
Speaker 6 (35:29):
I was.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
I got there right as the show started, so I
kind of had to shimmy into any available open space.
You know what I'm talking about, dude. Yeah, so end
up behind him.
Speaker 4 (35:38):
So next time, just start singing to the top of
your lungs and when he turns around tells you to shush,
then just make a deal with him. Say, look, how
about you let me in front of you and I'll
shut up.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
And he'll look at you and go no, and still
expect you to shut.
Speaker 4 (35:52):
Up, and didn you just keep saying it?
Speaker 2 (35:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (35:56):
At that point, I think he would just probably have
security or remove you.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Yeah, I probably would get I guess I've got somebody
to remove me. You're right, or or Brian.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
You know. I don't think Billy originally was even invited
to this thing, And if Billy acted like that, I
don't think Billy would ever be invited again to anything.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
In the future.
Speaker 1 (36:12):
So it's it's in Billy's best interest to be on
his best behave.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
Was originally invited. Thank you, my name was on the list.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
I want to use your Oh okay, it's not what
I heard.
Speaker 4 (36:23):
But then Shanna, he could be like you and he
just don't invite Matt over to his little get togethers
at his house.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
I don't know, Billy, do you even have get togethers?
Speaker 3 (36:31):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (36:31):
We got no room. The garage is overflowing with stuff.
Won't allow anybody over.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
All right, Brian, I have a great day. Fellas, appreciate it. Man,
Thanks thanks bing. Somebody writes in on Twitter being a
Braves fan and with both the Mets and Phillies and
the NL East with Atlanta, were you wanting the Mets
or Phillies to win? That's an easy answer. I was
happy that the Mets beat the Phillies. Oh you're I mean, look,
I've talked about my disdain for the state of Kansas,
(36:58):
and we're talking about like my least favorit cities. Philadelphia
has got to be right there at the top. Like
I despise Philadelphia. I don't know anything. I'm trying to think, Like,
is there any redeeming quality about Philadelphia that I'll like?
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Steaks?
Speaker 1 (37:11):
Okay, I'll give them cheese steaks. Shout out to cheese steaks.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
Uh? Is that it you done? Hang on the Liberty bell.
I guess that's cool. Yeah, yeah, there you go, Benjamin Franklin.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Uh, anything else I possibly like about Philadelphia?
Speaker 2 (37:28):
I hate e c W.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
I hate the Phillies. I'm not a fan of the Flyers.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
The Eagles.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Worst fan of Eagles, can't stand the Eagles is on
the Philadelphia seventy.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
I like him.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
But I'm talking about Philadelphia itself.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
Nope, not a lot of Redeems. I got one. I
got one.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
What about the Is it like they're like a Philly
sushi roll with cream cheese? No?
Speaker 2 (37:50):
I never had that.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
You never had the Phi phill Yeah, the Philly, the
Philadelphia role, the Philly role.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
It's got cream cheese in it.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Yeah, it's got Philadelphia cream cheese.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
I guess.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
Okay, well, there's four things I like now about Philadelphia,
the Liberty Bell, cream cheese, cheese, steaks, and.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
The Philly role. That you're a cream cheese guys, but
not mayonnaise. Huh, what are you talking about? That's completely different?
I know, but I just just want to get like,
like fax straight.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
Yeah, cream cheese is good. Okay, like cream cheese. You
put that on a bagel. That's delicious.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
You can put may on them.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
Yeah, Otis, who's been on hold for eleven minutes and
eighteen seconds.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
What's up? Otis? Thanks for your patients, morn and gentlemen.
Speaker 6 (38:28):
It's always a pleasure to talk to you. And I
want to take congratulations to that winner who want him
and him and his wife that won the season ticket.
That's always awesome. It's just been a roller co world.
We'd roller coaster with them, you know, coming close with Georgia.
That was a heavyweight baut that came down to the
last blow and they fortunately got the last blow on them.
And then we took care of business the following week,
and then we took care of Old Miss Now this
Saturday Vanderbilt. I'm glad it came at the right time.
(38:49):
We had a week off to prepare. They coming off
emotional high with the Alabama. I don't think they're gonna
be really locked in the focus. They going ready to play,
but they're gonna be they just coming off that high
day and even be locked in. So I'm lea Kentucky
caught them at the best time. I believe Stoop's gonna
have them boys prepare after that weekend, after that little
dojo and they went through early in the season. Congrats
to Mark Pope's and everything he's done to recruitse he
(39:10):
got in and the players he's bringing. And I'm proud
of the Big Blue Nation and I'm happy for Big
Blue Madness. Hopefully everything turned out well for him and
it's gonna be a great season for all UK players
and family and everyone. And you just have a great day.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
Thank you, guys, All right there you go, Otis, We
appreciate it. Thank you for the call. He covered a
lot of ground there and not much time. We talked
about this earlier this week the bye week. How much
does that benefit Kentucky. It would be interesting to see Billy.
If both Kentucky coming off a win over number five
Old Miss and Vandy coming off a win over number
(39:42):
one Alabama, how high emotions would be running for both
of those teams. But I think with the bye week,
Kentucky had plenty of time to process that and move on,
with Vandy trying to put the Alabama win behind them
quickly and look forward. I think it's gonna be interesting
to see how both teams respond on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
Yeah, I think if you asked Vandy players, they would
probably want to buy week this week instead of playing
a good team on the road like Kentucky, just because
they are still hungover, not just figuratively but literally. So
hopefully Kentucky has gotten that celebration out of the way.
They usually have like a twenty four hour rule, Shannon.
So it's been plenty of time for that. And look,
this is encouraging. You've got a lot to build on.
(40:19):
Now you're at the point of the season where you're
at the record many predicted, and now you can continue
to build off that momentum. So I think that it
was a great time for the bider comfort.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
You know, in the last two weeks. I mean We've
seen the number five, the number four, and the number
one teams all lose to unranked opponents. I mean, do
you think that maybe we're just seeing the effects of
the transfer portal creating more parody in college football?
Speaker 2 (40:40):
I mean, you know, with.
Speaker 1 (40:41):
Guys that don't have to set out and be the
back up at a school, they can just move on
to another school and be the guy there, like like
Pavia for Vandy.
Speaker 2 (40:52):
Right, and not just Pavia who kind of worked his
way up to his position, look at like a second,
third or fourth string player in the SEC that just
wants more playing. I mean, simply put, if they can
get I'm sure some nil money, that is another factor
that would have them transferred to another school. So yeah, absolutely,
there is definitely more parody in the sport of college football,
and even at mid majors levels, like even at Western Kentucky,
(41:14):
they are able to benefit from things like this, So
it's not just the rich get richer. I think we're
seeing the entire sport change. And even with the twelve
team playoff devaluing regular season games, it's still exciting. Not
like we have to have it where if you lose
one game you're out of the playoff and the season's
over for you. I think this is a happy medium
(41:35):
that we've found.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
