X Fine Italian Dining here in Lesington in the City
Center on Main Street. This Thursday edition of the show
will be a fun one, celebrating a big win against
the Oklahoma Sooners last night. Good morning, Shannon the Dude,
How are you Manye?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Hey doing good man? What a what a win last night.
I think March Maddness came two days early or three
days early last night. That was amazing. What a finish.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Hey, It does feel like March is here and that
is one of the best times of the year. So
very excited for what's ahead, including the number one team
in the nation over the weekend. For the Kentucky team,
we'll talk about the win over Oklahoma. The Louder than
Life lineup that was announced yesterday. I'm sure Shannon's got
some strong thoughts on that, and we'll get to your
phone calls today A five nine two eight oh two

(01:04):
two eight seven. But Shannon, we start the show. I
need a ruling, Shannon one. I want to apologize to
a caller last night. We had a bit of a
situation and I need your opinion on this.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Okay, I heard about that. Well, I didn't hear it
when it happened, but I woke up to some tweets
that were tagging me about it. I'm like, I don't know,
Like I don't know what you're talking.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
About, tagging you about it?

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Yeah, Like, well, you got to get a hold of
your boy Billy over here. What is he doing. I'm going,
I don't know. I didn't I didn't I didn't even
hear what happened.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
So you tell me, Yeah, let me explain the situation
here and you can tell me what you think. You know,
these late night postgame shows, something always seems to happen.
And it's one thirty in the morning and we're ripping
through calls. Shannon. It's a big win, so everybody in
the state is trying to call in sure, and we
had one of our frequent callers. Heather call into the
Postgame Show last night, and I love Heather, I do,

(01:53):
and she joins the Postgame Show all the time. In fact,
if she was going to be on the show last night,
it was going to be her third straight week being
on the show. And when I say weak, I don't
mean just weak, I mean each game she's been on
the show, Shannon. So I told her as I answered
the phone, like I do with many callers, Shannon, is

(02:14):
that Hey, Heather, we've had you on a lot. You know,
we like to we would like to spread the love
and give other people a chance to be on the show.
I'll put you on today, but after this, we're gonna
need to take a break from the Postgame Show. And
she goes okay, Billy. Fifteen twenty minutes pass by, and
Heather goes on the Postgame Show and she's crying. Shannon,

(02:34):
I had hurt her feelings. It was the saddest call
I had ever heard. She was just upset. Her feelings
were hurt because I told her that she couldn't be
on the Postgame Show anymore. And one I genuinely want
to apologize. I do like Heather. I love our callers.
And I want them to be a part of the show.

(02:54):
That's what makes CHAOSR so special. But Shannon, I need
a ruling because while iologize, I will do it again.
We do this all the time to Bob and James Towns,
the voices of the world. I don't think people understand
that people call the show every single time there's a
postgame show and if unless you want to hear the

(03:16):
same callers every single time, it's up the producer to
break it up every now and Shannon fair or foul
telling a caller that, you know, sometimes we need to
take a break from you calling the show.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Here's the thing, Like some callers have to call every
single show, and we're like, you know what, you got
to mix it up a little because some people can't
get in because literally the same people who call every
show jam up the lines to where you can't ever
get any like any new callers on. Sometimes we want
to hear from new people. Like it doesn't mean if
you're a regular caller, we don't want to hear from you.

(03:49):
We absolutely want to hear from you. We appreciate you
and appreciate that loyalty of being such a fan of
the show. That you want to call in all the time.
But Billy, I think you know, one or two calls
a week tops is good for a caller. If you're
calling more than that, that is too much. So I

(04:10):
don't have to hear like the call I want to
hear like what she said.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Go, I mean I don't have the audio.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
You don't have it, Okay, Well I like to hear it.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Send you a link and you could edit it.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
But yeah, but I mean, like, okay, so that's what
everybody was calling on you about.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Oh yeah, I mean I've been getting killed. I've been
called a coward. I mean no, no, no, no, told that
somebody needs to check on my fiance because I sound
like an abuser.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Like, let's let's take a deep breath. I feel bad
for hurting Heather's feelings. I do, But this is a radio.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Show ye were to entertain. Yeah, we're not trying to
hurt anybody's feelings. But if we go to the phones
and just the same caller every single show, that is
not a good radio show. And it makes it sound
like you have four listeners on the biggest sports show
or the biggest radio show in all of Kentucky. There
are a lot of people listening. I have people all
the time. Go man, I listen all the time. I

(05:01):
try to call in. I can't ever get through. Was
because there's some people who call in every single show
and we have to mix it up. So yeah, don't
get offended if we tell you, hey, let's call back
maybe next week or call back next game, you know,
like take take one game off or take one show up.
We don't want you to take it off from listening.
You know, we don't want that. But you know some

(05:23):
people are better listeners than callers. They are. We're being
real about it, you know. While we're talking about.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Well, get back to a point that you mentioned, and
that's is if they if a caller's call isn't answered
a lot of times, they will just immediately call back.
And if that's the case, it clogs up a line
in which somebody else could be calling and we can
give another person an opportunity to be on the show.
So it's just I feel bad because you could hear

(05:48):
An in her voice and you know what, Heather's been
through a lot, and I need to read the room
and see that maybe that's not the correct time to
do that, but Shannon, I felt like I was well
in my rights to tell people that they need to
call back another time, especially even after I still put
them on the air.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
First of all, you must really feel bad if you apologize,
because I don't think I've ever heard you say that
a word apologize.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
I know, I know, I think I don't be Two
months ago I thought no, no, no.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
You said I will take responsibility, but I won't apologize.
So now we got to take that quote and flip
it around. I apologize but I won't take responsibility.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Well, I apologize, but I'll do it again. Is kind
of how I said it this morning.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
I'm sorry, but don't think I won't shut you down again.
Here's here's the other thing, too, Like when I look
up at the phone lines and I see that you
have called the show twenty two times this week and
five hundred and seventy four times since we moved to
this new studio, which was like what a year ago,

(06:48):
and I think it resets after a while. If you've
called the show five hundred and seventy five times in
the past year or even two years, I would say
that's that's a lot of calls. So maybe you know,
maybe just listen a little bit. Yeah, it's it's not
your show, by the way. That's some people.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
That's right, thank you. You're not entitled to be on
the show because you call in.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
If you want to be on the show that much,
maybe you should start your own podcast. I don't know.
So I'm kind of with you on this, Like I
don't I don't want to make anybody cry, all right,
I don't know. Like, did you say it nicely to her?
There's also a way to say it nicely, you know.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
That's probably the I mean, I believe I did say
it nicely. I am very kind on the phone. I
try to be overly nice because during those late postgame
shows I'm known to be a little grumpy sometime.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Here's the thing, like, like John Short, we love John.
He calls in a normal amount of times, but there
have been times in the past where we had to say, hey, John,
you know, call back next week. We'd love to have
you on. Just call back next week. We're just trying
to get some new calls on. We've said that before
and John goes Oki doki no big no, no, no
big deal. Which, by the way, John, we will get
to your next segment, So don't hang up. We don't
want to hear from you. Good So, but you know,

(07:55):
that's just an example of sometimes you got to tell
people let's uh, you know, let's take a show off.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Okay. Well, I wanted your opinion, and I'm glad you're
in my camp here. I'm gonna need you to defend
me today when inevitably the callers come later and Matt
is that makes a big deal out of it.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
So did Matt make a big deal about it on
the post game show?

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Well, he just I think he didn't didn't know what
to do. He kind of played both sides. He's like,
Billy's doing his job to call it.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
If Matt's being honest, he will know he should have
taken up for you in that situation because he's told
me before, Hey, let's tell them not to call a show.
Let's talk. He's told me that before, so he can't
get on you about that, okay, So I wouldn't let
it get you too upset. He has told me before, Hey,
tell such and such take a show off call next
week we will have him on then, you know.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
And I was just being nice, you know, being kind
instead of not answering her phone like some might do,
right and just them being left to not know what happened.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
But you know, we will get there, tried Andy Bscher.
The other thing is too, if you call this show
right now, I don't know any other show in the world.
I mean maybe there are, I mean maybe like people
running a show out of their garage where the host
actually has to produce his own show. So as I'm
talking to Billy right now, some of you are calling in.
We got four callers on the line. You've called in,

(09:13):
and I you know, I'm not being rude. I'm just
literally trying to be on the air and answer the
call at the same time. So if you call in
right now, I'm gonna say, hey, if your name pops up,
hey Nancy, hang on, I'll put you on. You know,
just I don't have time to have a conversation with
the caller and host a radio show at the same time.
If you can find out a way to do that, Billy,
let me.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Know, well, yeah, a normal radio show, they might vent
you for your point and make sure that you actually
make sense.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
God forbid, I have a producer for the show, and
not the producer and host. My own show.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
Maybe one day, Shane, maybe we'll get another party.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
We had one and then we lost it. Yeah, we
got our producer privileges taken away from us.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Well, well you know I want your opinions on that, so
let me know.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Was I in the wrong, Well yeah, again, I didn't
hear the off the air conversation. But in theory, are
you wrong to tell a caller who has called over
and over and over and over and over, hey, let's
take one one game off and baby call us next time.
I think you're fine now if you say, don't ever
call the postgame show again.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
The mistreating Heather off the air, okay, but she did
air out our dirty laundry.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
As soon as she got How about her throwing you
under the bus.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Oh my god, second time publicly called me out.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
But she cried about it.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
I do feel bad, Yes, she did cry.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
You know.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Oklahoma fans are crying. They had dollar beers and free
tacos last night and still couldn't beat.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
The Cats, and still couldn't hit Brandon Garrison with one
of those dollar beers they tried after the game.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Boy was he mad? Going up into player's face right
after the game. A fan threw a beer can at him.
I mean, hold Brandon Garrison back could have easily been
a technical at the end of the game and given
free throws to Oklahoma on the other end. That did
not happen. What did happen, though, was Otega away scored
the final eighteen points of the game, including the game winner.

(10:54):
He scored every field goal from for Kentucky in the
final twelve minutes and fifty one second of the game.
It's a career high twenty eight points for Otega, who
played his old team where fans called him a trader
for leaving in the offseason. What a win for Otega
in Kentucky last night.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
A trader for getting in the transport, Well, I guess
there's a lot of traders out there. And if you
have that thought, man, he was everything last night, was he?
I mean he had. That was the maybe the greatest
homecoming I think I've ever seen. Absolutely went off hit
that circus shot there at the end. You know, without Otega,
I don't know where this team would be this season.
They wouldn't be they wouldn't they would not be anywhere

(11:32):
close to where they are because you saw last game.
You know, he scores two points, and all of a sudden,
it's like, well, we don't have that fifteen to twenty
points that we just rely on every single game and
almost take for granted at this point of the season.
But you know, Brandon Garrison hasn't mentioned had a great game,
and just overall, man to go on the road Oklahoma
was tougher. I think that a lot of people wanted

(11:53):
to give them credit for. You know, that's a team
that's playing trying to get into the tournament. They're on
the bubble right now, but that's a team that I
think still has a good chance of making the tournament.
And just a great win, that one that you had
to have last night. You had to have that win
last night if you didn't want to play on Wednesday
of the SEC tournament. So that's that's a good start.
I said, just go two and two in these last

(12:14):
four games. You got the first one out of the way,
let's take care of LSU and then against I think
Auburn and Missouri. You're kind of playing with house money
at that point.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Well Mark Pope talked about it in the postgame afterwards.
He said that you know, him and Otago were really
frustrated for the first thirty two minutes of the game,
maybe even to a point where Otega may have been
pressing a little bit trying to play well against his
former team, but he stayed present, He stayed in the
moment and had an epic response in those final eight minutes.
Really you could say the final twelve And Shannon, it

(12:44):
feels like this game is huge because of what we
alluded to begin the show. I mean, March is around
the corner, and you can't you know, you can't do
well in pressure your eyes situations until you're in them, right.
I mean, this is a perfect tune up game for
the NCAA tournament because Mark Pope, you know, he mentioned
this had all the makings of a first round game
of the NCAA Tournament. They were some weird and oddities

(13:06):
to it, the late start. I mean, it just it
was one of those games that I think could go
a long way and to help with this team finding
success in the postseason.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Yeah, you're gonna run into one of those teams that's
just gonna just, I don't know, sort of play you
differently than what you're used to seeing in SEC play,
And I feel like that's kind of what Oklahoma did
last night kind of shook things up a little bit.
Their defense at times, I feel like kind of confused
Kentucky's offense a little bit. But you know, it's just again,

(13:35):
anytime you go on the road in the SEC, I
don't care who it is, that's a huge win for you.
So I'm just looking forward to hopefully keeping this team healthy.
That's the big thing. Like Jackson Robinson with that wrist,
didn't respond well last night. You know this team, you know,
Mari turned turned his ankle early in the game, right
Andrew Carr's you know back, I'm still a little bit concerned.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
About him, didn't play down the stretch.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
Yeah, so there's still just I don't know if you
question marks as far as what is the health status
overall for this team, And that's that's really the only
thing that kind of concerns me. I mean, if this
team is healthy, I'm I think this is a Sweet
sixteen team easily if they're healthy. If not, I don't know, man,
It's just it's game by game and day by day

(14:20):
for this team right now.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Yeah, we'll see about Jackson Robinson didn't play in that
second half. Like you said, the risk didn't respond well,
Lamont Butler. You saw how important he is on the court.
I feel like everybody got better when he was there,
and he fouled out in the game, and Kentucky still
found away with him to win with those three guys
on the bench, if you include and Andrew Carr, but Channon,
if you told me before the game started, Oklahoma would

(14:42):
make more shots, they'd make more threes, they'd out rebound you,
and the only Kentucky player to hit more than one
three was Brandon Garrison, I'd say that was probably a loss.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Oh yeah, yeah, one hundred percent. I mean, if you
look at the box scorer, everything in the box score
would indicate that Kentucky's gonna lose the game. But you know, again,
it just comes down to the fight that this team has.
We saw it, you know, going back as early as
the Duke game when they were down at halftime and
they came out and just fought back. The Gonzaga game,
I look at that game as well, that those were
early indicators that Mark Pope had a team of guys

(15:13):
that were just relentless and would not quit. This team
has no quit in them, and that's that's the type
of dog. You know, we talked about that dog mentality.
That's that's dog mentality. Got that dog in That's right,
they got that dog.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
So we'll see him. It was.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
We'll see how far that can carry him. As the
calendar is about to turn over to March in a
couple of days, A.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Five nine two eight oh two two eight seven. I mean,
you gotta fine Oklahoma for throwing beer cans at players, right,
I mean, that's unacceptable. You can't allow that at all.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
Yeah, I'm glad that Brenda Garrison had some quick reflexes,
otherwise he would have eaten one of the heepers right
to the face.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
I don't know what was said to Brandon Garrison during
the game, but he was ready to kill somebody after it.
And uh, you know, like I alluded to Lucky that
that did not come with any time left on the clock,
or it could have been, you know, maybe a very
odd situation that would have led the sports shows today
if that was the case. But Kentucky gets a big win.
They turned to nineteen and nine on the year eight

(16:07):
and seven. In conference play, they will take on Auburn
on Saturday, and.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
My eleven and seven prediction is still in play. I'm
not saying it's gonna happen, but I had eleven and seven.
They're hanging on. They just can't. They gotta, they gotta
win out.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
I mean, they got a big they got a biggie,
as John Short would say on Saturday. So maybe they
can get past that. Then maybe it's a situation where
you don't play until Friday of the SEC tournament. If
you're able to win out. I mean that is still
a possibility. But we'll see how this team plays, how
healthy they get, and how they can deliver in the clutch.
We're gonna take a break when we come back. I've
got to complain about the SEC network. It was ridiculous

(16:44):
last night. You know what I'm talking about. Yeah, complain
about that. We'll take your phone calls, and I promise
not to make anybody cry this morning.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Oh yeah, nobody's gonna cry because I'm actually taking the
phone calls, not Billy. So you can call in. I'll
put you on the air. Billy will make you cry.
I will greet you with a smile and a warm
welcome and put you on the air. That the difference
between Billy and I. Everybody thinks I'm the heel. Billy's
the real hill of KSR.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
That I'll do it again. We'll be right back here
on the ksrpre Show. All right, welcome back. It is
the KSR pre Show. Little rock music brings us back.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
I not does any rock music. That is the greatest
rock band of my time. That's Stone Tipple Pilots, And
I gotta tell you, Billy, I was really excited to
see that STP will be playing Louder than Life est
this year. The funny thing was, I didn't even see
their name on there because of the way they have
the flyer they have like the band's fonts and everything,

(17:36):
and some of the bands are kind of hard to read,
like who they are?

Speaker 1 (17:39):
Bad choice to do that?

Speaker 2 (17:40):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, say that. I agree with you, man,
because I looked at this thing like three times. The
funny thing was WDRB Fox forty one News came into
the studio yesterday and they go, hey, we want to
talk to somebody and get their reaction on the Louder
than Life lineup announcement. So Vinetti naturally goes, let me
send you to the rock out. Let me send you

(18:01):
to Shannon the Dude. So after KSR yesterday. They took
me in the studio and we went through the lineup
and I kind of, you know, glossed over it, and
you know, tried to take in one hundred and sixty
bands in thirty seconds, which is impossible to do. And
as we were, as I was doing an on air break,
I go, oh my god, Stone Tible Pilots will play.
I didn't even realize it, so they got my natural reaction.

(18:23):
I love the camera because at first I was like, eh, eh,
the lineup's okay, you know, like it's good, it's not great,
and but there, let's let's not bury the line.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
I mean, let's like we can read the font of
the suid line Sunday headliner Shannon. But I mean if
you look at like Slayer, Avenge, Sevenfold, Deaf Tones.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
That is bring me the Horizon.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Bring me the Horizon, Okay, and goes back to don't
use the band font for this. But I see Evanescence there.
I mean a band I have yet to see that
I'd like to Three Days Grace. I was just talking
about working out to their music at the gym.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Breaking Benjamin is there every single year. I feel like
a perfect circle for those of you who are Tool fans.
You know that that is Maynard James Keenan's side project band.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
I see Marilyn Manson Maryland.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Manson has been there before. He'll be back rob Zombies
back for like the third or fourth time. That's the
other thing too, when you book this many bands, there's
only so many bands to pick from that have, like,
you know, a big name, and then you also have
to factor in a lot of these bands aren't touring,
so they're not going to go out and do a
one off show, so that kind of shrinks the pool
of bands that you had to pick from to begin with.

(19:33):
And then, you know, when you've been doing this for
ten years, eleven years, whatever it is, now, it's almost
impossible not to have repeat bands, you know. So some
of these bands have played there three four times. It's
just because well, there's only so many bands to pick
I mean, there is one band still waiting to play,
still waiting for the phone call at Alice Blue Gown. Yeah.

(19:54):
But other than that, here's my overall, just in a
nutshell reaction to the lineup. If you're a metal head,
you love it. If you're an old head, you hate it.
If you're somebody like me, and you're kind of I
consider myself in the middle, like I'm a rock fan
but not a metal head. I think it's good, not great.
The lineup is good, not great. Not a knock against
Louder than Life. It's actually, if anything, a compliment because

(20:19):
I feel like we got spoiled, and we got spoiled
because of the great lineups they had for years, and
then you get one like this, which some people are
calling the best lineup that they've ever seen for Louder
than Life. I would disagree, but I think just because
we've had so many great ones over the years, this
one's kind of like, ah, it's all right, well not
that great.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
On Saturday, if you see a shirtless man crowdsurfing, that
could be our man, Shannon the dude just exciting.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
Oh no, no, no, no, I won't be crowdsurfing. I'll
be all the way up in the front against the rail. Yeah,
that's what I like. That's the one band. I will
be up front. For the rest of them, I'll stay
in the back. We've got our you know, our big
loft broadcast booth back over by the main entrance, and
that's where I'm going to hang out in the moon box,
the boot box. That's gonna be where I hang out
most of the time. But for us get up the close.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
And we've talked about it, there's an art to getting
that front row right. Oh yeah, you've really got to
use your elbows to get past some people. Maybe a
little sympathy every now and then.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
Well, the thing about that easy to get up there,
you gotta like plan it out. So if you know,
like which you know, you got two stages side by side,
if you know which band that you want to see
is coming up, you kind of have to go to
that stage and suffer through a few of the other
bands that come before it that you might not like.
But then like when those bands finish, the people who
came to seeing that band will shift over to the

(21:33):
other side of the stage, and then you just kind
of move your way up, you know, and the next thing,
you know, a couple hours later, you're right there at
the front. So that's that's always been my strategy.

Speaker 1 (21:41):

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Nick says on Twitter, Billy R sports in the R
stands for rude, not rich.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Oh you're getting crushed on Twitter.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
Man, Yeah, like this Twitter isn't real life.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
That's true, that is true, sensible in the real One
person says, I'm not listening. Billy's being rude to Heather.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
We'll be right back, all right, welcome back. It is
the KSR pre Show. It's Billy Retligion, Shannon the dude.
We're gonna get to the phones here in just a second.
Hopefully nobody sheds it here. We'll get through this.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
You're brutal, man like, let it go, let it go.
I've already got people going. Man, I'm not listening. I
take up take some time off from Billy for a
while after the way he treated.

Speaker 1 (22:59):
Hell, hopefully cry me a river, make it cry me
a river.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
Oh God, we're doing our job.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
Sorry, I heard her feelings. I really am.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
You know how I was bragging about the KSR pre
show going up plus four hundred percent in our last book.
Oh I think after the way you treat it, Heather,
we're gonna have to look at our next book at
minus four hundred.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Percent, tanking the ratings.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
You are your tanking like I'm a part of this too,
man like, this is this is my show too. Don't look,
don't punish me because Billy treats callers badly. Okay, that's
that's my plea to our listeners.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
We're sinking ship and somebody tagged me in a photo
of if the Titanic went down today yesterday and it
was everybody in the water with their phone out filming
that Titanic Titanic wreckings, that would be you been a
tough couple of weeks for your boy, uh, if I
do have to complain before we get to the phones,
maybe the SEC network should be the one getting the
dumping ratings. It is ridiculous that we did not see

(23:52):
the start of the Kentucky game last night until six
forty four left in the first half. A and M
Vandy the final minute thirty seconds a game. Action took
about half an hour. Shit, And what the hell was that?

Speaker 2 (24:04):
Well, it was a three hour game. And who told you?
Nobody likes to choke away a lead like Vandy does.
It's unbelievable how bad they are closing a game like
they are the apps. I think that they may be
the worst team in college basketball when it comes to
closing a game. Had a good lead and then like
with five seconds left, even they had a chance to

(24:26):
just catch the ball dribble out the time. Instead there
was a pass that was made that was thrown out
of bounds. And then somehow A and M even had
a chance there at the very end to come back
and make a three point shot with like or I
guess it had to be a tip in because there
was only point two seconds left. Then of course they
go to the monitor. They gotta check how much time's
left on the clock. Then they got to check, okay,
is this is a foul? It just it goes on

(24:47):
and on and no, no, no, no, on. And somehow, you know,
for a sport that we all are trying to make quicker,
somehow all these end of game calls and reviews makes
the game even longer. So now game that's normally two
hours went two hours and fifty minutes last night.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
Yeah, and we had about three video reviews in the
final fifteen seconds of game action. But I would argue
that these games shouldn't last two hours, and they normally don't.
Shouldn't ESPN realize that these games need to last a
little longer and time it out accordingly.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Yes, I mean, And if you have okay, let's say
that the game ends early, you have guys in the
studio who can fill time, Yes, that would be. I
would rather hear Peter Burns and whoever whatever cast of
characters they have in the studio talk for seven or
eight minutes and fill time, then to jump into the
Kentucky game, which is, by the way, almost at halftime
by the time they joined the game in progress. So

(25:40):
you're I'm with you on that, man, that's crazy. They
need to start building in more now. Last night was
extreme case, but I feel like more often than not,
when you have a second game, there's always run over time,
and you know you miss at least three or four
or five minutes.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
Of the game that you're even with the five minutes slide.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
And I don't want to go over to ESPN News,
and I don't want to pull up your stupid app.
I'm with you on that, man. They need to do better.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
Nine ten to nine forty four. I had to sit
through A and M Vandy before we can even watch
the Kentucky game to see a guy flopping into Amari
Williams and spraining his ankle. You know what, I guess
that's why you've got to get ESPN Plus at this
point eight five two two eight seven. Okay, let's hear him, Shannon,
who we got a first?

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Let's start with John Short.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
Hey, good morning, John.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
You're running great games? We had, Yes, you say great games.
You could count basketball and baseball.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
Baseball big win over Morehead yesterday.

Speaker 4 (26:30):
I tried John, that's right, two to eight, Like how.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
He says the losing score first, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:38):
And good when we had a come last night eighty two,
eighty three. It was a good win and it was
it was a Jim Dania boat games yesterday. What can
we chanced tonight?

Speaker 5 (26:48):
That?

Speaker 4 (26:48):
Huh?

Speaker 2 (26:49):
Well, I'm gonna say, what did you think about Otega?
Oh way, that was a heck of a game last night.

Speaker 4 (26:55):
That was a good That was a good thing that
he had last night. A good that's not a good
one as a good ur good er good, not good.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
It's so good you gotta put the R in there.

Speaker 4 (27:04):
Yeah, that's that's a that's Southern ways saying good.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
I'm with you. I'm with you, John.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
Yeah, and we will win. We change night by tam Begans.
We're gonna have a great game.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
Yeah, that's right, the women's team taking on Tennessee tonight
at Memorial Coliseum, John, big game.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
Yes, we're here. We're gonna win that game, and we're
gonna be South Carolina. Everyone sweet baseball and softball this weekend.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
Oh all right, who do we have coming up in
softball this weekend? John? I know you you know the
the top of your head, right, I.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
Haven't heard who's gonna play in softball. But we're gonna win.
We're gonna be house for three games, So now we
will win that game. So we're gonna win this weekend.
And I know when you talking about other teaks like
as first aside the basketball, because we're doing how's the
rofle team? How do's that rifle team doing this year?

Speaker 2 (27:54):
John, I gotta tell you. I keep up with basketball
and basketball season, so you know, men's and women's basketball,
and then baseball when baseball starts. I have not kept
up with rifle.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
I need you to keep us updated.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
Yeah, John, I'll tell you what. Why don't you call
in once a week? All right, we'll make it the
John Short Segment and you can tell us how the
rifle team is doing each week.

Speaker 4 (28:14):
Well, they don't get much. This is like the others
four seasons. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
We could get Tom Leach to call play by play
of the Rifle competition. I would listen to that.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
Maybe some pregame for that we'll get.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
We'll get Billy to come in and we'll do the
post game show.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Well, we'll take calls.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Yeah, everybody's all right.

Speaker 4 (28:36):
Good from great American, A great American.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
All right, thank you, he's out, Homie. There you go.
We're one for one. You treat it, John, nicely and uh.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
Yeah, I can thank you. Okay. Uh. The softball team
plays five teams this weekend tournament, including Evansville, Western Kentucky,
Tennessee Tech. So good luck to the softball.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
That's the thing about softball too, Like you can you
start one pitcher and she could pitch all five games.
It's something about you know, the I don't know, I
don't know what I'm talking about, but you know, like
when you throw underhand at science, then when you throw
underhanded you can pitch more games for some reason. I
guess because of the way the muscles work, or you.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
Know, it's a more much more natural. There we go.
I gotta go underhand than overhand. Yeah, and when you're
not twelve years old throwing a curveball having to get
Tommy John surgery at fifteen, and yes, you know, I
guess it is easier to go longer times in softball. Yeah,
let's keep it rolling. Dude's next.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
Scott, Hey, Scott, Hey.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
Scott, what's going on?

Speaker 4 (29:36):
Guys?

Speaker 2 (29:38):
You tell us how you guys do. We're doing good.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
Well, that's good. I've got my tears out of the way.
Billy Billy kind of chatted me this morning now, guys,
I called him just know wh I was going to
be on home, So I really careless. It's all good.
I got a question about the end of the game
last night. Yeah, so they went in looking for a
a technical file against Garrison. At what point was they're

(30:07):
looking at the technical foul and not the fact that
Owa had rebounded the ball and had somebody hanging on him.
I mean, if they were going to carry that foul over,
what would it not been a double foul at that point?

Speaker 1 (30:18):
You know, I'm not sure which foul would take precedent
in that situation. Maybe a technical foul over a common foul, Shannon,
but that that would be interesting to see because, like
you said, Scott, the Kentucky guy that had the ball
had a guy draped over him, all over him at
that point.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
And once the clock kitt zero at that point, you
can't call a foul when the game's over, right, If anything,
you know, if you're gonna well, you know, punish him,
you got to, like, you know, maybe suspend him for
a game or something. If it was crazy, you know,
nothing nothing too crazy happen.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
But if the Garrison thing happened in regulation, then Scott, Yeah,
I'm not sure which call they would have taken.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
There, Yeah, because I mean if the foul on Oway
was it was immedia. I mean as soon as he
got these hands on the ball, they were in his jersey.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
Yeah. Well, I was just surprised Brandon Garrison was there
to with the game winning block. But it was his
night last night, wasn't it.

Speaker 3 (31:07):
Yeah it was, man. I mean they're they're they're filling
out a you know, they're filling out a good a
good tournament team with some experience. With all these players
hurt and other people having to step up, they should
be deep.

Speaker 1 (31:16):
Now.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
Yeah, thanks for the call, Scott.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
We appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
I mean, yeah, if anything, this team is just resilient.
The fact that they've been able to go to Trent
Noah and Perry and be able to keep this team
afloat is I mean, I didn't think, you know, before
we had all these injuries, that Noah or Perry would
really see any significant playing time. If you remember, we
go back a couple of months ago, a color on
the pre show actually said, hey, do you think that

(31:40):
Travis Perry or Trent Noah will play any significant minutes
the rest of the season. My answer was no, probably not.
But then when you have injuries and you're forced to
play those guys, you know, I think you got to
give it up for Trent Noah, Travis Perry. You know,
they've they've struggled some, but they've been able to do
a good enough job to keep this team afloat.

Speaker 1 (31:59):
And not the best night for them last night, but
trying to know how to no look past at Travis
Berry in the corner. That was really sweet. And you know,
I need to eat some crow about Brandon Garrison. You know,
I think we've seen a big drop off when Amari
William goes out and Garrison comes in and he proved
us wrong last night and kept his cool for the
most part, for the most part. Uh, let's take another

(32:20):
call before we take a break, Shannon, who's up?

Speaker 2 (32:21):
Hey Nancy?

Speaker 1 (32:22):
Good morning, Hey, good morning Nancy.

Speaker 5 (32:23):
Hey, Okay, is it okay to call? I mean, you know,
I'm just a little nervous about calling. I don't call
it Nancy.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
Yeah, I'm kidding.

Speaker 5 (32:36):
I know.

Speaker 6 (32:36):
No.

Speaker 5 (32:36):
So I was listening to the after the show afterwards
last night, and I was kind of falling asleep, and
then I woke up and I heard Matt get Oliver
Billy about the Heather call. I was like, really, so
this morning I had to listen again?

Speaker 4 (32:47):
Go through it here?

Speaker 5 (32:49):
Yeah, Billy, come on, I mean it's fine. I wanted
just one question, though, I want to know what didn't
What did Marissa say? Does she you know? I know
she follows you and everything and listens probably, but what
did she say about the whole Heather thing?

Speaker 1 (33:01):
Yeah, she has no idea yet. She was asleep when
I came home, and she's still asleep right now. Okay,
we'll get her opinions soon.

Speaker 5 (33:08):
Well, yeah, all is good.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
All is good.

Speaker 5 (33:11):
I'll keep calling in. I don't call in as much
as other people, but anyway, it's.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
A great game.

Speaker 5 (33:16):
You know, almost a heart attack for a lot of people.
But we got through it and it was awesome. So
go Cats, and you're fine, Billy, and you too, Shannon.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
Well, don't drag me in. Thanks for the call. Names.
My name's Ben at nine in it. Don't drag me
into I'm not gonna be guilty by association. I wasn't
even there. I was asleep last night. I didn't listen
to the postgame show. I was asleep. I had to
get up at five o'clock this morning and get in here.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
So it's like, hands up, I didn't do anything, not me,
not involved. You better defend me on case are today.
I'll tell you that.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
I just want to hear, like what the conversation was
off the air.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
You know, it was very sweet. It was Hey, great
to hear from you again, Heather. This is gonna be
your third straight postgame show. I'm gonna put you on still.
I'm a nice guy. But we'll probably take a break
after this one tears. Oh well, eight five nine two
two two eight seven. We'll take a break. We're going
to regroup and we'll come back and finish this one
out here on the ks I apprecia, welcome back. We'll

(34:17):
get back to these loaded phone lines in just a second.
A couple of things though, you know, Shannon, we got
Pope cussing on camera last night as Kentucky beats Oklahoma.
Little bs from Pope after Butler picked up his last foul.
I can't blame Pope. It was a pretty close foul.
But I just didn't think we'd see that this year.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
Well, you from Pope. I don't know sometimes what to expect,
you know, we think that we see this really nice,
and some people even called soft coach, and then we
hear about him going behind the scenes and blooding up
his knuckles and destroying furniture. So I'm not really sure, like, uh,
what side's the real side of pope? You know, it's

(34:56):
like like a jeckal and Hyde.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Sometimes you're right, and I do hope you get your
million dollars from Matt Shannon after the Dolly Reba conversation. Yeah,
that's coming today, or do you think that that's in
the main.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
I'll never see that. That's okay. I would not take
it from him anyway. I don't want to. I don't
take money from friends. I don't do that. I mean,
unless you do like a I'll pay you a thousand
dollars if you walk fifty miles. So if I'm gonna
go out and walk fifty miles, I'm gonna collect, Okay.
But if it's a friendly bet between you and me
and you go, I'll bet you a hundred bucks. He
doesn't hit that shot, I'm not gonna go. All right, Billy,
give me the one hundred dollars. But I would rather

(35:29):
just have the you know, I guess the happiness of
knowing that I was right and that wasn't Dolly, that
was Reba McIntyre in the song no You in Oklahoma.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
No You in Oklahoma. I had not heard that.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
The pride of knowing that I was correct and Matt
was wrong is better than a million dollars.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
Well, yeah, owing people money is a quick way to
ruin friendship. So that's probably a great way. That's a
great thing.

Speaker 2 (35:51):
I could have. I could do an entire show on that. Yeah,
that's why I do not. I do not lend friends money.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
Yeah, I still need that hundred from you, dude. Let's
take our next call. Who's next?

Speaker 2 (36:01):
Adam, Hey, Adam, what's up?

Speaker 7 (36:04):
Some guys? I think y'all are missing a story other
than Billy from the postgame show last night. So and
Billy can vouch that there was a caller that was
talking about putting his eight year old to bed and
then you know, the eight year old gets back up
and he lets watch them in the game. Oh yeah,
And Matt says, you know, I he said, I was
in the same boat in ninety four. My parents put

(36:25):
me to bed and I missed the end of the
LSU come back, and I related because I was eight
years old in ninety four, and I missed the end
of the game too. Luckily my stepdad recorded it. I
got to watch it. But then I was thinking, I
was like, what, Matt, sixteen or seventeen and ninety four
parents are putting them to bed.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
That is a great point. Uh, that is a great point.
So like, is his parents putting them to bed at
like twenty two years old? Done to go to bed?

Speaker 3 (36:52):
Matt?

Speaker 1 (36:54):
Did you have a bedtime at sixteen?

Speaker 2 (36:56):
No?

Speaker 1 (36:57):
Yeah, sixteen I was kind of doing my own starting
to do my own thing that point.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
No, I didn't have like a I don't think. I
don't think I did. I think my bedtimes kind of
ended it. Like you know once you get into high.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
School, Yeah, yeah, you start staying up later.

Speaker 5 (37:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (37:09):
Now I did appreciate the story because Larry's told Matt
the next morning, like he was like, oh, yeah, Kentucky won,
by the way, and Matt's like, what I mean they
were down thirty Yeah, But I mean, I don't know
if that math checks out, that would be a weird
rinkle that story.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
Four I was twelve, he's what five years four years
older than me? Five years older than me or four
I don't know. Well, that means he's either sixteen or
seventeen years old.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
At there you go to bed. Wow, no nonsense type
of household. You gotta get to bed. You can't finish
the Kentucky game. You're only seventeen.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
Next year you'll be able to be eligible for being
drafted in the army. But make sure you go to
bed on time.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
These damn light starts. I have to go to sleep,
all right.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
That is hilarious.

Speaker 3 (37:56):
So it just.

Speaker 8 (37:58):
Hey, thank you, Jim, I'll make a quick, uh fascinating
game between the X and between Coast Poser and Mark Pope.
I'm glad our Coast came out on top. And secondly,
I'm glad Coast sank or Commissioner stanky to get hit
with a beer can. That would not have been good.
If the head man would have got hit.

Speaker 4 (38:20):
What is his name?

Speaker 2 (38:21):
Thank you?

Speaker 1 (38:21):
Thank you?

Speaker 8 (38:22):
Oh my bad, I'm sorry. And uh, I'm glad you
get hit with a beer can. That would not have
been good. So it was just a great night as
far as the X and o's and the commissioner not
getting hit with a beer can, everything turned out really good.
Y'all have great days.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
Thanks to the speaking of Ex's notes, how about that
little curl that they set up for way underneath the
basket that just.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
Me Yeah, the end of the game, before the last score, Yeah,
drew it up. Looked good. I saw the security guards
were starting to line the student section near the end
of the game, Shannon, and unecessarily they just had they
just stayed where they were at. Uh, we got time for
one war.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Let's go to trusting. Hey, Tristan, Hey, Tristan, trusting, No trusted,
No trusting. All right, let's move on. Let's go to Dan. Hey, Dan,
what's up?

Speaker 6 (39:14):
Hey guys? Uh, great game last night. I'll tell you
what I'm just I'm so proud of this team, and
you know, saying out last time. I called in a
couple of weeks ago and told you that I want
to name this team, and you said it was the
worst name you ever heard.

Speaker 1 (39:31):
What was the name again?

Speaker 6 (39:32):
What about the un what about the unpredictables?

Speaker 2 (39:35):
Unpredictables? I like that everybody just wants to give the
team a nickname. I don't know our fan base likes nicknames.
What was the other that you said that you said
that I said was the worst one?

Speaker 1 (39:45):
That's it?

Speaker 2 (39:46):
Yeah, Streme Music stream. Yeah. And by the way, yeah
that was that was That was Dean, right, Joe Deane
was not Yeah, okay, it wasn't.

Speaker 6 (39:57):
But guys, great show, guys. I love listen to you.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
Appreciate it, man, yeah, Man, shout out to Alex.

Speaker 8 (40:04):
He listens to you all for every day.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
All right, all.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
Right, shout out day Yep, thanks, Dan, appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (40:13):
I mean, his second name was as bad as the
first one.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
The unpredictables.

Speaker 1 (40:17):
Is he gonna cry about it? All right?

Speaker 2 (40:19):
Let's go, My god, you just wrap this up. You
just double down, triple down, quadruple down. Do you want
to get one more call in since we today, Mike,
Good morning, Mike, Yes, you.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
Got Butler Robinson back by.

Speaker 2 (40:37):
What's the scuttle bit.

Speaker 6 (40:39):
On craise shift?

Speaker 2 (40:42):
You know, last I heard there's a good chance that
he was gonna take a medical red shirt. I think
that's probably still the most likely scenario. But beyond that,
that's all I've really heard.

Speaker 1 (40:53):
I've heard if he plays one more game, he cannot
get a medical red shirt. So I think there's a
very good chance we don't see Kirkriesa again this year.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
All right, Mike, we appreciate, thank you for the call.

Speaker 1 (41:04):
Which is unfortunate. Man. That guy is a ball of
energy and you know, really gave this team a dimension
that we haven't seen in a long time.

Speaker 2 (41:12):

out there running the offense, well, I guess he wasn't
running the offense. He was out there with Butler.

Speaker 1 (41:26):
Oh he was out there. It's still defending on a
broken foot, right, And I give him a lot of
credit for that, right.

Speaker 2 (41:31):
Yeah, that's right. I'll give you a lot of credit.
