Speaker 2 (00:35):
That's right, Yeah, a little of the excitement here.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
We're broadcasting live at High Bramble Park at one two
three High Bramble Lane in Versailles, Kentucky. Mario Maitland the
video extraordinary social media man KSR is with me. Shannon's
got so many vacation days. We've had to go to
the bullpen this week. What's up, Mario?

Speaker 2 (00:53):
What's up? Man? I'm excited to be on man. Uh,
don't hype me up, please, don't you know I'm a
I'm a humble dude. I don't I don't want it to
make any credit.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Oh come on, we'll get the Bulls intro music for you, Mario.
You deserve it. But we're here at High Bramble Park,
like where we said with a horse and cart racing
will be taking place tomorrow with the Woodford County Fair
this Saturday. It's free to get in. Races start at
twelve thirty pm. I'm gonna be honest with you, Mario.
I've never seen a horse and buggy race, horse and

(01:22):
cart race. I want to get the verbiage right here.
So but we think we're gonna get Ryan Lemon in
one of these carts.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
I was gonna say, Rachel told this about that last week.
She really wants to see Ryan Lemon in the little
horse buggy. I definitely gotta see it. I'll have my
camera out ready to go. Good good.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
We got this great track right next to us. We're
under a tent. Opah's Ice House is here serving up
some food.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Oh yeah, I smell something was on the grill.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Amsten is providing free coffee and baked goods to all
the guests here. So we're having a great time and
we will hand it off to Matt and Ryan for
KSR a little later today and we're out the sun
under a shade.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
So I like that part of it too.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Who I was sweating a little bit last week. I
had assured partners, but had a great time there.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Independence Day weekend, man, we got uh you know, we
are taking tomorrow and Friday off, will be running best
of the next couple of days.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
You know what you got planned, Mario. You're gonna be
lighting off some fireworks. You're gonna be doing anything special.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
I stay away from fireworks. Oh that's not your thing. No, no, no, no,
I'll go watch them, but I'm not lighting them up.
I'm definitely not likeing. I've seen too many videos online
where people try to light them up and accidents happened
with you know, their fingers up. Back it up, Terry,
back it up. Yeah, yep, yeah. But yeah, my plans,
I'm planning to go to Chicago, a great city of Chicago,
spend spend a little time up there and have a
good time with my lady and and you know, you know,

(02:39):
just enjoy it. You know, I've never bought a Chicago either.
Gotta go to the Bean, my first time was with
Matt back last year we went. I we kind of split,
you know. I went and do my own thing and
he went to do his own thing. I went to
the Bean. You know, I'm a big on tourists and
just you know, seeing you know, tourist attractions and stuff
like that. So you know, I'm probably gonna return, go

(02:59):
to some museums and then go to the Bean again
and see what else we can do. Nice. Nice.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
I told Matt to go see the Bean when he
was with you, and he decided not to go. You
had to make that trip.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Solo, didn't you. Yeah, that's fine, that's fine. I wanted
to see myself, so I had to do it.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
It's estimated a record amount seventy two million people are
going to be traveling over the next couple of days.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
For fourth of July.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
It's almost like Memorial Day weekend, Mario. You just stay
off the roads if you can, because everybody and their
mother is gonna be trying.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
To get to every iago to the beach.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Shannon's already there in Panama City, but it's a big
travel day coming up for us.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Shannon is living his best life right now. I could
I could just vision him right now on the beach.
But isn't that like the worst part.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Of Florida that he has a beach house far a city, right, Yeah,
Like come on, like we could.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Get a little bit a nicer area. He could do
a little bit better with that.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
So yeah, So be careful with your fireworks this week.
You don't want to be Jason Pierre Paul and blow
off your fingers. Be very careful with this. Also, be
mindful of the people around you. A lot of veterans
have a tough time with Fourth of July and the
fireworks that go off.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Dogs too, if you're a dog owner, that's a great
We got dog owners out here and know some of
them with dog owners. Gotta be careful with the fireworks. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
So I think that there is a time and place
for fireworks, especially the night of Fourth of July. I
even think the weekend is a fine time to be
able to light off fireworks.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Monday comes around, Mario, More fireworks done.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Okay, we need as a society, we need to agree
that fireworks that can cause PTSD episodes and a lot
of our community members should be used sparingly.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
But have a good time.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Get some of those poppers that pop at people's feet
and throw it at them.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
I like to do it. Well, let me ask you is,
have you heard any fireworks yet as of yet? You're able.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Yeah, last night they started going off. Yeah, I like that, Mario.
I mean, I get.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
People may need to celebrate on different days, but like
I said, just be mindful of the people around you now.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Because it's Independence Day weekend.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
The most important thing that happens on Independence Day weekend
besides America's birthday is Mario fireworks.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Nope. The hot dog eating contest go on.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Yeah, they got dog getting contests and Joe he chested
out his back after he was banned last year for
his sponsorship with Impossible Foods.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
He is back.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
The American hero is ready to go.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Mario. So he's coming back, and oh man, I gotta
see that. That's that's gonna be insane. Man, He's he's
the living goat. He's the living goat at that just
eating hot dogs.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
The Nathan's hot dog. Oh yeah, have you ever had
a Nathan's Coney?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Yes, I have when I was Yeah, yeah, when I
was a little bit smaller. Do you think you could
eat eighty one of those in ten minutes. No, absolutely not.
I'm not a big eater, so I couldn't do it,
and I don't really like hot hot dogs is not
something I go crazy about. A hot dog guy, I'll
eat it, you know, if i'm you know, at a
ballpark or whatever the case may be. But I'm not
crazy about eating hot dogs. Look, I like hot dogs

(05:41):
as much as the next guy. But when they're dipping
the buns into the warm water while they're competing, it
makes me gag. Like I have to watch the event,
but I will get one or two gags. And when
they're dipping the buns in the water, yeah, I can't
do that. That's just disgusting. You know. I guess it
makes it easier to you know, flow down, but you know,
not my thing.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
There's a men's and a women's division that will be
on the fourth of July. Well, it could be good
to be having Joey chest Not back, who is a Kentuckian.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
If you did not know that, I did not where
is he from? Uh?

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Not sure? I wish, I wish I did my show, bro.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
I just know that he was a Kentucky. Uh, but
it would be good to have him back.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
You know, they do a lot of different contests throughout
the world of Major League eating.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Mario.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
You know, you could see him eat trip cocktails or
baked potatoes. Yeah, uh, there's you know, there's a contest
for everything out there.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Now, let me ask you this, if we did a
eating contest, whether it's a hot dog eating contest or
whatever the case may be. Yeah, who out the KSR
crews winning it? Who do you think.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
For a hot dog contest?

Speaker 2 (06:37):
We could do hot dog? Who would you? Who's your pick?
You got your money on. I'm probably gonna Ryne. You know.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Initially I go to Ryan, you know, because you know,
we say in a lot of situations he's got the
the the old man's strength, you know, that dad's strength.
But I also think he's got that dad belly. You know,
I think he could put down some dogs. There's no
doubt about it. Can't forget about Drew either. He can eat.
Drew is a competitor, I mean, no matter what, he's
to compete and he is gonna give it his all.
You know, Shannon would take it as an opportunity to

(07:04):
eat as slow as possible, right, I'm sure he would
eat just one hot dog. Yeah, he'd he'd save it,
he'd make the whole thing about him. Uh, Mario, me
and you are the skinny ones of the bunch. We're
probably not winning the contest. But to be fair, a
lot of those major league eaters are skinny.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
That is true. We can take a lot more in.
But like I said, I'm not I'm not a big
fan of the hot dogs in general. So maybe you
would do a lot better than me.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
KSR hot dog again, that'll be good. See that's where
Mario says, I'm gonna be behind the camera. Okay, I'm
not competing, right, I will just do the filming. But Mario,
you've been a great addition to KSR. I guess over
the last year plus, right, I mean you started when
the day Cow left.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Yeah, April first week was I remember that Monday, that
Sunday night. I was getting ready for work, you know,
you know, get my things together, and then the news
came out, you know, Cow's leaving, and and I was
just thinking like perfect, this is perfect, right, this is
how you started content? Yeah, this is great contents exactly
how you started off.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
We have some content we want to talk about to
including the TVT team getting a new addition and red
Pan to getting hurt at an NBA game the other night,
or not an NBA game, but an event yesterday. But Mario,
this week, we've been getting to know the Louisville building
a little bit. We had Rachel Elliott on Terry Miners.
We've been giving some backstory. So just in this first segment,
I wanted to hear a little bit about you, Mario.

(08:19):
Have you enjoyed this year?

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Plus?

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Is it a little crazy that we do these live
shows every Friday and all these people show.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
I love the live shows, man, I think it's the
coolest thing about it. It's just meeting people, seeing people
from all over come come at come in one place
just to watch you guys. That's the biggest thing for me.
I love the live shows. You get to travel and
see and meet people and overall. Man, I know, I'm
in a situation that a lot of people would like
to have. So I'm very thankful to be in this opportunity.

(08:47):
And you know, I'm I'm, I'm I'm I'm really excited
for the future. And you know, I'm gonna put my
head down and keep working. That's what it's about for me. Well,
we're really proud of you and the work that you've
been showing.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
I think you've been making us look good, which is
hard to do a lot of times if we're only
dressed up in hoodies in shorts. Sometimes you've been on
the KSR road trips, I really haven't.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Yeah, we need to get you on those road trips,
my man. I miss you a lot on those road trips.
I'm the only one that's really like the young one. Yeah.
And you know, I'm not gonna say it gets stale
being around older folks, but I get it helps when
you you know, Matt and Ryan are gonna come out
and beat you with a bat or something. Here.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
I get it's tough to relate to those old guys
on the trip. I completely understand. I did like that.
You were there for the postgame show where the guy
was playing cornhole. Do you remember that one?

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Oh? Yeah, what was his name? Was that? Milwaukee? It
was Milwaukee, Yeah, it was Milwaukee, And I can't. I
cannot remember his name. I don't know why, but man,
I was I just walked into that one. I can't.
I was kind of walking from the arena and this
guy was just playing corn hole with Matt and the crew.
So you know, the memories you get on these road
trips are crazy.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
And that's live radio, right, you never know what's gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Matt's really good at putting him himself in situations where
they things are happening around him.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Yeah, creates better content. You know what's next for you?

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Mario?

Speaker 1 (10:05):
I mean obviously with KSR coming up, I mean, is
there content longer content that you want to do?

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Is it something you have a goal in mind? Yeah,
I would just want to maximize my potential and and
that made mean, uh, you know many different things that
made me like pushing my podcasts that I have on
the side more and and I think a lot of
it just comes from being more creative and trying to
do something that no one is really doing in the
in the state of Kentucky. So that's the biggest thing

(10:32):
for me, man. I just want to you know, continue
to grow and and you know, try new stuff in
the content world, because I think that's the content that
really blows up and really gets the most engagement is
the content that hasn't been done before. So that's kind
of where my mindset is at. It's just really staying
focused and just trying to do something that no one
has done before, and that that takes time. You definitely

(10:52):
got to experiment with different stuff and and you know
that's just a part of the general process.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
Building an audience on different audience you TikTok Facebook, Twitter.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
I mean this guy can't turn his phone off.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
I mean feel bad for him sometimes, Like, how do
you ever disconnect when your job is the weekend?

Speaker 2 (11:09):
The weekends for now, the weekends usually when I'm in season,
it's like Monday through Sunday, like I can't you know,
it's just right endless content. But this time of the year,
it's kind of like the weekends are my slow time.
I get to just like put my phone down and
relax a little bit.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Well, get as much hard work in as possible over
the next couple of years until that college basketball video
game comes out, Mario. Then we'll let you go for
a couple of weeks because you know that you're gonna
be locked in your room.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
I'm gonna be on that you won't see me. You
won't see me, man, when that game comes out.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Yeah, well, I I saw an article that the Kentucky
guys were all reacting to that game going to be
coming out and they're like, man that we would have
a team that you would ban when you're playing your buddies. Right,
there was always a couple of teams if they were
too good, right, And it sounds like the guys this
year are very confident in their potential ef I've nine
to two eight oh two two eight seven Texas at
five o two two six five six six five six.

(12:01):
We're in Woodford County today at High Bramble Park having
a good time.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Are we gonna get you in a cart or a
little buggy here? No? No, no, no, no, no no.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
You're not riding around? No no, A little disappointing.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
They have little like tandem ones so you can ride
with somebody.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
No, no, no, Ryan.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
In a professional We don't want to you know, we
don't want to have Ryan steering the horse, right, Okay,
I would I would like to see that. Well, if
you've seen the golf cart videos, maybe you would. Uh,
we're gonna take a break. We've got some news to
get to and much more on the way and the
show before the show.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
It is the KSR pre Show. Welcome Back.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
It is the KOSR pre Show live on Independence Day
week in Woodford County at High Bramble Park, and nothing
says summer like long days, clutch plays and firing off
a few bets on the game, all with DraftKings Sportsbook.
Never bet on baseball before Mario.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
It's easy.

Speaker 1 (12:51):

see dk MG dot co. Slash our audio Mario, your
guy Shay Gildes Alexander got paid and he deserved it.

(13:33):
I mean scoring title, MVP NBA Finals MVP NBA Finals champion.
Shay got paid four years, two hundred and eighty five
million SuperMac goodness. That means Shay will make seventy one
million dollars a year on average, and depending on the
NBA season, that is close to a million dollars a
game that Shay Guilders Alexander will make after this, Countra.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
You're telling me this guy he doesn't he had to play.
He can be hurt on the bench, and he's gonna
make one million dollars And is unbelievable, Mario. Now, inflation
is a real thing. But Michael Jordan made a career
earning of only ninety four million dollars and Shay just
signed a four year two hundred and eighty five million dollars.
Is that not? That is crazy? He does not check

(14:16):
his bank account at all.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
Oh, you don't check the bank account after that, Mario.
You just assume you have it after every day after that.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Right, he's set. Generations is grand kids are set. They're
all set.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
So look, he's a he's an NBA superstar. He's already
got the money. But I bet he's looking for the
bank account to hit, you know what I mean? The
direct deposit. Yeah, I think he's waiting for it.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Yeah. Man, well you got to tip your hat off
to the guy. Man, he deserves it. MVP Western Conference Finals,
MVP NBA Finals, MVP. I mean, the guy. He's arguably
the best player in the league right.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
Now, which is amazing to think about what he was
doing here at Kentucky backing up Quade Green. Now he
could be Kentucky's best player in the NBA, you know it,
maybe eventually of all time. Speaking of the NBA, Julius
Randall signed a three or one hundred million dollar deal.
Congratulations to him with the Timberwolves, but also Jackson Robinson.
We were wondering, why hasn't he signed with an NBA
team yet. Finally, yesterday, the Weeveland Cavaliers signed him to

(15:10):
uh what a non guaranteed contract.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
So, I mean, I was a little surprised, Mario, we
were surprised.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
I felt I felt sad for him, like, you know,
going into the draft, you know, he didn't get he
didn't get drafted because last year, you remember, he was
really contemplating, you know, coming back to Kentucky. Yeah, he
had a chance to make it to the NBA and
you know, he came back, had a decent season. You know,
he had a lot of injuries during his season. But
you know, now you see him kind of slipping the
draft boards, does goes undrafted, and now you know he's

(15:37):
he at least he's getting opportunity. Cleveland Cavaliers probably can
make the team. We'll see what he does in summer
league and and and then we'll go from there. Caves
are good. I mean, they are our team in the East.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
And let me rephrase, I guess I should say I
was surprised he hadn't been picked up yet, because I mean,
that's a that I think has a lot of talent,
a lot of potentially if he did not get injured,
you gotta think that's somebody that would have would have
gotten drafted.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
I think that is in Then that's the thing, you know,
that's where these guys when they want to come back,
they they they're a little bit hesitant to come back
for that next year because you know, anything can happen.
You can get hurt, you can have a season you
cannot produce as well as the previous season. Like there's
a lot of things that you got to consider. And man,
I hope for the best for Jackson Robinson.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Now I have I have an idea for Yet, this
does not apply to Jackson Robinson. I believe he had
exhausted his eligibility. But Mario, what's the shame or what's
the damage? If a player goes undrafted in the draft,
they could return to college.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
So you want them to return to college? Yeah, yeah,
that's a.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
So this again does not apply to Jackson Robinson, I believe.
But let's say a du Theiro did not get drafted.
He could ultimately return to the team that he was
on or to the transfer portal. Do you or do
you need to make a decision if you're going or not.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
I don't see anything wrong with it, you know, I
think it plays in the favor of the player, of course. Yeah,
you know, just just to test the waters and then
if you go in draft and you can come back. Yeah,
you know, I'm not sure why they haven't changed that.
Maybe they will, but like I'm all for it.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Sorry to interrupt you. There's the horse right there in
the buggy, Mario.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
Oh, there it is, I've seen it.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
There it is, man that it looks like they got
room in there is their leg like you can very spacious.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
I don't see. I wonder how fast those horses go.
And I mean, if you've got like looks, it looks
fun too.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
Yeah, I mean it looks a little bit more manageable
than actually getting on the horse. Now, in our next time,
we're going to talk to Alex Riddle, he's one of
the owners here. He's going to talk to us about
maybe some of the specifics concluding tomorrow, the free event
that you can attend, and maybe some of the history
of this horse and kart racing Mario, because it is
a little bizarre if you haven't been out here before.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
Yeah, this is this space is fairly new, right, yep, yep,
fairly new. They just open it up right now.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
But so you're you're on board with me, they can
come back if they have any eligibility left you.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
I agree, I agree. I think it helps the player.
I mean, I don't I don't know what the other
on the other side of what that may look like
for the NBA, But you know, why not, you know,
why not be able to test yourself in the NBA
and if you if the results don't show, you can
come back, just come back to school.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
Okay, here's nothing wrong with that. Okay, I like it.
Now here's another question for you, maybe a fact or
crap for you, Mario, Okay, your your BS detector needs
to be on here. Jalen Lowe, the new starting point
guard for Kentucky, spoke to the media this week and
he said Trent Noah is the best shooter he has
ever seen.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Yeah, I don't know, ye, Trent, who knows he Trent
could have gotten better as a shooter. Like he's just
this guy who's been in the gym all summer, So
we don't know. We're not seeing it up close, you know,
you know, up close and personal every day. And you know,
if you if you actually read his comments, he said,
ever since, he's the best shooter ever since, you know,

(18:39):
playing at pitt where he played with Blake Kenson. Who
Blake Kenson you if you really, if you know your
ball stuff, Blake Kenson is a great shooter as well.
So like I don't, I don't. I'm not gonna say,
you know, he's wrong or anything like that. He's seeing
it up close every day, you know, with Trent Noah
working out with Trent Noah. If if that's what he believes,
that's what he believes that's great news. Though if you're
a Kentucky fan to hear that.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
Well, I'm glad you brought up Henson guy, because I
was gonna say. My thoughts on this is that Pitt
must be really bad.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
No Blakenson's I was gonna say, Blake and tit must
be awful.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
He's a good player, Trent no is the greatest shooter
that he has ever seen.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
But you know, I also see that maybe he's just
gassing up his boys. You know, maybe you wouldn't go out.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
Out there and say the opposite, right, you don't go
out there and say Trent's the worst shooter I've ever seen.
He's not gonna get on the court. So, you know,
as we see coaches give a little coach seak, maybe
we saw Jalen Lowe already acting like a coach.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
There you go, being a leader, that's what you call that. Yeah,
he's he has good leadership skills already. Well, look, I'm
not gonna throw you underneath the bus, Mario.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
So it neither would Jalen Lowe of a guy like
Trent Nolla.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Neither will well I don't get it.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
Well, well, Jaalen wouldn't throw Trent under the bus and
say that he's a bad shooter. That's what I mean
by that, man, And I wouldn't say that you were
bad at anything.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
I appreciate that. So maybe some people missed this.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
July first was just the other day and that was
the beginning of revenue sharing in college sports. So now
schools can pay athletes directly instead of this middle man,
you know, boogieyman will give you the money for nil
dollars the school had nothing to do with it. Twenty
over twenty million dollars can be allocated to players of universities.

(20:10):
But Mario, because this is taking place, Kentucky is changing
some of the things that they're doing with tickets.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
Have you seen this new?

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Okay, So I've got two big things that Kentucky Athletics
has changing is due to the revenue sharing that has
just started on July first. The first one is children
are required to have a ticket now. So before children
could sit on your lap, but they could pay charge
a ten dollars fee for children to sit on the
laps of parents. Now every person must have a full ticket.

(20:42):
If they're under two years old, they could sit on
your lap. Besides that, they need a ticket. Wow, you
like that, Billy are sports who hates children?

Speaker 2 (20:51):
Likes it?

Speaker 1 (20:52):
But also I realize that sometimes you know, this means
a lot more to the kids than it does the adults.
Right there's it's always somebody's first game and the kid
lining up for autographs for Oscar Sibwe or Kobe Brea.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
There is something special to it.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
But Kentucky needs to make that money if you're gonna
be paying players business. They need everybody in those seats
and they need that extra money. The second thing that
Kentucky Athletics is doing is phasing out discounts for employees
and faculty. So if you work with the university, if
you have a student ID, I believe this affects that
as well, you don't get a discount. I'm the student ID.

(21:28):
I'm not sure employee discounts for Kentucky football and men's
basketball season will no longer exist, so the student ID
thing may not be that, but the eligible employees. Some
eligible employees will receive a twenty percent discount, most will not.
So Mario, you now work at the university, or if
you did, you can't get a discount on football and
basketball ticket.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
I guess the good comes with bad too, right. You
know that's just just kind of how everything is structured.
You know, you want to pay your players, and now
you know this is the downside of it. So I
mean it's from the fans perspective and those employees. But
like I said, you if you want to have these players,
you know, and you want to be able to pay
him and get them into Kentucky Jersey, you know this, this,

(22:09):
this is what has They gotta make money. This, They
gotta find some money to pay these guys. What has
to happen. But the kids gotta have a ticket. Yeah,
all right, We're gonna take a break.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
It's Mario Maitland and Billy Rutledge here on the KSR
pre Show and we will be right back.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
All right, Welcome back.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
It is the KSR pre Show live on a Wednesday.
It's our final live show before a little Independence Day weekend.
We are live at High Bramble Park at one two
three High Bramble Lane in ver Sales. It's brand new
so that actually doesn't come up on Apple Map. So
it's right off of Pain's Mill Road. If you're looking
to join us this morning and right now, I have

(22:44):
one of the owners here at hy Bramble Park.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
Alex Riddle is joining us on the show. What's up, Alex?

Speaker 2 (22:49):
How are you?

Speaker 4 (22:49):
We're pumped you guys are here, man, this is gonna
be so fun.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
Well, this is awesome and I and I was telling
you during the break that I've never seen a horse
and buggy race live. The only time I've seen it
is I was at Churchill Down. I maybe saw it
on a TV screen when they're racing in Australia or somewhere.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
So this is cool that you're bringing it here in Kentucky.

Speaker 4 (23:07):
Yeah, no, thank you. It's it's gonna be a lot
of fun.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
Man.

Speaker 4 (23:09):
We I grew up in the horse business and I'd
never been to a harness race either until I went
to present a trophy up in Ohio. And I told
you the story. The reason I love this fair racing
and we want to promote Saturday is I got there
in a suit and tie expecting, you know, present a trophy.
You're sitting in VP and I got out. They parked
me next to the funnel cake stand and I'm like,
no, no VIP. They're like, yeah, this is oh. I changed

(23:30):
into shorts and a T shirt real quick. And it's
the most fun. It's so approachable. Anybody can come out
and have a good time, and you know, you're drinking
beer and eating fried food and playing kids games and
it's just a blast.

Speaker 3 (23:40):
More could you want?

Speaker 2 (23:41):
I mean?

Speaker 3 (23:41):
And VIP does sound like parking near the funnel cakes too?

Speaker 2 (23:43):
I mean, I could. I could enjoy a little funnel cake.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
So tell me a little about the track that you
got here. We got a horse coming by and a buggy.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
We're gonna get Bryan Lemon in one of these things.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
Oh yeah, yeah. So one of the big things we
want to do out here is promote tourism and promote
new ownership in the standard bread industry. And so we
bought some of these double carts that have tandem seats,
so we're going to take people out with professional drivers
when we get to when we get to stabilization, so
people can really experience what it's like to see behind
a horse and drive it. But yeah, this will be
you know, the meat and potatoes of this. We'll be

(24:13):
training six hundred and forty horses out here.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
Yeah, yeah, So this will be the premier training center
in the country and a lot of these horses are
moving back down from the Northeast because the program in
Kentucky is so strong. So we partnered with Dan Kuhne,
who's built all the nicest racetracks in the country, to
build this track and it's you know, equit safety is
at the foremost we want to do, but we also
want it to be really fast. So so the horses

(24:37):
out here loving that. We've got a couple of trainers
out here right now that have been testing it out
for us for Saturday, and Saturday we'll kick the thing off. Man,
it'll be fun.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
I was telling Alex Mario that my sister loves horses,
so this made a perfect thing to hurt her. It
seems really approachable, and it seems like that with the
tandem thing, it's something that if somebody wants to get.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
Close to a horse, you guys have that opportunity.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
Yeah, absolutely, man. I think my dad used to say,
my dad was in the horse business too. My dad,
you say, everybody should touch a horse and we won't
have any of these problems of horses going away. So
that's that's kind of what we embody here. You know,
day to day we got to train the best horses
in the world. But but My passion is really getting
people close to them, getting them to touch them.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
So yeah, really anything you want to ask them?

Speaker 2 (25:15):
Yeah, man, the one question I really want to ask
you man, when people come here and they have a
great time because they're of course they're a great time,
and when they leave, what do you want the people
to take away? Question?

Speaker 4 (25:26):
Man, that's a good question. You should have prepped me
for that one, Mario, it's a hard hitter. I feel
like I'm on Miss America.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
You're juggling talent will be.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
Next, right.

Speaker 4 (25:36):
Honestly, a passion like something exciting people being excited about
something new is sweet. You know, we're not We're not
really selling anything here. It's free to admission. We want
people to be out here. I want people to go
home and start looking up where they can buy one
of these horses or where they can see them race again.
And promote the Red Mile, promote the fair racing. You know,
we we have three new tracks in the state of
Kentucky that are doing that are doing this and promote

(25:58):
this sport, grow it and it's going to help all
of us. You know, Kentucky's this is what Kentucky is. Yeah,
it doesn't get much more Kentucky than this.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Yeah, I mean we're in a big field right now.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
I could see this being a hop in place, man, Like,
this is absolutely a great spot.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
Now, you guys have a free event going on tomorrow, right.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
Free events on Saturday, Saturday.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
I feel like it's Friday because we're out on the remotes.
I keep saying that. But Saturday there's a three event, right, yeah,
So Saturday free event. The gates will open at twelve thirty.
There'll be horses out warming up at twelve thirty. First
race will go off at two pm, and we're going
to pack in twelve races between two and six thirty seven,
So it'll be action packed.

Speaker 4 (26:32):
It's a little bit faster pace than at the third
bed tracks and inflatables for kids, long games. Opah's Ice House,
who's set up over here. They're going to set up
a bit. I mean, this is their ten this is
their temporary restaurant for that event. So they'll be slinging
the best barbecue in the state. No offense to some.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
Of your sponsors, no, but.

Speaker 4 (26:49):
They'll be slinging the best barbecue in the state. And
we'll have beer and wine and it'll just be it'll
be a good time.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
So let me ask you how how many horses and
buggies are going to be racing at one time?

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Like, how many do you have racin sy With this track.

Speaker 4 (27:01):
We can go eight wide? Eight we have eight horses
racing at a time. Wow, we'll have I think that
day we'll have one hundred and fifty nine total horses race.
That's what our entries are h And again, yeah, eight wide,
so that'll be the peak. We have some six horse races,
we have one or two five horse races, but mostly
you know seven eight.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
Well, I'm excited to dive in and experience my first
horse and buggy race. I mean, it seems like the
people are passionate that are involved with it, so I'm
excited to learn more about it.

Speaker 4 (27:26):
Yeah, we love it. I know you keep saying Ryan's
gonna get in the car. We're going to get you
in one too.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
Well, I don't know about that. I mean, we have
I do like that you have a professional drive. It's
almost like NASCAR, you know, sometimes they'll bring you around
the track and just maybe put you in the car.
It seems like that's the same opportunity. And there's Ryan
right there get a good scope of the land.

Speaker 4 (27:43):
We'll let Mario drive you.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Yeah, I can try it. Mario ain't getting on that horse.
Let me tell you.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
Alex Riddle, one of the owners here at the High
Bramble Park, Alex, thank you for joining us. Thank you, yeah,
thank you for having us today. Come out this Saturday
for the Woodford County Fair. Like he Alex said, free
ad mission. There's gonna be some stuff set up and
it's gonna kick off this great event here at High
Bramble Park. We'll take an early break here. We'll be
right back here on the ksrpre Show. All right, welcome back.

(28:11):
It's our final segment here on the show before the show,
the KSR Pre Show. Got a good little crowd coming
out here to High Bramble Park. We'll hand it off
to Matt and Ryan here at ten am on the
Kentucky Office of Highway Safety KSR Safe Summer Driving Tour,
where I'm told that it's not called a buggy, it's
called a sulky. Sulky Mario, I guess it's a sulky

(28:31):
is what they're riding behind it. I've never heard that
word either, But you know what we're gonna trust the
people that know more about it than us. If you
want to learn more, you can visit High Bramblepark dot
com for more information. Also, big thank you to Medford
Contracting in the Aldenburg Hotel for being sponsors for today's event.
A five nine two two eight seven. We've got a
special caller on the line that I want to get

(28:52):
to right now. Peanut is on the line. Peanut, how
are you.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Some good?

Speaker 5 (28:58):
A lot better?

Speaker 3 (29:00):
That's great to hear man, I've been worried about you.

Speaker 5 (29:04):
Yeah, I actually just got great news like ten minutes ago.
They're going to remove my chest too, and all my
stables out of my chest today and I get to
go home probably and within the four.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
Or five days, God bless And I've had my Mike
garage has been transformed into a rehab center and I'll.

Speaker 5 (29:28):
Be able to do that at home. And I appreciate
all the out port from BBN, and I've gotten my
lot so much support over to Facebook, and I'm sure
my mail office is full, and I just want to
appreciate you for putting that outside of my day and
every everybody that means a lot to you.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
Yeah, we love you, Peanut.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
We're thinking about you and your family and and please
keep us updated with your recovery.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
Man.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
We'll be with you every step the way, and thank
you for calling in and keeping us up.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
Data.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
We love to hear that things are getting better and
you're gonna be coming home soon.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
Man.

Speaker 5 (30:06):
Yeah, it was the greatest news ever a half hours
fifteen minutes ago. So I was just start calling now.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
Well, Peanut, we are thinking about you. There's terrible things
that happen every day in life, and you never know
when when you're.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Life or last, and life is short. You gotta value it, man,
And I'm Peanut. I'm so glad to hear you doing
a little bit better now. Man.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
He pray, BBN's praying for you. Yeah, we're praying for you.
And like I said, keep us updated, Peanut.

Speaker 4 (30:32):
Okay, guys, you guys.

Speaker 5 (30:35):
I love you guys, all.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Right, love you Peanut. Yeah, sorry, Mario.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
Sometimes you know, this show just brings together a community
and brings together people, and when things happen like that, it's.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
It takes you a second.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
It does. It reminds me of yesterday's show with Terry
came on and he said, you know, us, as human beings,
we gotta We gotta pull each other up. That's what
it's about. We got to pull each other up, man and.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
Tackle every day with positivity and enthusiasm. You can't plant
your flag and think things were better back in nineteen
eighty nine. You can adapt and evolve and change, and
that is how you find happiness in this life. Glad
we heard from Peanut. There a five nine two eight
oh two two eight seven. If you'd like to join
the show, I've got some more fun things I'd like
to talk to you about.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Mario, let's talk about it.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
Well, I guess this lead up isn't fun. But there
was a news story this week that a five year
old fell off a cruise ship.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
It's a Disney cruise ship. Did you see this headline?

Speaker 1 (31:28):
I did not, okay, so that this is like a
Disney dreamline or whatever they're They're going from the Bahamas
back to Florida and a five year old fell off
the cruise ship.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
He fall off, just fell off. I'm not sure he's okay.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
His dad jumped into the water and treaded water for
over twenty minutes before the boat turned around, and they
had a lifeboat come out and rescue the kid and
the dad. They're both okay, but man, twenty minutes of
tread and water with your son after he jumps off
the cruise ship and an insane story from this week.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
That is scary. Man, that is scary. That makes me
not want to go on a cruise. Ain't tom soon,
I'll tell you that.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
But well, you might never want to go on a
cruise again if you watch the newest Netflix documentary Mario.
Just the other night, I watched the Poop Cruise on Netflix.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
Do you know what the poop Cruise? Oh? What's the poop? Oh?

Speaker 3 (32:13):
My god, what's the poop Cruise? He doesn't know?

Speaker 1 (32:15):
Okay, So back and I think it was twenty thirteen ish,
there was a carnival cruise that took off. They were
nearing the end of their journey that third, fourth or
fifth day, and there was an engine fire and it
actually burned all of the power cords, so there was
no power left on the cruise ship.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
And that's okay for the most part, until you realize
the toilets don't work anymore.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
So the advice of the crew was that you could
go number one in the shower and number two in
a red bag that they were giving to all the
people on the cruise.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
Well, it took.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
Several days for rescuers to actually get the boat into
the nearest port.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
Okay, so Mario.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
The documentary is about those three or four days of
just disaster. People poop being in showers, people ripping the
mattresses and sheets, taking it to the deck because there's
no ac inside the boat. People started going crazy. Was
Lord of the Flies on the Carnival cruise ship on
the Poop Cruise. If you haven't checked it out, it's

(33:16):
about an hour long documentary on Netflix.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
It will make you never want to go on a cruise.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
I can't imagine. You know, you booked your crews for
months and you're excited to get on, you know, the
cruise ship, and then that happens.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
Oh you have a great time. I mean three or
four days, you're turning around, You're gonna go home. They
highlighted a bachelorette party. You know, they're just having fun
and then it turns into chaos, and I you know,
I gotta say, I was pretty surprised by how nice
the the passengers were about the crew.

Speaker 3 (33:46):
After they pulled into port. It was like universal praise.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
These guys did everything they could to help us, which
was the opposite of what I thought they were gonna say, right,
they were gonna just bash Carnival. But I do want
to bash Carnival for what they offered the crew or
the passengers after going through this whole ordeal. What do
you think would be a proper I guess restitution for
going through the poop cruise?

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Mario, Money's nice.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
Money's nice. I just thought it was a little low
the amount of money that they gave him. I took
a picture because I could not believe it.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
I'm gonna I got.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
To find it here. While I'm talking Mario. They offered
a free cruise. I believe it was a refund on
the ticket in five hundred dollars.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
It's not bad. You want more? I want more? You
kidding me? This is supposed to be my vacation.

Speaker 1 (34:31):
Now you're giving me a free cruise ride, a refund
on my money, and five hundred dollars.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
I thought that was a little low free cruise and
you get five hundred dollars the emotional damage that I've
been through. Mario.

Speaker 1 (34:44):
Look, I'm suing. I'm doing something a little bit more
than five hundred dollars. I have never been on a
cruise ship. I guess you've never either.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
You have to tell me this story.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
I probably won't be Yeah, yeah, I don't know if
a lot of people will.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
We got the news yesterday that TBT the Basket All
Tournament Lave Familia Kentucky team got a strange new addition
to the roster yesterday in a YouTuber named Jesser. Now,
I didn't know anything about Jesser. I had to go
look him up.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
You did.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
I had no idea about Jester.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
Do you know who Jesser is?

Speaker 3 (35:15):
Do you know who Jesser is? My friend in the front?
Do you know who Jesster is? I guess no, that's
a no no.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
I figured that it might appeal to the younger audience, though,
but Jesser has over thirty one million subscribers on YouTube.
Described as the mister Beasts of the basketball world when
it comes to social media content.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
He's like the content creator king for basketball, I would
say for especially for young kids. Young kids love him.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
They did like a content creator contest and he was
one of the captains picking the teams. That's how involved
he is with this scene and how popular he is
but Mario, I'm torn. This is supposed to be a
basketball tournament. This is supposed to be former Kentucky players.
These are guys that maybe play profecion overseas. This is
such a switch up. I'm a little confused. Do you

(36:04):
like the move the addition of Jesser.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
I like it. I mean he's not a professional you know, basket,
He's not at that pro level. I'm not gonna say that,
but he brings other things to the table as far
as exposure for a lah familia, Okay, I mean he,
like you said, thirty million subscribers on YouTube. That's gonna
bring kids in the seats. That's gonna bring you know,
fans of Jesser. They just want to see Jesser suit up,
even if he's not gonna play or whatever the case

(36:28):
may be, or if he won't get enough playing time,
whatever the case may be. They want to see jess
or that. I think that's the main thing. He's gonna
bring exposure to lot of.

Speaker 1 (36:35):
So like maybe, uh, you know, you've got the game
in hand, you're by twenty, you're trying to find that
elim ending and you can put Jesser in and that
would bring a whole new wave of excitement to the
Lave Familia game.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
Of course, that's what it's about, man, And it's never
been done before. I don't think we've ever had a
content creator play in the TVT tournament.

Speaker 1 (36:53):
No, this is interesting, Uh, and I think it's a
great business move for Jesser and the TBT.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (36:59):
You just don't know how competitive he's going to be Mario,
you know, see, Man, is he going to be a
garbage time type of guy or you know, I kind
of relate with TVG. I think there's a situation where
some things don't work out with guys that they want
to bring in, so they're trying to fill out the
roster as we get closer to the date.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
But this is this is a move out of left field.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
We'll see if a YouTube start can hang with the
right likes of Willie colly Stein, who is actually friends
with this guy Jo.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
I like it, man, I think it's I'm all for
the new things. You know, we need new stuff like that.
Maybe I don't. We don't know how good he's going
to be on the floor, but hopefully with him playing
with these guys, they'll elevate his game. So I don't know.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
We'll see okay, uh five two two six five six
six five six if you have an opinion on that.
We're near the end of the show, so I don't
think we have any callers on the line, so we'll
just keep it here. Uh, Mario, let me get your
opinion on an opinion by Jay Billis. J Billis is
somebody that has hosted KSR several times, very familiar to
the college basketball world but also the NBA. But do

(37:54):
you agree when J Billis says, if you prefer college
basketball over the NBA, it's not for the basketball. I
guess the argument is the highest level of basketball's played
at the NBA, So if you like college basketball, it's
for tradition, it's for pageantry, and it's not for the
quality of basketball that you're watching.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
I don't know if I agree with that one. I mean,
there's two different games. NBA is obviously more talented, but
college basketball is more centered towards like an environment, you know,
the environment, but the players the schools play with a lot,
you know, it's more passion involved in the overall game
of college basketball compared to the NBA. So it's just

(38:33):
I feel like it's just about what you want about
what you like. If you like you know NBA where
you can see talent on full, talent on display, see
superstars play at a high level, that's for you. And
if you like you know environment, you know going crazy
like in roupp Arena or or you know, Cameron Door Stadium,
that's probably college basketball is probably for you. So I

(38:54):
feel like it's suited for whatever you like.

Speaker 1 (38:56):
It sounds like you agree with j billis do you
like the environments that the pageantry of college basketball, But
if you're looking for the best basketball, it would be
in the NBA.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
Yeah, I mean yeah, I mean NBA basketball is the
most talented player, the most talented play. Those guys are talented.

Speaker 1 (39:09):
I mean this is like the elite level athletes in
this country, those guys.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
And there's only what fifteen guys on a roster.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
So, I mean it's it takes a while to even
get to the association.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
It's hard. What do you prefer though, college basketball or NBA.
I'm an NBA guys NBA. I grew up watching NBA.
You know that's kind of like in my community growing up,
you know, everybody wants to go to the NBA. Yeah, right, right,
So that's kind of the main thing for me, and
I like college basketball. That's that's the stepping stone to
the NBA. And I think a lot of a lot
of players that you know, had success in college basketball

(39:40):
going to the NBA to continue their stories. So I'm
all for it. I'm more of NBA guys.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
Yeah, you just see the same style in the NBA.
They know what works best a lot of times, right,
I think sometimes that can get monotonous. And you know,
anytime Travis Perry or Trent no It could come in
and represent their state for a program like Kentucky and
hit a big three, that's something that I think they
the NBA has a hard time matching. There's exciting moments,
the stories look great. College basketball is NCAA tournament, and

(40:06):
the storylines of like these smaller school guys doing great things.
I think that's why college basketball will have my.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
Storylines by far. You know, they destroy the NBA when
you get into March madness. That's all what it's about.
It's about stories, right, So I think college basketball, when
it comes to storylines and creating something special, they have that.

Speaker 3 (40:22):
And man, this season can't start soon enough.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
I mean the excitement is high with mark pub Do
you think expectations are too high?

Speaker 2 (40:27):
For No, This is Kentucky. This is why. This is
what it's about. Man. You can't you can't complain about expectations.
This is why Kentucky is Kentucky.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
I think Marko say the exact same thing that you
were saying, and he has right.

Speaker 2 (40:39):
We want to play the best, we want to be
the best.

Speaker 1 (40:42):
And I think that's the mentality that you absolutely have
to have as the Kentucky coach. And you know, with
Louisville that game being so much sooner this year, it's
gonna be it's gonna get going soon.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
Yeah, that's gonna be a good one. I mean, they
have a really good squad over there. But you know,
I know Kentucky's gonna compete and it's good for the state.
The robber lead is at an all Tom Hine, I
think it's gonna be great for the state of Kentucky.
Big thank you to.
