Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome everyone to another edition of the KSR pre Show.
Today is Friday, July eighteenth. I'm Billy Rutlands along with
Shannon the Dude. You can give us call on the
Clark's Pumping Shot phone line. That's eight five nine two
eight zho two two eight seven. Text us at five
oh two two six five six six five six And
as always, the KSR pre Show is brought to you
by Italics Fine Italian Dining right here in Lexington in

(00:23):
the city center on Main Street. Normally on Fridays we
are out on location at a remote. That is not
the case today and maybe the last Friday that we're
not on a remote until maybe the end of the year, Shannon.
But we are here in studio ready to go. Happy Friday.
What's up man, Hey?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Doing well? Glad it's Friday, looking forward to the weekend.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
You know, it was a week ago today we were
at Ryan Lemon's house in his backyard watching him try
to choke down ten donuts and film miserably. Uh so, yeah,
we're in studio a lot less entertaining than the last Friday.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
I wouldn't say miserably, I mean our guy made it dramatic.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Uh he was miserable. Trust me.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Well, at the end he was shoving it all together
and trying to finish the challenge. But we knew it
was tough when we saw those donuts. There was no
doubt about it. Mark Steub spoke at SEC Media Days yesterday.
We'll touch on that a little later in the show.
And also the TVT starts tonight nine pm at Memorial
Coliseum versus Stroe's Squad. I'm excited about the start of that, Shannon,

(01:22):
because I mean, man for this, you know, second year
in a row. I've really enjoyed getting to know these
TVT guys and them coming on KSR. Has been a
lot of fun over the last couple of days. But
you know, the consensus is that Archie Goodwin joining the
show yesterday may may have been one of the better
KSR segments of all time, as Archie got a little
vulnerable and talked about his time at Kentucky. And that

(01:44):
was a really cool moment yesterday with Ryan Drew and Archie,
don't you think.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Oh yeah, yeah. He definitely a good talker too. You know,
we talked about some of these guys who would just
kind of give you one or two word answers. But
Archie was good man. It was a lot of fun
to have him on. I don't think he'd ever been
on KSR before. I think that was the first time
ever he's been.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yeah, he was waiting years to ask him a couple
questions like that it was first time on KSR.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
But like, just.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Happy that these guys are able to have that opportunity, right,
I mean, we spoke with Khalil Whitney and Ansley Almanor
and both have talked about the love that they felt
from the fan base or the love that they will
feel from the fan base when doing this TBT tournament.
And Archie, I mean, man, you could hear it in
his voice talking about some of the struggles that he
went to. You know, when he was playing so well

(02:27):
at the point guard spot and cal decides to move
him to the two and that's not his game. I mean,
he's I'm sure not alone, Shannon, right, I mean, I'm
sure there's plenty of stories like that that we haven't
heard from from Kentucky guys, but for him to be
so vulnerable, it was really a special moment.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yes, yeah, and I'll throw on the twins as well.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
You know who I think felt a lot of criticism
while they were here, and you know, there was a
lot of criticism from our own fan base. But you
know that's part of it. When you're here at Kentucky,
you're under the spotlight. You heard a coach once famously
say this isn't for everybody, and even the guys who
think that it is for them, it still can be tough,
especially when you're struggling. As great as this fan base is,

(03:05):
if you're struggling, you're going to hear about it. And
you know, that's sort of the thing that you heard,
I think from the Twins yesterday.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
And Archie spoke for six straight minutes when it's talking
about his time at Kentucky yesterday to a question from
Ryan talking about you know, you know, if there was
one do over year, it was probably your year at Kentucky.
Six straight minutes. He talked to to the guys about
some of his issues. It was like therapy, and so
big thank you to the TBT for having those guys
on the show the last couple of days. Tonight, nine pm,

(03:34):
Memorial Coliseum versus Stroe's Squad. It's an assortment of different alumni,
not just one school. Shannon, but their best player is
the former Seattle University star Riley Grigsby. So the distant
a little ken in the TBT here, But as long
as Griggsby doesn't go off for forty, I think it

(03:54):
should be a convincing win for the guys tonight, and
then if they win, they play again. It's Sunday afternoon
in the round of thirty two, so that all starts tonight.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Well, look, you know this, it's family first.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
You know, the Kentucky team is called Lo Familia, right,
so I have to pull for my fellow Griggsby out
there on the other team tonight. But other than that,
I hope that the team lose. But I hope that,
you know, my distant cousin twice removed goes for forty
tonight there for the TVT opening game.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
And great job with the dump button, Willie coley Stein
maybe got a little head of himself. Ye, Ryan and
Drew didn't step in to say do you make sure
you get that Shannon?

Speaker 4 (04:29):
You were just listening.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
What up to teamwork?

Speaker 5 (04:31):
You like?

Speaker 3 (04:31):
You know, Billy, if somebody were on here just dropping
words that you can't say on the radio, you would
probably say, hey, man, let's pause for a minute. Make
sure you got that. You can't be saying this. This
is not your podcast. You can't just say whatever you want.
These are FCC regulated airwaves we're on here, that's right.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Who's covering that? Fine, that's true, not me.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Mark Stoops could have used a dump button at SEC
Media Days yesterday. But we'll get to more of that
in a little bit, Shannon. We have to talk about
there's really one story on my mind, one story that
I could not escape yesterday if you went anywhere on
the internet, and that was this affair that was caught
at a cold Play concert. You've seen this, right, of course,
I mean how have you not.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
It's got a megaviny form of social media is everywhere, so.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
If you haven't seen it, I mean, there was a
cold Play concert Wednesday in Boston and they decided to
mix it up a little bit and do a kiss cam.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
But that turned into a little bit of a pr
disaster for a tech CEO.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Astronomer CEO Andy Byron is shown on the kisscam camera.
His arms are around a woman's chest, their fingers are interlocked,
and as soon as they recognize that they're on camera,
they scatter they try to hide, they try to go
under a rock, and it's a subtle reaction that even

(05:49):
the lead singer a cold Play, Chris Martin, right, he
was like, either they're really shy or having an affair. Well,
people looked into it, and the woman was actually the
chief HR officer at the same company, Kristin Cabot So
now the CEO of Astronomer and the chief HR officer

(06:09):
were caught having an affair on the kiss cam at
the Coldplay concert on Wednesday night.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
I believe her exact title is chief people Officer. I've
never heard of a chief people officer before. I don't
even know what that means. But apparently she just got
a you know, a I guess promotion within the company,
and I wonder how that happened.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Huh, yeah, I think we figure that out.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Look, I would never advocate for cheating at all, but
if you're gonna cheat, dude at a cold Play concert.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Really, we're gonna do this at a cold Play concert. Unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
It is gone, like you said Megaviral, the cameraman who
caught them, you know, has been interviewed. His response was,
I didn't know who this couple was. I mean, how
would he how would he know? And I believe there
was actually a response from the guy who was involved
in it too, But it was just so funny to
see it because there he is.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
And then the moment he realizes, oh, we're up on the.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
Big screen, he tries to get out of dodge as
quickly as possible.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Too late. Now, pal, he gotcha.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
The company, Astronomer is valued at one point two billion
dollars and and the HR person that was hired last November,
the CEO gushed about her twenty years of HR experience
and exceptional leadership skills. Well, she definitely had some leadership
skills that appealed to him. But Shannon, look this is
not a new occurrence. You go to any NBA basketball game,

(07:31):
you go to a Major League baseball game, there are
kiss cams, So if you're with you know, your honey,
you might expect to get on a kiss cam.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
I was on a kiss cam, Shannon. I actually have
a video of.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Being on the kiss cam. I might post that a
little later today actually, hopefully.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Yeah, we were at the Royals game and somebody was
filming the camp the scoreboard when we got on the
kiss cam and they tapped us on the shoulder and said, hey,
we want to send this to you.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
So that was a cool moment.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
But did you like lay hold on him and I want
to talk about this for a minute before we get
going a video. Now, did you lay into her with
a big smooch or did you like, yeah, I would
go all in, Like I wouldn't just give her a
little peck on the cheek, I would, you know, I
would go all in to where you know it make
them want to take the camera off of me.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
No, I mean, I mean it wasn't much of a
French kiss. It was you know, it was just it
was a good kiss, Shannon. It was like like a
or anything like that. Maybe a little slight tongue action,
that's a good way to describe it. But you know,
sometimes it can get a little graphic on kiss cams.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
It was none of that.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
But I am convinced that this affair would not have
been exposed if they did not react like that. Shannon,
tell me I'm wrong that this would just be another
couple on the kiss cam.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
Nobody would have thought about it.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
Again, But it was the way that they reacted that
everybody looked into the story and found out that these
people were actually at the same company.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
It's always the cover up that gets you in trouble.
If they had just played it off, you know, just
maybe even smooched each other, you know that no one
would have known. No one would have made a big
deal about it. No one probably knew these two unless
you know you were there and you were a friend
of them or a coworker of them. But nobody would
even know. It was the reaction. It was the cover

(09:07):
up that got them both in trouble.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Can you imagine the team's conversation at the at the
company yesterday. Man, just see the HR chief and the
CEO like this, that can't happen.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
That can't be though.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
I mean, I guess you know you'd have to report
this to HR and it would go to her, right,
so she yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
So do you even go to work that day? Like,
what are you gonna do?

Speaker 5 (09:27):
HR?

Speaker 4 (09:27):
I mean, I'm not even using PTO today.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
First of all, if I'm worth a couple of billion dollars,
i might just go ahead and retire.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Like what are you even doing?

Speaker 3 (09:33):
If I tell you, if I'm worth a billion dollars,
I'm not working. My butt's gonna be on a beach
somewhere drinking a margarita. It's not going to be at
a Coldplay concert with some side check. It's going to
be it's gonna be like permanent vacation for me. So
this guy maybe should take my advice and maybe fold
and go enjoy life, and go and enjoy that one

(09:55):
point two billion dollars that he's worth.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
I've actually got a response from him.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Okay, I haven't seen this yet.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
He didn't text me. This is actually posted online from
Andy Byron.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
This guy has become famous CEO Andy Byron, who says,
I want to acknowledge the moment that's been circulating online
and the disappointment it's callsed. What was supposed to be
a night of music and joy turned into a deeply
personal mistake playing out on a very public stage. Now
you think, He says, I want to sincerely apologize to
my wife, my family, and my team at Astronomer. You

(10:29):
deserve better for me as a partner, a father, and
as a leader. He said, this is not who I
want to be or how I want to present represent
the company. Well, guess what, dude, this is who you are.
This is not who I want to be. I think
this is who you are. He goes on to say,
I'm taking time to reflect. Now there's that vacation I
was talking about, to take accountability and to figure out

(10:50):
the next steps personally and professionally. I asked for prophecy
as I navigate that process. Then he kind of closes
with these last words. He says, I also want to
express how troubling it is that what should have been
a private moment became public without my consent.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Now he's playing he's plenty a break. He says.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
I respect artist and entertainers, but I hope we can
all think more deeply about how the about the impact
of turning someone's someone else's life into a spectacle. As
a friend once said, lights will guide you home and
ignite your bones.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
And I will try to fix you.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
He quoted a cold Play song at the end of
a statement.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
Is that real?

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Is?

Speaker 2 (11:35):
It's on Facebook? It's got to be real.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
I thought it was real until the cold Play quote
at the end. That's parody right there. But I'm a
little mad at that response. Honestly, playing the victim like
that my privacy without me allowing.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
You to share. The man will lock out your house.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Your prophecy is over all, right, doesn't matter where it is.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
We can't keep to rock and chair on the porch.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
I mean, this guy thinks he's gonna take his side
chick to the Coldplay concert and keep it a secret.
I just what a lack of awareness by this guy.
The HR chief after she was hired by the company,
wrote on LinkedIn that her conversations with Byron before her
hiring had her energized about her opportunities at the company.
She also boasted that she wins trust with employees of

(12:21):
all levels, from CEOs to managers to assistance.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
So Shannon, maybe she.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Should just, I guess, take a page out of her
own HR playbook and and not date somebody at the company.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
I don't know how you handle that.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
When you're in HR and you're the there's gotta be
somebody else in HR to, like, you know, check some
balance on her too, right, Because if she's the end
all be all, the head of HR and he's the
head of the company, I mean, who's going to tell
him he has to fire her unless he's got I
guess maybe board of directors or something like that involved.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
But well, I help, So if the company's valued at
over a billion dollars.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
You can't let this continue, right.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
I wouldn't think so. But he said he's taking some
time off. He's probably going to that beach.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
I was talking about enjoying some of that money and uh, privacy.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Do you think this is the end of it? Do
we hear any more about this?

Speaker 3 (13:08):
Or is this just his moment in the spotlight and
it'll go away in a couple of days.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Well, the story will be followed and unfortunately this guy
will be known for this or you know, not unfortunately.
I mean he was just doing adultry right, like it was.
You know, it's something that you don't have a lot
of sympathy for. I saw the wife of the CEO
had already removed her surname from her Facebook profile picture,
and you know, they have children. I feel bad because
that's you know, that defines their life, you know, and

(13:34):
it's why is mommy rich? Well, you know, Daddy ended
up taking his side chick to a Coldplay concert and
I got fifty percent in the divorce. Like it is
a crazy story. But if you haven't checked that out
that the video is online, you cannot miss.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
You don't go to cold Play shows they're watching you,
they know your every move.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
Would you ever go to a cold Play show?

Speaker 6 (13:52):
Shit?

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Well, that's what I was saying. I mean, of all
the plays, is a cold Play concert?

Speaker 4 (13:56):
Those tickets are not cheap.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Remember when I.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
Was a per cold Play?

Speaker 3 (14:00):
When I was on the Active rock station, we were
a hard rock station, and then there for a while,
the company took over the playlist and like our program
director didn't have the power anymore to play what we
would normally play, and they kind of changed the Fox
was this, like I said, modern moderate hard rock station
into an alternative station for a while, and I had

(14:22):
to play cold Play. And I've never been so embarrassed
in my life to go from a rock show where
we're playing you know, Metallica and ac DC to playing Coldplay.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
That didn't last long, though.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
I can almost see you pulling your hair out having
to play Viva Levita for the third time in your shift.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
I would, actually I would go. If I had to
talk out of a cold Play song, I would go. Listen, everybody,
I'm sorry. I walked out of the studio for five minutes.
I came back in Coldplay was on. I don't know
who's playing this prank on me. I didn't actually play that,
you know, that wasn't me. I just didn't want the
heat of you know, people going, why are you playing Coldplay?

Speaker 2 (14:57):
Dude? Really on this station? Come on?

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Yeah, But it goes back to what you said, Shannon,
The cover up is what gets you caught.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
I almost got away with it. A popular show.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
You say, nine times out of ten, it's because of
the stupid way they tried to hide the body.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
This guy almost got away with cheating at a cold
Play concert.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
A five nine two two two eight seven textas five
o two two six five six six five six. We'll
talk a little bit about the SEC media days and
Coach Stoops talking at them yesterday. Hopefully nobody's stealing salads
in New York trying to get a date. But we'll
talk about all that kind of stuff. We'll be right back,
all right, Welcome back. It's Friday edition of the ksrpre
Show with Billy and the Dude. One person on the

(15:36):
text line says, it's a it's refreshing to hear how
much Shannon is against Coldplay as well.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
Worst band ever.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
There's one song that I kind of do like by them.
I'll come clean there's one song trying to get the
movie now, Oh, Wedding Crashers. There's a cold song and
Wedding Crashers love that movie. It's called Sparks, and I
kind of do like that song. Other than that, No,
I'm not a Coldplay fan.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
A couple people on the text line saying that letter
is definitely fake. So Shannon may have gotten aied or
sent old or whatever.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
You know what it's saying, Okay, this person may be AI.
How do you know it's fake.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
I don't have time to research.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
I'm just saying it may be fakes as much as
my Adam Sandler quotes.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
Are you reading?

Speaker 1 (16:22):
The apology letter may have been fake? But I kind
of almost sniffed that out when he did the cold
Play lyric at the end.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
But it would be appropriate ties it all together, it.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
Would but like please, like, come on, give me a
break two eight to zho.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
The other thing is too, I was just telling you
this during the break.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
Oh, this was perfect. Yes, go aheay.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
So I mean here's my theory. I'm just gonna go
ahead and make one assumption about this. When they're going
around and they're doing the kiss cam at the Coldplay concert.
I'm going to assume that this couple is not the
first couple of the night that they put up on
the big screen. So if you're this guy cheating and
you see that they're going around with a camera and
they're putting up couples on the big screen, why wouldn't

(17:05):
you just go?

Speaker 2 (17:06):
You know what, I think I'm gonna go grab a beer.
I'll be right back.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Like, this guy is an idiot, he's an idiot billionaire, Like,
how do you make that mistake?

Speaker 2 (17:14):
How stupid can you be?

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Well, yeah, you just sidestep each other for just a
couple minutes while the kiss cam plays out, and then
you continue your business, right, I mean an elite time
to go get a beer. Shit Like that's perfect. Have
a little situational awareness. I mean, what a moron arms
over the chest, interlocking fingers.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
I mean they're begging to be on the kiss cam
at that point they are. Now what about the woman
that if somebody texted this? And what about the woman
next to them that was all smiles? I mean, this
looks like somebody that works with them has been covering
up for them.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Maybe, oh, you think there's an accompolis here.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
I think the woman that they immediately show to the
left of them or are left They're right, has to
be somebody that knows the drama and knows what the
next twenty four hours are gonna be at that company network?

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Is this ape? Is this the person that threw their
arms up in the air. You're telling you.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
No, No, I think I'm talking about the woman that
was just smiling. Ifack and watch the left of her,
you can, you can go back and later see it.

Speaker 4 (18:11):
But she I think she was implicit.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
There may be some people implicit around them knowing that
this affair was happening. But you know, cheaters deserve to
be caught, and this is a situation where justice maybe was.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Shown a little too. She definitely knew she was like
her buddy.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
She definitely looks like she knows the lore between this
alleged affair here but a five nine two two to
eight seven. You can't bet on it on Draft Kings, Shannon.
But DraftKings is a place where you can bet on
a lot of things.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
Right Yes, she can go there right now.

Speaker 3 (18:42):

fifty and bonus bets and you can get live bets,

Speaker 1 (19:11):
We'll save stoops for the next segment. But yesterday CBS
announced they are canceling The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
They will have one more season and it will end
in May of twenty twenty six. Shannon scoffing over there,
and that may be a sentiment of why this show
is being canceled. They said it was purely a financial decision.
But since twenty nineteen, thirty percent or they have had

(19:33):
a thirty percent drop in the audience TV viewership between
the ages of eighteen and forty nine, Shannon, people just
don't watch late night television anymore. And Stephen Colbert was
number one in the ratings ahead of Kimmel and Fallon,
Yas announced that they are canceling the show.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
The late night thing has gone down hill so badly,
and Stephen Colbert are so smug.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
I can't stay in hill Man. I never could. Well.

Speaker 4 (19:56):
The partisan politics I think drove a lot of people.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
That's really a oxious and just his demeanor in general
is sort of obnoxious. But I'm gonna tell you, I
used to love Conan O'Brien. I thought he was the greatest.
I mean, during college, we would stay up late just
to watch all of his like little skits and stuff
that he would do.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
He was hilarious.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
I thought he was better than Letterman and Leno put together.
Love Conan O'Brien. But of course none of those guys
are even a part of late night television now, you know.
I guess if I had to pick, like, which one
is my favorite that exists now, would probably be Fallon.
You know, But even his show isn't nearly as funny
as what Conan O'Brien's was.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
Yeah, and he's he's a little goofy, right like.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Conen was as goofy as it gets. I mean, that's
why it was funny. Conan O'Brien was just off the rails, goofy,
but he was funny. You know. Part of it was
his big goofy red hair, you know, poofed up and
combed over that. He just looked funny. He looked like
a puppet out there, and his jokes were always funny too.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
No, I liked Conan two.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
It is worth mentioning though, that this is you know,
the Late Show was an institution, man, I mean, go
back to David Letterman. This is something that was a
part of Americana, in our culture. And so the fact
that late shows just are kind of falling off, it's
it's indicative at the times and how we just do
everything streaming wise. But you know what, it's a it's
just the end of an era.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
I mean.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
And so May twenty twenty six we will see the
end of Stephen Colbert and the Late Show.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
But it seems like nobody was watching anyway.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
No, and Colbert just basically turned that into his political platform.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
I don't care about that, dude, Like it's not funny.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
I would love to host a late show. Can we
do a KSR Late Show? Shannon? Something like that?

Speaker 3 (21:37):
No, I already do an early show. I want to
if it means I don't want to get at five
o'clock every morning.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Look, I mean we already do postgame shows at one
in the morning, two in the morning sometimes, but I
don't know there's some avenue there. We got a lot
of talented people at KSR. We could get Mario to
start hosting a late show with some of the players
coming on or something like that. It might be a
cool idea, but you know, those also have studio audiences too,
kind of like the price is right, people go travel
to go watch that show in person.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
You're gonna catch me doing that. I might go to
SNL though. That might be a cool experience.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Never really been to any though.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
The Paul Horning Show was the I guess the closest
thing I've ever been to anything like this, you know,
like it was a sports talk show. They would record it.
They would then bring in you know, like a different
athletes and stuff, and they were recorded. They would are
on Sundays, like the Sunday Show that would come on
like NFL Sunday Ticket.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
They would play it on that.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
So that's right, that's our new idea, Sunday night KSR
late show maybe that's what we'll start.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
We'll come back here on the ksrpre show head lights.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
The oh Perfect Perfect song. Podcast listeners won't hear Carrie
Underwood before he cheats a five nine two two eight seven.
People telling us the woman on the left does work
at the same company internal affairs division.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Oh my gosh, are we serious internal affairs? I mean,
how perfect is that?

Speaker 1 (23:03):
Oh she's complicit too if she's not a part of
the company right, Yeah, doing her job.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
She's got an internal affair going on right in front
of her eyes, and she's not doing anything to stop it.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
Yeah, you know, I said this during the break. You know,
I don't feel bad for these people having an affair,
but it is a weird human experience where you cannot
open Facebook without this video. Like everybody knows about this now,
that's just that just never happened. Back in the day
where we are all online, we were able to share
stories like this.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
I feel like this is going to be like a
Halloween Express, like you know, expirit Halloween cost during the bell,
Like this might be the you will see it number
one Halloween couple's costume coming up in October, and I can't.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
Wait to see him.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
That is a great idea from Tiger King to the
affair at the Coldplay concert, Uh Shannon. Yesterday at SEC
Media Days Kentucky and Mark Stoops took the podium Mark
Stoops entering his thirteenth year at Kentucky and tip of
the cap to our guy Nick Rousch. The very first
question to Mark Stoops after his opening statement was Mark,

(24:03):
how motivated are you?

Speaker 4 (24:05):
And Mark was not.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
Willing to play ball with Nick Rausch. He says, I
think it's interesting as I talk a lot in the
off season. I love how people grab certain aspects of
things that I say, and it's no different than I've
ever been, zero change. Mark Stoops went on to say
he'd rather use instead of the word motivated, he would
use the word grateful. I think I'm very grateful.

Speaker 4 (24:26):
To be here and happy.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
Well, yeah, you should be grateful they didn't fire after
a four and eight season, Shannon.

Speaker 4 (24:33):
But what do you think I mean?

Speaker 1 (24:34):
I've thought Mark Stoops might maybe lean into the motivated
thing a little bit. It seems like BBN had a
little bit of optimism, but seems like he'd rather play
it down the middle here.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
Yeah, I don't think he wants any part of the
gimmick motivated Mark Stoops. But I think that just shows
how motivator he is. He doesn't want to even talk
about it. That's how motivatd he is. I think he
is leaning into it. We just don't even realize it.
He's he's playing us. I think that's what's going on here.
But but yeah, I mean he's he don't think he
wants any part of it. I don't think he thinks
it's nearly as funny as we do.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
But like show a little humility, right, like kind of
lean into it a little bit, admits some of your mistakes.
I think he was like, yeah, I mean, when you lose,
you can't say certain things. But I mean I think
that would have been a perfect opportunity to lean into
the fan base a little bit. Instead of being motivated,
they're leaning into a fourth and one mentality. Stoops and
the players were saying this in their interviews. It's something

(25:24):
that demands urgency, unity and execution. They have to embrace
the challenge. I mean, that's the right thing to say
before you take on the seventh hardest schedule in the
FBS this year, Shannon. But that's what the mentality you
have to have going into a season like this.

Speaker 3 (25:38):
Oh yeah, I like fourth and one mentality. I like
that statement because yeah, there does need to be some urgency.
Feels like he is quite aware. You know, a lot
of you know, when you're on a hot seat is
self awareness, being aware that you're on the hot seat.
I think that Stoops definitely is filling the pressure and
he kind of took a no nonsense approach. You know,
he's been very i think open with KSR throughout the

(26:01):
years when he did his you know, sit down interviews
with Matt. But I feel like, you know that that
sort of personality is taking a back seat right now
to Mark Stew's being very serious about this and realizing
what's at hand in this upcoming season.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
Well, speaking on that point, he needed to dump button.
He said, this bleeps hard, so you better dive into
it and have fun with it.

Speaker 4 (26:22):
We're all in.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
And probably my favorite part of his opening statements was
he told a story about Alex Afari, the senior linebacker Shannon.

Speaker 4 (26:30):
I don't know if you heard this.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
Alex is originally from Ghana and when he was in
middle school, he tried to sign up for the local
soccer team ended up signing for the football team instead.
He loved it so much he continued to play it,
and the rest is history. He's now the senior linebacker
at Kentucky. At SEC media day, I love that story.
You go in for one sport, you end up playing
it the other.

Speaker 4 (26:49):
I just want to play little football, Shannon being.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
You know what, pretty good at football too. So yeah,
I love that story. And that's you know, I guess
that's one of the good things you get from SEC
media days. It's it's mostly just fluff. I feel like
you don't get a whole lot out of it. But
every now and then you'll get a cool story like that.
But yeah, I don't think there's anything that Mark Stoops
said that's going to change anybody's opinion.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
And every now and then you see something like the
digital backpacks that UK players had.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
Did you see that?

Speaker 2 (27:16):
No, I didn't see this digital backpack film me. Yes.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
So Josh Katis had this on when he was doing
one of his player interviews. I guess this is where
our nil money is going to, Shannon. But he had
a digital backpack on that was displaying his number and
other digital things on his back. You can hear it
is on my screen if you wanted to look up
and see it, if you don't have it on yours.
The backpack that has a screen on it, that has

(27:40):
his number on it.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
Okay, so we need that. Why don't know Casey forgets
what number he is. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (27:48):
I just thought it was like, what are you doing here?

Speaker 3 (27:50):
I've never seen a digital that's my first time seeing
a digital backpack. I didn't have anything like that in school.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
I can tell you that.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
Oh no, look, I've got the Yon Sport backpack I
had from high school. Still, Shannon, that thing's held together
by just a few pieces of strings.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
I think Mom was like an ll bean.

Speaker 4 (28:06):
Yeah, I know exactly, bean.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
So you know that's your appetizer before the UK football
season that we'll start with Toledo at the end of August. Uh,
let's go to the phone, Shann, who's up first today?

Speaker 2 (28:21):
I think this is Joe and Bama.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
I haven't talked to any of our callers off the air,
so I'm just going by colorad D. We have this
great thing in the studio that says it's Joe and Bama.

Speaker 6 (28:29):
So go ahead, Hey, guys, appreciate what you guys do
in the morning. I'm actually driving, sorry that I'm on
my car. However, I wanted to make two points about
the show yesterday. I loved how Nick roush is call
His first question was how are you motivated? I thought
that was brilliant on TV and stoops give a little

(28:49):
bit of a a little smirk. I thought that was
kind of funny.

Speaker 5 (28:54):
Talking about changing subjects.

Speaker 6 (28:56):
Archie Goodwin yesterday was absolutely outstanding.

Speaker 5 (29:00):
Points to that.

Speaker 6 (29:00):
I wanted to apologize forever thinking that he was the problem.
And I think that interview kind of goes to show
how far cal is my way or no way, And
I'm just happy with it when both programs.

Speaker 5 (29:13):
Are going at the moment.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
Yeah, I agree with you, Joe. I appreciate you calling in.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
It's uh those I'm sure there's a lot of stories
like that that we are never able to find out.
This platform was able to give Archie that, you know,
opportunity to be vulnerable and tell his story.

Speaker 4 (29:29):
And and you're in the caller's right.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
I mean, it was Col's way or the highway, and
that even means putting a square peg into a round hole.

Speaker 3 (29:36):
At times, I think we're finally getting to hear some
of these stories too. I don't think comfortable players would
feel comfortable saying that if cal were still the coach
here at Kentucky. But now, you know, as time is,
you know, have moved on from Kentucky, I feel like
you're starting to get a lot more of those stories
behind the scenes.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
From some of the players who are being interviewed.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
No, so great work by Ryan and Drew over these
last two days. Let's go to the phones again. I
believe it's Glenna that's on the line.

Speaker 4 (29:59):
What's up, Lenna, Hey, good morning, good morning.

Speaker 7 (30:04):
You all probably you all probably I'm sorry, I'm on Spaker,
But like the other guy, I'm driving his whale. You
all probably do not remember. But Johnny Carson is the
king of light Night, always will be. He will never
be the browned And what kind of idiot takes a
flame to a concert?

Speaker 4 (30:26):
Thank you, amen, public place like that, that's not the
right place to do it.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
Thanks for the call, Glenna, We appreciate it. Yeah, Johnny
Carson a little bit before my time. I mean, I
think he may have been on the air when I
was alive, but I mean I wasn't actively watching late
night television when I was a kid. But uh yeah,
definitely late night television has gone downhill.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
We can say that. I think we can all agree
on that.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
Were you a Jay Leno fan?

Speaker 2 (30:50):
No, I told you I was a Conan O'Brien fan. Well,
I know you said Leno was okay, he was all right.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
Like I would only watch Leno or Letterman if they
had like a music guest, so I'd watch the end
of it, you know, yeah, somebody that I wanted to see.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
But I really care about that John Stewart.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
I mean, if that's in the same category with the
Daily Show, it kind of is kind of, isn't Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
A little bit.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
I mean it's it's in the same vein, I guess,
but not really late night like I would put Letterman
or Leto or or Cony.

Speaker 4 (31:18):
Right, yeah, that's kind of a different category. Not John Oliver.
Let's go to Joe. Joe is on the line. What's up, Joe?

Speaker 5 (31:25):
Yeah, thank you gentlemen. Last night, I was kind of
having a nice, relaxed to night. And and Shannon's the
big Celtic Laker summer league game. Yes it's a summer
league game, but but but good guys, Shannon. It was
the Bronnie James Show. Oh, I mean, I heard Bronnie, Bronnie,
Bronnie and you know, Shannon, at the end of the night,

(31:48):
when I went to bed, at the end of the night,
at eleven o'clock, I looked at Bronnie's stat line. He
had eight turnovers and he's being guarded by an eighteen
year old Spaniard through the Celligs first round pick named Gonzalez,
and he still had a turnovers. I mean, I mean,
how much is too much when it comes to Bronnie James.
It's just gonna be airtime we turn on the television.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
Yeah, yeah, I feel like he is a big storyline
for the Summer League. Anytime Bronni's playing, they want to
try to put the spotlight on him, you know. And
he did have eighteen points last night, but again, he's
no lebron Let's not try to compare him to his dad.
I'm sick of Bronni and that's that's what we're gonna
keep hearing. So, Billy, do you think Bronni ever makes

(32:32):
it in the league?

Speaker 2 (32:33):
I don't. I don't think he does.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
I think no, unfortunately not.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
I'd love to see him have some success just for
the kid, because I know him, so he's dealing with
a lot. But Joe, I mean, this is the summer League, right,
I mean, these games don't even count, so they've got
to bring in an audience somehow. And we know our
guy Mario's tuned in because of Bronni, so I mean
he's he's going to bring in an audience.

Speaker 5 (32:52):
The Celtic Laker does not need any any Bronnie James
to hype up that robbery. It's one of the greatest
pro sport. It does not need Ronnie James to make
the Celtic later Lakers robbery any more great than it is.
Stay fly, JOm, goodbye.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
All right, Joe, Thank you, Joe.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
I mean I would agree in a regular season game
or the postseason, but this is summer League, where many
of times it's the players that show are a draw.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
Right, It's so hard for me to care and for me,
you know, Bronnie doesn't doesn't move the needle for me
at all.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
No, No, if any think.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
It's just like okay, this guy, they're just gonna try
to cram them down our throat, you know, and just
keep talking about them.

Speaker 2 (33:37):
But I get it.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
They gotta have some sort of talking point. And you
know summer League Celtics Lakers. Even as a Celtics fan,
I just don't care.

Speaker 6 (33:45):
Well.

Speaker 4 (33:45):
I mean, our guy Mara Williams was also in that game.

Speaker 1 (33:47):
I wonder how he did. You know, that's a guy
that I'm excited for. The Celtics are a good team.
You know, he can come in there and and be
a contributor. If he can make the roster, I'm sure
he will be being a second round DRAFTI.

Speaker 4 (33:57):
But we need to take a break. We've got one
segment left.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
I've got more random topics to talk about, including why
US workers aren't using all of their paid time off.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
That's what I care about. What are you doing? Why
aren't you taking.

Speaker 4 (34:09):
Your one person that takes all their paid time?

Speaker 2 (34:11):
Why would you not? You'd be an idiot, not too We'll.

Speaker 1 (34:13):
Be right back, all right, Welcome back. It's our final
segment on a Friday. We'll hand it off to Ryan
and Drew as they host KSR later today. I believe
they'll have some more guests, not from the TBT team,
but I think the Kentucky punter is going to join him.

Speaker 4 (34:30):
The one was zero toughness Shannon, So Ayden la Rose
a game? Yeah, I think so. He's been leaning into it,
so now he'll join us on KSR.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
I just posted the video of me on the kiss
cam at the Kansas City Royals game back in the day, Shannon,
A little less tongue than what I remember, but no
side chicks involved here.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
Tay, you kiss your mom? What do you What kind
of kiss was that for your fiance? Come on, man, really,
I think.

Speaker 4 (34:55):
I think you're not realizing it was one hundred and
ten degrees outside that day.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
We were dying new excuses.

Speaker 4 (35:01):
Look, we just had it, just a little smooch. Shannon. Okay,
there's Are you a PDA guy?

Speaker 2 (35:05):
No, not at all.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
You and Sarah.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
Nobody needs to see that exactly, but the kiss cam
maybe you can. You can take some liberties there. What
was I going to get to next?

Speaker 5 (35:14):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (35:15):
Yes, the one that we teased Why United States workers
aren't taking their paid time off?

Speaker 4 (35:19):
Can you believe this is a story?

Speaker 5 (35:20):
Shit?

Speaker 3 (35:21):
No, Because if your employer gives you time off, why
would you not take it? I mean that's part of
working for that company. That's the perk, right, that's the
benefit you get paid time off? Why in the world,
would you take it?

Speaker 1 (35:34):
Less than half of American workers use all their paid
time off, new research suggests. A new report from Live
Career says a third feel pressure from their employer not
to use all their PTO, and nine percent say their
employer actively discourages taking time off.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
I would say, you need to find a new job.

Speaker 4 (35:53):
Yeah, I mean that's not right.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
More than half fifty nine percent admit that they have
anxiety about taking their paid time off, with their top
concerns being work piling up, missing out on opportunities, and
being perceived as less committed.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
I wouldn't care how I'm perceived.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
I mean, if the again, if the company gives you
X amount of days, take those days.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
All right.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
There's a big focus on mental health in our in
our country, and you would be amazed at just how
much taking a week off can actually help your mental health.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
Clears your mind.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
Now. The problem is kind of going back to what
you mentioned there, work piling up, and just you know,
when I took this last vacation not that long ago,
I had more than one call or text saying, hey,
can you record this for me?

Speaker 2 (36:36):
Can you do that? I'm like, I'm on vacation.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Like, can I not get away for five days without
having to be hassled, you know, for recording spots. I
mean I don't have I don't have a mobile studio.
I'm taking down to the beach with me just you know,
wait till I get back. But that's part of it
work piling up. I feel like people get a lot
of fill, a lot of pressure about how much work
they're going to have to have when they come back,

(36:58):
and then.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
They picking about that. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (37:00):
I try not to check emails, but you know sometimes
I do, even when I'm on vacation. But I'll just
go ahead and tell you when it comes to vacation time,
I am leaving nose stone unturned. I am using every
one of them.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
Smoke them. If you got them, and trust me, we
know then that's you should too. Everybody should. I don't
know why you wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
And if you have anxiety about taking your paid time off,
I mean, you know what would help with that anxiety
is the paid time off.

Speaker 4 (37:23):
I think you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (37:25):
Like this that is going to help you ultimately reset,
have better mental health and be able to attack your
job with you know, some mental clarity. But you know,
our culture our society of capitalism. I mean, i'd even
throw in I think Japan also has a very work
culture like this that I think people do look down on.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
Maybe somebody that would care take a lot of.

Speaker 3 (37:46):
Data out on me all you want, I don't care like,
I do not care like. That's why the company gives
it to you to begin.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
I agree, But you're a You're in a great place, Shannon.
You're you've done this job for twenty years. You know,
you have your own show people that are just starting out,
you know, in turns part time.

Speaker 3 (38:02):
Okay, Well, I would say if you don't like it
as the boss, then maybe the companies shouldn't give you
that amount of time, right, Yeah, no, I.

Speaker 4 (38:09):
Mean I get it. But then that's not legal, right.
You got to give some paid time off exactly.

Speaker 2 (38:14):
And I would say to my boss who's looking down
on me, do you take your vacation time? I bet
they do.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
It's a little different with you. I mean, in competitive fields,
I can understand the pressure of not being there.

Speaker 7 (38:25):
Right.

Speaker 1 (38:25):
If you're not there, you're not learning, you're not being
in front of people in decision makers that could help
you get to that next level. But I also agree
with you, Shanning, You've got to take those times. You
got to take your time just for yourself. Yeah, but
interesting to see that the United States people aren't taking
time off.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
And don't look any crap off anybody who gives you
that for taking it off.

Speaker 1 (38:45):
Yeah, I'd throw it right back at them. And if
they do, maybe you need a different job. I was
a little concerned on the text line how many people
said how easy it was to hack into a.

Speaker 4 (38:54):
Ring doorbell Shannon.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
That's concerning.

Speaker 1 (38:56):
Yeah, multiple suggestions or comments yesterday after our talk about
your rocking chair being stolen is that it's actually quite simple.
You go to the side of your condo where all
the cable hookups are open it it'll be numbered by room. Normally,
you unhook the cable from Shannon's combo condo, wait a
few seconds for the doorbell cam to go offline, and

(39:17):
then you take the chair. Interesting point though by many
of these people is that wouldn't it have to be
a listener of the show seeing is how the chair
was back right after Shannon said something about it, Well.

Speaker 2 (39:28):
Did I tell you that I found out who it was?

Speaker 6 (39:30):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (39:31):
No, development breaking the dinner chare why we were fifty
minutes into the show.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
I didn't know you cared. I thought we were past that.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
Right across the street from my condo is some good
friends of mine who have a condo okay, and apparently
there's a tropical storm coming through the Panhandle, and I
think that they wanted to make sure that that didn't
blow away, so they took the chair to their patio,
which is enclosed.

Speaker 2 (39:56):
Mine is not.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
Theirs is enclosed, and they put it over there, which
is so they were actual looking out for me, but
they didn't tell my renters. So my renters see the
chairs missing, they freak out, They put me on high alert.
They go they report a stolen chair to the front office.
So now we've got them on high alert, thinking there's
a porch pirate. It turns out it was just my
neighbor across the way looking out for me. But it's

(40:19):
still I'm trying to figure out why the ring doorbell
didn't detect the motion of something being taken off my
front porch.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
That's the bigger concern here.

Speaker 4 (40:27):
Yeah, that's my question.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
Because thank you, mister Rogers for getting the rocking chair
before a tropical storm.

Speaker 4 (40:33):
That's very nice of you.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
Yeah, but there was a Jeffrey Epstein three minute gap
in the footage here.

Speaker 3 (40:38):
Like what's apparently they were using a ring doorbell in prison.
I mean it's the same thing, right, well.

Speaker 4 (40:45):
I mean, is it in the peripheral, like is it
kind of like on the side of the doo.

Speaker 3 (40:48):
I'm telling you, Billy, I pay like whatever it is,
five six dollars a month to where it records everything
so I can go back and review, like if something happens,
I can go back and you know, get the get
to the tape, get the instant replay, and it breaks
it down by the hour. But for whatever reason, on
this the chair was stolen between eight thirty and nine
to thirty pm, and my ring video footage goes from

(41:11):
eight thirty the chairs there, you skip ahead, it jumps
to nine thirty chairs gone. So I have a timeline,
but I have no culprit, you know, being caught. I
don't have the thief in action. And that's the problem
with it.

Speaker 1 (41:25):
It's no good Well, so at least you got the
chair back. Yeah, our neighbors are just trying to look
out for you, that's right. I mean it sounds like
a good ending, but we may never know the mystery
of why the ring doorbell stopped for you?

Speaker 2 (41:35):
