Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome everyone to another edition of the KSR Pre Show today, Wednesday,
July thirtieth. I am Billy Rutlerde along with Shannon the Dude.
You can give us call on the Clark's Pumpin' Shop
phone line that's eight five nine two eight h two
two eight seven or Texas at five oh two two
six five six six five six. And the KSR Pre
Show is always brought to you by Italics Fine Italian
(00:23):
Dining in Lexington, Kentucky. That's where I am at today.
Shannon the Dude is in Louisville. We've got tons to
talk about today. Just a lot going on right now.
Uh Kentucky's putting on the pads for the first time
today and practiced in training camp. John Michael Montgomery will
be at studio today with an interview with KSR. But
I'm sure this show is probably going to be dominated
(00:44):
by the events of last night, and my main co host,
Shannon the Dude is joining me this morning. Glad, Shannon's
with us today. What's up? Shannon?
Speaker 2 (00:52):
How we had my main co host, Billy r Sports.
According to Chad Gpt, we had a good timeinelast night
the Legxton Legends game, did we not? Was?
Speaker 3 (01:02):
It was a lot of fun hanging out with you guys.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Oh yeah, yeah, big thank you to Ryan who invited
us out. We stayed in Allan Stein's owner suite. That
was really cool. It was a big occasion as the
former college pitcher Shannon the Dude throughout the first pitch
last night on Make a Wish Night at the Lexington
Legends game.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Excuse me, make a wish night? What does that mean?
What are you saying? It wasn't a wish of mine.
I was asked to throw out the first pitch. Don't
get salty because they didn't ask you. I feel like
you get really like salty and kind of like low
key angry that they didn't ask you to throw out
the first pitch. It wasn't no make a wish night?
What are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (01:37):
There was a girl in a princess outfit that threw
a first pitch, maybe two people in front of you,
along with six other people that did it. So I'm
glad that they included the rock DJ that has six
radio shows and a self appointed radio heavyweight title, which
is really nice.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
That they announced me as the world heavyweight radio.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
That was ridiculous. I don't know did you write the
intro at that, PA, I.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Don't think I put that in there.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
I don't remember if I did, but I love that
they announced me as I walked out to the mound
the world heavyweight radio champion.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
I thought there was a nice touch.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Yeah, but I do want to say, in all seriousness
before we get to the pitch and everything, big thank
you to the Lexton Legends for having me out there
the first time I've been out there, and I will
say to the city of Lexington, get out there and
support the Legends. You've got a great ballpark, especially for
a single a independent team. I mean a great ballpark.
It's a fun atmosphere. The Legends play a fun brand
(02:30):
of baseball. Get out there and support that team. You know,
there were people there, but there wasn't a whole lot
of people there. I would like for that place to
be sold out every night.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
I don't you know. I'm just saying, like, know what
you have in Lexington.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
You've got a fun team there with the Legends and
a really nice ballpark.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Get out there and support that team. Come on. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
It was my first time there too, and the ballpark
was very nice. Everybody was very nice there, and it
was two dollars hot dog, two dollars popcorn, and two
dollars pepsis. It was you know, I think it's twenty
five cent hot dog night tonight.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
They're just giving those things away.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
How do you turn a profit your promotion? Twenty five
cent hot dogs? That's incredible. But you know, Minor League
Baseball has changed a lot over the last five, six,
seven years, and when the Legends lost the affiliation of
Major League Baseball, you know that could have been a
death sentence. But this team is still there, going strong
and definitely goes support. I echo those sentiments by Shannon,
no doubt about it. It was a good time though.
(03:27):
You know, I find myself in the the owner's suite
before the game starts. I'm up there by myself, and
I look down on the field and Ryan LeMond, Shann
and the dude are there. Apparently you guys were playing
catch beforehand, so you were nice, warm and ready to
go before this thing started.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Right, here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
We were a long tossing because I hadn't thrown longer
than from the mound to the home plate since the
Bats game last year. And we got out there and
That was the first thing that kind of shocked me.
I'm like, Ryan just walk Ryan walks around Legends Park,
Legends filled like he's the mayor.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
He's saying hi to everybody. He's like waving me in.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
He's like, I just go on past the ticket taker
guy there. He knows you're coming. Just park over here.
And Ryan is talking to literally everybody in the ballpark.
And you know, after we say our helloes to everybody,
he just goes, all right, let's go down to the field.
Like we mean, like it's not ready for the first
pitch yet, it's twenty minutes from now. He's like, oh no,
it was good. He goes, let's go play catch. He
(04:23):
didn't bring a glove, so he just goes into the
Legends dugout and grabs some player's gloves.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Stop. I, oh no.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
No, you didn't know this.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
No, I didn't know he was taking Legends players gloves.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
He goes, looks, let's throw, let's play catch. I go, okay,
that sounds fun. We'll go down here. Nobody was really
on the field at that time, but there were some
of the player's gloves sitting there in the dugout. Ryan
just goes in and helps himself to whichever he starts
trying on gloves like, oh, this one looks like it'll fit.
And we're out there, we're throwing, we're long tossing, and
I'm throwing, you know, much better than what I thought
I could. I was throwing from short right field all
(04:57):
the way to home plate, and I think what happened
was I kind of threw my armouse.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Oh okay, hold on, hold on here, you're jumping aheadge here.
So I'm glad you're you're nice and warm, you're ready
to go. I was worried because you were saying, you know, oh,
I'm gonna Willie colly Stein this, and and Willy told
us that, you know, he doesn't even own a basketball.
You didn't pick it up until he has to play
for the TVT And so Shannon the dude, it's not
his first rodeo, not his first first pitch. But you know,
(05:24):
obviously you're not practicing at home, so you know you
think that may impacted what eventually happened.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Shane, Well, I mean, first of all, you say the
Willy colly Styn thing. Willy doesn't want a basketball, but
Willy still got in the layup line. Before the TBT game. Okay,
he didn't go out there completely cold.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
I'm glad you warmed up. I wanted you to. I
was worried that you were going to go out there. Yeah,
completely cold.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
But I was throwing pretty good, you know, in the
warm ups and felt pretty good.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
And then we got ready for the first pitch.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
So we go through the first five first pitches right on,
make a wish night the dude, it was the sixth pitch.
You're up for the sixth first pitch, and it looks
like you're gonna go from the front of the mound.
I was I think he did a little fake.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
I did want to.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
I was trying to, you know, get some booze. Yeah,
just try to try to play up the character a
little bit and go to the front of the mound.
And I was about to throw from there.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Well, I was certainly booing. So if you didn't hear that,
it was, it did exist.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
So you get up there, and if you have not
seen the video, I have posted the video on my
Twitter at Billy our Sports.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
And so from the angle, I got my man chanting
the do one right down the middle. I mean it
looked right. I did it looked really good.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Stop right there because I'm going to quote all right
at Billy R Sports.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
This is from fourteen hours ago.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Billy says, right down the middle at Shannon the dude
at go Lex Legends, and I think that's all we
need to say, right.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
And it looked pretty good.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
I was.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
I was at Fresstrike.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
The college picture is back like he never left.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Boom.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
End of story. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
But then so yeah, Mark Stoops talked to the media
a couple of days ago. He's got that procedure coming
up on his face tomorrow. Where is that today?
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Yeah, yeah, Well, finally make their way up, right, So
what Ryan and Jennifer finally make their way up there,
you know, sitting in the suite with us yoga girl please,
Oh yeah, yes, yoga girl. And you know, I go
up there and and Ryan comes up. I'm like, Ryan, Wow,
right down the middle, Shannon the dude looking good. Ryan goes,
(07:29):
oh no, no, no, no, no, no. Billy, we got
an alternate camera angle that might tell a different story.
So I scramble. I've got to get see the alternate
camera angle. I posted the alternate camera angle on my
Twitter at Billy R Sports and Shannon, if we go
to the judges, it looks like your ball may have
bounced before the plate. Do you have anything to say,
(07:53):
any defense of yours?
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Here I do, and I will say this AI is
getting out of control, folks.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Keep this in mind.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
AI can now make videos of people to where it
like you have a perfect pitch and you can run
it through this AI program and it makes it look
like it bounced. So that is the fake video. I mean,
I think it's awfully suspicious. We had the video, it
was out there. It was perfect, perfect pitch right down
the middle, and then like twenty minutes later, Ryan somehow
(08:22):
comes up with this fake AI video that looks like
the ball may have bounced.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Now that's the fake video.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
If you want to believe that, you can believe that
the actual first video Billy has. But this suspicious video
that allegedly shows the ball.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Bouncing, that's that's not even the right video.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Secondly, I will say the catcher didn't do me any favors.
He could have reached out the catcher. This guy is
a lexingded legend, and he he fumbled the ball like
the catcher fumbled the ball. Like how you play a
single light ball and you can't catch it. I don't
understand that. So he could have reached out there grabbed
the ball, it would have been a strike.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
And here the other thing, here's the other thing.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Here's another thing.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
I'm building my defense here.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Yeah, reason three here?
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Did you watch the game itself?
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (09:08):
Yeah, because as as bad as allegedly according to you,
my first pitch was, it wasn't as bad as the
guy that was the starting pitcher for the lex to legends,
because as soon as the game starts he hit the
first guy and delayed the game for five minutes. So
I will say I did not hit anybody, all right.
I thought it was right down the middle. It looked
right down the middle to me. But there are these
(09:29):
altered videos, these doctored videos that have surfaced that have
been altered, and I don't believe them. You can't believe
everything you see on Facebook.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
All right?
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Do you want the catcher to set up in front
of the plate?
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Is that the catcher was set up where the umpire
would set up. I mean the catcher should have been
up there where a catcher should be. I mean, I
would think I shouldn't have to explain this to a
single a baseball player where to set up behind home plate?
Speaker 3 (09:54):
He was ten feet behind the plate. I'm like, what
are you doing? Reach out there and grab it.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
You're right about the legends picture, though, Was it the
first pitch of the game that he hit the batter?
It was like, we're having such a good time making
fun of Shannon and this picture goes out there and
beans the first guy with the first pitch. It was like,
you could not write that any better. Yeah, but you
can be the judge. Go to Twitter at Billy r
Sports or even there's an article about it on KSR.
(10:20):
You can see the two camera angles. The one thing
I'm worried about, though, is the first video has much
more views than the second video.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
The first video is the true video.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Again, if you want to believe AI videos, I mean,
if that's you know, the world you want to live
in is AI, that's fine, it's artificial intelligence. I got
the real intelligence. It's the video that you you first posted.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
That's so, what's the cliche? Like, you know, I screw
up with cliches all the time, but the apology needs
to be as loud as the accusation or whatever. You
never anything, Well, no, it's it's in this instance, it's
the second video that's not getting the same amount of
views as the first, you know, because you make a
bold claim. Everybody here that and I think that's the truth,
(11:01):
but nobody hears the apology or the correction later.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
That's the fake video. Yeah, your first.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Video has almost thirty thousand views and the second one
only has about seventeen. So I'm a little worried the
truth is being manipulated out the fake news.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
I'm just telling you. But either way, that was a
lot of fun. Really enjoyed it. And that won't be
my last lectionton Legends game. I'll come back again.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Oh yeah, yeah, nice.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
Yeah, I mean, you know, I was ready to go
in the bullpen, truth be told. My shoulder is hurting
a little bit. Yeah, like I you know, I saw
some of your snarky comp not to you, Billy, but
like other people's snarky comments. And first of all, I
will say I was a former baseball player. Some of
you are saying, I'll remind you, first of all, that
(11:43):
was twenty years ago, and you don't even know, like.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
The fact that I had a torn rotator cuff.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Ja I did, I did, and it still hurts to
this day, like I've got zero cartilage in my shoulder
right now.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
That is bone on bone in my shoulder.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
I didn't hear that energy yesterday. I didn't hear anything
about a former torn rotator cuff. It's like, find it
out after the season you played with planer fasty eyes.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
I didn't want to have any excuses, and I still
don't have any excuses. I was proud of my first pitch,
and I don't care what anybody says.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Yeah, one person says it was a slider low way
and in the dirt. Many ballplayers swing at that and
either struck out or ground to the right side of
the field. Good throw shot.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
I wasn't going to point that out, but yeah, that's
true too.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
The others say this was embarrassing by a former pitcher
and says, does this pitch look like it was thrown
by a former college baseball player.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Again twenty years ago? You guys act like I just
played college baseball.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Two years ago.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
That was twenty years ago, all right, famous last words,
it's only sixty feet and six inches. Well it was.
It was a good time. Legends reached out. They said, hey,
would you like to throw out a first pitch Billy out,
and you know, I think that ship's passed for me.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
Yeah, especially if you cried like a baby about it.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
So I wouldn't say any tears rolled down my face.
The tears may have come after I heard the chat GPT,
I myself.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
This was another great part of last night too. So
we're sitting up there with Ryan and Yoga Girl, and
Yoga Girl goes, hey, Shannon, do you want to hear
what chat GPT has to say about you? I'm like sure,
and she types in who is Shannon the dude and
chat GBT and it comes up with this, you know,
he's a vibrant radio personality for one hundred point one
to be a KKQ and Q of African ten sports radio,
(13:22):
you know, wrestling personality, this, this, that and the other,
this big long bio that comes up, And then we
got to who is Billy Rutledge And it says on
there his claim.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
To fame is what do you want to read it? It
basically said your claim to fame as being my main
co host.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
So I don't have it. I think you have the
screenshot that Yoga Girl sent it, but it was really
only the first line that got me up, That got me.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Heated, Like, you know, here we go, I got it here.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Billy R's sports rutledge is Shannon the Dude, Grigsby's main
co host and producer on the KSR pre show.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
I bet you to you are? You're my main co host?
Speaker 1 (13:59):
Now, how oh in the world could the stupid AI
aggregate that sentence? Shannon? What is out there on the
internet that would ever say that I am your main
co host?
Speaker 3 (14:09):
Yeah, I've got other co hosts. You're my main one though,
you and.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Then I'm also the producer for this show.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
So feiel privileged that you are my main co host.
I could have any co host, but you are my
main co host.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Billy.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
How many times I get on the show and Shannon's like, oh,
I got a host and answer calls, I got three
shows to do after it.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
But you are my main co host.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
Out of all the people out there, you you should
you should really feel proud to be my main co host.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
Yeah. Yeah, Well, if we've learned anything on the show,
it's that you can't trust AI.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
You know what.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
It doesn't say anything about a Haybill toss, not one word.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Wait wait, wait, there's no not one mention of the
Haybel Toss Championship.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Because nobody cares about that. What they care about is
that you're my main host, my main co host.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
I about left the Legends field.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
You got pro upset.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
I've left. I went, I had to go to the bar,
and then.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
I mentioned something jokingly about Mario moving ahead of you
in my CHSR personality rankings, and I think you legitimately
got mad, just stormed off and went and got a
hot dog. Yeah, it was a fun night last night
the lexon lexand Legends Ballpark, So it was I had
a good time with Mario.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
Two after you left, Shannon, Mario went live on Instagram
and we did that for like twenty twenty five minutes,
and so it was. It was fun hanging out with
the youth. So excited to go back out there. Like
you said, Shannon, Legends was a great time. And thank
you for Alan Stein and everybody that had us out
there last night. A five nine two eight oh two
two eight seven. You be the judge on Shannon the
Dude's first pitch. We'll also get into a lot of
(15:37):
other news stories of the day, including our friend Myron
Medcalf making a bold claim on ESPN about Kentucky and
Arkansas and much more.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
On the way.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
It is a Wednesday edition of the KSR pre show,
We'll be right back, Welcome Back. It is the ksrpre
Show Billy and the Dude A. Five nine two eight
oh two two eight seven is the phone line. You
can always text us at five h two two six
five six six five six, where one person says, I
will take Shannon over anybody that's pitching in the Atlanta
Braves bullpen right now.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
Isn't that the truth? They are terrible.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
I was watching them last night when I got home,
lost to the Royals, and they are I think like
third worst team, maybe second worst team in the National League.
I don't know how that happens with all the talent
the Braves have right like, they're only like fifteen games
ahead of the Rockies, and the Rockies are historically bad.
(16:30):
I think the Braves and the Pirates both have the
same amount of wins right now, and I'm going that
doesn't even make sense, But here we are, and I'm
gonna be going tomorrow actually to watch the Braves and
the Reds in Cincinnati.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Oh nice, that's right again.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Because Matt asked me for the tickets. Again, we were
just talking about this. I didn't ask him for tickets.
I don't never ask people, hey, can I have tickets?
Because people always ask me can I have free tickets?
And he gets.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
Annoying after a while, So I didn't ask him. He
asked me.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
So I will be there tomorrow to watch the terrible
Planta Braves hopefully play spoiler to the Cincinnati Reds.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Well enjoy it. I mean, not only will you get
to see the Braves in person, but with their game
on Saturday being at Bristol Motor Speedway, that could be
the highlight a year.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
Year.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Yeah, if you're a Braves fan, you say that, but
it really could. I mean, there's nothing else to be
too excited about.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
That's right. And you can bet on the Braves, the Reds,
all these teams on DraftKings Sports That's right.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Shannon will see the Reds and Braves later this week,
but it was the Reds blowing a lead against the
Dodgers last night and Cincinnati. The Dodgers scored two and
the seventh and one in the ninth to win five
to four over the Cincinnati Reds, and the Dodgers and
Reds play against tonight because Shoe Hee o Tani's going
to be pitching, Shannon, this is a guy that's top
three in the league in home runs, tenth in the
(18:21):
league in RBIs, and is also somebody that can do
it on the Mount, So that's a good opportunity if
you're in the area to see a generational player, don't you.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
Think you think o Tani?
Speaker 2 (18:31):
I mean, if he keeps on this track that he's
on right now, is he going to go down as
like one of the top five best baseball players of
all time? I mean, a guy who can pitch, a
guy who can hit. And obviously it's going to depend
on what his numbers are at the end of his career.
But I mean, we haven't seen a guy like this
since who Babe Ruth.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
He get pitch and hit.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
And that's and that's why I think we'll we'll think
of him as top three all time eventually. It's you know,
it's it's tough to compare eras it always is because
the game is different. But when you're doing both, you're
pitching and hitting, and you're that good at it, you know,
it's it's only natural that you're going to be considered
one of the greats if you can do it for
a long period of time, right I mean, Bo Jackson
was somebody that was I thought the best in his
(19:15):
four or five years that he played. But since his
you know, career was cut short due to his hip injury.
Then you know, you never really could say he was
a top three player of all time in his sport.
But if Sho Hay does it for a long time,
I think you certainly can't ye in a sport that
needs stars. Speaking of show, hey, a gambling TV series
is in the works at Stars right now. If you remember,
(19:36):
his translator was charged with bank fraud after allegedly stealing
seventeen million dollars from Otani to pay off his gambling debts. Well,
now we're going to get a documentary that is now
in the works and will be at Stars. Shannon, does
that peak your interest at all?
Speaker 3 (19:49):
No, it doesn't.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
I mean probably yeah, to set it up for the
radio show here, but like.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
No, it doesn't.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Still I mean, I mean that happened also fast, right,
I mean, this is the face of baseball, Shoe Otani
and his translator's paying off gambling debts, and you thought
it was showy at first.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
I'm still not convinced it wasn't see, maybe this is
part of that dot. I think there's a fall guy
maybe somewhere in the.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
I think this could be a cover up by the MLB.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
I mean, you don't want to lose your best star, right,
I mean something there. Yeah, we were just talking about
the All Star Game and we were going through all
the guys in the home run derby and I said,
how many of these guys do you know?
Speaker 3 (20:30):
And you knew like one or two, right, So yeah,
it would be bad for the game to lose your
biggest your biggest star. Everybody knows Otani.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
You know, I'm normally the one that sounds like a
conspiracy theorist talking about the NBA, but maybe a little
conspiracy here in the MLB. You know, this comes on
off the heels of MLB banning another Cincinnati Guardians player.
I don't know if you saw this. Oh yeah, yeah,
the closer just got banned and he's the second Guardians
pitcher to be put on this exempt list. And you know,
they went back to the first picture. I think his
(21:00):
name was Ortiz, and there was an unusual betting numbers
when it came to like first pitches of innings, so
it was like ball for the top of the second inning,
and then Ortiz would go out there and just throw
it in the dirt shann in the dudes style, bouncing
before the plate. So you know, this is it's it's
an interesting topic gambling in sports.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
I don't know why people think that they're going to
outsmart these gambling companies. You know, hawks that are watching
every settle. I think that they know you don't think
they track trends and bets. You know, that's really strange
that they're betting ball every time and there's you know,
a thousand people betting ball every every first pitch.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
That's kind of odd.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
Yeah, ten million dollars just came in on the top
of the third inning for the first pitch to be
a ball. It's like, could this compromise the game or
the pitcher here? It's it is wild, no doubt, but
it was. It was really that Alabama coach that did
it for me, for him to be calling the guy
who's in the casino to you know, telling him that
his starter injured to bet this.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
The craziest thing for me is like the pro athletes
who have these multi multi million dollar contracts and they're
betting to win like, you know, fifty thousand dollars. It's like, dude,
you don't even need that, Like, why why would you
risk throwing away your entire career and everything that you
have to win some stupid bet and.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
The Guardians Pitcher is an all star. He's made millions
of dollars. Yeah, it's it is a shame. We'll keep
you updated on that. And we got some more nonsense
on the way here on the case our pre show.
All right, welcome back KSR pre Show live and rolling
on on this Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
Well, John Michael Montgomery right there, that's right.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
I've got to meet him in the lobby at ten
forty five today, you know, offer him some water. You know,
we've got bottled water.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
John, if you'd like anything, you get a fanboy or
you don't even know his music for.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
You Now, I'm on the U. I'm on the ladder
side of that, Shannon. I barely know who he is saying.
I've heard some of his.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Songs, like who would you fanboy out for? If they
were at the station. I had this conversation with Al
Snow a couple of weeks ago, not name dropping. I'm
just saying that to who I was talking to, and
we were talking about when Walter got Walton is it
Walton Walton Goggins, the actor was a part of the
Queen of the Ring movie.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
I was talking it was. Actually I was talking to
his wife and she was talking about.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
How she was freaking out when she got to meet
Walton Goggins, and I go, I wasn't even aware of
who he was until that movie, but she was like,
oh my gosh, it is Walton Goggins, And I was like,
you know, Unfortunately, the amount of people that I would
like fanboy out for I could count on one hand
really probably if I had probably if I had two fingers,
(23:32):
I could still count them on one hand because unfortunately,
all the you know, people that I was such a
huge fan of are dead. You know, all my favorite musicians,
Most of my favorite musicians are dead. There's not many
that I really would would geek out about if I
met there. There are a few, but not many. So
for you who would it be, Like what singer or
celebrity or whoever it may be, you know, athlete.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
You know, Brandon Boyd come up here, that'd be pretty cool.
The lead singer of Inky Biss. But that's a very
personal thing.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
You know. I met him once really backstage. Yeah, at Ropperino.
They played a show.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
Oh nice?
Speaker 2 (24:07):
Was he?
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Was? He nice?
Speaker 2 (24:07):
I mean I didn't like have a full blown conversation,
it's like, hey, how are you man? You know handshake
that wasn't like you no radio DJs of the past
or No.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
I didn't interview him or anything, but he was he
seemed cool.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
You know, Like if if we really go out there,
like Drake came into the studio, that'd probably be a
one where I have a tough time not coming in
here asking for a picture. But this job has allowed
me to meet a lot of people that I think
people would fanboy out over right. Yeah, you know, got
to work closely with Mike Pratt for a while. Didn't
know who dan Isssel was the first time I met him,
(24:39):
Like they were just you know, you learn real quickly
when you brush shoulders with people like that. But you know,
I pinched myself sometimes working with Jack Gibbons all the time.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
Right, I'm just trying to think of athletes. Is there
an athlete that I would really get excited about meeting?
Maybe maybe like one of those old Atlanta braves that
Matt was rattling off yesterday.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
Yeah, you gut segment mentioning eighties and nineties braves.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
I loved it.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
But maybe if I met, you know, I wouldn't geek out,
but I would be excited to meet somebody like a
John Smoltz or a Tom Glavin because they were, you know,
braves from.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Sure my childhood. I kind of did that as a kid.
I met one of my heroes and he was mean,
So like.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
Oh, that's why I say don't be your heroes. Who
was it?
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Who was Mike Alstatt? You know that name is running
back full back for the Buccaneers. Went to his damn camp, Shanon.
This thing's like a five days long you stay there overnight.
I'm at the camp and at the end of the
camp you get to like everybody gets to go to
the office to like have a one on one with Mike.
He signs something for you and you take a picture, right,
(25:41):
And the guy was pretty much like didn't give me
the time of day. He was like, hurry up and
take the pic.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
You know, he said that, or his demeanor was like that.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
No, it's the demeanor of like, okay, come here, let's
get this, let's get this over with. You know what
do you want me to sign? It wasn't like, hey,
that's a camp, but uh, you know they say don't
meet your heroes. Maybe that's the reason why s.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
You know, like the people that I met that I
really was a fan of, we're always very nice to me,
you know. I mean I got Scott, I went Scott
from STP was extremely nice. I've met him two or
three times, as check GPT will tell you that's what
I was a check GPT will tell you I had
one of his final interviews that he ever did before
he passed away. Uh.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
Jerry Lawler was as nice as he could be.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
Spent twenty twenty five minutes with Matt and I at
his club down on Bill Street when we were there
for the NCAA tournament. So the two or three guys
that I would have really you know, really are and
was fans of, were always really nice to me.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Well you could you can admit Al Snow was one
of those people for you too. I mean, I'm sure
that was a great moment to me.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
Now, Oh yeah, I mean, but you see if I
got a new Al, I guess going back to my
very first days in OBW when he was just working backstage,
you know, just like helping produce the show. But yeah,
I mean, it is cool to meet these guys. But
I'm talking about like I don't mean like, Oh, that's
cool to meet this person. They're a celebrity I grew
up watching. I'm talking about like straight up fanboy. You know,
there's a different level between Oh it's cool to meet
(27:00):
that person. I grew up watching this person every Monday
night on rawl on WWE versus.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Like, oh my god, I gotta go have a picture.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
I got to ask him a million questions like that
type is what I'm talking about.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Yeah, that you know, sitting down in a restaurant, you're
going to enter up their meal r for a picture.
Like you don't do that with everybody.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
You should never do that, especially if they're if they're eating,
you shouldn't do it.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
Uh, let's go to the phones before we get to
some more stories, Shan, I believe Eric is on the line.
What's up, Eric?
Speaker 4 (27:28):
Hey, what's up?
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Guys?
Speaker 3 (27:29):
Amen?
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Amen.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
So with show hay I might be a little biased
because I'm a big Show Hayes fan, but in my
mind a lot of baseball minds, he's already the greatest
player to ever live. I mean the way he just
makes contact on the ball. He can take any ball
outside high and just launch it four hundred and fifty feet.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
Yeah, he's pretty amazing.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
I want to wait until his career is over before
I would be personally willing to call him the greatest
of all time. But I think he's definitely going to
be up there in the conversation. Like I was saying
in the first segment, I think you know five right now?
Speaker 3 (28:01):
For me?
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Well, he's a unicorn, right, I mean, have we ever
seen a player have success at this kind of level
both pitching and batting? You know, I'm not sure.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
Yeah, not in my life. Tom Anyway, Derek Guy appreciate. Okay,
thanks Derek, thanks for listening.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
He's just different man. Like was it earlier this year?
You know, he got hit by a pitcher and instead
of doing the whole like you know, unwritten rules of
baseball and being mad about it, he like went over
to the dugout and he was like trying to de
escalate things like it's I mean, as a face of baseball,
I don't think you could have asked for much better
than show. Hey, he's just kind of a different cat.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
When it happens with the Pirates and the Reds, they
just empty the dugout and it's a full on.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
Brawl and we have these Michelangelo like pictures right of
you know, one Reds player trying to take on the
entire Pittsburgh team. Or there's a lot of great moments, Shannon.
We got to talk about our guy, Myron Metgeff, you know,
does a great job. Mary Monday's coming back terrific Tuesday
this summer when he came back. Myron's our guy, whether
(29:01):
he's talking about waffle House or Minnesota sports. But I
think he was trying to get the BBN riled up
a little bit with his right latest article on ESPN,
him and several other writers have been making predictions for
the next college basketball season, and one of the predictions
that Myron made was that Kentucky is going to meet
Arkansas in the Final four.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
Now, yeah, I saw this.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
Is this just Myron trying to get things, you know,
get people riled up, and you think this could be
in the realm of possible.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
Again, I love Myron.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
I think he maybe just speaking things into existence. I
think he knows what he's doing by saying that.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
I mean, we don't.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
Even know if these two teams will be on the
same side of the bracket.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
So could you imagine though, Oh yeah, I mean Final Four.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
That's why we do these articles because at summer there's
nothing really going on, so let's just dream up a
scenario that would make people talk and get clicks. That's right,
and that's what we're doing right now on the pre show.
We're talking about something that is a prediction that has.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
No merit whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
But if it happened, sure it would be great. It'd
be great for the game of college basketball. But yeah,
if you play Arkansas in the Final Four, you gotta
win that game. You've gotta win that game if you're Kentucky.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
That's all we said last year was that Kentucky has
to win that game at Reperena against Arkansas. Yep, and
then the untakable happened. So I think it's forgiven.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Though, when you go as far as Pope did, given
the circumstances, given the team, the roster that he put together,
dealing with the injuries, the fact that you've made it
as far as you did, I think that's forgiven.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
For one regular season loss against your former.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Coach exactly, perception of the season's much different if it
would come in like a twenty win season and you
lose to Arkansas and maybe you struggle in the tournament,
Myron and the writers came to a consensus of ten
title contenders for this next season. Purdue, Florida, Houston, Yukon,
Saint John's, BYU, Michigan, Duke, Louisville, and Kentucky are the
(30:51):
ten teams that can win a title this next year.
And when it came to their top five story lines
of the year, Kentucky versus Louisville on November eleventh was
one of the top ones. Shannon, I think there's a
lot of anticipation for this next basketball matchup between Pat
Kelsey and Mark Pope.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
Oh, no doubt about it. Both teams are going to
be really good. Again.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
We keep going back to the fact that they're playing
this game so early. I mean, I know there's gonna
be another game or two, but it feels like this
is gonna be like this is going to be the
first big game.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
Of the year, right it is, Yeah, and it's going
to be before the football Kentucky Louisville game, which is
going to be bizarre.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
So we're gonna get two basketball games with Louisville before
we get another football game.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Last year's this year's coming up and then the football
game to follow, and Louisville.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
Fan has been pretty chesty this offseason. A lot of
talk about Jaden Quainton's not being ready for that game either.
So we will see how it all plays out. That's
the basketball side of things.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
You know.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
We are much closer to the football season starting. Shannon. Yeah,
and while we mentioned yesterday it got more play on
KSR as a quote that you better back up after
you said it. Bush hammed him talking about Kentucky going
to have one of the great o lines like in
years past. Just a bold clay Man and you can
say that stuff if you back it up. But I
agree with you, guys, you don't. And that becomes a
(32:05):
sticking point of the season, does it not? Like that
becomes something that gets brought up when it comes to
Kentucky's twenty twenty five, twenty twenty sixteen with.
Speaker 3 (32:12):
The pony up comment, right, it just wouldn't go away.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
You know, when Stoop said pony up, if they continue
to win, that would have been dropped.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
Nobody would have said it again.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
But when you say stuff like this offensive line is
going to remind us of some of the greatest offensive
lines in Kentucky's history, you know, and you start bringing
up names words like the Big Blue Wall. People have
great memories of those offensive lines, and when you try
to compare what you have now to those teams in
the past, you better live up to the hype because
I not fans are going to remind you of that
(32:42):
quote after every single loss. And if you believe a
lot of fans, there's going to be a lot of
losses this season.
Speaker 3 (32:48):
So you know, I'm all.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
For being confident, but I think when you're going in
and again, what do we always say lives about expectations
when fans are expecting you not to do well this season,
maybe fly under the radar, maybe lay alot a bit,
maybe say something like, you know, our offensive line is
much improved. I think we're gonna really surprise some people
with how good we are. I would rather some you know,
something like that be said than oh, this is gonna
(33:11):
remind you of some of the great offensive lines of
Kentucky's history.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
That's because that's a high standard, right I mean this
b or Big Blue Wall, like Billy w Entucky. The
Big Blue Wall built Kentucky into what it is today
when it comes to football. In the sec. I mean
two ten win seasons from Mark Stoops that had never
(33:34):
been done before. So I mean that it's a high
standard to live up to. But all I can do
is tip my cap to guy, my guy bush Hampden
having a little billy confidence before the season started, chanting
this is what people must think when they hear me
say all these random ass takes. It's like bordering on
the line of confidence, arrogance, maybe even a little delusion
(33:55):
from bush Hampden saying something.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Like ass takes, as you call them, usually turn into
freezing cold tape.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
Oh but it's okay, it's all right.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
I mean, I'm glad that he has the confidence, but
I don't I don't know that I would be saying
that to the media.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
I hope that he's right.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
That's that's my biggest, like, my biggest takeaway from all
of this.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
I don't want to prove was Shandon wrong.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
I hope he's right, because if he is, that means
we've got a good chance of surprising a lot of people,
as I was saying, and maybe there is a path
to get the six wins if your offensive line holds up.
That's been the weakest point for this team though the
last several seasons.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
And essentially we want him to say these things, right,
I mean, well, we would not want him to say
the opposite, to look about and say we suck.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
Right.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
You know, that's why we get coach speak from all
these coaches, is because when he does say something that's
maybe bordering on the on the edge of confident and arrogance,
then you know, it becomes a talking point and a
sticking point for the season. So training camp or I
believe pads are on today, They're gonna have a practice,
media day being on Friday. I believe KSAR will be
there for that, and then Saturday's fan Day. So I mean,
(35:00):
you'll blink and the season will be here. It'll be
Kentucky versus Toledo here coming up at the end of
next month. Eight five nine two eight h two two
eight seven. We need to take a break. When we
come back, we'll talk about more Kentucky sports and some
random nonsense here on the kaves ourprecio. All right, welcome back.
It is the KASR pre show. Okay, A lot happening
during that break, some stuff I can't share on the air.
(35:23):
Wish you could be a fly on the wall. But
I do see Corey Price. I mean, do you did
you hire him as your defense attorney? Here, Shannon? I mean,
he's taking screenshots. He's trying to claim the ball reach
the plate, and that's all that matters.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
It did, That's all that matters. It went over.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
And you know, some of these umpires may have actually
called that a strike. I've seen some really bad strike calls.
I'm just saying that that could have been a strike.
I do you know one thing? Well, that's that.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
Well, that's fine. I'll save it for later.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
You're gonna save it because I know somebody's gonna be
trying to come after me next hour, and I'll just
save that. Let's just say I got an ace in
the hole, Okay.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
Is that fairly? You know what I'm talking about?
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Is it a reverse card?
Speaker 3 (36:04):
Maybe?
Speaker 2 (36:05):
Yeah, let's say that's a good way to put it.
Speaker 3 (36:08):
I've got the Uno reverse card.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
You're just gonna have to stay tuned and listen to KSR.
I think to hear.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
Maybe if Ryan wants to get chesty, I'm fine with
that because I've got a little something I can share
with the world.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
Okay, all right, look at we'll leave it at that.
I'm not poking or problem in this one A five
nine two O two two eight seven. Shannon, do you
know if a baby is born today, what generation they
belong to?
Speaker 3 (36:35):
Let's see, we just had Gen Z. Does it go
back to A?
Speaker 1 (36:39):
So Jen? A Generation Alpha is people born between twenty
ten and twenty twenty four. Okay, so you're born twenty
twenty five to twenty thirty nine, you are a part
of Generation Beta. Wow, and you were born in the
wrong era. I just been born. I'll ring the bell
for you there. I knew that was coming all the
poor kids in Generation Beta. But if you're a new
(37:02):
mother and maybe you just had a child, that's a
part of Generation Beta. Boy, do I have a new
side hustle for you and Shannon. That's new mothers are
selling their breast milk to bodybuilders for huge amounts of money.
One woman is selling her breast milk for two dollars
per ounce and made eight hundred dollars in just one day.
(37:22):
Another woman that's doing this trend has sold seven thousand
ounces in a matter of the last eight months. And
they are making bank.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Jan literally just squeezing money out of her body. I
mean that's amazing. So body voters want breast milk.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
I didn't know that honeybuilders want breast milk, and I
have no idea why. Data from Queen Mary University of
London reveals that there is no scientific study has evidence
that direct adult consumption of human milk for medicinal properties
offers anything more than a placebo effect. So what's happening here,
body volters?
Speaker 2 (37:57):
I know if I was the one evening for breast milk,
I know what I would be doing.
Speaker 3 (38:02):
I'd be my side hustle.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
Oh yeah, yeah, I mean.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
I've just been sitting around the house squeezing myself all day.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
Is getting milk? It comes more money, There comes more money.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
We talk about how nobody on KSR likes to drink
milk by besides your boy Billy R Sport. That's right,
But I can't think of any adult that I've ever
seen drinking breast milk like that is just that's that's
a little foul to me, honest.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
A little. I think that's a lot of foul. That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
So yeah, I mean you even said it there like
it's only a placebo effect. It doesn't even necessarily have
any scientific evidence. But obviously these bodybuilders are dumb enough
to believe it, and they're showing out big money.
Speaker 3 (38:43):
It sounds like, so.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
It's what is it a protein shake?
Speaker 2 (38:46):
Like?
Speaker 1 (38:46):
Am I am? I mixing it with my way protein?
Speaker 3 (38:48):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
Yeah, I would think so, because if you're a bodybuilder,
you need protein.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
So, I mean.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
It seems ridiculous, but there is you know, I don't
I haven't seen a scientific study, but I mean, you know,
it is healthy for babies to drink breast milk. So
does that translate to you when you're a forty year
old man taking steroids and trying to get a lift
on you know, I'm not sure.
Speaker 2 (39:08):
But I'm not sure either. I don't know, but it
sounds like maybe there's.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
Something to it.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
And regardless if there is or not, the women that
are doing this are the ones who are winning big.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
I mean a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
The cash is green, right, I mean that clears. Those
same women are also selling it to new mothers that
can't make breast milk, and so it actually helps a
lot of people and they sell it for a reduced amount,
at least the women that were highlighted in the article
that I saw. So that's a good thing that comes
out of it, but you never know what you're gonna find.
I got one more random thing for you, Shannon, before
(39:41):
we leave. Charles Barkley was on part of My Take
recently and he said during the interview that he got
the news of inside the NBA transitioning from tn T
to ESPN via the internet. And I hate this phenomenon.
You see it a lot when it comes to players
finding out that their coach is leaving for another team.
How could you have these billion dollar conversations with companies
(40:04):
about the future of sports television and not include talent
and at least like a heads up before the deal's done.
Every time I see these stories, it makes me unrationally
mad because the lack of communication is studying when it
comes to some of these things.
Speaker 3 (40:19):
Yeah, these things just leak out.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
As soon as you tell somebody, there's always a mole
in the room who's going to go, oh, let's leak
this out to somebody. Next thing, you know, it's on
ESPN and it's all over the Internet, and people are
finding out before you even find out yourself, and you're
part of the team.
Speaker 3 (40:32):
So yeah, it's a bad look. It really is.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
Yeah, people finding out that they've been fired or released
from an organization like that is low man. I just
take the time to communicate to the people who are impacted.
You don't know how these people feel finding out that news,
getting text from people like hey, welcome to the ESPN family.
Charles Barky's like, what family? What are you talking about?
(40:55):
That's just just despicable man. In the Internet era, it's
just only gonna get worse.
Speaker 3 (41:00):
I totally agree with you.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
Let me tell you about something that's awesome. That's the

Speaker 1 (41:24):
Okay, I'm kind of really excited for the first segment
of KSR today. You know, I normally am always am,
but if Shannon's using his ace in the hole later.
Who knows where we.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
Might have me talk about it. I mean, I don't know,
who knows what we do to talk about?
Speaker 1 (41:36):
Who knows? We know we'll talk to John Michael mcgomery
coming up at eleven am later today. If you're a
