Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome everyone. It is the KSR pre Show for Thursday,
September eighteenth. I'm Shannon of the Dude, broadcasting today in
a beautiful Mount Vernon, Kentucky. It is a beautiful day
out here. You can give us a call on the
Clark's Pupping Shop phone line at eight five nine two
eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Be our a whiskey
thief call of the day. KSR pre Show is being
brought to you by Italics Fine Italian Dining in Lexington.

(00:24):
And like I said, we are here in Mount Vernon
for the Hunger Walk, broadcasting live on Main Street and
Mount Vernon, right in front of the Community Trust Bank
where walkers, volunteers and neighbors have come together to fight
hunger and feed hope. The walk starts at ten am,
but I think the walk may have started a little
bit early. Ryan Lemon joining me this morning on the
pre show. Ryan, because I got stuck behind all the

(00:46):
walkers and it looked like this an endless stream of kids.
I was like, Okay, at some point, there's got to
be an end, and they just kept coming out. There
are more kids and more kids and more kids. I
don't know what the exact number is. I would say
it felt like about sixteen thousand kids were walking this morning. Yes,
I got stuck in traffic, but good morning, Ryan, Good
to have you here on the pre show. How are

(01:07):
you good morning? Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
The Christian Appalachian Project has the Hunger Walk today. There's
four of them, Yeah, four different kindsers. One here obviously
in Rockcastle County, there's one in Johnson County, there's one
of McCreary County, and then there's one in LCA in Lexington.
But this is the this is the granddaddy. Thirteen hundred
people will be walking today up and down Main Street
right behind us here as part of the Hunger Walk.
So this is this is the first one. This is

(01:28):
the one kind of got started as everything. But there's
four Hunger Walks going on throughout the state today.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Yeah, so six hundred and fifty thousand pounds of food served,
eleven thousand participants in need of and repaired or rebuilt,
two hundred and seventy six homes, and one in five
children and go hungry every day in Appalachia. So that's uh,
that's pretty an astounding and stat there that I wasn't
aware of. Yeah, that's what we're bringing awareness to today.
You can go to christianapp dot org christianapp dot org

(01:57):
to donate today.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
They have three pantries in the state and obviously it's
in the three counties where they're doing the walk today,
Roe Castle County, McCarey County, in Jackson County. And after
our show, I'm going to check out the pantry here
in Rockcastle County. You know, it's one thing about our state,
you know, Appalachia kind of gets forgotten about a lot
of times. Well, the Christian Appalachian Project is trying to

(02:19):
make sure some of these families that need help can
get help, especially when it comes to feeding their families.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
So are you gonna jump in and walk a little
bit later on? Well, you know, I got this show
to do. Yeah, I know. I mean, like after this show,
there's four of them. You point out there's four different walks,
so well they're.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
All going on at the same time. And you know,
my obligation is to you and iHeartRadio.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Plus I didn't I didn't wear the right shoes and
these aren't my walking shoes. What are those shoes? By
the way, My goodness, those shoes look like those are
my blowing shoes. I was gonna say, those look like
shoes that you would go out and mow the line
in or you know, do.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Your weed Eatah, you went know the truth. Yeah, I
went downstairs. I was dressed. It was time to go.
I got to meet Mario at seven forty five. It's
time over, time to go. Either I had two choices
to go back upstairs and get some good shoes or
wear my lawnmowing shoes.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
I chose the right. There is commitment to the pre show.
That's not the commitment we normally get from Billy. That's true.
Billy would not he would have to worry about looking good.
And I try to explain to him, we're on the radio.
Nobody can see you. It's all theater of the mind anyway, right,
So you don't have to worry about it. But I'm
glad that you chose.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Your the lawnmow quicker, more efficient. Yeah, to get out
the door so I can meet you down here in
Rockcastle downy Oh.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Look the topic. We got a lot of things we
could talk about today, and you and I and Mario
will be on KSR. We're three men down, so's just you,
me and Mario yes, correct, And we're gonna be doing
KSR later on. So the topic though, that everybody wants
to talk about, and if you want to save it
for KSR later on, I guess we can. But the
hot topic is how did the date night with yoga

(03:51):
girl go on her birthday? The birthday date? Nright, That
is the topic that everybody in KSR land wants to
know about. How did that go last night? I think
I could sum up in about five words, you know, bounce,
chick a bound, no, stop, We didn't need that. I
assume that you took it to Rodney's, right, you took
it to Rodney's. Went to Rodney's who you know.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Kind of rolled the dice where they have lobster bisk
or not he had lobster bisk.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
I got the text on the way here because I
stayed here last night.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
And I was so happy I texted him. I was like,
put it on social media. His lobster bisk is the
best in the Solar system. I mean, there is no
better lobster bisc on Venus Mars, Russia.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
It doesn't matter. The best Russia is a planet. Yeah,
the best lobster bisc anyway, you are a lobster bisc officiant.
I am like, I never have met anybody in my
life that loves lobster bisk like you. Actually, I don't
know anybody in my life that just goes you know what,
I really love lobster bisk. I no matter where I go,
I need lobster bisk Like I knew lobster bisk existed.

(04:56):
But then it was that trip that you and I
took down to Panama City. Yes, and every place that
we went, yes, if they didn't have lobster bisc on
the menu, you would look at the server and just
boo her. He would do that. I'm like, Ryan, you
gotta calm down. We're in an eating establishment that's, you know,
not classy. But you don't boo the server because they

(05:17):
don't have lobster bisc on the baby boo the server
and you get up and walk out. They don't have. Now,
anytime I see lobster bisk on the menu, I immediately
think of you. So I'm glad that you got your
lobster businesss night. It was so good. How did yoga
girl respond to her Sean Cassidy tickets that you got her?

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Let's just say right, all right, so she liked that.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
She liked that. Yeah, and I think I told you
the surprise she didn't know was coming.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
I already had had her tickets to go see this
candlelight concert in Cincinnati for the.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Fleetwood Mac music. Oh you gonna have these candlelight concerts
with his four string quartet. I've been to one of
those before.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Okay, so they're doing all Fleetwood Mac songs. She loves
Fleetwood Mac.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
That's cool.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
She already had that, already purchased that. When the Shawan
Cassidy tickets fill in my lap this.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Week, that I could, I felt like you hit a
home run like I felt you so too. You went
above and beyond. Yeah, you took her out. You got her.
What was the dinner free? Was it comped?

Speaker 2 (06:09):
It was not, which it shouldn't be for dinner, for
birthday dinner. You should have for it.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Yeah, but I know you, I know how you like
to save a dollar any anytime you can get a
cupon somewhere.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Those guys have to be twins. Yeah, look at there,
exactly a lot.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
He's already going squirrel on meirl. We're talking lobster bisk
and you're you're pointing out twins in the in the
crowd here.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
But she had a great you know, a lot of
people tweeted her yesterday. She was very touched, very you know,
filt the BB in love for her birthday yesterday. So
you know her birthday was yesterday, Kelly mcdowells.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
There she is. Her birthdays today, May birthday and Mario's
birthdays tomorrow. Oh really yes hery, Happy birthday Mario. I
didn't know we had all these birthdays. Yeah, I know,
and I are bunched up here together. So I was
driving up here last night. I stayed in the uh
stayed in Mount Vernon last night. Mount Vernon last night.
And you know, I've always passed renfro Valley going. I
would like to stop off there and go to renfro Valley. Yeah,

(07:00):
if you were a star in country music in the
eighties or nineties, you've either played there or you're going
to be about to play there. I was looking up
like all the different country musicians that are coming in,
Sammy Kershaw, there we go, there we go here and
Tipping black Hawk, uh, Kentucky Headhunters. I mean, there's like
the who's who of eighties and nineties play right here.

(07:23):
In this area, which is just right up the road
from now. So I'm thinking that I may have to
come back and uh maybe go to Renfro Valley. I've
always wanted to go. I've always heard good things about it,
and it's it's just right up the road. So maybe
if I didn't have a louder than life later on today,
I could just stop stay here maybe and stop off
at Renfro Valley and go see some of the you know,
I can remember from the eighties, my grandmother and probably
the eighties, Yeah, taking a bust load of church people

(07:46):
from church in Indiana and driving down here to Renfro
Valley for concerts over the Yes, wow, I mean Ryn
from Valley. I should know this.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
It's been around forever, but I mean it's it's been
kind of a staple here in my Rnning for a
long time. That has brought in a lot of these
country music artists, big, big name over the years.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Oh yeah, I mean a lot of them. Even you
remember Jackal they were a rock band. They're going to
be playing there. They really going through the schedule going
man for it was just country music and gospel music
and well mostly it is, but a little bit of
I guess rocks that they that's right. Yeah, So I'm
just thinking that their bus get lost going to Louder
than Life and in Renfro Valley. I'm just saying for

(08:24):
a little bit of area, they bring in some big
time musicians and I think that's really cool. All right,
So Kentucky football obviously on a bye week. Mark Stoops
talked in a teleconference yesterday about his approach this bye week.
Kentucky has been really bad coming off bye week. Six
and ten under Mark Stoops, five and nine if we're
calling if we're counting SEC games only, so five and

(08:45):
nine in this he sees six and ten overall. And
he said that he reached out to some of his
fellow SEC coaches to ask what their approach was, and
I was kind of surprised that they would even, you know,
tell them, because you know, I'm competing against you. I'm
not going to give you any sort of sort of
insider tip of how we approach the bye week. But
he said that this week they're going heavy in practice,

(09:06):
heavy in the weight room, you know, not really taking
it off to rest too much. I mean, obviously the
guys that are injured are gonna have to, you know,
heal up a little bit, but everybody that's healthy on
the roster. They're going heavy this week to get ready
for South Carolina next week. I feel like maybe that's
the approach they need to take. Maybe they were going
too easy, taking it too easy in the previous years
in the bye week. But that's something that's been really

(09:29):
tough for Kentucky coming off these bye weeks, and South
Carolina is a swing game coming up that you feel like,
if you get that one, this can really change the
trajectory of the season.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
You gotta do something, Like you said, you hit the
record right there, what five and nine? You gotta do
something because his teams have been bad coming off of
a bye week. I think in years past they've kind
of used the bye week too, like you said, rest up,
go easy, get their players kind of more physically ready
to play the rest of the SEC season.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
That obviously has not worked. So maybe this is it.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Maybe by going heavy, treating it like a real game week,
getting them, you know, your body physically ready, not just
taking the week off, maybe.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
We'll help they go down to South Carolina. Anything and
then what they've been doing, I mean, whatever you were
doing just change it up, don't keep doing the same thing.
I mean, whatever you were doing clearly wasn't working. Yeah,
if your mark stoop. So maybe that's the approach that
they take going forward. And then you got that second
bye week in the in the season now, so.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Yeah, it's like October third, the two bye weeks are
kind of early for Kentucky, right.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
He also talked about Cutter Bowley, saying that he looks
more comfortable now, and I think that I thought he
looked really comfortable, really confident against Eastern Michigan. You know
he started, I guess against October tenth. I'm sorry October third,
October tenth, okay, October tenth. Yeah, I was thinking in
my head as you were talking, is that right now?
It's October tenth. But he was saying that Cutter bowl
he looks like he's more confident, more comfortable now, And
as we've said, I think that that QB one spot

(10:48):
is his to lose at this point. And you know,
South Carolina coming into that game, they're starting quarterback Sellers
is questionable sight. So he's fifty basically if he's going
to play or not, we don't know, but there's a
good chance that he won't play. This is a chance
to really go in on the road, steal this game
and get back to beating South Carolina. As we've talked

(11:09):
about for the longest time Stoops owned South Carolina. Last
few years, South Carolina has had their number. This is
a chance for I think for Kentucky to go in
get one here and flip a lot of the fan
base too.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
That's why I like to hearing what you said about
Stoops is kind of his coaching philosophy this week because
Cutter will have all the reps with the ones again,
So not only this week the bye week, but next
week game week for tough console two weeks, taking all
the snaps with the ones give him all to him.
So by treating it like a real game week type
of situation, that's just gonna help may help him, you know,

(11:40):
get better if he tries to get more comfortable being
QB one.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Now I would expect to heavy run like a lot
of heavy run game. Yeah, you know, dowd l has
been great. Mcgallan now, McCowan has been great too. Yeah,
Daldell didn't have a great game against the Eastern Michigan,
but the first two games you know was a big contributor.
I think it's gonna be a heavy run game again.
The offensive line, I think has been a good surprise
that it's been so much better than it was last year.

(12:06):
I think that's also obviously very important when you got
a young quarterback in Cutter Bowley keeping the pressure off
of him. So I think, really, I mean, if we're
just looking through three three games so far, the the
MVPs of the team, if it's been the offensive line
in the running game, no doubt they're and so I
think they'll probably go heavy run against South Carolina as well.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
And that's what Stoops wants. You know, he wanted this
ground and pounded running game type of offense. You know,
eat up the clock, move the chains, keep the other
team's offense off the field. He wants to play that way.
And he's got a couple of running backs and now
he's got the offensive line that they can do that,
they can play that way. You mentioned South Carolina's quarterback Sellers.
I mean, if he doesn't play, that's a big swing
for them, because when he left in the Vanderbilt game,

(12:45):
he got knocked out of the Vanderbilt game. South Carolina's
offense kind of fell apart.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
I think of a seven to seven then he got
knocked out and van he went up like what was it,
thirty thirty one to seven seven. So I don't know
much about South Carolina's backup quarterback. I don't either. You
must not play very well. So I mean that if
that if you're looking for like a silver lining or
looking for hope against South Carolina, if Sellers is out,
I think that. I looked at that Vandy game and

(13:10):
I think that right there they laid out the game
plan and how you want to approach it.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
They play Missouri South Kunaway's Missouri this weekend, so that's
a tough game. If Selver doesn't play in that game,
well then you got to think, Okay, maybe he's out
for longer than we thought because with concussion protocol, I
don't know how long they're going to keep him out
of the.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
Out of the practice. Maybe he had e in practice
this week. I don't know. And if Missouri knocks off
South Carolina this week, then you gotta think South Carolina
is no longer in the top twenty five at that point,
I'm sure probably you know limps into that game at Kentucky,
but I'm not going. Oh, I don't blame it.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Yeah, last time I went down there and they fractured
my jaw, so Bob.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Ryan went going, he got sucker punched and was sucking
food through a straw for two weeks.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
I am not going down there ever again. Although will
say the atmosphere is one of the best.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
It was all really pushed in the faces of the best.
Well that was after the game. During the game, it
was pretty cool to be there. Have we ever found
the guy? I can't remember what happened? Do we ever
find the guy? Or no? I talked to the police officer.
How is it in the year twenty twenty five. We've
got everybody's got, you know, phones with cameras, and there's
security cameras and parking lots, and they couldn't find the

(14:15):
guy that sucker punched you.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
I can say this now. The police officer came over
to me, and when I picked myself up off the ground,
he said, I ask you twice if you were okay,
and you said yes both times. I don't remember talking
to the police officer. Oh, no at all, No at all.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
If you ever talked to an attorney after a fight
or after a car wreck. The answer is always no,
I'm not okay, I'm not okay. Yeah, I'll get you
to call TJ. He'll make that day exactly well, if
we can find the guy. Twenty two eighty seven broadcasting
live from Main Street of Mount Vernon for the Hunger
Walk right in front of the Community Trust Bank. Come
on out. We're gonna be here till noon. Until then,
it is the KSR pre Show, Shitt of the Dude

(14:52):
and Ryan Lemon will take your calls coming up next.
All right, welcome back. It is the KSR pre Show.
September is Hunger Action Month and Christian Apple Latching Project
is hosting its fourteenth annual Hunger Walk. That is why
while we are here today and we've got some folks
joining us here at the broadcast, and should we talk
about what they said during the break one? We got

(15:12):
to talk about what these saying. So you know we're
wearing these orange shirts, yes, and these guys the orange.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Jacob Roberts over here, he said, that's color of the
Hunger Walk, right, And everybody wears orange.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
And there's this long stretch of people walking and most
of them are little bitty kids. Yeah, and these guys thought, man,
like the prisoners, the prisoners out for a morning walk.
They let the prisoners out for their morning walk. And
I'm going, these are all little bitty kids. I mean,
they couldn't been over what seven or eight years old?

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Well like the elementary kids, all the elementary kids of
rock Castle County are going to be a part of
this walk. We you got behind them there walking in
the start line, I guess, so you.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Know, like my hotel was five minutes from here, so
I thought, you know, no problem, just come right over,
right wrong, got behind a that long stretch of kids
walking over and I thought, am I gonna make it
to the show today? Or should I just put on
an orange shirt and jump in line and follow them
over here? But they had all the roads blocked up.
The other these guys were saying, and we're just going
just we're not gonna say your name, so we're not
you know, let's.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Just say there are three guys from Jackson County that
go to Cumberland's.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Yeah, but that could be anybody that skipped school today
to come and watch our show. But that could be anybody,
could be anybody. They were talking there two twins they
said they were in Chicago, right, and they went to
the United Center and there was no game going on,
so they just wanted to see, like, you know, what
does the inside of the United Center look like? Why not?
So they are breaking in entering. Any who has always
told you in big buildings like that, there's always a

(16:31):
side door, Shannon the dude Rupp arena side door as
a side door. Yep, bridgetone arena in that side door.
CC tournament side door. You just got to know which
one to go in. Uh huh. These guys went to
Chicago and they found the side door. They did. They
walked into the United Center. They said they got almost
all the way down to the floor when they finally
got caught.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Got in the United Center. We're walking down the tunnel
to the floor. Security guys like, hey, guys, can I
help you?

Speaker 1 (16:57):
What are you doing now? Isn't there a guy that
does this on like TikTok or Yeah? His whole thing
is like he I guess maybe sometimes he will wait
for the game to be over, is that right? And
then he just sort of walks and tries to see
how long he can stay in the stadium after it
closes down. Well, there's the guy like sweeping, you know,
the the aisles and this guy is like just sitting
there waiting to get kicked out.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
Yeah, he did it at Kroger Field during the day
and was there for a look, it looked like a
couple hours just walking around, went all the way to
the top of Kroger Field and did a little TikTok
bit whatever he does.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
You've never snuck into anywhere before, of course not. I
am a law abiding citizen. Yeah, I'm amazed, like even okay,
so louder than life has going on today. Yes, and
they've got a whole new setup out there and I
and look, you talk about security because things like that.
My point of telling you this is like it's kind
of like, I'm glad you guys did that, but it's
also kind of concerning that you can just walk into

(17:46):
a building and just have your way and do whatever
you want.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
And this day and age, security at the highest levels
ever been. Right these guys from Jackson County, Right, I'm
gonna say they're up there from Jackson County.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
Well, I'm not saying, but I'm saying, like last weekend
at Bourbon and Beyond, there were so many different access points.
It would have been very easy to just walk right
on in without without a band or anything. And one
of my friends said, I said, I didn't know you
had tickets. He said, I didn't. I just walked right in.
You gotta be kidding me. And those expenses are those

(18:18):
tickets are not cheap. And if you've been I mean,
I assume a lot of people have been to the
Kentucky State Fair at some point, you know, they had
the Fare and expos Center, so they've got all the
stages sort of backed up to that, and you have
to at some point, or you don't have to, but
you can't at any point walk through the Expo Center.
And then once you walk through the Expo Center, like
through a loading dock, you can just walk right in.

(18:39):
And I'm not trying to give anybody like ideas, uh huh,
but I'm just saying, like, that's what happened last week.
I didn't even know where I was supposed to go.
I was just wandering around, and I'm going, well, I
just walked right in. I didn't even have to have
a ticket. You know, three dudes from Rockcastle County would
never do something like that.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Oh, absolutely, dudes from Jackson County. They're breaking an entery
and every chance they get.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
So, speaking of Louder than Life, I did with you
last week with Bourbon and Beyond. Yeah, let's see. Do
you know any of the Louder than Life bands today?
This is like Bourbon and Beyond on steroids. This is
how I like to describe Louder than Life. If you
went to Bourbon and Beyond last week, it's kind of
laid back. You got a good mix of older people
and younger people and really just all sorts of demographics.
Louder than Life is gonna be louder. It is crazy,

(19:22):
it is extreme. It is We had the guy calling
yesterday that said they do like some sort of like
karate mosh pit thing. Oh yeah, I've never even heard
of that before, but I'm gonna be looking for it,
but from a safe distance. So let's go through and
see what band you know here from today's Louder than Life.
And I'm not gonna go through all of them here,
but Marilyn Manson. You know Marilyn Manson.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
I know him, but I was not on that flight
when he set between Drew and Matt on the plane.

Speaker 1 (19:46):
Still one of my favorite KOSR stories of all the time,
like they had the chance. If you've heard this story before,
Drew and Matt got on a plane set right beside
Marilyn Manson, I think Marilyn Manson, they said, set right
between them in the middle, like his wife was up there.
And the guy goes, now, Marylyn Manson goes, now, I
want to sit with these guys. Sits down between them.

(20:07):
Drew had to hold an object, won't say what it
is for Marilyn Manson, you can imagine. And then Marilyn
Manson even invited them back to their house and what
I'm calling the biggest fumble in KSR history. They go, nah,
that's okay, man, it was all about it.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
But the other guy in the group, Matt Jones, said no, gotta,
we gotta go get ready for a podcast.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
I can't imagine that many people, and especially that many strangers,
just got an invite to Marilyn Manson's house, Like I
would just go. I would just go out of curiosity.
What does Marilyn Manson's house look like? Yeah, but and
see what happens. Go down to a Marilyn Manson party.
But he will be there later on tonight, Rob Zombie.
You know who Rob Zombie is. I've heard of Rob

(20:51):
Zombie and then Slayer, who was supposed to play last
year but it got rained out. Okay, so they're bringing
them back this year. So those are your your three
main bands. First, I've heard of all of them. Good.
All right. Now here's the thing. Matt can't go to
Louder than Life. Drew went to Bourbenham Beyond last week. Yes,
he's out for Louder than Life this weekend. I can't
get Mario Billy can't go, right. I can't get Mario

(21:12):
to go with me? Right? Can I get Ryan Lemon
to go one day to Louder Than Life? I honestly
would like to go. I'm gonna be in Nebraska this
week in we Can Michigan. You are going to Nebraska? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (21:24):
All right, as soon as our show's over tomorrow, wild Eggs,
I'm flying to Cincinnati to fly to Nebraska.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
Have you ever been to Nebraska? Have we driven through Nebraska?
I mean I've been to Omaha. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
I did the College Softball World Series game for WLAP
when the UK women's softball team player.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
Trying to remember if we've done a KOSR trip that
took us through Nebraska. I feel like if we did,
it would be a lot like no, you know what
we just did? We we did go through Nebraska. Just uh,
didn't we go through Nebraska on our trip out to Seattle?
What town did we? Did we stay in town in Nebrako?

Speaker 3 (21:56):
No?

Speaker 1 (21:56):
But I felt like we went out there. I felt
we stopped off at a little diner. I think we
did go through the nebressa I wouldn't be showing and
you know that shows you how it's not even memorable. No,
you know, why would you want to go to Nebraska.
Unlet's you know, than Key's playing there. Hey five nine
two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, we are live

All right, you were telling me that we were in Curning, Nebraska.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Somebody somebody on the Avision glass text machine. You and
I couldn't remember it, but a Texter remember we were
in Kerning, Nebraska. Do you remember anything at all about
our stop in Kurning, Nebras.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
Because we stop off of these random little airbnbs and
they all just run together. So I'm sure we went
out to some little bar and grill in Curning, Nebraska.
I couldn't tell you anything about it other than I
remember being there just because of the name. Was that
maybe the diner that we stopped off in? I think
I feel like I know that because I was the
person who got to pick where we ate at that day.

(24:13):
Uh huh. I think was the diner like on kind
of like a main street lift? Is? No? No, no,
it was off of off of a Highway. Okay, yeah,
we stopped in one day. They all run together, man,
That's the thing. We go to all these places, and
we probably have been places that we don't even know obviously,
but it feels like they just after you've been. I
have zero memory of it. Zero. It's got to be

(24:33):
like what it's u to be a Tory musician. You
just go from town town town, you wake up in
and it all runs together. I thought of you on this.
Oh yeah, first of all, before we get to that, uh,
south Side Chuck right saying, we were talking about just
going into venues and just walking right in, right, and
I was telling you how easy it was to walk
into Bourbon and beyond fest last week. South Side Chuck says, Dude,
I walked in all four days to Bourbon and Beyond

(24:55):
off the side entrance of Preston Highway. Even waved at
the gate guard. He way back and said, have a
great time. My response with us, thanks buddy, and he
walked right on in. So did you act like you belong?
That's the time people won't even mess with you. I'm
telling you, man, you walk in, You're right man. It's
all about just owning it, ye and looking like you
belong there, And a lot of times those guys don't care,

(25:17):
they're they're just sitting there. One of the guys, we
walked past one guy, he was a security guard and
he was sitting there asleep with his hoodie over like, well,
it's gonna be really hard to get past this.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
Well, we do have some Louder than Life tickets we're
gonna give away during KSR for somebody it's here to
want to go.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
How are we gonna do that? Best question? Probably I'll
probably answer a trivia question. Yeah. I saw during the
break you went around with a bowl, yeah, and blank
pieces of paper and you gave everybody a pen. What
is that about? What are you doing?

Speaker 2 (25:44):
Well, we're gonna try something new on KSR. You know,
every time we do one of these live remotes, we
get really good crowds. They never kind of get to participate,
that's true. So we're gonna give them a chance to
write a question on a piece of paper, put.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
It in the bowl.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
We're all gonna randomly pick out a question. We have
to answer it, no matter what it is, no matter what. Well,
you're putting a lot of trust in these people. I mean,
there could be some there are.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
Some criminals right here in the front row from Jackson County.
That's true. Man, You're you're putting uh this So we're
gonna try it. We're gonna see how it goes the
show's hands and into these folks here with us. So
everybody comes today can submit a question that we're gonna answer.
Let's take a phone call eight five nine, twenty two
eighty seven. Who do we have up first? Limb Drew
and Corbyn? Hey Drew, what's going on?

Speaker 3 (26:26):
Hey guys a long time? They'll talk too, I can
finally yeah, man, uh yeah, yeah, good to hear from
you too. Uh. Two quick things one Ryan, just as
all the matter comes to Corbyn tomorrow night. Uh so
that answered. Yeah, you answer my questions. So you're not
gonna be there, You're gonna be over in Nebraska.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Correct, Yeah, we'll go.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Last time I was down to the Douglas Corbyn game,
it was at six to nothing showdown.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
They had opening their new stadium.

Speaker 3 (26:55):
Oh listen, we've just we just put the finishing touches
on it too. It's under believable. So get down here
when you can. Okay. Now, I was in Lexington and
a few years ago with my sons and the twenty
fifteen team. They were preparing to go to the Bahamas.
I told my boys, I said, guys, I'm sure the
team is working out. Let's go by and see if

(27:16):
we can meet some of them. I literally just said that.
So we go over pull into the parking lot next
to the lodge, and I noticed a security guard kept
coming in and out, in and out of the Joe
Craft Center. So when that guy took off out of
the way one time, I caught the door and so
I took my three sons down through the craft center.
The guys were down there lifting weights. We met Tyler Elis,

(27:38):
Carl Towns, Dakari Johnson, and Andrew Harrison, all just because
we walked around down downstairs like we just knew we
were supposed to be there.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Now.

Speaker 3 (27:47):
We stuck out because my three sons were little. Joel
Justine stopped said guys, can I help you? And I said,
I'm going to be honest. I said, that's right, but
I said, I want to be honest. Coach. We found
an open door and we just came in. He said,
he looked around, he goes, all right, have a ball,
and so we stuck around there, and it was one

(28:09):
of the one of the best days of my young
son's lives, where to go in there and meet all
those guys just just because we walked in. So I
just wanted that story.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
Yeah that's awesome. Yeah, there you go again, walk in,
walk in with confidence. And sometimes if the people are cool,
like Joel Justice, maybe you get to go around and
just you know, do whatever you want. You can meet
the players. And I'm not encouraging anybody else to do that,
but I'm sure there's a lot of stories of people
who have just walked in places and you act like
you belong there and you get away with it.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
Sometimes, you know, you hear these stories like this and
there's really there's no harm, no foul, you know. Yeah, Now,
you can't be walking into like the Jobe Hall Lodge,
although I think several females have done that over the years,
been snuck in through windows.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
I'm sure. I'm sure there's a lot of those stories suitcases.
Yeah that story. Have we told that story before? I
feel like we have probably had tell that. Yeah, tell
tell that story.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
Just a former UK basketball player which I will will
remain nameless, but he was from like New Zealand.

Speaker 1 (29:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
Uh, put a female in a large suitcase. No no, no, no,
hold on, no, no, let's let's let's back up. She voluntarily,
she did. He didn't stuff her in the suitcase. She
voluntarily got in the suitcase. Which is amazing because like
I have a suitcase. I packed a suitcase for my
stay here in Mount Vernon last night. I can't imagine
squeezing into a suitca and that's a large suitcase that
I have.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
I can't imagine. She had to be tiny and very flexible,
I would say.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
I would say so and wheeled her in through the
lodge after a room undetected.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
Wow. So some of the things that I guess player
players will do to get females in. Some of the
stories you hear from those guys are crazy. And then
if you're Lobel, I guess you just walk them right
in and then you get busted and lose your national title. Yeah,
an undress when you walk in? Eight five, nine, twenty
two eighty seven. Who's next? Adam, Adam, Hey, Adam, what's up?

Speaker 4 (30:00):
Hey? What's up?

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Guys?

Speaker 1 (30:01):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (30:02):
You know I'm trying to be the optimistic we Uh.
I really think that with South Carolina coming up as
Sellers is out, you know, continuing the defensive line has
been getting good pushes. You know that we haven't had
many turnovers or playing clean football. You know, if you
can beat South Carolina and Florida is in shambles, they

(30:26):
might not have their coach by the time they come in.
So with Tennessee Tech, then you're at five wins. You
just need one more? Is that that Vanderbilt is?

Speaker 1 (30:35):
You know?

Speaker 4 (30:36):
Is that Louisville? You know? Do you just need one more?
I don't feel like we're that far off of making.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
A bowl game. So are you gonna jump on the
six and six bandwagon with me? Adam? Is that what
you're saying? Ye'll know? Oh, okay, I think I think
it's basically what he's saying. He thinks the Kentucky can
go six and six, which I've been saying all all
year long and all off season. The path is definitely there.
You know, you do have to get I think a
game like South Carolina, one of these swing games. You

(31:04):
do have to get one of those. Vanderbilt I think
is still beatable. I mean, they're not gonna be world
beaters going throughout the season, although I think they got
a break with Sellers going down in the South Carolina
game and winning that game. So you get South Carolina,
let's say you get Vandy. You still got Tennessee Tech
on the schedule too, right, And I feel like that
Lobel game, we don't even know anything about Lobell yet
because they haven't played anybody, so I'm not even I'm

(31:26):
not even convinced that Lobel is really that good. So
I think there are still plenty of winnable games on
the schedule left to get to six and six.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
I felt like for them to still one, their best
chance was to get one of these on the road
at Auburn, down at Vandy, at Louisville. Well, Auburn I
think be better than I thought. Vandy I think is
better than I thought.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
So is Dandy's ranked number twentieth? Is that right?

Speaker 3 (31:49):
Is?

Speaker 2 (31:49):
Probably they just knocked off a top twenty five team
on the road in South Carolina.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
Okay, that's I'm just looking at the schedule, and again,
Vanderbilt number twenty. I didn't even know they were ranked,
But I think I like was argument.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
If Kentucky is sitting on five wins going into that
Louisville game.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
They'll get it. Oh, yeah, get it. Yeah, Mark Stoops
will not, especially with Vince Merrow being there. Now, Yeah,
you know that he's gonna get the the big dog.
I don't remember. I don't ring a bell the big dog. Huh,
don't remember then ringo bell. Did I tell you that
he faced on me? No? He faced on me about
two or three weeks ago for what. Uh he was
hanging out with a mutual friend. And I didn't know that.

(32:27):
I told Billy this. I thought you listened to the
pre show in the shower every morning. You didn't hear
the story I was talking about. I was walking downstairs.
So Vince Marrow again on face FaceTime. I didn't know
you could leave a voice message like a face video
message whatever. And my phone was off and I open it,
you know, turn it back on, and and there's a
FaceTime message that's a lot from video, Yeah, from Vince Merrow.

(32:51):
And I called him back, and uh, he he talked
to me for a for a minute, and he just
wanted to say, hey, look, I'm still your singing partner.
But I hear you talking all crap about me on
the radio. And I had to explain to him, like,
I hope you understand. Yeah, I still love you, but
you went to Louisville and we were gonna give you
a crap off because that's what we do. You signed
up for that, dude? Yeah, did you? I mean, like

(33:12):
like Patino, I didn't. I couldn't quite understand how he
didn't realize that when he went from that's the loudest
hitchy truck ever, when he went from Kentucky Boston and
then came back to Louisville. How did he not think
that Kentucky fans were not going to welcome him back
to Rupperina. Yeah, some of these guys seem like they're
just oblivious to how big this robber is.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
Yeah, Amen, Evince, he had to know what he got
himself into when you took that job over there A.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
Five nine, two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. We're
gonna take one more break. We'll be ready back with
our final segment. Will take more phone calls coming up next.
We are live in malt Garnon. It is the KSR
pre Show. All right, welcome back, final segment of the
KSR pre Show. We're live in Mount Vernon for the
Hunger Walk broadcasting here on Main Street right in front
of the Community Trust Bank, walker's volunteers, neighbors have all

(33:59):
come to go to fight, fight hunger and feed hope.
The walk starts at ten o'clock and there's three other
ones going on as well. So you got rock Castle, Johnson,
McCrary and Fayette Counties all have the Hunger walks today today.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
So this is the big one, like we said earlier,
like well, they said, uh, three thousand, how many hel
many walkers?

Speaker 1 (34:18):
Thirty eight hundred, thirteen hundred, ten hundred. There you go,
thirteen hundred.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
Walkers getting ready to walk down Main Street here right
behind us during our show during KSR coming up.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
And you can go to christianapp dot org slash Hunger
Walk if you want to help, donate and you can
do it right now.

Speaker 2 (34:31):
You can still help even though you're not here right
and they need they need the help.

Speaker 1 (34:34):
Eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven.
We'll go back to the phones in just a minute.
But I thought of you. Did you see that Kentucky
High school basketball is adding a shot clock? Yes, finally,
long overdue. I don't know how other states, you know,
high schools if they have the shot clocker, don't have
the shot clock. But it feels like that's something that
we should have had a long time ago. But I
know that the funding for it has been the problem,

(34:57):
you know, having the money to be able to buy
these shot clocks. I think I read that there was
a package where you can get one for just under
three thousand dollars, which you got to keep in mind
for a lot of high schools, that's still a lot
of money, and you're still gonna have somebody to operate
those shot clocks. Yeah, but I know that you're big about,
big into high school sports, and I'm sure you'd like
to see that news that there's a shot clock coming
for Kentucky high school basketball. You know, the game needs

(35:19):
to evolve.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
You know, all the college games evolving, the NBA games evolving,
the high school game needs to evolve in Kentucky. You know,
you're right, a lot of these schools don't have the
funding for one set of equipment. Well, a lot of
these schools have two gyms, so you gonna have to
buy two sets of equipment, and you got two games
going on, you do have to find two people to
operate it. So there's a lot of the distics going
to it. But what I thought was interesting about this,

(35:41):
they did a survey of all the athletic directors I
guess in the KHSAA system, right sixty percent said they
didn't want it.

Speaker 1 (35:49):
KHSA said, we want, We're going to put it in anyway,
So they just why did they do a vote. I
don't know what's the point of doing a vote if
you're just gonna do what you want anyway.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
I think it's the right move though, really, I mean,
like I said, the game's evolved enough where I think
it'll help the game, make it more exciting, trying to
get more people in.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
Yeah, so I think it's the right move. But I
thought it was interesting that sixty percent of that laterator
said no, remember I was. We looked up. I feel
like we've had this conversation like in years past on KSR.
We looked at how much shot clocks are, yes, and
I couldn't believe like how expensive a shot clock is.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
Yeah, so, like I said, in a lot of school's
got to buy two sets. You've got an auxiliary gym
where maybe you're gonna play a JV game and a
Refreshman game.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
You got to have the shot clock there. Also the
other thing I know that having kids, you've you've hosted
a lot of people at your house over the years.
Do you like this new trend that's going on. I
believe it's with the equipment managers who are posting pictures
on social media after the visiting team leaves their locker
room to show you what condition that they're leaving the

(36:49):
locker room in. So if it's you know, spotless, they
post that on social media and say, you know, thank
you Virginia Tech for being you know, so gracious coming
in and leaving our locker room just as you found it.
And I haven't seen anybody that's like done the opposite,
like posted videos or pictures of a really messy locker room.
It's coming, but there's a few though. Yeah, it's coming,

(37:11):
I guarantee. If you're wondering, like, like, which schools out
there are very tidy? Apparently Texas A and M football. Yeah,
there you go. You can see this picture. You can
see this on social that's after a games. After a game. Wow, Yeah,
Texas A and m uh just beat Notre Dame on
the road, but left the locker room spotless and a
you know, tight game too. They had to be emotional
about that. And the Virginia Tech Yeah hosted Vandy Fandy

(37:34):
left it spotless. Then you had u mass come into
Iowa left the place spotless. So I feel like, you know,
that's something that OVW does really well. OVW, they they
make sure they preach to these guys, make sure you
leave the place spotless when you when you leave, like
leave it as nice as it was when you found it.
And uh, that's that's kind of cool that they're they're
posting this. You can see which teams out there are

(37:56):
are tidy and which they're leaving and leaving it trash
like they're like a rock star hotel room.

Speaker 2 (38:01):
I know there's some of the high school coaches that
have been doing this for years. You know, we're gonna
leave the locker room the way we found it and
make the players clean up after themselves, you know, pick
up the tape and the jockstraps, whatever is on the floor,
and clean the place up a little bit.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
I would imagine you know, having kids and you know
their friends coming over, you had to do a lot
of clean up at your house. I doubt they left
it the spotless of some of these college football teams.
I'll tell you it's quick story. Yeah, one day I
go downstairs.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Beside's got about five of these buddies there and they're
watching games and so and there is like they've had
a gatorade fight, where there's gatorade on the floor, garade.

Speaker 1 (38:32):
Bottles all over the place.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
I went upstairs, got the mop, the bucket, came downstairs,
threw it on the floor.

Speaker 1 (38:39):
I said, clean it all up, every bit of it.
I'm not the whole floor. Had to use my angry voice. Yeah,
I don't see that angry voice. It scared him. That's
the same voice I used for Lee K. Howard when
he was on KSR years ago. I love that story.
Memory of that, By the way, I kind of remember that.
I have no memory of that story told on KSR

(39:01):
yesterday about me yelling at.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Him because the Dave Baker was not there and you've
tried to yell at leak. Hey, you gotta start the show,
Go go go go. Yeah, I have no memory whatsoever.
Text was text with Dave Baker yesterday. He doesn't remember
that incident either. So we're all getting this too, old man.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
I guess so eight five nine two, twenty two eighty seven.
Who's up next? Liam Tristan and Lexington? Hey Tristan, what's
going on?

Speaker 4 (39:23):
Can learn?

Speaker 1 (39:23):
Gentlemen.

Speaker 5 (39:24):
So yesterday, Shannon, you said that you're not a big
fan of the Cookie Monster bands, and you know that's cool.
People like what they like. But I wanted to give
you one recommendation for each day of Louder than Life
or bands to go check out?

Speaker 1 (39:35):
Is that? Okay, okay, go ahead, all right?

Speaker 5 (39:38):
So tonight at eight thirty it's Daring the rob Zombie Concert,
so you're probably not going to go, but I strongly
recommend you do. Or My Guy's Worn Asure. These guys
are very melodic, very emotional, very passionate band, so I
strong record check them out. Tomorrow is Our Guy's White
Chapel at six o'clock at the Loudmouth Stage. They're the
probably the heaviest band. I'm going to recommend the most

(40:00):
brutal band, but it's definitely also worth checking out. On Saturday,
right before your favorite band of Stone. Temple Pilots is
my favorite band of August Burns Red. They play at
four thirty at the Decimal Stage. The band those, Yeah,
those are the guys that I strongly recommend you go
check out of all four of these, and then on Sunday,
the last one I'm going to recommend is Slaughter to Prevail.

(40:20):
They play at three fifty five on the main one stage.
So if you like Lint and Biscuit, if you like Slipknot,
Slaughter to Prevail is the next step in that progression
of that new metal kind of rat metal, heavy kind
of thing.

Speaker 1 (40:33):
So they're the gay Yeah, yeah, thanks for the recommendations,
and come on by and see us. We're gonna be
out there. We've got a giant boombox, like fifteen foot
tall boombox out there, and we're broadcasting on top of that,
so come by and say hello to me.

Speaker 5 (40:48):
Yeah. One last thing, so about the about the way
that people operate in a mosh pit. There is a
great song by a band called I Set My Friends
on Fire, called a hardcore two step that.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Wow said, is kind of scared me a little bit.
You okay, all right, thanks for the college friend.

Speaker 2 (41:06):
I Set my Friends on Fire. Wow, the Slaughter to Prevail,
it kind of scared me a little bit.

Speaker 1 (41:11):
Yeah, that's that's some heavy stuff. That's a little that's
a little too heavy. For me. That's well, you said
it's kind of metal heavy this year. Yeah, So thanks
for the coltist and hope to see you out there
all right. Eight five nine two twenty two, eighte to
seven call that number for KSR coming up next. That
is it for the pre show KSRS. The promo code
on DraftKings if you're a new customer bet five get
two hundred dollars and bonus bets and two one hundred
dollars off NFL Sunday ticket with promo code KSR. That

(41:34):
is it for the pre show KSRS. Up next, we're
live and Mount Vernon will talk to you. Interview

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
