Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome everyone. It is the KSR Pre Show. We are
live at Don Franklin Nissan Lexington Road or I'm sorry,
Richmond Road. Here in Lexington. You can give us a
call the Clark's Puppings Shop Pall line eight five nine
two eight oh twenty two eighty seven texalln is five
o two two sixty five six six five six. You're
a whiskey thief. Call at the day and the KSR
Pre Show is always being brought to you by Italics
(00:22):
fine Italian dinning in Lexington. Shannon the dude, Billy Rutledge,
Good morning, Billy, how are you man?
Speaker 2 (00:27):
I'm doing great, Shannon. And I passed by this place
all the time. The golf range that I go too
often is right here on Richmond Road, so I'm always
passing this location. And we got some nice vehicles in here.
Look at that big old truck, Shan You would you
ever be a truck driver?
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Or you a jeep guy? I'm a jeep guy. I
was just thinking on the way here all of the
cars that I've owned over the years. Do you remember
all the cars that you've owned?
Speaker 2 (00:46):
I do, Yeah, it's not a long list. Go ahead,
you go first, So I had a ninety nine Honda Civic.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Then I had a twenty twelve Honda Civic, and then
I have a twenty fourteen Dolls Charger. And that's the list, Shannon.
I'm pretty good with my cars, besides the one that
got to on the Interstate in the rain. But you
know what we moved on to the Dodge.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Mine was an eighty eight Chevy Cavalier, which blew up
on my way back from Lindsay Wilson my freshman year
of college. Did that thing have AC yeah? Okay, yeah,
but fining the odds, the catlic converter went out and
like stuff started blowing through the events when you would
turn on the air conditioning, like this foamy stuff would
blow through. I don't know what that was all about,
but the thing blew up on the way back somewhere
(01:24):
in Campbellsville. Oh, that's part of it. That's your first car,
right back in two thousand and one. So then I
went out and got a ninety I think it was
a ninety four Pontiac Sunfire. Had that car for a while.
Then I think I had a ninety nine Chevy Malibu
Sunroof and everything right that was cool. Then I went
into the Jeep world. I got the Jeep Liberty and
(01:45):
then Jeep Wrangler.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Okay, so you've done double Jeep at this point. Oh yeah,
just a one time occurrence.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Yeah, kind of a Jeep guy. But you know what, Like,
they've got some really cool cars here that I could
see myself driving. Yeah, any that you want to maybe
take home you think later? Today, we got all kinds
of great deals I can tell you about right here. Yeah,
tell me about it. Well, we got the twenty twenty
five Nissan Pathfinder S. It's on sale for only twenty nine,
nine hundred and sixty one dollars.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
That's not a bad price when you're trying to buy
a car nowadays, especially a twenty twenty five car. The
fiance is the one that needs a new vehicle, Shannon,
so maybe we bring her in here, do a little
shopping here.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
But pre Christmas, yep, you can get that deal and
up to seven thousand dollars off MSRP on the new
twenty twenty five Nissan Frontier models. I seem to always
drive Nissans when I go on like road trips for
like vacation or whatever it might be. I always get
hooked up with the Nissan because I, you know, I've
got vacation coming up next week, so I won't be here.
But I had to rent a car. And you know,
(02:37):
when you go to rent a car, you can get
like the big size, medium sized, or the compact. Then
there's an option on there that says dealer's choice. So
I just went with that, Like, do you know what
surprised me? I really don't care what I get. So
it's worked out well for me in the past because
I basically paid the price for a compact car and
(02:57):
ended up with like a Gladiator. So you know, it's
you may end up with like a something cool like
a Jeep or something that's a bigger size, or you
may end up with like a peewee Herman car. You know,
you don't know what you're gonna get. So I'm just
rolling the dice and we'll see what happens.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah, well you get a Nissan. When you get a
rental car, I think you're you're happy with it. You
make sure you fill up the gas tank before you
return it, or they are going, oh, how you they'll
get you with the gas that's coming back. I most
recently rented a car in Boston driving around up there.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Talk about stressful traffic, Shannon.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
I mean, if you think traffic's bad in Lexington or
in downtown Louisville, go to a major city like that.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
I mean, it's just doesn't even compare. So we got,
of course, a couple of big games coming up this weekend.
If I were to ask everybody, what are you more
excited about? I think I already know the answer to this.
But you can tweet us at Billy R Sports ask
Shannon and the dude, are you more excited about Kentucky
Tennessee football tomorrow or Kentucky Purdue basketball tonight? I think
(03:51):
the overwhelmingly response would be for Kentucky basketball versus Purdue tonight. Yeah,
it's no.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Question it's going to be a basketball game that doesn't count,
is going to be more important than one of the
most oldest rivalries in the SEC.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
And that's just the state of UK football right now.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
And that's how excited I think we are for Mark
Pope's second year and some of these guys that are
coming into the program. Marks already said this is a
great moment for them to collect some data.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
That's right, collecting data that's right.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
But you know, how much credence do you put into
this game? It doesn't count. It's off the number one
team in the country.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Though. Do you think it's a good test for Kentucky.
It's great. I love that they're doing this. I think,
you know, as far as what you should expect atmosphere wise,
I think it's going to feel like it is a
you know, big non conference regular season game. I think
that the the the stands are going to be packed
to the rafters. I saw that there was like tickets
on like stub Hub for like seven hundred bucks for
(04:44):
an exhibition basketball game. Nd, like, is anybody actually going
to pay that kind of money for an exhibition basketball game?
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Well?
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Look, I mean these games are give an opportunity to
the fan that doesn't have the season tickets to be
able to see Kentucky at Rupp Arena. So hopefully you
get maybe a different crowd that you know do today.
But I mean this is exciting him. You have this
game and then coming up next week, you got a
game on Thursday, and then the season will be here.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
So no Jayden Quainton's, no Jalen Lowe tonight, so you're
gonna be playing without two of your you know, probably
top three best players that you got. So with that
being said, I mean, if we lose the game, no
big deal, right, But if we win the game without
those two guys, we're already talking national championship. Is that
what we're doing? If we beat the number one team
(05:27):
with those two of our best players, well that's the thing,
like you got, you got a little bit of a fallback. Now,
if we had a full roster, full strength, I think
that would be a different conversation. But when you're playing
without those two guys, if you're able to beat the
number one team, and I don't care if it is
in October, it's a it's a rupp aerina, it's going
to feel like a like said, a regular season game.
So I think if if we win tonight, our fans
(05:48):
are going to overreact.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Yeah, one hundred percent. It's it sounds like it's a
win win for Kentucky.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
It is, it really is.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
But I do like the rule the NCAA changed that
you can play Division One opponents now in these exhibition games.
It gives a teams a good test before the season starts.
So I think you'd be foolish not to do something
like this, and I'm sure Mark Pope will have a
major team for the exhibition games at least one.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Moving forward, you think we're gonna see thirty three point attempts.
Mark Pope has been adamant about that. He talked about
that last season. They didn't quite get there. They average
think around like twenty five, but I think a lot
of threes. Tonight, it was.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Travis Perry doing a little funky rooster talking with us
on the pre show. I believe told me that he
was they were going to try to get to thirty
five threes a game, and it never really got to that.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Mark.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
I mean, we could get close, but you know, I
think there's a part of it that that's not gonna
be like their normal offense. You know, you talk about
not showing all your cards in the first few games
of football for your opponents. I think it's gonna be
a little bit of a watered down product.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
That we see today.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
But it's gonna be a good test for these guys
to what do the coaches say, play somebody else other
than themselves.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
But let's play to win. Though, right, I don't think
Mark Pope is going to You think he's gonna hold back.
I don't think he's going to hold back that much.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
I think the exhibition games you will not see everything
that they.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
He may go deeper into the roster than he would
if it were a regular season game. I mean, I expect,
you know, most of the guys on the roster to
get some playing time tonight. But I mean, if it's
tie game six seven minutes to go, I mean you're
playing to win. I don't know. Yeah, I don't think
you're trying to work in, you know, guys off the
bench just to get them more, you know, more time
on the floor. Yeah, I would disagree. I mean at
least at first.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
I mean, you're gonna have a different rotation than what
you would do on the road in the SEC. But look,
two minutes left, it's a what three point game? These
guys are going to be competitive and they're going to
play as hard as they can, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
So three players for Kentucky. You're in the ESPN top
one hundred. Have you seen this?
Speaker 3 (07:33):
No?
Speaker 1 (07:33):
I haven't. You should be able to go the Jadane
quaintance Jaden Acquaintance is twenty eighth. Okay, Cam Williams, Nope, No,
the guy who is a first round projected lottery or
not lottery pick, but a first round pick in the NBA.
Not in the top one. Well we'll go otego away.
Then Yep number twelve, and then Jalen Low number forty two.
There you go, there you go.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
As you're three in the top one hundred. Now, what
player do you think could be in the top one hundred?
I play themselves into the top one hundred this year
if you were to do these mid season rankings, do
you think.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
I mean, players in that list, if you believe that
Cam Williams is actually a first round talent in the
NBA that I don't know why he wouldn't be in
the top one hundred. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Yeah, I mean, I don't know what we're gonna see
out of Yeleovich tonight or this season, but how quickly
he acclimates to the to the game will be important
as well.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
It's just last year, it felt like they just cobbled
the roster together last minute, right, I mean kind of well,
he was kind of he kind of had to.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
I mean it was kind of that situation.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Despite you know, driving stick in South America or going
to pick up Andrew Carr's family in Bowling Green this
you know this year that he was able to have
the all the guys that he wanted right enough time
to recruit, and so I think there's a lot of
excitement for the talent that's in the building this year.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
If you had to guess, are you gonna say Kentucky
goes above or below ninety points tonight? Because you know
last year they were just yeah, moving the ball, scoring quickly.
I think back to that Florida game where it was
like one O four to one O two or something
like that, and that was the final. Do you think
we'll get that hype of game or do you think
it'll be more lockdown defensively?
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Yeah, I think it'll probably be trying to find their
shots a little bit more, get into the game. Speed
action probably a little under that. But can Kentucky's average
close to ninety? Again, I don't know what they were
last year, but there was a lot of games where
it felt like they were hitting ninety to one hundred.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Yeah. Well, again, I think that's just their quality or
their style of play. And again, I think it comes
down to how many three point attempts they take. If
you're knocking down fifteen threes a night. You know that's
gonna be a tough team to beat.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Well the hollerballer, is that what some are calling Trent
Noah as somebody that is they've called the best shooter
on the team all off season.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Yeah, so high expectations for him this year. So now
on the football side of things, how are we feeling?
How are we feeling about this game Kentucky Tennessee tomorrow night.
Josh Hipel, I think I heard on the Leech Report
has been averaging thirty seven points per game against Kentucky
over the years. Yeah, that doesn't make me feel good.
I mean again, we feel like we're beating a dead
(09:54):
horse when we say this. But if Kentucky's going to
win the game, it's probably got to be you know,
somewhere around twenty seventeen or seventeen thirteen, seventeen fourteen, one
of those types of games. I just don't see that game,
that scenario playing it out against Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Yeah, Tennessee averaging over thirty points a game and take
Kentucky a few games to add up to thirty points.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
It's just been that kind of year, no, no doubt. Well,
I mean you add them up. Yeah, thirteen fourteen thirteen, Right,
that's not the least. They just can't score more than
two touchdowns in a game. And that's just hard to
keep up with a team like Tennessee who can play
up tempo. It's just a mismatch in styles of play.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Like, are there gonna be some good showing I think
from Brad White and this defense. Sure, I mean they've
shown that they can battle back from adversity.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
I just don't have a lot of faith in this
offense right now. I mean is that wrong?
Speaker 4 (10:37):
No?
Speaker 1 (10:38):
Because what have they shown us to give you any faith? Yea,
that they're gonna be able to score outside the teams
And it's tart again, it's Kentucky. It feels like it's
sort of the the Iowa SEC. They got to grind
it out, ground and found if they're going to win,
it's going to be ugly low scoring games. And you know,
to build a whole Tennessee to that few points is
(11:00):
gonna be a really.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Well Look, I mean nine straight SEC losses. I mean eventually,
Mark Stoops is seeing the writing on the wall and
I think understands the situation that he's in.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Now. It's got to change.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
I mean, you've got to win games at home, and
as the schedule sets up, there's not many games left,
so Kentucky better start doing it soon.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
You're starting to see. I think Mark Stoops has a
self awareness. He knows what you know. We always heard
Cali Parry say he doesn't listen to the clutter. Yeah,
but we always knew that he did, right. It was
just I feel like his defense mechanism to say, oh,
I don't listen to the clutter, but somehow he always
found out what KSR said though he doesn't listen.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Well, yeah, they're gonna say that, but they're listening. Do
you think these conversations are starting to take place between
boosters about buy out money things like that.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
I mean possibly, I mean I think that there is
definitely conversations behind the scenes that it is a real
possibility that Stoops isn't going to be here next year.
But again, if you pull out one of these wins,
if you somehow pull off a win tomorrow against Tennessee,
that sort of changes a little bit of the narrative.
I mean, now, again, they've still got to get to
I think five wins this year, which you know, if
(12:04):
they were to beat Tennessee doesn't mean that you're still
going to beat Louisville or Vandy or Florida or Auburn,
whoever it may be. Tech Tennessee Tech, I think they
can get them. I'm counting that as a win. But yeah,
I mean, you know, if you win tomorrow, though, it
definitely is a step in the right direction. But I
don't know that it's going to necessarily fix the problem
if you don't finish you know, at least five and seven.
(12:26):
I don't think six and six is really much of
a possibility right now.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Yeah, there's just there's a ton of question marks, right
and in a very busy coaching carousel, is it advantageous
to let go of your coach before the season ends
and to get a hud start on that process? You know,
that's going to be all up to Mitch and really
the agreement they can get Mark Stoops to get down
to on his buyout, because they're not going to pay
him the thirty eight million, right, They're going to try
to get it somewhere in the middle, maybe closer to
twenty five.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Kentucky just an eight and a half point dog on DraftKings.
That surprises me. Like I would have thought it would
have been much higher than that. You're gonna hammer Tennessee
to win?
Speaker 3 (12:58):
What?
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Yeah? Again, Like we just talked about Hypool averaging thirty
seven points against Kentucky over the years. Kentucky adding up
can barely get past fourteen, you know, So it feels
like that's a really small margin on DraftKings may maybe
hammer that.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
I don't know, well, you know, even if Kentucky does
lose by two touchdowns, maybe Cutter Bowley continues to look good.
I think he looked pretty good in the last game
versus Texas, especially at times. So I mean, if that's
the future and you see continue to see progression from him,
maybe the diehard Kentucky fans can find something to be
happy about.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Eight Bob Don two ah twenty two eighty seven. We
are alive at Don Franklin Nissan out here on Richmond Road.
Come on by and see us. We're gonna be here
till noon. I think we got some uh heard, we

So come on out here and join us. It is
the KSR pre Show. We'll be right back. Welcome back.
It is the KOSR pre show Don Franklin Nissan on
Richmond Road. If it's the fourth quarter, you need options.
(13:49):
Twenty seven stores, over six thousand vehicles across the Bluegrass trucks,
SUVs and Sedans only at Don Franklinado. Ready when you
are a five nine two oh twenty two eighty seven.
That is our number on the Clark's Pumping Shot phone line,
Billy Tonight World Series starts. Yeah, you wanna make a
prediction on what's gonna happen Dodgers, Blue Jays, America versus Canada.
(14:10):
Who do you get?
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Normally I'd root for the underdog here, but I gotta
go America. I gotta go Dodgers. Shohyo Tani's amazing playoff
performance will be topped off with a World Series championship.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
What about you? What do you think Team America? Let's
go Dodgers. I think Dodger. I think it's gonna be
a really good series.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
Though we are Team America and we're highlighting a Japanese
born player.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
That's okay, right, We're all good. I'm gonna say Dodgers in.
I think it's gonna go all seven, all seven. I
think it's gonna go seven.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
There's nothing like that tension you get into seven. I'm
gonna go Dodgers in six.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
All right. You can bet it on Draftking sports Book
and the NBA. There's a lot about the NBA and
and betting in the news. We'll talk about that a
little bit here in just a minute, but all your
favorite NBA stars are back. Draftking Sportsbook and official sports
betting partner of the NBA is the place to bet
on NBA stars this season with more markets open for
more the game. DraftKings is the number one sports book
(15:02):
for live betting in UH markets when others aren't live,
and you can do it with promo code KSR. If
you bet five dollars your bet hits, you're gonna get
three hundred dollars in bonus bets plus three months of
NBA League Pass. You can do all the same game parlays,
player props. It's all there for you at Draft Kings Sportsbook.
The crown is yours. If you have a gambling problem,
call Way hundred Gambler eighteen plus Kentucky only. Eligibility restrictions applied.
(15:25):
Betting us win to receive bonus bets, which expire in
seven days. Been the odds required, NBA League Pass auto
renews until canceled. Additional terms at DKNG dot co slash
audio limited time offer. Did you see that the SEC
has suspended the referee that did not give Kirby Smart
the timeout that he was calling. You remember that last week?
(15:47):
That was the what he was clapping? Yeah, and then
he goes, no, I was I was just clapping.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
It wasn't calling it. There was a referee that allowed
that to stand. They didn't charge Georgia with the timeout.
Basically just said okay, we'll just start the play over
and have a redo. There was another I think it
was a fumble in the game. There's a controversial call
as well. So the SEC has suspended referee Ken Williamson.
I think that maybe we need to see more of
this because there are some egregious calls, and in a
(16:15):
world that we live in where we have instant replay
for everything to be able to make those terrible calls,
I'm for it. Suspend the guy. No, I'm with you.
I think refs need to be held more accountable.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
You know, we asked these players and coaches right after
the game's over their thoughts, why can't we do it?
With referees. Why can't they have their own press conference? Now,
I know why people don't want to be a referee
out there.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
I get it.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
But at the same time, we need to held the
ones at the biggest are to a higher standard when
they're playing in the NFL or some of these bigger leagues.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
Wild day yesterday in the NBA, let's just go ahead
and jump into it talking about the gambling thing that
was going to the gambling scandal, there were thirty total
arrests in the NBA. Of course, the names that everybody's
talking about, Chauncey billups Terry Rose. When you go back
and you look at the coppilation video that's out there
on Twitter of Terry Rogier and some of like it
(17:07):
looks so obvious, Like, dude, at least make it look
like they're trying to make the shot. You know, he
would just go up for a wide open layup and
just throw it off the backboard. Yeah. The point shaving
that he was doing was egregious. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
And then Chauncey billups Man some of the details of
the poker stuff.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
That he was doing. Yeah, that is amazing. So I
didn't even know this technology existed. Apparently he had some
sort of X ray device that he put underneath the
table so it could read the cards that were faced down,
and then he had contact lenses that could see through
the cards.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
The Mars marks on the card, so you can tell
which card was which. And this was him being involved
with like four mafia families. Like, this is the FBI
coming out and talking about Chauncey Billups, the head coach
of the Portland Trailblazers, and four mafia families. I mean,
and some of the reporting that Brian Wenthorst did yes
(17:59):
late yesterday afternoon saying that the NBA knew about Terry
Rogier point shaving and just had him sit out instead
of actually reprimanding him. Yeah, I mean, this is a
very bad look for the NBA. But I do want
to make a point here because legal sports betting is
a big reason why this was caught. You know, people
you know, maybe mock that we sponsor DraftKings and then
(18:21):
talk about this in the same segment. No, it's things
like DraftKings that are able to find these things and
flag it when there's unusual gambling things.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
Like like when you're a De Niro Laster former Kentucky
football player and you put a huge stake on a
guy's under ends up winning one hundred thousand dollars. But yeah,
there are like bots that go through and they're gonna
flag anything that looks suspicious. Like if you got, you know,
Terry Rogier.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Two hundred thousand bat dollars on MAT's coming in Rogier
under under.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
And he goes out in the first five minutes with
an injury, They're going to look into that. That's the
crazy thing about it for me, is that these guys
in their mind believe that they're going to get away
with something like that. Like if you're going to bet
and make some money and you're gonna cheat doing it,
I mean, shouldn't you at least make it not so obvious,
not put like all your life savings on one bet.
(19:11):
Maybe maybe do like a thirty dollar bet, you know, Yeah,
but two and fifty nine thousand dollars on one bet
it looks suspicious and they're going to find out. And
it's not that much of a payday.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
I mean, Rosier bringing in what two hundred thousand or
something like that for that one time that he did it,
Like he's worked his entire life to make millions of dollars.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
In the NBA.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
And and like you said, you don't think people are
gonna see that or catch that with how.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Many money is I'm just trying to, like you know,
with cell phones. The psychology, the psychology of that, I
think has got to be just the thrill of betting.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Well, it's more like conning a lot of people out
of their hard earned money, right, It's just it's not right.
But at the same time, this comes on the heels
of I believe professional sports allowing athletes to bet on
other sports that the ones that aren't they aren't in.
So I mean, it's gonna be a slippery slope.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
If I'm nine two eight zero twenty two eighty seven,
who do we have at first? Limb? Jay? Hey Jay,
what's going on?
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Of course I'm Billy. I'm still Team No. Peter the Dog.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
Unfortunately I had to see it on on Thursday Night Football.
But a couple of quick things. You know, I was
called in a couple of weeks back. I love people
when people troll people, And you know, the when Vanderbilt
trolled LSU this past weekend. At the end of the
game they played Colin Baton rouge that was awesome.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
But also did the Goat Tigers on their Twitter account,
but they spelled it the way that LSU spills go
like gee.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
But the thing that I will call in this is
gonna be a crazy fact is that if, and unfortunately
probably when Tennessee beats Kentucky tomorrow, then Tennessee will have
more SEC wins in Commonwealth Stadium since twenty twenty one
than Kentucky.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
Wow. You know what, I don't even think I need
to fact check that. I'm sure that is true. I'm
sure that is a definitely factual as a Corey Price
stat if I've ever heard one, that is shocking. And
the fans deserve better than that, you know, yeah, absolutely,
I mean that's part of the discontent here. Anything else, Jay.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
No, y'all have a great show. And enjoy listening to
y'all every day. Appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
And to that point, I mean, the fans showed up
last week, you know, they were loud. I felt like
they were into the game. What do you think about tomorrow?
Do you think we're gonna have I mean, hopefully no
more orange than blue in the stands. I don't think
they're gonna like completely take over, but I know there's
going to be a lot of that nasty Tennessee orange
in there.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Yeah, it'll be an easy ticket to sell, right with
everybody on the border wanting to come into Kroger Field.
But look, this is also a game's historic rivalry, and
I'm sure Kentucky fans are going to show out because
You're right, they have a still and I'm sure they
continue will to do so and until this thing gets
really ugly.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
We are live at Don Franklin Nissan here on Richmond Road.
You could come on out and get yourself a new
ride seven thousand dollars off MSRP of the new twenty
twenty five Nissan Frontier models and more. We're here till
noon for KSR. Until that is the KSR pre Show.
We'll be all right back, Welcome back. It is the
KSR pre Show. We're live at Don Franklin and Nissan
(22:28):
and Lex And didn't share him the dude, Billy Rutledge. Billy,
you were just telling me during the break that our
first KSR pre show remote was actually at a Don Franklin.
I believe it was at Summerset and we did the
push up challenge. You versus me push ups. You you
had your billy confidence going on. I think maybe you
had a couple of Mimoses in you when you made
that challenge for the push up contest. But you want
(22:49):
to tell everybody what happened? Just just slow walk down
memory lane. You want to remind every lesson this guy.
You talk about something during the break. Oh yeah, let's
bring that up on the air. Yeah, I'd love to
talk about that again. Well, you were telling everybody here.
I thought we would share with everybody who's not Yeah, yeah, great.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
I was not, you know, drunk on Mimosa's before we
did the push up s contest or the show.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
I'm more responsible than that, dude.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
But it was our very first remote, so I was
a little nervous. And then Channing the dude challenges me
to a push up contest mid show. You better believe
I'm gonna do it.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
I thought the push up challenge was like a couple
of days before. No, no, it was.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
It was like it was our first remote on the spot,
on the spot, and then I mean my adrenaline was going, folks. Yeah,
I mean, you do a show in front of a
crowd for the first time, and your adrenaline will go
and I knocked out forty and I was pretty damn
proud of forty. I didn't think you were going to
get forty. Then you did sixty.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I don't
think I've ever done sixty in my life and never Yeah,
I don't think I've done it since then. Yeah, but
I was not going to lose to you and a
push I think that's what it was, because if you'd
have done sixty, I would have done sixty one. Yeah,
I bet. But then we talked.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
We were talking about Ryan Lemon doing one handed push
ups the other day at forty six Solutions.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
That was impressive. Ryan is deceptibly deceptively strong. He's like
he's got old band strength. You look at Ryan, you
would think that guy, he's hobbling around, he can barely
even walk in the door. And then he comes in
here and does one arm push ups. What do you
call that? Country strength? Old man street, old man strength.
And you're also telling you that over the weekend you're
gonna be at the studio for twenty one hours between
(24:15):
running Kentucky Perdue tonight he produce that game. Yep. Then
you got to produce Kentucky and Tennessee tomorrow. You said
you're bringing in a putting green so you can have
a little bit of Hey, now you're telling my secrets
on the air. Well you keep what's wrong with putting green? No,
it's fine.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
I've got a little putting green if I put into
the corner of the studio. So like while we're running
a commercial break, if.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
The team a little putting in, if the sales team
could have Plinko, you can have a putting green. I'm
just saying it's okay, but I do if you're in there,
I do want you to peek out the window and
see if you can get us an update on what's
going on across the road. Oh yeah, that rooftop with
those those two over there doing kung fu on the roof.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Yeah, wrestling and the pool up there. Yeah, next time
we see them on the roof. I have told people
to text me and I will go over there and
try to interview those people.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
A Bay Packers fan, I love this. Aaron Rodgers announced
that when he retires, he's going to retire a green
Bay Packer. Oh so that's kind of cool. So he's
in good graces again. No, no, no, I mean I
won't want to kick his when they play each other
this weekend. But you know, he was here for eighteen years.
I feel like he was a big part of the
reason that Green Bay had success. He won a Super
(25:20):
Bowl here, So I'm still going to, you know, appreciate
what he did as a packer. Yeah, and I did
a little. I think he's a snothead like it in
probably his personal life. But again, like I don't really
care what what what he's like in his personal life.
I just you know, like him as as a Green
Bay packer and what he did for the packers. Yeah,
we see that often.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Guys sign one day contracts, right, and then we'll retire
with the team that they've played with a lot. Uh,
did you like Brett Farmore or Aaron Rodgers? That Brett
Farr was far and away my favorite.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
But then again, you look back again talking about a
guy's personal life in that Mississippi scandal that was going on,
Like don't don't meet your heroes New York Jet. You know,
you start digging in, you start thinking about your favorite athletes,
and you start digging into like what they're up to
when they're not on the Field.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
Well, yeah, chousy Billups used to look up to him, man,
I mean, who could forget his pistons team?
Speaker 1 (26:07):
And he's just conning people out of millions of dollars. Yep,
all right, Billy Oh I saw this story this morning.
I wanted to ask you. When you go to the
grocery store, are you one of these people that goes
to the self scanner? Yep? Yeah, okay, Well, up in
Massachusetts they are trying to bring back cashiers. They're saying
that people are getting frustrated with going through the self scanner.
(26:27):
A lot of times there are errors and you put down,
you know, your drink on the side and it says
please remove that item, and then yeah, and then, like
I was talking about, when you go to Kroger, if
you do something wrong or they think that you're doing
something wrong, they show an instant replay of what they
think is you stealing it almost like guilts you into
like what did I do wrong? You know? Hold you up.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
There's a light that starts and everybody knows that you're
trying to get away with theft.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
So do you like the idea of going back old school.
Let's hire some people in let's do it the way
that we did before. Let's bring in an actual human
being to be your cashier instead of you having to
do it yourself. I do.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
I mean, I like the small talk between the person
that's checking me out or the bags that's that's gone away.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
See, I don't want them commenting on what I'm getting though.
That's where I draw the line. Like if the cashier
is like, oh, looks like you're gonna have a fun
night tonight. You got whipp cream and strawberries, huh, Like
I don't want I don't want those comments. See those right,
there are the reasons I go through the self scanner
to avoid that awkward conversation. But if the cashier keeps
to themselves, I'm fine. I support them because I support jobs.
(27:26):
I don't like that people lost jobs that were cashiers
because we replaced them, yeah, with self scanners. So I
like the idea and theory of bringing it back. But
it's interesting. Usually technology, when it advances to a certain point,
there's no going back. But in this case, in that state,
they're they're talking about going back to hiring cashiers. Noll.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
Look even if they're commenting on my whipped cream and strawberries.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Or whatever.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
I do like the small tech. I like the human interaction,
that there is something to it. After years of doing
the self scanner, I'm over it. I'm tired of having
to weigh my vegetables and type out the name of
the vegetable that I'm buying.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
I feel like I should get like an employee discount
because I feel like I work there, Like I'm doing
all the work. I'm bagging the groceries, I'm ringing them up.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
You know.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Yeah. And the other thought about this is too if
you think about, like all the money that they spend
on buying the self scanners, buying cameras, you know, and
then people of course will inevitably they're gonna shoplift regardless,
they'll find a way around it. I would think that
all the money that you've invested into self scanners, then
(28:28):
people just blatantly stealing from you all that money. If
you would just take that and actually put it into
if salaries for cashiers, you would probably lose less money.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Well, you'd have more John Shorts of the world still bagging, right,
and then but you know, there's the unintentional theft doing
those self scanners. But there's also people that bring their
own barcode or use a different bar code and scan
at the same time when they bring a big item
through and and and you know a lot of places
they'll have to check your receipt nowadays that something like
that's happened so often, So I don't know.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
I guess I am for bringing back the human beings.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Shannon as somebody that doesn't want to talk to somebody,
I think you're just gonna stay at the self checkout.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Again, it depends on what it is. If it's like
just regular groceries, I think I would go through with
the cashier. If it's something that you know, maybe could
be commented on by the cashier, I think I'll just
go to this.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Nowadays, there's two lanes open and everybody forgets about them.
So if you do go down there, I mean you
only got one person in front of you most times,
and everybody else.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Is backed up. Yeah, one person right, say it says
UK has won one hundred and seven games at Commonwealth
Stadium slash Kroger Field since it opened in nineteen seventy three.
Tennessee has won twenty three times at Kroger Field. Wow. Yeah,
that is a lot of wins. For Tennessee. I'm just saying,
compared to Kentucky, you talk about home field advantage, it
doesn't feel like you got that. When when the Tennessee
(29:42):
comes to down just because they're so good and their
their fans travel, well, well.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
You know it's time to make a home field advantage.
Shannon and I had somebody on the text line send
me pictures of big blue kazoos that they're bringing to
the game. My guy over here said, you still got
those kazoos in your car? I said, you got them?
I still got fifteen twenty of them. He wants one, Shannon.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
So we were thinking that the big blue kazoo idea
that we had the first year of the pre four
years ago, Yeah, which sounded like such a ridiculous idea.
You're telling me that it's just on its own gaining
traction and people are actually buying kazoos and taking them
to the game tomorrow, and that's right. So we have
at least four kazoos.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
And you know what, if this season's already ridiculous enough,
why not a couple artificial noises.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
I mean, it's not that crazy to think that if
you had everybody together blow a kazoo sixty to seventy
thousand kazoos at once. It'd be like a swoop, be
the most obnoxious thing ever, but it might be kind
of cool. Why not? You know, we've been trying to
find traditions at Kentucky for years. I don't I don't
really know why the Big Blue Kazoo didn't take off. Well,
it's because it's illegal. I mean, so what are they
(30:43):
gonna do. They're gonna confiscate sixty thousand kazoos again. It's
like the aging from My Cold Dead Hands. It's like
the Adam Sandler thing we were talking about where they said, Okay,
nobody can have their phone, right, but if everybody pulls
out their phone and starts video and Adam Sandler doing
a stand up routine, what are they going to do.
They can't take everybody's phone.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Right, but they'll flag Kentucky and they'll just you know,
start giving fifteen yard penalties and then you will see
this fan base lose their minds because the pre show
started Big Bluecut.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
So that also goes back to the tortilla tossing tradition
that we were talking about. Where was that is that? Oregon,
Texas Texas Tech. Yea Texas Tech. So I mean, if
you're the opposing fan, you know that Texas Tech is
going to get fined or penalized. Let's say, if you
throw tortillas out on the field, doesn't that make you
more likely as a fan of the opposing team coming
(31:33):
in to bring your tortillas and throw them out there
so they can get their their flag.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
And not only that, you know the tradition is to
toss it up in the air like a graduation cap.
I'm playing disc golf with that tortilla. I'm aiming for
somebody on the field. If I'm the opposing fan and
have a tortilla trying to get a I mean, nobody's
ever got injured by a flying tortilla, right.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Well, I mean you say that it's soft, it's doe.
Get hit in the head with dough. It's not gonna
hurt you. I don't know. They should let them have
that tradition, you know, they they really should. There's some
traditions I'm fine with. The Tennessee tradition are throwing mustard
bottles and batteries. I'm not for that. Golf balls and
golf balls, no, but tortillas they're harmless. It's completely innocent.
(32:11):
Let them have it. If you have a cracked windshield
and you know here at Don Franklin, I would hope
you wouldn't have one, but if you do, you can
call it Right Way Auto Glass and they'll tackle the
problem fast, no huddle, need it. At Right Way Auto Glass,
they walk you through the insurance claims process so you
don't have to mess with calling of that robot. We
were talking about automation. When you call a lot of
these you know, businesses, you got to go through a
(32:33):
press one for English and all that. That's not going
to happen when you call right Way Autoglass. They're locally
owned and operate it. They combine generational skill with cutting
edge technology to repair your broken glass the right way,
and their team members are experienced, licensed and insured. They
start with integrity and end with five star service. At
right Way Autoglass, they also offer same and next day
or same day service and they'll actually come to you
(32:54):
to do the replacement, so it's hassle free. Like if
you were here right now and you had a crack windshield,
let's say you call it right Way Autoglass. They could
come right here. To this parking lot and do the
replacement for you. You should do that. I mean, I'm
somebody that has a cracked Winst to park. That's what
I'm telling you. You could call them right now, or
you could just go to rightwayautoglass dot com. They spell
it rie Rightway autoglass dot com or eight five nine
(33:16):
five two three ten ninety eight. It's right Way Autoglass.
Show them your crack. We'll be right back. We're alive
here at Don Franklin in Lexington, Don Franklin Nissan on
Richmond Road. We'll be right back. Welcome back. It is
the final segment of the KSR pre Show Live at
Don Franklin Nissan and Lexington on Richmond Road. You can
go the distance with powertrain protection on certified pre owned
(33:39):
makes and models for up to ten years or unlimited
miles only at Don Franklin at Shannon the Dude at
Billy our Sports on Twitter.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
Yeah, I was gonna say twenty seven stores and over
six thousand vehicles across the Bluegrass and next time I
buy a vehicle, it will not be.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
A rear wheel drive car. Why is up?
Speaker 2 (33:55):
Because I slip everywhere when it snows, so you need rain,
ice snow. I mean that four wheel Yes, eat the
four wheel drive. But I'm not not into the rubber.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
Duckies or the Jeeps. I'm not either. I mean, it's
not my fault that I get ducked it. I guess, well,
it's only Jeep wranglers they do that for if you're
a Jeep Liberty you don't get to play like, oh,
wranglers are like they're they're their own thing. Like if
you're a Jeep Liberty driver, you don't get the Jeep wave,
Like you're not really the part of the cool. It's
(34:27):
like a cool kids club from the jeep owners. But
I noticed, like the first time I got into a
Wrangler and drove down the road, people that drive Wranglers,
they have to do the Jeep wave to you and
then inevitable. So now you're a natural, right, Oh yeah,
I got the Jeep wave down. So yeah. But I
feel disrespected though when I don't get the Jeep wave,
because sometimes the guy's like you pass, I mean he's
(34:48):
clearly looking down into his phone and I'm doing the
Jeep wave.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
I feel slighted when I don't get it back. It
looks a little bit like the frat flick. You ever
seen that?
Speaker 1 (34:55):
What's that?
Speaker 3 (34:56):
No?
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Yeah, I don't do that, but but normally I don't
have to initiate it because the person's already giving me
the jeep wave before I can even you know, get
to them. They've already got the hand up ready to go. Yeah.
I mentioned our Twitter accounts because did you see this.
Elon Musk is doing something I think that's interesting on Twitter.
He's allowing priority accounts for people like you, for instance,
(35:18):
like your Twitter handles at Billy our Sports. Okay, let's
say you want it at Billy Rutledge. Yeah, well I
looked it up. As a matter of fact, the person
that owns at Billy Rutledge hasn't tweeted since twenty twelve,
so it's a debt account basically. So what Twitter is
now going to allow you to do? Let's say you
really want at Billy Rutledge on Twitter, allow you to
(35:40):
have that, but you got to pay a premium price
and it all depends on I guess how many I
don't know if it depends on how many followers you
have or what. But they said anywhere between twenty five
hundred dollars all the way up to a million dollars
to pay for a Twitter account. So the question is,
is there any scenario in which you would be willing
to pay to have at Billy Rutledge on Twitter instead
(36:03):
of at Billy our Sports.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
Well, I got to say no, just because Billy our
Sports has become such a brand, such a for me
to like shift just to Billy and Billy Rutledge. I
think it would be a disservice to all the hard
work for the last decade or so. But I could
see a scenario where you know I would.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
I would not pay that money. I know you would
not pay that No, I absolutely would not. Like on Twitter,
I have the blue check mark, but that's not because
I paid to have that. That's because somebody actually bought
me a year subscription. Is that one for like my birthday? Oh? Yeah,
Like it was very nice. It was just a random
listener that was like, hey, I want to get you
(36:44):
a year on Twitter.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
Well I could see like why brands would definitely want
to do this, sure, right, I mean there was the
whole Sierra Miss thing and they couldn't even sell that
drink anymore because of that woman named Sierra Miss. Maybe
a little bit of a different situation, but I'm sure
there's somebody out there that gobbled up a Twitter account
name that people would want to pay.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
So when I try to create like the Alice Blue
Gown Twitter account, I had to do at Alice underscore
Blue Underscore Gown, and I couldn't get just the regular
one because whoever owns Alice blue Gown on on Twitter
it is just I think, a dead account that doesn't
tweet anymore. So they're they're basically taking these names that
(37:22):
brands would like to have and you can get it,
but you got to pay that price.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Well, I'm glad Twitter is admitting that like seventy percent
of their accounts are dead or bots.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
I mean, look now offering people that they can pay
take it at Alice blue Gown joined in twenty ten,
hasn't tweeted it one time and has four followers, Like,
why couldn't we just take that over? We can, but
we got five thousand dollars. We gotta pay Eline twenty
five hundred dollars for it. Yeah, well that's a good
move by him. I think a five nine two twenty
two eighty seven. Who's up next? Liam Jake and Hickory. Hey, Jake,
what's up? Hey, what's up? Jake? Morning? How are you
(37:53):
guys doing. We're doing great? What's up? One thing you
gotta worry about, Shannon, is the what the tortilla is?
Is you gotta worry about somebody loading them up, like
like Jim Cornett's a tennis racket. You gotta worry about
load of tortilla. You think that somebody is gonna get
(38:14):
a brick, wrap it in a tortilla and throw it, Well,
I know it. Well, I think that's a different.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
I was thinking like ground beef and lettuce. You're saying
there's a brick in the tortilla. Well, I mean if
you're loading it up, he was saying.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
I thought like sour c was making cheese. He was
making a wrestling reference. You're not gonna hurt somebody by
hitting them over the head with a tortilla loaded with
lettuce and beef.
Speaker 2 (38:38):
That would be much funnier. That's a salt with a brick.
I just want a little sour cream on their helmet.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Yeah, all right, Jake, what else you got? Hey, when's
the when's Mark Pope's first radio show? Billy?
Speaker 4 (38:52):
Do you know yet?
Speaker 1 (38:54):
I don't think it's this Monday.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
I think it may be the next Monday, So it
would be after the two exhibition games, Jake and and
before the first regular season game.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
There you go, all right, thank you, I appreciate it.
Jake's got a question for Pope. He wants to call in. Yeah. Uh,
I can't wait to hear Mark Pope's first first call
in show. I mean, it's gotta be a lot easier
for him to do the show than the Mark Stoops,
don't you think? Well again Stoops? Does he doesn't take calls?
Does he?
Speaker 4 (39:20):
Like?
Speaker 1 (39:20):
Has he taken them?
Speaker 4 (39:21):
No?
Speaker 1 (39:21):
He has, He just hasn't been a lot of callers.
He didn't take them Monday, did he? There hasn't been
a lot of callers lately.
Speaker 2 (39:26):
But you know, I'm excited to be working a postgame
show with Pope and Tom Leach and then having a
fan sit right in the middle of.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
So okay, So that's an interesting thing. We're talking about
all the things that you could do, you can pay.
We don't know how much you would have to pay
as a fan to be able to sit there between
Tom Leech and Mark Pope in a postgame interview. I mean,
do you think. I mean, I'm sure people will actually
do that, but that's got to be awkward, right, Oh yeah, definitely.
And we can't have fans going out and like injuring
(39:55):
our players during the handshake before the game too. Oh yeah,
that's gonna be. That's an other thing that you can sell,
delivering the game ball.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
All these kind of things that you can pay to
do now with athletics, which is I mean interesting, and
I think if you got the money, I'm sure people
will do it. I've seen people run out with the
team during football games and other schools.
Speaker 1 (40:12):
I think that's a cool thing. But you know, we'll
see how that all works out. Anything to make a buck.
A couple of quick hitters there here. According to a
new survey, Billy, you know, Halloween's coming up a week away. Yeah,
sixty six percent of people say they wouldn't mind buying
a haunted house. Any chance that you could ever live
in a haunted house that you knew was haunted.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Well, I got to live in the house after I
buy it, or can I just like airbnb it. Some
of the funnest things I did was go through haunted
houses as a kid, like one of those ones that
people are waiting around the corners.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
There's the one where you buy and their squatters that
jump out at you. Well, I don't want the squads
there either. That it's supposed to be like a like
a haunted house. Now I don't.
Speaker 2 (40:50):
I'm not gonna buy a haunted house that I'm gonna
live in Channon. I'm just gonna stay away from that.
But you're saying sixty six percent of.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
People would, yeah, And I think that I actually would
be in that sixty six percent if I got it
at a good price. Because some people will sell houses
they say, I just want out of this thing it's haunted.
Here's you know, a five thousand square foot house for
two hundred and fifty thousands. Okay, I'll take that right.
But then there's also the flip side of that, where
there's people who are like paranormal investigator nerd type people
(41:20):
