(00:21):

two sixty five six sixty five six KSR Pre Show
being brought to you by Italics Fine Italian Dining in Lexington.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
It is Halloween. We are here.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
I'm back from vacation. Uh, you are dressed up. I
am dressed up. It's obvious what I am?
Speaker 2 (00:36):
I am?
Speaker 1 (00:37):
I'm a referee, right, I've even got it right here
on my hat in case you couldn't figure it out
by the striped shirt and the whistle.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
But I figured, you know, if anything gets out of
hand here, I can just tease somebody up and throw
them out of here.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
I mean, you gotta think.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Like, of all of the reasons that people have broken electronics,
or the remote controls over the years. It's because of
a bad call, It's because of a referee. So I thought,
since I am so you know, unlikable, I thought that
I would be a referee because nobody likes a referee, right,
will join.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
The club of the unlikable club.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Yeah, holes in the drywall as well, probably a couple
due to these referees. They're dying breed though, so we
need these referees. Your hat looks like.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
It was at the bottom of a good will bin,
but you know it was at the bottom of polloween spirit.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
So that's that's probably around this time of year about
the same.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Yeah, yeah, but you know, like referees, you only really
know them because they make bad calls, right, nobody if
you're a good referee, does anybody do you know the
name of a great referee that never makes bad calls?
Speaker 3 (01:32):
I knew of Won and there was ed hockey league
and that was the only reason why I knew him
is because he had big biceps.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Yeah, so like he'd do.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
The Green Bay Packers games. It's zero degrees. He wears
short sleeved shirts and he'd just come out in his
big biceps.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
But you talk about like basketball referees. Yeah, I mean
you know their name because we've had some bad calls
over the years, right Yeah, Oscar Combs will even tweet
out before every Kentucky basketball game the list of the
officials so we can go back and see. Okay, is this,
you know, gonna be an officiating crew that's gonna job
us or give us a fear game?
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (02:00):
You know immediately Doug Shows is on the call, right exactly.
It's gonna do something to get on TV. Yeah, I
feel like I should be gyrating up here.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
You know that's right. So yep, you're right. You're doing
a great service for us in a referee coach.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Like I said, you know, we are in a place
where people drink here at whiskey thief the bourbon involved,
you do might have to call anybody gets a little
too drunk, fight breaks out. I can officiate it right here,
so we'll make sure everybody's on their best behavior. Yeah,
including you. And you are dressed up as what what
is this? You got a green shirt on with an
eyeball and a mouth on it.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Yeah, so you said you were the only obvious costume here.
This is an obvious costume. I think everybody knows that
this is from Monsters Ink. Mike be Zowski, Shannon, I mean,
get with the time, stop listening the classic rock so much,
and watch a movie every now and then.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Sorry, I don't watch kids movies.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
But look, we got a spray spray painted construction helmet
with the Monster's Ink logo.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
I thought you were like a minion. Is that what
it is? No, it is not a minion. Listen to
this guy. That's a different generation. It's even got a
nam on there that is a minion.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Has this was my minions that Monsters Ink is one
of the best Pixar A little construction hat.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Yep. So okay, all right, so we're ready to go this.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
So you said that your significant other, there's a chance
that she could come here and embarrass you because she's
like the partner of whatever.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah, so she's got an inflatable Sully costume. Yeah, and
she may or may not make an appearance today. I'm
not sure. So she might if you see Sully running
around later. That's just you know, my my other duo.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
So your plants for Halloween?
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Will you be like handing out candy or like scaring
the kids?
Speaker 2 (03:26):
What will you be doing. Oh yeah, we're we're on
big candy duty tonight.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Okay, you know we will give the kids full sized
candy bars, Shannon we made to us. Wow, Okay, man,
I mean it's only happens one time of year. Be
the person that these kids remember on Halloween ten years
from now passing out life size candy bars are full sense.
You know, Like last year I bought all this candy,
didn't have one trick or treat to the house, not
one one. So I thought, you know, maybe this year
(03:51):
I should just buy no candy.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
But of course I'm I'm thinking if I don't buy
any candy, it'll be the year when we have fifty
people that come by and I've got nothing to give
them but ram and noodles, And I don't think that's
gonna go over too well.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Well, we did get to see your garage in your
house over the last month or so, and it's it's
a close knit community. It's not like there's a lot
of kids, I guess coming in new kids. Maybe you
can give candy to the guys I just hand over.
I just hand out Shannon, the Dude's brew to the
adults that come.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Over that are already over there drinking, which is much
better than a KitKat. That's for the record, all right,
So I guess we should talk about the game that
happened last night. That did happen. It is an exhibition game.
Kentucky loses to Georgetown eighty four to seventy in a
game where it just felt like Kentucky just got out physical.
I mean, they they played a very physical game. And
(04:37):
you know, I think this is a great test to
have this as an exhibition game because we know life
in the SEC. Every team in the SEC is so
physical and for some of these young young guys that
have never played in the SEC before. I feel like
Georgetown played inn SEC style last night and it was
just one of those games where you could tell Kentucky
had three of their starters out.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
But I don't want that to be an excuse.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
I mean, we've talked about how deep this team is,
how we can go eleven twelve guys deep. So even
though you have three guys out you had two against
Perdue that we're out, still won that game handily.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
But what were your takeaways from last night?
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Well, you're right about Georgetown being the more aggressive team.
They took it to Kentucky pretty early and often. You know,
Georgetown said they specifically stat scout in Kentucky, unlike Perdue,
who famously said after that they didn't, and you alluded
to I think the biggest takeaway Kentucky without their starting
point guards.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
It's tough sltting.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
We know how important the point guard is and Mark
Pope's system, and I guess Aberdeen was doing a lot
in a Purdue game machine because his absence was really missed.
And this team is just gonna look a lot different
with Jalen Low. But the injury luck has not been
great for Mark Pope over the last year or so.
If there was a huge overreaction to the first game,
is there going to be in the other directions.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
I feel like this weighs it right back to the middle,
you know, like we overreact it when they beat Perdue,
and I think we're going to overreact when they lose
about fourteen against Georgetown and kind of get bullied. But again,
I think we should just take these exhibition games for
what they are, take them at face value. They are
an exhibition game. These coaches are still working on things
that they want to get ready for for the regular season.
(06:09):
Coming up next week. So yeah, I mean, I think
we're gonna have an overreaction either way. And that's one
of the fun things about being a part of this
fan base is that the overreaction that you get.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
You know, we were ready to hang a banner.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
I think after beating Purdue last week and then last night,
I felt like we got a little bit of a
dose of reality. But I will say this, if you
take away three starters from any team, I don't care
who they are, at what level, whether we're talking college basketball, NBA,
whatever it might be, it's gonna be tough to win
a game, even if you are a deep team like Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
And this rule change this year is allowing Kentucky to
play Division One opponents. Mark Pope was going into the
locker room and he told the sideline reporter, this is
exactly what we wanted. We wanted to face some adversity.
I now have film that I can show the guys
how these other teams are going to playoffs. But look,
I mean Georgetown, they were the more physical team. There's
no doubt about it. Kentucky couldn't hit free throws. I
(07:02):
think they shot sixty five percent for the game. They
couldn't get they could make stop.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Twenty for sixty shooting overall, seven for thirty from three
oh of thirteen in the second half, and then fifteen
turnovers versus fourteen assists. I mean, you can't hardly beat
anybody with those numbers, like seven thirty seven. If you
want to talk about something that they accomplished that Mark
Pope was mentioning before we started the season. They did
have thirty three point attempts, but when you only knock
(07:27):
down seven, that's not necessarily a good thing. It's gonna
be interesting to see how he manages that going forward.
You know, if you want to get thirty three point
attempts per game, but you're having a night where you're
maybe they're just not going down for whatever reason, how
do you handle that?
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Do you just stick to it?
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Do you you know, still let's say you're, you know,
four for twenty or something like that, and you want
to get to thirty. Do you go ahead and still
take ten more knowing that it's not a great shooting night,
or do you pivot from there. It's gonna be interesting
to see what kind of strategy he.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Takes going forward.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Yeah, you have to have unwavering confidence, maybe billy confidence,
if you're gonna be shooting thirty thirty five threes a game.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
It seems like that's important in Mark Pope's system.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
But we saw the duality of Jasper Johnson after he
played such a good Game one and then seemed to
be forcing a little bit in Game two. And Shannon,
your guy, Malachai Moreno man over the first two games
he is gonna be a contributor. Yeah, those two freshmen
were I think the biggest surprises for me in those
first two Exhibvision game.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Moreno was the guy that I picked.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
I always like to, you know, try to pick a
guy that maybe is not been talked a whole lot
about in the offseason. And you asked me, like, who
would your guy be? You laughed at my pick. If
you remember when I said, Melochamreno, I feel like, is
a guy that's going to contribute?
Speaker 2 (08:35):
I said, the third string center? Yes, And I.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Said, I think that he is going to be a
guy who is going to get you know, not the
most minutes, but I think significant minutes off the bench
and make a real difference.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Well, let's see how he adjuts to the SEC. Right.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
I mean physically, he looks like he's up for the challenge,
and he's hit a three last night, So Mark Pope's
gonna love that. But you know, this team is just
so deep that there are gonna be guys that don't play.
And maybe that's by who doesn't have it that night, right,
I mean if it's Can Williams goes out there and
she goes oh for five from three again like he
did last night, then you know he's gonna have to sit.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Oh take a oway yesterday named preseason SEC Player of
the Year. He played like it last night. He is
a guy that I feel like that we just sort
of take for granted. And even last year we talked
about all the other players that would need to contribute
to win the game, and we always just overlook o
way because I feel like he's a guarantee for fifteen
sixteen points every single night.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Well, I mean part of that is they had family
Day and Ryan Lemon went with Josiah and Josiah said, oh,
Tega's jump shots broken. I mean that's just kind of
the natural reaction you see when you see his shot.
But he was you saw how good he was last
year all the double digit games that he had.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
He's a hard worker. I think he wants to prove
some NBA evaluators wrong. I mean, I'm excited for.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
Another year of a Tago Ohway and a lot of
these guys, I mean, they just sometimes you struggle, I mean,
and that's not a bad thing. In an exhibition game,
I think you learn a lot about yourself. Did you
end up going to the media day?
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Did nothing?
Speaker 1 (09:55):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (09:55):
All right?
Speaker 1 (09:56):
So I saw that Matt went with his with his parents.
It looked like a really cool thing for everybody to do,
and Mark Pope did like a question in an interview,
but he didn't allow any of the media members to speak.
It was only like family and friends that got to
do the questions. So I thought that was kind of cool.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
Well, for like a job that takes you away from
your family a lot, you got to work a lot
of nights in sports, it's a really cool touch. And
when you've got people that can be critical of you
at times, why not bought them up a little bit?
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Right? Yeah, So watching this game last night, I kind
of felt like it was sort of similar to last
year when they lost to Ohio State, or maybe the
Georgia game. You look at these games that you know
Kentucky for the most part, you're happy with the results.
But then all of a sudden, you get a game
or two that sneaks up on you, like Ohio State
and Georgia last year, we were like, what, you know, you're.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Not expecting to lose those games.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
I wonder if that's just gonna be Mark Pope sort
of m o as the coach here at Kentucky. He's
gonna win a lot of games, He's gonna have a
lot of great seasons, but there's just gonna be a
couple of games where for whatever reason, that the team
just doesn't show up that particular night.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
Yeah, head scratcher every now and then, you know, I'm
not sure. It's definitely possible. In the SEC. There's a
lot of great rosters, especially last year. Right, but after
drinking the kool aid a lot after the first exhibition game,
I think it was a little bit of a reality check,
but still.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Optimism high for this team. He said that the team
likes to take naps.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Maybe maybe Kentucky basketball, maybe maybe they should have woken
up last night. I feel like they were kind of
napping through the game, maybe not doing the little things
that it takes to win a game like they did
against Purdue.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
So I could take a nap and be more tired
when I wake up, Shannon, Like, it really is what depends.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
Like I'm a professional napper, all right.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
Like if you nap and you do it the right way,
twenty minute power nap around one two o'clock in the afternoon,
there's nothing better.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
But if you go to.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Like the forty minute forty five minute range, now you're
risking getting into that groggy situation where you wake up
and you feel worse than you did when you lay down.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
I mean, I'm sleeping for ninety minutes, getting into that
deep sleep cycle. Yeah, and then like I'm worse off
for where than when I was. So hopefully those guys
know how long to take their nap.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
Shannon, it's important.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
So we want to hear from you eight five nine
two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Obviously we overreact
it to the win against Purdue. Are we overreacting to
last night's lost to Georgetown? Let us hear from you.
This guy we're here in the front shaking his head.
Yes we are. That's what we do as a fan
base though, right, that's Ao suoint Guard. That's right, that's true.
So we want to hear from you. Give us a
call on the Clark's Pumping Shop phone line. We're live
(12:22):
here at Whiskey Thief in Franklin County. We will be
right back. It is the KSR pre Show.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Welcome back.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
It is the KSR pre Show. We're live here at
Whiskey Thief. Whiskey Thief is Kentucky's first distillery to offer
every visitor a unique, straight from the barrel, uncut, unfiltered
tasting and thieving experience. We've learned a lot about the
Whiskey Thief tool over all the times that we've been
out here for these remotes, and this is you know,
people ask us like, where are some of your favorite
(12:48):
places to do a remote. This is always one of
my answers because we get to come out here. They
usually feed us some bourbon at some point later in
the day and we get to you know, actually fill
our own bottles with the whisk Thief straight from the barrel.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
It's a really cool experience.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
Yeah, I love doing it with the tool actually, and
you know they have the tasting room in Louisville. But
the experience here where you come on the farm, you
drive down the gravel road and like being here in
the distillery is awesome.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
So we love coming here.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
He's always a lot of fun to watch Ryan try
to do it because he is by far the worst
at filling a bottle. Half of the stuff that comes
out of the whiskey thief tool ends up on the barrel,
were on the ground because he has a shaky hand.
You gotta have a steady hand to be able to
fill those barrels. Well, they the bottles, I mean.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Right, but they tell you to the excess bourbon you
put on the barrel. But Ryan is putting half of
what's in the tunnel on the barrel. I just like
the end of it.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
They should be charging him double for all the inventory
they're losing every time he pours it out on the ground.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
Lose a little inventory doing so.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
I'm looking around here, like I said, you, you and
I are dressed up. We've got a few other people
that are dressed up here. The nerd gummy clusters over here,
which is my favorite. I think they win the Halloween
costume contest if we had one.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
I think you're pandering to Matt very well, yeah you
are and excited to see what he's going to show
up as because he and as of what midnight last night,
had no idea what he was gonna wear.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Oh really, so he wants us to dress up? Is
he gonna be the mega prediction right now? Is he
gonna be the guy that tells everybody to dress up
at the party but then doesn't dress up himself.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Probably?
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Probably tell me if you like this suggestion somebody had
on the post game show last night, right, have a
white shirt, write the letter P on it, and then
take some mascara and give yourself a black eye. So
they ask you what are you and you say you're
a black eye.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
P There you go. Wow, I'll tell you what that
is some next level thinking right there.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
I mean, if Max shows up like that, then you
know how much effort went into the costume search for him.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
We got a couple right here in the front that
says I'm with Spider and then she's got a shirt
on that sis pretend I'm a Spider like that one
to notice that I love that A five nine to
twenty two eighty seven. This segment is sponsored by DraftKings
you know, we got the NBA season going on tonight.
You also got Game six of the World Series. Do
the Blue Jays close it out tonight?
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Billy?
Speaker 1 (14:58):
And when their first World Series says n eighteen ninety three.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
I hope? So, I said, the Dodgers are gonna win.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
I just don't like rooting for the evil Empire, and
it feels like they are them.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
So I'm going I'm going Blue Jays tonight show.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
He Altani, though, has been absolutely like he is a
cheat code. He's like a video game player. He was
seven for seven in his first two games, and then
the game where it went eighteen innings, he got on
a base like all nine times.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Yeah, he was four for four and then they decided
to walk them every play to I would that, I mean,
wouldn't you rather give up one base than four? I
was trying to watch that whole game, Shanon. I made
it to two thirty am at sixteenth inning.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Before I gave well.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
I was in Florida and it was one point thirty
there and I fell asleep on the couch and I
woke up expecting to like find out what the score was.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
The game was still.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Going on, still going on, that's funny, but you can
bet that on Draft Kings. You can also bet all
the NBA games. All your favorite NBA players are back
in Draft Kings, and this official sports betting partner of
the NBA is the place to bet on all the
NBA stars of this season with more markets open for

Speaker 2 (16:02):

Speaker 1 (16:03):
You bet five dollars if your first bet hit, you're
gonna get three hundred dollars in bonus bets, and they're
gonna give you three months of NBA League Pass.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
It's only with KSR only on DraftKings. The crown is yours.
Speaker 1 (16:13):

NBA League Pass auto renews until canceled. Additional terms at
DKNG dot co slash Audio limited time offer.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
I mentioned the NBA League Pass.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
You were telling me that YouTube TV, I guess is
having a dispute with ESPN and Disney.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Yeah, and they're going black, they're blocking out. Yeah, here
we go.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
These mega corporations are fighting at the top, and it's
the consumers that have to pay the price. All Disney
channels were removed from YouTube TV as of midnight last night,
So I just checked it. No Abc, no ESPN, no
Disney channels.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Shoot.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
So you're saying, like, if I'm a YouTube TV subscriber
and tomorrow I want to watch a game on ABC
or ESPN, I'm.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
Just not gonna be able to do it.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
You're not gonna get it after you pay eighty dollars
a month for YouTube TV.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
It's ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
We see this right around football year season every year,
and I guess you know, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
And just who do you blame more in this?
Speaker 1 (17:16):
It's greed on both sides sides, And really, I mean,
the only people that really lose in this whole thing
is the subscribers. But I mean, here's what you do
as a subscriber. Go somewhere else, find a different alternative.
Last night, people were trying to watch the game. I mean,
if you just went on regular YouTube, not YouTube TV,
like free YouTube there's always somebody streaming a Kentucky basketball game.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Oh so the game was on YouTube.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
It was on just YouTube last night because I was
trying to find it. I was searching around like on
the on the box, and I mean, you can find
it on there, but you gotta do some digging. Or
you can just go to YouTube dot com or open
it up on your app and just search Kentucky versus
Georgetown and there's somebody streaming the game. Well, there's quite
a few internet games this year for Kentucky, So I'll
keep that in mind to watch if you don't have
SEC Network plus or ES being plus. It's just ridiculous
(18:01):
and all these streaming options and now I can't even
watch the game on Saturday two eighty seven. Let's go
to the phones. Who do we have at first? Liam, Richard, Richard? Hey,
what's up Richard?
Speaker 2 (18:12):
That Richard?
Speaker 6 (18:13):
Good morning for he didn't what guy this last night?
He didn't run he plays the first day. If you all,
as we're shooting off balance, you're not gonna you're not
gonna hit three unless your feet are said, unless you're
awful lucky and uh that's to me. That was just
(18:34):
the whole thing of the team. We we missed our
point guards and uh, I mean they just didn't run
it up plays. You gotta run plays win. And also
I thought there was a couple of kids that didn't
shoot the I mean, we're open, they didn't shoot the
ball that should have. I mean you're open. When you're
open for the three, take it. Uh yeah, and when
(18:56):
you're not open, don't take it as well. I look
at it, appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Richard. Yeah, the shooting was bad.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Defensively, though, I think I'm more concerned about the defense
than I am the offense. I think they they've got
guys who are pure shooters on this team. You're going
to have nights where it just doesn't go down right,
So I think that those things.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Offensively are gonna be worked out.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
Defensively, I think I'm a little bit more concerned about
what I saw last night, just giving up easy baskets
far too often.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Well.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Injuries and defense were the bugaboo last year, yeah, for Kentucky,
so hopefully it's something they can avoid again this year.
We've already seen the point guards have some injury issues.
But look, I mean, that's why you bring a guy
in like Mo Diabate. Right, that's why your expectations for
Brandon Garrison.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Got a lot higher this year. I'm sure.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
I mean, these guys have to start producing. We mentioned
Malachim Moreno, They've got to hold down the flour before
until Jading Quaintons gets back. It's gonna it's definitely gonna
be a team effort. But you know, we talked about
us overreacting. Maybe we shouldn't overreact to these exhibition.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Games, right.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
I know that Diabate hit that was it like a
game tie or a game winning three in the in
the media day when they brought it and they did
the little scrimmage and the guys were saying, back off
of them, back off of them. And I feel like
Modiabat last night he wanted to get one more in,
like in an actual exhibition game, took a really bad
three point shot. I don't want him taking too many threes.
(20:15):
You know, Well, yeah he's getting I feel like he
knocked that one down, and he's got a little billy
confidence thinking that now he's a three point shooter.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Of all the guys shooting, I don't think he's the one.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
All play Diabate Moreno and Garrison all hit a three
last night, Shannon, So, I guess everybody's got the green
line to shoot in this system.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
I guess so Kentucky football. Tomorrow, they got a game
to Kentucky football. I don't know, is anybody excited about
this game tomorrow? Some thumbs down? Loser leaves town t
Tom Hugh Freeze versus motivated Mark Stoops. Who What do
you think happens in this game? We'll talk more about it.
We're up against the break here, but what do you
(20:51):
think just generally, Well, Auburn's found a little momentum. They've
gone to a different quarterback. Hugh Freeze is still the
coach there. I think there is a big sense of
the loser leaves town. It's the outlook of the coach
that loses is not good. I mean, Kentucky plays better
on the road in the SEC than they do home.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
Believe it or not, they haven't won a home game
and how long. But at least they beat Old Miss
last year. It feels like Stoops always has one of
these games in them. Do you think it's either Auburn
or Florida. I feel like they can get one of these,
I really do. I mean, I didn't get the chance
to talk about the Tennessee game on Monday.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
Yeah, but you know it was one of those games.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
Well, I mean the offense, to their credit, scored what
thirty five points, but then the defense didn't show up.
So it feels like, you know, putting together a complete
game for this football team has been an absolute struggle.
Your defense shows up the week before against Texas, your
offense doesn't do anything for you. You had the flip
side thing happened against Tennessee. So they just need to
figure out a way. If they can just the defense
(21:44):
lock back down, play the way they were before the
Tennessee game last week, and if your offense can you know,
put up twenty one points, twenty four points, whatever it
may be, then I think Kentucky has a chance.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Yeah, and special teams too.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
I mean, they struggled against Texas sale those big pump returns.
It's just we live in some strange times, man. I
mean college sports right now, LSU, Penn State, Florida. Some
of these great jobs are all open right now in Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
Might be another one.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Techy also has ten scholarship players out tomorrow, so that's
not a good sign. Eight five nine, two eight oh
twenty two eighty seven, we were alive here at Whiskey
Thief in Franklin County. It's the KSR pre Show. We'll
be right back, all right, welcome back. It is the
KSR pre Show. It's Shannon the Dude and Billy Rutledge
KSR coming up next. They've got some really cool uh
what do you call those? Is it sniffers? Sniffers?
Speaker 2 (22:32):
What do you call these?
Speaker 5 (22:32):
They?
Speaker 2 (22:32):
I always forget what you call them? Like the little
things you pour the whiskey.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Yeah, like the small ones you're just taking a little
sample of, right, you know, the blue ones that they
got this year are really cool.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Now, they brought us some coffee, yes, which may or
may not have extra ingredients in it from Whiskey Thief.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Yeah, I'm just telling you just be careful. I'm gonna
try to hold off.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Yeah, maybe don't drink that, you know, like break till
we get to the next hour. Maybe MEANSR speaking from
experience from previously.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Now, of course we're here in the Franklin County location,
but Whiskey Thief also has a tasting room that opened
in New lou in Louisville in October of twenty twenty four.
So that's the one year celebration for the new lou
location being open. Really cool place to go if you're
in Louisville. Make sure you go buy whiskey Thief there.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Yeah, they have like Thursday night jazz nights at that location.
Here at the farm, they have music on the weekends.
There's a food truck that comes open seasonally Thursday through Sunday.
So I mean it's it's not just bourbon. I mean,
it's a really cool atmosphere here, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
If I'm nine two eight oh, twenty two eighty seven,
we have the lines loaded.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
So let's just go to some calls. Who's up next
to Liam? Doug? Doug? Hey, Doug? What's up?
Speaker 5 (23:35):
Hey?
Speaker 6 (23:35):
Guys?
Speaker 5 (23:35):
Just stug out and still can two things. Shane, I
agree with you. The defense is worried some after last night. Yeah, Billy,
I agree with you. Monster Inc. Is one of the
best Pixar movies ever made.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (23:47):
But you can't tell Shannon to get with the times.
That movie is twenty four years old.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
There you go.
Speaker 5 (23:54):
Came out in two thousand and one.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
Wow, did you realize that now, man, Billy, No I'm
getting old, Like you just hit me like a ton
of rocks, Doug, like two thousand and one, I felt
like it.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
Was five years.
Speaker 5 (24:05):
How good? I think it is. My wife and I
actually watched it last weekend.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
So there you go.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
Let me tell you if that's all I got, guys, Halloween.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Thank you next to the call we appreciate if you
want to get with the times. Do you know what
the number one costume is this year?
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Yeah, it's like K Pop demon Hunt. There you go,
k Pop Demon Hunter and Minecraft.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Those are like the number I guess the number one
is k Pop Demon Hunter, then Minecraft is number two.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Like, are we that out of touch or is that
a little crazy? No, we're that out of touch.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
We're old, really, I mean I haven't been trigger treating
in at least thirty years. But okay, now, what is
the age though, that you're supposed to stop trigger treating?
Because I always thought like, once you get to thirteen,
that's it, Like when you're twelve, that's your last goal.
Around thirteen, now you're a teenager, you can't go trigger treating.
That's the role that I always kind of had, or
(24:54):
my parents KNDA had. I think when I was a kid.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
No, no, no, But what's the rules these days?
Speaker 1 (24:57):
Like if I have a six foot five trigger treater
come up to my house, am I obligated to give
them candy?
Speaker 3 (25:02):
Yes, six', six three hundred pound man shows up at
your door On halloween night with a pillow, case you
give him a piece of.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
Candy, now, kids look At mike, dickaback dick. Out Ryan.
Bears oh it is That. RYAN i couldn't even tell
it was. RIGHT i can't even tell That. Ryan is That? Ryan?
Ryan that is a Great that is. Good that's Not,
ryan is? It, no they're.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
Not oh you turned around and showed us as bald,
spot so we knew it was. Him that that is
a great. Cost oh my, GOD i can't. Wait we'll
get these. Pictures don't even know what we were talking.
ABOUT i don't, Either i'm. Distracted i've looked back. There,
yes My Monsters.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Inc one of the Best pixar movies out. There oh,
YEAH i know. That we were talking. About what is
the age where you got to oh, yeah cut it
off for trigger.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
Treating, yeah so man shows up at your, door you
gotta give them candy On halloween. NIGHT i think the
rule IS i think kids can go maybe a day
before day After, halloween but adults showing up at your
door asking for candy any other Besides, halloween that's just.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Weird you call. It that's a restraining.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Order if you got like a guy showing Up november
the second trying to get candy, front.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Yeah that's when you need to watch, out maybe lock your.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
Doors you didn't really answer my question. Though is it
thirteen or do you get to go like to fifteen or?
Sixteen like, What there's got to be a cut off
at some.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
POINT i you, KNOW i feel like at like high school,
age you start going to and then you start going
to parties more.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
So Fourteen is that what we're going? With, No, NO
i want a little bit more than. That when you start, driving,
yes you don't feel like you're want to walk. Anywhere,
okay that's a good.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Point if you can drive yourself to the neighborhood that
you want to go trigger treating at, legally THEN i
think that's when you got to cut it, off you,
Know and you can't be sixteen and still trigger. Treating
if you're an, adult you get to do it as
long as you have kids with. You if you're an
adult that shows. Up, no you're not getting. Candy that's,
weird fair or foul, Here, Shannon, Well i'm a, referee
SO i.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
CAN i. Can, oh this is good for.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
You then a lot of kids in my old neighborhood
would get in like a, trailer like a car or
like the back of a. Trunk, yeah and the car
would drive them to the different. Houses do you think
that's fair or foul in a subdivision with a lot
of crowded.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Houses now that's being lazy as a. Kid you got
to get. Out you got to go door to door
like a. Salesman see that's WHAT i.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
THOUGHT i, MEAN i had to earn my candy back
then they just get to sit on a trailer and ride.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Around who's up?
Speaker 1 (27:14):
Next, Liam Adam, Adam, Hey, Adam Adam?
Speaker 2 (27:21):
Adamy there.
Speaker 5 (27:24):
No?
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Adam all, right he's?
Speaker 5 (27:25):
Next, Nick, hey good morning, Guys, shannon welcome.
Speaker 6 (27:30):
Back.
Speaker 4 (27:34):
Hey, YEAH i THOUGHT i was just gonna make a
couple of points about the basketball.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
Game you go at an offense we're not Seeing we
didn't see a lot of our.
Speaker 5 (27:43):
All we didn't see the sets.
Speaker 4 (27:45):
That hope likes to run from last. Year the zoom action.
Speaker 5 (27:48):
Which is pretty important and key to think.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
About BUT i also would say THAT i think we
have to keep in mind that we That, Dentel laberdine
And jalen loping off the. Floor these are the tour
the offense FOR i can't imagine a lineup this year
with one of them not. Playing there's the shop that
we're going to keep that in. Mind but also one last,
morning on the defensive, front we've.
Speaker 5 (28:11):
Got the right.
Speaker 4 (28:11):
Personnel i'm not worried about our. DEFENSE i think you're
asleep at the wheel last, night but we've got the
right guys for. This this is going to take some
roster continuity from lineup getting back together on the. Floor
we'll be fine on the defensive.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Front thanks, Guys, yep thanks for the. Call you, Know
i'm not too worried about the game last. NIGHT i, mean,
yes said the only THING i was a little bit
concerned about was the. Defense BUT i think that's something
that will get straightened out when we're, healthy when we
have three of our starters back in the. Lineup but,
YEAH i mean, again it's the overreaction that we're going
to have early in the year because.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
That's the only thing we have anything to base things
off of.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
True but tell me if what you think about This
Mark pope. Quote he said that the individual talent is
not overwhelming on this. Team this team can be great
as a team that they're not going to dominate anybody with.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
INDIVIDUALLY i agree with, that AND i feel like that
was the way that last year's team was. Built, yeah you,
Know Mark pope isn't going to necessarily go out and
get the type of player That Cali perry, would you,
know get the five star, guys get the elite of the.
Elite BUT i feel like that's Where Mark pope's strength
is is coaching these guys up to being better than
what they've, been you, know like coaching them up to
(29:14):
their full.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Potential, YEAH i, think AND i think that's How Mark pope. Recruits.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
YEAH i think the verse, is you spent twenty two
million dollars on the, roster you don't have individual talent that's,
Overwhelming but you could say that the twenty two million
dollars was spent on. DEPTH i, mean they've got more
depth than the platoon, Team SO i, MEAN i don't
think you'll see, that but you've seen a second unio
out there in these exhibition.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Games so knowing that that number is twenty two, MILLION
i MEAN i Think i've said in the, past you
know the ON ksr THAT i think, that, yeah you
got to hold them to a little bit of a higher.
Standard but that doesn't change what the goal is because
For kentucky, basketball the goal has always been the.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Same it's always national.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
Championship so do you hold the basketball team a little
more accountable and the coaching staff more accountable to the
product that they have because of the twenty two Million.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
Yeah kind of LIKE i just knowing the dollar, AMOUNT
i don't know if that's the human in me that
makes holds him.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
To a higher. Standard but you're exactly. Right the standard
is still the, standard right? RIGHT i mean, still but
you want to feel like you're getting your return on, investment.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
You, do especially if you're considered the like the most
expensive roster in the, sport, RIGHT i think that does
matter at the.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Perception let's take another. Call who's up next To? Liam
john Short John?
Speaker 2 (30:21):

gonna do. MUCH i, mean we've got to have. Them we,
don't we're in. Trouble but you, Know i'm nicely not
in general to me, exactly but how many? Years when
should we Give mark hope to get to A final?
Four how many years do you think it to?
Speaker 5 (37:13):

Four fans gets.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
ANXIOUS i like that we lost one exhibition, game and
the hilarry is already, asking all, right, yeah, well you,
KNOW i don't really. KNOW i can't only speak on
behalf of the. FANS i think that's all a matter
of personal opinion for. ME i, MEAN i don't.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
Know it's it's here's the. Thing you could have a
great team and not win a.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
Championship kentucky has had a lot of great teams over the.
Years how many championships have we?
Speaker 2 (37:42):
Won? Eight so you, can you, know, yeah to a final?
Speaker 1 (37:48):
Four i'd say if he's not there in year three or,
yeah three years from, now which would be year, four
right or, five year, five not including this, year AND
i think fans will probably start to get a little.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
Anxious and a little you, know. Unsettled what do.
Speaker 8 (38:04):
You, Think, Larry, Well i'm sitting there thinking. That of,
course you, know you can't go by. YEARS i, mean
some people get, lucky not fartist. Coach what was he don?
There two years we got a. Championship But i'm not
necessarily saying. Championship you, know it's been a long time
since we've been to a final, four you, know you
you you, Know I'M i think The pope can get it.
Done But i'm sitting there. Thanking you, know last night
(38:25):
these kids were JUST i don't, KNOW i think they
got full of. ITSELF a lot of it. Was and
you know when they beat the number one team, supposedly
WHICH i don't think is the number one team either,
now But, georgetown you, know we all to schedule, them.
Guys we need to schedule him every year to we beat.
Him they have beat. Us we're zero and two against some,
guys first.
Speaker 2 (38:43):
Time since the what was it nineteen eighty or something
like that That georgetown came or they're still mad. About,
yeah SO i appreciate the, Call. Larry thank. You you know,
AGAIN i like pump the.
Speaker 1 (38:52):
Brakes, yeah we're talking about exhibition games and it's, good
you know that you get these games out of the
way when they don't count instead of having them in
the regular. Season but again. Overreaction we knew that it
was gonna be this. Way we called it before The perdue.
Game If kentucky won that game with two guys that were,
injured we're Already we're already saying.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
Number, nine we're gonna win the. Title Right, well we
got twenty four hours to celebrate That perdue. Game then
we had The kentucky football. Game we bring us back
down a little. Bit now we've had this exhibition. Game So,
shannon it's only right For kentucky football to bring us up.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
Tomorrow that's what we. Need that's what we absolutely.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
Need AND i feel like this is gonna be one
of these, games whether it be this one Or, florida
That kentucky is going to. Win they're gonna do just.
Enough you, know they're gonna Be Tennessee. Tech maybe they
finished with a win Over louisville and we were right
there at five and. Seven legacy game For Brad white
after getting embarrassed By. Tennessee you play a backup quarterback In,
AUBURN i, mean this is Your Old miss game last.
(39:45):
YEAR i think they've they've Gotten you just need a
complete game from the defense and the. Offense, YEAH i,
MEAN i feel like we've, had you, know the defense
playing really well up until last, week and then you,
know the offense was just not holding up their end
of the.
Speaker 3 (39:56):
Deal then last week we get some, points but we
can't stop them on. Defense it could have been very
easy for this team to quit On Mark stoops and
this coaching. STAFF i don't think they've done that. Yet,
NO i don't think so. Either, now coming up tomorrow, Night,
billy we're falling?
Speaker 2 (40:07):
Back are we doing? That is that?
Speaker 1 (40:09):

rid of this, thing AND i guess it never went
through it, INSTALLED i, Think.

thirty five, O'CLOCK i, mean it's just it's like we're
living In seattle and the depression rises around WHEN i.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
Was driving, here it was, dark And i'm, thinking you,
