He's over in Lexington.

And you can give us a call on the Clark's
Puppet Shop phone line at eight five to nine two
eight OHO twenty two eighty seven. You're a whiskey thief
Call of the day. You can't call it, you can
always text us five O two two six five six
six five six And the KSR pre Show being brought
to you by Italics Fine Italian Dining in Lexington. As
(00:29):
I see my co host Billy our Sports right now
wearing a DraftKings hat? Did you where did you get
that from? Did you buy that? Did DraftKings send that
to you? Did you get that from our DraftKings trip
that you didn't go on. I like that that hat
you get on.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Well, thank you.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
I've only wore it like every day for like six months,
it feels like, so I appreciate you noticing. I you know,
they gave us a big package of free stuff here
at the Lexington office a while ago.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
I don't think you got any of it, Shannon.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah, I mean why would the guy who endors his
DraftKings get any of the swag?
Speaker 5 (00:58):
No?
Speaker 1 (00:58):
I mean, yeah, just to me, just hoard it yourself.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Hey, give it to me instead.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
But that's just one of the many things that you
miss out on being in Louisville. You know, we do
the show most of the time remotely, so we're connecting
with Shannon, so you know, when he interacts with the
KSR guys, a lot of times it's through the team's
call or just through the magic of radio. So you know,
that's why I enjoy Friday so much because.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
We get to see in person.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, and I'll be with you tomorrow at the Spoken
Spirits that's on West loudon right.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
It's a yeah, gray line, straight line station.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Yeah, So get out there and join us. Now.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Of course we are the show before the show, and
sometimes we are the the after show. We kind of
treat it as that as we talk about things that
happened yesterday on KSR. And I think that's where I
want to start today, Billy, And we can, by the way,
make this and ask anything Thursday too, eight five, nine, two, eight,
twenty two eighty seven if you want to call in.
But you know, yesterday a lot of the show was dominated,
(01:49):
not necessarily by talking about Kentucky's went over Nichols, but
by talking about Ryan and his interaction with his YouTube streamer. Now,
I feel like I opened up a whole can of
worm when I revealed to everybody just a couple of
days ago on KSR that you can watch Kentucky football
and basketball games for free on YouTube if you want to.
I mean, it's it's it's there, and.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
No fear of repercussion in that voice right there.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
No, I mean I'm not doing it, and I'm not
the one streaming it, So wat should I care? Like again, like,
I'm not the one who's If there's anybody doing anything wrong,
it's not me. I'm just kind of nudging you in
the right direction, you know, Billy.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Like I'm like promoting it on the biggest radio shows here.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
I'm not promoting it. I'm just telling you. I'm giving you.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Like that's what you get on the KSR pre show.
You get little inside tips and you know, tricks sometimes.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
O doors, you know, Yep, I've told boxes.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
I'm just trying to you know, uncle dude, Uncle dude,
just trying to teach you a lessen or too here
on the show.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
You like that fun uncle, right that just kind of
you know, knows some of the tricks of the trade.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
And Ryan tapped into the YouTube stream just a couple
of nights ago, and not only did he watch it,
but he revealed yesterday on the show that he paid
ten dollars to this guy who has ran streaming the
Kentucky basketball game basketball.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Game on YouTube.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
And I don't know if he realizes this or not, Billy,
but he paid ten dollars for just seven dollars. He
could have gotten a ESPN plus. Yeah, but yet he
paid three more dollars to a random streamer on YouTube.
And we had callers yesterday saying that the same guy
has been streaming these these songs, streaming these games since
(03:24):
covid and maybe makes thousands of dollars every time he
does it.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Maybe you and I should go into streaming games.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
I guess so. But that is Ryan Lemon to a t.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
That's why we love him, the kindness in him to
donate to this guy instead of just going out and
buying the actual package for a cheaper price. Like you said,
I absolutely love it. And now it sounds like he's
gonna do tip more. I think he said that if
he's gonna if it's gonna happen again, he'll tip again.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
But I just I've got to watch it on mute.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
I can't stand the guy with behind the camera, you know,
making comments throughout the entire show.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
He doesn't say it a whole lot.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
He's like, oh, like the Knights dunk there, Like when
Colin Chandler threw that dunk down. You know, he had
a reaction to it. But again, it's kind of like
you're watching with the buddy. And I think the overall
psychology of this whole thing with Ryan getting excited because
he got a shout out from a YouTuber who he
doesn't even know. This guy by the way, he was
so excited because the guy said thanks for the tip
Ryan on his YouTube stream. I think the overall psychology
(04:22):
of this is Ryan, as we know, is now an
empty nester.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
He gets low lonely.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
He needs to feel like he's got like a friend
that he's hanging out watching the game with when he's
at home. And now I think that Ryan has become
basically best friends with the Sports Live Reaction YouTube streamer.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
You think that's what it is.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Yeah, I think it is like he wasn't doing this
stuff before, but maybe it's because he didn't know what
existed before too, maybe right.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
And you know, the games were getting taken off of TV.
Now these games were going to be on SEC Plus
regardless of the YouTube TV Disney complications, So I mean,
maybe we should have been a little bit more prepared there.
But you know know, I just in the past, I've
seen some of these live streams, like for a boxing event,
and the guy's talking the entire time. So if it's
(05:06):
done sparingly, then I can I can. I can do that,
like I can watch that on YouTube. But you know,
har boy, Ryan, Let's let's see if he keeps it up.
But I love that he's donating to YouTubers. Yet you know,
you know, he doesn't give us any money when we
talk about him exactly.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
I mean I think sometimes he forgets he's doing a
radio show, like you're on the radio. Yeah, And sometimes
you shouldn't admit to everything that you do when you've
got a microphone in front of you, because now not
only did you partake and watching an illegal stream, but
then you openly admitted it on the biggest show in
the state of Kentucky.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
Yeah, you want to be open and honest and be yourself,
but sometimes not everything is for the microphone.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
I've learned that over these past four years.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
That's right, that's right. Sometimes we don't need all that information.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Now, my other takeaway from the show yesterday was Matt
basically admitting that there's a lot of times he doesn't
even watch the games. Now, I know that we know
Matt superstition thing like where if he's at a game
and Kentucky's losing, he'll step away or he'll go watch
the game somewhere outside of the arena. You know, I
told you this story when we were in Milwaukee during
the NCAA tournament. We were at the game in the stadium,
(06:13):
great seats. I was like, I could have reached out
and tripped a referee of it was so close to
the court. But Kentucky, you know, gets down and then
he just leaves the stadium and goes off and watches
the game on TV somewhere because he's so nervous. He
goes down the street at a hotel and I'm going, now,
why do we just drive all the way to Milwaukee
so you could watch the game on TV at a hotel.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
We could do that here in Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
But yeah, So he was talking about yesterday the fact
that he doesn't even watch a lot of these games
because he's nervous, and that conversation came up because we
were talking about the theoretical conversation of if your team
was guaranteed to win a national championship, would you be
willing to not watch any of the games the entire season?
(06:57):
I think absolutely, Yeah, sot, I want your answer on that.
Gave our answer yesterday.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Yeah, one thousand percent.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Just if I because I know that they're going to
win the national championship, I'm doing I'm taking one for
the team, right, I mean, I might as well get
a ring at that point if everybody's aware that Billy R.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Sports isn't watching the games because they're gonna win.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
But that's the thing, though, Like do you because that's
what I said, Like I would four go watching games
in entire season if I knew that they would win
the championship.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
But I want the credit for it. I want everybody
to acknowledge.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
I want to be I want to be, you know,
a part of the team parade at least so they
can acknowledge this is the guy that really should get
the ring.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
I actually want a ring.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
I think I should get a ring because I'm the
I'm the reason that you won those championships to begin with.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
In this theoretical that's right.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
Everybody needs to know the situation if that's going to
be the case. But I gladly not watch my team
if they're gonna win a championship.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
On the deal with Matt. Completely fine behavior.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
If they're at home, right, you watch a lot of
games at Reparena, maybe get nervous, you want to go
back home watching on TV.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
I get it.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
But when you drive to Milwaukee with the boys, yes,
it's a whole trip pregame show. You know you've got credentials.
I mean, Shannon's even got credentials at this point.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
That's true.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
It's a minor miracle at this and then it gets
to it gets.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
To the get into the White House credentialed. But I
can't get into a game at the SEC tournament and
then you're leaving at the most important part.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
So yeah, I think that is psychopath behavior as much
as it is not hitting go on your GP.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
The other thing is like how do you do a
post game show and talk about the game that you
didn't watch.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
You rely on your co host who is you know,
been doing a great job on the post game shows
over the years. So but no, I mean I think
there's a Do you think there's a lot of people
out there like that, Shannon? You know, we heard of
the guy that was like listening to the game in
his truck. At least he was still listening to Do
you think people get so nervous they can't watch.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
The game that? Yes, I do.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
And I also think that there are people who will
not watch the game live, but they'll dv ar it
and watch it later on, like in the day.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Like I know people that will do that. They just
hate commercials that much. They don't I don't know.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
I guess they Well, I think what it is they
want to see the result of the game, then go
back and watch the game.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Yeah, we had this conversation. Somebody called in and said
that they do that, they see if they want or not,
and then go watch the game because they're not nervous throughout,
which I think that takes away from the sport.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Yeah, you know, knowing the result beforehand back in the day.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Billy, you're too young to even remember this. But back here,
I am Bagra made Back in the nineteen ninety nineteen
hundred and nineties, they would have a lot of these
smaller games, kind of like the one they played against Nichols.
They wouldn't even play them live. You'd have to wait
till like eleven o'clock at night. They would have them
on tape delay, and especially these exhibition games when they
(09:39):
would play athletes in action. The only way you could
see that would be is if you stayed up late
and watched it at eleven o'clock at night, or you
have to listen to it live on the radio.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Now, if I had that situation, I would definitely do this.
But Matt took that situation out. He said, you cannot
watch any of the games. I guess after the fact,
after they win the championship, you could go back and
watch the games if you wanted to.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
Well, I'm sure the radio team would love that, right,
I mean, more ears on the radio broadcast if the
TV isn't even run until later that night. But in
that instance, I am listening to the game and then
I can watch it back. But like if I miss
the entire thing and then just see the Cats one
by ten. I'm probably not going to go back and
watch the entire game, but I guess there is an
anxiety level that people have with sports teams man, But.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
To me, that's part of it.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Like I like the roller coaster of watching sports, I
want to watch them live.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
That's part of it.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Yeah, exactly, the drama, the excitement you know of it live.
If I'm watching it and I know that it happened
two hours ago, it doesn't have the same I don't know,
doesn't have the same feeling for me watching something that
I already know the result of.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Think about the last SEC home game one by Mark Stoops.
I mean there's just I mean there.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
Alrighty here, it was September two, It wasn't September twentieth,
twenty twenty three.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
The joy of some of the big plays in that
game only come because you're watching it live and you
don't know what to expect. And that leads to me
doing the radio broadcast shann and I digest games in
probably the weirdest way because I'm like, at all times
fifty five seconds ahead of what I'm seeing on TV. Yeah,
so I will hear the radio call and then it's
(11:20):
a while until you actually see what happens in the game.
That's a weird way to watch sports, right, probably something
that people don't see a lot. But I think the
best way is sinking up Tom and Jack.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Oh yeah, if you can do that, that is definitely
the best way to do it. If you can. There
used to be something called sports.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Sync radio where you could pause like the TV and
then sync up the radio with what you're seeing on TV.
I don't even know if that even exists anymore, but
there's there's got to be a way to still do that.
And we get that question, I feel like at least
once a year, like how do you do that? And
I've never tried to do it, so I'm probably not
the best person to ask.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Billy.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
I think you've done it before. So yeah, and there's
an anstruction. Yeah, you can answer that question before we
get it if you want to.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Well, I mean there's instructions on UK athletics website now
that they get so many questions about it too of
people wanting to do it, but it's simply just, uh,
you have to listen on stream is the key here.
You're gonna be able to get yourself enough delay to
be able to listen to it.
Speaker 6 (12:14):
Well.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Kentucky, as we know, on a mission to get championship
number nine, but they're all banged up right now. Trent
Noah is in a boot pup, says that Jalen Low
may play tomorrow. I don't know that that's been official
yet that he is going to play, but you know,
I think that if that means we get a healthy
Jaalen Low on Tuesday against Louisbell to not play him
(12:36):
tomorrow against Valpo, I would gladly play Valparaiso without without
Jaalen Low, without Trent Noah.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
Tell you those guys ready for.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
You're fine without a ramp up game though, before Louisville
Jalen Low.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
I mean, yeah, I mean, if he's not one hundred
percent ready, I don't think you throw him out there
against Valpariso.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
I don't know this is you know, we've been dealing
with these point guard injuries last year and now they
rear it's ugly head again early on this year. I
don't want to give him out a ton of credit,
but I think he's right having all that stock in
Jalen Low, I think this team. Really, the success is
going to be a lot of the play of the
point guards. We saw the Aberdeen influence in the second
half of that last game, and if Jalen Low can
(13:15):
play up to kind of that, mantra be a better
shooter than he was last year at PITT. I mean,
the sky is the limit, man, I mean when the
ball is moving. What we've seen with this team so far,
it looks great. And look, I don't blame Mark Pope
for working on defense so much these first few weeks.
I mean that that was their bugaboo last year, Shannon.
If you know, if you've used that term before, it
(13:36):
was something they definitely need work.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
Not really a bugaboo, guy, No, I don't really say that.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
No, not QBF later today. No throwing a bugaboo for me.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
I mean, I guess I can.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
If you want to listen, I'll give you like the
Easter egg, shout out bugaboo.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
I'll work like Tom hard on the UK broadcast. If
you could throw in a big blue kazoo and a
bugaboo for me.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
I'll throw it in.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Only if you promised to listen for four hours. Well,
I'll throw it in the last break of the four
hour show.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
Ten minute, it's on my way to ten minutes. That's
all I do today. Yeah, and hopefully you come on.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
It's not that's not that's not their way to Heaven
or something like that.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
That's not good for Tom spent listening. You know when
they put the ratings book out fifteen right, one of
the things, yeah, the quarter average quarter hour. You know,
they want to know, like how long are you listening?
If billy Ard Sports puts ten minutes, that's not going
to help my rating.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
You tell me you're gonna get throw a bugaboo in there,
I'll give you fifteen.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
I mean Stairway to Heaven is eight minutes long, so
I mean there's one song right there you can stick
around for, like you know, free Bird after that, and
that's the problem.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
There's fifteen minutes.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
I'm at my destination at that point, so I'm gonna
have to pull up the stream. But yeah, it's about
staying healthy. I'm excited for Jann the Low disappointing Jane
Quaintance does it get to play in this game.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Here's the thing that we've seen now three games with
Kentucky basketball, and we haven't yet to see a healthy team.
Yet we knew the Quaintans was going to be out
for a while. We didn't know the Jaylen Lowe thing
was going to come up. We didn't know the Trent
Noah thing, the Denzel Aberdeen injury as well. So I mean,
these are all things that going into that Purdue game,
we weren't expecting to have guys banged up and injured.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
Yet here we are.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
So I think it's just let's just get everybody as
healthy as possible as we can and what four five days,
uh whatever? Next two five days, next Tuesday for that
Loisoll game. Because I want to win that game.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
Well I do too.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
You've got a tough non conference slate and then it's
really about winning those SEC games. So if you can
continue to ramp these guys up to being ready for
the most important games.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
Rick Patino Saint John's later this year, Shannon, I.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Want we're going to be at that game. I can't
wait for that one. Like, I'm really excited to see
Saint John's Mark Pope versus Rick Patino. It's gonna be awesome. Hey,
five nine twenty two eighty seven, We're gonna take your
calls it is Ask Anything Thursday. So if you've got
something that you've always wanted to ask, now's the day
we'll take your calls. Coming up next here on the
ksrpre Show. All Right, I figured out how to get
(15:51):
you to listen for fifteen minutes on one song, Billy.
The live version of Leonard Skinner's Freebird is like fourteen
minutes long. So I'll get you through with the live
version of the fourteen minute free Bird song and then
I'll talk for a minute, and then I'll get you
to fifteen minutes.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
I like it. I like it.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
Freebird has a special place in my heart. If you
ever wanted to see me perform a Guitar Hero song,
that'd be the one.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
Oh really, that was the one that was I love
the guitar Hero back in the day. The one that
I could slay was Barracuda.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Oh that's a good one.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
I never missed a note on that one.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Revolutionary back then.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
I mean now you even got into like, was it
rock band where you could play the drums?
Speaker 7 (16:31):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (16:31):
He thought he was singing.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
That was cool too, the first couple iterations, but you know,
kind of played out now. Guitar Hero when it started
was amazing.
Speaker 2 (16:39):

yesterday you brought it up during the break that we
got to talk about for just a minute, and that
is this comment that is hurling towards Earth and it's
(17:39):
supposed to get here like I don't know, December twentieth
or something like that. But they're saying the thing about
this comment that's unusual. It's moving in ways that comment
shouldn't be able to move leading. I guess this guy
from is it Harvard who thinks that it could be
more than a comment.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
It could be a space that I guess is.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Somehow captained by aliens or has some sort of alien
connection to it. And because of that, they thought, you
know what, We've got to have the most intelligent people
on Earth to help us with this situation. And who
do they get to bring on the research team? None
other than Kim Kardashian. You gotta help me make some
sense out of this. Why if we really think that
(18:24):
Earth is under attack by possible aliens in a couple
of months, would we bring Kim Kardashian on the research
team to help out?
Speaker 1 (18:31):
Is she going to negotiate or like? What is the
strategy behind bringing Kim Kardashian on?
Speaker 5 (18:37):
Well?
Speaker 4 (18:37):
I liked Drew's answer, it was like, you know, keeping
up with the aliens. You know, they're gonna want to
keep up with what's happening with the humans. And I
guess Kim can be the ambassador here. She's the one
that's been selected. I know she's a lawyer now, but
I'm not sure if that's going to apply here. But
you know, there's people that believe that this is happening. Also,
My dad is one of them. I don't know anything
about this story, but he's told me twice over the
(18:58):
last two days about it. Apparently like different colors are
coming off of the comment. The heat signature is not
all in the back of the comment, it's in the
top too. Like Shannon, there's some things that don't normally
happen being registered with this comment right now. So I
think we're like waiting for it to come around. And
if it's gonna, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
So what do we think it is? Is it aliens?
And if it is aliens, it's.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
Like a radioactive turd out there or something like that.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
It's my best theory of bringing Kim Kardashian on the
research team to possibly negotiate with these aliens is that
arguably the Kardashians are the most annoying, obnoxious people that
we have on Earth, and if these aliens talked to
Kim Kardashian, she would just, you know, basically show them
that there's no sign of intelligence on Earth and they
(19:45):
would just move on to the next Floodkay, Okay, that's
what it was. I think that's what would happen.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
One person on the text line said, I'm astounded that
Mac was so shocked that they appointed Kim Kardashian to
that research team. Of course she would be a good
candidate for lead astronaut.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Was there a joke there?
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Yeah, I guess you just did.
Speaker 6 (20:04):
You just didn't.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
I don't think Okay, I think I think I'm picking
up what you're putting down.
Speaker 4 (20:08):
Okay, Well, thanks for the reaction there. Okay, it took
me a real good radio It took me about it.
Just the completely silence that was my reaction.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
Yeah, sometimes the jokes don't always land.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
Billy Well, Ryan definitely knows that.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Let's go to trustan first. What's up trusting.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
Gentle morning morning?
Speaker 1 (20:28):
All right?
Speaker 6 (20:29):
Hey, uh so y'all yeah, yeah, so y'all were talking
about being nervous during games and stuff and being able
to watch them. So I don't really get nervous during
football games, but I do prefer to have the the
our Homers talk instead of having the TV Homers talk
because they're just going to talk about the other team
the entire game. But the but the one game that
I was not able to watch was when we played
(20:50):
Duke last year in basketball. I actually watched this the
ESPN game updates on my phone for the entire game
until there literally were five seconds left, and then I
pulled up the the TV stream, but I turned the
volume off. So if you remember, those were a couple
of contentious last couple of seconds, we ended up winning.
So you know, that's just my personal story. I do
get nervous, but I usually listen to the radio and
(21:12):
not the TV announcers. You know, sometimes basketball just drives me,
but football just never does.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
So thanks guys, thanks for the contest, and we appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
I think a lot of fans probably do that too,
you know, just can't stand to listen to the announcers
because especially ESPN, you're playing a team like Duke. You
know that the ESPN loves some Duke. So the announcers
tend to, you know, lean a little towards Duke. I
feel I can favor them.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Well, like Tom and Jack will give you storylines that
you'll never hear on the national broadcast, and that's cool
when you're a fan of the team. I do like
the image or thought of watching the game through the
ESPN updates, the play I Play updates, because I've done
that before, but that was because I didn't have access
to watch these games. This is you're so nervous you
(21:58):
can only watch through the play I Play updates, So
I can appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
A five nine, two eight, twenty two eighty seven. We'll
take more of your phone calls. Coming up after the break,
we're going to talk about two K. Was in town,
Billy scanning the players, getting them ready for this NBA
two K game that's coming out eventually. Yeah, we'll talk
about that. We'll get into some Kentucky football stuff as well.
And UFC and the FBI are working together. What's that
(22:22):
all about. We'll talk about it coming up next here
on the ksrpre Show. We'll be right back Snoop Dogg
ringing us back drop it like it's hot. It was
announced this morning Billy that Snoop Dogg won't be doing
his New Year's Eve show that he was planning on
doing so that he could do the Olympics. And I'm
totally cool with that because if you've ever if you've
seen Snoop doing like the commentary for the Olympics, or like,
(22:44):
didn't he do the Tyson Fight, there is nothing better
than Snoop Dogg's commentary. Like, if I could pick one
person to just commentate my life, like as I'm just
going out like and doing like random things.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Throughout my day, it'd be Snooping.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
He'll be Snoop Dogg because he is whole hilarious And
part of me really can't believe that these networks would
allow Snoop Dogg to do commentary on the Olympics, you know,
because it's kind of a serious thing. But the ratings
are so much better because of Snoop Dogg. People like
me that don't really care about, you know, watching water
(23:18):
polo or whatever Olympic event or curling or whatever it is.
But if I know that Snoop Dogg's going to be
a part of it, I'm watching it just to see
what he's gonna.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
Say, yeah, I'm sure he does bring entertainment value. Are
you somebody that works their entire life to a moment?
Are you a little sad that Snoop Dogg's on the call?
I mean more people are invested on that than the
actual play that you've waited four years for your entire
life you've worked for. No, maybe that's the alternate broadcast
a little insulting the main broadcast.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Yeah, whatever, think Hey, I would love Snoop Dogg's PR team.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
I mean, this guy has just become I mean, he's
beloved by this country. He had a bowl game a
year or two ago, I think in college football. So,
I mean, this guy is just able to put his
hands on a lot of things, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Are you telling me if we could have Snoop Dogg
calling Kentucky Valpo, you wouldn't be interested?
Speaker 1 (24:05):
You think it would be insulting?
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Because no, no, no, that's fine. I get that.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
But like the the javelin thrower that gets one shot
at this, I mean, they're not gonna be talking about
the javelin. They're gonna be talking about Snoop Dogg and
all the weed he's smoking. Shannon, So like it's a
little surprising.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
He's get the Olympic entertainment. Nobody cares about the guy
throwing the javelin. Nobody cares about the highjaars. Okay, yeah,
him and his friends and family care. Guess what the
rest of the world don't care.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
Can we pay attention to Tim he's about to throw, No,
he's about jumping.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
About Martha Stewart, He's.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
About to jump into all the sandbox over here, Let's
watch him.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Nobody cares about jump.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Let's talk about the technique. Yeah, what Snoop Dogg smoke?
Speaker 2 (24:49):
I want real I want Snoop Dogg as only Snoop
Dogg can do to explain what's happening.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Well, I want to.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
Snoop Dogg do the YouTube stream. I'm tired of the
NBC product being whatever. So anyway, you're grumpy this morning,
I'm fine. I'm just I didn't do the astronaut joke, right,
So you're.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
Mad because you're an astronaut joke.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
Didn't just didn't deliver it, right, sor right. We're gonna
get better.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
That's okay. John Schwartz on the phone, Hey, John, how
are you? You're great?
Speaker 7 (25:18):
American un must will be Great American unless rote too
big tonight.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
What's your predictions?
Speaker 7 (25:28):
Okay, we will we mom of fifty five, Biggins a
real revo, Sweet Missouri and volleyball tonight.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
There you go, Yeah, five women's great women John basketball
team game two tonight. John says We're gonna sweep in
the Sweet Missouri. Then we got Tennessee after that, John, Well,
sweet to you.
Speaker 7 (25:46):
Now is a Mammy game on nine point five? I
w l A P.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
It should be on l A P.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
But I'll double check for you right now, John, and
I'll get an answer for you before the end of
the show.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
That sound good.
Speaker 7 (25:59):
That sounds good. And I don't think we were playing
Mamath before and it way was basketball until you're playing before.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Well we have in men's basketball. I think we were
actually at the game. I think they played Monmouth in
Madison Square Garden.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Just how long. I don't know what year was. That
wasn't that long ago.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
I need John for these things.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
I was at the game. I'm pretty sure it was Mamoth.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
It is on lap tonight.
Speaker 7 (26:21):
John, Okay, thank you, and we'll we'll win. To Morna
be up for raising Moorrow night.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
By thirty five big thirty five Biggs against Valpo.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
All right, John, we got you. Thanks for the call,
all right.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
Yeah, six fifteen, start for that on news radio six
thirty w l A. P.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
Free Bird's up next, Hey.
Speaker 5 (26:41):
Free Bird, Hey Bailey, just listen to some free bird man.
It will calm you down.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
That's what you need. Is that what you call yourself?
Speaker 5 (26:51):
Are you?
Speaker 1 (26:52):
Are you a big fan of free bird or a
skinnered fan? Is that what you call him? Free bird?
Speaker 8 (26:57):
No?
Speaker 5 (26:58):
My last name is Freeman.
Speaker 8 (26:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
I got a funny stoke down at Lindsey Wilson baseball
players and basketball players had a big party and the
guy had Leonard Skinner on the stereo, and we had
hooch and a couple of kegs, and somebody brought it
in this big skull head of these tubes coming out
of it, and basketball player from Bardstown about six six
two forty five. He goes, boon your listen, dudes, Freeming,
(27:21):
we're gonna start calling you free bird dog. And I'm like,
I didn't think anything of it.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
And that stuck since nice eight gotcha? Gotcha? All right?
Free bird? Anything else?
Speaker 5 (27:30):
And yeah, regarding that half court shot that that guy
made at the game, uh, Shennon was bigger sports center
down there for the basketball place and at Lindsey Wilson
when you were there.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
No, no, I don't think so.
Speaker 5 (27:47):
Okay, I made a half A lady got her name
drawed out and she wanted me to shoot it. So
I shot it and I hit it. Take a long
guess what the prize was we're talking about. He hit
for ten thousand. I hit for a twenty five dollars
gift card at Hardy.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
They gave you.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
Come on many, I feel like, I mean, even like
a middle school game, you should get more than twenty
five bucks if you hit a half court shot.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Twenty five bucks is the best they could do.
Speaker 5 (28:16):
The best I can do. I think about the six
hot hamm and cheeses on it.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
Wow, that's that's got to be the weakest half court
shot prize maybe of all time.
Speaker 5 (28:29):
Have yet toms than that? That's a lot of.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Pressure, Yeah, exactly for a twenty five dollars Hardy's gift card.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
All right, free bird, thanks you good to hear from you.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
I mean, come on, you guy, hit a half court
shot and you give them twenty five bucks and a
pet on the back.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
But ten grand though, man, that's grand. Well, you know great.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
The McAfee thing is really crazy.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
You know, the on ESPN Game Day, he's giving away
like half a million dollars to some of these guys
who were hitting field goals, and then he even allows
them to go pick somebody else to kick the the
ball for them.
Speaker 4 (29:01):
Yeah, go pick your soccer friend who's been practicing this
kick for the last week in preparation.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
For People keep saying that that's actually McAfee's money.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
I don't know. I don't know that I believe that.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
Well, you know, they're not saying that without showing the proof,
but you know, I think that's part of the bid.
It is supposed to be his money. But like, oh,
he missed it, let's just let him try again. Yeah,
so I get it.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
Entertainment purposes, Shannon, So that's why they got you watching.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
Yeah, I mean it's good drama. It's good TV drama,
especially for like a pregame show. Kentucky Football coming up Saturday,
gonna be hosting Florida. As we talked about in the
first segment, they haven't won a home SEC game since
September of twenty twenty three. Billy, that's right, does Kentucky
snap the losing streak at home on Saturday against Florida.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
You know, I think this team is building some momentum.
Speaker 4 (29:50):
Some of the practice reports is that David Gusta was saying,
you know, how great this week of practice has been
for the guys and how much they've really needed some
of this positivity. So absolutely, I think you circled this
game before the season even started. And now that Billy
Napier's out and DJ Lagway has had a pretty bad
season so far, I mean you got to like your chances, right.
This is really the one takeaway is that it's at home.
(30:12):
I mean that's kind of working against Kentucky at this point,
is it not.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Yeah, I mean Florida's banged up.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
They got thirteen players out, including Dallas Wilson, who's like
their best receiver. You know, Florida has been solid at home.
They played Georgia to a four point game just last week.
They beat Texas earlier this year, but they've struggled on
the road. They haven't even won a game on the
road yet. And as you just hit on there, they
don't even have a coach. They have an introm head coach.
So I feel like, if ever there was a time
(30:38):
to get Florida and to snap that winning or winning street,
I wish it was a winning streak, snap that losing
streak at home, you get the win over Florida. I
feel like this is a good opportunity to do that
this Saturday.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
Yeah, and then it kind of really builds some anticipation
for these final three games of the year Tennessee Tech.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
Vandy, and Louisville. I mean, if you were to win
Auburn and Florida back to back, I mean, the vibes
are a changing at that point.
Speaker 8 (31:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Right, you get this win and you assume you're gonna
get Tennessee Tech.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
Now you're at.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
Five five and win in front of you, and.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
You win Vandy or Lovell and you're poll eligible after
all the stuff that we've been through this season.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
Imagine Mark Stoops crawls out. You know, he's a.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
Guy's it's like the uh the Buried a live match
in the WWE. He's got the arms sticking through. Just
when you think he's down and out, he's his hand
is reaching through the dirt and he's crawling back out
of the grave just to get to a bowl game.
I can see it happening. Man, I'm just saying, well, it's.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
Usually the opposite, right, They usually have a lot of
wins early on in the year. Maybe they reached the
top twenty five, and then it kind of comes crashing
down after the Georgia game.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
Let's go to Larry. What's up, Larry?
Speaker 9 (31:43):
Hey, Yeah, thanks for taking my call. I want to
go to basketball at rep Areena. The scoreboard they changed
the funds. The score used to be at the top
of the scoreboard and now the score is at the bottom.
But the thing that they missed, we don't have a
possession possession arrow used to be at the top. That
scoreboard's got no possession arrow, and I lose track of
(32:06):
whose ball it is every because so how do we
get that back?
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Well, that's a that's a good question, Billy, and I
don't have anything to do with the possession arrow at Rupperina.
But Billy, how do we get back the possession arrow
so that Larry can know whose ball it's supposed to be?
Speaker 4 (32:21):
You know, I'm not sure, but I understand, Larry. I
mean you need to know. I mean, if you are
going to be somebody that watches some of these nerve
wracking finishes. You got to know where the possession arrow's at.
So if you know, it's usually on the floor at
the scores table. But if you can't see that, we
need it on the scoreboard.
Speaker 9 (32:35):
Well that's exactly right. You can see it at the
score table if you're across from it, but if you're
not across from it, you're like, oh wow, oh yeah,
it's our ball. Hole, No, it's not our ball. So yeah,
I called down to round. I can't get a hold
of anybody, so I thought maybe maybe somebody's listening.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
Well, you know what, I'll follow a complaint on your behalf, Larry.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
All right, all right, thank you for the call.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
We know they're so hopefully that that.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
We do know they're listening.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
I don't know, I got I haven't been to a
game at RUP this year, so I'm not sure.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
And I don't get to leave my cave, so I
I don't get to see the possession arrows either.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
Let's take one more. Let's go to Wayne. Hey, Wayne,
what's up?
Speaker 8 (33:16):
They say, still ask anything?
Speaker 1 (33:18):
They sure?
Speaker 8 (33:20):
Yeah, yeah, okay, I've got I've got one. Reached one
of you guys at the former former educational institution. You
were associated with. Okay, uh, Billy, Okay, I'll go with
you first s t d uh Lindsey Wilson. Did you
(33:40):
ever do you ever dig into their history and find
out if there's anyone that played basketball at Lindsey and
went on to play at UK.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
No, I'm not sure if there is.
Speaker 8 (33:55):
There is, there is there is at least one. His
name was Benny Kaufman and he played the basketball there.
I think he won the national Junior College Chadmanship back
in the maybe back in the nineteen fifties, somewhere along
and there. He went on to play for coach up
at UK, according to Cordon his obituary last year, and
(34:21):
he passed away in West Virginia. His name was Benny Kaufman,
and he scored twenty points in a game against Jerry West.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
Imagine that you went to So he went to Lindsey Wilson,
I guess for maybe a year or two and then
transfer years two years, then transferred, then transferred to Kentucky
and scored twenty points against Jerry West.
Speaker 8 (34:42):
Yes, that's correct, And of course Lindsay was at junior
college then two years of the jury and you went.
I think there was another one but I'm not sure.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
Did you have one for Billy?
Speaker 7 (34:57):
Yes? Uh?
Speaker 8 (34:59):
Any athletes that he knows?
Speaker 5 (35:02):
The woman.
Speaker 8 (35:03):
One of the dormitory towers on the on the Western
campus used to be named after Hugh Hugh Poland. Does
he have any idea who that was named after.
Speaker 4 (35:15):
No, but I've been there several times and I think
they've tore it down since. But I was familiar with
the dorm I.
Speaker 8 (35:22):
Believe, so they named that after a member of their
board of trustees who was a baseball player at Western
who went on to play in the major leagues. I
think he played with the Cardinals. Maybe he wasn't a
great star, but he he didn't make the Major league.
Speaker 1 (35:44):
All right, we've got a history.
Speaker 8 (35:47):
Things. Well, here's another one in Kentucky football. A Western
Tucky football player is in the Canadian Hall of Fame twice.
Once that's the player and once as a coach. Who
is in the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. Buddy T.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Betty, there you go.
Speaker 8 (36:10):
He went the same hush, he went to same hush.
Who that that, mister Poland went to?
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Good stuff? All right, Wayne, we appreciate it, thank you
for the call. There you go.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
We've got an entire history lesson I feel like on
our alma maters. Now, if you'd asked about former Western
Kentucky basketball players going to Kentucky, of course Patrick Sparks
will be the.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
One that would come to mind for me.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
Yeah, that'd be the There was a former Lindsay Wilson
basketball player that also played at Kentucky.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
And Benny Kaufman was the first junior college player ever
signed by rub to play for Kentucky. That was That
was a cool little history lesson. Uh, Poland Hall. It
was like Snoop Dogg was living at Poland Hall back
in the day. I mean that was a lot of
troublemakers at Poland Hall.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
Clouds of smoke coming out of.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
There a little bit. Yeah, and they've tore it down
since I believe.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
All right, well you've got to take a break. We'll
take more of your phone calls. Coming up next on
the ksrpre Shio. Final segment of the KSR pre Show,
Metallica under Sandman. Have you had their beer into Beer Night?
Speaker 1 (37:08):
Yeah? Metallica has got like the very own beer, no
good stuff.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
Actually, is it worth not having a shan in the
Dude's brewer?
Speaker 2 (37:15):
A shade of the Dude's brew is definitely better than
Metallica's beer, which, by the way, it's been really cool
seeing everybody send like your pictures of you drinking the
beer and buying it. So send those to me and
I'll continue to share them and retweet them when you
do that. So this segment of sponsored by the Stretch Lab, right, Billy, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (37:32):
The Stretch Lab in Lexington and Fort Wright, a boutique
fitness franchise that offers customized, one on one assisted stretching
by a trained flexologist in a modern and friendly communal environment.
Maybe you're that pickleball player out there that wants to
be a little bit more flexible. Maybe you're like a
golfer like me, and spine rotation and stabilization throughout your
core is really important. Well when it comes to performance,
(37:54):
length is power, and having more flexibility and range of
motion allows for greater movement, translating to more power and
consistency in things like your golf swing. In addition to
consistent stretching, you know you can increase your muscle flexibility
recovery aiding an injury prevention. Don't wait until your quality
of life is gone to try to fix your pain.
(38:14):
And if you use promo code Bogies with Billy, that's
Bogi's with Billy, you can get a fifty minute one
on one assisted stretch with a computerized mobility assessment just
for forty nine dollars. And let me tell you that
computerized mobility assessment is humbling, Shannon. You are probably not
as flexible as you think. Check it out at Stretch Lab.
You can call them an eight five nine three nine
(38:35):
nine seven to seven four. Check out their Lexington studio
or fort right.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
The two K Video game Company was in town yesterday
scanning the Kentucky basketball players so they could be a
part of this NBA. I guess it's the two K
twenty six that'll be coming out, and it probably won't
be twenty six, twenty seven maybe, I guess twenty six
is probably already out right.
Speaker 4 (38:55):
Well, no, you know, this will be the first in
a while when it comes to college basketball. And then
it looks like EA was gonna make it, but they've
now dropped it for two K because I think so
many schools would have rather have two K done it
instead of EA. So yeah, I saw that, saw Trent
Noah in the boot out there with the photo of
the BK.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
Will be in the boot in the game, so they
scan them in the boot.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
That's a great question. Probably not, you know.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
Like so I mean, this game though, comes out win.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
See, I don't know, because that's it, will Trent even
be on the team, That's.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
What I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
The roster turnover, I mean, it wouldn't even make sense
unless it's coming out soon.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
I would think it would be. It would have to
come out like with the next couple of months or so.
Speaker 3 (39:35):
Yeah, I don't think. I don't think it is. That's
the thing.
Speaker 4 (39:37):
So maybe they're getting like a baseline. Maybe you can
play with pass teams. That's what I would really like.
Can you imagine playing with pass Kentucky teams.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
I just wish they.
Speaker 2 (39:44):
Would figure this thing out where we could actually get
a college basketball video game with all the teams, and
that's what we were going to get with EA Sports,
But then two K came in, and then e A
you know, said it's it's either us or nothing, and
then two K came in. They're doing this NBA game
as they have and doing, but they're wanting to put
in college a select amount of college basketball teams and
that's the closest thing we're going to get, unfortunately in
(40:07):
the near future for college basketball games, and it sucks.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
I love playing those college basketball games.
Speaker 4 (40:12):
Well, you know, EA has done a good job bringing
back the football games.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
You know they have been good these years.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
Now basketball want I'm not going to go buy an
Xbox or a PlayStation until they get the basketball.
Speaker 4 (40:24):
Well here's the thing. Micro transactions ruin any two K games.
So and EA too.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
All right, hey, Luke, what's up?
Speaker 10 (40:31):
Hey guys, I was calling in and said I felt
bad for the guy that only got the card for
the half court shot? Is our high school years back
to a promo to where they offered if you made
two out of three half court shots, then you wont
twenty five thousand dollars and.
Speaker 1 (40:47):
I won a big ask.
Speaker 10 (40:49):
You won out of three shot?
Speaker 7 (40:52):
I won?
Speaker 10 (40:52):
I made it.
Speaker 3 (40:53):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (40:54):
And how much did you win?
Speaker 5 (40:55):
Well, twenty.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
Congratulations. Much did you have to pay in taxes?
Speaker 10 (41:03):
Well I got to keep most of it, So that
was that was good.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
Yeah, Yeah, that's cool man. That's that's a great easy man.
Speaker 3 (41:09):
That's a good story to tell.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Thanks for the call, Luke, We appreciate it. Uh, real quick,
I want to talk about this story. UFC in the
FBI working together because of an abnormal betting interest and
a featherweight fight, Billy.
Speaker 1 (41:20):
There was two guys fighting.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
One guy was heavily favored over the other, but the
guy who is the favorite minus two hundred and fifty
odds on the on the betting apps, just basically tapped
out in the first round. Fell Down, tapped out in
the first round. Now not only is he been thrown
out of the UFC, now they're investigating him. Imagine though,
that that actually was a legit fight. Maybe you just
(41:43):
had a bad night. You'll lose the fight, and not
only not only do you lose to a guy who
you shouldn't have lost to, but you also get.
Speaker 3 (41:50):
There getting investigated.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
Unbelievable. That would be a great show. Stars up next.
We'll talk to you tomorrow. Thanks for listening.
