Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome everyone. It is the KSR pre Show. It's Tuesday,
November eighteenth. I am Shannon the Dude, and you can
give us a call on the Clarks Puppet Shop phone
line at eight five nine two to eight Oho twenty
two eighty seven. You can also send us a text
at five oo two two six five six six five
six beer a whiskey thief.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Call of the day.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
And the KSR pre Show is being brought to you
by Italics Fine Italian donning in Lexington, which is where
Billy our Sports is right now, fresh off of this
trip to Buffalo, New York.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Welcome back, Billy. How are you man?

Speaker 3 (00:31):
I'm great, Shannon. It's great to be back with you.
It's great to be back on the routine. I've got
a cup of coffee, just had some small talk in
the elevator. It's like we never left, Shannon, so glad
to be with you again.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
What time did you guys make it back. Did you
do a direct drive from Buffalo to Lexington or did
you do the uh, we're gonna go over here, then
go over here for a while and then do a circle.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
How was the trip back?

Speaker 3 (00:54):
It was good, it was It's not the same escapades
as a week long trip. When you've got all that time,
Matt will kind of go into a different direction. It
was a short trip for us, so it was just
directly there and directly back. I think that was That
was a good introduction to the KSR road trip for me, Shannon.
But had a couple of good stops. I up to
my snack game a little bit. Had some mountain dew

(01:16):
and gummy worms.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
No no, no, no, wait a minute, the guy who
had carrots and celery is now doing mountain dew and
gummy worms. Don't let them bully you out of your
snack trae. Okay, you can have the veggies. It's okay
to do that.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Well good, I mean, I didn't think that the veggies
were in the wrong to begin with, but we got
unhealthier and unhealthier as the trip went on. I got
the front seat treatment on the way back, so you know,
I was able to on the way there, I was
able to kind of nap and you know, watch a show,
do my own thing. But I was in the front
seat on the way back. Got about four and a
half hours of the Bill Simmons podcast up there, so

(01:51):
I've listened to enough Bill Simmons for the year, and
you know, we talked. We talked a lot. It was
a good talk with Matt, so overall it was a
great trip. We got back about well like eight thirty
nine o'clock, so not too bad. Had had some time
to eat dinner and go to bed. But Shannon, man,
it's it's weird because we've got the Champions Classic tonight.
I feel like I'm still in buffalo mode right now,
like I've got to pivot and get ready to go

(02:13):
because Kentucky's got a big game tonight. But I told
you before the show started, we missed you. We missed
you on the road trip, Shannon, and I don't think
you seemed to no, I share the same center.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Well, I mean, I miss you, guys, I don't.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Here's the thing I've aired by grievances about the KSR
road trips. I don't hate road trips in general. I
just like to get to where we're going. But that's
part of the KSR road trip thing. Like, So just
to give you an example, We're going to Atlanta for
the Kentucky Saint John's game coming up in a few
weeks now. According to my calculations, getting to Atlanta, Georgia.

(02:47):
I think you could drive there in about six hours,
six and a half probably from Louisville. The thing is, though,
we're going to take a week to get to Atlanta.
So as I'm looking at a map of the United
States of America right now, if I had to project
where we will actually go, Billy, I would say we
would go from Kentucky to Tennessee, to Mississippi, to Louisiana,

(03:12):
maybe even dip into Texas, come back through Mississippi, Alabama,
down to Florida, then to Atlanta, Georgia. So that's when
I'll say that, you know, some of these trips were exhausting.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
It's because of that.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
And I guess, I mean, I get you know, Matt's
out of this thing too, because if we just drove
straight to Atlanta, the trip would be over in a day.
But coming back, though, I want to do a direct
line back from Atlanta, Georgia to Louisville or Lexington number one,
because it's my birthday of the day after that, I
don't want to I don't want to be driving. Yeah,
so I don't want to be driving all over America
on my birthday.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
But no, I mean you know. Other than that, the
trips were fine.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Other than that in sleeping on a bunk bed, you know,
or a couch, like I'm not a spring chicken anymore.
Like I could do this in my twenties, but I
need a good bed, so some times the Airbnb's I
would much prefer when I'm traveling to be in a
hotel versus an Airbnb. I don't know if you're like that,
if you like Airbnbs, I'm a hotel guy.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Though, No, I love the Airbnb. I did get like
a great room though with three different mattresses I could
have slept on. When you're pushing fifty, I understand the.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Couch, and fairly into my forties.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
You can't get up at five am to watch Good
Morning America and get the Jerry Eves so started. So
it's definitely a change of routine. I just I kind
of like the hole in the wall places on the road.
Drew was really good at finding some of those places.
We stopped at the Skunk and Goat Tavern on the
way back, which was his amazing.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Gunk and Goat Tavern.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
It sounds like I bet they passed their inspection with
an a plus huh.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Yeah, I had some goat balls as an appetizer. Balls
goat balls, So that was good.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
When you say goat balls, what are they like? What
is that?

Speaker 1 (04:51):
I mean, you're not talking about mountain oysters, are you? No,
you can that's a completely different thing.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Then and I can't even really tell you what was
in those goat balls, but they were fantastic. And then
we like went to super Weenie Hut Junior or something
on the way there. So it was it was it
was a great trip, really satisfied. You know, some hotdog
stand in the middle of nowhere, but it was you know,
some places the aesthetic as soon as you see it,
you know it's going to be good. You know those
old mom and pops hole in the walls people will

(05:19):
travel a long way for Kentucky's got plenty of those.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
So so four dudes traveling went to Super Wenies and
got goat balls. That sounds like that's pretty much it
completely summarize your trip.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
That is the KSR road trip. But excited for my
next one, Shannon. You know, you kind of got me
in a frame of mind of what it was going
to be like, and you know, it blew my expectations
out of the water. So I can't thank those guys
enough for having a good time.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
And you had to ride up there where Ryan would
normally ride in the shotgun seat. And you know, as
a person riding on a road trip shotgun, you have
a responsibility. Like if I'm sitting in the back, which
I normally sit in the back seat, I have no
responsibility back there.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
That's the way I like it.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
If you're on a road trip and you're the guy
riding Shotgun, you got to talk to the driver. You
got to make sure the drivers alert, keep them awake,
keep them entertained, if need be small talk. You know,
that's that's your responsibility. So I'm glad that you got
to fill in for Ryan and get some of the
front seat experience.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
That's right, I asked Matt, how am I going to
get my own show on ESPN radio. I've responded to
you all the Trump topics of the day. I thought
I did a good job up in the front Shaden,
and so here we are ready to go again.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
All right, So tonight in the Champions Classic. I know
you're happy about this. You've got to run the game.
But normally these Champions Classic games for Kentucky are late.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
They usually get like.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
The eight thirty or nine thirty game, and tonight it's
the six thirty games. So Kentucky takes on Michigan State.
Really their second true test of the year. I mean,
I guess you could count Purdue, but that was exhibition,
so kind of set that to the side. Global game
didn't go so well. Tonight they take on Michigan State.
Michigan State ranked number seventeen, Kentucky number twelve. How do

(06:53):
you think it goes for Kentucky tonight in New York?

Speaker 3 (06:55):
So happy it's early, yeah, I mean so happy this
Usually this game doesn't start till ninth already ten o'clock,
maybe one of the longer pregame shows of the year
with Camon Buzz trying to fill time before this game starts.
So really thrilled that it is the early one. And look, man,
Kentucky has played well versus Michigan State in this series, right,
I mean I brought up Tyree s Maaxi and how
some of these young superstars get on this stage and

(07:19):
the cream rises to the top, right, Like it's you
see these guys that are made for the moment. Maybe
these are one of the first moments that they can
really have and despite the Louisville game, early on, I
think we're going to see somebody play really, really well tonight.
Is that Denzel Aberdeen filling in for Jalen Lowe? Is
is that Otega Haway? Somebody that we are doesn't look
like himself right now? And I think BBN is kind
of pleading with I'm really excited for this game. Shit,

(07:42):
not really nervous about it. I feel like Kentucky's gonna
be ready to go, because as long as Mark Pope
does the opposite of what happened before the Louisville game,
I guess they should be ready for this game. But
you know, hearing Dick Gabriel talk about some of the
history of this series over the past few years and stuff,
I'll maybe some think Yukon should replace Thiss Michigan State.
You know, Let's see what tom Izzo still has got

(08:03):
left in the tank. We've heard him complaying a little
bit recently. Let's see if he can come in with
a little fire tonight versus Mark Pope, Kentucky, how are
you feeling about the game?

Speaker 1 (08:12):
I don't love it with with Jalen low being out,
and we'll talk about that in just a second, because
there's some talk as to whether or not he's even
going to play at all this season. But let's look
at Michigan State what they've done so far. I mean, really,
they come in at three and zero. They've played Arkansas.
That's the only game that I've seen at all. Did
you watch any of the Michigan State any Michigan State
It was classic Cali Perry Ball. I mean, they blew

(08:33):
that game at the end, So Michigan State won that
went over Arkansas. But yeah, so Jalen Lowe. You know,
Matt brought up on the show yesterday. He asked us,
do you think that Jalen low plays another game this season?
My answer was not knowing anything, absolutely, he would play
another game this season. I would expect him to play
a lot of games this season. Matt said that he

(08:53):
thought he wouldn't play anymore this season. I said, well,
you you obviously know something. He said, no, he doesn't.
So assuming that nobody knows anything on the inside about
Jaylen Lowe's status, if I'm just thinking through this logically, Billy,
we know that he separated his shoulder during the Blue
White game. He came back, then he injured it again,

(09:14):
that same shoulder, same injury, but it was reportedly a
lesser injury than the one he had against in the
Blue White game. So if he were able to come
back from a more serious injury a few weeks ago,
logically I would think that he would be able to
come back from this one, especially if it was lesser
than the first injury.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
Yeah. Maybe, I mean, sometimes it just doesn't work out
very linear like that, And then I guess the expectation
is that you're going to have to play with pain
throughout the rest of the year.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
You know.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
It was just an interesting remark by Mark Pope that
they're going to have to talk to the agent in
the family before they make a decision. That's just college
basketball in twenty twenty five. But that you also leads
me to believe that there's an option where he could
have two years of eligibility. I guess if he does
doesn't play anymore, and you know, you can cash in
with nil money two more times instead of just maybe

(10:05):
one more time, there's and if you don't think you're
an NBA prospect, maybe that's more appealing than trying to
rush your way into the league. I don't know, Shannon.
If I just come to the University of Kentucky, I'm
gonna do everything in my power to be on that floor, right,
I mean, yeahs in bonding.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
If Jayleen Lowe and I hate to, like, you know,
just call him out. But if Trent Noah is the
opposite of that, and you're saying that Jaalen Lowe maybe
wants to set out because you know, his his draft
status or whatever it might be, or his agent says
that he shouldn't play, Trent Noah is the opposite of that.
Trent Noah is the gal here lying to Mark Pope
telling him that he's ready to go.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
He wants to get in there.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
I would like to think that Jalen low would have
that same mentality. And look, it's easy for me to
say that the kid should just play through pain, right,
but I mean that's part of sports.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
You get injured and if you can play.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Like I always thought, the mentality was if you can play,
you go out there and play because you want to.
But yeah, it's kind of a different situation these days.
Like you said, when agents get involved and you start
looking at the future and there's there possibility this player
could get drafted, could they come back for more NIL money.
It throws a wrinkle into the whole situation.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
Yeah, maybe you do play with that pain for a
while and it's like a surgery you have to have
in the off season. Anyway, you're just delaying the inevitable.
There's there's a lot of different things to take into account.
I want to be clear, I don't know anything about
the decision he's making, and I'm not going to question
his toughness either. Here as I sit with my glasses
on in the studio drinking my coffee, Shannon, That's not
what I'm doing this morning.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
You do not really want the judge toughness, are you?
I guess neither one of us probably are.

Speaker 5 (11:34):
No.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
But at the same time, like these guys are highly competitive,
despite the agents, despite the draft stock. These guys want
to be on the floor. And when you spend some
time bonding with teammates, I can imagine it's tough to
have to watch. But Jalen Lowe was arms up in
the air, you know, wacky arm crazy guy at car
lots inflatables, you know what I'm talking about. Kind of

(11:56):
looked like that during some celebrations of the last Kentucky Games.
So look like somebody that has to sit out for
a long time. But he could have to have a surgery. Shannon,
I think the ceiling of this team is severely impacted
of Jaalaen moan Oh.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
I think so if he's out for the rest of
the year. I mean, that was the guy that a
lot of us said, Hey, we're gonna put a lot
of the pressure on the offense on Jalen Lowe. He's
the guy that's got to run the team. And you know,
if you don't have him, that changes things. I know
you're deep. You got denzol Aberdeen, a guy that just
came off of a national championship team, but it's not

(12:30):
the same. Jalen low was the guy that they were
planning on being the guy to make the offense go,
and now all of a sudden, you don't have that.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
You got to adjust now, you know.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
I would just like for Jalen low to stop guarding
Mo Diabate in practice, because that's apparently how he got
this shoulder separation to begin with. Like, why is he
guarding Mo Diabate a guy who's twice his size looks.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Great in that last game. He is a beast. He's
gonna need to bring it tonight. But yes, hopefully that
was off a switch or something shit and not Jalen
low Down in the post guarding the most physical guy
on the team. But look, and that's what I get
back to. This is an opportunity for somebody to, you know,
seize the moment and become maybe the guy that replaces
Jalen Lowe or or really becomes Kentucky's go to. So

(13:11):
that's why it's exciting to me.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Yeah, So for Diabaatee is going to be exciting for
him because it's homecoming, going back to New York City.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
It's also gonna be.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Homecoming for Oway too, who hasn't really played as well
as he has so far last season. But I kind
of feel like with Oway though, we're nitpicking a little bit,
because if you look at his numbers, every game that
he's played so far this year, he scored at least
twelve points. You know, he's a guy that's scoring double
digits consistently, just like he did last season. You Know,
our criticism has been him trying to shoot the ball

(13:40):
too much and not stick to his game. But if
you look at it. By the numbers, he's not playing
that bad, and he's a guy that's gonna have to
step up big, especially with Jalen lobiing out.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
Oh tega Away is mark soops. He is a victim
of his own success. That's a good way to puss
player of the Year.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Last year it was like, oh, look, otega Oway had
another double digit game. He is incredible. Now he has
looked upon as the best player on the team. Teams
are game planning like he is the best player on
the team. And he's off to a slow start. Now
does that mean that's what's going to be for their
whole year? No, but you just hope it's not like
an NBA scout got in his ear and made him

(14:18):
kind of change his habits or anything like that. I
still haven't got a lot of faith in the guy,
and like you said, he's still producing. But I think
people are expecting a lot more out of the guy,
don't you think.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (14:28):
I think so too, And it's going to be exciting,
I think, just to see how Kentucky responds after the
Louisville game. I know we had the Eastern Illinois game.
I'm not even gonna count that. How are they going
to respond in a big time atmosphere Madison Square Garden
where the lights are brightest.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
How are these guys going to respond tonight?

Speaker 4 (14:45):
Well?

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Can you manage your emotions right? I mean, if you're
gonna flip that switch and you did it ninety minutes
too early before the Louisville game. I want to see
an intense Kentucky team that's non emotional and maybe even
composed at times.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
Shan.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
But that's what my R Pope's job is, right, That's
why you're paying them millions of dollars and now it's
time to show that you can get your team ready
for a big moment.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
That's what Billy wants to see. What do you want
to see?

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Give us a call on the Clark's Puppets Shot phone
line eight five nine two eight h twenty two eighty seven.
Hopefully we ston't have any bad pregame experiences like the
Loibll game, which we're still trying to figure out what.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
That mystery is.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Premonitions.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
H We'll take a break, we'll be right back. We'll
take your calls on the other side. It is the
KSR pre Show. Welcome back. It is the KSR pre show,
Shannon the Dude and Billy Rutledge. You can't get us
on Twitter. Normally we go to Twitter for the comments
because I guess Twitter's down today. It's down, so I
guess the backup is gonna to be our text line
text Billy five two two sixty five six six five

(15:41):
six Billy. Before the show this morning, Yeah, our boy
Tony Bannetti walked in here.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
Have you seen his mustache?

Speaker 3 (15:48):
No, not recently.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
He's just got the bushy mustache. He looks.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
He reminds me of Ned Flanders from The Simpsons The
next up.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
Early, Is he a beard or is it just no, No, it's.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Just the mustache. It's Venetti mustache only.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
But right now, I've seen a lot of people doing this,
I guess for is it no shavee November.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
I've never really done that.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
No, but but I can't do it either, Shannon, I'm sorry,
it's all patchy. I'm looking at it right now. I
just I'm looking at it.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Yeah, what does it get on social media or something?

Speaker 3 (16:18):
Yeah, it's on Facebook. Yeah, that's that is Ned Flanders.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
I bring up Venetti, not because of the mustache. That's
a sidebar. I brought it up because he came in
here and he said, hey, we're putting together a broomstick
hockey team here at iHeart, and we want to know
if you want to be a part of it. And
I said, uh, okay, what are we doing. He goes, no,
it's a it's a broomstick hockey team that we're putting

(16:45):
together to play the Mayor's office, I guess in downtown Louisville.
He said, do you want to be a part of it?
And I just said, all right, let's do it. I
don't even know what that is. I guess it's what
it sounds like. You get a broomstick and you play hockey.
I've never played that before, but it sounds like something
that might be fun. So I just agreed to be
a part of the broomstick hockey.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
So I'm in.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Just come and ask me and I go yes, I'm like,
all right, let's do it. Sounds okay.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Bring it on Craig Greenberg and your group of interns here.
I mean, he can probably fill out a whole team. Meanwhile,
Tony Veneti's got you on the squad. I mean, is
there anybody else that I heard?

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Well, there's very few of us left in the building
these teams. I mean back in the day, we had
like one hundred people working here. Paren Johnson, former U
of L basketball player, now works here.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Parin works at iHeart he does doing what is he
in sales?

Speaker 4 (17:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Yeah, well that's awesome.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
Yeah, So I think, you know, I would like to
have a put him on the team exactly, athletic player
on our broomstick hockey league. So I think peeren and
you got Tony, you got me. Yeah, it was a
few superstars.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Other than that coffee to wake up, he'll come out
for coffee.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
Look, I like our chances here.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
I don't know what we're playing for other than pride,
but we might have the best broomstick hockey team around Louisville.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
So after school camp, we had one year where I
did indoor hockey like uh, you know, not like roller
blades or anything. You're running around, Yeah, and you'd play
other other teams and it was a lot of fun.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Well, thank god it's on it's broomstick hockey and not
ice hockey, because I cannot ice skate.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
That would be an absolute disaster.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
But we've done these sorts of things over the years,
like We had a rowing team one time, Billy, did
you know that?

Speaker 3 (18:22):
No, we we guys do something for the Derby Festival
or something.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
We got out it was for charity. We got out
on the Ohio River and we we did the row
and we were we nearly ran into the side of
the bridge.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
That was nearly a disaster. Then when we had the
Lowell Fire football.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Team one year we played I think it was like
one of the other TV stations here in town. At
halftime that was the halftime entertainment. Was iHeartRadio versus Wave
at the game?

Speaker 3 (18:49):
Oh that's cool.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
Yeah, So we know we've done some ridiculous things like
this in the past, but broomstick hockey is a first
for me.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Well, hopefully it's not in a warehouse and it can
be like live stream something people can come watch, because
I would love to see Shannon the dude in goal
because well, I don't know, you're probably too skinny to
be the goalie, Shannon.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Oh, I'm not the goalie.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
I'm the guy that's trying to score. You're not putting
me out as a goalie. No, okay, Well, all this
athleticism you're gonna waste on a goalie just standing there, stationary.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
No, I'm gonna be the one running up and down
the court. So anyway, work.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
On your broom skills, Shannon, Maybe sweep around the house
for the first time in a few years, and I'll
get you in the right frame of mind.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
Hey, Kentucky, tonight is a five and a half point
favorite in the Champions Classic and you can bet it
on Draft Kings sports Book. And we're only a few
weeks into the NBA season as well, it's already wild.
You get stars going off, rookies making noise, and the

c DKJ dot Co slash Audio limited time offer. All right,
our phone number eight five nine twenty two eighty seven.
Let's go to our first caller and get Paul in Minnesota. Hey, Paul,
how are you?

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (20:21):
Paul?

Speaker 5 (20:23):
Hey, guys, So, one thing I wanted to say about
Jalen Lowe. He is not going to play this year.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
You don't take so at all.

Speaker 5 (20:31):
I know. So I think there's a difference between a
dislocation and a separation of the shoulder, and I believe
he has the dislocation, and that the difference is like
really big. It sounds the same, but it's different. I
I had this when I played in high school, and

(20:52):
once I dislocated my shoulder, it kept popping out in
and out during games, to the point where there was
one game where my shoulder popped out three different times.
I kept playing, playing through the pain, you know, the
doctor would pop it back in the joint and then
I would play. But it robbed me of my junior
college basketball career. So it is a really it's a

(21:15):
lot more serious than a separation. The separation is just
like when the top of your shoulder when the tenons
get pulled away from the clavicle and the collar bone.
So yeah, that I had to have my shoulder reconstructed
when I was when I was a young pup because
of that. So I think with his potential pro career,

(21:36):
he'll probably just have the surgery as soon as possible.
But that's my that's my take on the Jaleen line.
Got another fun factor. Billy had a fun factor. Billy,
your boy, your boy. Tom Crean is now working for
the Minnesota Timberwolves doing uh, he's doing like post game

(21:57):
stuff for the timber Wolves because you know him and
Anthony Edwards are like so close. Yeah, So it's been
it's been really fun watching him on Fox Sports North
talking about well.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
There you go go, there's your inside, there's your inside.
Uh tip right there.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
To be able to get on like NBA covers, maybe
you don't get on the NFL network, maybe you can
get into the Oh.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Yes, thanks for the call, Paul.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
I still need to hear it on Chee Cheese at
some point, Paul, you have to call back and let
me know we're up against the break here.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
Thanks you for the call.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
I appreciate it. Wow, okay, boy Tom Creane former Tom Crean,
former KSR pre Show co host.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
To come around the game. He's smart.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
I think that's probably how you got the gig. He
put it on his resume.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
It is the KSR pre Show eight five nine, twenty
two eighty seven. Well, collective soul right here. We just
added this song to the Alice Blue Gown set list. Billy,
We're gonna be playing Friday night at Tin Roof in Louisville.
Out there in uh Saint Matthew's on Shelbyville Road, So
eight o'clock, come on out and we'll see you there.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
Looking forward to it, So that'll be a fun show. Yeah,
what's the process of picking a song to add to
the catalog? Is it just something you guys like? It
is something?

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Can Shannon sing the song? That's what it is.

Speaker 4 (23:06):
I know.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
It's like, you know, can I? If I can't sing it,
we're not doing it. Sorry, I don't care what it is.
But yeah, that's usually the process.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
Now that I understand that. Lead singers in charge, that's right,
all right?

Speaker 1 (23:18):
So if Jalen Low doesn't play the rest of the season,
I guess we're crediting Paul in Minnesota, who called in
just before the break and was describing the difference between
dislocating a shoulder and separating a shoulder. I've never separated
or dislocated a shoulder. I had, you know, shoulder issues
playing baseball at Bellerman. That's the only thing that I
can compare it to. I will tell you that it
is like any kind of shoulder injury.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Is very painful.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
But I mean, hearing that, do are you more concerned
that he's not going to play this year? And I
mean if he doesn't, it changes everything, doesn't it?

Speaker 3 (23:49):
It does? It does change a lot. Paul got into
the weeds a little bit talking about clavicles, So I'm
going to let the expert handle that, Shannon. But at
the same time, I have never dislocated or broken a
bone in my life, so I don't know what that
feels like or the pain management it takes. Had some
lower back pain if we've talked about that, with stretch
labs or a first choice, but never something that serious. Shannon,

(24:13):
what bone have you broken in your body? You ever
fall off the jungle gym? Nope, back in the day,
anything like that. Never broke a bone I was a
skateboarder back in the day. You were a skater, boy, said, Lay,
absolutely was. I had my own rail and ramp at
the house and in the street. This was when I
lived in Florida. And thank god I wore a helmet
shin and one time I fell back hit my squarely

(24:35):
on that helmet hard. Would have definitely been a concussion.
So but that, you know, for the most part, Billy
r Sports keeps.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
It safe so that you could still do it. Like
if I gave you a skateboard right now, could you couldn't.

Speaker 3 (24:48):
Kick flip, but I could, Allie, I could probably board
slide on a rail.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
Yeah, okay, all right, Well.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
I feel like we got to make that happen, don't.
I mean, I could find you a skate pard. We
got one in Louisville. We actually got one in Mount Washington.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
I could take you to.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
It's been a while. It was so intimidating to go
on those half pipes, like the actual places like where
you maybe go off a half bite and go into
a foam pit. Yeah, I mean you pick up some
serious speed doing that. But yeah, as somebody that did
skate for a little while, it's amazing I never broke
a wrist or something like that, because that feels like
an initiation for something like that.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
Yep, Twitter is back up and people are asking about
the the Billy Mario rivalry, which I feel like a
low key has been stewing for a while.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
Now.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
You guys like each other, right, It's just just a
little friendly back and forth right between you and Mario.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
Well, it's a little like what happened when we started
the pre show, where you know, Matt's like Billy and Shannon.
Next rough and rowdy match. Here we go. The rivalry
is here. We like each other, dude, I mean we
get along now for the show. Do we butt head sometimes? Sure?
And that's what brothers do, right. I mean, you spend

(25:56):
enough time with somebody, you're gonna have those moments. But
you talk.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
About a little testing.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
You're talking about you and me saying that right there,
you're yeah, No, now moving forward.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
Now, let's talk about Mario.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Let's talk about Mario.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Okay. I had to check Mario a couple of times
this weekend, and I think it's it's because of me.
I've got to pick on somebody here, Shannon, Like I
you know, I'm older than him, you know, in the
pecking order and nobody I can't get many shots and
on the other guys, so I've got to give Mario
a hard time. And then he comes in here and
he's like, I'm the best pool player, you know, you know,

(26:26):
like I'm gonna run the table and things like that,
and he's, you know, struggling to get one ball in.
So I just had to put him in his place
a little bit. But you know, it's it's all brotherly love,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
No, you correct me if I'm wrong, But I think
that you feel like sometimes that from our listeners and
sometimes from Matt, you feel like that Mario can do
no wrong, and I feel like that kind of rubs
you the wrong way a thousand.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
The guy's never done anything wrong, and he's so positive
that like when he came and started doing his thing
that everybody just fully embraced him. And then you had
me over here, you know, hanging up doing the heather
thing and the dog.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
But you kind of like the middle child a little bit,
you know, and Mario was like the young child. You're
the middle child, and You're like, you know, what, why
was he getting all this?

Speaker 3 (27:09):
The youngest gets all the attention. The oldest, you know,
was the first born and got all the love at
the beginning. And you see, I'm the one forgotten here
at times. And then you know, when you supply a
veggie tray, you hear about it.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
So, Billy, between me and you, I won't forget you, buddy,
I got your back.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
You won't forget me.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
You said every end up for me. You said everybody
forget you. You just said everybody forgets you. I won't
forget you.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Thank you, buddy.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
All right, let's call the phones. Pickleball, Paul, you're up next.
What's up?

Speaker 4 (27:34):
Like, how y'all doing this morning? I sure hope you
two guys are better broom hockey than your pickleball.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
You're already talking trash this morning, Paul. Have you ever
had a separated shoulder from playing pickleball?

Speaker 4 (27:47):
Now? Talking about separated shoulder, it does remind me of something.
I'm curious. So how these guys are getting in basketball?
My son's junior year, as heard Apollo, he a week
before the season do football, and I can't remember if
they called it a dislocation or separation in the shoulder,
and he was back playing within a week. Thank goodness
it's his right shoulder. But late in the season, just

(28:09):
running to first base on an infield single, he come
up laming it was his shoulder, and the physical therapist said,
once you do that, it's real easy to continue. He
literally dislocated his shoulder again or separated, just running, not
even falling down. I guess that's funny.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Yeah, I think that would be a recurring thing that
even if jaylen Low were to play ability, it's probably
a situation where it could happen randomly at any time,
and that's just something you'd have to deal with playing
through that sort of thing.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Yeah, and if it's you know, if it's going to
dislocate when you're running like that, I mean, it's not
easy to play in pain. Like like you said, it's
easy for us to say, just go out there and play.
If it's nagging, if it's something every day, every time
you move your arm up, it's going to hurt. We
saw Lamont Butler opt to not have surgery until after
the season, and that impacted not only how he played
but his draft stock. So there's there's a lot of

(28:59):
decisions we may hear. But Paul, that's a little unfair
I thought we played pick a ball pretty well the
other day at the Country Boycot.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
I do have two quick questions, real quick. Now. I
got to get off here. Cold is calling at nine o'clock.
I've said all along this team will be as good
as one. I still think we're a little bit soft.
And I think it's Jaden Quaintan's place that will that
will be a big change to being solved. And I'm
just curious. I've got tickets to the Gonzaga game. I
was curiously if KSR was going to do a pre
show down in Nashville and that Friday. I think that's

(29:27):
only about two weeks away. And I'll get off here
and you guys have a good day, all.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Right, Paul, Thank you, Paul. Hit them straight.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
You say that in golf, don't you. No, I don't
think we are, are we, Billy?

Speaker 3 (29:38):
I don't know. I think we have plans to do
a remote on the way down there, but pregame show
before the game. I'm not sure if that will be
public or not. If it is, I'm sure it will
be announced. That's another thing I'm not questioning, though, is
or ever saying about a team is if they're soft Shannon.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Well, I mean, there are definitely games where we've seen
Kentucky teams the pass get pushed around and I kind
of felt like we saw some of that and the
Georgetown game, they were physical with us, you know, and
it's just I'm not gonna call him soft, but you
do have to become more physical, and I think that's
an issue with this team, and I think that you're
going to see that exposed, especially when we get into

(30:17):
the conference play. The SEC is just I mean, those guys,
especially in the paint, just beat the hell out of
each other every night.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
Well, that's a much better way to put it, right.
Brandon Garrison has got to be more physical down in
the paint. He has got to impose his will. Now,
is he soft? I don't know about that. I'll say
that about a whole generation, Shannon, but I don't know
if i'll say it about a specific sports player in
their play though.

Speaker 1 (30:39):
Tonight, Kentucky women's basketball also has a big game They're
taking on Purdue.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
That game is at seven o'clock.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
I think this is a really cool thing with both
games going on at the same time.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
Kenny Brooks gets it.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
He's like, you know, we realize that fans are gonna
have to make a choice. You either watch the men's
game at home or you go to the game, or
you could come to the watch the women's team tonight.
And for those of you who are going to watch
Kentucky women take on Purdue, they're going to be showing
the men's game up on the jumbo tron, which I
think is sort of a cool touch, so you can
watch that, you don't have to miss the men's game.

(31:10):
If you go to the women's game, you can watch
both of them.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
Yeah, I mean a little unfortunate it's at the same time,
but this is the best way to do it, right,
So uh we'll hear Darren Heddrick on the call on that,
or you can switch over here Tom Leach and Goose Givens.
It's a double action night. So it's one of those
days where I'm not sure what John Short would do
because you can't have two radios on mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
That's a good point. Well, I think you have the
radio on one game, the.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
TV the others. I think it's the way he'll do it.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
Yeah, yeah, So anyway, I think that's kind of a
cool thing they're doing tonight. For those of you going
to Kentucky and Purdue. Let's take one more call before
the break. We'll go to Richard Hate Richard, Good.

Speaker 4 (31:46):
Morning, Taylers, morning day.

Speaker 6 (31:49):
I got I got three takes. I think stup Saite's
job by winning Saturday. And also I think I think
Michigan State will probably playoffs, watch the takes, and probably
play us like Louisville did. They'll be saging towards the
strongs hurts. They should give Noah and and the rest

(32:15):
of the forwards a great opportunity to score all the
week's side. We work real well in the last game
with Noah and Croatian Kid being able to score. Kind
of a real coming off the weak side. Listen, y'all
have a wonderful day, and God Bess and take care
all right.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
Thanks for the com I reappreciate it.

Speaker 1 (32:34):
Yeah, I mean, I think a lot of teams will
look at what Louisville did and try to play that way.
But Billy, I don't know that there are a lot
of teams that can play that way. You know, a
knockdown three point shooting team Alabama. You know I've brought
them up a lot in comparison to Loslle and how
they play. I don't know that Michigan State is going
to be a team that's going to get thirty thirty
five three pointers up tonight.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
Well, they probably won't play us fast either. I mean,
Louisville was a lot like Kentucky in that way, very tempo.
I do like what I've seen out of Yellovich, and
I think he will continue to produce. And it was
good to see Trent Noah get in the game and
hit his first shot. I don't know if it was
Stoops's win over Tennessee Tech that has sealed his fate
and gotten his job back. But you know, these last

(33:15):
two games are really important. I mean, he could lose
these last two, and if they lose them in a
bad way, you know, who knows what happens in the offseason.
So I'm not ready to say he's saved his job yet.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
Yeah, not yet, but I think that, you know, sentiments change,
it has, it has.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
It has.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
But you lose these next two games, you're right back
to the worst case scenario that we kind of talked
about weeks ago, is getting to five wins, going five
and seven, then you're sort of in limbo and you
have a decision. If you're Mitch Barnhart, what do I
do here? Do I bring this guy back? Or do
we make a change?

Speaker 4 (33:47):
Right?

Speaker 1 (33:47):
And so, I mean, obviously I think we're all pulling
for six and six. That way, it's a little more
cut and dry.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
At least you go to that and you go to
a bowl game and you celebrate that bowl game like
you were celebrating those Music City Bowls a decade ago.
Like that is a huge accomplishment for this team from
where they were earlier this year.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
All right, we're gonna take a break before we do, though,
A billy tell us about first Choice.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
Yeah, we've been talking about First Choice Health and wellness.
If you're somebody that's in constant pain from arthritis, if
you suffer from a moniscus tear, maybe you're a truck driver,
and maybe you suffer from some lower back pain like
I did in the past, don't let pain control your life.
Contech doctor Brian guests at First Choice Health and Wellness today.
Don't go out of the country. First Choice Health and

(34:27):
Wellness is providing cutting edge regenerative treatment in New Albody, Indiana,
just minutes outside of Louisville and they're at First Choice
Health and Wellness. They have the Elite Win Back for machine,
the same machine that NBA star and former Wildcat Anthony
Davis tried. He loved that machine so much, Shannon, he
bought two for himself. First Choice Health and Wellness is

(34:49):
the only office within four hours to have this machine.
It's something that uses electrodes to treat up to three
different areas of your body at the same time. It's
a powerful divine But if you'd like to regain your
quality of life, just like Anthony Davis did, why not
you give doctor Brian Guess a call call eight one
two nine four five forty five hundred. That's eight one

(35:10):
two nine four five forty five hundred. They're located on
State Street across from Derby City Pizza in New Albody, Indiana.
And you tell doctor Guest Billy sent you. You'll get
ten percent off your next visit, get your life back
and read their over eight hundred reviews at first Choice
Health and Wellness dot com.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
All right, we're gonna take a break. We'll come right back.

Speaker 1 (35:27):
In our final segment, we've got to talk about one
Kentucky basketball recruit that narrowed his teams down and eliminated
a Kentucky I'll blame you for that, Billy. I didn't
want to talk about you know exactly what we're going.
We saved it for the last segment. We'll talk about that.
And there's a new app that lets you talk to
the dead. Would you want to do that? I'll ask you, Billy.
Coming up next, you're on the Ksrprecio final segment of

(35:51):
the KSR pre Show, and this segment of sponsored by
the Nest. And next time you go to White Castle
between now and November thirtieth, round up your mill and
every time you do that, it is going to benefit
the NEST. It's a local nonprofit that helps families in crisis,
and it means helping parents escape domestic violence. It provides
counseling where needed, and gives kids a safe place to grow.

(36:12):
Last year, the NEST provided resources to thousands of families
who had nowhere else to turn.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Every little bit adds up.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
You're doing a good deed when you round up your
meal between now and November thirtieth, when you eat at
white Castle all right, eight five, nine, two, eight twenty
two eighty seven. You might remember a few weeks Ago Ksr.
Was at a media day in Lexington and there was
a Kentucky basketball recruit that came through, Darren Rippy Jr.
This guy's a five star point guard ranked I think

(36:39):
number two guard in the upcoming class.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
And Billy, you were there in your khakis, and Matt.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
Specifically said that if we don't get this Darren Rippy
junior guy to commit to Kentucky, it's all going to
be your fault because of you and your khakis. And
I feel like you get a lot of, you know,
a lot of grief over your wardrobe here lately. You're
wearing khaki at that show. You were wearing your slacks
and your dress pants in Buffalo. I'm just saying, I'm

(37:05):
not blaming it on you, Billy. It's not your fault.

Speaker 3 (37:08):
Oh you're taking my side.

Speaker 2 (37:09):
I'm taking your side on this.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
That was not what I expected. No segment.

Speaker 6 (37:11):
No.

Speaker 3 (37:12):
First of all, yeah, god forbid, somebody dresses up for
the you know, their job, right, whether it'll be a
little pea coat or some khakis. GM. Billy was GM
billying that day for sure. But it may have you know,
you say you back me up. It may have been
my salute to him in the parking lot on my
way out.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
Okay, that's a little weird. Yeah, no contact with the players.
You probably thought, all.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
Right, I'm not I'm not allowed to talk to the players.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
No. I feel like maybe you gave off bad vibes.
You know, like you've probably heard about Kentucky fans being
a little over the top, and you know you can't
hide anywhere in Lexington because fans know who all the
players are and where they're at all times, and maybe
you just gave leaned over and said, you know, they're
stage fight a lot of that exactly, Stage five clinger
over here to watch out. This guy's weird. Maybe you

(37:56):
should try to maybe Duke instead. But anyway, he has
narrowed down his top five and Kentucky is not one
of them. And I think you know that's sort of
been the knock against Mark Pope, is not being able
to land the big recruit yet here.

Speaker 3 (38:09):
At Kentucky, well outside of Kentucky. Right, Jasper was a
great get, so was Malachai Moreno, but that it's a
fair question about getting some of these national recruits. Now,
if Jalen Lowe has this surgery, he's still got two
years of eligibility. Then maybe he looks at the situation
where there's too many hens in the henhouse, Shannon. But
I am gonna still keep wearing my khakis. I will
say I want a Haybil throwing contest in those khakis

(38:31):
as well. So, I mean, you could be at work,
or you could be winning athletic feats, Shannon. You can
do anything in khaki's.

Speaker 1 (38:39):
In khaki mind, I don't think I own a pair
of khakis. I don't think I have one pair.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
Oh, that's a shame.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
I had him back in high school because we had
to wear them for like our dress code.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
You had to wear khakis in a you know, your unipolo.
He had a uniform, Beybe.

Speaker 3 (38:51):
That's where it started for me too.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
All right, So, Billy, are you familiar with the Disney
Channel show Austin and Alli. No, okay, Well, there's a
guy from this show and he has created an AI
app that will apparently allow you to talk to dead relatives.
And you know, I'm wondering like this is going to

(39:14):
be in the future, probably just a normal thing where
you can get on AAI you could talk to, you know,
your dead relatives or whoever. You want, because AI, as
we know, is just gone completely out of control. My
question to you is, though, would you want to talk
to a dead relative through.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
An AI app?

Speaker 1 (39:30):
You know it's AI, you know it's not real, But
would that bring you a sense of comfort or would
it just freak you out?

Speaker 4 (39:37):
No?

Speaker 3 (39:37):
I am going to stay far away from this, but
I am not going to say that this does not
serve a purpose to somebody out there. I think it's
really important to have that type of closure when you
lose a loved one or someone close to you. I
was able to have that with my grandma going to
her funeral and you know, celebrating her life with my
family members. Some people don't get that closure a lot

(39:58):
of time. So, like, if you were to die in
a way that you weren't able to say goodbye to
your family, maybe that's important for somebody to say goodbye
like that, Shannon, But to me, I would know it
was AI.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Right, that's the whole thing, you know that it is.

Speaker 3 (40:13):
It's different than like somebody recording a message before their
funeral and then then that being played, right, I think
that's still their words. But like just to play AI

and reality.
