Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome everyone.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
It is the KSR Pre Show, Monday, November twenty fourth.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
It's Turkey Week.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
I'm Shannon to the Dude, being joined by Billy Rutledge
over in Lexington. And you give us a call on
the Clark's Pumping Shop phone line at eight Bob nine
two eight Oho twenty two eighty seven. You're a whiskey
thief Call of the day. Get also sent us a
text at five oh two two six five six six
five six. And the KSR Pre Show is being brought
to you by Italics Fine Italian Dining in Lexington. A

(00:28):
lot going on.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Over the weekend. We'll get to all of it.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
And before we do that, though, got to say hello
to my co host, Billy r Sports, who actually gets
a couple of days off this week.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
We were just talking before we went on the air.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Billy, you know you used to only work an hour
a day and now I think you're challenging me for
the hardest working man in radio. You're not going to
take the title from me, but you're at least a contender.
How are you doing this morning?

Speaker 3 (00:49):
I'm great, Shannon, that's very kind. Are you the same
co host that I've had over the past four years.
That was a very nice sentiment of you this morning.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
I get a day off for the first time in
maybe a month this week, so I'm really looking forward
to that. November almost over, which is great. This crossover
season has been eventful. But you know, I've already laughed
a couple of times this morning talking to you before
the show started, So I'm ready to go. I'm excited
for some of the topics that we're going to get
to today, and I guess it's the three day week

(01:17):
that's made me a little giddy this morning. So good
to be with you.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Man, Before we get going, I did see an email
that came through that we are going to start running
promos on iHeartRadio that say basically that we are guaranteed
to be human beings on the radio. No AI generated
news here with iHeartRadio. So I just want to confirm
that Billy and I are absolutely one hundred percent human.
We are We're all human here. But I thought that

(01:42):
was kind of a strange thing that we are now running.
I guess there's a lot of news out there, well
there is on social media that to AI generate it,
but just lust anybody's confused. We are one hundred percent
human here, Billy.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Well, there may be should be a disclaimer before the
show starts, but it doesn't have to be that we're human.
I think people know that now, at least hopefully still
able to tell when something's AI. But it's getting much
closer to just not being able to tell. And you
know when we talked about was it the AI music
that's been going around. Yeah, I don't know, the Velvet

(02:16):
Sundown or something like that. One of that band that
was all AI that was making waves a couple months ago.
I mean that's getting scarier too, so running promos all
one hundred percent human beings right here, Shannon. That's why
how you know our takes are so bad is because
because we're human.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Somebody that I'm not sure is human. Diego Pavia was
a video game over the weekend.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Man.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
He was absolutely incredible for Vanderbilt. Kentucky loses forty five
to seventeen in a game that Kentucky really was never in.
I mean it was forty five to three going into
the fourth quarter. Vandy puts in some of their backups.
They take Diego Pavia out Kentucky tacks on a couple
of touchdowns to make it forty five to seventeen. But Billy,
here we are man. The loss to Vanderbilt sets up

(03:00):
the scenario that we talked about weeks ago, where it
could be Kentucky finishing with a five and second five
and seven record, or it could be Kentucky going bowling
with a win over Leville. But what were your takes
on Vandy and Kentucky over the weekend.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Disappointing, Man, really disappointing. I know, Vandy is on the
cusp of a playoff and Diego Pavia's is their generational quarterback.
But Kentucky had won three in a row. I was
expecting them to go down there and compete. They hadn't
lost in Nashville in like a decade, so I mean, look,
this is a spot where you could have seen Kentucky
really shown that they had turned a corner. But their

(03:37):
defense was down five starters and it looked like it.
I mean they Vanny just took it to him from
the jump, and when Kentucky's offense needed to respond, they
had twelve plays in eighteen yards to start the game.
It was you know, two, three and outs, and you know,
it just wasn't good. It was not a good showing
from Kentucky. It led to what seemed to be a
party in Nashville the entire time. Tyler Thompson and others

(04:00):
talked really highly about the environment down there in Nashville
that already looks to be better than what Kentucky has.
But you know, you do have to tip your cap
to Pavia. Thirty three to thirty nine, four hundred and
eighty four yards and five touch six.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Actually he ran for one.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Did he run one in?

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Yeah, so he threw for five and then had six
because he also ran one in.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
That's Josh Allen numbers. That's how many touchdowns he scored.
Hooters throws up to Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
I want to say it right now, Give the damn
Heisman Trophy to Diego Pavia. There is nobody who is
more valuable to their team in college football than Diego
Pavia is to Vanderbilt. You take Pavi away from Vandy,
they're a five and seventeen, maybe six and six at best,
But now they've got nine wins, looking to have their
best season in school history if they can beat Tennessee

(04:45):
coming up this weekend. But you're right about Kentucky. Though
their defense was depleted, Pavia just picked on them. And uh,
like I said, put up some video game numbers against Kentucky.
But the more pressing issue here, I need to know, Billy,
was Diego Pavia's mom at the game?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Like was she there?

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Because I didn't, I didn't catch it. Was was Pavia's
mom there?

Speaker 5 (05:05):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (05:05):
God? She was she there?

Speaker 4 (05:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (05:07):
She was there and we all saw it. We all
saw it because we could not watch the game without
seeing it. Shannon, how crazy?

Speaker 6 (05:15):
I mean?

Speaker 3 (05:16):
I felt like I was in a Twilight Zoe episode.
As many times as they showed Diego Pavia's mom last night.
Were you going insane? Just like I was watching during
the game, because I feel like we all had the same.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Sung I I tweeted out that not even Taylor Swift
got that much camera time when she was at the
Super Bowl. True, you know, we were talking about how
Taylor Swift was gonna you know what was the over
under on how many times Taylor Swift would be shown
when the Chiefs were in the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Diego Pavia's mom.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
I mean they showed her at one point when they
scored it when Vandy scored a touchdown, they showed her
six different times, like they would cut away from the game,
go to Pavia's mom, go back to the game, back
to six different times in like thirty seconds. So I
think there had to be like a Pavia's Mom cam.
Like there was one guy they just said, okay, camera guy,

(06:01):
You're just gonna sit here and just film Pavia's mom
the entire game. And they're like, look, I like Diego Pavia.
I like Pavia's mom. She seems like she'd be fun.
But even I was like, all right enough already, Like
she got more airtime than he did.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Yeah, And if you're Diego Pavia, do you see your
mom being on TV that much? I just I don't know.
I'm trying to think if my mom was on TV
doing that while I'm trying to play the game, I'd
be a little embarrassed. I want her to have fun,
but like her grinding the rail, Shannon, then like it
just got worse and worse as the game went on.
Now you also have to think about the TV directors.

(06:36):
So when you're back in like the TV booth, there's
one person that's calling out which camera to take, So
like ready, camera two, take camera two. All right, ready
camera three and take camera three. So that's happening behind
the scenes. I mean that guy was the biggest Pavia
Mom fan.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Of the group.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
He had to be like staying on camera for the
entire time. All right, ready camera four, Take camera.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
For there's a blowout. You know where the ratings are.
Tune into see diego Papa is Mom. At one point
she I don't know who this guy was, but at
one point she reached out and grabbed this guy's hand
and kissed his hand.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Did you see that? That was weird. There was so
much going on there.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
And look for a team that has been terrible for
so many years, and I'm talking about Vanderbilt, they did
have a party atmosphere down there. I mean it's amazing,
like they get a new stadium when all of a
sudden people show up and it's a great atmosphere for
Vanderbilt football.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
But yeah, Kentucky, though, got to get back on track.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
It all comes down to this coming up on Saturday
for the Governor's Cup. And you know, louisvill has I
don't know what's happened to them. They've just completely fallen
off and all of a sudden, they look very beatable.
You know, going into the year, this looked like a
game that you would probably lose if we were being
honest at the beginning of the season. But now you
looked at how much louisll has struggled over the last

(07:52):
few weeks. Now this is a very gettable game and
a huge game coming up on Saturday where you want
to beat your rival. And how sweet would it be
to be Bowl eligible by not only beating Louisville but
beating Vince Merrill I mean, thinking about that, the guy
who has been so anti Louisville all the year as
he was at Kentucky crosses over to the dark side,
and now you get a chance to not only beat

(08:12):
Louisville but also take it to our boy Vince as well.

Speaker 6 (08:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
I mean, if there's dysfunction here in Lexington, think about
the last few weeks over in louisv Wine. I mean,
this was a Cardinals team that had beat the number
two team in the country in Miami and has just
collapsed since then. Their quarterback, Miller Moss, throws the team
under the bus and then there's a weight room accident
before the game. The next game starts and he doesn't play,
so I mean they're completely out. And you know, I've

(08:39):
always said that the game being the first game of
the year was the best. It was because you had
a whole summer to trash talk and you didn't know
how good the teams were, so you really were just
talking out of your ass a little bit, and it
was it was good for the rivalry. Well, this is
gonna I mean, this is going to define the season,
is it not. I mean, you win this game, I
mean there is a lot more goodwill than if you

(09:01):
were to lose these last two. Go into the offseason
five and seven and find yourself in limbo. I mean,
if you're able to beat Vince Marrow and Jeff Brohm
and go six and six, I just think the entire
sentiment of the offseason has changed. There's a lot on
the line on this game, and that's how it should
be for the Battle of the Blue Gers.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
You're exactly right, and that's why you keep this game
on the schedule at all costs, because this is built
up to all the drama that college football should be
going in.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Just a few weeks ago, Stoops was all but fired.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
He comes back, wins three in a row gets them
in the chance to be Bowl eligible. In the last
two weeks of the year, you lose the game against Vandy.
You got to put that one behind you, and now
you look ahead to this game on Saturday for the
chance to be Bowl eligible. There is the one reason you,
if for any reason, leave it on the schedule, because
you want to be able to go Bowl eligible against

(09:52):
your biggest rival, not against the team like Tennessee Tech
or anybody else that you could possibly replace that Louisville
game with.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
This is why you keep it on the schedule.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Yeah, I mean, I guess if you had a FCS team,
you could get to that six win mark.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Yeah, But I mean, do you want to get there
that way? Isn't it all about how you get there?
Or are you just like the guy that's like, just
be Bowl eligible. I don't care if we beat the
school for the Blonde.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Well, I'm not. I mean, sports is, you know, is
a shared experience. It's the water cooler talk after Kentucky
beats Louisville and you get to tell you get to
brag about it for a year. Louisville's had those bragging
rights because Kentucky got killed last year. In Lexington. It
wasn't even close. It was embarrassed and Cutter Bowley made
the start in that game and he ended up getting
bench before the game was over. I mean, this is

(10:38):
the redemption arc that a lot of the guys on
this roster and Mark Stoops need, you know. And look,
it's been year It's year thirteen of Mark Stoops and
you're losing forty five to three going into the fourth
quarter of Vanderbilt. I mean that stinks. I mean, you
are down in the dumps. There's no other way to
put it, but a win versus Louisville to complete a
comeback at one point of the year in what your

(10:59):
where do they two? Five, three and five? Shannon So,
I mean it was I mean, you thought this season
was a pipe dream. So for them to be able
to battle back shows a lot about their resolve. But
they've got to do it one more time. They've got
to show their resiliency one more time this week. Get
off the mat. I know you were embarrassed in Nashville,
but that doesn't mean anything when it comes to this

(11:20):
game on Saturday with the state watching.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
I'm just glad that Cutter's all right. He went down
it looked like a nasty hit that he.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Took neck injury.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Yeah yeah, And Calzada came in and tried to get
his money up, but he threw an interception through for four.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
That was his moment. I mean, they needed him, and
then he threw that pick and that did not help.
That didn't help the sentiment. It was like the fastest
first quarter of all time. I mean that the whole
thing lasted like twenty five minutes, and I was I
was thrilled with that. And then they decided they needed
style points for the college football playoff, so Pavia kept
on throwing.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Yeah, yeah, Well, I mean they took him out though
at the end. I mean, they could have kept him
in the entire game and let him throw for seven
or eight touchdowns. So I mean that's something at least they.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
Did hop that to count.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Please they didn't do the James Franklin and try to
just completely run the score up on him.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
When they got the forty five, they called the dogs off.
But yeah, I mean for Kentucky football, you just gotta
gotta put that one behind you and look forward. And
we'll talk about it coming up here on the KSR
pre Show eight five to nine to two eighth twenty
two eighty seven. Uh, by the way, did you see
the Vandy mascot flip the ATV on live TV?

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Well, I thought that was a sign, Like I thought
it was going Kentucky's way.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
It could have been bad.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
I mean, they had the Vanderbilt Commodore on a on
an ATV for some reason. He immediately wiped out flipped
the ATV. But uh, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
He looked like it was okay.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
So that was that was kind of a crazy thing
that could have been really bad on live TV.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
You ever been on one of those ATV four wheeler
go out in the woods or something like that.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Not in a mascot uniform, but yeah, I've been on
plenty of four wheelers.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
You'd bet you gotta be careful sharp turn. You can
go like that pretty easily.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Well, we'll talk Kentucky basketball and uh, Kentucky win's basketball.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
I get a big win over the weekend over Lois.
We'll talk about that and a whole lot more.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
It is the KSR pre Show eight five to nine
two eight oh twenty two eighty seven.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
We'll be right back. Welcome back. It is the KSR
pre Show.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Shannon the dude, Billy Rutledge give it was a call
eight five, nine and two, eight oh twenty two eighty seven.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
What are your takes on this Kentucky football team? Are
you out now? Like you know?

Speaker 2 (13:19):
Is it to the case, Billy, where we're so fickle
that week to week we don't know how to react
whether or not we like this football team or believe.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
In this football team.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
Yeah, but yeah. I heard Van Heiles on the Leech
Report does a great job with Tom say that the
moment was too big for Kentucky, and I was just
listened a little disappointed to hear that Shannon thought they
had built a ton of momentum. This is a Vandy
team that you've had success against in the past, but
it's just a different type of bandy. And that's just
college sports now right where you can reload and you
can create a whole new identity in one or two years.

(13:51):
And they just struck gold with Pavia, who's now in
his second year with Vandy. So hopefully they can get
off off the mat and respond that's what you have
to do in football. But they don't. There's gonna be
some big question marks going into this offseason.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Yeah, hey, let's talk a little.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
Kentucky women's basketball got a big win over Louisville yesterday,
seventy two sixty two. They're now seven or no, they're
off to a hot start. We had a couple of players,
Clara Strack tianni Key both the seventeen I think Morgan
head what seventeen, no, nineteen points as well.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
So the Louisville team.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
That beat Kentucky men's basketball. At least the women's got
a little revenge over Louisville over the weekend in the
women's side.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
Yeah, needed them to come through. Tianni Key had seventeen
last year, hear, so for her to get seventeen again.
She's the cardinal killer. And this is this is a
good Kentucky team. They won their third quarter twenty to
six in that game and posted the video of them
dancing in the locker room afterwards. Kenny Brooks, you know,
he has done a great job in his first couple

(14:51):
of years, but he also really understands the importance of
this game. Is always talking about how important it is
to beat Louisville. And you saw them, you know, have
that urgency last year year with Georgia a Moore and
they've done it again, and so I think we've got
some real high hopes for this Kentucky women's team this year.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
Men's team beats Loyal at Maryland and another blowout. I mean,
is it to the point, Billy, where we don't know
anything about this Kentucky ben's basketball team other than when
they play bad teams, they're gonna win by forty. When
they play good teams, they're just gonna get beat. It's
what it feels like we've seen so far this year.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
Yeah, talk about resolve. We need to see this this
basketball team tested and respond against one of these actually
good teams. But good to see moreno get in the
starting lineup. He played well, and then Cam Williams also
who started at the four, He had his best game
thirteen points, nine rebounds, four assists, rocking the alf ro. Now,

(15:42):
I mean talk about quick games. That was maybe the
quickest we'll get all year. So enjoyed the game versus Loyola.
And good to hear that Jaden Quaintons is doing two
on two drills afterwards as well. It sounds like he's
ramping up to come back soon.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
And the first Mark Pope Show of the year, I
think is tonight tonight after a studio as well, so correct, Yeah,
we got Tennessee Tech coming up for the men's team,
and then you got North Carolina. So there's going to
be your next couple of tests. It's going to be
a week or two before we or I guess a
couple of weeks before we get to see Kentucky gets
some real competition again. North Carolina, Gonzaga, Saint John's. You
gotta get what at.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Least two of those, wouldn't you say here in the
non conference?

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Yeah? Yeah, I don't know. I'm trying to adjust my
expectations after the year. I mean we beginning of the year,
we're talking about how many non conference losses they're gonna have,
and we're just saying three four. I mean, now it
could be even more. You know how good Gonzaga is
this year, and you know Rick Patino's gonna bring it,
so Kentucky's got to figure it out quick. Things are

(16:42):
gonna ramp up before SEC play. And it's just that
timing that Louisville game was so weird. It's thrown everything off, right.
I mean the football game hasn't even happened yet.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Hey, five nine two twenty two eighty seven. We got
Joe up first. Ajoe, what's that?

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Joe?

Speaker 6 (16:56):
Hey?

Speaker 4 (16:56):
Thank you gentlemen. H Shannon. The big game for girls
is coming up Wednesday against Maryland. Years ago you asked
me who would be a good head coach if we
didn't get coach Brooks, and I said miss Freeze of Maryland.
So this is another big test for Kentucky and the
reason why is caused the recruitment beating Lowelle. And if

(17:16):
he can get this win against Maryland, it would get
us Our recruited would be a lot better and hence
we're never gonna maybe get where Connecticut and the l
ISSU and SA carline is. But to get to that
next level, win over Maryland would go a long way.
And in football, to the Issury report is going to
be everything. Whoever has who most of our best players

(17:38):
on the field Saturday will probably win the game. And
right now I don't know who Kentucky's gonna throw out there,
but if he can get a couple off the Usury list,
they might have an actually chance pull the upset. You
all have a great day, Thanks a lot.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
Thanks for you know Saturday. May he just come down
Billy to who wants it more? You know, Lovell is
already BOL eligible. Their season's kind of falling apart. Could
he is going to come in with I think a
lot of hunger to try to get to six and
six to become Bowl eligible. So I think it just
may come down to that who wants it more?

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Yep, It's a motivation game. Motivation is really important at
the end of the year, so you know, I think
both of these teams are going to be motivated to
beat their rival though. And on Kenny Brooks, he did
just get a five star point guard in Greenway, so
I mean things are looking up when it comes to
recruiting that way. But Joe's right, a win versus another
program like Maryland would go a long way. So not

(18:30):
only that, the volleyball teams in the SEC team right now,
yeah yeah, so a shout out to them getting their
first win. I think they play Tennessee tonight.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
In the semi finals, and if they win tomorrow, we're
gonna have a watch part. If they win tonight, we're
gonna have a Chs Bar watch party tomorrow. So come
on out watch the volleyball team at Chaos Bar. And
you know, who's the better team on campus? Is it
the women's team or the volleyball team. Right now, it's
the volleyball team. But if this women's basketball team keeps
rolling and gets a big win over Maryland, who is

(18:59):
a top ten team, we may be talking about the
women's basketball team.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
I love what Canny Brooks is doing, but I think
Craig Skinner and that volleyball team is in a different stratosphere.
I mean, another SEC title is at nine in a row, Shannon.
I'm not sure exactly on the number, but they've been
magnificent and so I cannot wait to see what they
do in the NCAA tournament. But let's take care of
business and do well in the SEC as well.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
Well, it's Thanksgiving week and you can bet on all
the games coming up this week. A lot of college
basketball like invitationals, those tournaments that I would actually like
to see the men's basketball team get back to doing.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
But that may be the case.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Because Caliperry, I think, put together this schedule for the
men's basketball team this year.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
This is the last one of them.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
Pope gets to sort of take over for the scheduling
from here on out, so maybe they'll get back to.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
You want to go to Maui?

Speaker 2 (19:45):
Yeah, that would be awesome. I've never been to Hawaii,
you know. Of all the states that I have been to,
Hawaii is not one of them.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
The women's team's going to Puerto Rico, I think soon.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
Yeah, So anyway, Costa Rico one of the two.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Yep and you can bet on all the games DraftKings

Anybody know who's who's pick didn't hit?

Speaker 3 (20:42):
Well, I don't.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
I don't want to pile on, but no, I know,
I mean that was a rhetorical question. I can tell
you who's picked didn't hit one? Ryan LeMond did not
hit mine? And uh mine hit by half a point
was sixty and a half.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
So speak guys. Even Drew came through with the Western
Kentucky who covered against LSU.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
That was a great show, by the way, great pick.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
They could have won that game. I mean they dropped
a touchdown on a trick play in the first half
that could have completely changed that game. There was also
a moment where they honored Brian Kelly's son on senior day.
So he came out and he had a shirt on
underneath that he was showing the camera that said free BK.
I guess the administration wouldn't let Brian Kelly come for
his son's senior day because they didn't feel it was

(21:25):
you know, appropriate, it.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Would let him. They would't let him in the stadium.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
No, so what if you snuck in with like a
mustache on, like a thick mustache and well oversized glasses.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
He sticks out like a sore thumb down in Louisiana
always has so I don't know how how successful that
would have been, but hey, good job Hilltoppers covering that spread.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
Yeah, absolutely, but it does feel like a bad look
if you're not even gonna allow the guy in the
stadium to see his son right.

Speaker 3 (21:49):
Free BK three BK And then they're they're talking about
that story, and then LSU fumbles and Western runs back.
The fumble recovery was It was a great moment in college.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
Sports this year.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
Eight five, nine two, eight oh twenty two eighty seven.
We're gonna take a break. We'll take more of your
phone calls. Coming up next, we'll talk about some other
news topics going on, plus Billy the iHeartRadio, Thanksgiving pot Luck.
You reminded me before the show is coming up tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
Tomorrow, and you know I always the.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
Guy that shows up and doesn't bring anything I need
to what I should bring. We'll talk about that coming
up in just a few minutes. On the other side,
It is the KSR Pre Show.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
We'll be right back.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
It is the KSR Pre Show. We rocked this one
out Friday. Alice Blue Gown ten Ruth Pick. Thanks to
everybody who came out to see as. Corey Price was there,
Kelly was there, Christina, the KSR crew, well not not
not the KSR listeners. I should say, none of the
KSR crew showed up. But it's okay, it's all right.
I understand you guys got other things going on. There

(22:48):
was a game game. I understand, it's okay, okay.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
Do you have a TV on in the back?

Speaker 1 (22:54):
We did, We did cope.

Speaker 5 (22:56):
You know.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
The good thing about playing there is they had the
game on the entire time, so you could watch the
game and we.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Were just like the background music.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
So I didn't know nobody no noise ordinances this time
or anything like that.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
No, not at all. At belly R Sports.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
At Shannon the Dude on Twitter, Joe writes and it says,
I would rather never go to a bowl game than
to drop the Lovel game from the schedule.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Lovel game is more meaningful than any bowl game.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
If you want to go to a bowl, you better
get better and beat Louisville. I'm with you, man, like
you got to keep that game on the schedule. And
I feel like that's when we go to the nine
game SEC schedule. I feel like that game is most
likely going to be dropped, don't you think.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
I hope not. There's been some thoughts about having to play,
or more than thoughts, I think provisions that you've got
to play a certain amount of power for teams out
of conference. So you know that looks like that will
save some of these rivalries in the SEC. You know,
I just I'm pessimistic about it. You know, they want
the easiest road possible to six wins. When you're defined

(23:57):
by how many wins you get. I mean, Mark Stoops
will be in limbo whether he has five wins or
six wins here, and what will go a long way
is getting a free win versus stinky team. So I'm
with you. I mean, I love playing these games, but
we know the motivation for why they'll go to that change.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
You're right about the narrative though of the offseason being
completely different if you win this game on Saturday, So
really it all comes down to this one game. You
lose this game, I think there's going to be a
lot of people that are still saying you got to
get rod of Stoops, you got to get them out
of here. Five and seven is not acceptable. You win
this game, you go to a bowl game. It completely

(24:32):
changes the entire narrative for the offseason. Let's say you
win this game on Saturday, you go to a bowl
whoever you play, you're gonna have a fighting chance against them.
You win those two games, you finish with a seven
and six record. So what happens here on Saturday completely
changes the conversation that we're having in the offseason.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
It does, but I think there's a lot of truth
in what our collar Joe said. You know who's on
the injury report and who's not. I mean, this team
is depleted, and you really saw it in that game.
And versus Vanderbilt. Brad White's a really good defensive coordinator.
But you know, at times when you've got a second
or third string safety playing corner, it's you can only
do so much. Now, one of their starters, I believe,

(25:12):
was getting burnt on one of the first plays of
the game. So obviously there are mistakes that were made,
but man Pavia was just letting it rip.

Speaker 6 (25:20):
Man.

Speaker 3 (25:20):
It completed like the first five or six passes, and
then they started throwing deep and he was on the money.
I mean, there were some of those passes you could
not throw better. It fades to the end zone some
deep balls. I mean, that guy was really good. And
then you know, to top it all off, Theovon's there
taking his mom to midfield for his senior night.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
Yeah, that relationship is as odd you know, with Theovon
and Diego Pavia, and Theovon obviously has a thing for
Pavia's mom. Like, are we talking about the real possibility
that Theovon could be Diego Pavia's stepdad.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
I don't know, it's so bizarre. And then the video
of Pavia, you know, going out with ones with Glenny,
balls and and and it's you know, that's a fun group.
But you know, he's a character. He's a star of
college sports right now. And that's why if Vandy were
to make the playoffs, it'd be you know, it'd be
a lot of fun watching him.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
But on the the Lobile game though, you know, Lobo
has got some serious issues at quarterback too.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
So I mean, if you're worried.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
About Kentucky's defense being you know, injured and banged up,
the good thing is you've got a team you're playing
on Saturday that is having some major issues at quarterback,
So maybe that gives you a balances out a little
bit and give you a little more hope for the
game if you're worried about injuries on the defense.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
And Brom's a quarterback whisperer. So a little surprised they're
having this many issues this late in the year, but yeah,
I mean they I think they're all completely out on
Miller Moss. They went to the backup last week. This
is the Vince Merriw game. I mean, I can't look
at it any other way after everything that's happened, after
he chose the program that thought was better set up

(26:53):
for the next five years or so. This would be
a iconic Mark Stoops win, a legacy win if he
were to get it. If not, then I think, you know,
people are starting to have conversations the postgame show. Obviously
people were negative after a big loss like that, but
really the whole postgame show was us in callers trying
to figure out how Kentucky would raise the money for
the buyout if donors didn't want Stoops out. I mean,

(27:15):
what are other ways for Kentucky Athletics to raise that money?
If the boosters that could give those donations still wanted stoops,
So I mentioned a car wash, bikini car wash, like
a bake sale, you know, like a ways they can wash.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
You think you think that many people are going to
come have their car wash to get stoops out of
the Lexington.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
That's how I raised them.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
If they get blown out like they did against Vandy,
then yeah, I think they would.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
I'm telling yeah, the whole perception changes based on this
last game. Maybe we'll be uh doing car washes here
in a month or so.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
Let's go to Nick. Hey, Nick, good morning, Hey guys,
good morning.

Speaker 7 (27:53):
Hope you guys have a good Thanksgiving this week. Yeah,
just a couple of positive comments out the basketball game
on Friday night. I was really like him when I
was seeing out of Kam Williams. I think he was
like a plus forty on the court. And I don't know,
I'm going to try to be a bit of an
optimist here. I think we got a long ways to go,
and I want to see him do well against the
league competition. But I also was a big Blue Mannus

(28:17):
and I see a world where down the stretch in
this season we could get Yellovich, Cam Williams, Trent No obviously,
Colin Chandler's like shooting lights out right now from three.
I think there could be a world that we actually
do have a pretty darn good shooting team and we
could really kind of stretch the floor of this offense.
I'm just curious to hear your'alls thoughts on that.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
Thanks for the call, Nick, appreciate it. Thank you, Nick.

Speaker 2 (28:36):
I mean, yeah, I mean this is so early in
the season, and I know we've all overreacted to the
two losses they've had this year, but I still think
he got a lot of talent on this team. They
just got to be healthy and I'm going to, as
I said on Friday, try to reserve my judgment on
this basketball team until we get as healthy as we
can be. Still don't know anything about Jayalen Lowe, right,

(28:56):
Is there any correct new news on his injuries to
anything other than we're going to see how the rehab goes.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
Mark Pope called him day to day forever.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Yeah, So I don't know that we're going to get
any update on his condition tonight on the Mark Pope Show.
But you know, I'm still waiting for Quaintance to come
back and when he's back whenever that is, regardless of
what happens with Jaylen Lowe. That's you know, if Lowe's out,
we're gonna have to just you know, deal with it
and realize that this is the most healthy we're going
to be when Quaintance comes back. But until then, I'm

(29:26):
just gonna reserve judgment on how good this team really
can be.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
Yeah, well that may be a luxury that you never get. Like,
I'm hopeful that they get to a point where they're
all healthy, but we're not sure, you know. I think
a big part of it is going to be the
lineups that Mark Pope puts out there. With Moda Bat
out with an ankle injury, that gave them an opportunity
to put Cam Williams at the four, and then you
had a lot more shooting. So you know, when Modia
Bat is healthy, when Jade and Quaintance is healthy, is

(29:52):
are we going to try to log jam it up
and try to play ten plus minutes for Moreno Brandon
Garrison and Jane A Quaintance. I mean, if some oh,
then it's really going to limit your possibility to play
lineups with people like Cam Williams at the four. So
you know how much they use that depth is going
to be really important later in the year. You know,
it was good to see Otega alway get off to

(30:13):
a good start. It wasn't his best production throughout the
entire game, but I think he scored three of the
first four baskets, three of the first five something like that.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
Yeah, And so that was kind.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
Of the sense of urgency you wanted to see from Otega.
But kind of back to what you said, Shannon, do
it against good opponent.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
Still worried about the physicality of this team, though, when
you play a team like they played on Friday, Kentucky
should have just been at the line. I mean a lot, right,
I mean, you would think that you would have more
than nine free throw attempts in the game. And that's
another thing. Free throw shooting is not being good. Four
to nine from free throws. That's not a problem now
when you're playing a team like that. When you get

(30:47):
into conference though, that's the difference in winning and losing
a game. So I'm still worried about the physicality and
getting to the line, and this team really hasn't done
that so far this year.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
Right, And you know, what's the role of a guy
like Trent Noah is he going to be somebody that
can play fifth teen twenty minutes, or is he going
to be somebody that plays somewhere between five to ten.
It's you know, Mark Pope has shown that he's not
gonna play one guy more than thirty minutes. It looks
like and so one that affects recruiting, but two, you
know it's gonna give guys opportunities. So let's keep Let's
kind of hoping that Colin Chandler keeps staying hot though.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
John Short, Hey, John, I know you like that volleyball
win the women's teams rolling.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
I know you're happy.

Speaker 6 (31:24):
Yes, say I mean Ray when we had women's fatsifall
and you think we involve. We're gonna be Tennessee like
we'll see Tennessee tonight and we're gonna win. We're gonna
be John Pailfrey by fifty bigginess wins. Say we're gonna
be Vince maryl By five biggest this Saturday. I'm not
by saying can be little will be Vince Maryrill.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
There you go, Yeah, it's personal, that's right, John's get
out the thing against Vince.

Speaker 6 (31:46):
I don't against I just we're gonna beat him that's all.

Speaker 1 (31:48):
John Short versus Vince Merrill. I'd i'd pay to see
you that.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
I need some photoshophs of that.

Speaker 6 (31:54):
I think so, and we going to I can tell
you to a bowl game this year that that'd be
good and so and that's That's what I'm gonna believe in.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
So there we go, all right, John, I appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
Thank you for the thank you, John. Yeah, I mean
I'm hopeful they can get to a bowl game. Kentucky
fans did get to Nashville. It looked like Big Blue
got in.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
I was surprised. I mean there was like three or
four sections that looked like that. We're all Kentucky fans. Yeah,
so you know as much as Vanderbilt. Actually Vanderbilt actually
has fans showing up for their games, which is a
big change from years past.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
There were a lot of a lot of Kentucky fans
in there.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
And a shout out to the guy that, uh speaking
of Kentucky fans that stuck around to the very end,
who was wearing the face paint. He had the Road
Warriors like shoulder pads with the spikes on him. Oh
I saw this, Yeah, Like, whoever that guy is? He
was like the one guy that stuck around to the
very end even though it was a blowout. But I

(32:54):
love that he dressed up for the Kentucky Vandy game
and shoulder pads.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
Thank you for your service. I mean, that's that's committed
when you're this deep in the season and stay until
the end like that.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
All right, let's take one more, Dennis, You're up next.
Hey Dennis, Hey, guys.

Speaker 5 (33:07):
How y'all doing today?

Speaker 1 (33:08):
Good?

Speaker 6 (33:10):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (33:10):
You know, Matt made some really good points on the
postgame show about if it comes down to it, where
are we getting the money from the payoff? Marks? Are
going to open up the checkbook? But really, after that
whole talk, at the whole you know show, not once

(33:34):
was Brad White mentioned.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
You know, the defense. Yeah, and again and thanks for
the call, Dennis. We appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
I give them a little bit of a pass just
because of the injuries that they had. I mean, does
that fair abilly to give them a pass because you've
got two or three guys you know, out banged up defense.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
I mean, if they had a healthy defense and they.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
Let diego Pavia just go off like you did, maybe
you know, it's a different conversation.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
Right, yeah. I mean this was a team very depleted,
five starters down from on the defense against a quarterback
that is in the conversation for the Heisman. So I mean, look,
that doesn't completely excuse it. You want your team to compete.
We saw Brad White and this defense bounce back after
an abysmal performance versus Tennessee play really two good games
versus Auburn versus Florida. Know that guy has done a

(34:23):
lot for many years, just like Mark Stoops has. But
you had to evaluate everybody at the end of the year, right, yep.
I just don't see Stoops sticking around and Brad White
not still.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
Be in here, do you.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
No? No, I think Brad White, I think that's a
package deal.

Speaker 5 (34:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
I mean, look, if you didn't have the defense that
they had against Auburn, you're not winning that game, right.
I mean, the defense has saved them quite a few
times in the season. I would credit the defense with
you know, at least a few of the wins that
they got this year. Without their defense playing as well
as they did, they don't win that Auburn.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
Game, right.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
So, but eight twenty two eighty seven will take more
of your phone calls up next. Before we do, though, Billy,
tell me about Stretch Lab. Yeah, Stretch Lab. I mean,
maybe you're a sec defense that's dealing with a lot
of injuries. Something that can help prevent injury is stretching,

(36:04):
and Stretch Lab has helped a lot with that. Han't
got to play a lot of golf with all the
games that are going on in the weather, but you
know what, I am setting myself up for a long
and healthy off season.

Speaker 3 (36:13):
So Stretch Lab check them out. They've got a location
in Lexington and in Fort Wright. In promo code Bogies
with Billy will get you a fifty minute stretch for
just forty nine dollars.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
A story in the news involving an eagle, a cat,
and a car. We'll talk about it coming up next
year on the KSR pre Show. Final segment of the
KSR Pre Show eight five, nine two EIGHTHO twenty two
eighty seven. Billy, you've probably heard us talk about on
KSR the meat shower that happened in Bath County. Yeah,

(36:42):
like over one hundred years ago, where just like all
of a sudden one day in Bath County, Kentucky, chucks
and meat just fell from the sky for like a
couple of minutes. And the theory was that I guess
there was you know, vultures or whatever that picked up
some animal carcass and just ate it and pieces of
meat fell from the sky.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
Really weird story.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
But anyway, I bring that up because over the weekend,
I don't know if you saw this story and North Carolina,
a woman was driving down the road when all of
a sudden, a cat fell from the sky and went
through her windshield. I guess it was like a bald
eagle according to the story, that picked up a cat
that was dead and then let go of it. And
this woman's just driving around and driving down the road

(37:24):
and all of a sudden a cat comes crashing through
a windshield. Could you imagine it's driving down the road
like a lot of people probably are right now listening
to us, right and a cat just falls from the
sky and goes through your windshield.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
It's a crazy story.

Speaker 3 (37:36):
That is crazy. What are the chances? I mean, you
hear that it's raining cats and dogs, but you don't
expect a dead cat carcass to break your winds literally
raining cats?

Speaker 1 (37:46):
So what do you do?

Speaker 3 (37:46):
Do you call it right way?

Speaker 2 (37:47):
You call it right way autoglass, Yeah, but don't even
have a right way auto glass. Add to David that's
what you do. But that was a crazy story from
the weekend. The other thing, too, is I mentioned this earlier.
The Thanksgiving pot luck is coming up here at iHeart
tomorrow and I need to ask you, billy, like, I'm
not a cook. I don't cook things, and they want
us to bring in a side dish. So is it

(38:08):
okay to bring in like instant mashed potatoes?

Speaker 1 (38:10):
Does that count?

Speaker 5 (38:11):
No?

Speaker 2 (38:11):
Because I don't cook, Like, what do you want from me?
You don't want to eat anything I cook? I could
promise you that. Well, I think I'm better off just
not bringing anything because if I bring in something that's
terrible that I've tried to cook, nobody would want to
eat it. You say, I can't bring in something that's instant,
that's microwavable. So then I think I'm better off just
doing what I do every year, and that is show.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
Up with nothing, to show up and eat. That's what
all this was.

Speaker 3 (38:34):
This was gonna be the whole show tomorrow because that
is when the pot luck is and Shannon every year
does this where he doesn't bring something and then he
still eats. Now, if you read the email, it says
that they have turkey ham green beans and mashed potatoes covered.
So that is why I would say not to bring
the instant potatoes, not because it's lazy to It's because
they're gonna have plenty of it.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
Okay, So it sounds like they got plenty of food.
They don't need me.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
Oh no, they need you.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
They need you to bring us to eat the food.
They don't need me to bring any dishes. You just
said they had all that covered.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
What else do you need?

Speaker 3 (39:02):
I need a cherished family recipe, I need a personal favorite.
There's something I mean new you're eager to try out.

Speaker 1 (39:10):
Look, here here's the thing I can't cook. So what
do you want me to do?

Speaker 3 (39:16):
I want you to bring the cranberry sauce with the
ridges in the actual cranberry you know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 1 (39:22):
Yeah, but I know I can't make it. You don't
have to.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
You just got to go to the store and get
the can.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
Oh okay, So can you do that?

Speaker 4 (39:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (39:29):
I think I could do that.

Speaker 3 (39:30):
Maybe you would be the hero of the Thanksgiving pot,
like everybody loves that cranberry sauce.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
Well, I may just accidentally forget that the pot.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
You're not allowed. I'm not letting you eat anything tomorrow
if you don't bring side This is atiquette of the work.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
A side dish. I can be the person that brings
in a plate because you got to have plates. You
gotta have something to eat with. You can't just eat the.

Speaker 1 (39:51):
Food off your desk. You got to have a plate.
So okay, you bringing the plates.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
I think that is perfectly acceptable for me to be
able to bring in a plate and stif because otherwise
plates with an S.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
If you bring one plate for yourself to yeah, that
is that's not good enough either, that's not no. So unfortunately,
you know, we miss out on all these things because
we're here in Lexington. They don't do that in Lexington
on the potles, only in Louisville here, so.

Speaker 1 (40:17):
You can come over here.

Speaker 2 (40:17):
I mean, if you really want to drive that far
to eat, yeah, if I want to do two hours
of driving for it.

Speaker 3 (40:22):
Yeah, So listen. Tomorrow morning's first segment on the pre
show is about what side dish Shannon the Dude brought
and we can all I mean, if there was a
you know, DraftKings bet we can make on this. It's
gonna be a short segment because my answer is going
to be think it'd be minusides for the plastic forks.

Speaker 1 (40:38):
That's what I brought.

Speaker 3 (40:38):
Brought one plate that would be more egregious than nothing.

Speaker 5 (40:41):
Do not do that.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
John's up next? What's up to?

Speaker 3 (40:45):
John?

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
