Three, thirteen ten Wiba Madison inthe Morning and ask the Experts. Joined
at studio this morning by the manon the spot, the one and only
Josh Gawitz, owner at Lega sixtyyears Josh, how you doing today?
I'm doing great. We kind ofcame in hot rate we did you and
I are talking about all sorts ofother things, and all of a sudden,
autumns over there going, oh,come on, focus you guys,

(00:33):
time to get you have a radioshow to do. Apparently radio it's an
important part of what we do aroundhere. And uh, and it's great
to have you along this week, and we're gonna talk this is this is
all on me. Last week mentionedwe are going to talk about entry doors,
and we just we never did. It's a it's a big teaser,
yes, exactly this week. Sowe're gonna get into those. Of course,

(00:57):
with the rain we've had just quickmention, of course, when it
comes to master Shield, when itcomes to gutters, Josh, gutters are
a vital part of your home. They're more than just for looks, aren't
they. Yeah, they definitely servea purpose because they're not the most decorative
thing on your house. No,no, not necessarily, but yeah,
master shield couldn't be a better optionfor a gutter guard. You know,

(01:19):
no one wants to clean out theirgutters. Master Shield is a surgical grade
stainless steel product. It's while thealuminum body. But the main thing is
it actually matches that pitch of yourroof. So whatever pitch your roof is,
it completely matches it and it willeven it'll filter out everything but even

(01:42):
a human hair. That's amazing.Yeah, I got asked to and again
I swear we're going to talk entrydoors in just a moment, but real
quick about about gutters and that isthis been a weird year with just obviously
that we're getting rained now, wedidn't get rain we normally do have.
We've seen a lot of folks realizingcrud. I've kind of neglected my gutters
this year because of kind of theweird weather pattern we've had. Yeah,

(02:07):
I mean you've showed me some picturesof shrubbery growing and a quick trip,
Quick trip shout out to quick Trip. Yeah. So I think you know,
when you don't have rain, youjust don't think about your gutters.
So and then once it rains,it's too late because you forgot to clean
them out, and you realize thatyou have the you know, a waterfall

(02:30):
outside your home and it's not supposedto be there, and then rainstorms over
and you clean out your gutters andyou realize, you know, but that's
if you don't clean them out aheadof time and keep your gutters free and
clear to breathe, and then you'regonna have those problems, those leaks in
your basement, you know, washingout of your landscaping, so so so

(02:53):
many problems that can occur as aresult of your gutters not working properly.
Where master shield you get it andyou forget it literally because you'll never have
to worry about anything going in yourgutter besides water ever again, which is
key because open gutters are designed tofail, yeah, you know, because
any time something gets in them, they don't work as they should and that

(03:16):
causes issues that we've a lot ofus have seen the past few days.
And if you have those issues, now is the time to pick up phone.
Give Josh and the team at LegacyExterior as a telephone call. They're
number six oh eight two two onethree thousand. That's two two one three
thousand. The website Legacy Dash Exteriorsdot com. It's Legacy Dash Exteriors dot
com. Hanging out with Josh Gal. It's up Legacy Exteriors and Josh,

(03:38):
we've teased entry doors last week andI feel really bad that we didn't get
to them, but thank goodness we'vegot we've got a show to talk about
them today. Because entry doors arethey're beautiful. Yea. They should be
functional as far as how they perform, not just as an entry way but
also as a security feature to yourhome, functional as as a way to

(03:59):
keep your heat and cool in andall the other things from outside out.
They can be decorative for the differentdifferent types of materials. They can be
designed with different door configurations, differentwindow configurations. And that's one of the
cool things about working with you guysat Legacy Exteriors to do that entryway,
to work on those those doors,is you can do you can really just

(04:20):
do it all. If you've gotan idea or if you say we've got
this space, you guys can helpcreate that space, can't you. Yeah.
They have a lot of different optionsnot only for design but for budget
functionality, and we work with severaldifferent manufacturers as people know, but our

(04:41):
main door company that we use aspro Via and Prova just they literally manufacture
a fantastic door one for everybody. But they have a several different ways you
can you know, fit the rightdoor to your home. Obviously, you
can go on and kind of they'llguide you from not only style but color

(05:04):
and glass packages and and so on. But you can actually pick a house.
You know, they have a sosay you got to keep cod Craftsman,
Colonial, you know, sparish Tutor, whatever it is. You can
click on that style house that bestmatches your home, and then they can
you know, throw out some ideasthat might match that architecture. It's just

(05:28):
thing you mentioned next. I thinkthat's something that's often overlooked when it comes
to design, is when you're takingthat these you know, when you're talking
about the front of your home, whether it's doors, windows, siding,
all the other kuchuman as we've mentionedthat you guys can do it like six
ti years. It's really part ofthe big house. It's really part of
the big picture that design. Eventhough you're just working on one specific area,

(05:51):
you want to make sure that itfits, that it's true, that
it's that it's part of and fitsin with the design style of the home.
Yeah, and and budget's important too. So so for pro Via,
for instance, they have their theirthree fiberglass series, they have an embark

(06:11):
signet and heritage, but they alsohave their steel doors, their legacy steel
doors. Little you know difference we'veall seen in the big box there steel
doors, right, but pro Villasare actually made with twenty gauge steal,
so it makes makes them the strongestand most durable steel door on the market.

(06:33):
So don't think that you're compromising whenyou're choosing maybe a steel door,
because pro Vias is literally the beststeel door on the market with both you
know, energy efficiency, customization, you name it. They they you're not
compromising in any way with that steeldoor. But if you want to move

(06:56):
into the fiberglass realm, they havethree excellent options. Their Embark is their
their highest level option. It's actuallyforty three percent thicker than than a standard
door, so it allows for morefoam fill installations. So it's the most
energy most energy efficient door in theUS. That is amazing. And with

(07:20):
that two you were mentioning, goingback quickly to the steel door option is
as we all know, the manof steel, Superman imprint. It just
just knowing for durability and strength iswhen it comes to your entry away,
you really want to have that strength. I mean you never know, you
never want to have a situation. But if you if you need to close

(07:41):
the door and you need to keeppeople out, guess what a nice steel
door will do great. And youwant it to look great because you don't
want it to be I sometimes thinkof people if they're not familiar with steel
door. Some might think, oh, like you mean, like at the
back of the at the back ofthe pizza joint, that steel door that's
got the big metal thing on theside. No, we're talking about very
I would I would go as faras to say glamorous doors. Yeah.
I think your your entry door islike the first impression of your house,

(08:07):
right, And I think that's whythere's so many options when it comes to
doors, whether you want you know, grids, clear gas, decorative glass,
privacy glass, uh, stained glass. You can actually have custom glass
made for your entry doors. Soif you have a design in mind that

(08:30):
you just virtually make up, theywill make it for you. Really it's
extremely neat, but also it literallyis going to be completely custom for any
homeowner. So every door is literallygoing to be different. So it's not
like a big box store where you'relike, oh, I've seen that door

(08:52):
before, I've seen that door before. Yeah, No, it's it's there
is a door not only for everybody, but it's gonna look different for everybody
because you're gonna pick. So onthe fiberglass series, for since you you
you not only pick your your doorstyle, your glass, you're all that

(09:13):
fun stuff, but you're gonna pickyour your wood that you want on the
outside. So whether it's cherry, mahogany, oak, naughty elder, all
these different wood grain finishes, andthen you can pick whatever clear stain color
you want for that wood door.Really yeah, and you can on the
inside if you don't want that woodgrain finish, you can get a smooth

(09:37):
finish and pick any color you want. Again, so a lot of different
options. Even on hardware, there'shundreds of different hardware styles and colors.
So we've got you, we've gotlike for folks that are thinking about doing
this, we've got some choices tomake and fun a fun journey on that
too. And when you mentioned youmentioned the glass as well, and custom

(10:00):
glass and that when we talk aboutpro VA, I also think of course
pro Via windows and the and thestandard that's there same holds through the doors,
high energy efficiency, high durability. That that's everything that you think of
when you think of windows doors, same situation. Yeah, I mean,
like I said Inbark series, isthe most energy efficient door in the United

(10:20):
States? Are amazing? That isabsolutely amazing. What you mentioned some of
the colors. Are we seeing someof those color trends? I thought I
saw a door like a charcoal blackdoor available. I mean, is that
is that you're nodding? Yes,I'm taking that. They are definitely bold
is in Yeah, you know, whether it's for siding or doors or what

(10:41):
have you. And I think, don't be a don't be afraid to try
something new. But the but theneat part about designing with pro Va and
in our whole design process is weyou know, we'll you'll come into the
showroom and we'll design up the doorbased on your choices and your options.

(11:03):
But then we can take that doorand put it on your front entryway so
to take a picture of your fronthouse. Yeah, and we can swap
that door you just made and putit on your house and see how it's
gonna look so you can don't beafraid to try bold and new design and
colors and then we can see whatit's going to look like on your house.

(11:24):
Pretty amazing stuff. So we talkedthis morning with Josh cow It's owner
at Legacy Exteriors. Tired of lookingat that same door when you walk up
to your house. Trust me,people are noticing as well. It's the
day to give him a call.Legacjudges they are, yes, they are,
even their dogs are judging it.Six eight two two one three thousand.
That's two two one three thousand forLegacy Exteriors website Legacy dash Exteriors dot

(11:46):
com. That's Legacy Dash Exteriors dotcom. And has that technology you mentioned
Bold is in has that technology. As you're kind of illustrating there, how
you're able to show with the technologyyou guys have at Legacy Exteriors exactly what
these designs are in the design dooris going to look at it. Has
that allowed people a little more freedomto say, Okay, we're gonna be

(12:07):
a little more bold design process, whereas I think of other places or even
years ago, where they tell youlike here's a sample of this and it's
like a little a little four byfour que a little square and they're gonna
look like this. It's gonna beon top of this because the glass and
U and now I want you toinvasion and imagine what it'll look like with
the technology you guys have at LegacyExteriors, I've got a guess that that
emboldens people to do those things andsaying, you know what, maybe a

(12:30):
little bit outside of the box, maybe something unique because I can see it
before it's done. Yeah, Ithink it's helped not only homeowners pick out
their door or their sighting or whateverit is, but I think it's helped
us as a company become a betteryou know, designers, and so we
can you know, you can havean idea what something that's going to look

(12:52):
like, but until it actually happens, you truly don't know what it's going
to be like. So I thinkthe pro programs that we use and the
technology that we use has helped it'dbe a better experience for everyone, not
only customers, but us as acompany. What about things too, it's

(13:13):
wrong with Josh Gwit's owner at LegacyExteriors website. Legacy dash exteriors dot Com.
Of course we all in for goodreason. We think about that that
main entryway, that focal point ofthe of the house and the indoors.
What about things? You know,a lot of people have you got the
garage door, you got the backdoor, you got side doors. Oftentimes
there's there's applications for those as well, aren't there. Yeah, I think

(13:33):
you know, everybody talks and thinksabout the front entry doors, but there's
quite a few different access points tothe home and we do them all we
can. You know, if youhave not everybody wants to maybe have the
nicest backdoor on the house or thegarage door. So yeah, there's again

(13:56):
there's you can mix and match betweenyou know, fiberglass to steal, so
you can bounce around in different pricepoints so you can definitely hit that door
budget that you want to hit.Is that is that something too where you
know, if you're doing the entryway, it might be a good time to
look at some of them, Imean pair or group those kind of together.
I mean, you guys, youguys are out there looking at things.
Why not why not talk a littlebit about some of those other options.

(14:18):
Because as we talk about the beautifulwork that you do, and folks
can see at Legacy dash exteriors dotcom. That's Legacy dash Exteriors dot Com.
Sometimes the the other things are areforgotten about as homeowners, and when
you see what's available to you, you're going to be very much surprised.
Obviously, again, you see thebeautiful entryways and you know you want one
of those. But what about thatthat door that's on the side of the

(14:39):
garage. You want it not onlyto look great to fit the house.
You want it again, going backto security, you keep your keep your
tools in there, you keep yourtoys in there, you keep your boat
back there. You don't want peoplemessing around with that stuff and will keep
safe. Yeah, and you wantedto keep the same design flow as you
did on the maybe the entryway orsome interior door. So yeah, there's

(15:01):
there's a lot to think about whenit comes to design and designing of your
doors, whatever it is. Youyou kind of want to keep that same
design and that same feel throughout theentirety of the house. And you know,
pro Via has a lot of flexibilitywith that. Talking this morning with
Josh Gwitt's owner at Legacy Exteriors.Been thinking about your entrywaymen, thinking about
your doors, thinking about making yourhouse look beautiful. As folks, they

(15:26):
talk about that curb appeal, andyou talk to realtors, they will always
tell you about that front door,of that entryway and the importance of having
a fantastic, welcoming entryway to yourhome. You can learn more online Legacy
Dash Exteriors dot com. That's LegacyDash Exteriors dot com. More importantly,
this morning, pick up phone, give McCall say hi to Nikki six O
two two one three thousand. That'stwo two one three thousand for Legacy Exterior.

(15:46):
We're gonna continue our conversation with Joshnext here at thirteen ten w IBA
eight fifty one thirteen ten WIBA andask the experts. Hanging out this morning
with Josh Gawitz, owner at LegacyExteriors. The website Legacy Dash Exteriors dot

(16:11):
com. That's Legacy Dash Exteriors dotcom. Delphen number six ways two two
one three thousand, that's two twoone three thousand, talking about entryways,
talking about doors, and it's interestingwe talk about front doors. We use
that term entryway because it's more thanoftentimes simply replacing a door. We're really
working that entryway to make it feelvery inviting, whether it's through at adding

(16:34):
some windows on the side, windowson top, adding different types of materials,
and that also goes into the designprocess as well, doesn't it.
Josh, Yeah, I think ifyou have the space for it, sidelights
and transoms, all that stuff tomake that door bigger or a new a
new trend is making that door tallerthan normal. Oh really yeah, so

(16:55):
if you have room, maybe we'redoing, you know, a much taller
door than standard, just to setthat, you know, that space apart
that make it a grand interested Yes, yes, now somebody who every door
I walk through is tall much tallerthan me. It is. It looks

(17:15):
it is when you see those youknow, a well designed door and you
mentioned adding that, adding that height, and just the idea of that the
door or a couple of doors swingingopen, it just it almost has that
that like movie like it's like anintro to a intro introduced film. And
that's I know. We talk aboutthis oftentimes with windows, but the same
holds true with doors. Is you'renot confined to what's there currently, and

(17:37):
that's the great thing about the skilledcrews you have at Legacy Exteriors, they
are able to if you want togo taller, you want to go wider,
you want to go both, oryou want to change up kind of
maybe the positioning. You guys areable to do that at Legacy Exteriors,
aren't you. Yeah, if youhave the room on that wall space,
we can We can certainly go bigger, taller, or whatever it is you

(17:59):
want where we you know, cando everything inside now if it needs to
be reframed or something moved, we'remore than capable of doing all that because
we're a you know, we're afull construction company. So yeah, there's
no limits on what you want todo in there, as long as you
have the wall space for it.One of the things I find interesting I

(18:19):
see this on a lot of newerdesign homes is rather than the door being
like flush with the outside wall,a lot of them have and it's such
I don't know if there's a termfor this design, and you've probably see
it probably every day, is whereyou kind of like there's like a little
slab and there's like you're walking almostthere's walls and there's a there's a roof
as you're walking in and then thedoor is set back. You know what

(18:41):
I'm talking about? You ever seethat that look? And like I think
of that space and if if peoplehave that is I know that there's some
builders that do kind of fairly genericones. I'm just thinking about, like
the idea of adding like different sidingas you kind of enter into that root
and it's not even I guess it'sa room, but it's open on the
whole. I don't know what they'vecalled be like kind of enter in there
and I think, goodness, thiswould be such a cool space to put

(19:03):
some cool siding, maybe some maybesome some stone on one side and stuff
like that, or even if itis again flush with the front, or
if you've got a patio that comesout doing those type it's like an any,
it's like an any of the AUTIif a patio is an AUDI would
be the opposite of a pad.You know what I'm time. Have you
seen the like I'm having trouble pictures? You know? Only thing I can
tell you is we can do it. Yes, I know you can't.

(19:26):
You know again, and whether it'sthe any, the audi or the or
the flat one, you guys areable to to to what goes around that
as well. Sometimes just a littlea little section of stone or something like
that can really can really accentuate thatbeautiful new door as well, can't it.
Yeah, A little you know, thicker trim stone, a lot of
different things can make that entry wayspecial and unique and and make yours the

(19:52):
only house like that on the block. When we talk about two setting this,
setting up an appointment at Legacy Exteriors, Josh, of course we call
in talk to Nikki, Say,Nikky like to have somebody come out.
You don't have to have like aset idea. If you do, it's
certainly certainly something you guys can cancan make for somebody. But I think
sometimes people think, well, Idon't really know exactly what I want,
And that's perfect, isn't it.I mean, that's fine, that is

(20:15):
absolutely yeah. Yeah. I meanif if you just know that you want
something different, yeah, and youwant to change or you flat out need
a new door, give us acall. The process is actually I think
you're gonna find it great from fromthe Nikki answering the phone, setting up
the appointment, to the having theuh, you know, the consultant out

(20:37):
and see what you want to havedone, and then walking you through that
door design process or any of theprocess. I think you're gonna find it
one non pressure, yeah, butwhich is which is key? But you're
gonna it's gonna be a fun process. The door process of designing is very
very detailed. I mean you're gonnapick so many you know, paint staining

(21:02):
options, the physical door itself, the material, what it's made out of,
door hardware, door accessories, door, you know, the glass.
It's all gonna be walk you throughit in order. So it's a it's
a nice, you know, stepby step process that pro via walks you
through and by the end of it, you're going to see what a beautiful

(21:23):
door that you just designed is andwe can put it on that front of
your house. Do we do doorknobs at all anymore? By the way,
is that there are still some actualknobs? Yeah, there's some actual
knobs, So yeah, there's thereis. When it comes to the hardware
part of it, obviously you're pickingout your color, but then you're picking
out the style and some doors, maybe that round knob is is the way

(21:45):
to go for that style of doorhe picked out. Maybe maybe some simple
is better. By the way, have you ever seen that, Like across
the pond they have like that doorknob in the middle of the door.
Have you seen anything like that inthe United States. I'm always curious about
how those things function. If theythat's the knob ers just for pulling the
door shot or no, if youI haven't seen that here? Okay,

(22:07):
if you want one, that'd bedefinitely worth exploring because that might be kind
of a nifty unique unique definitely andif there's anybody that can pull it off,
it's you, guys. A legacyYes, exactly, Josh cow it's
