(00:09):
WIBA and ask the experts hanging outthis morning with Josh Gowit's owner at Legacy
Exteriors the website Legacy dash Exteriors dotcom. Tell number six to a two
two one three thousand. That's twotwo one three thousand. I had to
laugh there as I as I wasmentioning your name, because we have a
bunch of people in studio today andone of the things that's that's funny is
(00:32):
how you very quickly figured out howto discover which headphone volume was yours.
Well, I haven't seen that manyplugged in before. Ye. Yeah,
who would you bring along this week? So my brother's visiting in town and
his son, Quinn, is veryinterested in radio and pursuing that as a
career, so we thought we'd showhim around. Oh perfect, Well,
it's good to have all you guys. Real quick, Uh, real real
(00:55):
quick, Jeremy, you said intown, where are you from? We're
from Central Old Boy, so justnorth of Peoria, about twenty miles.
And then my son just got acceptedto go to University of Kansas for their
nice get into their broadcasting. Ohvery very great. Yeah, that's very
exciting stuff. Yeah, he'll geta little little sample he's hanging out over
in the producer's room with autumn thismorning. And uh and Josh, of
(01:17):
course we've finally got heat coming up. I mean a lot of heat,
like triple digit kind of stuff. As far as uh temps and those times
that let's talk about the roof andspecifically shingles. Um. Obviously here in
Wisconsin, bitter cold, extreme heat, our roofs and our shingles see a
lot of different conditions, don't they. Yeah, we can definitely give our
(01:42):
roofs of beating. Yeah. Umand uh, you know, going from
one extreme temp to the other extremeum is you know, going to cause
some issues or accelerate some issues thatmight be already there that might have taken
a little longer over time, butthat weather is going to speed those problems
up. It is snow something doesdoes snow cause issues for roofs themselves?
(02:07):
Or is that something on the milderside as far as just things that are
roofs deal with. Well, ifif you've got problems with like ventilation problem,
you know that snow is gonna Imean it could possibly cause that ice
dam um if if it's not ventilatedor insulated properly, and the snow is
going to cause you know problems thatlike if it does cause that ice dam,
(02:29):
you know, melts that snow andthe water channel comes down and hits
and starts to creating that massive icedam and works its way back up underneath
the shingles into the soffits and insidethe home. That's not good. Reverse
flow is not good. No,no, not at all. Roofs are
supposed to keep the water and elementsout, yes, exactly. And we're
going to talk about some of thethings to look at us as far as
(02:51):
inspecting your roof some of the thingsyou might see and notice, especially with
this heat we've got coming up,certain things will start to happen with roofs
that are getting a little long inthe tooth than ready to be replaced.
We had those tips from Josh injust a moment. But first, since
we're talking about roofing Master Elite statusut AT Legacy Exteriors of course by JF
Master Elite status is achieved and um, not one, not two, but
(03:14):
trice triple triple. Uh, what'sthe what's triple excellence excellence elite elites?
What are you guys? You guysare like three times. It's it's something
and I can't read my Triple Excellenceaward. Triple Excellence, which is which
is um, you know, it'sthree things, so training excellence, installation
(03:36):
excellence, and then consumer Protection excellenceand just excellent all around. Yeah,
just excellent all the way around. And then um, you know, to
be a Master Elite. It's apretty you know, big deal as far
as you know contractors are concerned inthe roofing industry because less than two percent
of roofing contractors are of that statusMaster Elite in the nation and then to
(03:58):
be threefold well and then you know, not only Triple Excellence Awards, which
we've won year in and year out, um, we've we're also multiple Presidents
Club Award winners, which we justu receive that honor again this year,
which is which is great. Sothat's uh, you know with the new
Top Gun movie up coming out,you know Top Guns the best of the
best. Yeah, well, President'sClub is like like that, the best
(04:21):
of the best. You're winning,You're win an award of the best of
the best. And what's great aboutthat too is and we think about like
homeowners and they say, okay thatthat is really great that you know the
guys are doing great work and thatstuff. But it's really a recognition and
there's more than just um, youguys do great and and do when they
do the random spot checks and stuff, they just they rave about the work
(04:42):
they do. And we've had folksfrom JF here in the studio to talk
about that. The other thing isis we GF and that in the master
of Lead and and having that statusis they're really putting their money where their
mouth is as well with the warrantiesand other things that go along with this
um they are when they're pointing outexcellent work. When they are checking for
excellent work, it's not just likea curse ory like hey it looks good
from here, we're good. Theyreally want to make sure you're doing good
(05:06):
and they're noticing those who are doinggood and up to the standards, and
they're also noticing those who are goingabove and beyond and just doing the phenomenal
work with those awards. Well, you know, from a homeowner standpoint,
choosing a contractor is always tricky.Yeah, right, so you want to
That's why people are like, hey, you better get three estimates, you
(05:27):
better get three estimates because they wantto make sure that their money's go on
the right spot and they don't wantto choose the wrong contractor because a wrong
contractor can cost them more money.Yeah, So what the Master Elite program
has done is, I mean theydo all the vetting. You know,
they vet all the contractors. There'sa reason why it's so rare, you
know, because they want to makesure that whoever is installing their shingle and
(05:49):
representing their company is going to bedoing it the right way, installing it
the right way, and that roofis not going to have any issues because,
like you said, Jeff puts theiron you where their mouth is.
It's not our warranty, you know, We're not saying, hey, we're
we're gonna warrant this for fifty yearsnon pro rated. GAF themselves are warranting
(06:12):
that fully non pro rated for fiftyyears. And then they put that twenty
five year labor warranty on it aswell, and that's all done by the
manufacturer. So and that there's areason why they, you know, are
so picky about it. There's areason why they do the random spot checks
because they want to make sure thatthey're warranting this roof and it is installed
(06:32):
right, it is gonna last. They're not gonna have to worry about it
in the future. And somethings we'retalking this morning with Josh cow it's owner
at Legacy Exteriors website, Legacy dashExteriors dot com. That's Legacy Dash Exteriors
dot com. Dolph number six awaytwo two one three thousand. That's two
two one three thousand something for homeownersto be aware of. Not all roofers
using jf Our Master Elite And asa matter of fact, GF It's it's
(06:56):
a big company. I mean, you can go down to the store and
buy a buy stack a GAF shinglesyourself, but that does not mean the
same as as having an installed bya Master Elite team. No. I
mean you'll just get the standard warranty, the out of the box warranty and
if, obviously, if it's notinstalled correctly, if they're installation airs,
(07:17):
obviously, then that's their easy wayout of if it's something were to fail.
So be care and be careful aswe're about to talk to about with
the weather and things that people startingto take notice, be careful as far
as who you're calling who you're workingwith, understand fully what exactly that contract
is and what that guarantee and thatwarranty is. Again you mentioned obviously the
(07:38):
shingles themselves, they come with awarranty that's not the same as as above
and beyond what we're talking about withwhen you guys achieve masterfully and not to
rip any shingle manufacture or anything likethat, but a standard warranty is very
very tire warranty issue. Okay,so it's not it's it's gonna be on
(08:01):
a pro rated basis. It's,um, there's gonna be a lot of
loopholes and stuff to it. Um, and your warranty, the Master of
Elites warranty is just so different.Yeah, you know, it's it's not
only the shingle, it's all theaccessories, and it's labor and it's non
pro rated. It just doesn't getbetter. So um it it's almost better
(08:22):
than any metal warranty out there.Really. Yeah, So that's huge.
Um. And people you know, back years ago and when asphalt's got shingles
got a bad name, you know, we had a lot of calls of
saying, you know, I wantto do metal because I don't want to
do this again, you know, because asphalt had such a bad name of
you know, prematurely failing and um. And now we can put that stamp,
(08:48):
uh, you know, the warrantystamp on it with the golden pledge
saying you know, not only isthis not going to fail, it's fifty
years non pro rated shingles accessories, twenty five years labor. If it us
failed prematurely, GAF will haven't usredo it again and and give you the
full warranty again. If we're nolonger in business, they will find another
(09:11):
equivalent, master elite to do thejob. It's backed by the Good Housekeeping
Seal of approval. So I mean, as far as the industry goes,
it doesn't get better. I rememberyears ago when we bought our house,
you mentioned, you know, metalroofs, and people like I want the
longevity and this is but you know, even not the look or other things
is this is the best of allworlds as you're getting that that great look
of the beautiful shingles with the withyou know, with the colors and the
(09:35):
and the depth and that type ofthing, but also the durability and the
warranty of metal roofing. It's reallythe best, the best out there.
Well and let me throw you anothercurveball, which I love from you.
Yeah, so at half the cost, right like, yeah, I mean,
who doesn't want a better roof, better warranty and save a bunch of
(09:58):
money. And if the phone startringing right out, Legacy Exteriors, something's
very wrong. Call Nikki better behaitingme and pulling your there out six O
two two one three thousand. That'stwo two one three thousand, Legacy Exteriors.
We're gonna talk with Josh. Actuallywhat you should be looking for on
your roof, some signs as weget into these warm days that your roof
is probably due. And again it'salways a great time to have him come
out and take a look at yourroof. If you have any questions,
(10:20):
any concerns you certainly don't want tofind out after it's too late. You
got water and other issues going on. Now is the time to give them
call six to A two two onethree thousand, two one three thousand.
Yeah, of course you're definitely butyeah, but let's not wait, we
don't want to do that. Today'stoday two two one three thousand, two
two one three thousand website Legacy DashExteriors dot com. We'll do that.
We'll also talk about job opportunities atLegacy Exteriors with the details from Josh.
(10:43):
We will do that next as askthe experts with Legacy Exteriors continues right here
in thirteen ten w Ibi eight fiftibamedicine in the morning and ask the experts
hanging out with Josh Gawit's owner atLegacy Exteriors. The website Legacy dash Exteriors
(11:07):
dot com. That's Legacy Dash Exteriorsdot com. Tell number six away two
two one three thousand. That's twotwo one three thousand, talking roofing this
morning. Of course, with theweather we've got on the horizon, there
could be issues. Of course, sooner or later it's going to rain,
and you certainly don't want to learnthe hard way that there's a roof issue.
And that's one of those tricky areasabout about roofs. Josh is one
(11:30):
if if with any luck, ifif you had your roof put on right
and done right, folks at LegasExteriors, you never have to think about
it, and so it's not somethingyou're like real versed in as far as
you know, need to be replacednow for folks, maybe their new homeowners,
and they've been kind of wondering aboutthat and say, how can I
tell if my roof may be damagedor there may be some issues to be
(11:52):
concerned with. I know some areaslast week got a little bit of hail.
I know some folks got a lotof rain. What can you look
for as a homeowner that's you knowwhat, this is probably time to have
it inspected. So I would saylike wavness, maybe shingles lifting, um.
Some of the obvious ones would beyou know, we've all seen roofs
that just curled, Yeah, curledup. You know that's obvious, a
(12:16):
pretty obvious sign. But I'd saywavingness is it is another good one.
But if you go up on yourroof, you might see little stress cracks.
If the shingles on the edges lookshiny, that's that's the fiberglass mat
underneath, and granule loss around theedges. I mean there's a lot of
different, um, you know, little signs here and there. I would
(12:39):
say, if you're unsure and yourroof's twenty years old and you think there
might be some issues, give aprofessional call. Um, we do free
inspections all the time, and I'msure other companies do as well. But
um, you'd rather find out ifyour roof can last now rather than go
through a winter and find out thehardware. Yeah exactly, you know you
(13:01):
want that. You mentioned that inspection. I mean just even just for peace
of mind having it looked at andyou know, guys go out there,
take a look, say everything's great, sleep easy, It's it's good to
know with this too. Is we'retalking about shingles and those type of things
they seal. Right, when whenthat shingle sits on there you get these
hot days, it it really formsa solid bond. Right, It's not
(13:22):
just we're not just stacked up therein layers. There's actually kind of attackiness
to the bottom. Or yeah, you're exactly right. So and new are
you hiring them? Yeah we are. So you know when a new roofs
is installed, Um, you knowthat barn is not going to be instant,
so it takes time. So ittakes takes some heat and then and
(13:43):
then like you just said, theit'll create a seal and um, and
that that should remain so when thoseseals get broken in any way due to
you know wind or the shingles arejust giving out the seals broken, then
you'll start creating some lifting of upration in between the you know, the
shingles, and and you don't wantthat, because that's when you'll you'll start
(14:03):
getting you know, blowoffs or curlingor lifting in general. Um, you'll
you'll see it a lot in avalley area when that when that seal is
broken. Um, all things wedon't want or your home doesn't want.
We've been talking about the important stuffthis morning with Josh Gwit's owner at Legacy
Exteriors, of course, protecting yourhome and having that roof done right.
(14:24):
Let's talk about some of the funstuff too with this is Um, shingles
can really and with the variety ofdifferent styles and different colors and can really
set your house, make it makeit pop really really, you guys have
some amazing options for people when itcomes to styles and looks. You're exactly
right, I mean there is JAFhas a whole designer series. Yeah.
(14:48):
Um, so it's it's it's it'snot your you know, boring roof of
the past. You can actually makeyour roof a statement piece. Um,
especially if you have the right roofwhere it steep, and you're going to
see a lot of it, whynot do something different up there some fun
um. There's a lot of differentstyles and colors um that you can really
(15:09):
just set your house apart, makeit different, um and make it truly
unique in yours And I think sometimespeople and then that's a cool thing too.
Working with you and I we've talkedthe past about mixing. Maybe you
want a certain area, you wantto do a shake or a metal or
something like that. You guys cando that at legacy exteriors as well.
Is the other cool thing is justthe I don't know if you want to
(15:30):
call it the contour or the likethe the shingles are there's so many,
you know, there's the old Ithink you've talked about three tab. I
think a lot of us just thinkabout those real basic boom boom boom.
Got that kind of flat kind ofhuh. But you guys can go like,
yeah, yeah, you said it. You guys have so many with
GAF and so many different lines, different different heights and thicknesses and different profiles,
(15:56):
and yeah, it's that to meis one of those areas and one
of the cool things about stopping outand visiting it at the at the shop
and seeing the showroom and is actuallyseeing some of that stuff in person.
I know when you guys get outto the different events as well bringing those
samples, people are amazed at justwhat they're like a shango, like yeah,
shango, it's pretty amazing what canbe done with them? Well,
(16:18):
and like you said, so abig thing now and we've done shows about
it is the mixing and matching ofmaterials, um and sighting. It's it's
extremely popular, you know when you'reyou're doing lap siding with shake and Boord
and Batton and so on. Well, let's not let's not be boring with
roffing, you know, let's dolet's do some standing seam on a bump
out in combination with the asphaltum andreally, you know, make make that
(16:45):
roof a statement piece. Let's notforget about the roof. And that is
that is one of those areas whereI know, as we talked about the
recognition you have received at Legacy Exteriorsand and really the highest level of everything,
that is one of those areas toothat you guys really excel at is
being able to be at the highestlevel with all these different products, with
all recognized by all the different manufacturersfor being able to do it. So
(17:07):
let's not to say well we arewe specialize in an asphalt chiggles well,
specialized for sure in that, butalso when it comes to metal roofing,
when it comes to other things aswell, Legacy Exteriors, you're not pigeonholed
into that area. That brings usto our next part of this conversation,
Josh, which is, since youguys do so much great work, you've
got opportunities for the right person that'slooking looking to come on board, don't
(17:29):
you. Yeah. First of all, I mean I would say, even
when I'm not mentioning that job, opportunities aren't there. If you're great at
what you do and in our field, we want you, yes, you
know, if you're not already workingfor Legacy Exteriors, let's talk about how
we can get you there if Yeah, we want all good people. But
yeah, right now we're going tobe hiring um on site production managers.
(17:52):
Okay, so we want someone tobe on site of our projects to imitate
make sure the project is going, you know, as smooth as possible.
But be that go between from theyou know, the homeowner to the office
just so we want to expedite andmake sure that project is running as as
(18:15):
smooth and as good as it possiblycan. So we're hiring um that position
right now. It's gonna we're offeringmore than competitive wage, you know,
obviously the health dental company, matchingretirement, all that stuff. So if
if that sounds like um, itmight be a fit for you. Maybe
maybe you're an installer and want toget more into management, you know,
(18:40):
give us a call um obviously allthe background of the knowledge of construction that's
going to help you in that position. And if you're but if you're good
at any of the trades as welland looking to make a switch or want
to hear what we're all about,we are more than willing to take those
phone calls as well. I know, and I know, and that's mentioned
(19:02):
the phone calls two two one threethousand, that's two two one three thousand,
And I know when talking with folksthat you work with every day and
some of the different different aspects oftheir of their career path is a lot
of these people were very very goodat what they did, but weren't satisfied
at their previous place and found LegacyExteriors and started working with you. In
absolutely rave about the work that youguys do in the team of course around
(19:23):
you. And that's the great thingabout working with the team at Legacy Exteriors
or working as part of the teamat Legacy Exteriors. It's a great company
with a lot of really good people, with amazingly competitive overly competitive some way,
I argue benevents and it's a great, great place. Today as the
day to learn more, of course, go to the website Legacy dash exteriors
dot com. More importantly, thismorning pickup phone give him a call six
(19:45):
so a two two one three thousand. That's two two one three thousand,
jocks. It's always great to seeyou enjoy this beautiful day you two.
Thanks for having me. Dan O'Donnellhas a chance to win a thousand dollars
next right here at thirteen ten wIba
